Speaker 1 (00:00):
Antonio Rover's Morning Glory.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Oh what's happened? Spreading like I heard these outright?
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Now?
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Back to this show us coming up in just a moment.
What do you have on the way?
Speaker 4 (00:24):
Usual?
Speaker 3 (00:25):
A woman in Missouri was sick in bed and decided
to get out of the bed go to the store.
Wait to hear what happened to her after she got
out of bed. I'm gonna move around a little. What
she did next is crazy?
Speaker 2 (00:37):
All right, We'll get to that in just a moment.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
Jeffrey, what did you end up doing over the weekend
while I was gone long weekend?
Speaker 2 (00:44):
What'd you end up doing?
Speaker 5 (00:46):
I celebrated my son's birthday. Oh yeah, just took him
out to dinner, got him his favorite dairy queen Kate
of course, ice cream cake.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (00:56):
We visited my dad. My dad gave him some money. Yeah,
we're well, how much money my dad deal? My dad retired,
so he's been retired. My dad was able to give
him twenty dollars twenty dollars?
Speaker 2 (01:08):
How old is he? Twenty three dow three?
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Did you say, dad? What about an extra three dollars?
Give him the give him his age? Twenty three dollars
well I had, Well, my son didn't use that money,
and I pitched in twenty and he obviously got himself
a bike. Ooh, all right, a bicycle you know from
market place, from Facebook marketplace, that classic so we got.
(01:32):
We gotta put a little work, help and put a
little work into it. So it's a class Okay. So
we bought a non rideable bike for forty dollars.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
Yeah, and it always really needs his new too new
inter tubes.
Speaker 5 (01:42):
And you can just use a little lemon juice to
lubricate the sprocket and the.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
Chain boom, lemon juice to lubricate Okay, I see.
Speaker 5 (01:50):
The first thing that he bought it from, gave us
damn that little kind of hack to lubricate the just
Sprocket in the chain.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Like father, like son, Jeffrey buys a car and then
spends more money repairing said car than he did buying it.
Son buys a forty dollars bike, will end up spending
two hundred dollars repairing said bike.
Speaker 5 (02:11):
No, it's not, it's only two or two thin't gonna
cost that much, all right.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
But then my daughter and I we had a rare
chance to go to karaoke. Saturday night.
Speaker 5 (02:20):
I met up with my friend you know, what do
you do call you guys called the Redhead. Oh, we
were hanging out there. Her boyfriend DJ's at the barge
and she hangs out of and he said, he came
up to me and just said, jeff you can do
any song you want, just don't do the recor the
adult sing the record the Evan Fitzgerald, okay, because it's
(02:42):
a six minute song.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Oh, he's been on this for a while.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
It's coming up the fifteenth anniversary of the wreck of
the Edmond Fitzgerald, and he's been We're goet a lot
of facts about the wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald in here, well,
constant updates. You know that Rachel and Sales want they
they're doing something with the wreck of the Edmunds.
Speaker 5 (03:01):
It's a memorial service at the at the at you
know where the reck site is. It's up it's off
white It's I think thirty or forty miles off white
Fish It's say thirty or forty miles off white Fish Point.
On the tenth of November nineteen seventy five.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
They want to send Jeffrey Rachel and Sales wants to
send Jeffrey out there.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
That's brilliant.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
It would be great.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
What are you gonna do.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
You're gonna put him on a boat and he's gonna
float around out there.
Speaker 5 (03:27):
You know, just probably like what they do. Do I
think they do. I've seen I've seen this on YouTube.
They were reading of the names of the twenty nine
minute were lost. Uh huh, And I looked at I
looked at the list.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
That's a good number of those crewmen were from this
area and from around Ohio. Great from Toledo. And so
what song did you sing?
Speaker 5 (03:50):
I sang on Suspicious Minds by Elvis Presley.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Oh yeah, that's a favorite that Edmund Fitzgerald six minutes.
You should have picked up the longest song they had
available in the library. That's why didn't want you to
sing that song because it's so long. Yeah, he wants
you to sing a song too by Blur. You know,
in two minutes, you picked the longest son. You possibly
can't get your money's worth American Pie.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
It's not bad love that song. Heard the song American Pie,
but I never sang it.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
Oh it's a great that's a classic.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
So Rachel and Sales wants him to go out there
float her on on some boat or something during some
memorial service. And the Memorial service people whoever runs it,
they're like, yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Oh you can do taps.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Well, they're like, we don't really need anything again, but
apparently she still talked his way in there and she's like, oh,
it'll be great, Jeffrey can go out there.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
Okay, I I don't care.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
Well if he came in with the camera to prove unprompted,
she just walked in and said, Jeffrey, what do you
know about the Edmund Fitzgerald And then he just starts popping.
It was the best commercial for the Edmond Fitzgerald I've
ever seen, because he's just spouting it off the dome.
They who needs a commercial though? For the it's a
sunken ship, Like who needs.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
The anniversary that?
Speaker 1 (05:05):
Apparently there's a billboard celebrating outside and that's what's celebrating.
I mean saying, you know, commemorating. Yes, it's commemorating. Sorry, Tuji,
Are you ready for the shoozi? Yeah, here we go, jitda.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
Hizzy on Rolls Morning Glory. Former FBI director James Comy
is said to be arraigned today on two federal charges.
Comy has been charged with obstruction of justice and making
false statements by the Justice Department. The case is connected
to Komey's testimony before Congress is back in twenty twenty.
If you remember, he's accused of lying to the Senate
(05:40):
Judiciary Committee about leaking information from the FBI's Trump slash
Russia investigation that began back in twenty sixteen. Sources say
the case is thrown the US Attorney's Office for the
Eastern District of Virginia of Virginia into a bit of chaos,
which is why two prosecutors who normally practice in that
district North Carolina are stepping up to take the case.
(06:03):
So that will happen today. Komy is expected to plead
not guilty.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
All right.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
The President suggested yesterday that he may withhold back pay
from all federal employees once the government shut down ends.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
Any video of that, well, when you, okay, let me
shore not everybody.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
He's gonna withhold some people, some people.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
How is that possible.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
I'm going to guess I haven't seen this, but I'm
going to guess it's only from people who live in
blue states. They won't get paid I don't know, but
let's see here here it is just let Trump say it.
Speaker 6 (06:44):
Isn't the White House position that public workers should be.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
Paid for their that pay.
Speaker 7 (06:50):
I would say it depends on who we're talking about.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
I can tell you this.
Speaker 7 (06:54):
The Democrats have put a lot of people in great
risk and jeopardy. But it really depends on who you're
talking about about. But for the most part, we're going
to take care of our people. There are some people
that really don't deserve to be taken care of, and
we'll take care.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
Of them in a different way.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
Okay, thank you, all right, So some clarity to the
situation there, Okay, that that will get people to show
up at work. Uh, they're not getting paid as it
is now. And you'll recall that Trump has said in
the past when previous shutdowns that it's all on the president.
(07:30):
So the president president has to be a deal maker,
has to get things done.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
I has to get it, you know, to an all
rest on the president. Very retribusive toward three people. Well, yeah, because.
Speaker 5 (07:42):
He's been seeking gretchrid beaching against people that he feels
wrong him, like attorney general like New York Attorney General
Latis and James who attempted.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
Whould suit him over his business practices e g.
Speaker 5 (07:54):
And Carroll, who successfully sued him over You know.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
Here's Trump the Today Show a long time. You just
want to say, Okay.
Speaker 8 (08:02):
In my opinion, you know, I hear the Democrats are
going to be blamed and the Republicans are going to
be blamed. I actually think the president would be blamed
if there is a shutdown, and it's not going to
be a horrible shutdown because as you know, things will
sort of.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
Keep It was a partial shutdown, right.
Speaker 8 (08:16):
If there is a shutdown, I think it would be
a tremendously negative mark on the President of the United States.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
He's the one that has to get people together.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
All right, All right, Robert, you were in LA for
a few days. You traveled home yesterday. You said you
didn't take a direct flight, two different flights. I have
a friend whose daughter is flying back to Chicago and
they ended up driving because there was delay.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
And it was just a fast kid.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
Yeah, So they ended up getting in the car and
driving last night to get her back home for college.
And I'm happy to hear for you your situation was smooth, smooth.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
The show no is You and you know when you
have connecting flights. Is he's double the number of flights,
you know, double the numbers. I think it could go wrong,
lays and whatnot.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
Well, we just mentioned the shutdown and flight delays and cancelations.
Worse than yesterday. Is the government shutdown entered its seventh day,
so that of course strained aeror travel across the country.
The FAA reported staffing shortages at key airports, including Chicago, Nashville, Dallas,
and Newark, where air traffic controllers continue to work without pay.
(09:25):
They said that Hollywood Burbank Airport operated without on site
controllers for nearly six hours on Monday, relying on remote management.
How scary is that.
Speaker 9 (09:36):
I heard the recordings of that, like the where the
tower was talking to the planes and say, I think
we're going dark.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
We're not.
Speaker 9 (09:42):
We're not gonna be a earf to you know, go
through whatever channels to get guidance and the paths on
what is this because of the shutdown. They're like confused,
they're in the air confused. They think.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
More than thirty two hundred flights were delayed yesterday, according
to flight Aware, and union officials warned that fatigue and
financial uncertainty are taking a toll on workers, So you
are lucky that you got home.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
Look, I'm not blaming anybody for the shutdown. I'm not
blaming Trump, not blaming Democrats, not blomeming Republicans, whatever, but
you gotta get you know, this is this isn't accomplishing anything.
It's it's more of a headache and a hassle to
reopen things. And why put the country and workers and
people through this? They can't get the services that they need.
(10:28):
You have issues like this, you what is it going
to take a disaster occurring, some accident or something before
they get their act together.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
I just come on, let's get this done.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
Go on.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
A woman in Missouri was sick in bed for one week,
but she's feeling much better. So she decided, let me
get out of the house. We just get moving and
get out of the house. That might bring me some
you know, some better house, just to walk around. So
she went to the station and she got a pop
and a lottery ticket and she won one hundred thousand.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
Nice.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
Why no, I mean, give me a break. Netflix is
creating a competition series based on the board game Clue.
Not much else is known except players will go through
physical and mental challenges to earn clues. The classic characters
from the game, like Colonel Mustard, Professor Professor Plum, and
Miss Scarlett will be represented, but it's not clear how exactly.
(11:28):
And NBC has a game show based on the popular
New York Times puzzle Wordle in the works So Wordle.
We used to all play. I don't play it anymore.
Speaker 10 (11:38):
Do you?
Speaker 2 (11:38):
Rover is sometimes I play every day?
Speaker 3 (11:40):
Okay, so snits as your streak.
Speaker 9 (11:42):
Snits, I don't log in, so I just play against
my wife.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
Why don't you log in? I just similar to log in.
I guess I don't know. Cre you an account?
Speaker 1 (11:52):
M H.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
Jimmy Fallon is an executive producer for this Wordle and
Savannah Guthrie from The Today's Show is set to host.
And finally, there was a little bit of confusion coming
from Dolly Parton's sister. Now, her sister was asking the
public and fans please pray for Dolly, please pray for her,
(12:18):
and she was calling for people to stand by and
make sure that she's okay, and so everyone was freaking out.
So then the sister, because she did.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
Basically last night, I was up all night praying for
my sister Dolly.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
She hasn't been feeling her best lately. I believe in
the power of prayer. Blah blah blah.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
Yeah, So because of the panic that she created, she
is walking that back and apologizing. The sister jump back
online to post I want to clear something up. I
didn't mean to scare anyone or make it sound so
serious when asking for prayers for Dolly. She went on
to clear the air, saying that Dolly has been a
little under the weather and she just simply asking for
prayers because she believed so strongly in that. She said,
(12:57):
it's nothing more than a little sister asking for prayers
for her big sister. So I don't know what's going
on with Dolly Parton, because remember she did cancel those
shows too. I think it was Vegas and she had
to cancel those shows. So now that she's walking the
sister's walking this back, we're not really sure what's going
on with her. So everyone hopes that she gets the
rest that she needs and she's feeling better soon. That'shsy
(13:18):
On Rower's born in glory. There's a place where.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
The range content flows like water, and.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
The streets are paved with skid mark. Is it heaven Now?
It's better, It's Range plus.
Speaker 5 (13:33):
Sign up now at roverradio dot com.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
Somebody just send me a text message and says that
today is the deadline. From the fan who said they
would have given Jeffrey one thousand dollars if he got
his money back out of ascrow. It's been three plus
years that Jeffrey has had one thousand dollars sitting in
ascrow for a failed home purchase.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
He made no effort to get any.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
Of that money back either, even shunning offers from us
in the past. Finally, I said, if you're not going
to make any effort to get this thousand dollars back,
just sign it over to me. I'll go get it.
You're not gonna do anything with it anyway, so let
me do it. Then he springs into action, wants a
female attorney.
Speaker 2 (14:20):
Reaches out to him.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
This has been a dude, he wouldn't have had anything
to do with it, but it was a chick, and
so he's like, oh, okay, now some female attorneys trying
to help him get his money out of escrow.
Speaker 2 (14:32):
There was an offer on the table from.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
A fan of the show who said, I'll double Jeffrey's money.
I'll give him a free thousand dollars. He has nothing
to lose. If he doesn't get it by October eighth.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
He doesn't have to pay me anything.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
But if he gets it by October eighth, I'll give
him one thousand dollars. Where does your oooh, he doesn't
look like a happy look from Jeffrey. Where does your
escrow money stand at this moment? Are you going to
be the recipient of an extra free one thousand dollars
(15:07):
from that fan?
Speaker 5 (15:09):
I will know until I get my mail today, and
it's very likely I probably won't get it till probably
the end of this week because of the timing. All
I know is it's been recalled out from the state.
The title company I think has it has to go
through their protocols.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
And eventually cut the check and then mail it.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
Have you offered to them instead of sending me a
check for one thousand dollars, send me a check for
seven hundred and fifty if but I need it in
my hands by October eighth? No, okay, because I will
get you that three thousand dollars from the fans.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
So so you're.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
Telling me that you're gonna get it this week, I
believe so.
Speaker 5 (15:49):
So I'll be keeping my eye on my mail between
now and Saturday. Gonna just miss that deadline. Unfortunately, that's
the that's you know, just let it be up. Still
get in my ass s, grow money back, all of it.
Speaker 1 (16:01):
So oh, I'll tell you in a minute. Why we
see in Los Angeles? But B two and I wear
in Los Angeles for let's see. I think we went
there on Friday, we came back on we came back yesterday.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
And I was going to do a mini meat up
there and I did.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
Not and I did not see hiro from Los Angeles.
I was planning to do that on Monday, and then
I got sick on Monday, and so I haven't been
feeling great. I have a little bit of a sore
throat and I'm a little bit stuffed up. So I'm
(16:41):
hanging in there. Though you have COVID, I don't think
I have coat. Wearing a mask, Yeah, everybody else in
California was wearing a mask. I mean, it's insane. They're insane.
They're totally insane. I don't know what's going on out there.
They're all wearing masks, they're worried about COVID. Still, maybe
they have good reason, because maybe that is what I
I picked up. But I actually think that it was.
(17:04):
We were staying at a hotel and we go to
check into the hotel and we get there, I request
the digital key so you don't have to go through
the front desk or anything. And we get there at
about eight pm on Friday, and I figure, Okay, I'm
gonna keep looking for this digital key in the hotel.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
App never comes. It's the son of a pitch.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
And then at this hotel there's a long line at
the front desk. I go, this is exactly what I
was trying to avoid. So you have to go wait
in line. Finally get up to the front desk. They
got one guy working there, nice guy.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
But he goes.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
Oh, and he goes in the back room and I go, oh,
this is no good. He comes back and he goes, yeah,
I don't understand why I get it. It's eight o'clock
at night, your room isn't ready yet. No, yeah, my
money back, Just give me my all give me like
eighty percent of my money back.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
And I've just got done traveling. I've paid for it.
You're supposed to check on what three?
Speaker 1 (18:09):
I think checking the time is probably three or four
or whatever. And I'd even put in the app. I said,
I'm going to be there at seven thirty pm. I
give him at give No, I always I do it.
I do a little bit early because I'm going to
get there at eight o'clock.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
I knew I wasn't gonna be there, so.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
He didn't need to know that.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
Well, I didn't tell him that. No, that's just in.
Speaker 1 (18:28):
The app, And so then we had to sit there
waiting about an hour for them to do something with
them room.
Speaker 2 (18:35):
That's your fault.
Speaker 3 (18:36):
You should never have told them that gave them rush.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
Oh, no, rush, you'll get here, and then somebody forgot. Yeah,
I would never tell them. I would never tell them
what time I'm going to get there, just information they
don't need. Yeah, I will be there the second I can. Yeah,
at three, none of your concern. Have my room ready
for three o'clock if that's the case.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
I know that, and that makes sense.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
But there's there is a reason why I do that,
And that is just like how the airline gives me
free upgrades, the hotel gives me free crap when I
check in because I have so many points with them,
and they give you like what they give you, like
a fruit plate.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
Oh god, you're gonna eat the fruit plates. Who's not
gonna eat the fruit plate?
Speaker 1 (19:18):
I'm not the biggest fruit plate and a bottle of champagne.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
Rather be in my room than sitting around with a
fruit plate for an hour.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
If they what happens if you say I'm gonna check
in at four pm? They put that fruit plate in
there at three thirty and then you don't get there
until eight o'clock. Well, that fruit plate's just sitting in
the room for four hours, bugs and flies and everything
coming around. And that's why, that's why, that's why I
didn't do it.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
So how is the fruit plate? No fruit plate?
Speaker 3 (19:45):
A champagne?
Speaker 2 (19:46):
No champagne anyway?
Speaker 1 (19:50):
So I so then I'm waiting around, and they did
buy me a drink at the hotel bar. They go, oh,
we'll buy you around a drink so while you wait.
So we waited for an hour, and I don't know
what they were doing in the room. Everything seemed fine.
I was poking around, like what did somebody do like
crap and smear it on the walls or there must
have been a complete disaster.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
But then we're there for a few days.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
Then I think I realized what may have been going
on on.
Speaker 2 (20:16):
Let's see, we left on Tuesday.
Speaker 1 (20:19):
I noticed it a little bit on Sunday night, and
then Monday it was just it was really bad. But
I figured, we're leaving tomorrow, so why put up a
big stink about it?
Speaker 2 (20:34):
No, pun intended.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
A sewer smell was coming in from the bathroom.
Speaker 2 (20:40):
I don't know what it was.
Speaker 1 (20:41):
It was like a sewer gas smell or something like
sewer gas.
Speaker 2 (20:44):
I don't know. It was so overwhelming in there.
Speaker 1 (20:48):
And then I think what I noticed it when I
go in the bathroom and my wife, of course, she's like,
what are you doing in the bedroom, and go, that's
not me, it's something coming up. And and then I
think we just got used to it being in the
room laying that.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
I think that's what may have gotten me sick. Was
this sewer gas.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
That doesn't get you sick.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
You did smell the sewer gas, believable it was.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
It was so punkent and so pungent. Uh So you
go to any place with a.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
Bunch of people, Yeah, that's what got you sick.
Speaker 1 (21:25):
Well, I'll tell you what. I'll tell you what I
did when we come back.
Speaker 2 (21:28):
Let me take a quick break eight six section Yo, Rover,
we'll be right back. I got top notch news coverage
every weekday morning A.
Speaker 3 (21:42):
Boat of like four or five Greece men.
Speaker 2 (21:45):
That would be great men. Whatever. Yeah, this is rovers morning.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
Glory Dan from Binghamton, New York sent a text message
and he says they're still dead air on w k
g B bing Upton.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
Happens in the middle of commercial breaks. Poke the boss, Charlie.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
I know that Rover is going to tell you to
write a sternly worded email. And yes I am Charlie.
If you could bang out a stern way to worded
email to Eager Beaver our program he handles this stuff.
No k KGBGB okay GB and big up to New
York dead air. I think there's dead air in the
(22:28):
middle of the commercial breaks, is what this guy's telling you.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
So but you could tell how angry Charlie is.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
They know he means business by how hard he presses
those little chick lit keys in there. Okay, good, thank
you Charlie. All right, So what do you think there
was some speculation about what I was doing? In Los
Angeles over the weekend. And Charlie, what was your guess?
Speaker 2 (23:01):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (23:01):
Do a lipa do alipa? Very confident, very cocky. Jeffrey,
what do you think I was doing in Los Angeles?
Speaker 5 (23:08):
I thought you might be meeting with some of the
big weeks in LA. They have to be gathering in
LA for something. That's my best guess.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
Okay, all right, Dougie, what it was your guess?
Speaker 2 (23:20):
Bert Kreischer, Crystal, what's your guest?
Speaker 3 (23:27):
Oh?
Speaker 11 (23:28):
I thought it was maybe a business matter, some kind
of money making opportunity.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
Huh.
Speaker 1 (23:34):
And Spencer, your guest was what gonna be the movie?
Got my starring moment? Well, I do have some pictures
and video here here is me two and I get in.
So we get in Friday night. I told you we
waited to get into the hotel. We finally did. And
by the way, speaking of that, I mentioned I got
(23:56):
I was going to do a mini meet up on
Monday and hopefully meet Hi Rowan all of our other
Los Angeles fans that have been emailing me. And I
was planning to do that Monday night and then Monday early,
like I don't know, Monday, at about noon, I go
something's not right. I think it's the sewer gas in
my hotel room. I mean, the smell was unbearable. And
(24:18):
then I think you're soaking in this sewer gas that
you don't you don't even like realize how bad it is.
Dougie goes, date doesn't get you sick, plumber man says
state licensed master plumber for over thirty four years. Sewer
gas does make you sick. And punch the fart box,
says did do? She say, sewer gas can't make you sick.
(24:38):
Hydrich and sulfite, the gas produced from sewage, can have
serious health effects and could even kill you.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
Lucky you that I survived, dude.
Speaker 1 (24:50):
But anyway, so we get in on Friday night and
then Saturday morning we start a little bit of an
adventure and we are picked up at the hotel by someone.
And as we're driving, I swear to you no more
than two blocks from the hotel. We're driving and beats
(25:13):
who She goes. She goes, there's a naked guy over there.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
I go, what? And here is well?
Speaker 1 (25:20):
Here you can see just a gas station here in California.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
No, he's not changing.
Speaker 2 (25:26):
There is a man just oh.
Speaker 3 (25:29):
My god, with.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
His tennis shoes on. He has no license plate, and
he had no license plate in the front either. I
heard naked too. I don't know what this guy's doing.
I at first I didn't see it. I go, I go,
why she goes, there's a naked guy. I go, get
out your camera.
Speaker 1 (25:47):
And then I look over and there's is And then
he turns around.
Speaker 2 (25:51):
He I don't know if he was getting gas. I gas,
but I don't know if he went the throat. What
is he doing here? If he's throwing something away, I
don't know. But then he's he's walking around.
Speaker 1 (26:02):
Walking up, flopping, gets back into the suv. Wow, completely naked,
drives away like nothing happens, and nobody else in the
gas station noticed it. The best I can tell, we're
just sitting there waiting at a red light when this
was filmed. That was fun, strange, strange start to the day.
(26:25):
And so then we drive and we drive I don't know, man,
probably about an hour or so from the hotel. And
then we get to this sort of remote Teslate area
and I here's a picture that I have here of.
Speaker 2 (26:42):
Me in this it's on the Do you see that snuts?
I see you? You see me? And the gas station.
Guess he is the one. You're on the other gas station.
You still see the gas station? Yeah, what about now,
gas station? We'll see a gas station.
Speaker 3 (27:02):
This is not gonna work if I can't see the screen.
Speaker 1 (27:05):
I need to know, all right, home on standby, give
me a second here, mmmm, let me load this up.
Speaker 2 (27:16):
Let me go full.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
Screen over here, and there we go. You see that
on on snintz. Yes, okay, So we get we drive
probably about an hour hour plus away from the hotel.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
You run to the car. Someone else to driving you.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
Somebody else's driving in fact, and we get to a
desolate area.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
It's this guy here in the.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
In this photo, he's I'm sort of following this guy
r out in the middle of nowhere, and uh, let
me see him. We get over here, let's see. Oh sorry,
that's the gas station guy again.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Here here we are.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
You know, he's got an iPad out. I'm looking at this.
We got some charts uf on there, we're looking at
these charts and uh here we are.
Speaker 2 (28:06):
Still looking at charts.
Speaker 1 (28:07):
Just got an iPad up on a rock here out
in the middle of nowhere. The city is this isn't La, right, well,
this is outside of Los Angeles. Is in Santa Clarita, California,
I believe. And is this the guy who's driving you?
This is the guy that was driving us here? We
are triangulating something.
Speaker 2 (28:24):
Here, ilogist. Is that what you're do?
Speaker 3 (28:26):
You have sunscreen on your neck studying the rocks?
Speaker 1 (28:28):
What do you And it's no sunscreen, Thank you though, douche,
and so.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
So there you next kind of red let's see here, and.
Speaker 3 (28:37):
Then he's gonna wind my neck? Is those sunder and
I'm so stupid, I shoul.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
I'm that they removed from his face.
Speaker 1 (28:43):
So then the guy's the guy is triangulating. So then
I go, okay, I'm gonna climb up We've triangulated something here,
and now I'm gonna I'm gonna climb up here, up
these rocks and start scaling these rocks.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
Oh for your new home building up there. You'll recall
back in the sixties.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
Star Trek famous episode, Captain Kirk gets abducted off the
USS Enterprise and he gets sent to a desolate asteroid
the surface of an asteroid, where he encounters another creature
that has been abducted and put on the surface of
an asteroid, A gorn. There's Captain Kirk and the Gorn there,
(29:31):
and it's a lizard person and they're gonna fight. Ron
Song Charlie. They're gonna fight, and there's a there's Captain
Kirk that spoilers. Spoiler alert Captain Kirk if you haven't
seen this episode from sixty years ago. Captain Kirk builds
(29:52):
a cannon, takes him sulfur that he gets out of
the rocks.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
There to her guests, and he he.
Speaker 1 (30:00):
Shoots the gorn with a cannon and defeats the gorn.
And uh there you can see see those rocks there.
Let me go back there. See see those rocks right there?
Uh huh where the gorn is. See that rock that
Captain Kirk is is bending down in front of. Does
that rock look like the rock there in.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
The foreground shot some gorn porn the lizard person triums.
Speaker 1 (30:29):
Triangulated the very rock that Captain Kirk. Captain Kirk was
right here at this very rock, and I'm standing up
there in the background right where the gorn was Awesome, that's.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
Why you went to La to look at a rock.
Speaker 1 (30:44):
There's well, don't forget this shot here. This is Captain
Kirk when he first starts facing off with the Gorn
on the surface of this asteroid looks like Mars or something.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
Does, doesn't.
Speaker 1 (30:56):
It actually shot there in Santa Clarita, California.
Speaker 2 (31:00):
And so there you see the.
Speaker 1 (31:02):
Very same rock as I and B two and I
square off.
Speaker 2 (31:10):
Look at this, Look at this back.
Speaker 1 (31:12):
There it is it's sixty Star Trek is the plus
there's me I see this is the tree was just
a prop that they brought in, by the way, because
the Gorn snapped off.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
Coming out of the closet announcement or what is this?
What is it why?
Speaker 1 (31:29):
And then if you see you might never have recognized
it in the episode there with the Gorn, but do
you see behind them right in the middle, there's like
a rock and it's kind of.
Speaker 2 (31:37):
Like that's just the road. Okay, see that's the road.
Speaker 1 (31:41):
Right there, And if you go back sixty years, that
road is still there. They're just standing in front.
Speaker 2 (31:46):
Of a road. You would never notice that though.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
And so then we so we basically made a tour
of Star Trek filming locations that they you know out
here at vas because rocks is where this is.
Speaker 2 (32:01):
And then we went to.
Speaker 1 (32:05):
Uh Bronson Cave and Bronson Canyon.
Speaker 2 (32:09):
Can we see that? I want to see you.
Speaker 1 (32:10):
I do have one. I have a bunch of images
for that. I didn't put them all in there is.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
Let me see here.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
So I want to see a Star Trek image of
Bronson Cave.
Speaker 2 (32:21):
Well, yeah, what is the what is the I don't.
Speaker 1 (32:24):
Have any Star Trek images, but here is they've closed
up Bronson Cave anymore. No, no, that's that's that's fun'in
Jeffery standing close outside of the cave. That is also,
by the way, what you're looking at if you happen
to be watching r MC TV, which you can fire
up for a Rover Radio dot Com or with the
Rover Radio app on your phone, your tablet or your TV.
(32:45):
But if you watch the Batman TV series with Adam West,
Oh the exit. Do you remember the bat the car
comes out of the back cave and the they have
like a fake cave and then the sign comes down.
That's that actual cave right there. That's cool, but the
(33:06):
batmobile came out.
Speaker 3 (33:08):
Has b two watched these episodes of Star Trek?
Speaker 2 (33:11):
Does she know.
Speaker 11 (33:14):
You haven't even shown her? And go this is the episode.
You have to see this this scene because this is
where we're going. You don't even share that.
Speaker 3 (33:21):
Well, did she set this up?
Speaker 2 (33:22):
You set this up? Okay, set this up? She set
this up? She find No, this was yes, a non
physical birthday gift.
Speaker 1 (33:31):
You thought it was a threesomewhat they hook her the hooker,
but no, it was It was a with a gorner ghip.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
She u.
Speaker 1 (33:40):
She found various things, and we found doctor Shrek. That's
the guy's name, Doctor Trek, a very big nerd. But
you know, I say that lovingly. Doctor Trek took me
around all over Los Angeles to see various locations where uh,
Star Trek the original series was shot.
Speaker 3 (33:58):
Did you know go when you got picked up right
before you saw the naked guy? Did Was it a
surprise when you got there or did you know prior.
Speaker 2 (34:06):
To to prior? Okay, because it was she she wanted
to do it as a surprise. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (34:13):
And then then she goes she got in touch with
Doctor Trek, and Doctor Trek goes, okay, what does he
want to see?
Speaker 2 (34:21):
We got this, this, this, and this.
Speaker 1 (34:23):
We can show you where the We can show you
the park where the Klingon Bird of Prey lands.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
That's cool.
Speaker 1 (34:29):
In Star Trek four, the voyage home and she goes,
I don't know what any of this stuff means.
Speaker 2 (34:35):
So she alerted me. She goes, what do you want?
So she kind of clued me in. So that was
what we did on.
Speaker 1 (34:42):
Let's see on Saturday in Los Angeles, and then on
then on Monday, Monday morning, we get Smith's vee. Go
back to the video here you see a car, and
then you'll see on Monday we get into this and
we take a little raw right.
Speaker 2 (35:01):
I start the ride and.
Speaker 1 (35:02):
We get in a driverless car a waymo, which I
have not done before. But nobody's, nobody else is in there.
It is actually a driverless car.
Speaker 2 (35:15):
Oh you scared?
Speaker 9 (35:16):
Are you glad that it doesn't know that? You've talked
smack about driverless cars often?
Speaker 2 (35:19):
Well, it is coming. I bet you know. Snitzer said
we're gonna have driverless cars ten years ago. We have
COVID a little bit, A little bit today. A drink
in the couple. I don't know there is I'm not
sure because there's nobody in that drink.
Speaker 1 (35:35):
Maybe there's an invisible guy, Hollywood magic.
Speaker 2 (35:38):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (35:38):
But yeah, we took this ride because I saw these things.
I go, let me, I want to get in one
of these. I saw these waymos driving around Los Angeles.
I said, I want to get in one. But you
can see here it's just it's completely driving. Oh it's
it's it's right.
Speaker 2 (35:53):
And here it is.
Speaker 1 (35:54):
It goes around a truck that's sort of jutting out
into the street, and there was somebody else. At one
point in the ride there was I think somebody a
pedestrian or something that we avoided. And I mean it
stops at red lights and stop signs. I mean it
was pretty I have to say that I was very impressed.
This was way smoother than I know Tesla's improved their
(36:16):
self driving technology. Here it is making a left hand
turn by itself. Isn't that cool?
Speaker 2 (36:21):
I love it. I mean, this is gonna put out.
By the way, if you're an Uber.
Speaker 1 (36:25):
Driver, you're gonna be out of business and within the
next ten years you will not have a job if
you're an Uber.
Speaker 4 (36:33):
Driver unless you own like a fleet of these. I
guess is that the only way to know. I think
Uber will just own the fleet, it would be my guess.
So it worked very well.
Speaker 1 (36:45):
Oh, I'm sure they have all sorts of issues and
whatnot from time to time. It's a very complicated task
to get driverless cars and to roll them out. But
this has this is, this has lighter on the car
and everything. I don't have a picture of the outset,
I bek. You guys have seen waymo cars, I'm sure,
but there's a lot of sensors and stuff on the outside,
(37:05):
and it seems to me to work a lot better
than whatever Tesla's come up with. Now, I haven't seen
their driverless taxis yet that they're going to roll out.
Speaker 2 (37:16):
We'll see how how those operate.
Speaker 1 (37:19):
So then anyways, we get in that way, mel, we
take our our ride and we get to uh this
place here, which is oh wait.
Speaker 2 (37:29):
Sorry, Smith's stand by, let me see. There we go,
we get here, we get to Paramount Pictures.
Speaker 1 (37:38):
There's a lot of history here Paramount Pictures. Who Desili
was there used to be Desilu, which is Desi Arnez
and Lucille Ball owned the studio or at least half
of this lot back in the back in the day.
Speaker 2 (37:55):
It's my star treks a thing and do you know why?
That's right? So we we go in there and you, well, yeah,
b too set this up as well.
Speaker 1 (38:04):
And she the truck guy again, not with the truck guy,
but with a called Paramount in advance.
Speaker 2 (38:10):
Oh that's cool, we've got it. We've got you know.
Speaker 1 (38:13):
So they gave us a basically a private tour of Paramount,
the whole lot.
Speaker 2 (38:20):
There you can see at the beginning.
Speaker 1 (38:21):
Here they have an actual oscar is a real Academy
award they won for special effects, the only one given
out for special effects or something there, like in nineteen
fifty something or whatever. So there's B two holding that's cool,
an oscar, and they have some stuff here. They have
some Star Trek memorabilia. This is from the movies, from
(38:42):
the jj Abrams movies that were shot there at Paramount.
They have some props here. They have a phaser, they
have a communicator, they have tri corder there.
Speaker 2 (38:55):
These are all from the new movies.
Speaker 1 (38:57):
And then then we get to go into the sign
shop that they have there at Paramount. They make all
the street signs, plaques, anything that they need for shooting.
And there you can see some of the signs that
they have up there, the USS Enterprise plaques and things
that they have have made. Here's B two in a
(39:19):
turbo lift Star Trek turbolift that they made for one
of the movies. And then you can see here this
is me in with some of the guys that work
there at Paramount and what they've handed me.
Speaker 2 (39:33):
Let me see if I have a video. I have
a video of this. It's really getting nerdy here. But
these guys work there.
Speaker 1 (39:40):
What they they That's Ron and Leonard who worked there,
and they they said, they go, oh, you're a big
star trek fan. I go, that's right, and they go, oh, well,
we have something here. We have a screen used phaser.
It's in my office right now. And it is in
(40:00):
my office because we have a new CEO. Paramount was
brought out by David Ellison who his company sky Dance,
who is the son of a billionaire guy who made
who found an oracle, the computer, the database company, whatever,
And so they have a new CEO and he goes,
he goes, hey, I want these various props in my office.
(40:22):
And so they have this phaser that they are going
to put in the CEO's office and they're putting it in.
They're making a little plexiglass case for it, and he goes,
so I have it in my office if he'd like
to see it, And I said absolutely, so he's shown
it to me here, CEO, so let me hold this
(41:00):
phaser and stuff.
Speaker 3 (41:02):
That is so neat.
Speaker 1 (41:03):
And speaking of getting bought out, they are bought up.
They were bought up by this company's sky Dance. They
owned like everything now and here they are. They're actually
while we were there, they were repainting the Paramount water
Tower to put up the sky Dance Company logo there
underneath it.
Speaker 3 (41:19):
That's really cool. Did you see that picture or when
you were the video and behind the sign in the
sign room it said, uh, I love Lucy with the heart.
Did you see that? Like, that's just there's so many classics.
Speaker 1 (41:32):
I didn't even notice it. For Star truks, she is
the reason there is a star truck. Yeah, they made
a pilot. They made a pilot, and they didn't like
the pilot.
Speaker 2 (41:42):
They go too.
Speaker 1 (41:45):
Think too much, this is this is too cerebral, I
think was the exact term. So then they they allowed
her to redo, you know, to she bought this studio
or whatever, and they redid a They got rid of
the captain and they got William shat turned to be
Captain Kirk. They redid a pilot and then here you
can see on the paramount lot. You see stage thirty
(42:08):
and thirty one and you see the Hollywood sign in
the background.
Speaker 2 (42:13):
I know that. And then this is I don't know,
I don't know what it is. Oh, okay, I know
what this is. This so this is well, I don't
know if you know what it is.
Speaker 1 (42:25):
Maybe you do, but here is so Stage thirty one
is the actual sound stage there. I am outside of
it and stage and here's the plaque. So Star Trek
was filmed in this. So you were thinking different. I
thought something else was filmed there. Star Trek was filmed
(42:46):
in this sound stage, and so I got to go in.
Here is let's see. Here's this is what it looks
like on the inside of the sound stage where they
were doing this.
Speaker 2 (43:00):
You looked at a little bit. Yeah, that's it.
Speaker 1 (43:01):
That's where they made the original. So when the show
is going on, do they move the set in and
out or they just leave it? They leave it so
theyve it's in there for five years. This was on
stage thirty one and thirty two. They shot Star Trek
for all those years. Stage thirty one is where they
had the ships, all the stuff that they all their
regular sets. So where the bridge of the Enterprise, all
(43:23):
the everything sick by, all the stuff in there, and
then the stage next to it is where they would
build out temporary things that they would need per that episode.
So if they have like some oh, we're on a
star base or whatever, they would build that in the
in the stage next to there.
Speaker 3 (43:41):
If you look at that list in that timeline, how
many movies were filmed in there in that one year?
Speaker 2 (43:45):
Was it ninety three?
Speaker 1 (43:46):
Maybe you go back to that picture, well, yeah, you
can see Indecent proposals filmed in that same sound stage,
Cone Heads, Adams Family Values, Wayne's World two.
Speaker 3 (43:57):
Wow, that's one year. That's in and out everything that's
fantastic and.
Speaker 1 (44:04):
That So in that stage was was let's see here
it was so this this is what would have been
on that stage. Stage thirty one I think it was
stage nine back in the day is the number of it.
But that was the bridge of the Starship Enterprise there.
That's an awesome gift, very very cool. Were you like
(44:26):
so happy I got to see where my piece of
Star Trek memorabilia was actually used. I didn't filming. I
bought a piece of Star Trek memorabilia at auction.
Speaker 2 (44:38):
Piece was Penis.
Speaker 7 (44:42):
No.
Speaker 1 (44:42):
B two bought that one. She was the highest better there.
So I got to see where that piece of memorabilia was. Actually,
did you tell those people this is what I have?
I bought this and they went, cool, keep I play
my cards. Oh man, they don't even know.
Speaker 2 (45:00):
I don't even know. Actually I told the paramount person.
They go, oh, that's cool. They were. The paramount person
was also a big Star Trek fan. When do we
get to know?
Speaker 1 (45:10):
It's visible in this photo that I'm showing you right there. Look,
it's definitely visible. My piece of Star Trek memorabilia is
in this photo.
Speaker 2 (45:22):
You bought Stulu He's going to show up next week.
Oh my.
Speaker 1 (45:33):
So anyway, so that's what we did, and so nobody
was correct. I did not go to a dual lipa concert.
I did something way cool. I got to see all
of these I got to see a bunch of rocks
where Star Trek was filmed.
Speaker 3 (45:46):
Did you talk to anyone or say see anyone for dinner? Nothing?
Speaker 2 (45:52):
Not a thing.
Speaker 3 (45:53):
What city did you stay in for your hotel?
Speaker 2 (45:57):
What suburb our hotel was in? Hollywoo?
Speaker 3 (46:00):
It was okay, that's pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (46:02):
Swee. Yeah, we did a little bit of sightseeing and
that kind of stuff or whatever, and it was it
was a cool trip.
Speaker 1 (46:09):
And I'm such a nerd that to me, Like, I man,
I'm that those rocks, dude, I love those rocks. I
always wanted to go see those stupid rocks where they
filmed these Star Trek episodes. And here I am standing
in front of those rocks. Would be too, Like it's
been used in like a million episodes and a million
(46:31):
other movies as well.
Speaker 2 (46:32):
Really like what it's weird to actually see.
Speaker 1 (46:34):
So you drive out like an hour or so outside
of Los Angeles and you get out there to these
rocks and the whole thing. I wish I had another picture,
but like right behind, like where the camera is, where
he's taking this picture from. It's just a dirt parking lot,
so like it seems like you're in the middle of nowhere.
Speaker 2 (46:51):
But you can just film there very very easily.
Speaker 1 (46:54):
And it does look like a foreign you know, like
a like another planet, an alien planet or something.
Speaker 2 (47:01):
So that was B two's birthday gift. What did you get?
Speaker 3 (47:05):
Hurt me?
Speaker 2 (47:07):
What did I get her? What for her birthday? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (47:10):
Oh I don't remember nothing that wait till she turns
fifty years old. I'm gonna get her something forgot what's fifty? Yeah,
that's right, the Big Five.
Speaker 3 (47:18):
Oh it will be Backstreet Boys tickets.
Speaker 1 (47:21):
Mm hmm uh uh an orgy with the Backstreet Boys
for her fiftieth birthday. They'll be desperate at that point.
All right, I've got to take a break. We do
have these shizzy coming up the news. What do you
have on the way dog.
Speaker 3 (47:36):
Robin Williams's daughter is begging, pleading with the public about
something regarding her dad, begging them and.
Speaker 1 (47:45):
I'll tell you what it is next. All right, Well
find out what that is right after this on rovers. Yes, one,
I just saw another video that's just something real quick.
That's because I've looked at the Wikipedia page for this
what your your rocks?
Speaker 2 (48:00):
And I just one. I just this is pretty cool. Wait,
the rocks have a whole page.
Speaker 3 (48:04):
Oh yeah, loves to stop it.
Speaker 2 (48:08):
There's a whole I mean.
Speaker 6 (48:09):
There's wait, these are the same rocks were now the
best rocks. That's gotta be. That's definitely green. They went
there to film it's well, they might have filmed that.
Speaker 2 (48:24):
I don't think. Did they take Michael Jackson out there
a bunch of Indians running tell me they actually or.
Speaker 1 (48:35):
Or he had stuff just in a screen and then
they put him could he's being recorded in a studio,
not that part that's life. So yeah then, but that's
just part of the I mean, did you look at
the Wikipedia. There's many things there and those rocks, oh
my god, supernating. Charlie's got the Wikipedia page pulled up here.
He'll give you a whole rundown of the rocks you.
Speaker 3 (48:57):
Were where Michael Jackson was there. That's cool.
Speaker 2 (49:00):
Here's just let me just look at it right here
a second. That's your takeaway. Michael Jackson have been there.
Speaker 1 (49:05):
Cooler Kark was there multiple episodes.
Speaker 2 (49:09):
Of not only the original series but the Next Generation film. There'
not even gonna bore you with.
Speaker 1 (49:16):
All the the Next Generation that I have felt the
farce was their games, requests, the movie holes, great plint
Stones here.
Speaker 2 (49:27):
It is, I mean, the powers, oh wow, Army of Darkness.
Speaker 1 (49:33):
And that's just that's just the movies. Then we'll go
to the TV shows. Every TV show ever. Yeah, I mean,
it's it's music videos so close, but it looks like
you're out in the middle of nowhere, but it's accessible.
You can drive your truck, a semi truck right up
there and film and and do whatever that you need
to do.
Speaker 3 (49:51):
That's really cool.
Speaker 1 (49:52):
Power Rangers. That does look like Power Rangers. Yeah, oh,
the Power Rangers. I I read something about the headquarters
of something in the Power Rangers was right there in
those same rocks that I showed you, those big, big rocks,
the famous ones.
Speaker 2 (50:12):
There right there.
Speaker 1 (50:14):
Jimmy b you'ron Rovery's morning Glory, Good morning, Jimmy B
over ci r by, what's happening.
Speaker 10 (50:22):
Hey, I'm curious what your teake of the homeless situation
out in Hollywood was, because I was out there a
few years ago and I thought, you know, the reporting
was a bit exaggerated until I got there.
Speaker 2 (50:33):
And it was overwhelming.
Speaker 10 (50:36):
You know, around town here, if you walk around downtown,
you'll see the homeless person here or there. But it
was you were stepping over people. There were tents on
the sidewalk and campers everywhere, to the point where I
can't believe the studios don't clean it up, like they
would have a vested interest.
Speaker 2 (50:53):
In putting money into it. But I don't know, Maybe
it was better when you were around me. I didn't.
Speaker 1 (50:58):
They must have cleaned it up to some extent, because
I did not see that. What I did notice was
there are an incredible number of shuttered businesses there on
all the streets Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood Boulevard. They're all, I mean,
just tons of closed and shuttered businesses that you wouldn't
even really notice. But they've done a good job, unlike
(51:21):
other cities where I've been in where there is just
vacant building after vacant building, they cover it up with
like plywood street level and they paint the plywood black,
so just black plywood that you're walking by, so you
don't realize, oh my god, there's, you know, another empty
storefront here, another empty office building. So it's that was
(51:44):
that was crazy. The other thing that I noticed was
that we went to the Paramount lot and they have
I don't know how many sound stages, forty fifty, I
couldn't tell you.
Speaker 2 (51:56):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (51:58):
You would think it would be a beehive of activity,
nothing going on there. We saw them shooting a TV
show called The Rookie, and we saw them shooting.
Speaker 2 (52:12):
Well, what was it, uh.
Speaker 1 (52:17):
Ah man, I don't know if it was Matt Locke
or NCIS was also shooting.
Speaker 2 (52:23):
But other than that, you would think there would be
like people working there.
Speaker 1 (52:28):
Executives are completely empty, a complete ghost town. So I
think what you've been reading and I was read, I
have read a lot of stuff that the like for
sound stages. I read this like a month ago, that
the usage of sound stage. So you know, studios have
sound stages that they use for their own productions or
they rent out, and then there are some sound stages
(52:49):
that are just some studio lots that are just you know,
rented out. So if you have a TV show, a
sitcom or whatever that you need for a year or
what you rented out, that the occupancy of those historically
has always been at about ninety seven percent sound stage occupancy,
it's down to eighty percent. Of what I read like
(53:10):
a month or two ago, and what I witnessed was,
I mean nothing, nothing was going on. It was crazy,
like how little activity was going on there. So I
think that a lot of these productions have moved out
of California to shoot in cheaper places. And I also
(53:32):
think that productions are being made now where you don't
need as much. You know, they're being done on the cheap.
They're being done.
Speaker 2 (53:41):
You know, before you could, it was very difficult to
shoot on location. Everything you'd have to take out.
Speaker 1 (53:47):
I mean it still is, but I think more people
are shooting on location and cheaper places now, cheaper states.
They're giving more tax incentives and things like that up
in Canada, whatever. But I was blown away by that,
by how little activity there was. Anyway, I gotta take
a break.
Speaker 3 (54:07):
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Oh my god, that's cool.
Speaker 2 (54:10):
That was a good video.
Speaker 1 (54:13):
Just at the same rocks anything that these rocks very
I really like these rocks.
Speaker 3 (54:18):
That's pretty cool.
Speaker 1 (54:20):
I think there's a better shot. See so am I
now there? Now the rocks are cool Star Trek. Part
of the rocks were okay, this is sweet. There's some
hold on, I got more, I got more. We're rocks,
Rihanna Rehab don't even know this song. They're at the rocks.
Speaker 2 (54:39):
The rocks.
Speaker 1 (54:41):
That is cool. I wonder how many times I've seen
these rocks countless endless times. They're in everything, literally everything, commercials,
TV shows, movies.
Speaker 2 (54:54):
And rake in riky in Krik.
Speaker 10 (55:06):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (55:14):
Housed in a lot of stuff.
Speaker 1 (55:16):
But importantly, Star Trek, the next generation Star.
Speaker 2 (55:19):
Trek movies, all the star trek stuff, all right.
Speaker 1 (55:22):
Most importantly, the Village covered the Village People album called
Cruising Rover You're doing.
Speaker 2 (55:32):
He's cruising for a day. Yep, all right, we'll be
right back on Rover's Morning Glory. Hang u
