“If a burger is chef-designed perfection… should you dare to customize it?”In this flavorful and laugh-packed episode of The Ben and Skin Show, the crew dives into a Father’s Day feast full of unexpected moments, burger philosophy, and a surprise musical connection that’ll leave you grinning. Join Ben Rogers, Jeff “Skin” Wade, Kevin “KT” Turner, and Krystina Ray as they serve up sizzling stories from their weekend—including a burger joint that’s quickly becoming legendary in DFW.
Skin recounts his Father’s Day trip to East Dallas’ Burger Schmurger, where the burgers are smash-style, the vibes are strong, and the waiters are burger purists. When Skin’s dad orders the “Pasadena” without tomatoes, the crew debates: is it sacrilege to tweak a chef-curated burger?
In a wild twist, Skin discovers that one of the dads at Burger Schmurger is a musical collaborator with the elusive Light Farms Giant—a local legend with a serious case of writer’s block. Could this be the spark that reignites the LFG?

Speaker 3 (00:17):
Guys.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
If you remember, we were at chalk Taw Casino and
Resort on Friday. I remember I went there and uh,
we were talking about what we were going to do
for Father's Day and I had mentioned that I was
going to take my dad to Burger Schmerger in East
Dallas at three o'clock on Sunday. Man, not only was
it delicious, but the place is packed at three o'clock

(00:41):
on a Sunday afternoon. And there were several listeners there.
Wow that heard that. You know, Hey, you're gonna be
a Burger Schmurger. Great, I'll take my dad to Burger Schmurger.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
How cool is that?

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Hung out with a bunch of dads. Hung out with
a bunch of dads. And so the one of the owners,
the guy who created Burger Schmurger.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
You'll love this man. He's got a really sweet daughter.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
I think her name is Stella if I remember correctly,
But she was walking around the restaurant wearing a shirt
that says I love my dad, taking pictures of people
that were there with their dad for social media.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
Ooh, that's great.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
And I thought about the whole idea of like, Okay,
you got a small business going, of course you're gonna
put your teenager she might have been early twenties, I'm
not sure, put her in.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Charge of the social media.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
And so she was out there taking pictures of dads
wearing a shirt that says I love my dad.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
That's awesome.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
One of the guys that was there was also a
musical collaborator with the Light Farms Giant. Oh my god, really, yes,
And I was completely unaware of this. He had even
saying some harmony stuff with the Light of Farms Giant.
I think I've met this guy before.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Yes, Is he disappointed in the writer's block that lfg's
had over the last four or five years.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
You know what, maybe this will inspire him to get
back in the lab because I think this particular guy
actually works for the LFG as well. So they're probably
listening right now smiling and laughing. But anyways, uh Burger
Schmerger smash burger style everything gets cracked up to be
magically delicious. I can't wait for you to try it.

(02:17):
Then I can't wait to try it either.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
And so when you're eating it, I mean, this is
kt you say it's the best burger in town.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Yeah, I mean, I think comparing things is a terrible
thing to do, but yeah, it's my favorite burger in town, right,
steven A.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
But it's one of the best. It's definitely in the mix.
But what is it about it? Like when you're eating it,
are you like in heaven?

Speaker 3 (02:36):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's an ecstatic experience for sure.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
I think crazy kind of different.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
It's really good they have. And here's the other thing too,
this is this was my favorite part of the day.
So our waiter, his name is Kai, and he's like,
he's basically saying, look, dude, you've come to Burger Schmerger
and we are rated the top burger, you know, in DFW,
so you probably should just get it the way it
comes like. He's not saying it in a jerkish way,

(03:05):
but there's several burgers and he's explaining, if you're gonna
come here and have this experience, and you know, you
don't need to be taking things, not because you're changing
the carefully balanced, chef designed burger. And so my dad
is like, okay, good, I'll have the Pasadena without tomatoes
on it.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
That's not one of the ghost Hey, dude, I respect
it though. It's like, dude, I am my own chef. Yeah,
like I don't. It's like we always talk about the
greatness of Twisted Root. Yeah, you're your own chef there.
That's one of the best burgers in town. But it's like,
that's great that you've come up with your own chef
curated way, Like I don't want onions, so have at it.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
Just make it without the onions.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
Let me recommend to you the first time you go,
get the Schmerger that's what I got, and get the
onions and just get it as it comes.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
Yeah, I mean I just basically said.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
I was like, look, I want to make sure there's
no pork on anything I get. Don't eat pork. And
I'm not a big Mayo guy. He goes, you won't
really taste mayo. You don't even know a sauce. Yeah,
and I'm assuming it's part of the special sauce, but
smurger sauce.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
But I don't know for sure.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Did you enjoy the flight sauce? I got the sauce flight.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
We got a flight sauce for French fries, and then
I drank a big German, a delicious coalsh made by
Roller Rollertown beer Works.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
It's our brewery.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
But anyways, it was. It was a fantastic experience. I
loved it. But that was my favorite part of it
was my dad sat there and listened to him and
not he goes, great, I'll have the Pasadena.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
Without tomatoes on it. And it wasn't like it wasn't like.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Trying to dunk on the guy or anything like that.
He's like, he's what eighty two eighty three, he's eighty three.
He didn't need some waiter telling him. I heard you
cuss out a waiter on the air one time. He
didn't need some waiter telling him how to order a burger.
I'll kick a waiter's ass. And let me just say,
my dad at eighty three is getting around better than me.
Because I tweaked my back this weekend. I can't sit down,
I can't lay down. I'm taking Dville every six hours.

(04:53):
It's just it just sucks getting old. You can't get
in the doggie or the downward dog whatever. I can't
do any of that even in their nap, just snacks
off a weekend, got out of control.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
Yeah, so burgerschmurder. There there's one location, and is it
like a part of another business? What are their expansion plans?

Speaker 1 (05:12):
I don't even know. Do they have the other one
still open over there on Haskell?

Speaker 3 (05:15):
Okay? So high five in High five yeah, yeah, okay.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
So they started as a food at the bar, yeah, yeah,
And now they've got their own brick and mortar over
there at Buckner and what are they Buckner and Butner?

Speaker 3 (05:28):
Yeah, they're Buckner and by the Lake. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
Anyways, good good Father's Day, yeah, type your Father's day
all right, there it is pray for skins back all right?

Speaker 4 (05:37):
Coming up next, KT, where you gonna take you in
the Hollywood Shuffle?

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Well? Why is this deep cut from the nineties charting
all of a sudden out of nowhere
