Speaker 1 (00:00):
Kevin is across the table doing the Weezer hand sign,
which looks just like the Wu Tang hand sign. It's
the Bend and Skin Show ninety seven point one The Eagle.
Thanks for hanging out with us on a Friday afternoon.
I hope you have lots of good stuff planned for
this week and a couple of iconic businesses or filing
for bankruptcy. We will get to that here in about
twenty minutes. But Kevin, let's pick up where we left

(00:22):
off with a list of overhyped shows and movies.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Yeah, I would be clear, there's not mine.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
Just found this off an outlet online, but just kind
of people kind of wait on some movies and TV
shows that are overrated.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
How about this one.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
I haven't seen this, but I know it's very popular
only murders in the building.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
I haven't seen it, so I wouldn't know.

Speaker 4 (00:41):
Yeah, and I'm trying to I'm kind of struggling with
this because I'm trying to think of where it would
be overrated, Like like the critics just said it was
better than it was.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
You know, it gets nominated for Best Comedy every year
and did it win.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
No, it was like so.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
Okay, so it would be things that are not winning
bear not a comedy, the Baron ted Lasso, which are like,
you know, you'll work hard to find the humor that
I don't know, Okay, I don't know that one. Stranger Things,
I would disagree on that. I think Strangers Things is
properly hyped. It's not the greatest thing of all time,
but I think it at the end of every season

(01:16):
Stranger Things, I'm like, it served.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
It's perfect.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
That's one that I could understand if it depends on
what perspective it's coming from. If it's coming from the
critics perspective, they're like, come on, man, this is like
fast food entertainment, right, this is not deep or anything.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
It's cool. I loved it. I really enjoyed it, but
is it done?

Speaker 4 (01:36):
It was so unhrked up, so I could see that
maybe I'm trying to understand.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
I think, like the thing.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
About hype two is all right, what what is the
what are the circumstances surrounding it? Stranger Things came out
of nowhere and became a cultural phenomenon, and there was
truly unless y'all can think of something nothing like it.
When it came out like the way the sort of
nostalgia it was serving up was very, very unique and different,

(02:03):
and so it felt really amazing in that regard, and
then I didn't even know it was still going. It
also had a couple of breakout stars, which is always
a big deal, but.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
I, as I was watching it, kind of lost it.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
You're a tough page, though, because you don't keep up right,
that's fair, And I think of for me, hype, I
don't I don't care about what critics say because they're
pretty pretentious, you know, like I don't care what they're into.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
And so when I think of hype, I think is
you go to a party and everyone's like, dude, are
you watching this? Like right now, the White.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Lotus is hyped up? And so that's one that I
would be like, Okay, this is so hype, let me
go watch it, and I'm like, dude, why is everyone
so into this? So I could see that happening deciding
it didn't happen to me, but I could see somebody
watching Stranger Things going Man, this did not delivered to
the hype.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
Yeah, Ted Lasta is another one on here, and I
gotta say I agree one hundred percent. Now this this
one is more about this is a show everyone loves,
talks about, tweets about, and awards, and I do think
it's good. But I heard people like people wrote articles
about how the show changed their life. Oh and you know, hey,
if it did that to you, that's great. But I'm

(03:15):
sitting there going, man, this show's not made me laugh enough.

Speaker 4 (03:18):
It is a toxic, pessimistic world, and so having a
little ray of sunshine is good. But maybe i'm it
did wasn't enough to hold me, Like, I'm like, I
want some darkness.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
I feel like every single person I talked to is like,
this is the greatest show. You've got to watch it,
and then after season one they're like, you.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Know, did they still do it? Dude?

Speaker 1 (03:42):
Yeah, I continued to watch it.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
I watched one episode on a plane and I was out, Yeah,
that's yeah, it's almost too easy.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Then you called it Avengers in an Infinity War, an endgame.
The movies at the end.

Speaker 4 (03:56):
Makes it just makes all the sense of the world.
I don't know why people are so excited about that
is the same thing. He's got superpowers and so then
he can fight these other bad guys with all the superpowers.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
And if the world is at stake.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
That's Ben Rogers what I prefer the DC stuff, Bennett
Bennskin dot com. I just don't understand how we keep
coming up with the same ones with your problems, Ben
at Benning's.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Although somehow the Batman movies got good all three? Was it? Nolan?
The Nolan movies are great.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
Those three are good and this last one was pretty
good too with the vampire.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
Did like the last one?

Speaker 1 (04:33):
Dude, I love the Penguin, but when it was over,
I needed something to soothe my soul.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
And that's why we watched Shrinking. Yeah, I forgot about
the ending of the Penguin. That was a dark ass show.
See that. That is what the White Lotus didn't do.
To your point that the guy who makes that, Mike White,
he walked up to the ledge, I'm gonna jump off
the ledge. Yeah, not jumping.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
Darkening, but not I you were saying, because we're about
to get into the last of us this Sunday night. Yeah,
and it's like that, into Baby Billy's penis on the
Righteous Gymstone.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
We are talking. But the Penguin, the penguin that's taking
it to the darkest place. Here's this sweet character and
we're gonna murder him on camera. Hey man, I was
gonna finally finish the penguin this week. We don't know
which character I'm doing now. There's only one sweet character
in the whole show.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
Ben. We're gonna put Christina in time out. We'll get
to the four o'clock hour. I think we're gonna play
some Don Dawkin later in the show.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
That's what I mean. We play rock music, all right.
Coming up next, two iconic businesses are facing bankruptcy and
public whiz talk. That's all coming your way. Yeah, it's
all coming your way, all right,
