Speaker 1 (00:00):
Thursday edition Clay Travis buck Sexton Show.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Awaiting the beginning of the Trump press conference at mar Lago,
scheduled to begin at the top of this hour, should
at any moment commence, and we will take you there
and listen to some of that and react to its live.
We are also going to talk with our friend who

(00:25):
runs IFCJ, that's the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews,
as Israel is in tremendous danger and we wait to
see what Aroan and Hesbola is going to do in
response to the Israeli attacks of late taking out terror leaders.
We will get the absolute latest from yale X Teen,

(00:47):
who is the president of the IFCJ on the ground,
scheduled to talk to her at the bottom of this hour.
With what is going on down in Israel. Now, Buck,
we've been talking about obviously Trump, the Walls military service scandal,
the stolen valor allegations that seem quite clear based on

(01:08):
his having claimed to carry a weapon in combat and
also claiming that he was a veteran of Operation Enduring
Freedom when he never got anywhere near Afghanistan, and that
story is continuing to grow. I do not think it's
going away, as many veterans from frankly across the political spectrum, Democrats,
Independence and Republicans all very angry about what Walls is doing.

(01:33):
There again, Trump soon to speak as the race has
tightened between he and Kamala. But I didn't want to
share a positive story. And I don't even know if
you've heard this yet, Buck but Harrison, Butker, I think
we mentioned on the radio program the kicker for the
Kansas City Chiefs, who became such a cultural flashpoint in

(01:54):
his commencement address that he delivered to Catholic graduates, Catholic
college graduates in Missouri, and he has now come out
he signed the biggest contract in the history of kickers.
And now hold on, we'll play that maybe for you
a little bit later. Let's go to Trump, who is
now I believe, live at the podium.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Let's listen to this safety standpoint.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
Both gangs on the street and frankly, gangs outside of
our country in the form of other countries that are
frankly very powerful. They're very powerful countries, and we don't
know what we're doing. We have leadership that has no
clue how to handle them, or how to handle any
other situation.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
We have a we have a lot of bad things
coming up.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
You could end up in a depression of the nineteen
twenty nine variety, which would be a devastating thing. Took
many years, took decades to recover from it, and we're
very close to that, and we're very close to a
world war. In my opinion, we're very close to a
world war. We have people that don't know how to
handle it. They're not respected all over the world left

(03:00):
at and we can't have that most dangerous period of
time I've ever seen for our country. With that being said,
we have somebody that hasn't received one vote for president
and she's running, and that's fine with me. But we
were given Joe Biden and now we're given somebody else.

(03:23):
And I think, frankly, I'd rather be running against to
somebody else.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
But that was their choice.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
They decided to do that because Kamala's record is horrible.
She's a radical left person at a level that nobody's seen.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
She picked a radical left man.

Speaker 4 (03:43):
That is, he's got things done that he has positions
that are just it's not even possible to believe that
they exist. He's going for things that nobody's ever even
heard of heavy into the transgender world, heavy into lots
of different worlds having to do with safety.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
He doesn't want to have borders.

Speaker 4 (04:04):
He doesn't want to have walls, He doesn't want to
have any form of safety for our country. He doesn't
mind people coming in from prisons. And neither is she,
I guess, because she's not. She couldn't care less. She's
the borders are by the way, she was, the borders
are one hundred percent, and all of a sudden, for
the last few weeks, she's not. The borders are anymore
like nobody ever said it. And I just hope that

(04:26):
the media becomes more diligent, more honest, frankly, because if
they're not going to be honest, it's going to be
much tougher to bring our country back. We have a
very very sick country right now. You saw the other
day with the stock market crashing. That was just the beginning.
That was just the beginning. It's going to get worse.
It's going to get a lot worse. In my opinion,

(04:47):
and fortunately we've had some very good polls over the
last fairly short period of time.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
Rasmusen came out today.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
We're substantially leading, and others came out today that we're
and in some cases substantially I guess ms NBC came
out or CNBC came out also with a pole that
was has US leading and leading fairly big in swing
states in some polls. I'm leading very big in swing
states because they want safety. People want safety, they want security,

(05:17):
they want respect all around the world for our country.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
They don't want this horrible.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
Culture that is developing, a culture of no common sense.
It's really a culture of no common sense.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
And it's not what anyone wants. We want to have
a safe country.

Speaker 4 (05:33):
We want to have a strong military, we want low
interest rates, and we want to be able to have
the American dream. We want to be able to have
our youth be able to buy homes, housing, get good jobs.
And we're really just at the opposite right now. It's
so sad to see. But as our borders are, she's
been the worst boats are in history, in the world history.

(05:53):
I think the number is twenty million, but whether it's
fifteen or twenty, it's numbers that nobody's ever heard before.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
Twenty million peace people came over.

Speaker 4 (06:01):
The border and the last during the Biden Harris administration
twenty million people, and it could be very much higher
than that. Nobody really knows what the number is. Nobody knows,
nobody has a clue. And the gotaways, they call them
the gotaways. The gotaways are at numbers. Somebody was quizzing
me on it the other day. No, No, I don't
think so, sir. I don't think so. They have no

(06:24):
idea what those numbers are. But they're much higher than
you would think. Just like far more people were killed
in the Ukraine Russia war than you have a report.
Just like the October seventh would have never happened. Russia
would have never hit Ukraine had the election result been

(06:45):
called differently. It was a very bad call, but Russia
would not have attacked Ukraine. October seventh in Israel would
have never happened. You wouldn't have inflation. A lot of
great things would have happened. But now you have millions
and millions of dead people, and you have people dying
financially because they can't buy bacon, they can't buy food,
they can't buy groceries, they can't do anything, and they're

(07:07):
living horribly in our country right now. With all of
that being said, I think it's very important to have debates,
and we've agreed with Fox on a date of September fourth.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
We've agreed with NBC.

Speaker 4 (07:22):
Fairly full agreement, subject to them on September tenth, and
we've agreed with ABC on September twenty fifth. So we
have those three dates and those networks they're very anxiously
awaiting that date and those dates. So we have September fourth,

(07:44):
September tenth, and September twenty fifth. We have spoken to
the heads of the network and it's all been confirmed,
other than some fairly minor details audience, some location, which
city would we put it into, But all things that
will be settled very easily, very I think it will

(08:05):
be very easy. The other side has to agree to
the terms. They may or may not agree. I don't
know if they're going to agree. She hasn't done an interview.
She can't do an interview. She's barely competent and she
can't do an interview. But I look forward to the
debates because I think we have to set the record straight.
Why is it that millions of people were allowed to

(08:25):
come into our country from prisons, from jails, from mental institutions,
insane asylums even in Sana said, that's a it's a
mental institution on steroids. That's what it is. When you
see the people that are coming into her. These are
institutions that are being emptied out, not in South America,

(08:46):
all over the world, including South America, all over the world,
prisons are being emptied out into our country because we
have a president that's the worst president in the history
of our country.

Speaker 3 (08:57):
We have a vice president.

Speaker 4 (08:58):
Who is the least admired, least respected, and the worst
vice president in the history of our country, the most
unpopular vice president. And because of political reasons or because
of being politically correct, even though she never received a vote,
don't forget she was the first one defeated. As I

(09:21):
remember it because I watched it very closely. But she
was the first one. She never made it to Iowa,
the first state. She never made it to Iowa. She
was the first one that was defeated. She was the
nastiest to him. She was nasty with the calling him
a racist and the school bus and all of the
different things. She was very nasty to Biden, and shockingly
he appointed her, asked her to serve as vice president. Well,

(09:46):
I don't know if he's happy about that decision right now.
This was taken away. The presidency was taken away from
Joe Biden. And I'm no Biden fan, but I'll tell
you what from a constitutional standpoint, from any standpoint you.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
Look at, they took the presidency away.

Speaker 4 (10:00):
And people were saying he lost after the debate, he
couldn't win. Well, I don't know that that's true necessarily,
but whether he could win or he couldn't win, he
had the right to run and they took it away.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
They said they're gonna use it.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
Let's go ahead them come back in. Let's go ahead
and come back in here. You hear Trump live presser
that he is having a mar A Lago buck big takeaway,
big news drop there that Trump just announced. He said
that he has agreed his campaign has to debate Kamala

(10:33):
three different times. He said Fox. I presume he means
Fox News on September fourth, NBC on September tenth, and
ABC on September twenty fifth. So he says his team
has agreed to three debates with Kamala Harris on Fox News, NBC,

(10:55):
and ABC, all in the month of September. That is
going to be the big takeaway from this presser. Now
the ball is back in Kamala's court and she's going
to have to decide how to respond. They are swifting
if he spoke correctly there. What they are doing is

(11:18):
changing the date for the ABC debate to the twenty
fifth of September from the tenth of September, and giving
NBC a debate on September tenth, and they would start
with Fox News. A lot of details to be determined,
but the Fox News debate, which had already been proposed
on September fourth, would be moderated by Brett Baher and

(11:41):
Martha McCollum. So, Buck your reaction, What does Kamala's team
say about Trump saying basically, Hey, I'll debate you three
different places. Here are the days, here the locations.

Speaker 5 (11:53):
She's going to have to do two of them, That's
what I think, and she's going to try to avoid
the Fox News.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
Yeah, that's what I think will happen.

Speaker 5 (12:00):
She'll agree to to she'll say two is enough and
that will be it, and she'll she'll.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
Attack Fox News.

Speaker 5 (12:07):
Even I don't believe that Kamala even thinks that Fox
would be unfair. I mean, and I we were honest.
CNN was not unfair in the Biden Trump debate. They
we said it, then they were not unfair. Now you
can get into what their motivations were in that debate,
and I think that's part of why they were not unfair.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
But they were not.

Speaker 5 (12:24):
Unfair to Trump, and it would be I think there's
no grounds to say that they were.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
If you had Brett bar and Martha.

Speaker 5 (12:30):
Mccallums as the debate moderators with Trump and Kamala Harris.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
They would be fair.

Speaker 5 (12:37):
And I would I would place a large bet that
any honest person would be able to watch that and
say they are being fair moderators. But you know, Kama
doesn't want fair. She wants home team advantage. She wants
somebody who's going to do what they can to skew
things to her side. So you know, okay, we'll come
back into this and we're going to keep listening, all right,

(13:00):
team will keep monitoring for anything. I'm sure Trump is
going to be opening up the questions shortly here. But yeah,
Trump basically calling her out and saying this is happening,
let's go. Yeah, so you stand up on that stage
and make your case the American people.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
We'll get into more of this year.

Speaker 5 (13:14):
In just a moment, I want to take a moment
to thank the incredible work that's done every day by
the Preborn network of clinics. You might have heard of
Preborn before on this show, but in case you haven't,
want to remind you. They have clinics nationwide in areas
where abortion rates are highest. They do this on purpose
because they want to be there when pregnant mothers are
making that very important decision between life for their unborn

(13:35):
baby and abortion. Preborn does this through a variety of means,
but one of the primary ways is the introduction of
a free ultrasound for that mom to be because when
that lady is able to meet her baby with that ultrasound,
so often the choice for life is made in that moment.
And this is how Preborn is saving so many lives.

(13:58):
Each ultrasound costs just twenty eight dollars, So if you
can make a donation in that amount, it's so appreciated
and you could be saving a life today. If you've
got a little more leeway, five ultrasounds would just be
one hundred and forty dollars. Think about that, five little
babies you send one hundred and forty dollars and those
little babies could grow up and have babies and grandchildren

(14:18):
of their own. The ultrasound makes so much difference in
this process, and Preborn is dedicated to saving as many
lives as they can.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
Every day.

Speaker 5 (14:26):
To donate securely, dial pound two fifty and say the
keyword baby. That's pound two five zero, say baby, or
go to preborn dot com slash buck. That's preborn dot com.
Slash Buck sponsored by Preborn.

Speaker 4 (14:54):
Hey, we have the enthusiasm the Republican Party and me
as a candidate.

Speaker 3 (14:58):
But the Republican.

Speaker 4 (14:59):
Party has the enthusiasm because people want to see crime stopped.
They want to see a country that's respected.

Speaker 3 (15:07):
Think of it.

Speaker 4 (15:08):
If I were president, you wouldn't have Russia and Ukraine
where never happened, zero chance. You wouldn't have had October
seventh of Israel. You wouldn't have the horrible withdrawal. And
I don't mean to withdraw because the withdrawal was fine.
I was ready to withdraw from Afghanistan, and we were
going to do it with dignity and strength, and we

(15:29):
were keeping our equipment. We weren't leaving eighty five billion
dollars worth of equipment behind it. We wouldn't have had
thirteen great soldiers. I know the families of those soldiers. Well,
we wouldn't have had the soldiers killed. And we wouldn't
have had forty five soldiers obliterated. No legs, no arms,
the face, none of that would have happened. And you

(15:50):
wouldn't have had inflation. You wouldn't have had any inflation
because inflation was caused by their bad energy problems. Now
they've gone back to the Trump thing because they need
the votes.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
I don't know if you know they're drilling now.

Speaker 4 (16:03):
Because they had to go back because a gasoline was
going up to seven eight nine dollars a barrel, so
they said we better.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
Do what Trump.

Speaker 4 (16:11):
But the day after the election, if they won, you're
going to have fuel prices go through the roof.

Speaker 3 (16:16):
Everybody's going to be.

Speaker 4 (16:17):
Forced to buy an electric car, which they're not going
to do because they don't want that. It's got a
great market, it's got a market. It's really a submarket.
People want gasoline propelled cars, they want hybrids, they want
to have everything, and they want electric but they want
everybody to have an electric car. We don't have enough electricity.
We couldn't make enough electricity for that. And you know

(16:39):
what else, the weight of a car, the weight of
a truck. They want all trucks to be electric. Little
things that a lot of people don't talk about. The
weight of a truck is two and a half times
two and a half times heavier. You would have to
rebuild every bridge in this country if you were going
to do this ridiculous policy. So, but on crowd size,

(17:00):
in history for any country.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
Nobody's had crowds like I have. And you know that.

Speaker 4 (17:05):
And when she gets a thousand people and everybody starts jumping,
you know that if I had a thousand people would
say people would say, that's the end of his campaign.
I have hundreds of thousands of people in South Carolina.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
Okay, we got to jump in here.

Speaker 5 (17:20):
They It's almost like she was throwing steak into the
lion cage. The first question there as we were at
the Trump Live press conference, was do Kamala's crowd size
is worry you. Oh boy, Trump went Trump went to
the mat on that one.

Speaker 2 (17:35):
Clay no doubt again big news. Trump says he has
agreed to three different debates in September against Kamala Harris.
He's taking questions. Now, we'll continue to roll on that.
We're going to head down to Israel and find out
the latest on what's taking place there in the next segment.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
Travis buck Sexton show rolling through the THURSD edition of
the program.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
Bottom half of the hour.

Speaker 2 (18:58):
I was going to be in Israel until our flights
were canceled and totally dangerous situation on the ground right
now in Israel as moment to moment, people wait to
see what Hesbala and what Iran are going to be doing.
And we are joined now. We met with her last
week in Miami. She was fabulous. I guess technically Palm
Beach in talking about the work that the International Fellowship

(19:21):
of Christians and Jews does, the impact that they have
on the ground, she is yell ex Stein. I could
not believe how powerful your discussion was about the impact
the organization has on the ground. You are in Israel
right now. Let's start with this question. What is it
like from one moment to another in Israel? How nervous
are people? What does it feel like walking the streets.

Speaker 7 (19:44):
Alone, Clean Buck. I'm sorry you're not here with me,
but I am so happy to be with you on
your program. In Israel right now, there is kind of
a tense come that we are anticipating an unprecedented attack.
On one hand, we've lived in war forever. I was
here during the Second Antifato and cafes were being blown

(20:05):
up by suicide bombers. Yet people still went and sat
at cafes, So there's a tents come. On one hand,
every one's continuing down with their lives. We won't let
the terrorists stop us. We are faithful. We are here
in the Holy Land because of our faith, because of
our conviction that we are doing the right thing where
exactly where God wants us. But we are also doing
everything we can to prepare for the second fifties, unprecedented

(20:28):
attacks from seven different fronts might start. So I'm on
the ground on behalf of the International Fellowship of Christians
and Jews delivering lots of aid. Just in the past
few days, we've delivered over ten thousand emergency food boxes
to shelters. We've placed over our one hundred and fifth
bomb shelters low bomb shelters with most strategic at hospitals

(20:50):
from Nazareth to Jerusalem. We're making sure they have the
equipment that they need to deal with nass cafes. So
we're on the ground both equipping the people to be
able to hopefully survive whatever a cat comes. And we're
also representing that voice of Christians around the world who
stand with Israel to make sure the people of Israel
know even though it feels like we're alone, we're not.

(21:10):
There are so many people praying and helping. You know.

Speaker 5 (21:14):
Earlier this week we had the mother, Rachel of one
of the hostages, Hirsh Goldberg Poland, on the show.

Speaker 1 (21:21):
It's a really powerful story and.

Speaker 5 (21:23):
You know, we put it up at clayanbuck dot com.
Thank you for having the io CJ help us set
up an interview. We were wondering though, how many hostage
and apologiesil for my I have a cold, so apologies
from my voice. But back to this interview and then
the family, how many of these families, hostage families have

(21:43):
you been in touch with today.

Speaker 7 (21:45):
Rachel and John are a source of inspiration and strength
to all of us. The way that they're able to
keep their faith and positivity and hope alive. I can't
wait until their son comes home. Hirsh may he come home,
very very very so. But the Fellowship is there for
every single one of the hostage families and the survivors

(22:06):
of the Nova festival. We know there were thousands of people, kids, teenagers,
young adults who were at a concert celebrating peace on
the border with the Gaza Strip on October seventh when
they came and murdered hundreds of them and kidnapped many others,
including hers. And from day one, the International Fellowship of
Christians and Jews has been there for them, both as
far as telling them that they're not alone, but also

(22:28):
through helping them financially, letting them know that we won't
leave their side. So, for example, Overpassover we provided the
Passover food for them, along with over one hundred and
fifty thousand and others in Israel who are affected by war.
For the High Holidays now coming up, we're going to
be providing for them once again, the family of the hostages.
And it's this message that I can't stress enough that

(22:50):
Christians around the world stand with Israel and for many
people that already might sound like a given. Of course,
Christians stand with Israel. But when you're on the ground
in Israel and you see what the UN is doing
and the EU and so many governments are turning against Israel,
the people of Israel don't realize that they're over seven
hundred million Christians who stand with us. That that's the voice,

(23:12):
through the food boxes, through the shelters, through the life
giving aid that we're providing. It's that message that so
often is a switch for the people of Israel. Oh
we're not alone. Oh we have friends for the first
time in history, which is a source of inspiration and
strength that no words could describe.

Speaker 2 (23:32):
We're talking to y Ale Extein. I don't know how
much attention you pay to American politics on a day
to day basis, but certainly I know you saw the
protest from Columbia to UCLA and many different elite colleges
and universities in between. It remains to be seen whether
that's going to start back up as kids return to
college campuses. But what just happened is to a large extent,

(23:54):
it seems like Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro was not selected
as the vice president nominee based to a large degree
on the fact that he was Jewish. There is a
I think, growing prevalence of anti Semitism, not only in
the United States, but also around the world. What do
you see does that correspond with what you see unfortunately

(24:15):
happening all over the world, And how does the IFCJ
help to combat that?

Speaker 7 (24:19):
Well, it's such a great point. When I see the
protests in America, I don't know how it could be
any more clear that Israel and America stand together, whether
you like it or not. When I see these protesters
burning American flags, my heart sinks and I think, how
are the American people, every single one of them, not
standing up against this. This doesn't have to do with Israel.

(24:42):
This has to do with terrorists who are saying Israel
and America are both infidels. Jews and Christians are both infidels.
This is so clearly a war of good versus evil,
of those who sanctify life, like Jews and Christians, like
Americans and israelis versus those who are seeking that suicide bombers,

(25:03):
people who are using their wives and their children as
human shields. That if these protests don't make every single
American wake up to realize this isn't about Democrat or Republican.
This isn't about a political identity. This is a war
for survival, not just for Israel, but for America as well.
And so we see on the ground this re emergence

(25:24):
of anti Semitism that unfortunately isn't new. I think it
starts in the Bible with Amalek, and it goes to
wicked Hayman, and you can see it in the Communists
and in the Nazis that in every generation it's called
something different, but it's anti Semitism, and we're seeing it
again now. And so I think in a way we're
seeing the same repetition of history that we know all
too well, all of us. But on the other hand,

(25:46):
we're seeing something so new Clan Book, and that is
for the first time the Jewish people have friends and
aren't standing alone. That we all know the Corey ten Boons.
We've all read that incredible story of face and resilience
and a sanctity of life. Today we have millions of
Corey ten Booms. And that's what the Fellowship represents when

(26:08):
we bring food boxes and place shelters. These aren't an
isolated few. This is what I call the silenced majority
that you are giving.

Speaker 5 (26:16):
A voice to yeah il to that end, How can
everyone listening, Americans, Christians use how can we support Israel
and Jewish people during this critical time? Where should everyone
go when they want to, when they want to pitch
in and help?

Speaker 7 (26:29):
Thank you so much, claim back. Well, we are working
around the clock, our volunteers, our partners here with International
Fellowship of Christians and Jews, just giving, giving, giving, giving,
distributing food boxes because that's the biggest need right now.
When these rockets start, we'll have to take a few
days potentially to not be distributing food until there's a
small lull in the attacks. And so now we're working

(26:51):
around the clock and against the clock in order to
get more food into the bound shelters. We have our volunteers,
we have our partners, we have all the different things
that we need, We have the list of people who
are in need. What we need right now is the
donations to do as much as we can. The second
someone gives forty five to dollars, a food box is
brought to a bomb shelter in Israel. So you can
go to www dot IFCJ dot org to donate and

(27:16):
you can follow how these donations are being used. I'm
on the field and all of my social media platforms yeah,
l X, Steam, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (27:24):
Well, thanks so much for all the work you're doing.
We hope to see you soon and encourage everybody to
check out support IFCJ dot org.

Speaker 1 (27:31):
Thank you, stay safe.

Speaker 7 (27:33):
You guys are incredible. God bless you. Thanks for everything.

Speaker 2 (27:36):
It's common to hear people out there say they worry
that they have some heart symptoms. Palpitations, fluttering, that feeling
that your heart might be skipping a beat. These feelings
might be nothing, but what if they're not. How do
you self check yourself, especially because you go to the doctor.
Maybe they don't reveal themselves and everything looks normal when
the doctor checks you out. One of our listeners sent

(27:58):
an email said, Hey, I've been having this issue. I
got the cardia Mobile and I was able to show
that there was something that was a ride by sharing
the EKG of my heart with my doctor and letting
the doctor check it out. How do you make sure
that you're okay? If this sounds like something you are
concerned about, how about getting a Cardiomobile six L. It's

(28:20):
an FDA clear device to detect a fib The leading
cause of stroke. It can also tell you if your
heart rhythm is normal or abnormal in thirty seconds. The
cardio Mobile six L can take a medical grade EKG
right on your smartphone, which you can then share with
your doctor. Ali just got one to keep in the studio,

(28:41):
so everybody there is going to stay super healthy. It's
one hundred and twenty nine dollars value for a limited time.
Cardiomobiles giving twenty percent off. Go to Cardia dot com.

Speaker 6 (29:12):
News you can count on and some laughs too, Clay
Travis at buck Sexton. Find them on the free iHeartRadio
app or wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
I'm gonna go stick my head in like a steam.

Speaker 2 (29:26):
I mean, here's the question. Are you gonna be able
to host the show solo tomorrow? You're gonna have to
have twenty four guests. I mean, your voice is in
rough shape. This summer cold has got you down.

Speaker 5 (29:36):
I drink a lot of ginger with honey and lemon,
and I should be okay. This is a reminder for me, though, Clay,
that Miami Beach has has made certainly my immune system soft.
The weather where I am now dropped down into like
the mid sixties, and suddenly I'm just like a mess.

Speaker 7 (29:53):
You know.

Speaker 5 (29:53):
I'm usually where like it's freezing outside. Right now, it's
freezing outside. I've ordered so many sweatshirts already, So yeah, yeah,
I left the tropics for a week and already I'm
coming down with.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
This reminds me Buck. You know, when Laura and I
are having our twentieth anniversary, but when we first got married,
we moved two days after we got married to the
US Virgin Islands, and I practiced law down there, and
obviously it's very warm all year round there, but I
remember thinking how crazy it was in December and January.
The locals won't get in the water because they say

(30:24):
it's too cold, and you know, like all the American
tourists just flood into the islands on a regular basis
and go sprinting right into the water. But when you're
down there and you get used to the warm weather.
They're like, you're gonna get into the water in December
and January, you know, it's still very warm. In American
tourists and foreign tourists they have no concerns at all

(30:45):
about it, but the locals will just say, are you kidding,
like and water's freezing.

Speaker 5 (30:50):
I remember going to school in Massachusetts for college and
the Pioneer Valley, and I remember walking around on different
days and I was the only one in like sandals
and a T shirt when there were still snow on
the ground.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
But it was like a somewhat sunny ish day for March.

Speaker 5 (31:10):
You know, you got you got like a fifty five
degree day in March and you're wearing a T shirt
walking around. Your body acclimates so much. I mean, the
people listening to us, who are you know who live
in Montana and North Dakota and Alaska, they could handle
so much more cold, especially than those like South South Florida.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
Man, it's beautiful, everybody, but it is. It is not.

Speaker 5 (31:33):
You would not do well and seal like buds training,
you know what I mean when you're in the cold water.

Speaker 1 (31:37):
Oo, No, none of that for me.

Speaker 5 (31:40):
So I'll be all right though, I think I'm just
gonna have to have to hide you a lot, tell
everybody about about twenty eighth anniversary plans, because you're out
tomorrow and all of next week. So it's gonna be
just he's leaving me in charge of the house. There
will be there will be part of it.

Speaker 1 (31:53):
There will be. I hope you get your house. Your voice,
your voice survives. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (31:57):
Look, I've been married next week the years and so
given what we do and how chaotic the summer has
already been. My kids are already back in school in
the South because we go back early in Tennessee. And
I know I'm going to be on the road for
college football for Fox Sports a decent amount. The election
is going on and we're going to be doing all

(32:18):
sorts of crazy stuff. So I know, basically from September
all the way through. Frankly, the election is just going
to be pure chaos, and you're going to have to
be here. So I said, I put on the calendar
a while ago. I was like, I saw that it
was in between the conventions and everything else. Didn't know
when the debates were going to be, And I said,
I want to make sure that I get away and

(32:39):
that we celebrate twenty years of being married. So thanks
to my wife Laura, who has managed to deal with
me for twenty years and now has to deal not
only with me, but three a sixteen, thirteen and a
nine year old boy. So she basically lives in a
frat house now. And so we're going to get away.
We're gonna be in Colorado whether it should be perfect

(33:00):
there and uh, and just chill for a few days
and then I'll be back in uh what like that
for the Democrat National Convention beginning uh and then uh, we'll.

Speaker 1 (33:12):
See how the CA.

Speaker 2 (33:12):
I honestly, I'm to try to leave my phone a
little bit, but it's like any moment anything could happen.

Speaker 1 (33:18):
We're in such a crazy news cycle. Well we do.

Speaker 5 (33:21):
We do have a habit of you go on vacation
and you know, China invades Taiwan. I mean that that
is definitely the rhythm of the last year or so.
But let me let me ask you this, because we're
doing so much politics these days. What is now that
you've been married twenty years, what is the best piece
of marriage advice that you were given by anyone?

Speaker 1 (33:42):
Oh on that I found to be true?

Speaker 2 (33:44):
Yeah, yeah, because everybody when you get married gives you advice,
and uh, I'm my best advice. So this is my
best advice for who you get married. To pick someone
who you'd want to be in a fox hole with,
because especially when you start having kids, life's pressures grow.

(34:04):
You want to limit the amount of time that you're
turned yelling at each other when it feels like there's
bullets coming in every direction metaphorically, right, you want to
find someone that you can feel like is going to
be a great teammate. And if you're gonna have kids,
you want to you want to find someone that you
would like to, you know, share half of your DNA with,
have with half of their DNA, and try to make

(34:25):
the world a little bit better place in the process.
I mean, certainly for anybody out there having kids, my
best advice would be try to laugh. I mean, I mean,
just in general, I think a sense of humor is
really really important, and and a sense for perspective and
then find uh So, by perspective, I mean you can't

(34:48):
treat every single thing that goes awry as if it's
the worst thing that's ever existed in your life.

Speaker 1 (34:54):
I think a lot of times, uh people.

Speaker 2 (34:57):
People presume that that it's big things that create an issue,
and that can be true, but I think a lot
of times it's small things kind of piling up.

Speaker 1 (35:07):
Here's what I have found.

Speaker 2 (35:09):
Most men get married, and whoever they marry, they would
like that to be the person that they're with the
rest of their lives. Like you like how pretty she is,
you like her personality, you like everything about her. Most
women marry thinking he's okay, but I can build him
into something else that will be better. I think this
is a general rule, and there's people out there I

(35:31):
think that would acknowledge their exceptions. But I think a
lot of women look at men as unfinished products and
men look at women as finished products. And I think
that dynamic of trying to contemplate it. I don't know
the best The best advice I would say is, and
this is for me, let figure out what your sphere

(35:54):
of influence is. I don't make any decisions in the house,
like like even right now, I'm not aware of, you know,
anything that has to go on in general with the
physical house. We're building a house. I know I was
involved in very few of the details. Find someone that
you can trust to be really good at a lot
of things, so that you can focus on other things

(36:17):
and try to be good at them too. Writ like
there is a concept of partnership, but I don't think
it should be fifty to fifty on everything. I think
everybody should have spears of influence.

Speaker 1 (36:26):
Mine. We can take relatively limited, we can take. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (36:30):
When it comes to sec sports betting. I think Laura
lets you take the lead, which is nice of her,
which may not be great for her, by the way,
depending on the season. Well, happy anniversary to you, thank you,
thank you to laws. I'll take care of you guys
all tomorrow, or could be just me. We'll be drinking
lots of tea together here on the radio, and we'll
talk to you again.
