"What happens when admiration turns into obsession—and social media becomes the gateway to stalking?"In this gripping and unsettling segment of The Ben and Skin Show, Kevin “KT” Turner takes the mic for a chilling edition of True Crime Turner, diving into a disturbing trend: stalking in sports. The episode kicks off with a haunting tale of a 19-year-old maintenance worker who became fixated on UCLA basketball star Kiki Rice, culminating in a cross-country trip, a rented U-Haul, and a handwritten card. Joined by Ben Rogers, Jeff “Skin” Wade, and Krystina Ray, the crew reacts with a mix of shock, humor, and insight as KT unpacks a five-part investigative series from The Athletic. From creepy catfishing to fake IDs and forged last names (yes, someone actually changed their name to “Hooshmanzada” to sneak into a gated community), this episode explores the bizarre and dangerous lengths stalkers go to—and how public figures are increasingly vulnerable in the age of social media.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Guys, let's go to Kevin and now for the latest
in crime. Serial killers, cold cases, cult leaders, and blood.
And you know him, you fear him. It's time for
true crime KT.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Kevin, what's your question for?

Speaker 3 (00:15):
Ojay had an alarming problem that I read about all week.
The Athletic did this five piece series on stalking in sports.
We'll get into it maybe once a day this week
because there's some catfishing, just some crazy people.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
The first story is it's about a few.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Different instances, but it begins with a guy who's a
nineteen year old maintenance worker living in Washington, d C.
And he saw a picture of this girl who plays
for UCLA Basketball women's basketball. Her name is keky Rice.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
She's beautiful.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
He then started watching interviews with her on YouTube and
then says he felt something magnetic between them. Oh no,
and the months that followed, he sent her dozens of
messages on social media, changed the background of his phone
to a picture of her. Then he flew to La
rented a U haul and parked near the UCLA campus

(01:12):
for days and slept in the back of Oh my
God of the U haul.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Yeah, I don't think that has good ventilation.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
He stood outside the practice facility waiting for her. He
once set on a bench for hours with roses and
a handwritten card that read, Kicky Rice, Once upon a time,
you cut my sight through a life full of strife.
You got me through the night. I want to do
something cosmic with you that will be enough till the
end of time.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
It read like a like a rat. Yeah, he's from Boston,
Is that what?

Speaker 3 (01:41):
No? I don't think so. So then December twenty first
comes and uh, there's a basketball game between UCLA and
Hawaii and kick your Rice is warming up and she
just kind of felt something weird presence and he is
on the second row. Now keep in mind he's messaged
her multiple times with social media.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
So that is what he looks like.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
Yeah, I think nineteen, okay about her age, she's like
twenty one right now, I think. And he's in the
second row, standing up, He's wearing a suit, and he's
just locked in on her. So UCLA ended up banning
him from all the facilities. They're putting up signs that say,
do not engage with this person if you seem oh,

(02:22):
we've had that at radio stations we worked at in
the past, or they put up a sign of a
guy who'd been trying to creep into the building. Yep,
you know I've seen that before here. I mean, I've
had to stop, but I was doing morning. He had
to stop someone from trying to get up and go
see Bow and Jim, and I'm like, okay, well you
can't be.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
On this floor. How did you get up here? And
he just tried to sneak its way in as a
long time ago.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
But so despite the band, he tried to attend another
UCLA game by entering through the students section and she
kind of mixed in with some students and he's nineteen,
so how are you gonna So he got in, but
then he got arrested and was charged with stalking. So
then they interviewed this like forensic psychiatrist and he was like, yeah,
he's now one of the first people to study the

(03:04):
stalking of public figures. And he is like, yeah, this
is happening more in the last decade than it's ever happened,
and a lot of it is because these people are
out there because of social media. In this series of stories,
the Athletic identified at least fifty two stalking cases over
the last five years.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
It's a lot of females. There's a few males, and
we'll get to that later in the week.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
I remember the Caitlyn Clark one, Kaitlyn Clark and Paige
Beckers one too, because Page Beckers had a guy who
was trying to go to Connecticut.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Wasn't that Caitlyn Clark guy from here? He was and
he drove to Indiana?

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Yeah, yeah, big problem. There was a situation that we'll
get to later in the week. Teja hushman Zada, remember him.
A lady changed her last name to his last name
to enter his gated community, saying that she was married
to him.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
How bold it is to change your last name to
hushman Zada.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
That is wild.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
That's pretty wild. And you know, we're gonna get a
lot of Uschmann's out of jokes too. But you wouldn't
think twice if you saw, if you were security in there,
she showed her id, you'd be, oh, yeah, who else
would have?

Speaker 3 (04:07):
Then? Right? All right? And the stuff about Kaylin Cark
and Pagebacker has talked about quite a bit, and we've
talked about done these stories on the show. We'll get
into the Aaron Donald Donald one later in the week
that guy. I mean, do you when these people start
targeting your kids? Oh, things get a little crazy. And
again we'll cover that later in the week. There's also
another one for every big case of notable figures. There's

(04:29):
also some under the radar ones that don't get picked
up by the national media, like this one. A forty
three year old man downloaded images of some FEMA tree runners. Okay,
then he started combining them with pornographic images because you
can do that with technology now, and then he started
messaging them, the runners, about how he was stalking them

(04:50):
and wanted to capture them and kill them.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
Ooh, I always had a while back. But he was
sentenced to fourteen years in jail. He'll be loose in
four years. Wow. I always feel deceived when I see
fake porn with famous people. Really yeah, it's like, come on,
what are you searching? When you find it? It's just everything.
It all just pops up.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
Homemade sex tape or leaked sex tape? Is your search
history's got to be off? Are you saying homemade? Yes?

Speaker 2 (05:16):
Okay, all right, there it is. There's true crime turner
out there solvent cases so you don't have to
