Clay and Buck begin by addressing the cultural and political absurdities surrounding gender identity in sports. They take aim at Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut, who claimed that many parents of female athletes are comfortable with their daughters competing against biological males. Clay and Buck strongly reject this narrative, calling it a disingenuous attempt to normalize unfair competition in women’s sports and highlighting the broader Democratic Party’s refusal to oppose such policies.

The conversation then pivots to President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline, with a focus on a reported incident where Biden allegedly called National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan “aka Steve.” The hosts mock the administration’s damage control efforts and use the moment to underscore growing concerns about Biden’s mental fitness. They revisit Biden’s now-infamous 2024 debate challenge to Donald Trump—an event they argue backfired spectacularly and marked the beginning of the end for Biden’s political career.

Clay and Buck also revisit the media’s reaction to Biden’s debate challenge, playing a clip from MSNBC’s Morning Joe where pundits praised Biden’s bravado. The hosts contrast this with the reality of Biden’s performance and the overwhelming public perception that he is no longer capable of leading.

The hour then shifts to a critical analysis of the proposed “Big Beautiful Bill,” a major legislative package being debated in Congress. Speaker Mike Johnson touts the bill as a transformative piece of legislation that will cut taxes, secure the border, and reduce spending. However, Senators Rand Paul and Ron Johnson express deep skepticism, warning that the bill could add up to $5 trillion in new debt and lacks meaningful fiscal restraint. Buck calls for transparency and urges Republican leadership to clearly outline where the spending cuts are, emphasizing the urgency of addressing the national debt while the GOP holds power.

The show wraps with listener talkbacks offering humorous takes on marriage dynamics, parenting advice, and grocery shopping strategies. Clay signs off for a beach weekend, joking about searching for political messages in seashells, while Buck previews upcoming discussions on government spending and fiscal policy.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome in hour number three Clay Travis buck Sexton Show.
We appreciate all of you hanging out with us as
this is the final hour of the week. Fourteen hours up,
fifteenth underway. Now we appreciate all of you that have
spent fourteen hours with us. If by chance you've been
busy and you haven't listened for the first fourteen hours

(00:22):
of the week, podcast is always there. You can listen
like Laura Travis does at double speed and the show
lasts half as long, and you can find us anywhere
that there are podcasts distributed. Search out my name Clay Travis,
search out buck Sexton, and boom. You are well on
your way to having us with you anywhere, given that
school starting to let out some places, including where my

(00:45):
kids are in school.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Yes, really this early.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
We've got graduation season up on us for college, also
high school sooner rather than later. And now they have
like kindergarten graduations and elementary school graduations. I got an
eighth grade graduation. I don't get it either, but all
of these things stacking up together. So maybe you're going
to be traveling around, maybe you're going to be busy.
That's a good place to find the podcast. You can

(01:08):
also listen to our entire podcast network. Whether it's a
Lisa Booth, whether it's Carol Markowitz, whether it's David Rutherford.
We have put together an incredible collection. Tutor Dixon, Mary
Catherine Ham. We have put together a incredible collection of
podcast voices from a variety of perspectives, Ryan Gerdusky, whatever
you want, whether it's data analysis, or it is a

(01:32):
Seals perspective or a mom's perspective. That's a Navy Seals perspective.
Not the animal, although maybe we could get an animal
perspective at some point. We will have all of that
for you, all right, What we got going on here?
We talked about James Comy, the Shells, the big beautiful
bill battle that is underway on the House that spoiler alert,
both Buck and myself feel confident will end up eventually

(01:54):
being signed off on and ratified by the Republicans in Congress.
I wanted to hit a couple of stories that are
out there circulating that I think are pretty funny and
also illustrative of the regular lies that we are being told. First,
I had this pulled over for a couple of days

(02:15):
because I thought it was really interesting, and I know
we do have a decent audience in the state of Connecticut,
and a lot of you may be listening on war
who have gone in to the New York area but
might live in Connecticut as well. The senator, one of
the senators from there, Buck, I'm curious if you buy
that this was ever actually true. Senator Chris Murphy says

(02:35):
he's talked to many parents of female athletes who are
perfectly okay with their daughters having to compete against boys,
believe it or not, talking about the culture shift. This
is from a New York Times podcast. Listen to cut seventeen.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
If you had a daughter competing against a biological male,
would you find it unsair? I don't have girls right,
so I necessarily can't write I can't have some empathy
right for those of us who do right. So would
you would you find it unfair? I mean, I've talked
to lots of parents of girls in Connecticut who do

(03:12):
not think it's unfair, and who think that the benefits
that those athletes get from being part of a team
is important and they don't mind or feel threatened by
the competition. I think everybody can come to their own conclusion,
but I will all I'm saying that you're but you're right,
But your conclusion is the current is the official, the

(03:32):
official line of liberalism right now.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
It's just why you're saying.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
Yes, my conclusion is that I would support those athletes
being able to participate in my community right in my community.
But I but I would not substitute my judgment in
my community judgment for another community judgment.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Okay, so, first of all, that is all gobblygook.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
Do you believe Buck, this is the real Democrat party perspective?
Remember all forty seven Democrats in the Senate refuse to
vote against men being able to compete against women. Do
you believe that the moms and dads of Connecticut with
daughters are actually coming up to Connecticut's senator even though
Connecticut is a blue state. I think Trump lost Connecticut

(04:15):
by like ten points, so it's not that crazy. Check
that for me team in New York to see what
the actual margin was. I know he lost New Jersey
by five. He lost I believe New York by twelve
if I'm remembering correctly. I think Connecticut was around eight
to ten. But let's check. Do you actually believe though
that people are coming up to Senator Murphy who have
actual daughters competing in athletics and saying, hey, we don't

(04:37):
have any problem at all with boys competing against our girls. No,
I mean, I do not believe this, but play to
be fair, I'm not a biologist, so I guess I
don't have the expertise. Remember when they were pulling that
for a while. Yeah, They're like, how do you know gender?
Are you a biologist? I'm like, I think I can
handle this one.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
They say this, Look, they won't.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
They have not abandoned the position at all, really, which
is pretty remarkable, quadrupled down on it even so, Buck,
I would argue they've endorsed it even more significantly after
the even they have taken their lumps for this, and
they're still doing it right, which is a little bit
like what they've had with climate change in the past,
where climate change is something you say to get attention

(05:22):
and to raise money, but then when it comes to
policy a lot of the time they realize it's too
insane and they don't even want the thing they pretend
to want. Are their updates on this, By the way,
you just look like you pointed at the phone for well, no, no, no,
I was I was laughing because I've got two more
clips that I think you're going to enjoy. I just
want to have signed in some ridiculous because I am
headed off to the beach, like I said, to see

(05:42):
if anybody is posting political messages shells on the beach,
and I'm gonna be.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
This is Clay's pre beach lightning round is what we're in.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
This is like, yes, I have things that I think
you are going to enjoy, and I know our audience
can enjoy our buddy Steve Sullivan also known as Jake Sullivan.
As the Biden has Dementia fallout continues, Jake Sullivan was
asked if he had been called Steve.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
I remember a sorry.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
Anything that Jake Sullivan posts. I want you guys to
just say thanks Steve. For the rest of his career.
Any post that is on the Internet that you can
track down Jake Sullivan, just say thanks Steve. Jake Sullivan
asked if Biden called him Steve. This is real cut too.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
There's actually an accident in the book where it says
he forgot your name in December twenty twenty two.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Who called you Steve?

Speaker 5 (06:32):
A couple of times did that happen.

Speaker 6 (06:34):
I do not have a call that ever happening, And
I will tell you Joe Biden knows my name. He
knows my name like I talked to him even now,
so I was surprised to read that in the book.
But what I will more generally say is I had
to wait the president up in the middle of the
night when there were crises. I had to go into
him at various points when unexpected things happen, and surely
plenty of unexpected things happened during the time that he

(06:56):
was in office and that I was in the seat.
I did that over the course of the four years,
and I saw him operating, decision making, executing as commander
in chief throughout that time.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
Clay, I do not recall is Beltway speak for I
don't want to admit this, but I'm just going to
try to move on to something else as fast as possible.
I also love that the questioner was British. Can we
just I don't even need to hear the answer. The
fact that it's a British question makes it even funnier.

(07:26):
This is cut to just listen the British guy, Hey,
did he actually call you Steve twice. There's actually an
accent in the book where it says you forgot your name.
In December twenty twenty two, he called you Steve a
couple of times.

Speaker 7 (07:36):
Did that happen?

Speaker 1 (07:38):
All right, I just forgot your name. I can't do accents,
but forgot your name is an amazing thing. Called you Steve?

Speaker 2 (07:44):
All right?

Speaker 1 (07:44):
And here, Buck, this is amazing. I had them pull
this over. You'll recall yesterday was the one year anniversary
of Joe Biden challenging Donald Trump to the debate that
would end his political career. I would submit to all
of you out there that short of Alexander Hamilton agreeing
to the duel, Aaron Burr, this is one of the

(08:05):
all time great miscalculations in history, that Biden taunted Trump
into a debate that Trump knocked him out and into
his political career in But well, first of all, let's
play that because it's only like twenty seconds. And then Buck,
I'm gonna call for it. I want you to listen
to your friends at morning Joe exalt over how amazing
Biden's challenge was from that same day.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
So this was one year ago.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
We played this yesterday Here is Biden challenging Trump to
debate him. It's only twelve seconds, like eight different cuts.
He could barely say it.

Speaker 8 (08:36):
Listen, Donald Trump lost two debates to me in twenty twenty,
Sain Sandy hadn't shown up for debates. Now he's acting
like he wants to debate me again. Will make my day, Pal.
I'll even do it twice. So let's pick the dace
s Donald. I hear you're free on Wednesdays.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
Okay, ha hah, all right, Buck, here are your boys.
I don't hear you talk very much about your favorite show,
Morning Joe as much anymore. It feels like you've kind
of got a rift in the love affair. They lost me, Clay,
they lost me. If they're not going to talk about
how there is literally fascism in America and how they're
going to be pulled out of.

Speaker 9 (09:08):
Their homes any minute, it's just not entertaining. It's just
third tier political analysis from people who would be better
serve spending their time drinking south Sides at the country club.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
Here is the reaction from the entire panel on Morning
Joe about how amazing Joe Biden's challenge of Trump was
cut six.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
Oh wow, I got that.

Speaker 6 (09:31):
Oh that's subtle. Stuck on.

Speaker 4 (09:35):
I hear you're free on Wednesday.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
Ah wow, your goods.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
Well.

Speaker 10 (09:41):
The best part of this announcement that was just made
is that announcement of the President of the United States brief punchy,
clearly understandable, basically saying, let's go tough guy. I think
that's what a lot of people are looking for from
Joseph Biden.

Speaker 5 (09:54):
I wonder whether his people who understand the less people
hear of Trump, the better the campaign does. I wonder
if he's going to find an excuse to back out
of these debates too.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
I think he would definitely try to.

Speaker 7 (10:08):
I mean, the reality is, you know, to use I
come from Brownsville, Brooklyn. Donald Trump is a political punk.
He does not want to go on stage but out
at sharing squad without all of the things that he
needs to make him feel all charged up.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
This is one of the worst bits of analysis in
American political story, but it reminds me of the woman
who I can still don't. I think I could play
that like a thousand times in a row, the woman
who taunted the guy at the liquor store about how
all the women were showing up and Donald Trump was
gonna lose over that clip. I'm a I'm a political analyst,
and the voices of the women.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
Of America are going to be heard, sir. That's why.

Speaker 11 (10:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
I remember he was buying her champagne or whatever it
was to celebrate Commlo's big when I wonder if the
champagne stolen ice.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
I just love it.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
I love the notion of a dunk on somebody who
were like, oh, oh, I'm a political analyst. I think
podulous on the guy who I bet voted for Trump,
who was there working in the liquor store and was saying, oh,
I hear it's pretty close, and we need to play
that clip again. Maybe next week bring it out a retirement.
But this, I just thought was perfect. Is a one
year anniversary. That's what you would have heard on MSNBC

(11:20):
right after Joe Biden challenged Trump. Trump's a coward. He
may not even show up. Wow, look how brassy, Look
how ballsy Biden? Is this kind of fight we wanted
to see. Hey, it's clear, it's articulate. Anytime you have
to say it's clear, it's articulate, I mean about somebody
whose job is to communicate not necessarily a really great idea.
If somebody said, you know, Clay, he and Buck they

(11:42):
can talk, well, it would be really troubling if people
were like, man, I can't even understand those guys who
talked for three hours on the radio all day. A
huge part of being president is just basic communication skills,
which Biden did not have by the time he was
doing that video, for sure. And you know, I think
that one thing that is easier to make the case
about now, even though we recognized it at the time,

(12:05):
It actually does matter to have a CEO. It does
matter to have a decider. You know. Member Bush coined
the term, or at least popularized. He's like, I'm the decider. Yeah,
And people joke around about that, but it's actually a
very good way of putting it. I mean, that's what
a CEO is, the guy who decides or gal who
decides stuff, who makes the call. And what you're seeing

(12:26):
for the four years of the Biden presidency is there
really wasn't a decider. Yeah, And you could say, oh, well,
and we did that. It's the apparatus, it's the machinery
around him and all that stuff. But that's actually not
as efficient and not good enough, and there was a
leadership vacuum, even for a Democrat president. It's not Oh,
I just don't like the decisions that were made. It's

(12:46):
quite clear that there was no one steering the ship.
And there were other people who had their hands on
the steering wheel, but there was no one person one
thing that you know for sure. Trump is the decider. Yep,
he decided.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
No one's like, you know what, I'm just going to override.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
Trump today, Like that doesn't happen. And if he says
something's going to happen, everybody hops to it. My bad.
On the twenty twenty four presidential election in Connecticut, by
the way, I thought that it was closer than it
was in that state fifty six to forty two. So
fifty six point four to five point nine.

Speaker 9 (13:20):
I wish we could find a way to cleave off
the Republican areas of Connecticut, which are in the more
rural parts of it, which are beautiful and I've spent
a lot of time in and I love, I honestly
love that area of the country, and just get them
away from the maniacs in Hartford and along the coast
who put all these bad policies into place. Yeah, I
was just going to say to contextualize that for you.

(13:42):
We talk about this all the time. Seven hundred and
thirty seven thousand people in Connecticut voted for Trump versus
nine hundred and ninety two thousand four Kamalin. There's a
lot of people, in other words, that are behind enemy line.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
We could flip Connecticut. It's you know, we might even
be able to spare some Floridians, but they don't want
to be in the cold weather. I was I say,
we send some Republicans up there to move Clay before
you go. Can I just somebody that wanted to send
you off for the weekend properly before you go and
search for seashells on the seashore. Jeff wrote to me, Buck,
you gotta watch that Clay guy.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
Tell him.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
We're all glad that the University of Tennessee decided to
bring back D one football after twenty eight years. I
don't even know what that means, but it sounds salty.
Here's what I'll say. I understand why Alabama fans are
in mourning because two of the last three years, the
University of Tennessee has whipped your ass all right, I'm
headed to the beach on that buck you're gonna finish up.

(14:37):
I'll look for messages. I'll see if my boy Koby's
there with a telescope trying to figure out what's the
thing called the I always get that thing called not
that you would spikeline electromagnometer thing, No, no, no, the
thing that all the detectives have, like the magnifying glass. Right,
oh yeah, everybody walks around with that some weird I
thought you meant searching for metal in the beach.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
I was way off.

Speaker 1 (14:59):
All right, have a great time. I'm tell Larlee boys,

Speaker 1 (17:32):
And how Clay mentioned that.

Speaker 9 (17:33):
Before and yes, yes, it's uh, it's a it's a Friday.
It's a good friday. America is doing great. You know,
things are going very well. Isn't that nice? Very nice?
Very good time for this country? Take take that in
What do you have?

Speaker 2 (17:48):
What do you say? Oh? Sorry?

Speaker 9 (17:51):
The Deep Dive podcast on South Africa. That's going to
be a new one coming out this weekend. Everything uh
information dents about South Africa we talked about, So check
that out in the clay and Podcast network. All right,
save as much as one thousand dollars a year on
your cell phone bill without sacrificing any of the quality.
Switch your cell phone service to pure Talk. You'll get
the same nationwide five G service you might get from

(18:11):
AT and T, A T Mobile, Verizon. That's because pure
Talk utilizes the same tower, same networks as one of
those companies. The only difference pure Talk just saves you
a lot of money for the same service. Pure Talk
doesn't have big overhead costs like retail stores and fancy headquarters.
They purposefully make great cell phone service inexpensive because it
should be. Right now, you can get a brand new
Samsung Galaxy from Puretalk for free with a qualifying plan

(18:34):
that starts at just thirty five dollars a month. Give
you unlimited talk text, fifteen gigs of data, and a
mobile hotspot on America's most dependable five G network. Switch
to Pure Talk for just thirty five dollars a month,
cut your cell phone bill in half, and get a
brand new Samsung Galaxy for free. Dial pound two fifty
say Clay and Buck again. Dial pound two five zero,
say Clay and Buck.

Speaker 12 (18:55):
People have said they've never seen anything like taking place
over the last four days in terms of investment, in
terms of the kind of money coming back into the
United States and all that money. The money is a
nice word, but it's really jobs. We have jobs that
are at a level that we very soon will not
be able to Nobody can duplicate it. And people want

(19:15):
to be our partner. They want to be investing in
the United States, and they weren't doing that. They weren't
happy with the United States for a pretty long period
of time. So we've done something that I'm very proud of.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
He's managed to have an incredibly successful trip through the
Middle East, and I think that's really by all accounts
thus far, at least anybody who's trying to be even
vaguely honest about it. He has gotten a tremendous amount
of investment commitments.

Speaker 9 (19:44):
He has managed to move the ball downfield on negotiations
with Iran. He has opened up a pathway for Syria
to become a somewhat normal country that has a future
instead of the war torn nightmare that has been for

(20:04):
over a decade now. So yeah, there's some very good
stuff going on.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
I just want to tell you all as I'm sitting here,
Jesse Kelly, who you all know is an excellent host
on Premiere Radio Networks in the evenings, he has let
me know that he and Comy are in fact the
same height. I thought that Jesse might be a little
smaller than Comy. Turns out no, they're both six foot eight.
So he didn't want me to get that one wrong.
Thank you, Jesse, just making sure that is enormous. By

(20:32):
the way, like this guy, how could you be that
tall and not be in the NBA? I bet Comy.
I bet Comy throws a baseball like a girl and
shoots a basketball like he grew up you know, in
Siberia or something.

Speaker 2 (20:44):
Well, actually they may be pretty good at basketball. These days.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
But anyway, Yeah, that's where we are on the Mid
East trip for Trump. It's going very well. Things are
really starting to click with this administration. Hopefully the Big
Beautiful Bill. That's not the official name, is it.

Speaker 2 (21:02):
It might be. I don't know it's Trump. It could be.

Speaker 1 (21:04):
I mean, if they can call the Biden team can
call the Inflation Reduction Act, something that doesn't reduce inflation
in all, if anything makes it worse, I think we
called the Big Beautiful Bill. Senator Ram Paul who was
with us a few days ago, this is cut twelve.
He is not so thrilled about the Big Beautiful Bill
when it comes to the cuts though. Let's take a

(21:24):
look at this plate twelve.

Speaker 13 (21:25):
The problem is is it's asking conservatives like myself to
raise the debt ceiling five trillion dollars.

Speaker 1 (21:32):
That's a that's historic.

Speaker 13 (21:33):
No one's ever raised the debt selling that much. It
will be a record for Congress to raise the debt
five trillion dollars. But also an indicates that this year
the deficit will be over two trillion, but it means
they're anticipating close to three trillion for the next year.
It's really a slap in the face that those of
us who are excited about Elon Musk and Doze and
all the cuts, where are the cuts? If the cuts

(21:54):
are real, why are we gonna borrow five trillion?

Speaker 2 (21:57):
I have been asking the same thing.

Speaker 1 (22:00):
I had so much hope for Doze, and I think
Elon has shown a lot of what is absurd within
the government. But there has to be action taken by
those in a position of power in government to do
something about it, to get to those cuts. This is
about It's not just Center Ram Paul who is concerned
about this bill. Senator Ron Johnson, this is thirteen. He's

(22:23):
a little bit unhappy with it.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
Play it.

Speaker 11 (22:27):
My calculations, we're gonna actually increase in depth. So that's
we're going to go from thirty seven trillion dollars in
debt to over sixty trillion dollars in debt over the
next ten years. It's completely unsustainable. So we've got to
get this under control. But give the president the border funding,
extend current tax saw, take an automatic tax increase off table,
make sure we don't default on a debt. We could
have already had that done, but now we're into this

(22:47):
very complex, very difficult negotiation on one big, beautiful bill.
This is not getting the job done again. I ran
in twenty ten because we were more Jared Shildon's future.
We were fourteen trillion dollars in debt. Now we're thirty
seven trillion dollars debt and Republicans aren't fixing the problem,
We're exacerbating it. That's unacceptable.

Speaker 9 (23:05):
Yeah, that's not what I like to hear. And you know,
we have Senators Paul and Johnson on the show regularly.
I think they are there are two of the best
we have on our team. It's been a while, you know,
we haven't had Ted Cruise on it in a while. Can
we reach out to Ted? Reach out to Ted's team?
Senator Cruise, I just feel like it's been a while.
We got to check in on him, see how he's doing.
And he's been busy.

Speaker 1 (23:26):
But you know, we've got we've got these great senators
who I think are saying what needs to be said
on this one. And here's what I would offer up though, where.

Speaker 2 (23:35):
Should the cuts be.

Speaker 9 (23:37):
It's one thing to talk about cuts and be the
principled person. And I'm not casting any dispersions one way
or the other here, but to be the principal person
who says we need to make more cuts, tell me
what those cuts are. We have to know what they're
what they are if we're going to hold anybody in
the Congress to account for doing it. And with Doge,

(23:59):
you know, well the cuts are even if they do
what we've seen so far, I think it might be
in the hundreds of billions, which would be very nice.
But if we're raising the debt ceiling five trillion dollars,
we got to figure out where's all this money going
and where can we pull back some of the money.
We don't want to do tax increases? Of course, fine,
well what are we going to do? That means there

(24:21):
has to be less spending somewhere.

Speaker 14 (24:23):
You know.

Speaker 1 (24:23):
This is where I get a little bit frustrated because
even among conservatives, even among people on the right, we
talk in circles on this. And this is why every
time there's a debt ceiling fight, I mean, this is
the most boring thing. This is brinksmanship with no brink
and they're gonna raise the debt ceiling and it's not
gonna change, you know.

Speaker 2 (24:40):
Oh there's gonna be a default. No, there's not.

Speaker 9 (24:44):
This is where we have to really get our hands dirty.
DOGE is about efficiency and finding fraud and inefficiencies in governments,
very important, but that's a I think best case hundreds
of billions of dollars of cuts.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
Now we should clearly make those cuts. And so when
Senator Paul says where are the cuts? I agree? But
what are the other cuts that can be made so
that we don't go a trillion or two every year
for the next five or ten years into debt deeper
into debt.

Speaker 2 (25:20):
What are we going to do? I know this is
where we get into the all.

Speaker 9 (25:24):
Right, I mean, if it really is just that we
can't you know, we need to spend basically what we're
spending on the military, because that's very important, and we're
not going to do any substantial cuts in the military,
which I'm not advocating for. And then we can't touch
any entitlements, you know what we're saying, and I mean
even reform, not touching the entil Like if someone's getting
their Medicare now that doesn't get that doesn't change. But

(25:46):
if you don't change it to you know, to something
else for the generation that's you know, years below that
or decades below that. What we're really saying is we
know we can't afford this, but we're going to keep
spending it anyway. And if that's where we are as
a I think it's just better for us to say
that out loud and understand it so we can stop
wasting time pretending like we're going to reign in spending.
Because if we can't reign in spending right now with

(26:08):
Trump and the team around him that he has and
with the mandate that he got in this election, because
Congress just won't do it, when is Congress ever going
to do it? Well, the answer is they won't until
it's too late, when there's a true financial catastrophe and
a true reset, which would be very painful and not
something we would really want to contemplate. We don't know

(26:29):
when it will happen, but I just want there to
be greater honesty on this. I mean, Speaker Johnson on
the other side, this is fourteen. Speaker Johnson is very
pleased with this legislation, So play that clip.

Speaker 15 (26:43):
This will be one of the most consequential pieces of
legislation ever passed by the United States Congress. It is large,
it is comprehensive, and it deals with reconciling the budget
in a way that will be fiscally responsible. We're going
to slash taxes, including on tips, over time, social security
for seniors and job creators, restore American energy dominance you've heard,
secure our border, and deport illegal aliens. We're going to
eliminate waste for outn abuse, return to peace through strength,

(27:06):
and reduce spending, all at the same time. And I
put reconciliation on an aggressive timetable back in January. I said
that we would try to do this as quickly as possible.
We're still on target to hit that Memorial Day deadline,
which people balked at when we first said it. The
American people are counting on us to get this done
and get it done quickly.

Speaker 1 (27:24):
All right, let's let's you know, team Ali, Let's get
let's get Senator Ron john or rand Paul whoever I
think we had ran on most recently. I don't know
like either of them. And then let's invite Speaker Johnson.
He'll probably say he's busy being Speaker of the House
and getting this through. But let's let's see if we
get them all next week, before the next two weeks
before Memorial Day, because I want to ask these questions

(27:44):
because right now there's just it's like everyone's talking past
each other. Ran Paul saying, where are the cuts? Okay,
where are they? Speaker Johnson says on the House. And
I understand they have to reconcile these right. I know
it's different bills and they had there's a process, but
everybody should know what are the cuts that they want
or what the cuts that exist are in whether it's
in their very whether it's in the House or the

(28:05):
Senate version. So I want to know where this is
and and what's going on here. I want to ask
Speaker Johnson, Okay, are there do tell us? And then,
by the way, maybe the whole plan is they're going
to tell us next week and they're still working it out.

Speaker 2 (28:17):
That's very possible.

Speaker 9 (28:18):
But I do think we should know because now is
the time to do good things that really matter, especially
for the long term. It's now, it's not in a year.
It's not when people are thinking about the midterms. It's
certainly not in uh, you know, three years, when we're
not going to have a President Trump to lead the
Republican Party anymore, because he's going to be in the

(28:41):
in the you know, end of his second term, so
you know, and I mean lead the Republican Party in
terms of pushing for this kind of legislation and stuff.
And maybe he'll still be pushing, but it's different, as
we all know, when a president is in the the
end of his term, the political capital that he has
is not quite the same.

Speaker 2 (28:57):
So my point being the urgency of.

Speaker 1 (29:00):
Now now is when this has to happen and we
have to see the kinds of structural changes to spending
that will begin to if we all agree there is
a problem and we all agree it has to be fixed.
And I think everybody who is center all the way
to the right here and even maybe now not Demo
Democrats just want to spend us into oblivion.

Speaker 2 (29:21):
I really believe that.

Speaker 1 (29:22):
I think that they've just decided, you know what, smoke them,
if you got them, spend it. If you don't have it,
who cares, Let's just go for it. I think that's
the ethos of their party now, which is the let's
just burn it all down and have fun while it's
burning approach to things. You know, this is the Santa
Claus is real. Everyone gets stuff it's not going to
be paid for and let's just see what happens. So

(29:44):
it is on Republicans to live in reality, just like
we have to do on so many other issues, to
live in the fiscal and monetary and mathematical reality of
let's do something about this. And I just want to
see what that is.

Speaker 9 (29:58):
And there needs to be greater clai we're hearing have
the big beautiful bill. We need to have greater clarity
about what is going to be in this, you know,
and what is going to.

Speaker 1 (30:09):
Be cut, what is going to be improved, what's going
to get better here? Because this I think that this
is the best spending bill you are likely to see,
or rather, this is our best chance for a really
good spending bill in Trump's second term. Right now, political
capital at its peak. Look what Trump is doing. Look
where the markets are, all the investment that's coming in.

(30:31):
It only gets harder after this, It only gets harder
because members of Congress are going to be thinking about
their jobs, their position and all this, and they're going
to be hedging, you know, the ones that are a
little weaken the knees over what to do.

Speaker 9 (30:45):
So now is the time. So we'll try to get
more clarity on that in the next week or two.
I just want to let you know we are following
that here and looking into these versions of the bills,
and it's amazing. It's also a Democrat. You're never going
to have a Democrat party that is more flat on
its ass than it is right now now, at least,
I mean, I don't think realistically you can assume that's
going to happen again for a very long time. The

(31:06):
Democrats are a non factor except in the ability to
obstruct because of the filibuster rule, but they are a
non factor in the narrative. There are a non factor
in a messaging opposition to what's going on here. So
the time is now, and I think this is really important.
And you know, you got Trump abroad racking up all

(31:26):
these wins and doing what he's doing. All right, Congress,
Let's let's get some clarity here, Let's get on board,
and let's have the big beautiful bill be truly worthy
of the name and Trump's signature on it. Do you
have a backup plan to stay in touch with family, neighbors, coworkers,
or friends when there's power outages? Rapid radios, state of

Speaker 2 (33:08):
And get deep.

Speaker 9 (33:09):
We'll do a deep dive on the budget, on spending
on the Big Beautiful Bill, like what's in it, what's happening?
So I want all of you to really know and
and that way we can have the most informed discussions
possible here and try to push I mean, look, we
got we got senators listening to the show. We got
Trump White House people listening to the show. You know,
this is an important forum to air out these issues

(33:32):
and discuss what needs to happen here. So with that, yeah,
we'll have Senator Ron Johnson on on Monday. Make sure
you tune in for that diving into the Big Beautiful Bill,
where are the cuts and all that stuff and on
over the weekend. I didn't realize this.

Speaker 1 (33:45):
I've been fascinated by really Southern Africa meaning a few
countries in the region, but South Africa is Zimbabwe slash
formerly Rhodesia. For a long time, I used to talk
about it on my own radio show solo years and
years ago. And so when we gave you some of
the background on this, people were really interested, and I
know others said, oh I heard a little bit of it,
but I want to go back. And that's where we

(34:06):
have the Deep Dive podcast, which would be available for
you over the weekend. And this is where we if
we have really meaty segments, maybe the budget one Monday
for example, that our information dense will go to the
Deep Dives as a place that's just curated for you
to really soak up that information. All right, our talkbacks,
let's rack and stack them here, crash U b B
unidentified play.

Speaker 2 (34:26):
It, hey Buck.

Speaker 16 (34:28):
One of the first things that you should have been
told is that in a marriage, you are not on
an equal play and filled you'll always be held accountable
for things from your wife that you could not in
return hold her accountable for. Love this you, guys, Thanks.

Speaker 1 (34:44):
Okay, thank you for the marital I think he's referring
to my wife getting a little miffed with me over
a dream that she had recently, and I was looking
at her like, what am I supposed to do?

Speaker 9 (34:57):
Don don't ask any questions, Buck, just just take the heat.
Just take the heat.

Speaker 5 (35:02):
D D.

Speaker 1 (35:02):
Bobby Joe from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Let's play it, hi, Buck.

Speaker 4 (35:06):
I just have some parenteeing advice. I am a mother
of five, and I just want to say, don't wait
too long in between children. They play together and bond
so much better when they are younger, so don't wait
too long for another one. Enjoy your show. Thank you
so much for keeping us all on form.

Speaker 1 (35:27):
Thank you so much, Bobby Joe. And just you know,
I'm trying to give my wife some breathing room here
after you know, it's been I think six weeks since
she was in the hospital. But we both we want to,
you know, we would love to. We would love to
be able to have another kid as soon as we can.

Speaker 9 (35:39):
We'd love to have another one after that, and you know,
we'll see, but yeah, we want to build the family
as fast as we can.

Speaker 1 (35:45):
She loves being a mom more than anything. I love
being a dad more than anything.

Speaker 2 (35:49):
And let's go.

Speaker 9 (35:51):
Podcast listener Jeff ff In Missouri hit it.

Speaker 14 (35:55):
Hey guys, Jeff, truck driver from Missouri, just wanted to
talk to you about the grocery shop and the thing. Yeah,
my wife and I we have this problem. But I
just get on the phone with her and say, Okay,
there's twelve different types of this thing, which one do
you want? And that easily solves the problem because I
just shop while I'm on the phone with her, and
then we can kind of work it out that way.

(36:15):
That's the best way I've found to do it. Will
you guys have a good one?

Speaker 2 (36:19):
All right? Truck or Jeff? That is very excellent advice.

Speaker 1 (36:24):
You, sir, have been smart enough to understand that it's
good to admit when you don't know something. I am
very stubborn and just refuse to admit in real time
that I cannot find the thing my wife wants, so
I make text her, but calling her feels like admitting
defeat to me. But I think your way is much better,
So good on you have a great weekend, everybody.
