Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to today's edition of the Clay Travis and Buck
Sexton Show podcast. Welcome in Friday edition, Clay Travis Buck
Sexton Show. I hope all of you are having fantastic Fridays,
and I hope we can continue that as we roll
through the course of today's program. We got a lot
(00:20):
to discuss Supreme Court, but maybe most significantly, Buck, still
no ruling on presidential immunity or on whether or not
the Sarbaines Oxley Act can be twisted to allow the
January sixth protesters to be charged with obstruction of proceedings.
Those are two still monster cases that are out there.
(00:45):
My prediction for a while now has been that they
will drop these into sort of the holiday weekend basket
because a lot of people are going to take off.
We got July fourth on a Thursday and a Friday
looking ahead, as I know many of you have probably
planned summer vacations around that week. I think they're going
(01:05):
to drop it somewhere in the vicinity of there to
kind of deaden it into a holiday weekend. That's been
my prediction, but we'll see what ends up happening. They
did have a major ruling on a bump stock case
right that I saw you tweeting about. That is the
right result so far from your perspective.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
Absolutely, a chair is not a sofa, and a duck
is not a flamingo. A bump stock is not a
machine gun. This is rather straightforward. And for anybody who,
first of all, I don't even know if you own
a bump stock, please like let us know, like right
in and be like, hey, I love my bump stock.
(01:45):
I know what they are. I've never fired one. I
don't know anybody who has one. It's kind of an
enthusiast thing. Some people have them. You can mimic a
bump stock by using your belt loop, so it's the
whole thing. I mean, it never was a smart ruling
in the first place, and six y three is the
right ruling in my opinion.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
So there you go. Okay, So Biden is still I
believe in Italy it has not gone well. The G
seven is meeting there. Many different videos of Biden have
gone viral on this trip so far, all of them
having to do with the space cadet aspects of his presidency.
(02:25):
Front page Italian newspaper ridiculing Joe Biden for being out
of touch, slow speaking, halting. We got to go to
Italy to get honest news reporting.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
I don't want to jump in on your mono intro here, Clay,
but we are forgetting something very important. It is President
Trump's birthday today. It is President Trump's birthday. So just
want to say happy birthday the greatest President, President Trump.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
There you go, seventy eighth right, seventy eight forty five,
the forty fifth president, soon to be the forty seventh
sixty A hair of a thirty five year old, health
of a health of a twenty five year old, according
to his doctors. Biden did and you were watching MSNBC.
We've been texting about this this morning. You took out
like the biggest MSNBC fan on the planet. Let me
(03:15):
you let me know what you want me to jump
in and give you a window into what it's like
to watch MSNBC in the morning, because this morning was
a plus. It was phenomenal. So, first of all, Joe
Biden addressed the hunter. Biden he only took two questions,
and we're going to play you the cuts, and they
were preapproved questions. Joe Biden says, Now, by the way, Buck,
(03:35):
he's not going to pardon or commute the sentence of
Hunter Biden. We certainly do agree that that is not
an honest answer, But Joe Biden wants you to know
Hunter is one of the brightest, most decent men he knows.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
Listen, in regard to the question regarding the family, I'm
extremely proud of my son Hunter. He has overcome an addiction.
He is He's one of the greatest, most decent men
I know. And I am satisfied that I'm not going
to do anything I said. I advide by the jury decision.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
And I will do that and I will not partner.
He also said he wouldn't commute him. Okay, I just
want to play this. This was the press conference. Joe Biden.
Cut three says he's only going to take two questions,
So listen to this, and then I want to play
when somebody goes off script. The fact that we've just
accepted this is normal is bonkers. Here's cut three. I
(04:31):
will do what you're going to take.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
Two questions from America reporters, and two questions from two
American reporters, and a question needs from two ukraineate A
supporter reporters. The first the first person I'm to call
and is calling long and associated press.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
Okay, so Buck, they're giving him a list of who
he's calling on, and he's been told exactly what they're
going to ask. And here is cut four. Somebody goes
off script and asks him something he's not expecting, and
he lectures them. Listen.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
I have a question for President Zelanski shortly on the announcements,
but if you don't mind, I'd like to ask you
about your discussions on the situation in Gaza here at
the summit. You're asked us a short time ago about
it after the skydipping demonstration. Can you give us your
assessment of Hamasa's response and do you believe that they
(05:25):
are trying to work towards a deal or is this
response working against a deal? And what is your message
to allies, including those here at the G seven, about
what more, if anything, the US can do to drive
towards a piece of greement.
Speaker 5 (05:39):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
I wish you guys were a little play by the
rules a little bit. I'm here to talk about a
critical situation in Ukraine. You're asking me another subject. I'll
be happy to answer it in detail later.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
Okay, are you as troubled by this as I am
bucked the idea that oppressed which is supposed to be independent.
We know, I understand that we have basically provda in
many different aspects of the American political press now, But
the idea that the president, who never holds press conferences,
(06:13):
who virtually never does interviews, would be able to have
his team script who's asking questions and exactly what those
questions are, and that Biden would lecture if they're broken
the rules just a little bit. I think it's a
big story and it deserves discussion, even if it's not
particularly surprising. Even you think I think it's a big story.
(06:38):
Barack Obama didn't do this, Like you could rip Barack Obama,
you could writ Bill Clinton, this is every day. I
mean this is but with Joe Biden, like this is
every day. But I think we've gotten so used to
the idea that he doesn't actually answer questions and they
script everything and that they write it, that we shouldn't
avoid calling out how abnormal it is is, particularly when
(07:01):
it's getting noticed in Europe and they're like, this is
the American president. They're calling out our president more than
our media is.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
Yeah, well, I hate to be that guy, but I'm
going to be. This is why they're holding a debate
as early as they are. They're going to pump Biden
full of stuff. He's going to seem energetic and with
it during that debate. Just just mark my words, everyone,
I'm telling you what's going to happen. He's going to
(07:31):
seem energetic and with it that debate. The entire media
apparatus then goes all out play messaging all summer. Biden
still the best option. Sure he's older, but did you
see how sharp he was at the debate and all
this stuff, all the you know, the he doesn't do
press conferences and he wanders around and he's like mister.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
Magoo except evil.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
All of that gets swept aside by look at how
he did in the debate, which is why they're holding
a debate in June quite obviously. I mean, look Trump,
it's his birthday and he gave himself a birthday president,
which was sharing the greatest hits of Biden. You guys
have do you guys have this one? The greatest hits
of Joe Biden. President Trump shared this on truth social
(08:15):
which then also got shared elsewhere, And uh, I do
we we must have it. Where is that one? You
know what I'm talking about?
Speaker 1 (08:25):
Yeah, no, I showed right twas night they truth to
be self evident. Oh man, we were creative by go
you know the you know the thing.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
America is a nation that can be defined in a
single word. I was gonna foot him foothills in the
MLAs withing ping. He knows so long that he is denied,
I'll see never be secured.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
We'll never forget lying around and.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
Said him, lying around. Actually, it is noteworthy that the
percentage of women who registered to vote and cast the
ballot is consistently higher than the percentage of the men
who do so.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
End of quote, Repeat the line, how lated effect the
strategy to bubbilize?
Speaker 3 (09:14):
True?
Speaker 1 (09:15):
And I to pressure Those are two of the best,
by the way, Truman, not sugar and prayer. That's one
of my favorites.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
But also end of quote, repeat the line is his
true Ron Burgundy moment. I just I know, look, it's fun.
I mean it's also kind of shocking and horrifying. I
know he's the president and this is what we're dealing with.
But you know, we sit here, Clay, we poke fun.
I just I don't want anyone to have false hope
that Biden's apparent decline in dementia is going to be
(09:47):
the silver bullet, so to speak, for this election. Like
it's it's just not this is not the panacea. This
is not the thing that's going to turn the election
for Joe. I mean, do you like I actually this
is I think that is the election.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
I do think that ultimately it's going to come down
to for the Look, we agree that there are forty
five percent of Trump supporters or Republican voters conservative. However
you want to classify a forty five percent of Biden,
there's about ten percent of people, let's say, that are
persuadable in some way, and I think that's probably even
being a little bit excessive. I think for those ten percent,
(10:23):
it's going to come down to, yeah, I don't really
like Trump or Biden, that they're the double hater brigade.
Some of those people will vote for RFK Junior and
other third parties, But when they make that decision between
Trump and Biden, I think it's going to come down
to Trump's kind of a jerk in the mind of
these people. Biden's brain doesn't work, and I think these
(10:46):
people are going to come down on the side of
Trump because if you have to choose, if you had
to choose out there right now at your business, would
you rather work for the jerk or the guy with
dementia who's more likely to keep the business going. I
think most people are going to pick the jerk over dementia. Again,
I'm saying for those that are undecided, And obviously there
(11:09):
are a lot of factors here. Biden's done a poor job.
I think it's not just the dementia. I think it's
also the rise in price of goods, the southern border,
the fact that he's failed. If it were just dementia
and Biden weren't the incumbent against the jerk, I think
Trump would be in trouble. I think this is the
election in their minds. Interesting, I don't see it that way.
(11:31):
So we'll see, And I would just say the media member,
the debate will happen. The media will be running clips
and analysis based on that debate the entire summer, and
that's it. There's a debate in the summer, and then
there's a debate in September. People will already be voting
in September, so all Biden has to do is show
up and do what he does. And this guy, the
one thing he can do is be disingenuous and spewed
(11:54):
talking points. I mean he's been. It's almost like.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
He, you know, came out of the crib just doing
the same Joe and you know, not a joke. And
you know, I'm not trying to be fasutious, and it's
all the same crap with him all the time. He'll
get up there, he'll do that, and all summer all
will be when you're talking about that middle ten percent.
Our people already know. Anybody who's conservative, anybody who looks
at you know there gets their information honestly online more
(12:19):
than they do. But people who watch CBS News, people
who read USA Today occasionally, you know, people who are
very casual observers of the news are going to be
blasted all summer with Joe Biden's fine. Here's this clip
from the debate. Look at him, he beat Trump in
the debate. I'm not saying that that's even true. I'm
(12:41):
just telling you they're going to blanket the airwaves with
It's not as bad as you've been told. Look at
Joe up on the debate.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
Stage. That's the only why else would they have a
debate in June. Well, my theory is that he's got
to get over the hump and prove that he can
do it. A couple of things on this, Well, let's
talk about when we come back. Because I got two thoughts.
I think you're hitting on something that I do agree with,
and that is the low information voter who still watches
CBS evening news or whatever else. They really aren't as
(13:10):
plugged in as crazily the young voter on TikTok, because
think about this, Trump may beat Biden eighteen to twenty
nine year olds. Do you know the strongest voting group
right now for Joe Biden in the entire country? Voters
over sixty five. They are breaking overwhelmingly for Joe Biden.
(13:32):
I think that's staggering to a lot of people because
you tend to think, oh, those young whipper snapper idiots,
they don't know any better. They're actually potentially going to
vote for Trump. According to Axios this morning, over sixty
five is the group that Joe Biden is doing best with.
That's kind of staggering to me. And then but you
(13:52):
make the argument, these are the people that are still
watching the CBS evening news. They're more propagandized. If you
want to be really concerned about the future of the public,
look at Republic, look at you know, we make fun
of the view if you has two million viewers every yeah,
I mean it's it's an institution for people who don't
really like to read. But true.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
But there's also I mean, these these big broadcast news
channels do these thirty minute news shows. They still have
millions and millions of people watching every night, and we
didn't even We're always talking about the cable news because
that's OHMSNBC was amazing, it was. It was amazing this morning.
I even made Kerry come in and watch someone with me.
But the other news channels have much bigger. I mean,
who's the guy who's just like Captain Handsome.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
I don't even know his daming mirror, is it?
Speaker 2 (14:36):
Yeah, exactly. He is a really good looking man, handsome man.
I mean, look, we're both married guys. He's a handsome man,
you know, but I don't know what he does other
than be handsome. But he's got like six million viewers
a night or something.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
Yeah, Bill Malugin or David muirr better looking man on television.
Right now, let's go to break. Okay, let's go, let's
go to commercial. I mean that's like asking whether tiger
Wood Jack Nicholas was better at his eight iron born

Speaker 2 (16:05):
We've got a lot to talk about here on this Friday,
including us some great guests.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
We'll be joining us later on the program.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
Jack Carr, former Navy seal, best selling author Terminal List series.
You've seen his stuff the show on Amazon. He'll be
with us about his latest book. We'll talk to him
also just about veterans military matters Ukraine. And we have
our friend Jesse Kelly, who, after Clay threw down his
(16:32):
glove on the ground yesterday, then made dastardly comments about
Jesse and Milwaukee. There's going to be we give him
fair airtime to address plays Ohio state fandom slash Milwaukee
commentary because we're I just want everyone in America to understand.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
I love Milwaukee, and Jesse Kelly has been quite clear
that he does not. So if you see a gigantic
beanstalk looking man walking around in Milwaukee during the RNC,
you can cast your negative aspersions towards him. If you
see a I would say, buoyant, effervescent Youngish man not
(17:12):
as good looking as Bill Malugen or David Muir, but
not as unattractive as Jeffrey Tubin. That would be me,
and I would like for you to be saying, Hey,
welcome to our fair city of Milwaukee, Clay Travis. Here's
a beer, but nebrah. Okay, there we go.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
Jesse's gonna be able to throw down on this one.
We're gonna see what he's got in store for us.
And I also, I don't have time for it now.
It might be the second hour. But I know some
of you think that I'm crazy, and maybe I am,
but I've just when I drink my Crockett coffee in
the morning, which is delicious Crocket Coffee dot Com, I
watch some MSNBC and I'm telling you it is like
(17:50):
wandering around the enemy camp.
Speaker 1 (17:52):
It's amazing.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
I'm just they're living in an alternate universe. You guys
don't even know how you don't even know how crazy.
They are both shared a Scarborough take this morning. Greg
told me within ten minutes of each other, we're reading
and getting ready this morning. So we're gonna play that
for you when we come back. My fellow gun owners,
this is the name that should be top of mind
when you're looking for your next firearm Bear Creek Arsenal.
(18:17):
They make high quality firearms at unbeatable prices. I am
telling you this is the best value firearms maker on
the market right now. Hard to believe it, but Bear
Creek Arsenal is a secret to many in the firearms world.
They just haven't really heard of it. Well, that's why
I want you to go do the due diligence for yourself.
Go check it out. It's fun to do a little
(18:37):
shopping online when you're talking about guns. Go to Barcreek
Arsenal dot com site. See for yourself what different makes
and models they have, what those prices are. And I'm
telling you you are gonna be a huge fan, just
like I am. I've got three of them here at home.
I've got more on the way. Barcreekarsenal dot com. Slash
buck that's the website. Use my name Buck as your
(18:58):
promo code for ten percent Offmricreekarsenal dot com slash buck.
David Mrror fifty years old.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
He's really aging. Well, fuck's so nervous. But I think
he got to go Bill Talk. I think you got
to go Bill Malugin for youth. He's got more years
ahead of him. I think he's the best looking guy
on television. Uh, well, we are talking to speaking of
the guy who's not the best looking guy on television,
Joe Biden. You've been sitting around watching Morning Joe Biden
(19:34):
gets ridiculed by the European press for being lost, out
of touch, unable to do the job. But according to
the American press, you should see him behind closed doors.
He's sharp at attack, which, again, as we talked about,
if you're really good behind closed doors and your job
is to be good in front of the open doors,
(19:55):
wouldn't you want to be really good in front of
the open doors. You never want to be the guy
who's like, you know, he stinks in the games, but
you should see him in practice. Nobody's ever been a
better practice player. We just can't get it to translate
to the games when they actually matter. That's not the
endorsement that you want to have of anybody who's an athlete,
and certainly not the endorsement that you want to have
(20:16):
of anybody that's a president. But some of you likely
have seen the circulating videos, and I do think Buck,
this is important that you hit on. Older voters may
not see these because they're not on TikTok, they're not
as active on x slash Twitter. They're supporting Biden. That's
(20:38):
what I mean.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
The the you know, legacy news media is going to
go all out, you know, the Sunday shows on CB
all these these propaganda channels for people who live in
rich suburbs and pretend that they care about like wokeness
and illegal immigrants. That's the audience for these shows. A
(21:00):
you know, your smug lib neighbor who doesn't doesn't want
any low income housing within fifty miles of where they live,
but is flying that BLM flag and the you know
and the trans identity flag this month and whatever. That's
what MSNBC is for. So yeah, this is this is what.
Speaker 1 (21:19):
Don't you think that surprises? I mean that surprised me
when I read the data here. I think most of
you intuitively would think young people are going to vote
for Biden because they tend to vote Democrat, and maybe
older people would be more split. This is the poll
from Axios this morning, Buck, and they're citing New York
Times Siena. Biden has opened up a nine point lead
(21:40):
fifty one to forty two among voters over the age
of sixty five, and historically that is kind of unheard of.
And it's not just New York Times. Quinnipiac has the
same thing, Biden beating Trump by twelve among voters over
sixty five, and Republicans almost always win the senior vote.
(22:06):
In fact, the Republicans have won the senior vote every
year in the twenty first century except for two thousand.
So this would be a pretty staggering thing. And they say,
why why do they anticipate it? Older voters by the
preserving democracy argument, voters over sixty five, by the Trump
(22:30):
is going to destroy the country. And we got a
lot of people who are over sixty five out there
listening right now. Can you imagine if Biden won and
it wasn't because the young voters, it was because of
old voters coming out and supporting Joe Biden. I mean,
I think that would be pretty staggering. But the other
aspect of this is to your point, MSNBC is going
(22:54):
all out to claim that any videos that go viral
where Biden appears to be not in complete control of
his faculties are actually disinformation and they need to be censored.
This is Biden's campaign spokeswoman Adrian L. Rod saying, social
(23:15):
media pres you know her beings to censor this. Well, Buck,
she's not happy with you for saying Biden's old listen
to cut seven.
Speaker 6 (23:23):
Disinformation is alive and well, we have to use surrogates
and voices across the country to combat this and make
it clear that not only do we not play this game,
but to your point, President Biden was out there literally
representing America at the G seven, saluting our troops, you know,
doing what he does as president. Right, it stays and look,
we're going to see more of this. I mean, this
(23:44):
is just the reality of campaigning in twenty twenty four.
So we have to combat that disinformation. We have to
hit it hard when it happens and make it clear
that these are dirty tactics that MAGA Republicans are using
because they can't run on the issues, Lamir, they have
to run, they have to use these dirty tests like
this because they are not right with Americans on the issues.
So we're going to see more of this. We're going
(24:04):
to do what we can to combat it. But it
does take the voices of surrogates across the country. It
does take the media to call it out. It does
take social media platforms where a lot of Americans are
getting their information to point it out as well.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
Okay, so this is their argument, and now I want
to play for you, Buck, your boy your favorite morning show,
Joe Scarborough said, Man, Biden is just doing amazing. This
is what he told his audience, including biggest fan, Buck Sexton,
this morning.
Speaker 5 (24:36):
It needs to be said. I mean you you have
jumped Biden here with it. Schedule would be brutal for anybody.
Oh my god, I'm president of any age going to Europe,
you know, tis on d Day and spending five days
in France, going.
Speaker 1 (24:48):
Over to the G seven, in the middle of the
personal struggles.
Speaker 5 (24:52):
In the middle of the personal struggles, the public hounter trial,
and yesterday even even critics were saying that he did
a strong job, very good job representing the United Saints,
even though again we have some cheap fakes that the
RNC once again spreading vicious lies about Joe Biden.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
But that's just that's who they are.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
I'm going to tell you this right now. I mean,
there's a lot that comes to mind, but one thing
is if you have the true Biden meltdown moment on
the debate, stage or anywhere. You know what they're going
to say. They will say it bears all the hallmarks
of distorted AI disinformation, that it's a deep fake. They'll
(25:37):
put that out there. They'll say it bears the hallmarks
of which is a meaningless phrase, by the way, because
you could say that, you know, I exhibit any clip.
Oh it bears the hallmarks of it possibly being faked. Well, yeah,
it could possibly be faked with AI. They're already gathering,
gathering the troops together for this clay. This is going
to be the narrative. I will say Glenn Greenwald, formerly
(25:57):
a man of the far left, and now I think
just more of a of an old school journalist mindset,
like Seeks the Truth, is still a lefty on most issues,
but actually believes in civil liberties. I'll say that still
believes in civil liberties, still believes in the First Amendment.
He tweeted out in response to that clip. Uh, one
(26:18):
thing this is this is quoting him quote. One thing
that's hilarious. Liberals long denied that MSNBC are DNC propaganda outlets,
and at NBC by pointing to Joe Scarborough, who they
claim was far right. Now the show he hosts exceeds
North Korean propaganda to glorify Joe Biden as a strong
and powerful leader. Absolutely true. They will go full dear
(26:44):
leader for Joe Biden. But that's what I'm I've seen this.
There's always a show on the left that is the
you know that that sets the cycle for all the
other shows they have become.
Speaker 1 (26:57):
They've gone all in on Morning Joe at.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
This is like the heart of the pro Biden resistance
or whatever.
Speaker 1 (27:04):
I mean.
Speaker 2 (27:04):
This is Biden reelection campaign headquarters on TV. And that's
why I've been watching. And I'll tell people later about
some of the other stuff.
Speaker 1 (27:11):
That was on this morning, which was just amazing. So
the we mentioned how Italian media is covering it's obviously
the G seven is taking place in Italy front page
Italian newspaper, and I'm translating it from Italian reading it here,
not me personally, other people are. I don't speak Italian.
(27:32):
It's gonna be a headline Clay Travis's claims to translate
Italian Clay Travis A long pause's eyes closed, a weak voice,
Joe Biden at the G seven. That is the headline
of Italian newspapers. One of them covering the G seven.
(27:53):
So what does it say that Italian newspapers are more
willing to point out out what everyone can clearly see
every time Joe Biden speaks than almost everyone in the media.
Here's where I like the Daily Mail. I mean the
UK in general.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
The UK media and UK politics are left of a
left of even what you have in the States. However,
they don't have some allegiance to the American Democrat Party necessarily,
so they'll just go with whatever gets clicks, you know
what the news is, uh, and that's why you'll actually
see some of the UK papers are far more honest
(28:32):
about what's going on with Biden in America than any
of the most mainstream, you know, Democrat aligned legacy outlets.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
Hear way funnier, way meaner, way more honest. I would
say the British media in general compared to the American media.
Do you think that's a fair approximation? Like they it.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
Depends, like the Guardian is pure communist trash. It's like
the New York Times equivalent over there, and there are
others as well, but Daily Mail, Daily Mirror basically the
Rupert Murdoch owned properties. I mean, I would go great
doing great stuff.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
I love it.
Speaker 4 (29:05):
You know.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
It was like, hey, look at the celebrity of bikini
and by the way, Biden's like stumbling over himself.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
It's great. I loved. I couldn't believe. But I studied
abroad in England. I you know this because I still
get all my print newspapers. I would they have such
a newspaper culture there. I would buy like five newspapers
and I would go read them cover to cover. It
was amazing.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
I have to remind everybody the notion of an unbiased
media and journalism as this profession of almost like a
priesthood of truth, is an entirely modern American phenomenon, as
in really, first of all, First World War, no, the
papers were supposed to say what the government told them to.
(29:50):
Second World War paper saying what the government told them to. Okay,
there was no like. And you really have to get
into the sixties and the seventies, and then you get
into like Watergate is the great moment, Watergate coup, but
don't even get me started. You get into this great
moment of oh, it's all about honest journalism. Go back
to the founding of the American Republic. Go back to
what newspapers were actually like. When they were writing the Declaration,
(30:12):
when they were writing the Constitution and the First and
the Bill of Rights Clay, everyone knew what a newspaper
was like. Is it in a federalist or anti federalist.
Is it a Republican or is it you know, later on,
is it a Democrat. Everyone knew who the newspapers are supporting,
and they were saying horrible things about the other side.
There was no pretense about, oh, we're just on the center.
(30:34):
That is a modern myth.
Speaker 1 (30:37):
It is a modern myth, and it's also just a
business strategy because they decided if they could claim that
they're not picking a side, they could sell a newspaper
to the entire contucry for advertising purposes or the entire
community as opposed to only people who were Tories or
Whigs or whatever it was.
Speaker 2 (30:57):
By the way, and they weren't as left to be clear,
you know, the country wasn't as left wings. So like
the New York Times thirty years ago was different than
the New York Times is today in terms of its editorials,
but it was always a Democrat newspaper. Like everybody knew this.
Who was paying attention.
Speaker 1 (31:12):
I wish you could see my face on one of
those back and this has been like two thousand ish
when I flipped open the tabloids and they just had
topless girls. I think it was the Sun in particular.
In the middle of the newspaper. I was like, this
country is incredible. It's nineteen you know, flip and open
(31:34):
a newspaper, boom, like it's some story about British Parliament.
And then they've got a page I think they called
them Page two girls or whatever, and it's just a hot,
topless girl right in the middle of the tabloid. I
was like, I kind of like this country, England. I'm
gonna have to read more of their newspapers, buy more
of their products. But I do think they're funnier, meaner,
and honestly as a group, more honest than the American
(31:56):
media is when it comes to their print publications. As

(34:24):
let's get to it. I Leen in North Carolina wants
to weigh what's up by Lean.
Speaker 7 (34:30):
Well, first of all, I love your show and I
listen to you every day, and I agree with a
lot of things that you say, except I'm eighty one
years old and I attend a church that has the
majority of attendees in senior years. There's no way that
they're voting for Biden. I think that you're forgetting one thing.
A lot of us have lived a long life and
(34:52):
we have experience, so sometimes we don't even need to
have someone tell us what's going on, see what's going on.
So I think that North Carolina is definitely going red
this year, this election year, and I just wanted to
put my two cents in.
Speaker 1 (35:10):
Well, Aileen for cas're welcome. Thank you so much for calling.
I appreciate it. I do agree with Eileen that North
Carolina is going to be read. It was read in
twenty twenty and it's trending very strong for Trumpet.
Speaker 2 (35:21):
Eileen's not buying that axios nonsense, and I respect that
the AXIOSI is commy is commy garbage. So I'm with
Eileen on this one. Bonnie in Charleston, South Carolina, Bonnie,
what have you got for us?
Speaker 8 (35:33):
The way in hell? Our seniors voting for Biden. I'm
seventy seven. There's no way in hell all my friends
are seniors. I'm telling you right now. I realize I'm
in South Carolina, so I'm in a very red state.
But I'm going to tell you right now this is blooney.
And this is part of the way that they're going
(35:54):
to try to cheat is by telling people that seniors
are voting for Biden to try to convince them. But
we know what dementia is, and we know when we
see it, and that guy's got it.
Speaker 2 (36:07):
That's an interesting point. By thank you, I mean I
think I thank you, Bonnie. You know, when you've experienced
something firsthand, and if you get to a certain age,
you're gonna have a friend who fades and has that
cognitive decline. I got to think that seniors are more
attuned to what they're seeing Biden than anybody else.
Speaker 1 (36:21):
I think that's an astude point. I think it's very true,
which is why the data saying younger people are more
likely to support Trump. Fuck. You're the one who got
me fired up about this because you're pointing out which
I do think is true. Seniors are less likely to
be on social media, so some of the things that
go viral that they won't put on CBS or ABC
or MSNBC or CNN. There's a lot of people out
(36:44):
there who still think CNN's middle of the road. They
just do and they're out to lunch, but unfortunately there's
a lot of them.
