Main Focus

  • Florida, under Governor Ron DeSantis and the state Surgeon General, announced plans to eliminate all mandatory vaccination requirements, including those for children in public schools.

  • This would make Florida the first U.S. state to fully withdraw vaccine mandates, representing a sharp departure from decades of public health policy.

Arguments Presented

  1. Skepticism toward public health institutions:

    • Ben argues that the CDC and medical authorities “lied” about COVID-19 measures (masks, distancing, vaccine effectiveness).

    • Because of this, many Americans no longer trust these institutions.

  2. Parental Rights vs. Government Mandates:

    • Florida’s decision is framed as empowering parents to make medical choices for their children rather than allowing the federal government to dictate them.

    • Supporters view this as a matter of bodily autonomy, parental choice, and medical freedom.

  3. Criticism of the Opposition:

    • Sources claim “liberals” and medical groups oppose the repeal because they want more government control.

    • It portrays media outlets and health professionals as fearmongering about the risks of removing mandates.

Counterpoints & Concerns Highlighted

  • Medical Community Response:

    • Organizations like the American Medical Association warn that removing vaccine mandates could undermine decades of progress and lead to outbreaks of preventable diseases (measles, polio, whooping cough).

    • Public health experts stress the immense global and U.S. benefits of vaccines, citing millions of lives saved.

  • Political & Public Debate:

    • Florida Democrats and doctors argue the move poses a grave public health risk.

    • There is emphasis on how outbreaks could affect schools and vulnerable groups.

Speaker 1 (00:01):
Yeah, I do. I think the Republicans will vote for
an extension. We won't have any Democrat votes. We could
give the greatest budget ever, a tax cut of fifty percent,
everybody taken care of, perfect for women, perfect for men,
perfect for minorities, perfect for everything, and we would get
one vote for the Democrats because they lost their minds.

Speaker 2 (00:20):

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Story number one.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
Cause and effect is something that happens all the time. Well,
there was a major cause and effect when it came
to COVID nineteen and the lies that were told to
the American people about that vaccine and so many of
the regulations and rules that put us in a lockdown
for far too long. What happened, There's a lot of

(03:22):
people now asking more questions than ever about the CDC
and not trusting the CDC, not trusting them on vaccines.
It also brought up an even bigger point, should the
government be able to mandate what vaccines you have to
have for your kids? Well, Florida, they said they believe
that parents should have the rights over their children, not

(03:45):
the federal government when it comes to vaccines. Let me
be clear about what happened in Florida. It is not
in Florida, and this is very important, a ban on vaccines.
What Florida has now done is said parents could decide,
not the government, and that brings us to the big headline.
Liberals are losing their minds because they want the government

(04:08):
to be able to dictate to you what you have
to do for your children. Florida now we know plans
to eliminate all vaccine mandates, including those required for children
attending public schools. The announcement came from the Surgeon General
of Florida and was made during a press conference alongside

(04:30):
Governor Ron De Santis. Now, the Surgeon General describe the
mandates as oppressive and even liken them to slavery and
frame the repeal as a matter of printal choice, bodily autonomy,
and medical freedom. Florida, by the way, would become the
first US state to withdraw mandatory vaccination requirements entirely, marking

(04:52):
a significant shift from decades of public health policy. Now,
while the Department of Health can rescind mannate it issued administratively,
any vaccine requirements established by laws, such as those for polio,
measles and mumps, you know intentanus for example, will require
legislative action to quote unquote repeal. Well, the liberals their

(05:17):
minds exploded over this, as well as many in the
medical field. The American Medical Associations say that the repeal
would quote undermined decades of public health progress and dramatically
increase the risk of serious illness. Well, guess what if
you guys at the CDC and in the medical community
wouldn't have lied about the COVID vaccine and its effectiveness,

(05:40):
or the spread or masking or staying six feet a partners,
shutting down the schools, or any of the issues you
lied to us about with COVID, then we might actually
believe you on issues moving forward. But the reality is
Americans don't infectious disease leaders also came out warning of
likely outbreaks preventable diseases like measles and polio, especially in

(06:02):
schools and vulnerable populations. Florida Democrats echoed these concerns, with
Senator Jones calling it a quote grave public health risk.
Another state senator in emphasized disease like polio could return
and that would be horrific for Florida. Now, I went
on CNN Newsnight with Abby Phillips. It was the lead story,

(06:25):
and I want you to hear how the media is
now attacking Donald Trump for this, saying that he's going
to have kids die because of a popsey. It's been
acted in Florida. Yes, they want to fearmonger you and
control you. Yet again, listen carefully.

Speaker 4 (06:43):
Joining the conversation for this one is doctor Chris Parnell.
She's the director of the NAACP Center for Health Equity
and Public Health and Preventative Medicine. Physician and doctor Parnell,
you know this well. In twenty twenty, we had thirteen
cases of measles twenty twenty five, fourteen hundred, a huge
increase in whooping cough whooping cough in this country, and

(07:06):
at the same time, the rates of vaccine exemptions have
gone up by about a point since twenty nineteen. None
of this is by accident, none of this is by osmosis.
And now this in Florida reckless.

Speaker 5 (07:21):
If I could summon up in one word, let's just
go to some facts, and I have them here to
keep myself honest. Since the last thirty years, we've saved
over one hundred and fifty million lives because of vaccines globally.
If we begin to think about in the United States,
we've saved over one point one million children due to

(07:42):
vaccination since nineteen ninety four. We've prevented five hundred and
eight million illnesses in thirty two million hospitalizations. That's not
anything to wink at. That's hardcore data. But what's happening
in the United States is as if we are a
runaway train. In public health, we talk about the cliff

(08:04):
of good health, and we have fallen completely off of
the cliff.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
That's kind of what it feels like that in a way,
Ben that everybody sitting at this table, all the folks
in Florida, all of these people who are vaccine skeptics
now have benefited from vaccines allowing them to live their
lives without polio, without measles, and now all of a
sudden they want to pull the rug out from underneath children.

(08:29):
That I'm surprised by it. I mean, you have kids,
A lot of us do at this table, if you
lived in Florida.

Speaker 6 (08:35):
What two things they're not outlawed. That's good. The parents
are going to decide too.

Speaker 7 (08:41):
There's a cause and effect.

Speaker 6 (08:41):
And the CDC lied to us about COVID and they
lied a lot. They lied about masks in school, they
lied about distancing, They lied about the efficiency or the
effectiveness of the COVID nineteen vaccine.

Speaker 4 (08:53):
That's true.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
It is true.

Speaker 6 (08:55):
I said that distancing, did they did?

Speaker 3 (08:57):
They not lie about.

Speaker 2 (08:59):
The effective it?

Speaker 5 (09:01):
Yes, if you talk about mass if we're looking at
high quality masks, If we're looking at high quality masks, right,
so I would those mass absolutely permit infections because this
is the way science works. Science works as you get data,
the type of communication that you give, you can't say.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
You can't.

Speaker 4 (09:25):
I think I actually think it's important. It's very if
you're saying things that are doing the accurate. I do
think it's fair for her to count.

Speaker 7 (09:34):
She said that masking was effective and work when they
knew internal documents said, it came out that it didn't work.

Speaker 6 (09:40):
Okay, well, what does distance said?

Speaker 5 (09:44):
Misinformation and you're seeing in it at.

Speaker 4 (09:49):
Are you going to are you gonna are you going
to have a conversation? Are you just going to keep talking? Look?

Speaker 3 (09:54):
Hold on?

Speaker 4 (09:55):
Okay. First of all, what she is disputing is youranguage
around this, which is that they lied exactly, which she's saying.
I think she's right about this is not true. There
are certain types of mass that work better than others science.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
I mean, this is this is one.

Speaker 7 (10:15):
Florida did this. Let's just what you guys don't understand
that there's a cause and effect that American people don't
trust this for the reasons I said.

Speaker 6 (10:23):
You may not like that, you may not like the.

Speaker 4 (10:24):
Americans don't trust the CDC because RFK Junior and I.

Speaker 6 (10:31):
Got the job because people.

Speaker 4 (10:34):
Hold on a second, okay, man, just give me one second. Okay,
this this Florida Surgeon General has been railing against vaccines
for a while, but he's also responsible for a lot
of misinformation. He's altered key findings in a COVID nineteen
vaccine safety study. Practice he pushed things like cures like
ivermectin and others for.

Speaker 6 (10:57):
Not work.

Speaker 7 (10:58):
Now I have doubt that shows that did work.

Speaker 4 (11:00):
No, he is pushing affect Okay, Ben, are you really
going to argue with the doctor during.

Speaker 7 (11:13):
COVID You guys screwed us and we failed miserably a vaccine.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
Isn't it amazing how they're so angry that you have
parents that are going to have the right to make
a decision for their children what is best for them.
They cannot stand that the government can't dictate to the people,
at least in Florida, on the issue of vaccines. They
cannot stand to admit that the reason why this happened,

(11:42):
the reason why RFK Juniors and the government is because
the cause of effect of the CDC lying pathologically to
the American people every step of the way on the
issue of COVID nineteen, the effectiveness of vaccines and masking
and all the other things that I just mentioned. And
they're mad that this is happening in Florida. Now, look,

(12:03):
I think the people in Florida should be trusted. I
think the people in Florida should have the right to
do what's best for their children. And if the doctors
are angry that they say the science is overwhelming, that
these vaccine mandates should be a thing, Well, then they
should actually talk to their patience about it with compassion

(12:24):
and understanding instead of the arrogance that you just heard
right there from that doctor, condescending and frustrated of anybody
that would ever question her. As a quote doctor. You
heard it, and it's amazing that we're still even having
the conversation after.

Speaker 6 (12:40):
What we witness during COVID.
