Speaker 1 (00:03):
Good morning, Big shows on the radio.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Coming up, we'll play Beating the Blonde for that aforementioned
big old prize pack right now from the ACC Network
in the Big ESB and our boy, Mark Packer, Good morning, pack.
Speaker 3 (00:15):
Good morning john Boy. It is Week one of the
college football season. It's time to talk a little Southern
prize football, john Boy. But you know, I told you
last week we've been waiting for football. And week zero
there's just a handful of games. But then we already
got one giant surprise. Georgia Tech goes all the way
over to Ireland and upsets Florida State Johnny on Saturday.
(00:38):
And Brent Keen is the football coach down there, and
he inherited a mess. But I tell you what he's
done a heck of a job. He's now five and
zer against ranked ACC teams, and Georgia Tech snapped a
fifteen game losing streak against AP top ten teams when
he knocked off Florida State. And for the Knowles, who
if you remember now we're picked by the media as
(00:59):
the favorite to the fend their ACC championship. It snapped
the Knowles twelve game ACC win streak. They had won
twenty straight against non conference opponents. So if you're wondering, hey,
how long is it gonna take for college football to
put everybody on's ear?
Speaker 1 (01:13):
How about the very first game?
Speaker 3 (01:15):
I mean, so, Georgia Tech knocking off Florida State's already
got people buzzing, which leads into this week. Now, listen,
it's a Wednesday morning, Johnny. And if you're a college
football junkie, kind of been waiting for this week, but
it all gets started tomorrow. Your beloved tar Heels are
going up to Minnesota, little acc big ten matchup. Mac
Brown's been real quiet about who the quarterback's gonna be.
(01:36):
Probably gonna play a couple guys.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
PJ.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
Fleck is wide open. He's the coach up there at Minnesota.
So that'll be a pretty good football game. You got
Wake in NC State. They open up tomorrow as well.
Duke right down on Tobacco Road. They opened on Friday.
But if you're a junkie, now, if you're a college
football Southern frid football junkie, man, Saturday is your day, Johnny.
Clemson and Georgia in the atl at high noon Saturday.
(01:59):
And just to put things in perspective, the Tigers have
seen the Dogs eight times since nineteen ninety one. Georgia
is seven and one against the Tigers since nineteen ninety one.
The Dogs are the number one team in the country.
They're a double digit favorite. But Dabo's gonna see if
he's got some upper sleeve. Kate Clebnant, the quarterback's gonna
have to play better. But that Georgia team looks like
(02:20):
they are loaded as the preseason number one team. But
that's not the only go one. How about Miami and
Florida Little Sunshine State showdown. Everybody thinks Mario chris vaon
the Keynes.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
Is the U back.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
Well, we're gonna find out when they go to the
swamp Saturday afternoon and then that night Notre Dames at
Texas A and m both teams ranked in the top twenty.
Should be an incredible environment. But it's not that, Johnny.
We're gonna got loaded with games on Saturday. Then on
Sunday LSU and Southern count I remember USC is now
in the Big ten. That's no longer to pack twelve,
(02:53):
So they go LSU USC they're in Vegas, and then
on Monday, Labor Day BC and Florida State eight and
all is looking to bounce back. And man, Florida State
got no margin for air, you know, a year's pass.
If you lost that first game like that, Johnny, in
all likelihood, you got no shot to make the college
football playoff. Remember, we go from four teams to twelve
(03:13):
teams this year in the college football playoffs. So if
you're a Florida State fan or your team loses in
Week one, it's not the end of the world. If
you win your conference championship between the power for you're
automatically locked and loaded. And of course if you lose
one on non conference, hey, it stinks, but it's not
the end of the world like it's been in years past.
So we've been waiting for the season to get started,
(03:35):
and Johnny, it is finally full throttle beginning tomorrow, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday.
Get that Southern Fridy football, get that college football all over.
It's gonna be awesome.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
That's it.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Well, listen, I had some up some football fans, but
what is the deal with the playoffs? I said, let
me get back, just to lay it out for some
casual football fans. How many teams, what's the deal with
the playoff this year. We've been waiting for a cup
of years.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
It's simple. There's a there's four power four leagues. Right,
you got the ACC, you got the SEC, the Big twelve,
and the Big Ten. The winner of that conference championship
locked and loaded. Right, they're locked and loaded, and they'll
be seated one, two, three, and four. Unless a group
of five team it has one of those remarkable years,
been all like that, they're not going to be better
(04:21):
than one of those four teams. So those four teams,
whoever wins your conference championship, you're locked and loaded and
you get a buy in the first round the playoffs.
So then teams five through twelve will be the highest
ranked teams that did not win their conference championship, and
of course that's where the committee will come in and
a group of five. Then group of five basically is
any team that falls into a conference that is not
(04:44):
in the ACC, the SEC, the Big twelve, or the
Big Ten. So this is a group of five. It's
the best team and if they happen to be ranked ninth,
well they'll be seed at number nine. So if they're
outside the top twelve, but they're the top group of
five team, they'll be seeded twelve, So that means teams one, two, three, four,
the conference champion get it by in the first round
the playoffs. Number twelve will be at number five, Number
(05:05):
eleven will be at number six, Number ten will be
at seven, number nine will be at number eight. So
really the first round the playoffs, you're gonna have home
field advantage for teams that are seated five, six, seven,
and eight, So you could get some matchups we've never
seen before. Maybe it's an SEC team going to the
Big ten or whatever the combination may be. So again,
you know that you want to win your conference championship.
(05:27):
That's why the regular season is still so important. But
even if you lose one or two early, it doesn't
mean you're out. You still gotta get hot, win some
games of note. But it's it's gonna be a different year,
it's a different five. But again, we've already seen one
major upset with Georgia Tech knocking off Florida State, and
you know I got news for it. We're gonna have
a bunch of more of those kind of games as
we move on. It's gonna be awesome.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Just like you said, it's simple.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
Awesome, or or, in Randy's case, the teams with the
cool uniforms.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
Go all right, all right back, we'll meet next week. Buddy,
Thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
My boy, Oh, I'll be good and joy.
Speaker 3 (06:04):

Right or wrong. Get two bells for two buzzers and
you will win.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Right, okay, okracks, All right, Well let's go right to

Speaker 2 (08:04):
No, no, not, Most American men are not self conscious
about their bellies.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
But Tedler says, Mike, you agree or disagree?
Speaker 4 (08:19):

Speaker 1 (08:20):
And that is well theying to do?
Speaker 2 (08:23):
Yeah, only about thirty five percent words They probably didn't. Well,
all right, Mix, way to put yourself outside of the question.
There is a bell for you.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
So, Marcy, is it easier.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
To persuade somebody to do something they might not like
to do if they are standing up, setting down, or
lying down?
Speaker 5 (08:50):
Let me think, if they're standing up, you'd have to
persuade them to lie down.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
So deductive reasoning.
Speaker 5 (09:04):
When they're sitting down easier to somebody when they're sitting down.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
Those three setting down, sitting down, they're sitting and sitting down,
shutting down.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
I can't say that word.
Speaker 6 (09:19):
Let it go.
Speaker 1 (09:19):
Max knows what you say, Max, do you agree or disagree?
Speaker 4 (09:28):
I'm gonna take a low averages. I'm gonna disagree love.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
Beverage two out of three. You could be right and
didn't work down setting down?
Speaker 1 (09:38):
Yes, I know.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
I'm more comfortable when I'm laying down.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
Well, you're thinking too much, alright, mask when they're losing
right here. According to a university study, are women more
likely to get jealous than men?
Speaker 6 (09:58):
No?
Speaker 5 (09:59):
But since you're enough, why are you always so sweet
to the snack lady? I brought you stuff for like
fifteen years.
Speaker 1 (10:10):
Are women more likely to get jealous than men?
Speaker 6 (10:14):
No?
Speaker 2 (10:15):
No, you say men get jealous more often. Max, Do
you agree or disagree?
Speaker 4 (10:23):
I'm married the one. I say, women? Right, women get
more jealous than men.
Speaker 1 (10:29):

Speaker 5 (10:39):
He said yes.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
You said women are more likely because of your wife.
I say right, yeah, well yeah, you know they took
more respondence.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
Yeah. No, No, men and women actually get equally jealous.
What's kind of the trick there.
