Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, welcome to Busting with the Boys football weekend
recap or we talk NFL, we talk College. We have
coach Marcus Freeman joining this this episode this show, as always,
we are brought to you by and sponsored by the
number one sportsbook in America, proudly the FanDuel Sports Book.
There are two games and night, Texans against the Seahawks,
(00:21):
and we've got a nice one on here, the Buccaneers
versus the Detroit Lions. Now, one thing Fanda loves to
do is give you options. You can decide your own fate,
you can pick your own adventure, you can choose your
own reward. Fandel is giving all customers a choice of
either one thirty percent same game Parlay profit boost token
or two twenty five percent live profit boost tokens. So
(00:44):
maybe you'll take the thirty percent pe PBT and ride
with us, because we've got a solid same game parlay
for you guys to tail every Monday night that gives
anytime touchdown Rashan White anytime touchdown, Baker Mayfield over two
hundred twenty five passing yards and Jared Golf over two
hundred and twenty five pass and yards. Or maybe you'll
take the two live profit boost tokens and cook up
(01:05):
a next drive, same game parlay. I am obsessed with
these boys betting live game, betting next drives. Who somebody
might catch a ball? Catch your pass? You get a
running back for five or ten plus yards? Is it
going to be a field goal, punt or a touchdown?
If you think you'll know what happened on the next drive,
wait it, It'll end in a touchdown, punt, field goal.
Open the app, stack some player of props and build
your bet exactly how you want. Just had tofanduel dot
(01:28):
com slash busting to download the app and get started.
A heavy on the Lions, heavy on the line, heavy
on Lions, and I you know my uh, I'm sorry
about the falcons.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
Yeah that hey, and you know what happened exactly what
we talked about with the penetrating defense.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
I didn't get to watch it. I can't wait to
watch it.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
The guy that will, well, I'll have to watch the
entire film. But the game itself defensive line pressure because
when you're going side to size and offensive linement and
there's a four to three like, you have to be
super tight with your your landmarks. When you're running off
the ball. It didn't look like they ran as much
like Wanda and these outside zone eleven. They weren't eleven
a lot, but it seemed like they were more or
(02:19):
less like split zone type thing. And then that linebacker
that took over for Fred Warner too, did his best
Fred Warner impression. Was literally out there like the Grim Reaper, stalking, stalking, stalking,
firing in there.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
Which that fires me up, dude. I even saw him
in a postgame pressure saying he did hear all the noise,
he felt a certain way about it. He showed up.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
I mean, thea that for the Falcons that you were
hype on last week played pretty well.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
Again, Lli, he's a good player.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
He had a pick, had a sack.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
Yeah, dude, he's a good Player's a good player.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
They It just goes like Kyle Shanahan needs to be
coach of the Year, and I don't think it's it's
really close at this point, Like there's nobody in the
league doing more the less. He's got injuries all over
the place. He's he's missing both of his defensive stars
and leaders. He's missing essentially everybody on his offensive side
of the ball. Other than CMC. They just got back
George Kittle, but like starting quarterbacks out, he just pay
(03:14):
two hundred seventy million dollars. You're missing multiple wide receivers.
Juwan Jennings played, but it's like it doesn't matter who
is there. Kyle Shanahan and his offense that he is running,
they can literally be anybody in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
Currently only third, Yeah, so.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Who's who's above him?
Speaker 1 (03:30):
Todd Bowles? I mean if they win to night like
what they've been doing with look at a coach Rabels.
Speaker 5 (03:37):
Second at plus three fifty, Shane Steichen the Colts plus one.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
Another great one. I just think, like when I look
at Todd Bowles and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, my brain
doesn't go to coaching very well. Could or could? It
goes to Baker Mayfield as having an incredible year and
he is literally putting this team on his shoulders to
elevate his team. When I look at the forty nine ers,
I guess it's when your quarterback goes out and it's like,
(04:04):
who are you going to be? Shanahan has adapted his
offense in a way that I don't see really any
other coach doing. Rabel I like as well. But it's like, yeah,
Drake May's got a lot of confidence and he's playing
with like a lesser talented team than the rest of
the league. But I still give Kyle Shanahan like the
nod at this point.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
I don't think you're wrong in saying that, just because
he even said it in his presser after the game.
But you have to win a certain way if you're
the Niners, and it's got to be a collective with
special teams, defense, offense, the game plan, if you're going
to control the ball or whatever, whatever the keys are,
you need all three phases to be in sync. And
so it is. It's like it's a typical captain because
(04:43):
he's been like he's been, Uh he's been He's has
been as creative as anybody on winning games a certain way,
especially when they are absolutely counted out. Yeah, versus the
teams that they're playing, the Rams Falcons, Like, uh yeah,
he's been balling.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
And it's also a lot of credit needs to given
to CMC as well, Christian McCaffrey. Last year he had
both of those calves going on there. People a lot
of people like just logic would sit there and go, Okay,
This is probably the beginning of the end of the
Christian McCaffrey. We used to see him before, but since
these injuries have taken place, the one thing that has
stayed kind of true is Christian McCaffrey in the backfield
and he has taken on a heavy load. Like in
(05:21):
the backfield catching the ball screens.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
He was the best player on the field. Yes, say
people talking about Jon Robins. I want to say it
was set on ESPN, but the uh, this is this
is the Saquon Barkley of this year. Yeah, like this
is somebody who's MVP caliber everything else. It's like CMC
was the best player on the field right.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
Today, the best player on the field by far. I mean,
you can't take what Bijeon still had himself. You see
what Bijeon is to that offense. But that offense is
at full capacity. They have their starting offensive line, they
have their wide receivers and everything, and Bijeon just happens
to be so good. It's like, regardless of all these
weapons we have, whether it's Pitts or London or whoever,
we got this guy that we can put in motion
(05:57):
and you know, keep him off the ball for five
yards and just throw it over to him on the
sideline and have two guys block kind of and have
a make three guys miss and get seven yards.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
They were talking about that during the broadcast of the
game last night that in the off season Beijon hit
up CMC just to pick his brain. They worked out together,
but really to focus on that route running as a receiver,
and so it was cool to see them compare the
two and then CMC still kind of like edge him
out a little bit of like I got this, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
Yeah, mister Miyagi still has some juice in the tank
there a little bit when it came to be Jean Robinson.
Speaker 6 (06:30):
Christian McCaffrey is number six in the NFL in receiving
yards and number eleven in rushing yards.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
That is, he's having.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
He's having a vintage Christian McCaffery year right now. No
one's really talking about No one's really talking about the
four Nights with a five and one, right, five and two? Yeah,
excuse me, they're five. They're five and two. I mean
they lost the first game of the year against Seattle.
It's when all the injuries really took place. That game.
You lose like five or six guys. But Shanahan and
I go back to that Thursday night football game against
(06:57):
the Rams where you have like offensive genius versus all
it's a genius. And that to me is when I
was like, this is this needs to be coach of
the Year. And I really started like kind of fumigating
my brain a little bit because it's what they're doing
over there in San Francisco is special.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
Yeah, Kyle Shannan's daughter escorting him off the field. We
have one from Zobo Fox show Tier Talk this being
a girl dad makes someone a better coach, Absolutely.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
No question about it. Person the pudding right now.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
Yeah, arguably the best coaches are all girl dads.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
Arguable arguable having girls push you into coaching.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
Dude, I can't honestly, it's culture good. Yeah, I'm beside
myself on thinking people that might be calling them overrated.
You're seeing in the media a lot last week we
would do that watched and you know they haven't watched them.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
You know what. I hate. I hate that for you.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Yes, we're not gonna throw nobody, We're not.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
We're not gonna do anything o that, but just know,
and I want the public to know that I hated
for you. I hated for you, and it might not
be the context of what you're thinking of right now,
because it is true, dude. The Colts, Daniel Jones, Jonathan Taylor,
that offensive line. You even see Quentin Nelson having himself
a little juice in la s. Jenny's coming off the field,
He's doing the little spin, getting the crowd hyped up
(08:17):
for all the Colts fans that are actually there. But buddy,
they don't miss right now. Their play action incredible under center, amazing.
Jonathan Taylor can find a hole even when there's not
a hole. Good news is there's always a hole because
that offensive line is playing an elite level. And then
that defensive line, who have been kind of quiet for
the whole year, they get themselves in the mix. They
start putting pressures on Justin Herbert. Yeah, there's been a
(08:39):
lot of guys that have been injured both tackles or
I think they're on their like eighteenth and nineteen tackle
at this point. But the Colts took advantage of a situation.
They saw where the injuries were, and they took advantage
of that, and they put pressures on those book ends.
And it really paid off for them, really paid off
for them. My LA Chargers pick is not looking good
right now. I like to go on record saying if
there were no injuries a lot, if we turn that off,
(09:01):
I think it'll be looking pretty good right now.
Speaker 6 (09:03):
Herberts Herbert is number one in passing yards in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
Which is insane. He's number one to pass.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
Yeah, threw a bad pick in the end zone yesterday. Yeah,
that two minute drill right before half.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
Yeah, he threw a bad pick in the end zone.
But he is under I think i'd like to see
what his pressure rate is, how how many times he's
pressure because I don't think there's I know there's not
another Corvett that's taken more hits than him this year.
And he's still fighting off defensive liignment like a man
and ripping it over there every single time he can.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
Yeah, it's very impressive. We have a tier talk here
from EVA Unit Underscore on on x hashtag tier talk.
You know where this is going to go. You said
the Colts were overrated at five and one. Are the
Colts still overrated at six and one?
Speaker 7 (09:48):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (09:48):
Eva, they are not overrated. I was wrong, and I
am sincerely so sorry. I am I'm glad you said that.
Like I'm glad you said that. We're not going to
sit here and say that they're they're you know, I
was forced to do it, not gonna say it, not
gonna say anything, not gonna say anything. But I was wrong.
(10:08):
I am sorry. I will do my best to make
this right on national television this Thursday. I'll get up
in the morning.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
I think the question now becomes are the Colts contenders?
Like this is a team we can look at and
be like, this is a team that can actually win
a Super Bowl this year.
Speaker 4 (10:25):
That offense is insane, dude.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
Their offense is, yes, we can definitely take that. Their
offense is absolutely incredible. Their defense, like they don't get
a whole lot of pressure there, but they're very much bend,
don't break, and they put. They do a great job
of scheming up the other offenses. They're very sticky in
the back end of coverages. Their linebackers are flying around
right now, and even though if I'm a defensive line standpoint,
(10:48):
they're not getting a lot of pressure. They're holding the
gaps to where when there's really no run lanes between
the two tackles, Like they are playing very very good football.
I don't I don't know very much about the special
teams and all that, but they're a team that you
look special teams.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
Let me tell you a mirror of Doula, A mirror
of Doulah in what year? Ten eleven? Yeah? Bro, And
he's got himself. I think he's got the first game
I saw that, I'm like, oh shit, a mirror on
the Colts. Now he's scoring a touchdown like in the
third or fourth quarter. But also he had a massive
kick return yesterday to where I'm just smile on my
(11:25):
face again. This motherfucker ageless, still doing it, Still chip
on his shoulder, doesn't matter what role he's in. Nothing,
the dude balls man. So yeah, there there's a there's
another thing for this. So the special teams are nice.
Special teams are nice.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
I like that. I mean, they seem like they're going
to be the team to win the South right now.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
They are. They are playing really well. And Tyler Warren
I saw a clip of him going around blocking to
some porn.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
Something about football porn man. Tight ends that can do
it all for you. Tight Ends still one of the
more underrated positions in all of the NFL.
Speaker 8 (11:57):
That's got some white boys that can like Alex Per
number fourteen. Yeah, for whatever reason, he's just good for
a thirty yard bomb every every week.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
Yeah, every week with old Danny Dimes or there. He's
starting to get the nickname Danny Discount.
Speaker 4 (12:12):
I'm pretty sure it's just Indiana Jones.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
Indiana Jones. Yeah, Indiana Jones. I'll tell you what he
want to be, Indiana pay payday, because that dude is
gonna get broke the fuck off after this season.
Speaker 6 (12:24):
He broke off.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
I think he signed a Hondo for the Giants.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
He got a big one with the Giants.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
Yeah, yeah, No, he got one with the Giants, and
then yeah he's you know what else, got broke off
twice for tuber teams. Ryan Tannehill O Tannehill. Yeah, he
took his team to THEFC championship.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
He is he did. We have a tier tier talk here,
switch up the teams the conversation. You heard it here. First,
John Gruden will be the Titans next head coach. Hash
tag tier talk from hector hectoring seventy.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
One hectoring seventy one boys, Titan fans in the back,
how do we feel about that? John Gruden, is that.
Speaker 7 (12:59):
Your I don't think it will happen and be obviously
fun electric for Nashville. I feel like someone on this
bus said it, but they was you talking about how
like he would not integrate well with most players, like
he would lock and with. Someone was saying, how like
you think he's gonna be like a great fit for it,
but the XES and o's he's like kind of an asshole,
(13:20):
Like if you don't get his scheme and play like
he kind of you gotta be all in or all out.
I don't know how much truth there is in that.
I would love to see Gruden Nashville give us a
nice little bump, but the odds of it happening I
don't think are very likely.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
Yeah, but do you have a list yet?
Speaker 7 (13:35):
Jack, I've said on Twitter, I mean, Joe Brady would
be a fun one, but at the same time, it
scares me to bring in a OC that has zero
experience as a head coach the same way we just
did with Callahan, So I don't think that would be
the move. There's obviously the McCarthy's and Kingsbury's of the
world kind of floating around there, so I don't know
I mean, you guys just talked with Marcus Freeman. Y'all
were kind of like sprinkling that in there.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
I don't know, I've just hearing that Marcus Freeman is
now getting in NFL job conversations.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
Yeah, I mean, and then who said that before we
got on the bus that the Titan he was mentioned
with the.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
Titans just somebody JP said it.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
JP just out there.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
No, he's seeing comers literally saw it on Twitter.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
The thing that Joe Brady think kind of makes me
nervous if that is the path of the Titans want
to go down, because I think they want to get
an offensive minded head coach is probably the smartest thing
to do with the first overall pick. But Joe Brady
friend in the future, friend of the show.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
Great guy, already the show, already friend of the show,
the Gear, bought the gear at the Gear.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
He's about it. He is the OC for the reigning MVP,
and he's got a guy in Josh Allen that's like
pretty incredible. Josh Allen can do things that I don't
know if it's yet to be seen whether or not
Cam Wort can do those things. Yeah, that makes me.
That makes me a little more nervous about that.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
I think that's certainly something that could go against him
is that he's been operating with Josh Allen. But he
still has one of the best rushing offenses in the
NFL with James Cook and the way that they make
it up. But you're right, it's but again, I still
think cam Ward is a bona fide QB in the internet.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
Yeah, I mean he dude, we can get into the
Patriots Titans. No sense we're already on the subject. That
first half was extremely competitive, extreme awesome. First quarter was like.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
The quarter we was up baby the first quarter. How
was it when Ray came into the stadium.
Speaker 7 (15:23):
Uh, there wasn't like a whole like welcome back Mike
Vrabel And I was there pretty early. I usually go
to like one of my friend's family's tailgate and post
Tennessee Vama loss. I truly didn't want to be around anyone.
So I got in the stadium I think with like
thirty eight minutes left on the running clock, and I'm
just sitting in my seat, just kind of watching the
guys warm up doing that whole dance. But there wasn't
(15:44):
like a whole like boo verybel or like big cheers.
The big thing was I've been in many games at
Nissan Stadium over the course of my life and seeing
many away teams take over. I truly don't think that
there was a bigger takeover than there was yesterday with
Patriots fans. Whether it's because like the Patriots had such
a massive run, you know, and the Brady and Belichick era,
(16:07):
because they just have fans in every market, or if
it's because people want to support Rabel you know what
I mean.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
Do you feel like they're fans out there that might
have just put on the Patriot gear for the day.
Speaker 7 (16:20):
I think there were fans that like claim to be
a Patriots fan, but like last year, they weren't speaking
up for the Patriots, you know what I mean, Like
now that they're five and two and find a fly,
I mean, and I forget, like those fucking massholes, they're
fuck they're pricks. So many people were so mean to me.
(16:41):
I was literally in the bathroom peeing waiting for you
open up, and a guy looks back and goes, so like,
how bad is it being a Titans fan? And it's
some like fucking twenty two year old kid in a
Patriots Jersey. I was like, well, you're here, and I'm
like in my head, I'm like, just don't do this,
like just piss and get out. And he's pissing like
two away from me, and I'm done. But I see
(17:02):
him go and I'm like, I'm gonna just hold my
dick for a second. Let him scatter out. I kind
of do one of those glances over he's waiting, he's
not washing his hands, he's waiting, and I'm like, oh,
he wants to say some other stuff. So the Titans
like howevery NFL one is there's two interests. There's an
entrance and exit. I go out the entrance to try
and avoid him. He hawks me down and uh silver lining.
(17:25):
He's like, hey, man, you work for busting, don't you.
Speaker 2 (17:28):
He was like, dude, I appreciate what y'all do so much.
He's like, my Tuesday mornings.
Speaker 7 (17:32):
My whole routine revolves around your show, and like it
was a full one eighty and he's like, hey, sorry
for like bringing up like the fan base. He's like,
I've lived in Nashville for three years now. And I
was like, I was like all good, bro, Like we
had like a good combo and it was nice. So
other than him, pretty much.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
He saw the reaction he got. He's like, oh, man,
I mean.
Speaker 7 (17:55):
Like going into half, we immediately get a fumble and
they score and then they get another score.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
And so I'm just sitting there.
Speaker 7 (18:02):
I'm like, hey, man, like kick a do while he's down.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
Sure he might be thinking he might get some banter
from me, like hey, how mad is it being a
Titans fan? You're like oh, But then he realized like, oh,
they're they're crumbled.
Speaker 7 (18:15):
To get pissed off. Like I wasn't drinking and stuff,
so I was there to be like a sober just.
Speaker 2 (18:19):
Like Stern, like fuck off, dude.
Speaker 7 (18:21):
Yeah, but he ended up being a really nice somebody
to go him, shout out Brendan. He ended up being
a cool guy. But yeah, it's a tough day Nashville
always is. It was just a tough weekend as a Tennessee.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
It was.
Speaker 7 (18:36):
I was happy that last night I ended up I
kind of I was watching the Sunday night game and
I ended up just like carving pumpkins, which was a
nice kind of just reset. I need to just get
away from sports, just like get grounded and and then
watch Yeah, just.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
Try and remember the Flowers for a second.
Speaker 7 (18:55):
So I don't know who's going to be the next coach.
If it's younger and you would hear zero complaints from me,
it would be electric. I just don't know if John
Gruden's going to come back through the NFL again.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
A guy that I love for it.
Speaker 7 (19:06):
Arthur Smith, Yeah, I think also, you know, you see
what he did when he's OC, goes to be Atlanta's
and then he goes to Pittsburgh and now he's OC
and it's like, does he.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
Make That's why I like it, because I like him
becoming going back to a coaching. Very rarely do you see,
not very rarely, but a lot of times you see
a guy being a coordinator, he goes becomes a head coach.
It doesn't work, but they learn a bunch of lessons
through that process. They go back to being OC established
and show that they are still very good at their job,
become a head coach again, and then they can put
(19:36):
the correct pieces around them to help them where they
failed before. And I think Arthur, knowing the franchise, understanding
it's a very unique franchise. Right the medium market, it's
pretty bad. You're not having like, you're not going to
have all of the resources in the world. But he's
lived that, he's been through it, and he's worked through
from like essentially a GA position all the way to
coordinator then leaving. So I think you need a guy
(19:57):
to understand the type of franchise you're walking into. And
that's why I think Arthur's a great fit for it,
because he has the Atlanta experience and be like, hey,
this is where I went wrong and this is where
I can get better. And when he was in Atlanta,
he really didn't have a quarterback. Now he has a
place to have a quarterback. If you look at the
Steelers game, Steelers just the Bengals obviously didn't go to
(20:18):
Steelers way. We talked about the way the Atlanta Falcons
run eleven personnel wide zone. There's not a team in
the league that's running twelve thirteen personnel wide zone better
than the other Pittsburgh Steelers. They are running. The plays
we would run would be nineteen, which would be your
twelve personnel, your quattros, your zaps, your zorros. All of
those are kind of the same play with a little
(20:39):
extra something on it. Every a little extra motion or
something He does an amazing job of calling those plays
and knowing the rotation and when to getting out of
those plays. I'm very impressed with his play calling right now,
very impressed with what's going on and utilizing the pieces
he has at the Steelers.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
Right now, you need this convo to be like a
slow burd You don't want him to be Pea right now.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
You want the Steelers. You want the Steelers to right
the ship.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
Right the ship, take over this division because it's still
their division. To lose tough loss against the Bengals. Defense, man,
it's nuts. We actually here, here's a tier talk right
here from jag JP e J zero eight. Tier talk
is a Steelers defense actually asked. It's like, I don't
want to say that because they have a lot of dudes,
(21:26):
for sure, a lot of names, a lot of dudes
like you got high Smith, you got what you got, Hayward,
you got Cole Holkum, Patrick Queen, Jalen Rams, you got
all these guys. It's the highest paid defense in the league.
But as it stands right now, it's like, bro, they
need more of that defense right now. They are asked
like they're gonna they're gonna have to compliment that offense well,
because the offense can move the ball. Aaron Rodgers out
(21:49):
there slinging that, like the rock run game is very well.
That massive ass tight end.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
Yeah Washington, Darnell Washington. Hey, he's tipping the toledos at
three twenty right now. I heard really three and twenty pounds.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
Dude, that monster.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
And also they run extra tackles, so they have six
offensive linemen in the game with him.
Speaker 1 (22:11):
They need more of that defense.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
They need more.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
Can't drop that game against the bigles. Hats off to
Joe Flacco.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
And it's a safe when you when you watch the
Seahawks game had a few weeks ago, and we were
kind of going over when they're in man coverage and
the other two safeties and one safety supposed to knock
off one and kind of stay with the receiver, and
there was a guy in the back of the end
zone that ended up catching a touchdown. These same problems
are happening again. It's not guys being bad at football,
(22:37):
it's just blatant miscommunications that are taking place in this defense.
So where it's like, yeah, you have talent. All the
names you just said are good football players, but there's
something going on, especially in the back end of that
defense where they are just not on the same page
because there are guys wide open. The fact that you
have Jamar Chase said, was it a league record or
(22:58):
his personal record targeted and receptions in a game. But
you get through the second quarter of that game, you
go and make it at the very minimum halftime and go, hey,
let's just take away this guy. And he was running
free on multiple occasions times where you're just like, bro,
how the fuck is he still open? You see in
the TV copy, but you also see it when you
break down the film. It's like this dude. Guys think
(23:21):
other dudes are coming in to take over, and they're
bailing in a certain other areas of the defense, and
either this guy's bailing too soon or this guy's not
coming over. But this guy, he has five six yards
of space in between when he's catching the football, and
it's just like that is one of the best players
in the NFL, and you have a forty two year
old quarterback who is throwing the ball probably as good
(23:45):
as he ever has, like twenty sixteen.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
I have much fun that really both of them are
having at that age. It's like the WD forty was
out Thursday night football. They're just slinging the rock dead
over what they have over six under six hundred, just
under six hundred. I would disagree. I would disagree that
they're both having fun. I mean, how many times it
could go over to Aaron Rodgers just chewing somebody's ass out,
(24:10):
But when a play is mate or hey, and then no, boy,
the tackle that jumped on him after the touchdown, Oh
my god.
Speaker 2 (24:17):
Oh yeah yeah, he injured him right, and people were like, yo,
he knows that. He's like I am one. I'm a
gust of win Away wind Away.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
As being too much. It's like, no, bro, you have
to get up and be like, dog, I'm fucking old,
Like what are you fucking doing?
Speaker 2 (24:31):
Yeah, dude, it's like going up to an old dog
and be like, hey, hey, it's like that dog's gonna
yelp eventually, like you need to leave the dog alone.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
It's if in real time, Taylor, if Taylor did this
to me now, I would be just like I'd be
just so mad, like, bro, you know my fucking it's
happened too.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
I'm pretty sure that's happened in the last three weeks.
But no, no, doubt like, and this cat seventy seven was,
by the way, he played a great football game against
the Bengals, even though the Bengals the past or sucks.
I would would one hundred percent be this guy to
Aaron Rodgers and get showed out. I get so juiced
up after a play. I'm like a dog wagon his stail.
Speaker 4 (25:06):
Hey, we do it.
Speaker 2 (25:07):
He's like, get the fuck off, man, what are you doing?
Just knock some over.
Speaker 1 (25:12):
Aaron Rodgers is a cat. Don't fucking pet him.
Speaker 2 (25:14):
Don't pet him like when he wants food, He'll fucking
be between your legs for a second. Other than that,
I'll leave him alone. He hits his Mario, he's excited.
Look at this bro oh and he finishes the tackle too,
which is just crazy, just crazy. But then you got
Joe Flacco on the other side, who knows. He's just
on borrowed time. Like Aaron Rodgers smarter than everybody else,
(25:37):
Professor mit To. Somebody said that in the stream last week.
He's a guy that's like, he knows he could probably
still win a Super Bowl. But Joe Flacco is like
borrow time, don't care, I'm gonna sling it. He's got
these weapons on the perimeter. Now he's like, fuck it,
let's see what happens out here.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
And Joe knows he can still be nasty and elite,
not like I'm here with the massive chip on my shoulder.
I love it all of his perspective to where he's
like all his families, they're like they understand the moment
he's still in. But Joe Flacco can. If the defense
for the Steelers they do not get halfway better, like decent,
(26:13):
that North is gonna get interesting because Joe can get
the ball out fast as timing is really good. They
have weapons on the outside. Ravens are still sitting there
with the Ravens one in five.
Speaker 2 (26:23):
They're still like Jackson, it is.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
The Steelers division to lose. But if they if the
Ravens just start to get spicy, Browns are done. Browns
ain't making it, I know, but they they're dude, I'm
telling you, it's gonna it's gonna, it's gonna be interesting
between those three teams with the Bengals, the Ravens, and
the Steelers.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
Yeah, the Miami Dolphins, dude, they I mean, they're all
pulling up to the game with handicap stickers on their
roof of your mirror, like that team is done. They
did win, Yeah, yeah, they won. Their defense got like
twenty points in Fantasy. It was crazy, Adam, I don't.
Speaker 6 (26:59):
Know the best Joe on the Bengals.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
Oh is your quarterback controversy taking place.
Speaker 4 (27:05):
In Cincinnati right?
Speaker 6 (27:05):
One of them can get the ball out, the other
one maybe holds onto it a little bit too long.
Speaker 1 (27:10):
Maybe a spot for Spencer Rattler.
Speaker 6 (27:14):
I say to say, forget about Rattler's three interception game.
He could fit in great.
Speaker 2 (27:19):
Dude. How are we feeling about everybody but Clump? How
are we feeling about the Philadelphia Eagles right now?
Speaker 1 (27:27):
I have to watch the game. I didn't watch the game.
I'm sitting there kind of like pissed off following it
on the ESPN app because that was another game that
I loved, Vikings beating the Eagles, and now I'm coming
out of yeah, oh well, I had like, I'm thinking,
this is great, this is a game I love Vikings
beating the Eagles, and then to come out of it,
see AJ Brown's getting touchdowns, Jalen Hurt, It's like a
(27:47):
perfect passeray the most bizarre like headspin zone that I'm in,
Like I have to watch the tape before I have
an opinion, but it just seems like they handled business.
It seems like the Eagles handle business. The conversations that
took place a couple of weeks ago, they didn't come
to fruition until this past weekend against the Vikings. Maybe
the Eagles are back. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (28:09):
Jalen was on fire.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
Jalen was on fire.
Speaker 1 (28:12):
Jalen still and against Saquon didn't really have three point
one yards football liability for.
Speaker 4 (28:17):
Me right now, I'm pissed, pissed.
Speaker 2 (28:21):
Shout out Saquon though, because somebody was saying this in
the pre pro meeting. Clump was saying this whereon Sakon
Barkley about him having an off day and is like
our quarterback just had a perfect passwordy Like why are
you even talking to me about this? Like we want
like that's a guy right there.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
But it seems like they won in such a way
offensively to where every conversation that was boiling and starting
to crack the service and everything else, like the fall
was gonna happen. It seems like they played and wanted
a certain way to where they just shut everybody up.
Speaker 2 (28:47):
So here's here's here's my takeaways. Yeah, here's my takeaway
from that game. I think Jalen Hurts played a very
good game. There's still throws that he had, kind of
what Orlofsky was talking about. He has throws right in
front of him, but he's waiting so long to pull
a trigger because of the risk aversion. But a lot
of these plays that he was able to get Aj
Brown on his touchdown, it was has a couple of reads,
(29:08):
breaks out of the pocket, extends the play a little bit,
and then sees aj and puts it in the perfect spot.
DeVante Smith multiple plays in the middle of the field,
wide open, nobody else around him. So yeah, Jalen Hurts
played a great game. My favorite series of that game
was the four minute drill that took place to ice
the game. Because Carson Wentz, he one was pressing. You
(29:29):
could see that he was trying to beat the Eagles.
It was a very personal game and it's obviously he
had his role with the Eagles. He ends up getting
you know, Nick Foles takes over, he goes somewhere else.
But people forget that Carson Wentz was on the Chiefs
last year when the Chiefs lost Super Bowl to the Eagles.
So this is more personal and personal. He's pressing the
ball down the field. But the four minute drill they go,
they run the ball a couple times, they have very
(29:50):
little success to where you're thinking, oh shit, the Vikings
are going to be able to come back, and maybe
Carson Wentz has the see.
Speaker 1 (29:57):
Like in highlights they were talking about I think I
caught a moment of that game they're talking about just
missed ops at the Vikings.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
Missed up well. They had a pick six, they had
uh he throw two picks.
Speaker 4 (30:07):
In the game, but also the field goal. They couldn't
score in the red.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
Zone, right, they couldn't score in the red zone. Defensive
the cornerback standpoint, they stood up pretty well. But that
four minute drill, they run the ball once it doesn't
go their way. I think they get one maybe two yards.
The next play they won the Classic as Classic gets
a j Brown slant, Jalen Hurts throws it behind him
to where it's like what a horrible misthrow and now
(30:34):
stops the clock and you're.
Speaker 1 (30:35):
Like, I did I saw that?
Speaker 2 (30:37):
So you're sitting there like, yeah, this is when you're thinking,
oh my god, the Vikings are about to take over
and Carson Wentz is gonna will his team into a
w right here. Then the next play a J Brown
slant go and the corner bites on the slant, which
all of us would but it was an incredible play
call goes aj gets it and that's the end of
the game. Yeah, that last part it was right there. Man,
(31:02):
You're like, I still have question marks. But the Eagles though,
like the offensive line is still not they're not blocking
very well. They What I did notice it is they
played the game for more under center, so they're like
kind of hearing the noise and adapting to the noise
a little bit. And hearing Drew Brees talk about being
under center and how that must changes everything like really
makes me think, Okay, this needs to be an under
center team more often than not. So it's it'll be interesting.
(31:26):
That whole division is kind of wild too, because you
look at the Cowboys commanders. Everyone thought that game was
going to be really close.
Speaker 1 (31:31):
Bro, Cowboys, I can't wait to watch that one.
Speaker 3 (31:33):
Dude.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
Their defense dff way more man, way more disguise. Like
it was like, I'm thinking of myself, like.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
You think abrafl is watching Willy Boy.
Speaker 2 (31:44):
I think Abraflus is watching WILLI Boy on Thursdays and
he's like, oh, this is this team like because I
mean they put up forty four points broy forty four
points in offense and the question mark that we had
about George Pickens is seeking to be okay with CD
Like bloody, it was amazing and it was Pickins was
making catches. That's like, oh, I see why people say
he's the most talented wide receiver in the world, Like
(32:05):
little to no separation catching the ball. Dak Prescott's putting
it right in the bucket at times. Yes, bro, yeah, bro,
he was more like this, and it was I.
Speaker 1 (32:15):
Saw I saw a post on X two and I'm
honestly I'm kind of about it. Do whatever you can,
fuck the Picks. Figure out a way to get Max
Crosby or Tranerckson, not Hendrickson, Miles Jerry Simmons apparently.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
So I saw a tweet the other I did.
Speaker 1 (32:33):
I saw that, and like, you know, it's obviously he's
on X and somebody like trying to play a game
whatever else. But I am thinking like, yeah, bro, go
get somebody on that defensive line and go all in
to win the Super Bowl this year because they have
the offense to do it.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
Yeah, yeah, what are they? Three three and one?
Speaker 1 (32:51):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (32:52):
Three three and one right now? And I'm not I'm
not buying the Eagles. I love the Giants, moxie and energy.
Giants got something happening, they got they got something happening
right now. I don't think they're gonna be contenders this year,
but I do what they think. What I think happened
is Dable has saved his.
Speaker 1 (33:07):
Job because you you, no matter how the year goes,
I think you, Dable's got to stay there.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
Bro, Yeah, He's got to stay there because you can't
run into a situation. You're like with the Titans, where
you go and draft quarterback, you have an offensive guy,
it doesn't work out. Now, who're gonna get?
Speaker 9 (33:18):
Now?
Speaker 2 (33:18):
Was he the guy? Was he not the guy? At
that whole thing? That song and dance? Dable they don't
have eleague neighbors and Bro, they're still against that Denver
Broncos defense moving the ball, not only getting chunk plays,
but like sustaining drives. Take like it was very very
impressive watching it. Jackson's got it He's got it, Bro,
Jackson's got it. He's gonna continue to get better. Even
(33:40):
Sean Payton after the game, he's talking about how he
was talking to maybe the GM of the Giants, and
you know, he's like, I was hoping you guys are
gonna hold on to him pass way past our game
and stuff, but just getting the tip of the cap
from somebody like Sean Payton as well, like Jackson, Darkies
Russell Wilson taking a crazy stray right there.
Speaker 1 (33:58):
I did see one. I did see one tier talk earlier.
I think Clump's name was in it.
Speaker 6 (34:06):
Jack the best quarterback right now here?
Speaker 1 (34:09):
I mean, yeah, I think so. I mean there's the
argument's definitely there because because what.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
Is your what is your brain? Who was a Matt
Stafford goes to Jake and Mayfield. It was the Patrick Mahomes,
Drake May. I think Drake May's in the Cup. Not
like best in the league, but Drake is starting to ascend.
It passes over thirty yards, passes over thirty yards. Drake
may is throwing at seventy five right now. Sammy d
Sammy d Well, it's this is this is a great
year for quarterbacks. Yeah, Danny dimes.
Speaker 1 (34:38):
Here, here's the tier talk. This is from underscore. Jack McPherson.
This is from Jack not a burner. Thank you for
tapping into the tier talk. Jack is Clump the biggest
fraud at the office. Hashtag tear talk and the only
answer is yes. And so to give a little context,
you'll have your time.
Speaker 7 (34:56):
Clumb before the season was like, dude, him and his
relocated here from PA. He was like, we're gonna be
Tennessee fans, Like we're joining. And then all year long
he's been teetering and he's here and he's there. And
then two weeks ago he said on our live stream
that he was going to do a verbal commitment to
his fandom for the rest.
Speaker 6 (35:16):
Of his life.
Speaker 1 (35:17):
And he's college football, college football.
Speaker 7 (35:19):
He's wearing a Tennessee hat when he made this statement
last week. He comes into the stream last week again,
doesn't stand on the word. You see me wearing this
Alabama jersey. I honor my commitments at my bets. Clumb
says he's gonna make a commitment there, doesn't do it
at halftime. He sends a pre or written notes app
(35:40):
after Tennessee lose Obama, saying that he will be joining
the Florida Gators in there living in Tennessee. He's going
to choose one of our biggest rivals. And I just
don't know this point if it's just a bit, if
it's all for the fun and stuff. But me and
Clump are co fantasy managers, and I told him before this,
(36:01):
I go, just know my heart is no longer with
this team for the rest of the year. Oh, I
don't check.
Speaker 2 (36:09):
It's a fire sale.
Speaker 1 (36:11):
Throw us some trades whenever.
Speaker 3 (36:12):
You want, I'll consider it.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
But also going into that, so you know, last week,
whenever we were having that little dust up at the
shop on what real fandom is, Yeatt Malone be in
the casual all these conversations are taking place, is arguing
going on, and I was aware of Clump saying he
was going to commit this weekend to his college football team.
And at the time he's kind of asking my thoughts, Hey,
how would you like I kind of want to be
(36:36):
a Vanderbilt commodorees like my kids, like we're all here,
they're gonna grow up, We're gonna be in Nashville. Like
I think it'd be fun. Would you respect me as
like a Vanderbilt I was like, Bro, I think you'd
be in the caterpillar stage, but it wouldn't be like, oh,
you're a diehard bandy fan. It's gonna take a couple
of years everything else. But if you know the roster
inside out, and that's how you want to do it
with your fam. Now that you're here in Nashville and
(36:57):
your kids are going to grow up bandy fans and
all that, I'm thinking, yeah, Bro, you can for sure.
Speaker 7 (37:03):
I would have respected him taking Vandy one hundred times
more than him taking Florida, because it makes sense.
Speaker 1 (37:09):
The Florida one came out of nowhere, even when the
argument started happening, kind of out.
Speaker 7 (37:16):
And he's like, oh, it's going to be a new era,
and it's the first time the Balls played Florida on
the back end of the season, so he knows that
they clump. Claims that he didn't know Tennessee and Florida arrivals,
but I guarantee he knows that we play them in
three weeks.
Speaker 1 (37:31):
That I would I would buy that, cause again that
the Florida thing came out of when he when we
were talking last week, I was like, Oh, he's wanting
to know if it's cool. If he becomes a Vandy fan,
I'm like, dude, absolutely, Like no one's going to say like,
you're diehard right out of the gate, but if you're
here and you best go to a couple of.
Speaker 7 (37:46):
Games in proximity is the closest school, they're doing well,
Like you'd get a little flak from being like, oh,
they're finally good or you know whatever.
Speaker 1 (37:54):
Yeah, people are going to say bandwagon, but it's like,
as long as you're staying a Vanderbilt guy and your
kids are here and you're like wanting to take in
the games, I'm like, oh yeah, I'd respect that. Like,
you're not gonna be in those You're not gonna be
in the diehards yet, but it's gonna take a couple
of years. But absolutely, I think that's a good move.
Speaker 6 (38:09):
He's never taken his kid to a Florida game.
Speaker 1 (38:12):
The Florida post in our group chat was wild to
me cause I'm like, bro, why didn't you commit to
Vanderbilt like you said you were going to because they
just had a massive win against LSU, Like it would
have been perfect for it.
Speaker 7 (38:23):
And then earlier in the shop he tried to like
double back and he's like, well, dude, it was just
a verbal commitment, and I go, you literally wrote a
presser on your commitment. Quite literally the opposite.
Speaker 1 (38:34):
You know, he's a high school football recruiting siccoh.
Speaker 7 (38:36):
Yeah, and he I'm on camera and so you can
that decision.
Speaker 2 (38:43):
Yeah, it is so funny. After all that, I went
on my phone and texted Jack a bunch of text
about trades. Came back to it. You guys were still
shitting on him, and he just goes respect my decision.
A company of.
Speaker 5 (38:57):
All I have to say is uh focused on who
the next coach of our football team is going to
be moving forward. Billy Napier, thank you for everything you've
done for Florida, but we are focused on we are
focused on the next head coach at the university. So
you're you're officially a Florida Gator. H. Who do I
want as the next head coach of the Florida Gators?
Speaker 1 (39:15):
Time out? Are you officially a Florida Gator?
Speaker 5 (39:19):
I would like to officially commit to the University of Florida.
I will be a Florida Gators fan from here on out.
I will live and die for the Florida Gators.
Speaker 2 (39:27):
This reminds me of that kid. I don't know if
you like committed to Georgia and as white as mom
was all about Alabama. Yeah, she like gets up a
walks away. This has got that energy written all over it.
Speaker 1 (39:37):
Cum Obviously they played Tennessee in a few weeks. But
is this like a it's on fire by low get
in while the chaos is happening. What's the thought process
behind this?
Speaker 2 (39:49):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (39:49):
Yes, no, I am kind of like I don't understand
why not Vanda?
Speaker 5 (39:53):
My college football fandom, obviously we all know has been
kind of a weird thing. But when I was no
longer a Penn State fan, did actually like like Florida
Gators with Tim Tebow and stuff.
Speaker 2 (40:03):
So there's like some everybody like Jack.
Speaker 1 (40:07):
I'm answering the question, answering the question you got something
right here locally?
Speaker 2 (40:14):
If you are clump, why buy Vandy stock high because
after this year you lose Diego Pavia. Maybe people talking
about clerk Lee he might be the man for a
lot of these big jobs coming up right now. Florida
might be a good op and might be a good
op for you to go find a talented football team
that's in the dumb store right now, and so then
(40:34):
spin Zone in a couple of years, you say they'll
be like I've been on the Florida Gators since they
fired Billy Napier, and there is a long move. Can
see it working for him right now.
Speaker 5 (40:44):
The fact that me t notes on on an iPhone
has led to this as a major win already as
a Florida Gators fan, I'm already want to know.
Speaker 2 (40:53):
You're after the game.
Speaker 1 (40:59):
My thought on I'm saying, this is the game. Kids
are here, like you can clearly go to games throughout
the year and have like fun.
Speaker 2 (41:07):
Club doesn't care about his kids. Club cares about everybody
in the office quietly hating him. That's what Club cares about.
Having something that dangle over there about.
Speaker 1 (41:17):
Five years when his son is just asking that why
are we Florida Gator fans? And he's just breaking down
this entire process so funny.
Speaker 2 (41:24):
You know what's fucked up. You know what's fucked up
is that Tennessee Florida game is gonna be a nail biter.
Speaker 7 (41:29):
It is, and we historically in the Swamp we struggle,
and so I'm not gonna get down that. I just
want Clump to know in fifteen years when JJ goes
to college and Clump has to pay ninety thousand dollars
to Florida, I'm gonna be sitting there smoking a cigar,
drinking a cup of coffee, going, I fucking told you so.
Speaker 2 (41:49):
That would be funny, that would be ironic, That would
be But at that point, you're fifteen years in three
naw yeah, two three natties deep. Who knows JJ has well?
Speaker 7 (42:00):
I mean.
Speaker 1 (42:02):
He has a ball, sure, I mean.
Speaker 7 (42:05):
Tennessee fan whenever he wants.
Speaker 2 (42:07):
I hate that his dad literally, So you would be
less mad if he's like, I'm gonna take pick Vanderbilt.
Speaker 7 (42:14):
Yeah, because by proximity it makes sense. It's I can't
be upset that, like the team that plays ten minutes
from where we're recording right now, he wants to be
a fan of they're doing well. We have guys who
worked at the shop who are active players, friends of
the show.
Speaker 2 (42:29):
It all makes sense.
Speaker 7 (42:31):
It feels very personal, it feels very clump rage baby,
and I'm falling for it every which way. And that's okay.
Speaker 1 (42:38):
But that's because I.
Speaker 3 (42:39):
Have true fandom with the Valls.
Speaker 7 (42:41):
Yeah, I don't have this Tiki Taki. I was a
Penn State fan. Once they sucked, I'm gonna be Tennessee.
I love.
Speaker 2 (42:50):
State sucked for the record, I think there was other
things that happened. Clump did like Joe Paul because that's
loved him.
Speaker 1 (43:02):
That's when you started to fall off the Penn State bandwagon.
Right when all this the ship was coming out.
Speaker 6 (43:07):
There's some weird people.
Speaker 3 (43:08):
It's like a cult at Penn State.
Speaker 1 (43:09):
I don't know. I don't want to get down this
rabbit hole, right, but that sounds like that for people
that are listening, that are coming on to this. Uh,
you know, what's all this ship going on with Clump
and Jack and everything else? Like you're fanom with Penn
State didn't happen because of what's happening this year when
the Penn.
Speaker 5 (43:23):
State sanctions and stuff started coming on, I've became a
Penn State hater the opposite.
Speaker 2 (43:27):
Okay, hey, can we just let's move on. We had
another tier talk here. We're gonna we'll just do a
different subject, dude. When it comes from this one comes
from Jeremy Clump at Nutty X professor will Tennessee missed
the college football playoff now hashtag tear talk, who said
that Jeremy Clump at Nutty US profession, I will well
(43:47):
Tennessee missed the college playoff.
Speaker 5 (43:49):
Now I will go on record and say, yes, the
Tennessee Balls will miss the collegetball playoff because they will.
Speaker 3 (43:58):
Lose to the Florida Gators this year.
Speaker 1 (44:00):
I have to say, Jack again, massive opportunity. Anytime JJ's
coming to the shop, this is vulnerable, This vulnerable kid
right now, you can groom him to be a Tennessee fan.
Speaker 5 (44:10):
I want I'm not gonna I'm not going to make
JJ a Florida Gators fan. If you want to be
a Tennessee fan, I think that's awesome because we live here.
Or fan for what it's worth.
Speaker 7 (44:19):
The whole reason he did this stick is so that
your kids could be fans.
Speaker 2 (44:25):
Listen, if you were a call, if you're a football fan,
one of the main reasons to have children is to
instill the same brainwash into them. So if you're going
to be a Florida Gator fan, you need to take
them to Gainesville, go pet some alligators and show them
what it's like to be a Florida fan. Get on Yelp,
get on Reddit, figure out all the things to do
(44:46):
there and get JJ's asked to be a Florida Gator fan.
Speaker 1 (44:49):
Telling you this is I think it's I think it
would be awesome if JJ was a Tennessee fan, Like
JJ is going to be prime one data where he's
going to be in his dad's face talking about how
shitty Florida is. Tennessee wins.
Speaker 2 (45:06):
As a dad who's recently brainwashed his youngest child, like
it's a great feeling when your kids start to come
to the come to your side. My oldest now, she
was almost rooting for Washington because there's the Huskies. She's all.
She's infatuated with those damn mascots. Yeah, we do, Yeah,
put it down. Uh, let's so, let's see.
Speaker 7 (45:27):
We've got Kentucky this week. We're set on Kentucky, that's
what matters. Then we have Oklahoma, then we have Florida,
then we have New Mexico State, and then we in
with Vandy. Obviously Vandy, Vandy's.
Speaker 2 (45:37):
Got he's not New Mexico. That's a good ball club.
Speaker 7 (45:39):
Yeah, Vandy's got some games coming up as well. Oklahoma
at home is big for us. I think we can
handle that. Florida obviously is scary, but also Florida is
not great this year, and now they have this horrible
juju surrounding their team that is Jeremy Clump. So honestly,
I've never felt better in my life. So yeah, ten
(46:00):
and two, we go to the playoffs, we watch Florida
cry at home, and JJ can come hang with me.
Speaker 2 (46:06):
This is this is the greatest thing about long form
media is we got to sit here and watch you
think through that entire thought and get to your conclusion.
If this was like Sports Center, you'd have to say,
I feel very good about Florida. Yeah, we gotta go
a break. That was nice.
Speaker 8 (46:22):
Speaking of the Balls, I think we have one more
tier talk up on the screen.
Speaker 1 (46:27):
Oh, Matt Malone.
Speaker 2 (46:27):
This is not a tier talk. This is hashtag full
sen wrong show. Matt Ball's lost, but I'm still hitting
the bar. That's called dedication.
Speaker 1 (46:35):
Well, we're not gonna waste any time on Matt Malone.
Speaker 7 (46:38):
And hey, I'm gonna I'm gonna stick up for my boy.
This is some AI generated shrm bullshit. I know what
Matt Malone did, and I'm gonna stick up because Matt
actually brought some juice to the stream and he's creepy.
Speaker 2 (46:52):
No it's not real. So I got to stick up for.
Speaker 7 (46:55):
My boy Matt Malone. He did not go out after
the game. I wouldn't blame him if he did, you know, but.
Speaker 2 (47:00):
Hey, you're a fucking problem with this AI thing. Like
you you're going to be. You're part of the issue
in the world that when it comes to AI. You
just told Mitch to his face it was real.
Speaker 4 (47:10):
I literally I literally looked at Sharm and like is
that real? And he's like yeah, and.
Speaker 7 (47:16):
Matt hashtag and I would literally sit him down, like
privately and be like, hey, dude, we're a couple of
mistakes away from.
Speaker 1 (47:22):
Having a real.
Speaker 2 (47:27):
Dude. Every week Matt Malone catches something.
Speaker 1 (47:30):
Matt Matt hell. He did, he did.
Speaker 7 (47:32):
He He made a baby step towards being a psycho.
Speaker 1 (47:36):
He's still not.
Speaker 7 (47:36):
He's very far away, but he is making the proper
steps to go to full psych.
Speaker 2 (47:42):
I don't think Matt took a step towards being like
a legitimate psycho fan. I think he just big brother.
He wanted to and that happy.
Speaker 7 (47:50):
All you gotta do is convince Big.
Speaker 1 (47:51):
He's a hunting He's a hunting dog right now. He's
a puppy. He's in the cage watching the adults go
and chase the birds. He's learning how it's gonna work
one day at a time when a daughter was reading
a book about that.
Speaker 2 (48:01):
Right now, Jack Hanning at Jack underscore handing. If I
jump off, okay, if I jump off the Gay Street
bridge in Knocksville, will I die? Hashtag tier talk, hashtag football.
That is real.
Speaker 1 (48:17):
We got to talk about other teams, other games going on.
There's a lot happening before we jump into the college footballorld,
which kind of feels very fitting right now.
Speaker 2 (48:25):
Do we want to talk about any more NFL?
Speaker 6 (48:27):
That's all I was gonna say. Stopped in the middle.
Speaker 2 (48:30):
We did.
Speaker 1 (48:30):
We did.
Speaker 2 (48:30):
Coop com Stock, he hit me on the side right
before we walked out here, said, we've lost six games
as Arizona Cardinals fan, six games by a total of
thirteen points. Cardinals are sneaky. They got that best three
and nine team vibe that Will Compton had a couple
of years ago. Don't sleep on the Cardinals.
Speaker 7 (48:46):
To come out Call of duty week.
Speaker 2 (48:48):
So yeah, Kobe Jacoby Pressett seem like the offense function
a little bit with him in the game, which is good.
If Jacoby Presett plays more gives Colin Murray more time
to play on Call of duty. So that place London
and Will and I are both on the You were
on the Jags, correct, Yeah, well, okay.
Speaker 1 (49:04):
It wasn't a favorite of mine. That's a game in London.
Rams are still spicy. They had pooka out.
Speaker 2 (49:08):
Yeah, they had pook out.
Speaker 1 (49:09):
I'm thinking Jags might have a bounce back game, like
they're learning how to win. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, but that
one got sideways, yes way.
Speaker 2 (49:15):
I mean yeah, in same day for Stafford. It actually
turns out being a good thing in my opinion that
the Rams have pooking the coop out because now DeVante
Adams and Matthew Stafford can kind of figure each other
out what each other likes. And it's back shoulder throws,
it's hitting him right out of brakes, it's timing, timing,
timing when it comes to Vonta Adams three touchdowns. Good
thing for the Jags, though, very sloppy football anytime they
(49:37):
got in their red zone. It didn't go the way
they want to turnover on downs multiple times, but they
outgained the Rams and they own the time of possession.
So those things you can look at and be like, hey, boys,
got to build twenty to twenty. We're looking pretty damn
good right now. It's just a matter of getting that
twenty to the end zone.
Speaker 1 (49:52):
So, but thirty five sevens absolute ass that's a schlacking
right there.
Speaker 2 (49:56):
Another ass who seven sacks again? Sacks giving up in
two football games. That's got to be a record that
I think the Titans did worse. I think we gave
him eleven against the Ravens twenty eighteen. Yeah, you heard
that game. We lost twenty three to three.
Speaker 1 (50:14):
Okay, chief fell another asshop in two Chiefs. Absolutely dummy
the Raiders.
Speaker 2 (50:19):
Yeah, the best team in the NFL, the best team
in the NFL.
Speaker 8 (50:27):
Right now that now that we got Rahi Rice back,
and like, we go ahead, I can say we if
I'm die hard, it should have been a love at
Rashi Rice scored this week. I don't know why we
overthink that, overthought that.
Speaker 2 (50:42):
Yeah, and and and he reads like essentially, yeah, he's
coming back. He's gonna get a big workload this week.
And we're like js N because on Monday when we're
shooting this, and if anybody who follows the locker room
is listening to the show, like we have four anytime
touchdown picks by me, Will Delanyon play three have hit.
The one we're waiting on is tonight with JSN and
(51:04):
the Seahawks, And I'm the one that took.
Speaker 1 (51:07):
It's a great pick.
Speaker 2 (51:09):
But you sit there and it's like it's a great pick. However,
it would have been nice to have for freet rise
and begind like, don't hey that thing. Hey, we don't
even need Monday night.
Speaker 3 (51:18):
To wait for Monday night for the last leg.
Speaker 1 (51:22):
Yeah, are you talking about Seattle? They play the Texans,
which I think would be a good game.
Speaker 2 (51:29):
That's a tuddy for sure. I mean there's a goo
good pass.
Speaker 1 (51:31):
Defense is nice, but dude, Seattle off.
Speaker 2 (51:33):
It's a line that's pretty good too. Bears beat the Saints.
I mean Bears not so great in the second half.
Ran the ball really well, defense played really well. Two
against bench against the Dolphins. That's a that's a fire, dude.
If McDaniel's hasn't been fired while we're doing this right now,
it's taking time bomb my.
Speaker 1 (51:50):
Right, I think.
Speaker 6 (51:52):
So yeah, they're keeping them keeping it.
Speaker 1 (51:55):
They're not firing right now.
Speaker 2 (51:56):
Okay, great, good for everybody in the as.
Speaker 1 (51:58):
Either way, it's bad there. Yeah, either way, it's bad.
Speaker 2 (52:01):
Jets remain winless. Jets are gonna go in sixteen per hawk. Uh,
Panthers fall thirteen to six at home. Yeah, I don't
know what to make of the Panthers. Same thing as
the Falcons.
Speaker 6 (52:11):
Or wait, the Panthers won.
Speaker 1 (52:13):
Oh yeah Panthers.
Speaker 6 (52:14):
Well, I mean the most insane thing the Panthers.
Speaker 2 (52:15):
Did Jets lose to the Panthers. Sorry, I read that incorrectly.
Speaker 6 (52:18):
The most insane thing the Panthers did was try and
split carries with Chuba Hubbard and Rico Dudel, so it
was unreal. And then finally the second half they went
to him and he Rico went off. But it's like
Rico is the third leading rusher in the NFL, and
when Chuba comes back, they try to give him, they
split the carries and it's like you're just putting water
on your hot hands.
Speaker 8 (52:38):
Yeah yeah, even exactly, even with splitting carries, Rico still
ended up with like seventy nine eighty yards and still
had thirty yards.
Speaker 4 (52:45):
He still ended up with like one hundred and twenty
all purpose yards.
Speaker 1 (52:47):
You gotta, yeah, you gotta continue to go with the
hot hand. I mean Panthers are sneaky stack in a
few wins now, yeah, yeah, with three in a row,
I believe said.
Speaker 7 (52:55):
Bryce out eight weeks too.
Speaker 1 (52:57):
Oh really back week eight?
Speaker 7 (52:59):
Well, so then what you be coming back?
Speaker 1 (53:03):
Like next week they have he's.
Speaker 3 (53:05):
Not playing this week and then maybe they have a bye.
So yeah, maybe that's right.
Speaker 1 (53:08):
You know, it is insane to that division. Jets and Dolphins,
like two of the worst teams we've ever seen ever.
Bills are chilling.
Speaker 2 (53:17):
Patriots don't sleep on the Titans.
Speaker 1 (53:20):
Don't sleep on the Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, I guess
I guess you are right with that one.
Speaker 2 (53:25):
Yeah, the Jets are.
Speaker 1 (53:26):
I'm just thinking both of these teams and that like
they're both in the division. There's some bad fucking teams
this year. Man, there's horrible.
Speaker 6 (53:34):
Teams and great quarterbacks.
Speaker 1 (53:35):
Yeah yeah, the theme of the year.
Speaker 2 (53:38):
I know this is the last I'll say. Drake May
impresses me so much, man, he really is. I think
he threw for this game against the Titans. He broke
a Tom.
Speaker 8 (53:47):
Brady records that the Patriots franchise record with completed completing.
Speaker 2 (53:52):
The completion percentage in.
Speaker 4 (53:54):
A game with like point five I think.
Speaker 2 (54:02):
Is Drake made better than Tom Brady.
Speaker 7 (54:05):
In the stadium when he took that hit to the head.
If you saw that where he fell back, Yeah, they
took him out. Josh Jobbs comes in for two plays,
and then when Drake May came out, Dude, the place erupted.
You would have thought that the Titans scored if you
were outside the stadium, it was so loud there cheering
for him. He's a gamer, and you, as someone who
just received an ass beating from him, a lot of
(54:26):
respect to him.
Speaker 2 (54:26):
It's fun to watch him for the show.
Speaker 7 (54:28):
And I love just like him and his fan with
all his brothers, like there's meatheads and like big just like, yeah,
gotta love it.
Speaker 2 (54:35):
Yeah. When he hit the back of his head, you
know he went that blue tent, was like I saw
my shoulder, my shoulder. Yeah, he's out. He was that
boy for a second. All right, let's pull the band
aid off. Let's get into college football. Uh, very fun
week in college football, Very fun week. Louisville upsets Miami.
Carson back through four interceptions in that game. Well what
(54:56):
do you make of Miami? I think are they gonna
Are they gonna win the ACC?
Speaker 1 (55:00):
Yeah? I think they I think they still win the
a SEC. Georgia Tax looking tough. Virginia, Yeah, Virginia, but
I see it being between Georgia Tech and Miami. Still. Look,
they lost to Louisville is not a bad football team.
Like I was watching some of that game too. They
got some guys, man, and they came to They showed
up Friday night, came to what Miami's ass. They obviously
(55:22):
took care of business. But Louisville is sneaky tough. But
I still I think I think Miami will bounce back.
Tough loss for him, though, Yeah, and they all the conversations,
conversations that everybody was having about essentially Indiana, Ohio state
and it was Miami in that tier. You did go
and drop a game.
Speaker 6 (55:38):
Carson Back's postgame though, idiot.
Speaker 2 (55:41):
Yeah, I didn't see it.
Speaker 1 (55:43):
He's just talking about because he had what he had
four interceptions, and he's kind of talking about each one,
and you know, talking about it like throwing some other
guys under the bus, not like specifically throwing them under
the bus, but talking about the plays and ways where
it's miscommunication. We didn't run the right route. Yeah, Eddy
got it wasn't just him, you know, as a quarterback.
You guys just stand up there and.
Speaker 2 (56:03):
Say no matter what, and then get it internally and
be like, you can't be running the wrong route. Yeah, Like,
but you want you want to walk into the locker
room and show your guys that you had their back
in front of the public, but inside like I have
to hold you accountable.
Speaker 1 (56:14):
Yeah, and you did what he said.
Speaker 6 (56:16):
He said if he runs the right right route, it's
not a pick.
Speaker 1 (56:19):
And it's like, dude, oh yeah, what would you say?
Speaker 6 (56:21):
People are already like you're a type of player that
everybody is looking for just one reason to hate.
Speaker 1 (56:27):
Yeah, and you just gave them that reason because everybody
else that night it was like, Carson Beck, here's a
Carson Beck game, right, He's gonna he's gonna show you
he's gonna have these types of games in the season.
Carson Beck is still Carson Beck. And then to go
out and have a presser like that that does not
does not look good, does not help. I still think
Miami's really good. They just sometimes you can have it
off night, you can have it off, you have a
(56:47):
bad night. Let's uh, let's skip that next one. Let's
talk about Georgia versus Old Miss probably the most exciting
game to watch all year. I mean, we talked about
in the locker room with Josh. Pat's like, how does
that first quarter look? That's gonna tell you how the
Dogs are gonna do in this game.
Speaker 2 (57:00):
I think it was ten to seven after the first
quarter of my corrects and saying that ten to seven dogs. Yeah,
Because I didn't get to watch the whole game. I
was I was flying back, but I got to see
the end of that game, and they put up the
drive chart for Old Miss and it's touchdown, touchdown, three
and out, and I remember it's like it's like Super
Troopers when they're shooting the uh the cup, the bulletproof cup,
(57:22):
and he's like, well what about that. She's like, I
don't worry about that one. That's what I'm thinking to myself,
is like, oh, ole Miss. They had that little blip
on the radar, but that's nothing. George's defenses all of
a sudden decided to take over the game, take over
the game, and Gunnar Stockton legit ballplayer. I don't know
if he's an NFL guy. I'm not. I'm not savvy
enough to know about quarterbacks and all that. I'll leave
them to the professionals. But buddy, from a college football standpoint,
(57:46):
dogs don't care about your feelings. It seems like everyone's
always like, yeah, you know, like who does who are they? Kirby, Like,
are they really going to be a team this year?
And it's like they're a team. They're gonna be in
the playoff again. They're gonna be terrifying for anybody who
plays them from here on out.
Speaker 1 (57:59):
It's just as yeah, big game two Gunnerstock and just
the offense. Like again forty three to thirty five, showing
up in a shootout against Lin Kiffen and that Old
Miss team. It was fun to watch. They're just going
back and forth. There's so many points in that game.
I know in the locker room, I took Georgia to cover.
But when I went into that game and going on
FanDuel that day, I just went and took the over
(58:21):
because I'm like, I just don't know how this game
is gonna go. Like I think Old Miss is a
good football team, you know, It's like they're showing against
Wazoo last week. It's like, yeah, they're probably all on
deck for this Georgia game coming up. So I just
ended up taking the over and the over hitting. Like
the first half or beginning of the third quarter, it
was just points after points after points. It was crazy.
Speaker 3 (58:42):
Yeah, Kirby's second half adjustment is just unmatched. So it's unmatched.
Was up like two scores. Should have been a comfortable
ride through the rest of the game, and here come
the dogs.
Speaker 2 (58:56):
Here come the dogs.
Speaker 3 (58:57):
And it's weird because you, I mean, you brought up
the Gunner Stockton thing. You watch it and you're like,
how are his numbers?
Speaker 1 (59:03):
Like that?
Speaker 3 (59:04):
It doesn't make any sense. But then he's a gamer
bro right, Like I still am sitting here.
Speaker 1 (59:10):
Like is he good?
Speaker 2 (59:11):
He's good?
Speaker 1 (59:12):
But he.
Speaker 3 (59:14):
Yeah, I mean he's good, but has that ability.
Speaker 2 (59:18):
Yeah, he's a guy that can live in Athens for
the rest of his life if everything goes his way
this year. And it's like, oh, what have you been
up to? He's like this, man, you're forty five. Yeah, man,
fuck it. Yeah, I got a coushy job, nice apartment.
Things are good.
Speaker 1 (59:32):
I do want the show to flow well, but I
just do have a question, why do you want to
skip the Nebraska game?
Speaker 2 (59:38):
Because I knew we were gonna take a lot of
time on that and I was like, well, let's make
sure and hit Okay, let's let's hit these games.
Speaker 1 (59:45):
I just want the people to know, like I know,
I need to face the noise. You know, no, no, no,
we're not trying to do it.
Speaker 2 (59:52):
Nebraska, Okay. I just I want to give Nebraska its
time because I know guys have questions. I have questions,
and so wanted to kind of righte that when we
talked about Alabama Tennessee a little bit, uh trying to
would pick six at the end of the half, buddy,
like that was ball game right there?
Speaker 3 (01:00:07):
That was that was.
Speaker 2 (01:00:08):
Ball game, I mean, and then the safety Yeah, that's
I mean, that's nine points right there that you guys
just can't afford to give the Alabama Crimson tied. It's
just who's who's uh the what do they call him?
The disease? The infection? You're that wide receiver. Oh, germ,
germ would know, but what do they I think they
(01:00:29):
call him the infection? Right that's a germ?
Speaker 3 (01:00:31):
Yeah, sure, that's first I've heard it.
Speaker 2 (01:00:34):
Really, I would look that up for him because I
feel like I think I've heard that multiple times. That
guy is so impressive. He's a ballplayer, got that a. J.
Brown building him too like it's that it's but he
runs like Debo.
Speaker 3 (01:00:47):
Yeah he's nice, but even nicer is Ty Simpson. He's
playing some good balls on fire.
Speaker 2 (01:00:53):
That they not there.
Speaker 3 (01:00:54):
Fire uses his legs when he needs it.
Speaker 2 (01:00:56):
Alabama Crimson TI, twenty seventh, twenty five pm. The infection,
The infection from the Alabama football account. All right, we
did you know Tennessee loss. That's why Jackie boys back
there paying his dad season all Alabama gear. We did
stream that game. I wish there was more anger and
(01:01:18):
more passion during that stream.
Speaker 1 (01:01:19):
Too, y Garrett when they were making plays. I needed
the Garrett that I've seen when he watches Alabama football games.
And I get it. He's being respectful. It's probably very hard.
You're sitting there with your best friend. We knew we wanted. Hey,
this stream, we get all eyes on teams that we
have more than one fan on, and we get to
kind of watch from afar. These guys be in the
(01:01:42):
same room, and I want to see the passion that
we know that they have, cheering, yelling, whatever it is.
I'm not saying that we need to fake it, but
I know that there's stuff in there that they left
on the field that they didn't put out.
Speaker 2 (01:01:54):
The argument you're making right now is essentially this stream
kind of was faked because it wasn't authentical how everybody
was truly feeling that moment. There was a lot of time.
Speaker 1 (01:02:02):
But there was like too much just respect. There's there's
personal buying and personal equity with these guys. But when
I'm sitting there and I'm trying to ask questions, and
I'm like, I know Jack's beating.
Speaker 3 (01:02:13):
Down and I've done I shared every question you asked.
Speaker 1 (01:02:16):
Yeah, yeah, and yeah yeah, But I'm what I'm saying
is like just that I was sitting there when it
was Oregon Penn State going on, and you're kind of
watching the Bama Georgia game, and I'm seeing some stuff
that like I want that going on in front of them,
and I know it like opens a wound and everything else.
And when I was sitting there and I ended up
asking Chef the question of how you feeling right now
(01:02:36):
with the game coming on because we're kind of sitting
there in silence a little bit, and he just didn't
have an answer. I didn't want to do to do
it to Jackie Boy, I kind of picked shots every
now and then he'll look back and I know when
it gets going to more like Nebraska and everything else,
I'm like, Okay, I know Jack's worked up. I don't
want him to think I'm doing that just to continue
to like, hey, Jackie boy, how are you feeling about
this one? Because I know where that that line gets.
(01:02:58):
I wanted to ask chef. Chef didn't have anything to say,
and they didn't speak. Then, guys, where's where's I need
some manger? I need some I need to know how
you're really feeling in this moment.
Speaker 2 (01:03:07):
There needs to be a sign on like the stream
room doors, kind of like football, Hey, you leave it
on the field, Like if you get a fight with
your boy at practice when you go in the locker room,
Hey wrap up my bad, my bad, and you move on.
We didn't have a sign that like content doesn't care
about your feelings. Be authentic.
Speaker 1 (01:03:22):
That needs to Matt's doing his best. He's put on
the path.
Speaker 2 (01:03:26):
Great job.
Speaker 8 (01:03:27):
That was the most emotional one.
Speaker 2 (01:03:30):
That was more for vibes than he was, like truly
caring about the game.
Speaker 1 (01:03:33):
That was the way Bama was winning. I know she
had so much more feeling.
Speaker 2 (01:03:38):
You want to get.
Speaker 8 (01:03:41):
I'm like, Chef, there is a video of you on
Twitter being an absolute psycho.
Speaker 6 (01:03:46):
Where is that atam?
Speaker 4 (01:03:48):
And he's like, you know, I just didn't want to
let it out.
Speaker 2 (01:03:52):
Ye halftime.
Speaker 8 (01:03:53):
I'm like saying, Chef, this is a stream, like you
need to be doing this, And he's like, you know,
anything I said would have wanted to say. I can't say, oh, camera,
It's like no, you can't. Like we're doing this is
a low risk environment.
Speaker 1 (01:04:04):
I feel like all the content we do, I feel
like streaming is our lowest risk.
Speaker 6 (01:04:07):
Speaking for a show.
Speaker 7 (01:04:09):
I texted him that night. I also I wanted to
text the groom be like, yo, sorry, didn't bring the
best content, perspective energy there, but there were so many mistakes.
It's like that was our most authentic fal self. Like
it's very hard for us to just like sit there
while we're getting our ass b we're making horrible play
calls and then also just like be monkeys in a cage.
(01:04:32):
Like I know that we could have been more, but
like that's what you guys are asking us to be,
like to shell out like our fandom, to like be
like fucking streaming at Garrett. Garrett and I have a
very mutual respect for our fandom. It's hard for me
and him to get at it because we know how
much like it could seriously endanger our friendship if we
(01:04:52):
took it that level, and we just don't. Garrett has
been in kneeling before when Alabama is lost and is
the most gracious loser. And unfortunately I had sixteen years
in a row where we watch Alabama just fucking destroy
our lives.
Speaker 1 (01:05:08):
I hated.
Speaker 7 (01:05:08):
I hated. That's how it went down. It felt like
this stream sucked because of Chef and I and I'll
take full accountability for that. It's just like I hated
the environment. I know that work comes first, and I
told you this before, and I was like, I never
in a million years wanted to stream that game because
I get so just like in my head, like I'd
(01:05:29):
be doing that at my house or like with my friend,
just like silent raging in my head. It's I don't know,
it's so hard emotionally to like try and understand and like, hey,
you know, Tennessee's one thing, but like this is your job.
You get health insurance and you're paid for this, But
I Tennessee fandom.
Speaker 2 (01:05:50):
Jack, I understand what you're saying. Here's what I've kind
of realized is we go to look at the leadership
in the room, and I think it comes to you
and me in those situations of poking the bear and
stoking the fire.
Speaker 1 (01:06:03):
I mean, I ain't taking accountability.
Speaker 2 (01:06:12):
Yeah, I think it's like, I think we need to
stream the Florida Tennessee game after what's transpired on this bust. Yeah,
I think that is that maybe the move and it's
really on whoever doesn't have to in the game too.
People got to know we're gonna poke the bear a
little bit, We're gonna we're gonna get in. If it
(01:06:34):
the other way, we'd have to come out, you ge.
That's just kind of how it has to be from
now on because we know it's in there.
Speaker 3 (01:06:39):
It's I think I think from my point of view
during the stream was it's, uh, obviously you want to
be locked in, and it is that there isn't always
that fear, especially with this game, of like it's not
over until it's over. And so even with the pick
six happens, and I did punch the Kevin's fridge, so
(01:07:00):
I think I showed my emotion there. Maybe I should
have tackled it all the way to the ground for
you guys. But there is that sense of and I
said it in the locker room, stay focused and fucking
finished the job. And that was my pure vibe the
entire time I stood up and cheered.
Speaker 1 (01:07:16):
It's not like, yeah, you're on the team. You gotta
until there's that clock zero.
Speaker 2 (01:07:20):
I'm sure I feel you.
Speaker 3 (01:07:23):
I'm locked in.
Speaker 2 (01:07:24):
Yeah, I got it.
Speaker 3 (01:07:25):
There's no talking in between plays. Line up for the
next NAP.
Speaker 2 (01:07:28):
Tentatively we'll be streaming the Florida Tennessee game. Okay, Arizona State.
They upset Texas Tech. My thoughts on that game, didn't
see a whole lot of it. I know Sam Levitt
had a hell of a game. You throw like three
and sixty yards. I mean, that's a blip for Texas Tech.
I think they're gonna turn around. They're gonna mow down
the rest of the rest of the competition. There's a
chance they see Arizona State in the Bight twelve Championship.
Speaker 1 (01:07:48):
I kind of have to by undefeated right now.
Speaker 2 (01:07:51):
BUYU is undefeated. But they play I believe they still
play Texas Tech and a couple other ones as well.
Like they have a very backloaded schedule. It's where it's
like b yu b utah, which is one of the
parts of the backload schedule. But shout sick yeah, Red
and Blue across the board man, Yeah, pull up that
BYU schedule because it is they got a nasty little
(01:08:12):
thing coming up. Let's see, they got I always stay,
never never count out Rock Obeck and Matt Campbell. Then
you got Texas Tech TCU had Cincinnati tc usable Ball Club,
and then UCF right there. So I don't know what's
gonna happen in BYU. I know that a su've kind
of put themselves in. Can you throw up a SU
(01:08:33):
schedule just real quick. We'll move on to the next game,
because I feel like SU the kind of the conversation
I think Josh Pate talked about on his show last night.
He was breaking down, like there's a chance we see
both these teams again in the Big Twelve Championship because
as U. Let's see, they got Houston, I always stay,
I always stay at West Virginia, Colorado, Arizona. Like, yeah,
(01:08:54):
they have a much easier back half schedule. You can
see them sneaking back into that Big Twelve championship yet again,
still at Iowa State. That's a scary one. That's a
scary one. Texas Tech. They're played Oklahoma State, poor Coop,
Kansas State poor will uh B y u U s
(01:09:14):
U c F in West Virginia. So all winnable games.
I see Texas Tech mopping from here.
Speaker 1 (01:09:20):
On Cincinnati schedule, I think they have a pretty too.
Speaker 2 (01:09:24):
I mean, they gotta play b YU, right, was that
the one we just saw. Let's see Cincinnati's got Baylor, Utah,
Arizona b y U at home though. Yeah, that's not
big twelve man wide open in the world. We're kind
(01:09:44):
of sitting in right now at the big twelve twelve team.
You go back, let's see Georgia Tech. Yeah, listen, Georgia
Tech beat Duke. I have no idea why Duke is
favored in some of these games. They were a favorite
early in the years Illinois that was easy pickings, and
then their favorite against Tech. It's just crazy. It's just crazy,
(01:10:05):
like what do we what?
Speaker 6 (01:10:06):
What?
Speaker 2 (01:10:06):
What is these sport books? Seeing sport books? What is
fandels seeing that? We're not saying when it comes to Duke,
because clearly we're seeing the field a little bit better.
Speaker 6 (01:10:15):
Yeah, yeah, many ds. He needs to cut his hair,
he needs to switch up to juju for that team. Yeah,
I'm seeing it going on. This is just probably where
it starts. This is this is where it starts.
Speaker 1 (01:10:26):
Right here. We got to buzz ahead.
Speaker 2 (01:10:28):
We talked to We talked to Marcus Freeman about the
win against US.
Speaker 1 (01:10:32):
I do think it's crazy. I saw the eight people
come out. I think it's wild that USC is not
ranked anymore and it fell all the way out. They
fell out. Yeah, LSU is still ranked.
Speaker 2 (01:10:42):
Yeah, they dropped a bunch USC. You have Michigan's now
twenty five, which is I like it because it's my school.
But I'm also like, if you're to pull USC right.
Speaker 1 (01:10:52):
If you're going to keep Michigan at twenty five like USC,
like we we should, it's twenty four to twenty three,
it doesn't matter. Like I think it's crazy that they
felt out because there are two losses of what Illinois,
who's now ranked, which is good, but their two losses
being at Illinois and at Notre Dame. Notre Dame one
of the best teams, you know, climbing up to be
one of the best teams in the country. Again. Yeah,
I did think it was crazy that US kind of
(01:11:13):
fell out of the top twenty five because I still
think US is a good football.
Speaker 2 (01:11:16):
Team, great football team, really good football.
Speaker 1 (01:11:18):
Team, tough to win at South Bend.
Speaker 2 (01:11:20):
Special elements, Yeah, the rain, all that.
Speaker 6 (01:11:22):
Jeremy Love was destined to go off.
Speaker 2 (01:11:25):
Yeah, let's talk about October. Someone in the pre production
meeting said, is it Coctober or a South Carolina just
asked if somebody to do that on the bus, sitting
on the bus right now, now is the time to
come clean?
Speaker 5 (01:11:38):
Oh wow, that was me, the Florida Gators fan.
Speaker 6 (01:11:41):
I did right that.
Speaker 2 (01:11:45):
For twenty four hours already given the Gator fans.
Speaker 1 (01:11:47):
Have to defend this though.
Speaker 5 (01:11:49):
JP and I we have talked before the season started,
and he was talking about South Carolina all this stuff,
and I think I said many times, I think South
Carolina is really going to let you down this year.
And now the real question is will they even make
a bowl game? I think that is a fair question
to ask.
Speaker 2 (01:12:06):
That's a fair question.
Speaker 5 (01:12:07):
How many wins will South Carolina end the season with.
I think we should go around and find out what
everyone thinks.
Speaker 1 (01:12:11):
What's their schedule?
Speaker 6 (01:12:12):
Can you pull it up at Alabama this week, we
got Old missed. The next week we have A and
M and then we play Coast to Carolina and Clemson.
What's your record right now?
Speaker 1 (01:12:21):
We're three and four, So eight and four, and who
are the next three opponents?
Speaker 6 (01:12:26):
Bama, Ole, miss A and M Coastal and then Clemson.
Speaker 1 (01:12:32):
I think you get the.
Speaker 2 (01:12:33):
Last two Now, Old missing at a M on the road.
Speaker 1 (01:12:37):
I don't think you need a bowl game. You beat Clemson.
Speaker 6 (01:12:39):
There you go. We're throwing it back to the old days.
Speaker 1 (01:12:43):
Trust me.
Speaker 2 (01:12:44):
Season saves with a Clemson win.
Speaker 1 (01:12:46):
I am hoping for an upset and one of these
next three would love to see it. It's just miss win.
Speaker 4 (01:12:52):
Just start trying to ruin seasons.
Speaker 2 (01:12:54):
Yeah, the Florida head coach, they all quit on them.
Speaker 7 (01:12:57):
You get one of those three, and I think y'all
get Coastal and then I feel like y'all just dog
Clemson like y'all were born to do.
Speaker 1 (01:13:05):
This is the sneak Alabama this week at home.
Speaker 6 (01:13:08):
The issue is we have we have five O linemen out.
Hoping me maybe some of them come back, but we're
missing five O linemen. Dylan Stewart got hurt last week.
Linebacker got hurt when you're missing your whole starting O line. Yeah,
because the left tackle he.
Speaker 1 (01:13:24):
Got hurt this past week and Dylan Stewart.
Speaker 6 (01:13:27):
And Dylan Stewart, you're you're pretty depleted. And the number
one frustration from Gamecock fans is offensive play calling because
it's like you see all of these teams with similar
talent just moving the ball all the time. You see
Diego Pavia run nuts on everyone. It's like, you cannot
tell me that Leonora Sellers cannot do what Diego Pavia
(01:13:48):
is doing. So that's the frustrating part. But I was
telling Taylor before, I was like, this truly is maybe
this is the year to make making a bowl game
great again because growing up, this reminds me of all
my seasons in Elms Henry School. We would go into
the Clemson game pretty much at five wins. It's like,
we beat Clemson, we're in the bowl game, and we
win that bowl game, it's up next season, and the
(01:14:10):
bowl game had so much weight to it. At the
lunch room table, you're fighting for it. Like in elementary school.
I don't think we ever beat Clemson, but there was
always a chance. But it's just like that we're throwing
it back. This is a five fandom year where we're
fighting for that Bowl game. I'm here for the fight.
Speaker 2 (01:14:30):
Every week.
Speaker 6 (01:14:33):
I'll be at the Alabama game. G may or may
not be there, but I'm gonna do whatever I can
to will.
Speaker 1 (01:14:39):
This team to victory.
Speaker 6 (01:14:40):
Yeah, yeah, I mean, I'm yeah. They want to know
with me there this year, but if they gave me
the opportunity, I will speak to every single player individually
if I needed to.
Speaker 1 (01:14:49):
Yeah, start getting them.
Speaker 2 (01:14:52):
Just line them up outside of an office. You're just
in there.
Speaker 6 (01:14:56):
I'm willing to do whatever whatever I can, sticking to
the se.
Speaker 1 (01:15:00):
See, we got a college game day in the fall,
don't lie tour at Missouri at Vanderbilt this weekend, big.
Speaker 2 (01:15:06):
Game, massive game.
Speaker 1 (01:15:10):
Yeah, for the guys that are in town. That'd be
a fun game to go to. Dude, like the ot
between Missoon and Auburn and seeing that, seeing the ballplayer,
seeing Missoo's guy just talking ship to Auburn and then
go and get a sack and and tackle for loss.
I loved it, bro, he was on fire, on fire,
on fire.
Speaker 4 (01:15:29):
That's gonna I.
Speaker 6 (01:15:30):
Have no idea who's gonna win that one.
Speaker 1 (01:15:31):
I don't either. I don't either because Missoo's tough, Vanderbilts tough.
Speaker 3 (01:15:35):
I think they're gonna do game day on Broadway.
Speaker 1 (01:15:39):
You know, mcfiel have that place.
Speaker 3 (01:15:43):
It's gonna be nuts.
Speaker 2 (01:15:45):
Yeah, it'll be interesting if if Vanderbilt beats Missouri, it's
gonna have to become Cad McConnell Vanderbilt hate week for me,
the last week in November, all that ball stuff on
the terrified about what my wall it's gonna look like
if them boys pull that off.
Speaker 1 (01:16:02):
Whoever wins, it's their one losses to Bama. Yeah, yeah,
they're one losses to Bama. God try. Now Bama looks
like the best I won't say the best team in
the SEC. Gotta still give credit to Texas A and M.
They're still undefeated right now and taking care of business.
But Bama looks really good. It's like them and A
and M are the front runners. Yeah, is nice, and
(01:16:22):
A and M is.
Speaker 2 (01:16:23):
Nice about Georgia, man, I feel them making George.
Speaker 1 (01:16:26):
Is there, but they're just on you know, the loss
to Bama.
Speaker 2 (01:16:30):
Yeah, you say four four ranked wins in a row
with full ranked wins in a row for.
Speaker 3 (01:16:36):
Bour ranked wins in a row two on the road.
Speaker 1 (01:16:39):
Wait till wait till they play and they keep that?
Can they keep that going against an unranked South Carolina?
Damn yeah, sec, I'll over the secs at with the
big twelve sec like it's gonna get fun.
Speaker 3 (01:16:53):
We have the beginning of the season. You looked at
our schedule, we had Tennessee South Carolina. I think he
goes Oklahoma, LSU and then Auburn and now unfortunately, like
LSU isn't very good, Oklahoma's wishy washy ls.
Speaker 1 (01:17:11):
You've been on. They are for man, We'll.
Speaker 3 (01:17:13):
See how we can finish it out.
Speaker 2 (01:17:16):
They're like what you see at the end of the year, buddy,
dive into what it's a big ten ball. Yeah, we
taught big ten ball all quickly go. I took my
daughter to the Michigan Washington game. I was very nervous
about this game because Washington's one loss came to Ohio State,
who is seems like the most complete team in all
coll college football right now. And uh, I mean Washington
(01:17:37):
comes back against Maryland. I think it was like twenty
four unanswered points in the fourth quarter. When they're in Maryland.
The quarterbacks elite, the running back is awesome that they
have that wide receiver Boston, So I'm like they have
a lot of offensive firepower. And after watching them versus USC,
watching Michigan versus USC the week before, I'm wondering what
we're gonna see Justice. Hey, as I see him on Friday,
(01:17:58):
he's doing He's put a little some then on his
shoulder pads, and my, hey, we going this week? Is
that we're gonna find out today? It's Friday, It's Friday afternoon.
He ends up not playing that game. So I was
very nervous our defense. That was it?
Speaker 1 (01:18:13):
That dude? We the fifteen.
Speaker 2 (01:18:16):
Quarterback Williams the quarterback for Washington. He's throwing one interception
all year. He threw three against Michigan. Seven seven. We
leave a lot of points off the board. We have
a fourth and one once you know, it dropped, took place,
and then we missed it. We missed a field goal.
So there's a lot of points and we're almost in
the red zoneer in field goal position on that fourth
and one second half, I mean Bryce Underwood five for
(01:18:38):
five on one drive sixty four yards. I was showing
JP a bunch of highlights when I got back during
that yem shit was juicing me up. That was his
best game. That was his guest game. Like he he
made some throws. I was just like I still am
like like recovering from last year. We couldn't throw the
ball at all. Anytime there's a completion, I'm like, oh,
just getting a little chubby. You're sitting there like this,
(01:19:00):
guys fucking unbelievable, and it's like a checkdown. I'm like,
we got them, we got one. But he had a couple.
Both tight ends are out, our starting tight end and
our second string tight end was out. Our third string
tight end who's a junior, has like six catches for
eighty six yards. Bryce is threading the needle. That marsh
kid the one handed catch like and then Marshall the
backup running back. I was one hundred and thirty six yards.
(01:19:20):
Like it was one of those games you like watch
You're like, this is an offensive. This is an offense
that you play like this, you can beat anybody. That
defense like you were getting home with four. We're not
blitzing every single play. It's sparingly, it's tasteful. They're disguising
and it was like you walk with from that game
and it's like that every week. Yeah, do that every week.
As low as vibes were were after the USC were,
(01:19:42):
I'm thinking to myself, you know, maybe I don't know
about washing and shit, I don't know about Maryland. I
don't know about some of these schools. I feel good
about Ohio State as always.
Speaker 1 (01:19:49):
But conversations worse starting to come up about Michigan.
Speaker 2 (01:19:52):
Yeah, and Searan Moore, And now it's like, keep me
on the roller coaster, any other ro coasters. Now I'm
feeling as high as I possibly could be.
Speaker 1 (01:20:00):
And there was a I don't know his name, but
it's like I want to say he was a backup
quarterback last year for Michigan, and he was on some
show or podcast talking about the culture and it's a
lot of finger pointing and you're kind of seeing it
come to fruition.
Speaker 2 (01:20:13):
I saw a tweet about that. You you know, you were
talking to me about that. Hell, it seems like Chearon's lost.
The locker room.
Speaker 1 (01:20:18):
Lost a lot somebody.
Speaker 2 (01:20:20):
It was Saturday night when I when I got back
from the game, and there was a conversation. I know
it might not be new, but somebody was like, yeah,
I'm good, I'm glad you guys had that game, because
I saw reports that like Chearon's lost the locker room.
Speaker 1 (01:20:32):
I think it was coming from that that backup Q
that was on the team. No, No, it wasn't Orgy.
It wasn't Orgy.
Speaker 2 (01:20:42):
Yeah, fuck him. You know what I'm saying, Like you
there's a reason why you left, buddy, that's not It's
not for everybody when it comes to the Mazing Blue.
So it was for me a game just to watch
and like be like wow, that was a really Yes,
it was from that.
Speaker 1 (01:20:55):
It was from that account to what what was that
account that posted that they're posting stuff on Reddit or.
Speaker 3 (01:21:00):
Something like that, Clayton Safety.
Speaker 1 (01:21:03):
Yeah, but what was the account that sharing it? Because
that's where I also saw the video. Yeah, yeah, that's
a kind of it's like an Illuminati, same account the market, dude,
right there, Go up, go up. Jack Tuttle, Damn Jack
Damn Tuttle. Yeah, I know, bro, one year out King
(01:21:26):
Tutt a little tut talking crazy playing now, he said
former Michigan quarterback Jack Tuttle. Enterprise players are pointing fingers
at coaches and arguing with one another. He even admits
that it happened last year under Sharan Moore.
Speaker 2 (01:21:39):
Hashtag noticing ever, Yeah, really easy to sit in the
zoom with a collared shirt on and say me nasty
things that the program you can't affect.
Speaker 1 (01:21:49):
That's a tough look when you're out. That is a
tough look.
Speaker 6 (01:21:52):
That's bitterness.
Speaker 2 (01:21:55):
That's a tough look.
Speaker 1 (01:21:56):
But just like you got boys on.
Speaker 6 (01:21:58):
The squad, like what are you doing? What are you
hoping to get from that? Right?
Speaker 1 (01:22:01):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:22:01):
Exactly, Like, yeah, you know all the guys that are
on that football team besides the freshman anyways, regardless, Hey, yeah, it's.
Speaker 1 (01:22:10):
Like those are still all your teammates.
Speaker 2 (01:22:12):
Yeah, regardless of how things have gone from Michigan this year,
these guys are they're living, eating, and breathing it every
single day where like this is, this is. They're so
zoomed into it. They believe in they're gonna win every
single game by fifty points. But you know what, we
need guys like Tuttele We need them because now, right now,
it's a little brother week. We've opened up at thirteen
and a half point favorites versus Michigan State, Big statement game, Texas.
(01:22:34):
Sharona said, this is a game you're up by twenty one.
Speaker 1 (01:22:35):
You go for two.
Speaker 2 (01:22:37):
This is one of those games.
Speaker 6 (01:22:38):
It's time to cover, Time to cover.
Speaker 1 (01:22:40):
Yeah, time to cover.
Speaker 2 (01:22:42):
Hey covered this week. So that was nice. But overall, man,
I was like a very uplifting Saturday. Awesome to have
a willow there. It was a great time. You ready.
Speaker 1 (01:22:55):
Yeah, look all eyes on Northwestern. That was a bad game.
That was a bad game against men. So hats off
to Minnesota. They had an incredible I'll obviously do the
coach speak game plan, but they shoved it. They rowed
the boats up our asses in that second half. It
was tough. I'm still healing from it. I started Friday morning.
I weighed myself. I was two seventeen. I got on
(01:23:16):
the scale last night after the weekend was over. I'm
two twenty five. I've added eight pounds. I've ate ice
cream four days in a row. I'm currently still healing.
But now we go to work. Now it's Monday. Now
it's time to work. Yeah, because the world doesn't give
a fuck. Dude, all the noise that was happening last week.
It sucks because people gonna be like, oh, this was
definitely a distraction everything. People are gonna you know, the
(01:23:37):
world's gonna be as loud as ever around Nebraska, and
we played a bad game. JP was talking like, why
can't we look like some of these offenses going around.
I just see some of these quarterbacks who have you know,
some who have enough time to throw the ball around.
I'm thinking, why can't our offensive lind do that? But
I'm not gonna get in that just negativity mentality, because
no matter what, you have to go back to work
(01:23:58):
this week. You have to. You know, we're playing Northwestern.
We need to beat their ass because again I know
that that game of touff. You see Dylan after the
game just taking all the accountability. Look it starts with me.
That was a tough game and just all the players
feeling pissed off about it. You know that sucked because
they went in before that week started and said, hey,
we want to wear the all whites. We know we
kind of have the curse or we have a bad record.
(01:24:20):
I want to say Riola and the boys and went in,
hey we want to wear the all whites. Got all
the noise going on with coach rule throughout that entire week,
and they wanted to right or wrong and felt like
this culture everybody talks about how the feeling around this team,
it's just a different vibe, it's a different mentality. We're
three and one in one score games going into that
game against Minnesota and we had a very bad showing,
and part of me, it's that that little bit creeps
(01:24:43):
in of being five and tune. You're at that midway point,
is it, you know, hopefully, like this is like all
hands on deck. You gotta get this bad taste out
of your mouth and put an ass whooping on Northwestern
because of not It's like, fuck, man, is this about
to you know? Are we just gonna be iffy throughout
the rest of the season. I don't think we will.
I think we have a good football team. We have
to figure it out at the line of scrimmage. We
(01:25:04):
can't let teams run the football as well as Minnesota
is doing it in that second half against US, And
so it's just it's just one of those ones like
I'm there with JP. I'm gonna find every which way
I can turn over every stone and will this team
to victory this weekend. It gets Northwestern because it's got
to be an asshopen. This is a massive How are
you going to respond after a game like that for Nebraska?
Speaker 2 (01:25:24):
Is this game home or away?
Speaker 1 (01:25:26):
I believe it's home.
Speaker 2 (01:25:28):
Is there a chance that will come? Oh you have
to go to Sleepy Hall this weekend?
Speaker 1 (01:25:32):
Yeah, I gotta go.
Speaker 2 (01:25:33):
It's a perfect game for will comf to take a
solo mission. Maybe just take RU and go to Lincoln
and just be boots on the ground.
Speaker 1 (01:25:41):
Roof can't go to a game like that. That's where
I should see a different version of her. Old man,
you know what I mean?
Speaker 6 (01:25:46):
But this is this is Monday. Is this what I
call mirror Monday? And this is what I hope is
going on in South Carolina locker room, and I hope
it's going on in Nebraska's locker room. When you show
up and you go to put your paths on, you
open up your locker. I want the coach to put
a mirror in there so every single player can look
themselves in the eye and say, am I who I
say I am? And am I becoming who I'm supposed
(01:26:08):
to be?
Speaker 1 (01:26:09):
I love?
Speaker 6 (01:26:10):
You can't answer that question. Get out of the locker room.
I just came up with that off top.
Speaker 1 (01:26:17):
Did you get my piss hot young man?
Speaker 3 (01:26:19):
Hell?
Speaker 1 (01:26:20):
Yeah, Monday, Mere Monday. Bro, I'm with you, because that
was tough. I went into halftime and again it's like
you see all the you know, the second people love
to talk about and post about the negativity going on,
but I'm like, all right, at the end of the day,
we had to we put ourselves in touch situations, whether
sacks or penalties. When we got into scoring position, took
(01:26:41):
three points instead of seven. They did pop one long
run on us, So I'm thinking to myself, they popped
one play on us at seven to six. Do I
wish we were up that it was fourteen and seven? Absolutely,
but it's like, let's come out of the second half
and let's go to work, and dude, Minnesota, just one
play at a time. Bro. We got one where Archie
Archie Wilson puts it on the one yard line, Eckler's
fired up, We pin him back on the one yard line,
(01:27:04):
and they go like fifteen seventeen plays ninety nine yards.
Speaker 9 (01:27:07):
Bro.
Speaker 1 (01:27:08):
And even when we could get up the fielding those
fourth and short and they go for it and we
get a defensive pass interference and you're just like, fuck man.
And then slowly but surely, I just started to have
that feeling I'm like, fuck, boys, we're running at a
time here, like we got to start making some hay
and it just didn't happen.
Speaker 2 (01:27:22):
Hey.
Speaker 1 (01:27:23):
And by the way, that that linebacker for Minnesota had
that a gap blitz and my boy, my boy, Emma Johnson,
and Emma didn't shy away from it. It just didn't
go his way in that a gap.
Speaker 2 (01:27:35):
And that's when you pull up and be like, as
a coach, you show Emma Johnson that and be like,
I know you don't want to see this clip, but
you gotta take a lot of pride and you put
in your face in that you're out the guys come
up the head full of steam.
Speaker 1 (01:27:47):
Buddy's gonna wake ways.
Speaker 2 (01:27:48):
He's got a neckroll on no fair Dodgs and this
dude's coming right down the middle, and listen, we gotta
find a way to have it. Is that a linebacker
play that I'm sure you dreamed about, and I'm sure
a lot of linebackers room about. Yeah, but everyone gets
go that's one play.
Speaker 1 (01:28:01):
I watched and I'm like, I had a nice rush
by old boy.
Speaker 2 (01:28:04):
Yeah, even even while you're in mental health, Yeah, yeah, yeah, David, listen,
I was with Friday night day with Dave. While the
game's taking place, I'm putting Willow to sleep. I come
back out. Dave's like two and a half three rum
and diet coke deeep, And I taught him on the film.
I was like secretly filming him and he's like, we
got a text swell. I'm like, Dave, I'm telling you
(01:28:26):
right now, this is not the time. And I started
to film because I was gonna tweet a little video
of Dave Minnesota. He's a Minnesota alumni talking about you know,
if nobody's ever watched football before, they'd be like, what's
the big deal with this all? With this white and
red team, like saying all these things. I have the
video and I'm like, I'm like, I literally I literally
thought about you. And I was like, I can't do
(01:28:46):
this to will right now.
Speaker 1 (01:28:47):
But it's your dad doing it. It's kind of it's funny.
And I'm like, I'm wanting to get Dave lawan after that.
Speaker 2 (01:28:53):
But because he was Dave was talking crazy, you know,
like he's talking about Minnesota. I'm thinking, you guys haven't
been good ever, what are you talking about?
Speaker 1 (01:29:04):
They were good that night?
Speaker 2 (01:29:07):
Number zero, that defensive end he's good. Now, that's a
good defensive end from Minnesota.
Speaker 1 (01:29:12):
I highly doubt any team in America beats Minnesota on
Friday night. That Friday night, they looked good. They looked
good even when they're getting coverage, sacks, like they did
a great job taken away basically everything we wanted to do.
Hats off to him, Hats off to PJ Fleck, Hats
off to the Minnesota Gophers. I was talking a little
shit before that game started. You pushed it down my throat,
(01:29:33):
and you guys know where my house is. Like I
thought about going and laying on the railroad tracks after
the game.
Speaker 6 (01:29:39):
Yeah, I now understand the purchase more.
Speaker 2 (01:29:42):
Yeah, I mean will like he said, if we lose,
like text me and make sure I'm good. If I
don't respond, like, come to my house, I'm in an Arboro.
I send you a text, thought some prayers were with
the Compton family. Love you. No response, I'll wake up
Saturday morning. I'm thinking, is he gone? Is he with us?
Speaker 1 (01:30:00):
I took that as you patted me on it.
Speaker 2 (01:30:03):
At some point, well, hold on, at some point, dude,
you've got to realize if it's not Michigan Nebraska, I
am rooting for you in Nebraska at some point that's
got to change in your head a little bit because
I'm not pat of you on the head.
Speaker 1 (01:30:17):
It can't why I don't know the same reason that
the same reason I did my video, And I'm like,
I should be happy with the life that I have,
but I'm not, Like there's something that's just in my
brain that it just I don't think I'll go that way?
Speaker 2 (01:30:35):
Can I? Is there anything I can do for you
to realize and for the Nebraska players who watched this
who like basically called me a piece of shit before
the Michigan Nebraska game, not realizing I played football there, Like,
what can I do for you as your friend to
where you know that I'm on your side? Is it
not to talk to you at all about Nebraska other
than on the show?
Speaker 6 (01:30:54):
Is it?
Speaker 1 (01:30:56):
You know? I I don't know. If I had that answer,
I would have tried to community.
Speaker 2 (01:31:00):
Is it possibly the competition taking place where I'm like
truly trying to look at you in the eyes as hey, buddy, Yeah,
I'm rooting for you guys. Like there's some fun things
we have to do in the show, like Matt Rule
to Penn State, like I gotta bring that up because
that is the show we have your friend, I'm your friend.
I know he is, but he's like, I'm not patting
you on the head. I'm not Dave Portenal. I know
(01:31:20):
there's times earlier today, I'm like that play we was
talking about Kay McConnell, I'm like that play that took
place with forty nine. It's like, that's a good football player.
Like what are you doing?
Speaker 6 (01:31:29):
Like I do this.
Speaker 1 (01:31:30):
You might have to bring that out of nowhere for
zero reason.
Speaker 2 (01:31:32):
Because it's football porn. The subject to was football porn.
I was like, it's similar to and I'm not even
trying to but that's a similar play. You just said
that's a great football play.
Speaker 1 (01:31:40):
Yeah, but at that moment you took out a pocket
knife and slipped it in me.
Speaker 6 (01:31:44):
You know what I'm saying, Persons that happen over the
course of like being a Nebraska fan a South Carolina fan,
that it's like wounds healed, but scars don't.
Speaker 1 (01:31:54):
Like the scar is there, And I can tell you
what you are on a roll now, I get what.
Speaker 2 (01:32:03):
I get it. And I felt that when the whole
Nebraska Michigan thing took place, this year and when you
picked Nebraska and your your meaning was, Hey, I'm gonna
go roll with the home team. I know a piece
of you were still thinking about South Carolina Tennessee from
a couple of years ago. When I sat there and
took Tennessee.
Speaker 6 (01:32:17):
I know that it has nothing to do with your
decision experience.
Speaker 2 (01:32:21):
I understand, it's.
Speaker 1 (01:32:23):
Just moments you yeah, yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (01:32:27):
Can't because my school, because my school.
Speaker 6 (01:32:30):
No, I'm saying, you're not doing anything wrong. It's it
has nothing to do with you. It's all it's all here.
It's all internal. It's all the battles that we've been through.
Speaker 2 (01:32:38):
Right, the battles you've been through. I'm over here with
my sword and my shield saying guys, I'm with you. Hey,
cock tober We're like, it's too late, and I'm saying,
that's what therapy is for. That's a therapy can help
both y'all.
Speaker 1 (01:32:52):
But to go to therapy, the other person also has
to want to go to therapy. I don't want to
go to therapy.
Speaker 2 (01:32:58):
So you want to sit there in every single fall
for here on out. You want when I talk about
in the breast, like, man, I wish you guys got that,
and you're like fucking piece of ship. Pat me on
the head again. It's like, no, bro, I'm literally thinking
about you. Friday after I put my child, I'm thinking
to myself, I hope my best friend's okay.
Speaker 1 (01:33:11):
I know, but there's things that you've said and done
that just you can't take back.
Speaker 2 (01:33:15):
Similar to I can't wait for Michigan to fall, Like
you know, I'm praying on your guys downfall. I heard
all you said, all those things to you.
Speaker 1 (01:33:21):
I think I said that one time, he said, when
again I was bleeding the knife. I was bleeding and
I was still holding knife. You no matter what you
go to it, say we go seven and five, you're
gonna be hey. Beginning of the year, I was saying,
you guys should be happy about this. That is right there,
right there.
Speaker 2 (01:33:36):
That right there, to me, I'm still saying, like, listen
that it were showing growth. But if you're because you're
sitting there is you're the most unrealistic fan. No, no, no,
I'm not digging. I'm telling the true again to listen
to me.
Speaker 1 (01:33:49):
You're not wanting to listen to Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:33:52):
If you're talking about digging, it's because you're in the
same position. I'm telling you, guys, hey, if you go better,
have a better record from last year, that's called getting
better as a program.
Speaker 1 (01:34:02):
So here's here's what's happening. In those moments. You're asking
how you can support me, and then you're also making
your own decisions on how you think you're support me.
I'm not responding the way you want to. I'm trying
to tell you, hey, here's how you support me. But
you continue to do that bullshit or you pat me
on the head. I'm not patting you on the head,
will but you are because I'm not doubt you.
Speaker 2 (01:34:20):
No, I'm not. That's your that's your medica. I'm literally saying, hey,
if you have a better record than the year before
than your team's gotten better, yes or no? Is that fact?
Speaker 6 (01:34:27):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:34:28):
Yes, no, yes.
Speaker 1 (01:34:29):
But also as you say that, that is fine that
you sit in that chair and you say that, but
don't come asking me how can I support you when
I'm trying to help you and you don't want to
take it.
Speaker 2 (01:34:38):
I know I'm supports you.
Speaker 1 (01:34:39):
Right now, It's done. We're done. We ain't going to therapy,
we ain't mended this.
Speaker 2 (01:34:44):
Sort give up on our football family, going on any time.
Speaker 1 (01:34:48):
It's like, hey, I love you, I'm thinking about the
confant to that, and I'm just gonna look, motherfucker. Don
or done.
Speaker 2 (01:34:58):
Dude. I can't sit there. It's like it's like you're
sitting there and you're like ten and two, eleven and one,
Big ten Championship playoffs.
Speaker 1 (01:35:10):
Listen, listen to me. Can we not now? I get it,
we just had a bad outing, right, but what like
the rest of our resume right now we're sitting in
five and two. You can't sit here and tell me
that I shouldn't expect us to stop you because US
is going to be a tough game.
Speaker 2 (01:35:27):
Let me stop you. Though I agree with everything you're saying.
I agree with that every game you have on your
schedule is winnable. USC is the one you kind of
put us on and you're like, I don't know about
that one. I am with you. I think you guys
can literally win out Tenant two is still right in
front of you. I agree. When we sat in the
beginning of the year, your team has gotten better, and
(01:35:49):
I said seven and five, you guys have gotten better.
That's okay to say. I'm sitting here now in the
middle of October late October, even saying will you guys
can win out and I belie leave you can now
listen to the words don't think about what I could be. Okay,
I'm saying the Nebraska Cornhuskers absolutely can go ten and
(01:36:11):
two without a doubt. Okay, full stop, end of sentence.
There's no patting on the head. USC's gonna be tough.
Penn State. Yeah, I always had your number, but I
went in a fucking ball cub that should be able
to hey out, Dylan Royola. They don't got pass rushers
is gonna get nine sacks in a game. You guys
can win that fucking game. I'm with you one hundred percent.
(01:36:35):
One hundred percent. What time is it?
Speaker 1 (01:36:37):
Heart rates in one o two? Here's what it is.
So if I don't believe it's gonna happen, but if
we were happening to be seven and five, right and
I'm pissed off about Nebraska, you ain't gonna sit there
and say that's a positive year. You're gonna understand that
we should be pissed off about being seven and five.
Speaker 2 (01:37:00):
Okay, let me finish everything I'm about to say before
you speak. The beginning of the year. I one hundred
percent believed seven and five is you guys have gotten better.
And that is just the reality the product I've seen
from the Nebraska Cornhuskers at this point. What is the
day today?
Speaker 1 (01:37:20):
October twentieth, ten twenty.
Speaker 2 (01:37:22):
Okay, if you guys end up seven and five, it's
a failure of a season at this point, because you
guys have put a great product in the field. Your
running back is leading the Big Ten in rushing even
though the guy that wasn't first place didn't play last week.
Your defense is a lot better. Rail is a great quarterback,
(01:37:43):
and if you can scheme up some things from a
protection standpoint, if you go seven and five, that is
a failure of a season. Absolutely, ten and two needs
to be the look at worst, nine and three. There's
no room for error at this point. There's no room
for error. Now you can speak no, you're on the
right track. Listen.
Speaker 1 (01:38:07):
Wait, I was waiting for it, wait for any body
in there, and I was gonna be yeah, exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:38:13):
And the intensity in your eyes, buddy, USC I can't
sit here looking in the eyes and be like you're
for sure gonna win that game.
Speaker 1 (01:38:20):
Look, there's things I need to see as well, because
I do think you has right.
Speaker 2 (01:38:23):
But you guys got Ucla, the UCLA down the stretch.
You got Northwestern this week, which just won nineteen zero
versus Purdue. You guys need to body bag Northwestern. You
guys can body bag Northwestern Iowa. Yeah, they've had your
number for what the last ten years? Eight two, in
the last ten years, nine and one. This is the
year we're flipping the script. This is the year we're
(01:38:46):
flipping the script. I am truly with you. So if
the unthinkable happens in one of these games and I
send you a text that says I'm thinking about you,
know that it's coming from a place of empathy and love.
Has nothing to do with patting you on the head.
That pats on the head happen when Michigan's on the schedule.
Michigan is no longer in the schedule. That game's gone,
it's done, it's over with, it's in the past. I'm
(01:39:09):
with you in the Huskers.
Speaker 1 (01:39:12):
No, I hear you know. I can't promise nothing on
how I receive this.
Speaker 2 (01:39:20):
You're much more in this where I am sitting a
couple of rooms away right now, and I can hear
the noise, but I'm not involved in the noise because
it's not my team. At the end of the day,
if anything happens, I'll be a bit of support. And
it's kind of like one of those things. I'll go
to you, I'll see your emotional state, and I'll be like,
this is where he wants to be. We can sit
in silence with each other for a little bit. There's
(01:39:40):
no there's no more of that we can get like
Matt rule, Depenn state. That's a real thing we gotta
worry about as Nebraska fans. Taylor done that.
Speaker 6 (01:39:51):
Appreciate y'all too.
Speaker 2 (01:39:53):
Press buddy, No, no, that, but that's that's also just real,
like we have to have real conversations as well.
Speaker 6 (01:40:01):
And no, it's still there.
Speaker 1 (01:40:04):
No, it is crazy, stabbed me again right after.
Speaker 2 (01:40:10):
It's truly, guys, it's just that that's a fear we have.
We have to sit there and look at But we
want the pressure to get loud. You want the noise
to get loud. Great, I'm not Yea. It's part of
the show where we have to talk about Nebraska. That's
one of the things happening in Nebraska, right.
Speaker 6 (01:40:23):
Billy Napier. It's in Nebraska is what the one that
was insane?
Speaker 2 (01:40:27):
What's insane? Is you going to a different gambling site
and quote tweeting it?
Speaker 1 (01:40:31):
I just you gotta you gotta call that bullshit out.
Another funny thing is Publics was on it.
Speaker 3 (01:40:36):
I saw that.
Speaker 1 (01:40:39):
All right, A fun show.
Speaker 2 (01:40:40):
We feel better?
Speaker 1 (01:40:41):
Yeah, yeah, fun show. Marcus Freeman coming up.
Speaker 9 (01:40:45):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:40:45):

subscribed to the channel, leave comments throughout. We love you,

I've treated my body like an apsolute sewer system. What
do I do? I throw at one of these Pima

in this T shirt. You find True Classic at Amazon

Play good. Let's get back to this episode. Well, there
was a situation we streamed Alabama, Tennessee. Your Game was
(01:43:47):
also on during that and after I got jopped off
my wife and kids because I just got back from
the Michigan game with my youngest daughter, and I hit
Will with the you know, hey, give me a ride home?
Essentially it was no. And then as Pepee was friends
that don't just get ubers for themsels when they can
afford to get ubers for themselves, and my pet Peeve
was friends that don't go with the extra mile of friends.
I just want to know what your stance on that
(01:44:09):
whole thing.
Speaker 1 (01:44:09):
Will talking about coach Freeman here, He's got to have
some more context. Taylor is notorious for not having a
vehicle asking for rides home. He knew that he wasn't
going to have a ride home, and it was honestly
the finish up of your guys' game against USC and
he waited until it was basically like ten forty to
start asking for rides home when he knew that everybody
(01:44:31):
was going to be up in arms because he's out
of the way to take home. And I'm thinking, Bro,
you're a grown man. You have the Uber app, like
you should just be you should just be asked for
an Uber because then when you say no, he like
guilt you or tries to make you feel sat and
so I'm saying no, bro, like that, you got to
take an uber home in that situation. You knew this
was going to happen. If you would have asked me,
like if you were coming in and it's like, hey,
(01:44:52):
the tailor's gonna drop me off and flying in from
the Michigan game, like, would you mind giving me a
ride home after the dream? I'm positive if you were
asking me that, I would have been like, yeah, I
can get you. He is right the last thing, and
then he's like walking to me. He's like hey, Will,
and I'm like, what's up. Bro? He's like, can I
get this right home? And I'm like, no, Bro, I'm
not giving you a right home.
Speaker 2 (01:45:12):
That's fair. Actually, the way he just spelt it out,
you don't even need to answer that question. Let's get
into it, huh showy, Yeah, dude. First off, we're gonna
give you another run of a plus. That was an
incredible win. A lot of people the nation after the
way USC played against my beloved Michigan Wolverines. People were like, hey,
we know US seas nine and a half point dogs
(01:45:33):
against Notre Dame, but we could see them beating them.
You guys rushed for over three hundred yards in that
game after going oh and to to start of the season, Like,
talk about this game plan, rain everything, Like, you guys
took it the adversity and you just kept motoring through.
Tell me about that.
Speaker 9 (01:45:51):
Yeah, I think going into it, you knew how talented
of a team they were, Like, this is a talented
football team. Obviously you saw what they did with Michigan
the week before. But we knew we were gonna have
to run the ball, Like that was non negotia, But
we were gonna have to run the ball. We knew
there was gonna be some weather, and and and our
guys up front blocked protected, did a really good job
(01:46:14):
and we were able to have some explosive games. And
then defensively we were gonna have to do two things.
We're gonna have to stop the run and make them
one dimensional because they've been able to throw in pass
the ball for over two hundred yards a game. And uh,
and then we knew we were gonna have to stop
number six like he is one of the best wide
receivers in the country, and so we had a plan
to do those things. They got yards, but we didn't
(01:46:36):
let him consistently run the ball on us, and we
stopped number six from beating us. And uh, you know,
our guys battled.
Speaker 1 (01:46:42):
Man.
Speaker 9 (01:46:42):
We said we had to make this one a bloody one,
and that's what we said going to the game. We're
gonna have to make this one to fight, and they're
gonna fight, but we're gonna have to continue to throw punches.
And our guys did a good job.
Speaker 1 (01:46:52):
Coach Freeman, you are you were a defensive mind. Talk
about how your defense has gotten better throughout the season.
Obviously you play a couple of tough games at the
top of Texas A and m and Miami and the playoff,
like all the speak of you know, these are clearly
Miami or Miami and Texas AM are good football teams.
Clearly they're toward the top. They're both in the top ten.
(01:47:13):
So you can sit there and talk about, you know, hey,
we give up this many points, but it's against quality teams.
But as a defensive mind yourself, when you're actually in
the defensive rooms and you're challenging your defense to get better,
how have you seen that progress throughout the season, because
you guys have been very opportunistic, especially in the second
half these last few games, getting as many interceptions as
you guys have talk about how you guys have kind
(01:47:34):
of challenged the defense not seen the game. Hey, yes,
they are a good football team. They put up you
know whatever, Miami and Texas and both score. But you
guys know in house like we are a better football
team than what we're showing.
Speaker 9 (01:47:45):
Yeah. I think that's the most important thing, as you
just stated, is you have to own the performance right
and that if we make excuses and we say here's what,
there's two trains of thoughts. You could say, Okay, we
lost the first game by three, law the second game
by one, or you can say, no, we were rowing
too and uh, we had to improve defensively, and our
(01:48:07):
guys owned it, which I knew they would they owned it.
Our coaches owned it. And when you own it, now
you can really have the capacity to understand there's answers,
there's things we have to do to get better. But
if we never own it and we start passing blame,
then there's no capacity to understand. We got to get better,
and so that's what they did. We had to coach better.
We had a couple young guys and new spots that
(01:48:29):
had to improve in and part of that improvement takes experience.
But we had to continue to create clarity amongst what
we're asking our guys to do, and uh then they've
been out being able to go out there and play
with some velocity that it takes to uh improve on defense.
Speaker 2 (01:48:47):
Talk to me about the growth of c J. Car
Mays his first start at the University of Miami. You
see flashes of like, oh, this kid can be very
special if he is he starts as a starting quarterback
going oh in too, and he seemed to be a
guy that now is someone you can actually lean on
when it comes to an offensive game plan. Standpoint. Talk
about CJ. Carr and how ridiculous it was at the
(01:49:09):
University of Michigan didn't offer him because his dad, his
grandfather's lot car.
Speaker 9 (01:49:14):
Yeah. I mean you go back to even when we
recruited him for a kid that grew up in in Arbor,
Michigan and uh you know has his last name and
the legacy for him to choose to go to Notre Dame. Uh,
it tells you a lot about who he is. He
is a unbelievable talented quarterback. But he has this trait
(01:49:34):
uh competitiveness leadership, uh that that very few people have.
And we probably put restraints surrounding the first half of
Game one and try and then that halftime we said, okay,
we got to let him run this offense and be
the quarterback and let him, uh let it fly with
the ball. And now you've seen the growth right his
his ability to really see what defenses are doing, put
(01:49:58):
our offense in the right position, run checks, pass checks, protections.
He has got a high ceiling and he is truly
elevating with urgency is what I like to tell him, Like,
you're getting better fast, and the challenge is continuously doing that, right,
how do I continuously find ways to improve? But there's
(01:50:19):
a lot of confidence in this program when you have CJ.
Car as your quarterback.
Speaker 1 (01:50:23):
Yeah, honestly has been impressive. Hopefully he's not listening to
this so he doesn't believe all the rat poison out there.
But to that point of the first game, it's like,
I remember I was favoring Notre Dame in the game,
thinking it's going to be trenches, it's gonna be run game,
defense is gonna show up. But when you watch that game,
it's like a couple of takeaways that I had, It's like, Yo,
this CJ. Car kid is honestly nice, Like Miami did
(01:50:44):
a good job shutting down the run and just seeing
how the offensive line, defensive line, how that game played out.
I remember walking away being like, yo, I think this CJ.
Car kid is going to be a dude, because correct
me if I'm wrong. He was in basically a QB
competition all the way up until the opener. I mean,
do you know that you were gonna have that out
of him because you talked about game plan at first,
Hey first have it kind of restricted him a little
(01:51:04):
bit and say, hey, we're gonna we're gonna need to
open him up. Were you what are the things like
the factor that you were seeing that you knew you
were probably gonna get with him when you did take
the training wheels off.
Speaker 9 (01:51:14):
Yeah, I think as I look at the fall camp,
and it was a great battle. Right, Kenny Mention is
our backup quarterback that's ultra talented. And what you never
saw one of the two quarterbacks do is just leave
the other one right and just say this is my
position and I'm gonna just be the guy. And each
of them had a really good day, bad day, good day.
(01:51:35):
And you know, I think at times he's such a
competitor when I talk about CJ Di that he was
competing with Kenny instead of competing with himself. And finally,
when we made that decision to say, okay, hey, CJ's
gonna be the guy, you kind of saw this weight
lifted off of his shoulders and now he could truly
focus on being the quarterback, not worrying about a competition.
(01:51:58):
And now you could let him utilize his skill sets
that he has. And so I think with any first
time starter, you want to be cautious on how much
you put on his plate versus a good defense like Miami.
But I remember at halftime, we just had that conversation,
say hey, let him make the calls. Let him make
the checks and let him throw it if he feels
(01:52:18):
like it's there, and to hand it off if we
need to get the ball to Jay Love or Jedarian,
give him the ball. But I knew we had to
put more on his plate and let him lead and
let him go.
Speaker 2 (01:52:29):
I want to talk about the man Marcus Freeman for
a second. You go to the university of the Ohio
State University. You are hired internally after Brian Kelly leaves
two years ago. We were actually at the game Notre
Dame in Ohio State where I believe you guys had
ten minute on the field. Ryan Day, he's yelling at
a fake lou Holt. He's not yelling at a fake
Lou Holts. Whole bunch of things are going on. And
then fast forward to a year later, you're playing in
(01:52:51):
the National Championship against your alma mater. For you, emotionally,
what is it like when you see the Ohio State
University and they're on the opposing sideline A guy who
used to play there.
Speaker 9 (01:53:02):
Yeah, I think the first time, the first time I
actually played Ohio State, I was defense coordinator at Cincinnati
and that was unique going into Ohio Stadium. First time
I've been back, and probably since I played, or actually
the year I gad there. And then my first true
game is the head coach here in twenty twenty two,
(01:53:23):
we played at Ohio State, and that probably was personally emotional.
You're looking or I mean, it's different. This is your
first real game I coached the head coach of the
bowl game. But this is the first game of the
twenty two season, and you know, you still don't know
what you know. But then we play them again the
following year at Notre Dame, and then we play them
last year in the National Championship, and then all this
(01:53:44):
sudden becomes an opponent, right, it becomes there's not a
Ohio State former player. It's like, Okay, how do I
lead this team that I'm in charge of leading to
win a game versus a really talented team. And so
I think the sperience of the first two times I
played Ohio State as a coordinator and as a head
(01:54:04):
coach helped me understand like, this isn't personal, This has
nothing to do with where I went to school. This
is personal for me to make sure I lead this
team to be as well prepared for this opponent as
I can you know.
Speaker 1 (01:54:16):
Too, like he was a player, so you can only
imagine going up and get your own monitor. Like the
first two times, it's probably insanely personal, like, hey, I'm
gonna get these boys, right.
Speaker 2 (01:54:25):
We all had we all have that moment in our
careers where it's like the main character syndrome kind of
takes over a little bit and you're like, I'm gonna
get these guys, and everyone knows I'm gonna get there
if I'm walking.
Speaker 1 (01:54:34):
Into Husker Stadium like I'm one, Okay, I'm not their guy.
Let me show them why?
Speaker 2 (01:54:39):
Yeah, why made me their guy? At one point?
Speaker 1 (01:54:42):
No, that's true, coach man, I've been a big fan
of yours for a long time and it goes back
to that uh that video when you got introduced as
the head coach as somebody who absolutely loved my strength
and conditioning coach James Dobson at Nebraska and being a
defensive guy myself and love seeing defensive minds like as
head coaches, like seeing that reaction from the players that
(01:55:03):
moment to where you were the guy. It's just it's
an energy that it's just like you don't know unless
you're just in there and you know, so from that moment,
I've always rooted for you, take me to win. Now
that you have three years of experience, what do you
feel like you've learned as the head coach of a
program like Notre Dame, especially from that moment to where
even though BK left, it seemed like every player and
(01:55:25):
everybody in that building was so damn fired up that
you were going to be the face and you were
going to be the guy leading the Irish. Yeah.
Speaker 9 (01:55:32):
I mean, that's a moment that you know, obviously means
a lot to me. I'll cherish forever. But I think
now looking at this thing three years later, as you said,
the probably the thing I didn't know at that point
that experience has taught me is be grateful for the pain.
Speaker 8 (01:55:52):
Man.
Speaker 9 (01:55:53):
Like, nobody wants to lose, nobody envisions losing. But I've
learned the most personally, and I think our team and
our program has through the losses, through the pain, and
I always tell our players, man, be grateful for the pain.
Speaker 1 (01:56:10):
We hate losing.
Speaker 9 (01:56:11):
Losing is terrible, but at the end of the day,
be grateful for that pain because that's where you do
your most growth. And it's a reminder that the struggle.
The struggle has to occur to have success, and pain
of losing helps with that. The pain of what you
have to do to prepare each week, like our Tuesdays
(01:56:32):
and Wednesdays have to be hard and you have to
be uncomfortable because that's the only way to get better.
It's the only way to grow. And so I think
that's the one thing I wish I would that guy
right there in twenty twenty one would have known, like
you're going to have losses in your first two games,
for actually your first three games as a head coach
are going to lose. But it's going to help you
(01:56:54):
grow more than anything else. And so that's the thing
I continue to remind myself is now we can't keep losing, right,
you can't continuously lose to grow. Now we have to
understand what success. How do we continue to intentionally do
things that are uncomfortable that help us grow because you
can't continue to lose to say that's the only way
(01:57:15):
that we're going to grow, right, you have to be uncomfortable.
And those are the things you learned through experience.
Speaker 2 (01:57:21):
With the new age of college football, it's so unique
with the nil stuff going on, the playoff is now twelve,
it was four. If you're looking at Notre Dame, you're
an independent school from a basketball standpoint, you're not play
in the ACC. And then you lose these first two games,
and it kind of seems like, hey, if they go
ten and two, the logo is going to get them in.
They'll probably be able to bounce over a couple of people.
(01:57:44):
Do you see a place where Notre Dame can find
themselves in a big ten or in a ACC eventually
to where if those you know stumble happens early in
the season, you'll have the resume. Well, I have no
doubt you guys will make the playoff for you if
you went out, But there's no question of a resume
if you go and you know, go ten and two.
Speaker 9 (01:58:04):
Yeah, I mean, the future of college athletics are always uncertain, right,
and with private equity, with what's going to happen with
these conferences. You know, if there's a time that Notre
Dame has to join a conference to ensure they can
have the same opportunities to make the playoffs as everybody else,
(01:58:24):
then I'm sure our administration will do it. Currently, the
administration and myself and all of us feel confident that
if we win the games we're supposed to win, we
take care of the business we're supposed to take care of,
then we have just as good good of a chance
to make the playoffs as anybody else. And so we're
in as we're as well positioned right now as anybody
(01:58:46):
we feel, but we can never put our program at
a disadvantage for postseason play because we're not in a conference.
And if that's ever the case, I'm sure we'll join
a conference.
Speaker 1 (01:58:59):
How do you personally compartmentalize? Like, I feel like your
name starting to come up in conversations. You were the
successor Brian Kelly at Notre Dame, Brian Kelly talks about
him at LSU. Your name is starting to come into
the full with some of these big jobs. Obviously you're
currently at a big job. How how do you personally compartmentalize?
And how do you also if that noise does get loud, like,
(01:59:20):
how is there how are the conversations taking place like
with your team or if your feelings, like a feeling,
a vibe, it's like, how are you handling that with
with your football team?
Speaker 9 (01:59:31):
Yeah? I think probably as I look at it, this year,
compared to last year. Maybe the impulsible thing that would
be to say, oh, no, I'm not interested. I got
a great job, and yeah, is that the case. Yes,
But you know, when I do hear a little bit
of the noise and I try to control the things
(01:59:52):
I hear, but you're people know how to text here
or say certain things. It's a reminder of the gratitude
that I have to have for the position that's programs in,
for the position I have, Like, that's what I reflect
on is that man, first of all, you your name
(02:00:13):
wouldn't be mentioned if your program wasn't doing really good things.
And the reason why we're doing really good things is
because everybody in the program. Right, It's not one person.
Speaker 6 (02:00:25):
Right.
Speaker 9 (02:00:25):
I always tell our guys, like outside of this building,
they're always going to point the finger at one person
when you have success in one person when you have failure,
and it's usually the head coach or quarterbacks, right, And
so I know the reality is it takes us off.
It takes every person in this program to have success.
And so when you have that mentality, you understand, like
there's a gratitude to the program that I'm that I'm
(02:00:50):
involved in and I'm a part of, but also the
opportunity I have to be the head coach here right
and in this position that I hold. And so that's
every time I hear something like I just remind myself
with the gratitude that I have to be in this position.
Speaker 2 (02:01:04):
For sure.
Speaker 1 (02:01:05):
I love that.
Speaker 2 (02:01:05):
That is absolutely beautiful. Let's talk about that text saying
them game last play of the game. It's very clear
that the left guard held right. We can can we
all agree on that at this point, very clear that
you guys probably should have walked away with that win. Obviously,
just talking to you for a short time we've had
you seem like a guy that's getting compartmentalized. You're probably
getting a to go to a closet screen real quick.
Speaker 4 (02:01:27):
Come back.
Speaker 1 (02:01:28):
You know you've been a player. You can't let the
refs decide.
Speaker 2 (02:01:30):
Don't let the refs decide the football game. What does
are we sending that in the next week to the
commissioner and be like, hey, buddy, we gotta make this
right somewhere or one way or another way. We gotta
do here, Like, what is how does that take place
for you as a head coach after the game.
Speaker 9 (02:01:45):
Yeah, there's plays every week, you send in that you
send to the ACC of the head of ACC officials,
and you say, hey, do you agree or disagree with
this call? Now that game, I think we had SEC
if I'm not mistaken, so they probably would agree with
a lot of things. We say, oh, yeah, those are
(02:02:06):
SEC officials. We agreed they shouldn't have called it or
should have called it. But that's just really just to
get clarification on why a referee called something what they
called or is that the right call or not. But
I never ever would allow our program to use that
as a reason why we lost the game. You know that,
(02:02:27):
like so many plays within a game that we have
to execute, that that play wasn't the only reason we
lost the game.
Speaker 2 (02:02:35):
It was.
Speaker 9 (02:02:35):
It was a accumulation of many plays. But I just
don't ever want our guys to make excuses. You know,
we got to own We got to own the results, man,
and that result was because we didn't play well enough,
consistently right, play well parts of that game, but not enough.
Speaker 1 (02:02:52):
This isn't for you to comment on, but I just personally,
whenever the line was six and a half and whenever
you guys missed the extra point, I just knew I'm like,
all right, something bad about that I had Notre Dame,
Like he missed the extra point.
Speaker 2 (02:03:03):
That I happened, Like I think we all had Notre
Dame in that game. Yeah, something something that you can
comment on, because we're not going to put you in
a spin zone of having to go around a sports
gambling question. Dude. When I was at Michigan, every second
or third game of the year, it would be Notre
Dame and it was such a beautiful rivalry. And after
I left, you know, I don't know how many years
since we have played. Can we can we talk to
(02:03:26):
some the ad at Notre Dame? Can we do? I
have to go talk to Michigan. We got to get
that rivalry back in check. It's such it's such a
beautiful helmet game, same architect and made both stadiums like
it's it's it's almost a religious experience. Would you before
Michigan Notre Dame again? Oh?
Speaker 9 (02:03:42):
Huge proponent? Yeah, absolutely, Like I remember growing up watching
Michigan play Notre Dame, right, and that is such a
great rivalry, and you talk about two iconic programs. I
would love to see that happen in if you and
I don't know if there's discussions. I don't know if
it's on our future schedule, it might be I think
(02:04:05):
actually now you said I Taylor, like, I think it
is on our schedule in like twenty thirty or something
like that.
Speaker 1 (02:04:13):
Alive. Yes, yeah, yeah, that we have to get that
back to back going.
Speaker 2 (02:04:18):
That'd be awesome because if you guys are gonna play
the Miami's, the A and M's, Like, if you're going
to schedule big games, it's like, why not schedule a
big game with some history behind it? It'd be awesome.
Speaker 1 (02:04:27):
Absolutely, Coach, I want to have some fun, So, uh,
what are some fun things that you do with the
guys and the hard, monotonous parts of the season, Because again,
if I think back to the video where I'm fired
up for you, it's like, guys don't get juice like that.
You know as a player too, like when you have
a coach that you just ride for, they do something
that makes that makes the game fun or the hard
(02:04:48):
times fun. Maybe it's it's dancers or something. Before a
team meeting, like, what are things that coach Freeman does
with this team to have fun or keep them on
their toes? They're like they think this is going to
be a barn burner today. But I'm gonna pull this
out on them.
Speaker 9 (02:05:02):
One of the things is just it just popped in
my head because we're gonna have a team meeting here
in about five minutes, and so I usually show wise
men plays, right. I always say, you know, we'll take
plays from other teams other games that we have to
be wise men. We have to learn from the mistakes
of others. But every so often there's plays, uh for
examples of us, our own guys probably not being wise men.
Speaker 2 (02:05:27):
And you know the boy, you know the boys, Yeah
something pull from an Instagram story or something like that.
Speaker 1 (02:05:32):
Yeah, well we got one.
Speaker 9 (02:05:34):
I didn't know this. So I get a call from
my wife last night and she said, yeah, the boys
we have we have three kids twelve and three boys
twelve and under. And she said they were doing uh
something where they were thrusting the floor and I'm like,
what are you talking about?
Speaker 1 (02:05:51):
She said.
Speaker 9 (02:05:51):
I went up to the boy, said what are you
guys doing? They said, this is the Jay Love celebration. Said,
she said, whoa, that's totally inappropriate. And so I had
the clip sent to me because I didn't even know
this happened, and uh he there he was celebrating. There
he was in the end zone. So I'm gonna make
(02:06:11):
sure that gets into our wise Men plays today.
Speaker 1 (02:06:14):
Oh I love that.
Speaker 2 (02:06:15):
Yeah, you need to play that clip and then just
have a still photo for your kids and be like,
this is who you're affecting. Handle this business out here
all right. Well, it takes a village to raise kid.
Speaker 1 (02:06:25):
You know, he's just gonna sit there with the clicker too,
just rewinding it over and over.
Speaker 2 (02:06:30):
Don't say nothing, just let him laugh and then let
him get real quiet. Yeah, coach, we know you got
to go to your team, and we really appreciate you
coming on the show. We got to get you on
the seat one day or maybe we come out of
ned him.
Speaker 1 (02:06:40):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (02:06:41):
We're gonna keep this relationship rolling in a big way.
Appreciate you getting right, Afoss Mark Extream.
Speaker 9 (02:06:47):
Appreciate you guys.
Speaker 1 (02:06:48):
Man.
Speaker 3 (02:06:48):
Appreciate here in South Bend.
Speaker 1 (02:06:51):
We will come good luck the rest of the way.
Speaker 9 (02:06:53):
Thanks brother, Appreciate you guys.
Speaker 1 (02:06:55):
Yes, sir,
