Spécialiste du développement des plantes, il transpose les mécanismes biologiques dans une réflexion politique et sociale pour questionner notre culte contemporain de la performance.
À travers des exemples concrets allant du canal de Suez aux semi-conducteurs, des avions low-cost aux frigos connectés, Olivier démontre comment l’obsession de la performance finit par nous fragiliser collectivement. Pour lui, l’alternative se trouve dans la robustesse : la capacité des systèmes vivants à encaisser les chocs et à rester viables dans un monde fluctuant.
La conversation explore également le paradoxe de Jevons, les limites écologiques et sociales de l’intelligence artificielle, et les nouveaux modèles économiques et citoyens qui émergent déjà : économie circulaire, agroécologie, habitat partagé, conventions citoyennes… autant de signaux faibles d’un monde plus robuste, déjà en train de se dessiner.
En s’appuyant sur le vivant, Olivier propose une philosophie politique de l’incohérence, où la contradiction et les contre-pouvoirs deviennent la clé d’une démocratie durable.
