Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ah.

Speaker 2 (00:00):
Yes, it is the world famous Ben and Skin Show
ninety seven point one The Eagle. Thank you for tuning
in today on a Thursday. All hands on deck today,
Ben Rogers, Jeff skin Wade, Kevin kt Turner, and Christina
care a little baby cornbread Ray. Tomorrow, we're going to
be doing our show from the Pluckers in Dallas. We'll
be there from three to six. We'd love you to
stop buying and see us so much to get into.

(00:22):
On today's show. We got to talk about the top
twenty five comedians of the last twenty five years. We've
got plenty of cowboys stuff we'll get into. Christina brings
back the synonym game. That's gonna be a lot of fun.
The top ten stadium foods coming up at four o'clock.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
We got some music news Netflix.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
That store opened at the Galleria today, so we'll get
into all that with Skin is tracking some things. But
as we get this party started today, there are a
couple stories that we may get into at different times
in today's show that are catching my fancy. One time
we talked about yesterday, and it's the return of Philip
Rivers to the NFL, which is the weirdest thing ever
due to is forty four, forty five years old, had

(00:59):
a Prescot but yesterday and looks totally like kind of
a bloated dad, something we're very familiar with. And it's
just like they asked him, hey, man, what is your
weight right now? And he goes, well, uh, I don't know,
but it doesn't really matter. I was never running away
from anyone anyways. That's a great answer. First of all,
his answer should have been I don't know a couple

(01:21):
of weeks or so. And then the other thing is
if you think about all the old quarterbacks when you
watch like Aaron Rodgers does this, the second there's even
a hint of pressure, they just throw it away, like
all the old dude Stafford even does it, and he's
he's younger than these other guys were talking about. But
the second there's just a hint of pressure, they just

(01:41):
throw it away. And now you'll hear Aikman go and
even Romo they'll go, great play right. It's basically the
equivalent of what Dion Sanders used to do when he
was about to take a hit or have to hit somebody.
He would make a business decision yeah and have no
contact yep.

Speaker 4 (01:57):
And now the old quarterbacks that are watching this, that
are calling the games, they're thinking, Man, I wonder if
I could still do that. They're praising them for just
wasting it down because they can't move anymore.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
That stories catching my fancy. The deal with the Michigan coach,
which I can't tell. And it's hard in this day
and age to know what news is real and what
is not. And there's so many rumors around this, and
so I don't know what's real and what's not. And
I had a long talk with my son about this
last night, because he's all about college football. This is
one of the craziest stories of our lifetime. I think,

(02:29):
oh no, this is gonna be nuts.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
And I think when the details come out, because like
I think about college football fans, are people in college
football who follow it closely.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
That are in the know.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
They do really they get some rumors, and then I
feel like it comes true for college football fans more
than it does for like fans of pro teams.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
Dode they college football fans live on message boards. Yes,
they live on message boards.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
And uh, this guy, I mean, hey, there could be
some max implications here. I would hate to say that
out loud and spake. But there's already people throwing out
that the Alabama coach would be a great fit if
he just wanted to get out of Alabama and go
take the Michigan job.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Now why, I saw that too, and I understand why
you would do it, because it's not even as good
of a program unless you thought, Okay, there's they're gonna
have more NIL money or you have more job.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
Security, maybe easier to win at ten. Maybe it's so hard.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
To win in the SEC, dude, but maybe already the
king of the Mountain.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
Yeah, the clean slate though, Yeah, I mean, and they
were calling for his job after a week three loss, right,
and they thought they're trying to count and coach of
the year at the end.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
But even if he doesn't go, he could leverage this
into getting a new deal with Bama.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
But this is a thousand percent I mean one thousand percent.
Why uh both Shryzhevsky left and then Blake on the
name of they do that was at Alabama before SABAN
because they have this storied legacy that it's is impossible
to keep up in NIL.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
It's impossible.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
It's just Texas Tech is in the now because all
those old oil and cattle guys brought the money.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
And I think you had you got to look at that.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
I think that's an important point because who are the
big money guys at Bama.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
They got they got old big Southern money down there.
I mean, they don't run, they don't have money like
these other schools. They're not they're you go there.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
They have to win in their state, and you go
there because of the pride of the brand. They're not
gonna go money whip people there, and they're and you
said the pride of the brand. And the whole point
is that all of that is a new frontier. All
those old legacy programs none of that matters anymore. So
Michigan's a legacy program, but it is easier to win

(04:37):
in their conference.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
Than it is in the SEC.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
But the idea, the story is that their head coach
had an affair with a staffers, a young, younger person.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
This is a married guy with kids. He has an
affair with her. The rumor is that she may have
been or can you even talk about the river.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
This is legit, like let's say, like unconfirmed, highly just
rumors online. This is not like the substantiated reports on this,
but that everyone who's talking about this, even the reports,
somebody's like, well, this took a dark turn.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
So something abstantiated. That he got fired for having.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
An improper relationship with a staff member, which is both
two words for peen.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
But he also was arrested. He was shot out there, there's.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
A mug shot and those details are still not clear
clear let me just say, but they will come out.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
You do not get arrested for being fired as a
football coach, right, So there's more to whatever is happening.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
There's something to it.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Anyways, we'll get into that and we go around the
sports at some point today. Oh that's four fifteen. And
then the other thing that's caught my fancy and is
that is that these rumors, again these are from good
sources that the Rangers are open to taking offers for
Corey Seeker, the power phase of Corey Seeker. So you
think about if you were to go back a couple

(05:56):
of years ago and say, okay, Luca Micah and Corey Seeger,
three biggest athletes in town, and all could be gone
in such a short amount of time. But I see
this one as being significantly different than the others like you.
This dude makes like thirty thirty one thirty two million
dollars a year for the next what six six years? Yeah,

(06:19):
so he's getting paid a ton of money. Last year
he didn't produce like a guy that's worth that. And
as you move forward, I mean, you already won a
championship with him, You won a World Series, So why
not be open to trading him if you You don't
have to be You don't have to trade him. But
if somebody blows you away one of these rich teams
that is going to trade a bunch of hell, if
the Dodgers won him, great, go build your all star team,

(06:41):
the Red Sox or whomever, give up a ton of prospects,
and then get out because when you sign these guys
to these contracts, you're basically overpaying them for the back
part of the deal. If you want to get out
of that now, great, I have a problem with that.
I see that that would not break my heart like
Luca did. Obviously, then to a lesser degree Micah did.
Would that break Kell's hearts?

Speaker 4 (07:02):
It wouldn't break my heart just being baseball, and you
already got your championship.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
If it's a bad trade or not right? What do
you get back? What do you get back? Absolutely matters.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
No, I don't. I don't think you trade the trade.

Speaker 4 (07:13):
But I'll say this more than parsper Star affects me
less because you can have the two best players in
all of baseball and not win your division with the Angels, Yeah,
and they weren't close to winning their division anyways. Those
are just some of the things that are that I'm tracking, Skin,
What are you tracking, Well, we're gonna do that next Ben.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
It's a fun game.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
My wife involves me in it every single day, and
I'm going to bring it to the show and I'm
going to play it with you guys.
