In this fiery and brutally honest segment of The Ben and Skin Show, the crew dives headfirst into the Dallas Cowboys’ second preseason game—and it’s not pretty. Kevin “KT” Turner leads the charge with a passionate breakdown of the team’s defensive woes, while Ben Rogers, Jeff “Skin” Wade, and Krystina Ray bring their signature blend of insight, sarcasm, and side-splitting commentary.Ben sounds the alarm on the Cowboys’ refusal to address long-standing issues on the defensive line, while Skin hilariously questions the legitimacy of a cornerback battle between “players you’ve never heard of.”

Speaker 1 (00:01):
Now it is cool around the sports k TD twins
as all the sports.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Y preseason game number two happens Saturday night. Did you
guys have a lot of fun taking that in? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (00:16):
I mean it was, Uh, it was. I mean it's
not as much fun as watching a real game, obviously
because a lot of spares are playing, but it was
kind of an important one.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
It's very strange because I'm a big believer in one
preseason game is probably good, but it still happens. It's
important for roster spots forty five through ninety. I've always
said that, but boy, this one feels a little different
to me now as a guy who's working real hard
to get on the shoddy train. You can't just like

(00:46):
have no first downs. You have to at least possess
the ball. We can't evaluate any players, and that's not
even what I want to get into here. If you
want to get into the Mingo injury, I want to
focus on defense here. We'll do all if it's at five, okay, okay,
se Osa is not playing. Oh so Diggie's walk a
defensive tackle not playing? Solomon Thomas got him? Ye know,

(01:08):
he's not playing right now.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Local guy Kevin, but he.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Said, let's get Mozzie Smith. We'll see what he's got. Yeah,
they're defense Tackle's see what he's got. Seventh round pick,
Jay Toya, Big DTV, Big Guy, Big, some guy named
Perry and Oprah Winfrey playing some DT. It's good, dude,
Cooper Russia is just out of hand. The ball the
running back and the running back is like, I'll get

(01:33):
seven yards And it was a sign of things to
come to me. So I'm not encouraged at all. That
was bad. Yeah, that's the most concerning thing. Like Joe
Milton is the story and we'll talk about that later.
That's the national story, it's the story for locally. I
guess how about we still can't stop the run? That's yeh,
gotta be a problem.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
Mazzie Smith being a bust is one of the worst
things for the Cowboys. Like it's just that if you
miss on a round pick, that's just brutal. You just can't.
You shouldn't miss on those. And I know what happens
that not everybody hits on every pick, but I mean,
and they've known that he doesn't fit, they've known that
he's a bust, and they haven't really done anything to

(02:13):
address it. That's that's the most concerning thing about the
Cowboys to me, is you run into these problems like
last year they couldn't stop anybody either, and they knew
that the interior of their defensive line was a problem.
They didn't really do anything. They brought back Osa and
he got paid a lot of money, but they didn't
do anything. They're not addressing it. They're not using resources.

(02:34):
They're not going out getting a player who's a big,
giant body to just stuff the run in the middle.
And this is not new like it'd be one thing
if you, oh my god, this unforeseen problem just happened.
We've all known this was a problem. The whole world
knows this is a huge problem. They're not addressing it.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
You under the race for I mean, there's that, and
I don't know you could sign like right now. I
mean they've they've made trades in the past. Jonathan Hankins
was an in season trade and give a third day
three draft pick. But the other thing is like, do
you guys know who your starting slot corner is. We're
having a big battle between Keemon Hall and Zion Childress
and it's like, okay, well those good teams don't have

(03:12):
players have never heard of fighting for spots, starting spots.
I mean players never heard of. Like if you were
like even a fan of the team, like you would know,
like you're a fan, Like, Okay, we've been lucky all
these years we've had Jordan Lewis, we've known what that
position is and how we're going.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
Okay, we talked about this when you were gone. Micheuded
did a roster evaluation and for the fifth cornerback he said,
player that's out there somewhere.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Which they did sign a g after the UFL today.
Oh who they get? Uh, you know my guy, Michael
Oja Madoudie. I really don't know, man, Yeah, some guy
never heard of it. I said Stefan Gilmour would be
here because he was like randomly in the building for
the tired Smith retirement.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
Where's he right now?

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Uh? Home? I guess plants Madden. I don't know, man,
I don't know that too. Like it's very strange.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
When is their first or their second round pick? What's
his name?

Speaker 1 (04:02):
Revel?

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Yeah, what's his story?

Speaker 3 (04:05):
Like I know he's hurt, but.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Yeah, we're kind of hoping he'd be you know, get
some reps right by now, but maybe not. They they
obviously have not been very clear about his timetable, and
they're not worried about that because he's a long term project.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
What about Diggs.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Diggs, I mean, I mean it would be I mean
he was late in the year when he got hurt,
so I mean I've always put like week eight on him. God,
mid mid season for Diggs, mid season for overshown. Yeah,
if even that right. But the other thing, they've had
a good burst of talented past Rusher. Obviously, Mike is
not playing and there's no new news on that, and

(04:41):
they're gonna wait, and they may not get this done
by week one. I'm sure they will Labor Day probably
justin Houston is a guy who is playing awesome and
should make the team, and he's a guy no one
that really accounted for the problem is that's like your
deepest position. So like, although Sam Williams might be bad, dude,
Sam Williams look like trash on Friday, on Saturday, really uh,

(05:01):
and Mozzie Smith still looks like trash like, But like,
Sam Walliams is kind of counting on him, and I
know you get a little grace period coming off injury
it's like we kind of need you to do something
as well. We are counting on you. It's a contract
here for you. I'm I'm officially concerned now because you
you don't just get trucked twice and then be like
it's all good, it's all good, and he's I know,

(05:23):
we're not showing anything. And I'm going against my rule
of ever evaluating the preseason seriously, but if you get
trucked again on Friday, just completely devastated, then how am
I supposed to think that you're a playoffs.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
They're using the word physical a lot, like, hey, man,
we are going to be a physical team. You just
you you know what, Just hang on man, you know,
because we're gonna get physical.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Not yet, the later we will, uh and later we
will talk about the other issue, and that is the
Joe Milton dilemma. I actually think it's a great thing,
and I'll explain why at five o'clock. We got the
Today game coming up. But coming up next, what's going
on one in Dallas? Early reactions from the schools cell
phone band. We'll discuss next
