"What happens when a beloved coach leaves, not because of the game, but because the vibe got… spooky?"In this gripping and hilarious episode of The Ben and Skin Show, hosts Ben Rogers, Kevin “KT” Turner, and Krystina Ray peel back the curtain on the shifting culture inside the Dallas Mavericks organization—and it’s not all slam dunks and high-fives.KT kicks things off with a sports rundown that includes the Rangers’ heartbreaking 6–5 loss. But it’s not all doom and gloom—there’s a silver boot, a kevio costume, and a private plane involved. Then things get real.Former Mavs assistant coach God Shamgod opens up in a podcast clip that stops the crew in their tracks. He describes the Dallas environment as “spooky times,” hinting at a shift from Mark Cuban’s family-style leadership to a colder, corporate culture. His loyalty to Luka Doncic is unwavering, calling him “never a passenger… always a driver,” and placing him in the same breath as Jordan and Kobe when it comes to the it factor.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the world famous Ben and Skin Show.
Coming up here in a bit, we're gonna get into
little Dallas Cowboys football talk a little Javante Williams. We
got the Today game coming up. Some wildlife news, oh
story about a wild pack of lawless, outlawed dogs here
in Dallas Fort Worth. We've got to get into that.
But this segment right here is brought to you by
the Frankeles. We just gave you their phone number. We're

(00:20):
gonna give it to you again. If you've been involved
in a wreck that's not your fault, call the Frankeles
two one four three three three thirty three thirty three.
They're local guys. It cost you nothing to call the Frankeles.
If you were a friend or a neighbor, anyone you
know has been involved in a wreck, call the Frankels
two one four three three three thirty three thirty three.
But right now it's time for this. Now, let's go

(00:42):
around the sports KT twins as all the sports.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Yes, all right, So, uh the Rangers loss last night
six to five. They got down six to one, they
clawed back. We thought it might be a comeback situation.
Just couldn't finish the deal, ran out of time. What's
a real bummer here is at the trade deadline when
they traded some prospects for Merrill Kelly. You trade him
for a big game like last night, and he ended

(01:10):
up just getting rocked. So you need to win tonight
and after the show, I'm hopping on my private plane,
gonna fly down to Houston, put on my Kevo costume,
and bring home the silver boot right tonight. If the
Rangers do win, they do have the tiebreaker over Houston, Yeah,
which could pan out, but the Rangers would need to

(01:31):
go probably seven and two, eight and one maybe maybe yeah,
probably seven and two in last nine games to get in.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
What a bizarre season. I think they're cooked.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Weird, hate to see it, but you know, they to
be such a good pitching staff, Like we're not used
to that here, the Ranger fans, we don't ever get that.
Like we've always had way too much offense, not near
enough pitching, and now it's the exact opposite where we
have way too you know, way ton of great pitching,

(02:01):
like best in class starting pitching, but worst in class offense.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
It's truly sad, and yeah, it's like how did this happen?

Speaker 1 (02:08):
And then right when you're ready to just say, God,
what a kick to the balls, the little rascals start playing.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
Well.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
These guys who you have no high expectations for all
your or many of your biggest stars are out and
injured and not able to play, and you really think
you're cooked. And they prolonged hope and they came in
and somehow we're able. Guys who just you wouldn't expect
anything from are carrying the team. But they've just puttered

(02:36):
out here and they're probably cooked.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
At this point.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
You absolutely hate to see it, but you know, wednd
night and then we can talk about what's going to
happen this weekend and maybe some of you will win
a four pactor. You have to see the Marlins on Sunday.
So Luca Whole of Wall Street Journal cover piece about him,
really no new information, but it's just more pr of
him being in shape and all that good stuff. Godsham

(03:00):
God was an assistant coach for the Master a long time.
He left to go to the Orlando Magic. He was
doing a podcast and I have two clips. I thought
it was pretty interesting, right and I'm gonna play it
right now.

Speaker 5 (03:12):
And the thing about Dallas was it was just getting
spooky times. Man Like it was like like I love Dallas,
you know what I'm saying, And I'm cool with everybody
that's over there, even though I'm left. But for me,
Orlando was just an amazing spot. You know, Coach Mosley,
you know we coached together in Dallas. That's like one
of my closest friends too. So like you know those

(03:32):
people who you feel you could trust your career with
and like even if y'all don't agree, you like, I
still know this.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
Person got my best interest, right.

Speaker 5 (03:40):
So like when you don't have that where you don't
feel at then that's hard because you got going there
and work every day. And then when the thing happened
with Elle, that means Luca is like that's my little bro.
And he was like holding it down like it wasn't like,
you know, we could get into some metrics about this
or that.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
I'm gonna tell you one thing.

Speaker 5 (03:59):
When the game was the biggest and the brightest, he
was never a passenger.

Speaker 4 (04:04):
He was always a driver.

Speaker 5 (04:05):
For me, It's Jordan, Kobe, Luca when it comes to
the it factor, right, So like we could sit here
and we can say, yo, it's not this, it's not that.
But like the man's twenty five. He's the second all
time leading scorer in the playoff history, you know what
I mean, people who play this game. He's second only
to Jordan.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
I thought he said a lot of things without saying it,
But I think when he said, when you don't feel
like people are looking out for like what's best for you, Yeah,
like he doesn't trust and that's maybe like the new
corporate atmosphere that the MAVs are now. Yeah, and he
goes running the thing is like a corporation, Yeah, real
quick to.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
He does think as you said, like spooky times.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
Yeah, it's just you know, the environment that he's describing
and other people have described it too, is that, you know,
it's almost like you have big corporate money that came in.
And there's a difference between a giant corporation and a
Mod Paul operation. Cuban Ran it like a family owned
business and there's that familial connection. The corporate side may

(05:04):
be more revenue results driven and more I don't know,
like cold blooded, like it just comes down to whatever's
on the spreadsheet, Like the familial personal connection doesn't matter and.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
The revenue results, partner don't necessarily makes sense to trade Luca.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
But you're trying to figure it out.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
No, No, I think I'm talking more about the environment,
you know. But yeah, and that is you know, in
a corporate environment, you have people battling for position and
trying to gain leverage, and you know, kiss somebody's ass
and gain power and then block out other people who
aren't don't want to be political.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
It can be a toxic environment.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
I know we got to go, but I do want
to play this one. We'll make up for it later
in the show. Wildlife news come up in a bit.
But here's this.

Speaker 5 (05:50):
This year in the finals, it was six different people
who led six different categories. When we went to the finals,
Luca led to every six categories even stills.

Speaker 4 (05:58):
Right.

Speaker 5 (05:59):
So when you say, like this person is out of shape, okay,
that's cool, But when you go to the hard copy,
he played more minutes than everybody in the NBA in
regular season and playoffs, right, So then for me, it's like,
and he averaged thirty nine and nine. So it's like
what we like, what we talk about in real time,

(06:19):
And the biggest thing with me was that that was
double by ls Lucas knew. Luca has never told anyone
to cut somebody, trade somebody. I need more help, I
need this. That's half the battle right there. You know
what I'm saying. And be went in the office in
Philly and told him to dud Yo, were not listening
to y'all. You know what I'm saying. So like when
the thing went down, it's just like it's like one

(06:42):
of those things where you like, man, somebody treat you,
treat your man like that is only a countdown to it.
So you're basically saying that need a major part in
the decisions for you to leave with how Luca exited dollars.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
Yeah, yeah, And I never heard anyone call him l
and dude to go work with Jamal Mosley.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
We got to see him on Saturday too.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
One of the most beloved guys in all of the NBA.

Speaker 3 (07:05):
And what they're doing in Orlando super promising. All right,
there you have it.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
There's around the Sports coming up next in the Wildlife News,
A wild pack of lawless outlaw dogs is in DFW.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
What does that mean for you? We'll talk about that
next
