For The Dads is for every guy who needs a place to talk, vent, and laugh about all the insane, hilarious, and chaotic sh** (sometimes literal) that comes with being a dad.

Hosted by Will Compton–NFL Vet, creator of Bussin' With the Boys, and proud dad of two. This show isn’t about expert advice and how fatherhood is the greatest thing on earth—it’s about embracing the love and suck of parenthood every day. From balancing work and family to battling the mental load, fears, and the moments that wreck you in the best way, we dive into it all with honesty, vulnerability, and a sense of humor. Cause at the end of the day... us dads have no idea what we're doing.

Alongside Will is his producer Sherman Young, a soon-to-be dad who’s currently enjoying his last few months of uninterrupted sleep and freedom. Together, they’ll break down everything that can go right and wrong (...usually wrong) when you bring tiny humans into this world.

Expect funny parenting stories, laughs, call-ins, advice, weekly themes, and the kind of conversations you’d have over a cold beer in the garage. Whether you’re raising teens or still Googling “how to install a car seat”, For the Dads is the ultimate podcast for dads who are in it, about to be in it, or just trying to do their best while screwing it up along the way.

One came up from Texas, Okay, and then obviously the
Huskers like oh yeah, you know, I'm all shouting out

Razorback equipment manager d M.

Speaker 5 (05:43):
Jilly Bean, after seeing us go to the Baylor game
with Scarlett, and was like, you have inspired me to.
I thought I was going to miss some of the
season this year with our newborn, but you have inspired
me to now go to the games and try bringing
the newborn.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
Dude, that's what it's about. I know.

Speaker 5 (06:03):
That got me really jacked. It was sick also to
your point. For the first time in my time at Bustin'
I had a semen Team sixer come up to me
and he was juiced. His name is Johnnyah young Cat
and yelled my name from like a mile away, ran

(06:25):
up to me.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
How the boys hat on?

Speaker 5 (06:27):
He goes, I gotta keep it up, buck, dude, I'm
SC six. I don't have a kid, but I'm seeming
Team six baby. I fucking love for the dead. I
was like, oh my god. I gave him the biggest
hug in the entire world. I was like, Johnny, Oh
my god, he said, I did I have a podcast
every single day of the week when I'm working out.

(06:48):
I didn't have a Wednesday one. And I said, oh
fuck it, I like Will Compton, let's see what it's
all about.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
Oh god, I swear.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Hey, buddy, listen, I want to step on your territory.
I'm anna SD sixer st six.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Like, I don't want to fool you about being fully
bet six.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
Yes, I ain't a dad. Ain't trying to be a
dad right now.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
He crushed it.

Speaker 5 (07:08):
Dude, I was dying, laughing, dying laughing. I talked to
him for like twenty minutes because Joe was in the
mom room.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
Just keeping it. Yeah, well we'll get it. We'll get
into the.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Storytelling, because I'm super curious how that we haven't really
gotten to talk at all, and we've seen each other.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
In the all, like we see each other in the shop.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
We had to bust with the boys earlier, and I've
been intentional, like, let's not get too fired up in
time someone to learn.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
Yes, I've been trying to stay away from you because.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
When you left last week, you're in the bit of
a doghouse. I was that bit of a dog house
situation with Wifey. That's my dad loss. Okay, we'll get
into we'll get into Yeah we should. We rebost some
comments at the top of the episode. Shut out people
who've been in the comments section.

Speaker 5 (07:48):
Please can I start because I have an apology. I
want to get in front of something.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Go ahead, Okay, go ahead.

Speaker 5 (07:53):
That's that because a fat Stafford. First Off, thank you
for all the fat Stafford comments. They made me laugh
every single time. Secondly, I was seeing some comments specifically
directed at me, and I was not offended.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
If anything, I was.

Speaker 5 (08:08):
A little bit heartbroken because Will had mentioned it. One
episode was like talking to Mike. Talking to Mike, I
come in. Our two guys behind the desk that are
always killing it. They also giving great production notes. Hey Sherman,
make sure we're getting a lot of comments talking to
the mic, and I was like, damn, cause I've been
reading that too, So I just want to read out.
Zach Davis two four zero two he said, Papa Team

(08:31):
six member here, huge fan of the pod.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
Could be just Dad Years. It's not Zach.

Speaker 5 (08:37):
I've been leaning away from the mic and I am sorry.
I'm gonna try and get better, but SUREM needs to
speak into the microphone.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
That's great accountability, thank you, and that's good hand up
postgame presser, facing the noise, not running away from it,
and saying this offensive operation starts with me.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
It does.

Speaker 5 (08:56):
And this is a podcast. At the end of the day,
I get comfortable. I started laughing. I feel like I'm
just talking to you, but I got to remember.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
I'm right here to speakining of I. I have a few.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
There were a lot that I screenshoted, okay, and I
have a few that's more on like the the serious
side of things. Oh, I'll start with JJ Smith. He
titled it IVF.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
Hello.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
My name is Carl and my wife's name is Ali,
And we just stumbled upon the ivf's episode Will did
with his wife, my wife and I. If you guys
can recall on Mother's Day, we dropped a Mother's Day
episode where I had my wife on bus with the
boys and.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
We talked through our IVF journey.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
We were going through our second round of IVF here
in a few weeks, trying for our first child as
a cancer survivor, and the problem being on my end.
We're going through it together. The advice they gave on
that episode between the communication and not having a timeline,
the whole story in general was inspirational. I think in
life there are signs and stuff when you pay attention.
And the fact that I came across that episode and

(09:54):
heard what we needed to hear at the right time
as a sign relating heavy on all the feelings you
guys went through between the pain, shame, guilt, and helplessness
that was described.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
I felt so hopeless at.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
One point, but being more open about it and seeing
the situation can happen to anyone and their positive outcomes
is what we needed and was bringing tears to my
eyes at times. JJ, I appreciate you for being vulnerable
with your boy in the DMS and sending that message.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
I think IVF is something that isn't talked about a
lot because it just feels what's the word I'm looking for, taboo?

Speaker 3 (10:30):
Yeah, taboo?

Speaker 1 (10:31):
Yeah, just because everybody has a different journey with pregnancy.
People try over and over, you know, I have my
wife and I we were very fortunate that Scottie was
our first attempt with IVF and we have a lot
of close friends that have tried time and time again,
some still trying through their like on their fifth round.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
Yeah of it.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
But JJ, I just wanted to let you know I
read that message and I really appreciated reading it. I'm
glad that episode helped you guys out. And again, a
big theme in that episodisode was it's not about being
strong or seeming strong. It's more so about staying connected
with your partner. So I'm glad you stumbled upon it.
It warms my heart and fires me up. And thank

(11:12):
you for reaching out, my friend.

Speaker 5 (11:14):
It's a great comment, hard thing to talk about, and
it's cool that you're opening up on the podcast and
allowing people to feel like they're having a conversation or
feeling more comfortable to have a conversation about said subject.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
I think it's awesome.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
Yeah, I appreciate that. My friend show, do you want
to rip off? The You want to rip off? The
next one?

Speaker 3 (11:33):
I got another one? Okay.

Speaker 5 (11:35):
So we have our friend Zach on Twitter. I don't
know if you saw this, will, but he put out
a tweet of a washer that was disassembled, fully disassembled.
I sent it to Chef he can put it up
on the screen. Okay, he tweets at me, which thank you, Zach.
He said, dryer goes out eighteen days before I joined

(11:56):
PT six. Good I could teach Old Willie one shelf
a think or two hauh suroom stew, which I laughed
so hard because I'm like, he's wrapping me in with him.
Of like I would know what the hell to do
with this assembly A watcher like Willie wouldn't know.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
What the hell to do with this.

Speaker 5 (12:15):
Between me and handyman out here, a couple of handy
guys sure would know.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
I back. I was like, dude, I would have no
idea what to do.

Speaker 5 (12:24):
And he had a great reply and said YouTube University,
which I'm a big.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
Believer in YouTube unit. Yes, yeah, I really.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
Am eth king.

Speaker 5 (12:33):
Yeah king, so Zach, shout out shout out.

Speaker 1 (12:37):

the Fatherhood, our room had a recliner chair in the couch.
I hopped in that chair, laid back, and my wife,
fresh out of surgery, turns to me from the hospital
bed and says, you better get on that couch.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
You're not going to get the couch.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
Badge I had no idea she was a milkyer that
fired me.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
The hell up, shout out your wife.

Speaker 5 (13:04):

I read that one like the day had dropped and
totally forgot about it.

Speaker 1 (13:11):

a great comment and said, yeah, sure, and basically everything

The reason this podcast is so legendary is because of
the vast range of emotion experience.

Speaker 2 (17:41):
You of what you have watching from it, from.

Speaker 1 (17:43):
Absolute hilarious and relatable stories to dialogue that creates inward
reflection and betterment is truly unique. How y'all can pull
it off organically, keep hanging one shelf and waging war
against the squatting raccoons, because every time you do PT
six grow stronger. Ps Ifford will be in my thoughts
in prayers. An entire week with the house to himself.

(18:03):
What cool and unusual punishment from the loving wife I forget.

Speaker 3 (18:08):
You get the week now? Yeah, I get the week now.

Speaker 5 (18:10):

Speaker 2 (18:17):
Good, they're coming home. The good.

Speaker 5 (18:21):
Worse, they're staying. They're staying. It's not that I tried

Speaker 2 (18:28):
Out, time out, time out. They're staying. Where are they?

Speaker 5 (18:30):
Oh, they're staying in Texas, my family. If you weren't
listening last episode, we discussed that. Unfortunately, so I just
went on a trip to Texas with my family. Correct,
That was fortunate. The unfortunate part is my wife and
my sweet baby girl Scarlet, they're saying for an additional
six days until Saturday. I will be home alone. Unfortunately,

(18:54):
house to myself, just me and the doggoes with nothing
to do except until Saturday. No, I will have nothing
to do except play video games if I can squeeze
it in fuck, we have a group chat with all
of our gooners, our video game.

Speaker 3 (19:15):
Group, and we usually like to send.

Speaker 5 (19:17):
In that Batman Jeff where he's standing on the building
and the bat signals up in the air. And I
sent that to True Glover, who I haven't spoken to
in three years instead of True Goons group chat. Yeah,
and he replied in like thirty seconds and said, Bro,
what up.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
I don't know what I'm gonna follow up with.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
I'll tell you what you do. It's a you're gonna
be bored, You're gonna be very lonely. Here's what I'll
do for you. Okay, when I get home and I'm
talk to the wife and I'm gonna really good friend
of mine. He's feeling very isolated in alone.

Speaker 2 (20:00):
Yeah, and I need.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
To go be there for him and support him. You
gotta go somewhere and leave it no sooner. That's the
That's that's one thing I told him where I draw
the line. I don't leave the house because I got
a family to protect and a family to hang out with.
But from May thirty on every night, I'm gonna support
him over the headset. Yeah, it's a little place we
call Discord.

Speaker 5 (20:21):
Do you think you could do that for me tonight.
You do not have to do that, dude.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
I know and trust me, no part of me wants to. Yeah,
because I love getting to bed early. I love being
a father, I love being a husband.

Speaker 3 (20:35):
Maybe Tuckan's running a little late.

Speaker 1 (20:37):
Yeah, but to be there for my friend it would
be I It would not only be an honor, but
I feel like a responsibility.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
Yeah, to have your back.

Speaker 5 (20:47):
Can I tell you some even worse news of when
I came in today. Taylor was even saying he would
be one to do the same for me.

Speaker 2 (20:57):
It's a big ass for all the boys.

Speaker 3 (20:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (21:01):
Can I ask a question? Yeah, go ahead. What was
the developing story?

Speaker 1 (21:06):
Because I always thought you had the house to yourself
the entire time I do it.

Speaker 3 (21:09):
Was that I texted a guy haven't talked to you
in three years? That jiff?

Speaker 2 (21:13):
Oh this so the developing story has nothing to do
with your family.

Speaker 3 (21:16):
No, oh god.

Speaker 5 (21:18):
I just to know how to reply to me randomly
texting this guy and then him being like, oh, what's good, bro?
And how do I because I don't want to be like, hey,
I was trying to text my video game chat.

Speaker 3 (21:30):
Sorry.

Speaker 1 (21:30):
Yeah, yeah, I'll figure it out for you. I think
I'm gonna have to approach the wife with you know
how I've been bitching about playing video games? Do you
know how I hate it? Yeah, I trust me. I
want to do this, but sometimes discipline is choosing what
you want most over what you want. Now the hard

(21:50):
I don't want to have to walk upstairs and play
this game. Yeah, what I want most is a loving home.
That was the speaker. Oh but I need to do,
but I don't want to do And let's go good
with the boys.

Speaker 5 (22:03):
Yeah, to throw it back to episode three, The harder
choice is usually the right one to make. Dude, not
to challenge you and not to throw that into your
corner and add some extra pressure.

Speaker 1 (22:16):
That's what PT six has accountability. If you need to
check me, you gotta check yeah, yeah, all right, we'll
finish it off.

Speaker 2 (22:23):
This is a this is a serious one. Shirm.

Speaker 3 (22:25):
Oh okay, okay, Legitimately I'm locked in. I'm locked in.

Speaker 1 (22:33):
This is from Chuck It Up four. Need some support
guidance from Papa Team six. My fiance is seventeen weeks
pregnant and sadly she ruptured. We got a bad prognosis
for our baby girl. How do I go about being
supportive and strong while also being sensitive to her. I
can't imagine what she's going through as she's putting some
of the blame on her and her body when that

(22:55):
couldn't be farther from the truth. Begging for guidance for
a guy that's dreamed of being a girl dad, that
kind of hits gosh, I hate that.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
Man, that's so hard. Yeah, I first off, thank.

Speaker 2 (23:11):
You for yeah. Yeah, I appreciate you for sharing that. Man, and.

Speaker 1 (23:16):
Bro, I would say, there are no words. My truest
advice would be your presence will be better than any.

Speaker 2 (23:27):
Advice that you could give her.

Speaker 1 (23:29):
And don't minimize your own grief and your own pain
to feel like you were posturing and being strong. I
was saying a little bit ago that it's not necessarily
about being strong, and it's about being connected. And I
would say, just sit in it with her, be there
for her, and just do small things because there are

(23:51):
times like when you're a dad, like when you're the
guy in the relationship.

Speaker 2 (23:56):
You feel like.

Speaker 1 (23:58):
You're kind of useless or there's nothing that you can
do because your body's not the one going through it. Yes,
and when you when your partner is going through something.
You're in totally different mindsets. At times, you want to
lead with like an optimistic quote or something that's going
to make her feel strong or you're being strong for her. Yeah,
And what I've learned is it's not necessarily about that.

(24:22):
It's just it's just being in it with them and
trying to do whatever small things you might be able
to do, whether it's do a lot of laundry, yes,
get her you know from my wife lake, you know,
an ice latte, having picking up around that, like doing
things that when she sees you, she's thinking like he's
thinking about me, even though he might not have.

Speaker 2 (24:43):
The word yes.

Speaker 5 (24:46):
In a very vulnerable emotional state, all the little things
are going to seem like really big things on the
bad end of the spectrum, and to your point, on
the other end of the spectrum, those little things are
also going to feel like baked to those little small
victories of making sure the couch and all that stuff
looks really nice and pretty, doing the dishes, doing those

(25:07):
like little things around the house. As far as that
kind of support, The only advice that I would give
to this guy that shared this is be accessible to
your wife emotionally allow her to pour into and onto
you what she is feeling and experiencing right now, make

(25:31):
sure that you also have that person, maybe not your wife,
but have your own person that you are able to
do the same because you're going to be there for her.
And to your point you said, like make sure you
feel this and you know.

Speaker 1 (25:47):
Don't minimize like you know, yeah, yeah, men are men
will put off their grief and again, you want to
be a strong guy.

Speaker 5 (25:55):
And that will allow you to be there for her
more if you're able to offload that stuff with somebody
else maybe, uh and process that other than that, dude,
just like best wishes and.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
Yeah, I'm sorry, dude, I'm sorry you guys.

Speaker 2 (26:08):
Are you guys went through that?

Speaker 3 (26:10):
That's hard?

Speaker 1 (26:12):
Yeah, And being vulnerable with your wife, like talking to
her about your what you're feeling, your fears, your anxieties, it, uh,
your openness gives her permission to lean on you.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
Yeah, if she's feeling like a little shut in. That's
a really good.

Speaker 1 (26:28):
Note because sometimes so your partner wants to know, hey,
how are okay? Is he going through something like does
he feel this the same way I do? He sounds
very stoic right now, kind of you know what I mean.

Speaker 5 (26:40):
Yes, they This leads directly into my Dad Loss with
the communication stuff with Jill is a perfect example of it.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
Really, let's get into the deadline. We do.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
Got to keep it under and out. We have to
keep it How to keep it tight? You gotta keep
it tight, got to keep it right.

Speaker 3 (26:55):
Eight minutes, eight minutes, nothing with nothing but fifty two
minutes to go, We're rolling.

Speaker 2 (27:01):
We're rolling.

Speaker 3 (27:02):
Losses of the Week, Dad, Losses of the Week.

Speaker 5 (27:05):
I texted Will about this, and I don't know how
much of the details I'll share of it because I
forgot to talk with Jill about me sharing.

Speaker 3 (27:13):
This on the podcast.

Speaker 5 (27:13):
I don't want to get you back in the dog
I don't want to get back in the dog house.
But I'll share enough to where I don't think she'll
be upset at all. Oh and Chef was back there saying, hey,
we can always.

Speaker 3 (27:27):
Yeah, we got to protect the fathers out there. That's
a good man, that's a good man, a great man,
our captain.

Speaker 5 (27:33):
Chef Dad Loss was Jill for like three days, seemed
very quiet around the house and was not short or
rude with me, but just like very quiet.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
And I was like, I feel like something's up with Jill,
like what is going on?

Speaker 5 (27:53):
And I allowed for like a ton of opportunities of
you know, asking, asking, asking.

Speaker 3 (27:59):
Is everything okay? To no avail.

Speaker 5 (28:03):
Came up to this guy, my accountability buddy at work,
and I said, Hey, I know we have a really
busy day. I have one serious question for you really quick.
I feel like something's going on with my wife and
I want to try and let her know that, like
I'm here to listen if she wants to share anything.

Speaker 3 (28:20):
Will gave me some great advice of.

Speaker 5 (28:25):
Tell her if there is nothing wrong and I'm being
crazy and overthinking this, you just let me know, but
that I will ask you one last time because.

Speaker 3 (28:34):
I really want to know your heart. I am interested.

Speaker 5 (28:38):
And I didn't just recite the line because I was like, oh,
this will get it, but it was true. I was like,
I want to know what is going on? And she
briefly shared that she was not feeling prioritized in this
time in our life, which is totally understandable. There's a
lot of stuff going on with work, there's a lot

(28:59):
of stuff going on with Scarlett, there's a lot of
stuff going on with planning this family weekend that we
just had, and with all that moving pieces, there's not
a whole lot of like Jill time or Jill and Sherman.

Speaker 3 (29:12):
Time, and my dad loss is I kind.

Speaker 5 (29:16):
Of screwed up on being able to like schedule that
time and prioritize that time. And then we had a
really great follow up text of like I gotta get
something on the calendar, truly on the calendar where it's
like this is priority number one. I'm I'm sorry, no,

(29:36):
I cannot do that extra thing, or I got a
jet because at this time I'm.

Speaker 3 (29:40):
Doing this with my wife like we are doing it.
So that was my dad loss. So but it also
turned into a dad win.

Speaker 2 (29:48):
That's good. Yeah, yeah, it's awesome.

Speaker 1 (29:50):
I'll tell you this, You're not the only one going
through and not that there's been anything that's happened with
my wife and I, but something like dad loss related
is kind of just my own per personal losses. I'm
feeling like I'm starting to feel like guilt could be
creeping up just because the season is underway, and I legitimately,

(30:15):
like I am a big believer that if you don't
write it down, it won't happen. If you don't truly
prioritize it. Like people talk all the time, and I'm
guilty of this too, but you talk about like you know,
people talk about like faith, family, career or you know,
career and family and all this stuff, and it's it's
nice to say, but to put into action.

Speaker 2 (30:37):
What the action usually.

Speaker 1 (30:38):
Looks like is you're so bals to the wall career wise,
because you want to be really good. You want to
be great at what you want to do. Like we
have an awesome we have an awesome brand, not only
for the dads but busting with the boys. We just
did the partnership with ESPN or will be in New
York every Thursday morning on Get Up, and there's.

Speaker 2 (30:55):
Just a lot of stuff coming down the pipe.

Speaker 1 (30:57):
And I just I know myself and if I I
don't intentionally get something on the calendar to prioritize my
wife and not only prioritize my wife, but also like
prioritize time like with my girls. So where I do
like a one on one with Rue, take a little
scotti Joe, or take the kids so Charle can go
and do something. Because she's a grinder and she's very
she's awesome.

Speaker 2 (31:18):
She is a.

Speaker 1 (31:19):
Fox whole partner. Yeah, I'm telling, but I just knowing it.
I know something will come up if I am not
being the intentional husband and the intentional father and the
whole thing and seeing how the world of family fits
into the puzzle and the chaos of career. Because it's
it goes, it can go to the back burners, like subconsciously,

(31:40):
even though it's a priority for me, because you want
to be so good at everything you're doing in your career.

Speaker 2 (31:47):
Like again, we do.

Speaker 1 (31:48):
It's like, we got we'll reacting the games of the
weekend for Busting. We got our interview that we do
with Bussing'. We got our podcast that we do with
for the Dads. We got streaming that we're gonna do
on Thursdays. We're gonna be on Get Up Thursday. We're
gonna be doing fall toward stuff to where we go
to games on the weekend, the locker room, the locker
oh yes, our game, our two gamling shows, college football
and NFL the locker.

Speaker 2 (32:08):
Room where we're doing fan duel picks.

Speaker 1 (32:10):
And to execute a high level on all of those shows.
There's a lot of study and prep work and things
I feel like I can't be out of the looper
left behind, because as we get bigger, I feel like
there's more audience and more expectation on being able to
deliver and know what I'm talking about versus just spewing
things out into the world. So even when I'm home,
there's times where I feel like I got a structure,

(32:31):
study time, and prep for the day before, and in
doing all that, it gets pushed under the stack of
these hypothetical papers of career, my family, and my intentionality
with my wife. So that is as a dad loss
and feeling you know, you're like will gave me great advice,

(32:51):
I'm thinking I need to fucking take my own advice
right now.

Speaker 3 (32:54):
We all because I do.

Speaker 1 (32:55):
It's like days can go fast, bro, and they get
away from you. Yes, and if something's not on the
calendar that hey, I'm intentionally thinking about this and prioritizing this,
then you're going to be more in a reactive state
when you are when that conversation does happen.

Speaker 2 (33:10):
Yes, it's like I want to get on the books.

Speaker 1 (33:12):
I want to get in like a cadence of you know,
getting childcare for the night. My wife and I like
get like getting a hotel room, we do a staycation,
just have like a night to ourselves and wake up
and go to a coffee shop.

Speaker 3 (33:22):
Yeah, just stuff like that.

Speaker 1 (33:25):
And it's like it's it's on the whole, you know,
the quadrant of urgent, important, important, not urgent, urgent, not important,
not important, not urgent. I feel like that is like
it's just it's been in my mind, like the last
forty eight hours since we've gotten back from Columbus that man,
I've got to get on my shit.

Speaker 2 (33:43):
I do too.

Speaker 5 (33:44):
I felt that that way this entire weekend with work. Weirdly,
I've been feeling that way with Jill, and then when
I was like on vacation, then I was feeling.

Speaker 3 (33:54):
That way about work.

Speaker 5 (33:56):
Yeah, And so I was like, Okay, I got to
make sure I'm you know, tweeting about this Baylor game
and you know, taking pictures of scarlet and blah blah,
I'll be doing a good job of because I was
overreacting with like wanting to prioritize Jill and walk in
for that and didn't want to have my phone out
too much in front of her and trying to find
that balance and which it was fine. I mean, Jill

(34:18):
is not a phone nazi or anything. And she's not
sitting there going like are you doing that?

Speaker 1 (34:22):
For far the dancing right, But you're you're you're conscious
of I'm in my own hat, yeah exactly. And I
know for me, dude, I don't know how it is
for your workload and getting like chasing all these rabbits
and feeling scattered.

Speaker 3 (34:35):
How do I get like that?

Speaker 2 (34:36):
I get a lot.

Speaker 3 (34:37):
I get a lot of like anxiety about it.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
Yes, And I know for me it's like Willie see
Willie one chelf, take one hour at the top of
the week, or take one out wherever it is, wherever
you can find an hour, just to have focus time
on how I'm going to prioritize the month out, the
week's out, write my priorities down, whether it be busting

(35:00):
for the dad's locker room. And then on the family side,
like if I want one on one time with Roof,
I want one on one time with my wife, like
writing those things down and then fitting them into the puzzle,
and even study time like prep time, like I know
I'm gonna need this, but I don't want to casually
do it at the end of the day when my
wife might be thinking, hey, we can catch up and
watch a show. Yes, because then I'll watch said show,

(35:23):
won't do any prep worker study, and then I'll be,
you know, scrambling before I get on said show the
next day, trying to like cram and figure it out.
And then my like again, I just I have to
be somebody that prepares. Yeah, those who what is it
those who fail to prepare prepare to fail?

Speaker 2 (35:40):
That is I am that.

Speaker 3 (35:43):
I also like doing.

Speaker 5 (35:45):
I got to do a day night with Jill on Saturday,
which she did a good job of making the reservation.

Speaker 3 (35:52):
All that stuff.

Speaker 5 (35:53):
But I was like fully for it and you know,
happy to you know, we're taking care of Scarlett.

Speaker 3 (35:59):
It's the first time somebody's watching Scarlett. It was my
mother in law. Shout out Lisa.

Speaker 5 (36:03):
She said, I need to shout out her name whenever
I bring up my mother in law, So I'll start
doing that. I got you, that's on me. But she
watched Scarlet and sitting in the booth with Jill, and
it felt like we were dating, like before we even
got engaged. Like just as like you have like two

(36:27):
or three cocktails, you're splitting appetizers, you're splitting salads, you're
splitting the entree and we're just like in the booth together,
just like cuddled up, and she's getting all you know,
like cozy and scooting up close to me and stuff,
and I'm like, dang, dude, it's been a minute since
we've done this, and that's really sad. Yeah, that's that

(36:49):
makes me really sad because I do love Scarlet and
I am so excited and like wanting to raise her
and all that stuff, but like prioritizing.

Speaker 3 (36:57):
My my day one, my girl, I gotta do it more.

Speaker 2 (37:01):
Yeah, and then you're in those moments and you're just
like you feel like.

Speaker 1 (37:04):
You just forget yes, well and to court your day one,
like just being in like a like date them.

Speaker 2 (37:12):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (37:13):
Do you know what I mean it becoming a roommate?

Speaker 2 (37:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (37:16):
She was like, I feel like I'm your roommate right
now and I am having fun being your roommate.

Speaker 3 (37:21):
You're a good roommate. But let's go back to like dating,
and you know, I'm like, I totally get it, totally
get it. So it was good.

Speaker 5 (37:30):
It was a dad loss, but it was a good
wake up call, especially going into this busy season of like, dude,
it's about to be even more crazy with everything that's
going to be going on around here that you really
need to lock in.

Speaker 3 (37:44):
Yeah, and to.

Speaker 5 (37:45):
The point of my therapist, which I've yet to do
this my homework.

Speaker 3 (37:49):
I set it here on.

Speaker 5 (37:50):
The pod doing the four pillars Sherman work friends and
uh what was the other one?

Speaker 2 (37:59):
Sherman Jill.

Speaker 3 (38:01):
I was gonna say it again. I just literally did
it again, Jill family. I gotta do it.

Speaker 5 (38:12):
I gotta sit down and do it. I am sorry, therapists.
I need to do my homework assignment. I see him
next Wednesday.

Speaker 2 (38:19):
I'll have it done one hour.

Speaker 1 (38:22):
What do you mean, just get to schedule it all,
like to prioritize to write this stuff out.

Speaker 3 (38:26):
Oh yeah, you talk about those four pillars.

Speaker 1 (38:28):
Like put pen to paper, bro quick body break to
shout out or sponsor Liquid IV? Are you soaking up
the last bits of summer before you get into your
fall routine.

Speaker 3 (38:37):
Are you gonna hit the outdoors? Are you gonna travel
a little bit?

Speaker 1 (38:40):
No matter what you're doing, whether you're hot, whether you're traveling,
whether you're outdoors, you need to stay hydrated. Just one
stick of Liquid IV and sixteen ounces of water hydrates
better than water alone. Liquid IV has three times the
electrolytes of the leading sports drinks and has eight essential
vitamins and nutrients and always on GMO vegan, gluten free,

(39:02):
dairy free, and soy free. Savor the last bits of
summer with liquid IV.

Speaker 2 (39:06):
Tear Poor, Live more.

Speaker 1 (39:08):
Go to liquid iv dot com and get twenty percent
off your first order with code busting at checkout. That's
twenty percent off your first order with code busting at
liquidiv dot com.

Speaker 2 (39:19):
Back to this episode.

Speaker 3 (39:20):
Oh yeah, make the invisible visible. You know what else?
Is one hour?

Speaker 1 (39:26):
This podcast? This podcast, this podcast, let's keep it going.
We are going to go to crack a cold one.
Crack a cold one, some some wins brought to us
by tell us liquid IV. Yes, liquid IV, I got
the what we got here, firecracker. Dads, you gotta stay
hydrated out there, have.

Speaker 5 (39:45):
To stay hydrated, especially these are the dog days of summer.
I know schools back in session, but it is technically
the dog days of summer.

Speaker 1 (39:52):
It is hot for the dads out there who are
football dads. This is the dog days of the season.
Because I hope you guys all, I had a great
time watching all the college football games over the weekend,
I did as well, and then I sit there and
recap and reflect on, like, you know, how do you

(40:12):
get better from the stot from the side of like
family and hubby.

Speaker 2 (40:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (40:16):
So, although I hope you enjoyed all your games, I
need you to watch tape. I need you to self
scout on how we can get better at home. Incorporating that,
I'm already thinking, like, Okay, if I tell you how
to get out for an afternoon, and look, you can't
get around the NFL's on Sunday, colleges on Saturday. The
NFL industry is trying to take over basically every day

(40:37):
of the week. Yeah, but if I'm gonna tell a
wife you to get out, I need to have a
game plan. I can I can keep ru at bay.
With Ru, I can affect the pocket, I can stop
the run. I can get her thrown outside the numbers.
I can get you disrupt her at the line of scrimmage.
I can do those things for Scottie. For scott Zilla,
she's a different little animal. I'm looking at the little

(41:00):
rugrats pins like, Okay, maybe you know, if I get
a little pan, throw some toys in there and kind
of just let her loose, so that way she's in
a vicinity.

Speaker 2 (41:07):
That's one.

Speaker 1 (41:07):
It's like, what is it. You can't stop them, you
can only hope to contain them.

Speaker 3 (41:11):
Yeah, that's scott Zilla.

Speaker 5 (41:13):
Yes, I was seeing those videos are rude with the
harmonica just being so sweet doing her harmonica thing. I
look in the background, mother in laws just hunched over
scott Zilla. Scott Zilla is like on a mini bar,
like trying to.

Speaker 3 (41:25):
Tear it a bar, Like, oh my god.

Speaker 2 (41:28):
That's my crackit.

Speaker 1 (41:28):
Cult one is we got this little harmonica and it
is the most adorable thing ever. She hits the A one, two,
three and she starts blowing in it. I'll send you
the video so that way we can play it on
the show. But dude, it is. It is adorable. So
that one, that's when I sit there, I'm smiling. It's
like I can crack a cold.

Speaker 2 (41:47):
That one.

Speaker 3 (41:47):
Also new friends at school there.

Speaker 1 (41:50):
We did like our first little like not parent teacher conference,
but something with so like you meet with the teachers
and kind of go over what they do in the classroom,
go through a day in the life of a kid
at the school. And so we got to meet a
few new parents and there's this one gentleman I met,
and I'll keep their names out of it.

Speaker 2 (42:05):
But they had just.

Speaker 3 (42:05):
Started that day. You made a new friend.

Speaker 1 (42:08):
I made a new friend, Oh wow, little dad friend
and exchange numbers or nothing. Okay, cool, play yeah plane
it cool and uh, but made friends with him. They
had just started that day, moved from the Northeast. That
was their day one of going to school.

Speaker 3 (42:21):
Oh wow.

Speaker 2 (42:22):
And her his daughter.

Speaker 3 (42:23):
Is in the same class, same age as Rue.

Speaker 1 (42:26):
So I go home and I'm talking to Rue about
this new friend and I'm like, oh, was it her
first day? And she said yeah. And I'm like, do
you feel like she was nervous or scared or anything.
She's like, I don't know. And I'm like, were you
nervous or scared your first and she's like yeah. I
was like when you see so and so tomorrow you
should go be like, hi, I'm Rue and ask her
to play and be friends with her and be really
kind to her because I'm sure she's really nervous and scared,

(42:48):
just like you were on the first day, and you
want to make her feel welcome. And ever since then,
each day she brings up this little this, uh, this
toddlers there, we played together and did this and that,
so they seem like their friends. So it like warms
my heart that Ruth's taking the practice tape and taking
it out to the game.

Speaker 5 (43:05):
This is literally we brought up Bluie before the episode.
That was the episode of Blue that watched over the weekend.

Speaker 2 (43:12):
How good is Blue? Buddy?

Speaker 3 (43:14):
I was so wrong. I have the coldest take like
episode one or two about Blue. I'm sorry, would you
say about Blue?

Speaker 2 (43:19):
Agan?

Speaker 5 (43:20):
I said, Oh, the kids are yelling at the dad
and the show. I don't know if I want my
kid watching that.

Speaker 3 (43:24):
What an Elle take? Yeah, it's a what a Baylor
versus auburn Elle.

Speaker 5 (43:31):
But to the point quickly, people hate what they don't understand.

Speaker 3 (43:35):
They do.

Speaker 2 (43:36):
People hate what they don't understand.

Speaker 5 (43:38):
Blue makes a new friend at the park. Guess who
the friend is with at the park. Their dad blues
with her dad and the dads start becoming friends as well.

Speaker 3 (43:48):
On the little part, it's a good show. It's a
good show.

Speaker 2 (43:51):
It's a good show.

Speaker 5 (43:52):
I'm glad that you that you made a new friend.
Is there a follow up plan? Where are you going
to hang out with this guy?

Speaker 2 (43:57):
Slow play play hard to get. I like that, you
know what I mean. I think next time we go
over shake hands.

Speaker 1 (44:02):
Hey, my daughter was telling me this bond over our
daughters being friends type angle.

Speaker 5 (44:07):
You know what I'm saying, And maybe just take the
blue route and just go little you know, parking out
date little parts.

Speaker 2 (44:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (44:14):
Matter of fact, we got to part parking out later today,
so we gotta keep the show under out.

Speaker 3 (44:18):
Oh okay, gotta keep on because it's it's Labor Day.
It is Labor day.

Speaker 2 (44:23):
Labor day as we record this.

Speaker 3 (44:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (44:25):
Hey, and by the way, I said last week that
if you guys wanted your you wanted stuff to be
potentially featured on the show, to comment within those first
forty eight hours.

Speaker 2 (44:34):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (44:35):
That was It was a little stressful going through all
the comments and screenshots that I have, like eight more
on here that I didn't get to because I'm thinking,
we don't have to. You know, we can't just sit
here and talk to YouTube comments. I wish we could,
I know, but thank you and Derek You've been crushing
and responding to everybody in YouTube. I was checking, I
was checking seeing all the replies. I see our a
little for the Dad's logo, but this has been our

(44:56):
most Last week was our most comment on episode.

Speaker 5 (44:58):
YEP, and twice sent Derek a tweet that was like, bro,
this would be great to engage with, and before I
said it, I didn't check to see if old Derek
had seen himself and engage with it. And both times
I looked like a fool because for the dads was
ride under that tweet. He's already engaged.

Speaker 1 (45:16):
He's one of those teammates where you might think you're
telling him something, but they've already picked up the pace
to where you're like, okay, I need to pick up
my shit and.

Speaker 3 (45:23):
Guess what he doesn't do oh, or he did it.
He would never you thumbs up one of them.

Speaker 5 (45:31):
And then I'm looking like it said, you know two
hours ago before the dad's I'm like, oh baby, big time,
he's on it.

Speaker 7 (45:36):
One thing I do want to say a lot of
the comments we're getting voicemails, there are some people who
get a little defeated if they don't see there's on
a show and feel like you guys aren't seeing them,
And so I'm making it my priority, no matter if
we talk it on the show or whatever it is.
Comments DMS voicemails, emails, Will and Sharan do see as
much as humanly possible. There's a lot of people who

(45:57):
are like, I don't know if Sharm's going to see this,
or I don't know if I will actually looks at
these these two just to confirm the community care so
much about you guys. Number one priority is getting those
in front of you. Just so you guys know, there
are people out there saying that we're getting as much
in front of you two as we can.

Speaker 1 (46:11):
Let go just on Derek saying that, just again because
we did all the comments at the top of the episode. Yeah,
and I didn't read any that Derek and I were
sitting here talking about going over butte shouting out Kylie Canter.
Not sure if Shermer will to your point, not sure
if Will Shermer will actually see these, but if so,
thank you guys for the podcast. You've really helped my

(46:31):
husband have a healthier mindset entering fatherhood. We're seven weeks
into the trenches with baby boy, and having the pot
has really helped him have a more positive outlook on
those two am diaper changes with the little heart emoji,
He's got me listened to each week and we both
thoroughly enjoy another one from Martha Byrne from Milk Team
six Milk Team six operator here, I'd like to issue

(46:53):
a Bravo Zulu to Shrham in one show for fully
indoctorating my husband into PT.

Speaker 2 (46:58):
Six.

Speaker 1 (46:58):
My favorite is when it's his turn to change a
blow out and all I hear upstairs is good Kennedy
dress line for BT sixers with a wife on the
pup list. Hey, I know the doctor said six to
eight weeks, but what is your orthodona say?

Speaker 2 (47:15):
He says?

Speaker 1 (47:17):
He says, it'll get a chuckle from your wife and
then you hit her with the you play your cards right,
Daddy'll mount you.

Speaker 5 (47:25):
Wait, I didn't tell you about my deployment of said
line last week?

Speaker 3 (47:30):
Did I know?

Speaker 5 (47:30):
I used the line and it got a big chuckle?
Just she was getting wifey in front of Joe. Oh yeah,
we're in the kitchen. She's kind of she's getting a
little bit of an attitude with me.

Speaker 3 (47:42):
Kind of reminded me she.

Speaker 1 (47:42):
Bend over and put a dish in the dishwasher and
you kind of give her a little hump.

Speaker 3 (47:47):
Dude, I was acting up.

Speaker 5 (47:50):
I was acting She's trying to like, kind of get
onto me because I'm not good in the kitchen and
I'm being goofy, and you know, her tones getting a
little more angry and stuff. I said, in the way
you're talking to me right now, I kind of like it,
and she gets she gets more angry. I said, there
you go. Yeah, and she that kind of broke her
and she started laughing. I said, you keep on talking

(48:10):
to me like that, daddy my mounta yet.

Speaker 2 (48:12):
Yeah, yes, sir, yes sir.

Speaker 3 (48:15):
And she chuckled. I didn't chuckle off the pup list.

Speaker 5 (48:21):
I here's okay. I knew that this was coming, and
I just want to say.

Speaker 1 (48:24):
I wasn't thinking until just now. Just to be full transparency.

Speaker 5 (48:28):
It's totally fine. I want to be respectful of my wife,
so I don't. Okay, but uh oh, not to change
the subject. Did I tell you six Flags over Texas?
Have you been to that theme park?

Speaker 2 (48:39):
Not to No, not six Flags.

Speaker 1 (48:42):
I've been to Chicago and Cincinnati six Flags when I
did a little a theme.

Speaker 2 (48:46):
Park tour, amusement park tour with my boy Logan back
in the day.

Speaker 5 (48:48):
Okay, there's a great ride there. It's called Shockwave. It's
been closed for like six eight weeks. We got to
ride it. Yeah, it's a lot of fun. Yay, it's
got two loops on it. It's a quick one. It's
a quick one that's got two loops on it.

Speaker 3 (49:03):
It's fun.

Speaker 2 (49:05):
It's a good So you hit Shockwave.

Speaker 3 (49:08):
Yeah, we wrote chalk Wave Die. It was great.

Speaker 2 (49:11):
Nice.

Speaker 5 (49:12):
It's a fun coaster. If you're on I thirty you
can see it. From I thirty, I'm picking up what
you're putting down.

Speaker 3 (49:16):
Come on, okay, cracking cold.

Speaker 2 (49:22):
You gotta keep this one under an hour.

Speaker 3 (49:24):
Did you already say your cold one? Oh?

Speaker 5 (49:27):
Just Scarlet over the weekend absolutely crushed it.

Speaker 3 (49:31):
She talked yet not yet, Yeah, takes a while.

Speaker 1 (49:34):
I keep on Scotty. All she says is dad, that dad,
Yeah she said. She says dad Dad for sure. All
she can say is dad dad, And I'll be like
da she made that Dada dad dad.

Speaker 3 (49:48):
Yeah, Yes, Scott.

Speaker 2 (49:56):
Bro she is squirrely.

Speaker 5 (49:58):
I've yet to interact with Scott. I gotta get around
Scotty and yeah, and we gotta get Scarlet in on
that energy.

Speaker 3 (50:05):
Like I want Scarlett to like kind of pick up
on that.

Speaker 2 (50:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (50:08):
If Scott Zilla rubbed some of that up off on Scarlett.

Speaker 3 (50:11):
I'm more than happy.

Speaker 5 (50:12):
Okay, but Scarlett, Scarlett's kind of her own little beast.
She's kind of killing it.

Speaker 2 (50:16):
Yeah, yeah, tell me more, tell us more. Beat six ers.

Speaker 3 (50:20):
Want to know, get sixers.

Speaker 2 (50:21):
Let me tell you what are we to? Nine weeks old?

Speaker 8 (50:26):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (50:27):
This will be right now? Her two month mark?

Speaker 5 (50:32):
Okay, yeah, her two month mark on the third, Okay,
let's go.

Speaker 3 (50:36):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (50:37):
So, the weekend was great. I told Chef and Derek
minus the Baylor game result, flawless weekend, truly flawless weekend.

Speaker 3 (50:49):
I told you.

Speaker 5 (50:50):
I told you on that text. I was like, it
was so refreshing. It was like Jill and I connecting
really well. We're doing all this fun stuff back in
our hometown. We're introducing Scarlett to all of our closest
friends and family. We took Scarlet to the Baylor game.
We made it all the way till the three minute
twenty second mark when Jackson Arnold put the nail on

(51:12):
the coffin, and I was like, all right, I gotta
get my baby girl back to the hotel room because
it was hot?

Speaker 2 (51:18):
Was it because she couldn't make it any more?

Speaker 3 (51:21):
Was it because the game was well? Game was.

Speaker 5 (51:25):
We were trying to be good parents and Jill was
wanting to go back and she was being very sweet
and Langley stay and once on that fourth and whatever
it was fourth and three and they scored. I was like, okay,
we can leave fair and I got one of those
little bike whatever they're called.

Speaker 3 (51:42):
Shout out those dude, shout out those bike whatever they're
calleds Man, you know what I'm talking about. The pedal bike.
The pedal bikes, they're like the little taxi drivers.

Speaker 1 (51:51):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, dude, we took that, buddy, Buddy, we.

Speaker 5 (51:56):
Took that from McClean stage. Oh, I fucked up. I
had a better dad loss, or not a better dad loss,
but I had another dad loss. But anyway, Scarlett was
my crackericle one. She killed it at the football game,
she killed it at the wedding. She killed it on
the flight.

Speaker 1 (52:16):
She hit the bottle on the way up the ascension,
hit the bottle right before takeoff, and she literally home.
That's for their ears. By the way, any new dad's
coming into beat six.

Speaker 3 (52:26):
That is for their ears.

Speaker 2 (52:27):
It's for their ears.

Speaker 1 (52:28):
Don't pop feeding the pop in the bottle as you're
taking off.

Speaker 5 (52:32):
I'm like super on the day I didn't, I like,
hardly slept before the Baylor game was truly butterflies. You
would have thought that I was playing in the game.

Speaker 2 (52:41):
Oh, I know what you're saying, bro.

Speaker 1 (52:43):
I was like, going into Husker Sinsey, I was like,
I have nothing to do with this game, but these
eighteen to twenty two year olds, I feel so emotionally
invested that I felt like I was playing, that I
felt like I had a thirty play third down call
she where I had to go over every check. Yes,
what if we go to empty? What if they motioned

(53:03):
it empty? What if they go from empty and back in?
Are we getting back to the original call? All these
things going to my head? Are am I going to
get exposed today? That I felt on game day as
a pro and in college, I felt that on.

Speaker 3 (53:16):
Just us playing the Cincinnati Bearcat.

Speaker 2 (53:18):
So I feel you, my.

Speaker 3 (53:18):
Friend couldn't just felt Yeah?

Speaker 1 (53:22):
And on the way to the stadium for the game,
I started to get tired. And that is exactly how
I would operate like even on game days for myself,
is you're just amp. You're trying to do all these things,
my little game day routine, study, habits everything, and then
we're taking the team bus over and for whatever reason,
I feel like a little sleepy. I feel like it
was like a big nerves thing.

Speaker 3 (53:42):
Yes, I had to go to Dutch Bros. Shout out
Dutch Bros.

Speaker 5 (53:45):
Yeah, and get a little Ice Americana with two espresso
shots right before the game. Yes, because I also was
feeling tired for no reason, because my heart was doing
this the entire y.

Speaker 1 (53:55):
This is it.

Speaker 3 (53:56):
I'm trying to rest Jill. I'm trying to get the
thing on Scarlet.

Speaker 5 (54:01):
We have like this black we bought a black one
for the blackout, uh whatever, the little chess mount and
I'm trying to rush it.

Speaker 3 (54:09):
Jill's like, you're you're gonna hurt her leg. You're rushing.
You're frustrated, You're trying to get to the game. You're
not taking your time and being sweet to Scarlet.

Speaker 2 (54:17):
Would you say to her?

Speaker 3 (54:18):
I literally I backed. I did not say bitch. I didn't.
I swallowed it.

Speaker 5 (54:26):
She's right, it doesn't matter if we're there kickoff because
they don't sell beer in there, and I know Jill
wants to have a good time and I want to
have a good time too.

Speaker 3 (54:35):
Crickets is right here.

Speaker 5 (54:36):
Off Franklin Street, one of my favorite bars back in
the college days. I'm gonna go introduce Jill to that.
We're gonna go get some drinks and then we'll take
one of those trolley bikes. I know those trolley bikes
come by crickets, and we'll take that to the game.

Speaker 3 (54:50):
Best decision I ever made.

Speaker 2 (54:51):
I love that.

Speaker 1 (54:52):
And you also reacted to what I said so quickly
that new listeners might be thinking, we call our wife's
bitch if they say something wrong.

Speaker 3 (54:58):
Oh, yeah, we don't, but we knew.

Speaker 1 (55:01):
Yeah no, no, I didn't call her a bit. I
did not call her what you say to her, we
do that thing that we always do where we call
our wife a bitch. I didn't do it at that time.

Speaker 5 (55:10):
No, what I did instead, what I did said I
was actually I was like nice for once, but oh dude,
it was great. And we only got in like two
minutes after kick. We only missed like the first drive.

Speaker 3 (55:24):
Which was fine. We scored a field goal on the
first ye.

Speaker 5 (55:28):
And then my shout out really quick. You follow them
on Instagram taking care of Babies. Yes, great, follow on Instagram.
That's the company that redid all the mom rooms at McLean.

Speaker 3 (55:42):
Stadium, no way. Yeah, And buddy, you want to.

Speaker 5 (55:47):
Talk about the trenches? Is that mom room? Dads are
allowed in it. When I walked in there, it was
a true war zone.

Speaker 3 (55:57):
It was unreal.

Speaker 5 (55:59):
I'll talk and like, mom's literally like breastfeeding. I'm like
walking in there, truly like eyes to the carpet because
I'm not trying to see anything right right. There was
some dad in there that a million percent told his wife,
I ain't gonna a fucking mom room. You can go
there by it, and she let him have it because
he was sitting there Indian style and the mom room

(56:20):
just rubbing her back with like.

Speaker 3 (56:23):
Wasn't even watching the TV.

Speaker 5 (56:24):
With the game on it in the thing, dude, it
is truly in hell, just rubbing her back with the
blankest stare, and she's just.

Speaker 3 (56:36):
I only looked for a second. I didn't see anything
but breastfeeding. He was rubbing her back.

Speaker 5 (56:42):
I was like, buddy, I feel you, buddy, Buddy, I
feel you. He was auburn tiger, so he had nothing
to be sad.

Speaker 1 (56:48):
That's the time where you need, like, we need just something.
The little pet sixpence you just throw. No, I wanted
to Yeah, lifeline.

Speaker 2 (56:57):
Yeah, hey, Bud good.

Speaker 5 (56:59):
You could tell the other moms in there when dads
would walk in, there was like a collective like anger
building of their husbands that dad could come. Why couldn't
you come?

Speaker 2 (57:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (57:12):
And then I'm feeling bad for my pt sixers out there.
I'm like, oh, no, they're gonna get it once she
gets back, because she's gonna be like, there were six
dads in there. Yeah, and guess he wasn't in there?
You your fat ass, But what are you talking about?
The fuck?

Speaker 2 (57:30):
I bet them dads ain't in there?

Speaker 5 (57:31):
Seven beer's d Was he wearing like a Was he
wearing one of them golf bosers him gave? If he
asked golf boss? I bet he was.

Speaker 2 (57:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (57:42):
By me, i'mnna want them gay dads. Was he a
biler guy? I bet he's butler won't he had polo?
Probably biler god? Unreal?

Speaker 2 (57:57):
Was he wearing a fainted pet.

Speaker 3 (58:01):
Todd as dreaming? You see his boots through his jeans.
That's another thing, dude, don't let your boots show through
your pant leg.

Speaker 2 (58:10):
Yeah, I've I've learned that the hard.

Speaker 5 (58:11):
I saw a lot of that going on this weekend,
kind of hurt the heart. And then I'm so sorry
I've been talking so much to wrap up the game.
I wasn't gonna bring this up, but I'm gonna bring
up on the pod because it actually is a funny story.
I have no animosity towards Wardamn Eagle Country, and I
think you guys played a fabulous game. And I love

(58:32):
Auburn fans and I have a lot of family there
Auburn Tigers.

Speaker 1 (58:36):
I'm glad you said because we have a huge audience.
It's a huge audience, that's all Auburn.

Speaker 3 (58:41):
So many people.

Speaker 5 (58:42):
Hitting me up on Twitter said hey gg gs, Pat Safford,
sorry we had to do it to you, Wardamn. But
there were these two guys that were borderline blackout drunk
and Jill and I seeds and I think it was
my first time having to be a dad and step

(59:04):
up to handle a situation, and things.

Speaker 3 (59:06):
Got dicey for a second.

Speaker 2 (59:09):
Please go on.

Speaker 5 (59:11):
So I show up to the seats and they're in
our seats and it is crammed. I mean, this game
is packed, and I say, hey, I'm fourteen and fifteen,
where their butts are seats fourteen and fifteen. Oh yeah, Well,
Mike groom forty minute, they like skewed a little bit.
I'm like, okay, Bleacher, Yeah, I'm like all right, and

(59:32):
so I don't say anything.

Speaker 3 (59:33):
Jill's not really picking up on it.

Speaker 5 (59:36):
There was a non call pass interference call that was
very viral on Twitter that was in the end zone
right in front of me.

Speaker 3 (59:43):
I go, what was that? Very loudly because I was
upset in.

Speaker 5 (59:48):
My home turf and for the rest of the game, dude,
when Baylor would mess up, this little dude on my shoulder,
drunk as a skunk is bumping me and going what
the hell.

Speaker 3 (01:00:00):
Dude, Auburn's some passive fears every.

Speaker 5 (01:00:03):
Play, dude, man like, well, just trying to get my head.
But he's like bumping me and I'm bumping Jill, and
so Jill's like, you gotta do something, like you have
to say time to step up, dad, And I was like,
I gotta be a fucking dad in this moment.

Speaker 2 (01:00:19):
Time to be a Papa Seal.

Speaker 5 (01:00:21):
And I slowly turned over him and I said, hey,
what's your ticket for?

Speaker 3 (01:00:26):
Like, where are your seats? And he goes, what, dude, what?
I was like, where are your seats?

Speaker 5 (01:00:31):
Cause we're fourteen and fifteen and you're sitting in fourteen
and fifteen. They're like our cousin's in the band or
cousins in the band?

Speaker 2 (01:00:39):
Dude, what are.

Speaker 3 (01:00:40):
You talking about?

Speaker 5 (01:00:40):
I was like, well, you're bumping into me and I'm
hitting my two month old baby right there, and you're
in my seats.

Speaker 3 (01:00:48):
I don't care.

Speaker 5 (01:00:48):
If you're cheering for Auburn, that is fine, and you
can make fun of Baylor, that's okay. But once you
start bumping me and now I'm bumping my girl and
she's holding our little scarlet, and it all worked itself out,
it got a little dicey. I had to stop talking
because they started mouthing off. And then some Auburn fans
kind of got in the mix and helped us a
little bit. They were seats like twenty eight and twenty nine.

Speaker 3 (01:01:11):
They're like a mile away. They're in the wrong seats.

Speaker 2 (01:01:14):
Did they get up and go?

Speaker 3 (01:01:15):
Yeah, we got all figured out. They got a little
dicey there. I'm sorry.

Speaker 5 (01:01:21):
I just talked for a very long time. You go, no,
I just talked way too long.

Speaker 2 (01:01:28):
I'm not sitting here waiting on my turn to talk.
I'm listening to your story.

Speaker 1 (01:01:31):
Yeah, I'm thinking, I don't know if I enjoy how
you just ended that story. I know like I needed to.
I need to feel that your presence is actually there.
See you keep bumping in me. There's gonna be a problem.

Speaker 3 (01:01:46):
So the girl, okay, so the girlfriend, I'll go, there's
gonna be an issue right now.

Speaker 1 (01:01:51):
You can fill the rest of the gaps with your
own imagination. I'm thinking, you know, maybe Jill said something
to him.

Speaker 5 (01:01:58):
You just sat there, Okay, so Jill said you need
to say that part that she said you need to
say something. So I started it like, hey, be a man, yes,
and I stepped in. But I was going with I
was going, like with the smart ass thing because I'm like, buddy,
you're in my fucking seat. Like I was being nice
at first, but now you're just a drunk.

Speaker 3 (01:02:18):
Asshole in my seat. There we go, where are we doing?

Speaker 5 (01:02:21):
And uh, He's like, I mean our cousins in the
band and we're like we're trying to watch you.

Speaker 3 (01:02:26):
I get it you. I think your baby's really cute. Dude,
I'm sorry, blah blah blah, and I go, yeah, but
all of that, you're in my seat. You're in my seat,
and he's like.

Speaker 5 (01:02:34):
Giving me all these excuses, and at the end of
each of one of his excuses, I'm like, yeah, but
you're in my seat. And then his girlfriend tried to
step in and be like, wait, if it's such.

Speaker 3 (01:02:44):
A problem, we'll move.

Speaker 5 (01:02:45):
We'll move if it's such a problem, and then Jill
darts out with Scarlet. It's like, we're here with our
two month old and your friend is bumping into us
and bumping into our baby and they're not even in
the right seats. And then that's when like people start
coming in to be like, yeah, like get like so Jill,

(01:03:06):
Jill did it.

Speaker 3 (01:03:07):
Yeah, she had the finishing, She had the finishing.

Speaker 1 (01:03:09):
Just mess with you, bro, but it you should have
hit him with I don't care if your cousins on
the goddamn fields.

Speaker 5 (01:03:14):
Right now, But dude, he would have. He would have
started some ship. He was drunk enough.

Speaker 2 (01:03:22):
He was all right, this is a.

Speaker 1 (01:03:23):
Kids showed to be out there like just.

Speaker 2 (01:03:27):
Violence.

Speaker 3 (01:03:27):
Some dad's taking those match And then he said this good. Yeah,
we're sitting at home on Twitter.

Speaker 6 (01:03:33):
It's you know, Baylor Bear fan gets a fight all
two months old, and is that just.

Speaker 3 (01:03:38):
Looking literally as I like clocked out. Once they started moving.

Speaker 5 (01:03:42):
They were like chatting the whole time, like turning around
being like, hey, don't sit next to him. He'll have
a problem with you. Blah blah blah, and like making
a scene and I'm just saying him. I had him like,
please no, when be filming this, please know what?

Speaker 3 (01:03:55):
Sure?

Speaker 6 (01:03:56):
Like?

Speaker 2 (01:03:56):
Sureman?

Speaker 1 (01:03:56):
They like say something back to Sherman. Sherman just sitting
with you. Don't want to see me angry.

Speaker 5 (01:04:03):
And I'm not intimidating at all. I'm not intimidating at all.

Speaker 1 (01:04:07):
All right, We're gonna take another quick potty break to
bring you True Classic. The boys are sponsored by True Classic.
Look at my man, shure him over there. Everybody keeps
saying fat Stafford, buddy, you look stacked.

Speaker 5 (01:04:19):
I didn't want to say it. I didn't want to
say talking to the mic, I didn't want to say it.
And again apologies for not speaking to the mic. But
Fat Stafford's looking good.

Speaker 2 (01:04:29):
Looking like stack Stafford. Baby.

Speaker 1 (01:04:31):
Hey boys, you want a better shot at Mount and
your wife out there. You're throwing a True Classic tea.
I know Jilly Bean was watching you walk around the
house last night. Hey, shirm dog boss man. Yeah, you've
been working out.

Speaker 3 (01:04:46):
Oh honey, you know I haven't been working out.

Speaker 2 (01:04:48):
What are you? Something about you looks different?

Speaker 3 (01:04:50):
Oh, it's just we're sponsored by this T Street company,
True Classic. I'm wearing one right now.

Speaker 5 (01:04:55):
This is a True Classic tea and it hugs me
in all the right places. It situates, hides that little tummy.
It's got fat Stafford looking good.

Speaker 2 (01:05:03):
Baby.

Speaker 1 (01:05:03):
I'm gonna go put Scarlett down for a minute. You
can tackle me in the bedroom. How about that?

Speaker 3 (01:05:07):
I would love to. Maybe.

Speaker 2 (01:05:10):
Here's the cool part.

Speaker 1 (01:05:12):
True Classic just launched a boys line for those boy
dads out there. You can match, and honestly, it's way
better than those awkward family photo outfits and cheesy pajamas.
You get to show up together, feel comfortable, and actually
look good doing it. The crazy thing is True Classic
has already sold over twenty five million shirts to more

(01:05:33):
than five million customers with over two hundred thousand and
five star reviews. So I am definitely not the only
dad who's figured this out. Sureman's not the only dad
who has figured this out. You can find them at Amazon, Target,
Select Costco, and Sam's Club locations, or just head to
True Classic dot com slash for the dads, trust me,
grab one and you'll thank me later.

Speaker 3 (01:05:54):
Jealous that the boy dad's got the boys line.

Speaker 5 (01:05:56):
Coming, jealus jealous three classic dot com slash.

Speaker 3 (01:06:01):
For the dad, slash for the dad's potty breakover.

Speaker 1 (01:06:04):
Back to the episode, should go survival kit, Yes, quick
one webbin' u's I think I might've shout at him
out before. But again, Scotty's having a great time with
her little lama webbin ups. She's got a little moosy,
she's got deer, and she's got lama. She loves them all.
I cannot subscribe to the webbing up culture enough. You
know you've heard of Tygi Tige. You know the lure
of tiger. Yes, you get webbinops. They got the little

(01:06:27):
passy on the end. They might get weathered, they might
lose the passy. That'll be their little stuffy for life.
So webbing ups, that's my survival kit. Is something to
have in the kit if you're going to become a
new father. You got a little one right now. Webbing us,
they're the way to go. Love webbing ups. We have
two rolling into my dad hat.

Speaker 3 (01:06:43):
Please.

Speaker 1 (01:06:44):
So we were on the road obviously with Arrowhead and
Ohio State.

Speaker 2 (01:06:48):
When we were at Ohio State.

Speaker 1 (01:06:49):
It's Lee Corso's final game, right doing the last mascotthead
that's sound. There were a lot of different mascots at
the game celebrating lead course. So I'm thinking to myself,
I have to get a photo with each one of
these mascots so I can go home and show Rue.
So my dad hacks just shouting out taking photos with mascots.

Speaker 3 (01:07:07):
No God to travel.

Speaker 1 (01:07:10):
I wanted to travel because I wanted to get photos
with with mascots, some of your favorite animals, you know.
I got with the Clemson Tiger, brutish, the buck guy. Uh,
the West Virginia what's there?

Speaker 3 (01:07:21):
The mountaineer, the mountaineer cat. Was it Kansas State?

Speaker 2 (01:07:26):
It might not have been, uh will It couldn't have
been West Virginia.

Speaker 1 (01:07:29):
They were holding the Pat McAfee like he was like young,
like a young picture of McAfee.

Speaker 2 (01:07:33):
So I just thought it was like West Virginia. Oh, okay,
were they.

Speaker 6 (01:07:38):
No?

Speaker 1 (01:07:39):
It was a cat. I'm off, but either way, there's
a cat. Got one with the tiger, got one with
the buck guys, the.

Speaker 3 (01:07:45):
Duck, organ duck, got the organ? Yeah? I got to
because Rue has this massive fear of mascots. Oh no, yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:07:52):
Whenever I took her to the Vanderbilt game, she was
very scared of the common commonwards.

Speaker 3 (01:07:57):
A little spooky.

Speaker 1 (01:07:58):
Yeah, but there was also they're playing Texas longhorns and
the long horn was there. But she was a little
nervous scared of the mascots. So it's always been a thing.

Speaker 2 (01:08:05):
Yeah, come home and show where.

Speaker 1 (01:08:07):
Mascots are nice. Mascots are good people. Yeah, kind even
though they're wearing the big head. Yeah, like they're good people.
They're quality people. Good family, great, great, great family. I said, wow,
look at these mascots. Oh wow, those are good, very
nice masks and Duck, very good mascot, great family, equax.

Speaker 3 (01:08:26):
He does quiet.

Speaker 1 (01:08:27):
Oh that's why Dad hack thake photos of mascots.

Speaker 2 (01:08:30):
Show the kiddos when you get home.

Speaker 5 (01:08:31):
I love that quick survival kitten that hack for myself.
You have the survival kit, mom Cozy bottle brush kit
that came in handy this trip. It's basically just a
on the go It's the brush with a squirt nozzle
so you can put any soap that you'd like.

Speaker 3 (01:08:50):
To use to wash yourself.

Speaker 2 (01:08:53):
Buddy.

Speaker 5 (01:08:54):
It was very quick, like you get through that. That
that that also shout out graasy dude.

Speaker 3 (01:09:00):
We were bumping some of her songs.

Speaker 1 (01:09:01):

we started the pie and we were just we were
viving before the show started.

Speaker 3 (01:09:07):

Speaker 5 (01:09:10):
She's got it. Whatever it is, she's got it. Dad
Hack chat GBT story time, Dude, I did it for
the first time. Write a story about Scarlet and her
mom Jill, and her dad Sherman, and how she wants
to be up in the stars tonight because the stars
are so bright.

Speaker 3 (01:09:29):
Boom.

Speaker 5 (01:09:30):
I said, make sure it's four minutes long, five minutes long,
and it was the best story of all time. I
was like, I'm gonna be doing this all the time.

Speaker 2 (01:09:39):
Oh my god, dude, that's a great dad Hack. Thank you.

Speaker 1 (01:09:44):
I've never even thought about that. My wife will hate it.
She for whatever reason, just hates Jedge. She hates the
AI stuf. She's like, that's fine, she's smart, she can
write very well. She's like, you know, one of them,
you got embrace the game. It's the game.

Speaker 3 (01:09:57):
It's the game.

Speaker 2 (01:09:58):
Maybe it's the game.

Speaker 3 (01:10:00):
Sounds like Charles got game of her own, some natural ability.

Speaker 1 (01:10:03):
Yeah, she'd be like will Willie one shelf, Why don't
you challenge yourself to write a story, sweetheart?

Speaker 3 (01:10:09):
I would love to, but that'll take me days. Has
she been calling you Willy one shelf? No, that's good Jill.

Speaker 1 (01:10:15):
She's laughed at a couple because obviously Willy one shelf
and the fat Stafford stuff is taken on us.

Speaker 3 (01:10:19):
I was about to say, Jill sent me a couple
of fat Stafford ones. She thinks it's funny.

Speaker 6 (01:10:23):
Yeah, Shirm cad real quick, yes to Shirm's ai thing.
My uncle showed this to me because we have really
young cousins that he made this for her. You can go,

an actual like storytime book, upload your picture Charles picture
ruined Scott believe in, and make like an actually will

(01:10:45):

which I thought was like insane when I saw.

Speaker 5 (01:10:55):
Your boy Nick sent me that. The what he just said,
he just said, shout out your boy Nick.

Speaker 3 (01:11:01):
Shout out Nick would slowly kind of becoming my boy neck.

Speaker 2 (01:11:05):
Hey, Nick is the home bro.

Speaker 3 (01:11:07):
He's so sick, he's.

Speaker 2 (01:11:08):

I just want to apologize to the Huskers out there
that I put on the Braska MINEU six and a half.
They did not cover it, they did not hit. I
think there's a lot of optimism coming out of Lincoln
right now.

Speaker 5 (01:11:49):
But my apologies hey, and I don't apologize because I
technically only said smash that over on the Baylor Auburn game.

Speaker 3 (01:11:55):

I believe last week Dad lost, I was talking about
morning routines. He I mean, we use a sticker chart
to help get the kids ready in the morning. If
they fill it up to get a little toy. Also
a survival tip, keep an extra Roku remote. Hitting toddlers
love to walk off or lose the remotes. Nothing is
worse than getting the kids already asleep ready to watch
a game and this then spend the next fifteen minutes
looking for the remote. But I love the sticker chart,

(01:13:22):
Dad Hack, love the support. I know people were in
the comments kind of helping your boy out with the
morning routine stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:13:28):

Speaker 4 (01:16:45):
Hey, well, Inshtern, this is Aaron not You're ideal target audience.
I'm not married, no kids, I'm obviously a female male,
but really just wanted to take the time to say you, guys,
is love for your children, your daughters especially well you
only have daughters, but I'm flumbling is just so encouraging.

(01:17:07):
I'm calling because I have the best girl dad in
the whole entire world, and just yeah, that's all I mean.

Speaker 3 (01:17:15):
It honestly makes me emotional.

Speaker 4 (01:17:17):
But to hear you guys, speak so excitingly of your
girls and just the future that they have. I mean,
my dad's had the biggest impact on me just in
sports specifically. I mean, I think we spend every single
Saturday on the couch watching every single game from eleven
am to eleven pm. Just the relationship with him, but
the relationship we've had with sports has me as a
twenty three year old working in the sports industry because

(01:17:38):
of him, and it's just really really special, and I
just I think it's awesome what you guys are doing
with this platform and the love you have for your girls.
So thanks for being awesome girl, dads, and just know
your influence is so strong because my dad's my favorite
person in the whole entire world, and I hope your
girls feel the same for years and years and years
to come.

Speaker 3 (01:17:57):
Keep it up.

Speaker 4 (01:17:58):
I've watched every single episode on When Say Again, not
your target audience, but you got something going and it's
great and you're y'all are awesome.

Speaker 1 (01:18:05):
So dude, that's awesome. You can't tell right now? Your boy, Yeah,
you got water in the eyes too. That's I think
that's every girl's dad dream right there. He's your daughter
talking about you.

Speaker 2 (01:18:16):
Like that. That's good.

Speaker 3 (01:18:20):
Bud Ah Brady the hard ball playing right now. Don't
to me.

Speaker 5 (01:18:30):
She brought the whole damn house down. She brought the
whole house down. We got Tyler Pruitt in Bulldog Country
go Dolls calling on the way to the hospital. And
I got this girl that I've never met in my
life making me cry. What the hell?

Speaker 1 (01:18:45):
Not even a parent just want to call in and
show love because she has a a great girl.

Speaker 2 (01:18:50):
Dad.

Speaker 3 (01:18:50):
I can't even talk about it.

Speaker 5 (01:18:52):
Crazy, I can't even talk about it. Wow, thank you
so much for calling in, Like, yeah, thank you, that's crazy.

Speaker 2 (01:19:02):
That's cool. Man.

Speaker 3 (01:19:04):
I want to talk about it, but I can. I'm
gonna I'll start crying.

Speaker 2 (01:19:07):
I know.

Speaker 1 (01:19:08):
It's like the water started to fill my eyes. Every
Saturday watch his ball like she's in the sports industry
and shot.

Speaker 3 (01:19:18):
I will say this. I won't cry saying this. Shout
out her dad, Shout out her dad. He's for sure
a PT sixer, he's a legend.

Speaker 2 (01:19:27):
And your daughter's twenty three.

Speaker 1 (01:19:28):
This isn't somebody you know, I know for myself in
their thirties, with such like retrospect on what your parents
did for you, that those types of words are coming
out now. Yeah, and when you're like older, really this
is twenty three, yeah, like fresh out of college.

Speaker 2 (01:19:49):
And knowing how good of a dad she has.

Speaker 5 (01:19:52):
I don't feel I'm not saying this for like, oh sureman,
you are desert, but like I don't feel deserving of
that type of phone call. That's crazy, that's so kind,
that's unreel.

Speaker 2 (01:20:03):
Because she's twenty three.

Speaker 1 (01:20:04):
It's like that like Greu's only three right now. I
you hope in twenty years that's how she's talking about
her old man.

Speaker 5 (01:20:12):
Yes, I'm like we I won't lump you in there.
I'm an idiot on here talking about goom berets and
roadshock wave and being a goofball and there's something twenty
three year old that's like these guys are great.

Speaker 3 (01:20:27):
That's talking about mountain or white. You play your cards right,
Daddy's gonna mount you and we're good.

Speaker 8 (01:20:35):
Dad.

Speaker 3 (01:20:36):
I'll take it.

Speaker 1 (01:20:37):
I'll take absolutely, gotta catch you, gotta catch you to
catch it for ball and hold it.

Speaker 3 (01:20:43):
And you know what we are like that.

Speaker 5 (01:20:45):
The mission statements has it perfectly. We're just messing up
along the way, but we're trying. Yeah, we're trying let's
get to our lesson. I brought that.

Speaker 1 (01:20:53):
I brought out the old the Daily Dad from Ryan Holiday.
To me, this is a staple that all dad should have.
You don't have to sit here and agree with every
page and everything that's written on here. But there is
a lot of quality, a lot of good stuff. I
was reading on a part last week. This is August
twentieth and is titled Encourage the Dream. It's not that

(01:21:15):
parents don't believe in their kids. It's that they know
the world is hard. They know that the odds are long,
and most of all, nobody wants harm or crushing disappointment
to come to their children. That's why we discouraged them
from dropping out, from trying to make it as a musician,
from quitting their job to start a company.

Speaker 2 (01:21:31):
We're just worried.

Speaker 1 (01:21:33):
Will Ferrell, one of the greatest comedic actors of all time,
as we've talked about, certainly challenge his parents in this way.
You're going to become a sketch comedium what Even his father,
a working musician, had reservations about his pursuing such an uncertain,
unstable career. Thankfully he caught himself before Will came down
for advice, putting his very natural, understandable worries on the

(01:21:55):
back burner.

Speaker 2 (01:21:57):
Roy Lee Farrell led.

Speaker 1 (01:21:58):
With support and you know what, I think you have
the skill, but it takes a lot of luck. If
you don't make it, don't worry about it. You can
just try something else. Roy Lee was communicating to Will
from his own hard won experience, just how hard and
unlikely success was in one of those much dreamed of
career fields. He was saying, you're talented and I believe

(01:22:21):
in you, but it's going to be really hard, so
hard that if it doesn't work, you have to understand
that it's just a reflection on the industry and not
on you as a person. That is an incredible gift
to give your children permission to try, along with permission
to fail, the signal that you'll support them either way,
that nothing changes based on the path they choose, the

(01:22:42):
heights they reach, or the marks they fall short of.
Encourage the dream. Thank you, Ryan Holiday, Daily Dad, shout
out to Daily Dad. A lot of great lessons, a
lot of great stuff in here. Three hundred and sixty
six meditations. I know I said this in the first
episode on parenting, Love and raising great kids, and that's
some bangers read.

Speaker 2 (01:23:04):
No, I don't read at all. This is a book
that sits. It doesn't happen every day.

Speaker 1 (01:23:09):
I'm not going to sit here and tell you I
am perfect at reading this book every day. But it's
a book that sits on our dining room table. Our
dining table every day because we we eat dinner as
a family every day that we possibly can.

Speaker 2 (01:23:24):
And as we're eating.

Speaker 1 (01:23:25):
I usually read a page on the day of Yeah,
and it's okay to skip a you know, if you miss,
if you're not home for a couple of days, or
you're out on the road and you miss, just pick
open the book and go to the date that the
date that you're on.

Speaker 2 (01:23:38):
I don't worry about catching up, just read.

Speaker 5 (01:23:40):
Yes, I feel like that that type of book is
a really good gateway drug for somebody that's trying to
get addicted to reading.

Speaker 3 (01:23:47):
Yeah, those little daily it's an easy read.

Speaker 5 (01:23:50):
Yes, very much like the Coach I already forgot the
title of that book, but the one Coaches Playbook, Coaches Playbook.

Speaker 3 (01:23:56):
Coaches Playbook that your old man Papa Shroom gave us.

Speaker 5 (01:23:58):
Yes, I do we have time that I do my lesson. Yeah,
it's very God.

Speaker 2 (01:24:03):
Do we have time? That question is for you.

Speaker 3 (01:24:05):
It's very quick.

Speaker 2 (01:24:06):
Yes, we had time.

Speaker 3 (01:24:07):
Okay, we have time. Okay. I read the last week.

Speaker 2 (01:24:09):
People loved it.

Speaker 3 (01:24:10):
Let's go.

Speaker 2 (01:24:11):
People loved it.

Speaker 3 (01:24:12):
Lest emotional. I will not cry, and I'm not going
to quote a move. We'll see if you don't grow Okay,
all right?

Speaker 5 (01:24:18):
So I wrote this on the plane on the way
back from Texas.

Speaker 3 (01:24:23):
I wrote this. Sorry you wrote this. I read this.

Speaker 2 (01:24:26):
Let's go. Man.

Speaker 5 (01:24:27):
After spending this past weekend in my hometown in Fort Worth,
I realized there is something special about home and family
that will never fade with age. Pulling up to my
mom's house and seeing her car in the driveway, my
dad in the living room window with his dog stage
the Texas game is already on the screen. My parents
ordered takeout from one of our favorite family restaurants that

(01:24:49):
we used to take that they used to take us
to as kids. I'm safe and happy and instantly feel
a nap coming on as I sit down on the
living room sofa. After catching up in kitchen with mom
and dad. Even driving through where I grew up in
Alito and seeing the old places I know and love,
I find so much comfort in the memories I've made
with family and friends and how those places, things, and

(01:25:12):
people shaped me into the person I am today.

Speaker 3 (01:25:15):
I cannot wait.

Speaker 5 (01:25:17):
To pass along the same experience to Scarlett our little unit,
finding our favorite restaurants, Her walking into her parents' home
and instantly recognizing the smells, Her excited to bring friends
over to share in our home experience, her seeing me
waving in the living room window looking like a goofball
with our family dog. I am overwhelmed with the excitement

(01:25:40):
for the opportunity to build her nostalgia bank of memories.
I can't wait to provide her the family slash home
that my parents provided me.

Speaker 3 (01:25:51):
DINNI kra bitch. That was so good. What would you
hate it with that?

Speaker 1 (01:26:00):
