Look boys, we're we're yeah good. Look over at chirum
shirt right now. Good wife left town five days. She's
in Portland, Oregon, doing an owner's summit with Bar three
and their entire headquarters, their national team.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
All the owners are out there for like a five
day event.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
I don't know what they're doing. They're probably learning some stuff.
But your boy, I know what your boy's doing. And
your boys in the trenches right now. Back at home,
I'm being a father. Back at home, solo dad rocking
with two kiddos.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
Good good. Nanny's out of town. Also goood. Rue doesn't
want to sleep in her own bed.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
If my mama's gone, good good.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
Oh, Scotty's crying.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
Rue's crying because she misses mama. I gotta soothe Rue.
Scotty's in the crib crying because it's bottle time and
she's ready for a bottle to go to bed.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
But Rue doesn't want me to let her go to bed.
Rue wants to go to bed first. Dad that you
do bedtime first. Don't do Scottie good good.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Because Scotty can put herself down. But she's only wait
eight months.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
She's ten months. Tim can't put herself.
Speaker 3 (01:09):

the crib.

This kid is Michael Parson's on the third down. She's
hanging on the rail and she's looking at me like,
rou look at Scotty that that has to put it out.
I promise I'm gonna put her down as fast as possible.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
It's your three backs. Crosby over there, she got in
the water bowl. She's destroyed the pantry.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
But the pantry I've built it like the foundation I
have in the pantry, solid water bowl, dog bowl, the
matt and everything's on top of the on top of
the counter. She's just rummaging through all the snacks of
roof snacks. She's like, you know, she's gotta like throw
everything out. Yeah, it's not like the play. It's not
to open and try to eat. However, she did get
her hands on some puffs and some figured out a
(02:00):
way to open the top. I walk in, there's puffs
all over the floor as she's eating them with a
little grin.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
On her face. I go, Scotty, pick her up.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
She's like trying to grab She's trying to grabs me
puffs as possible. Want picking her up.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
You don't laugh to you don't want to.
Speaker 2 (02:39):

telling you this. I was at the nearby park the
other day with the wife before she flew out, and
we were hanging with the kiddos. She was hanging with Rue,
Scotty was napping, and I'm sitting there on the bench
as Scotty's napping and the PT.

be expecting more wins for their football team. It's like, oh,

subscribed and following all channels. It is football season, so
I know everybody's busy trying to consume as much football
as possible. I try to consume as much football as
possible until Ru's like, hey, let's go throw the frisbee outside,
(04:56):
and I look at her and give it like a
long five seconds stare like the game in my head.
Will you're a dad, You're an intentional fother? You have
a podcast for the dad. It's like, what would this
dad do? Is he gonna say, sweetheart, let's finish this
two minute drill? Or is he gonna get up and
go play frisbee? And then just turn the game on
on the phone and just play it on audio so
I can hear it Walla playing frisbee. I'll get up,
(05:19):
all right, let's go outside it. Let's go outside and
play frisbee with a huge smile on my face.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
Let's do it.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
You're not gonna get this time back shirm. She's not

Speaker 2 (06:38):
And birthday Week's not gonna count if we lose this game.
Speaker 3 (06:42):
And that's hey, that's okay, because we'll have a birthday
next year that won't happen. But I'm just saying, there
is a birthday next year.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
The Huskers are in position to rewrite this last decade,
decade and a half. Yeah, however long it's been since
we've had success in a season. Last year we had
our first winning season that just to taste, can't win
the big games and one score games where it's the records.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
Are not good.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
We we gritted out a one score game against Cincinnati. Yeah,
now you're going against a real football team. Yeah, Price
Underwood superstar. He's going to be a superstar. He's going
to be, in my opinion, a number one overall pick.
If like the kids eighteen years old and he looks good,
they can run the football.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
So this is a fist fight this week.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
This is a dad's podcast, But we got a fist
fight in our hands this weekend, and there's an opportunity.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
For Huskers, for the Huskers.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
Matt Rule year three era, Like, there's an opportunity in
front of us.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
But we're in a position as a football team, as
a fan base, as a state to start turning the
page to greener pastures.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
And it's this weekend.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
This weekend also happens to be the bust and Bowl,
a rivalry between myself and Taylor, So that's one. It's like,
on a personal level, you want to win that game
just for the bragging rights. Yeah, they've beat us the
last four times we've played. We have a beat a
top twenty five team in the last like twenty three
twenty four consecutive times we've been in the game against
a top twenty five opponent.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
This game is huge, man, this is a That's podcast.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
This and just a reminder, this isn't That's by the guys.
We are not professionals. But this is a huge week
for Nebraska. And if you want to send some love
to our boy, willye see because look at him.
Speaker 1 (09:00):

take over special teams for the University of Nebraska. Yeah

we're all in.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
Man.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
If I didn't have a mic in front of me,
I'd have a whistle hanging for my neck and I'd
be at the University of Nebraska.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
That's God honest truth. Yeah, God, I believe that. So
guys leave some gbrs down in the comments for all
Willie C leave some gvrs down in the comments. The

coulda be tough game.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
I like our ball club, Yeah, and it's all it's
it's about not feeling the lights, not feeling the stage, yep.
And Memorial Stadium being an electric factory all game, all game.
I was there two years ago. They drive it down
fourteen play drive put it in for seven. We come out,
(10:03):
ball gets tipped, they pick it off. Place was dead
after that. I was disappointed in Memorial Stadium because it
was third and one in a red zone and you
needed the juice because they had coorm they had a
Joe more offensive line.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
Yeah, you needed the juice.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Juice was nowhere to be found.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
They ended up beating her ass, you know, forty something
to three or seven.
Speaker 3 (10:29):
It was bad.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
And I'm out there at the second quarter or whatever,
We're down like three scores, maybe like, hey, will you
want to do the T shirt? Cannon picked the stadium
up a little. It ain't no saving. What's me and
a T shirt cannon gonna do, mister Compton.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
And I'm out there just faking until I make it,
just you know, face going, T shirts flying, screaming, yelling,
knowing we're getting mocked right now?
Speaker 3 (10:57):

listening because it was truly giving me standards to look
for and a husband and future father of my children.
Besides my own dad, of course, he is amazing. You
(11:41):
are both wonderful examples for me as a twenty one
year old girl trying to figure out life and boys.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
Their dad rips.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
Yeah, dude.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
And if I get emotional, I'm emotional because there's just
there's too much going on in my body, in my
head right now, yeah, giving fatherhood, giving the huskers, Like,
there's too much going on in my system right now
to just be stable whatsoever.
Speaker 3 (12:46):

these comments. Derek picks out these comments and thank you
for picking up that comment. You're welcome.
Speaker 4 (13:39):
She had sent that and then I said, hey, this
is great, like I planned on it, and she said,
can you make sure Will and Churm see this comment?
Was her next direct message, just yes, they throw it
in there, so I definitely wanted to get in front
of it. I don't know if the next thing you're
about to say is good or bad.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
No, I don't know what you know. I just Derek
picked this comment. What does that mean? It's a great thing.
I just admit that I didn't. I didn't read that
and go, oh, I'm definitely reading that about me on
the podcast. That's all I meant by it.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
I picked it because of the impact that you guys
have on people that writing off they're not your demographic.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
But yeah, you're saying you're not picking that about you.
Speaker 3 (14:16):
Yes, Oh, I just didn't want you.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
You're in your own head.
Speaker 3 (14:20):
I'm in my own head. Okay, Okay, I'm in my
own head.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
Even I sit there and like like slowly looked over Derek.
I'm thinking, what, what's what's behind what?
Speaker 3 (14:29):
He's crushing it? Yeah, And I love that he picked
that comment because if I had seen, like, if this
had been sent to me personally, I would not have
read it on the podcast. And there are really nice
things like what Gabrielle sin yeah, that we like get
in the d MS.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
Sure we can confidently tell you Shuram does not handpick
these comments. This would be a good one for me
to muster up some tears, some.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
Moral highgro Yes, sum does not do that.
Speaker 3 (14:58):
Thank you. Yeah. I don't even know why I needed

similar interaction with my son as Will had on Sunday
Night football? Is that correct? Sunny night football? Last weekend
was the first football game my boy Kayden two sat

I think the best thing was we came up with
our own touchdown dance and now every time I yell touchdown,
we do it. Grip it and rip it. Fellas have
a badass week.
Speaker 2 (17:14):

That last comment is on me missus? Is that is
the correct spelling for missus? I'm used to just seeing.
Speaker 2 (17:25):

done a better I did.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
I did not know that. That's truly. I love that,
the spelling of missus.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I love it too.
Speaker 1 (17:58):
Brittany Underwood sixteen Willie one shelf in Fat Stafford No kids,

They're tearing up.
Speaker 1 (18:13):

Speaker 2 (18:28):
It's not a good week for me. Man.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
Hey, I just want to say this is a really
cool podcast and those comments that's crazy and it is
a joy to wake up and like know that we
were going to record today, Like I feel it too,
I do, and comments like that, Damn, dude.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
I know and there's no laughing about any of that.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
It's just thought the all of the emotions that are happening,
the way we've started off this podcast, everything else, and
how we've cried every week with these comments when I'm
driving over here, because it's like, you know, you're in
the trenches at the house, getting the kiddos up, which
I got to talk about Ruth sleeping with Dad the
last three nights, and I'm setting a bad I'm setting
a bad habit right now. I'm sitting a bad tone
(19:13):
because Dad is weak and I can't say no.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
To my little girl. Oh but you're sitting there scrambling, get.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
The kiddo's ready, to get Rue ready for school, get
Scottie ready, make sure she's make sure she can't crawl
around anywhere, so I make sure she is confined in
a space, like I get her up on the on
the island. I'm feeding her, I'm feeding the kiddos. We're
getting lunches ready, getting myself ready. Trying to think about, Oh,
we got for the dads today. We got the team meeting,
(19:39):
we got the k Adams Show, we got the Rules podcast.
We got to do the second part before the dads
driving over here. What my point I was gonna make
is driving over here. It's like, I get excited to
do this podcast because I feel like it's such a
break from everything else going on.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
They you just get to talk about fatherhood.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
I get to laugh with a good buddy of mine,
you gentlemen in the back, as well as Chef and Derek.
I feel like we have a good crew and it
it always fires me up thinking like I wonder what
the comments are going to be, Like, I wonder what
we'll see today. I wonder how much you'll get the
laugh of PT six, how much we might cry with
PT six because they just send in comments like this
that just tug on your heartstrings because of how real
(20:18):
shit is, especially with stuff that happened last week. Just everything, man,
everything is just very precious. And to see everybody taking
their time, taking the time to write to us and
tell us and be vulnerable with us, whether it's encouraging words,
whether it's hey, I lost my dad at fourteen and
he was incredible, whether you're talking about situations that are
personal to you and your wife and you're going through
(20:40):
something at the hospital, it's all it's I really do
appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
I know, we both do.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
Yeah, we do. They like it is a pleasure to
read these comments. There's like no part of us that's
sitting in a think corporate think tank. That's like, you'll
get more listeners to your podcast if you read the
comments at the beginning of it, like it. We truly
just love reading these comments. Yeah, I also selfish shout out.
Just want to shout out everybody in the comments, to
(21:08):
everybody that is DM me about my dad loss. Last episode.
That was the last episode.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
I think it was a couple episodes ago. You're talking
about the big one.
Speaker 3 (21:18):
We're the big one.
Speaker 1 (21:19):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, flying home the Baylor game, yes,
or after the week off yes, yeah, just because you
felt very uneasy after that after that episode.
Speaker 3 (21:29):
Yeah, Like I knew that it was going. The only
thing I was uneasy about is I checked in with
you and was like that I overshared there and you
were like, I didn't think so at all. And then
in my head I was like, did I overshare there
with Jill? Told her everything I yeah, and she was like, yeah, no,
not at all. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
It's a weird game that doing the podcast, Like you
have yeah in your head on stuff at home, like,
am I oversharing?
Speaker 2 (21:53):
Reason I loved it? The reason I loved it so much,
which I'm glad that you're getting a bunch of.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
Feedback from, is because I feel like that it's like
a real situation that you you break down.
Speaker 2 (22:03):
And again, this is not some expert show.
Speaker 1 (22:06):
This is like us talking about real life experiences in
our lives that I feel like is relatable to everybody
because everybody goes through situations that we've both gone through,
especially with yours. In that situation where you're like, man,
am I oversharing? Am I seeming like like a bad
husband or a bad dad with that one? It's like, bro,
all of us have bad moments, So that fires me up.
(22:27):
That you've gotten a lot of feedback from that.
Speaker 3 (22:28):
Yeah. And I remember telling you because we both started
laughing when I was telling you. The day after that
episode dropped, I had a DM of some guy that
was like, sure, I'm so glad you told that story
because literally this last week, same thing happened. And hearing
you say that made me feel so much better because
I consider you a good dad and it makes me
(22:49):
feel that much better. And I told Will, I'm so
glad that guy DM because hearing that, he also, yeah, okay,
I'm not the one that we're both feeling the same
thing with the good and idea of that back, I
was like, bro, I hate that that happened, but I'm
you know, we're in this.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
Yeah, in this. Hey, and Brittany, by the way, thank
you for sharing this comment. Thank you for sharing this.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
Yes, thank you. Brittany from YouTube Hambonious, Rex Right's wife
thirty three weeks pregnant, just screamed yes about the wives
designing an MT six shirt. People are serious about it, will.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
I did see a couple of the ladies being like
they love the idea of the wives designing a milk
Team six just having something come to us.
Speaker 2 (23:34):
It's from the women that they would be yes fired
up about.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
I think that could be a fun little that's a
fun little bonding thing for our wives too. That could
be like a hey, you guys have fun, Yeah, leverage.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
Our podcasts and brand to do a bonding thing.
Speaker 3 (23:49):
Hope you'll hope you'll have some fun designing this ship.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
Yeah yeah, Chef, can you turn the camera on while
we do.
Speaker 3 (23:56):
And start rolling? Start rolling? Oh, y'all like each other?
All right?
Speaker 2 (24:01):
Chef cut it, so you know, we gotta go.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
Huskers are kicking off here in ten minutes, we got
the bonding moments.
Speaker 3 (24:06):
Do we get it perfect? Oh?
Speaker 1 (24:09):
I got one here from from Logan and I'm sitting
at the top that this is a real one.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
I need this podcast today.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
I also took a huge dat l last night and
got into a big fight with my fiance and listening
to Shran be so vulnerable and open about the struggles
of finding that balance between work, family and me time,
I had to shut it off and take a take
a minute to take my own accountability and let her
know that I was being a fuck up to So
shout out to Fat Stafford for being that example. That
(24:38):
being that example that me, as a younger man needed today.
Shout out Willy one Shelf Chef and Ball's Deep Derek.
He put the hammer for Willy One's shelf, He put
the little chef emoji for chef, and he put the
cherries for balls Deep Derek, et six till I die
Pepperoni's forever Logan, thank you for this comment, man hey,
(25:00):
And just like just like that, we were just talking
about you a couple of weeks ago, and they're.
Speaker 3 (25:04):
Ye and shout out everybody that was commenting Peppinoni's YouTube
that made me smile. Uh. This one comes from via email.
This comes from Jonathan McMahon. Uh, that's six on one
of the dads at gmail dot com. Correct, okay, excuse me.
(25:26):
Jonathan McMahon writes, sure, Will and Chef three absolute goats.
I would say four, with Derek veteran goon Bray captain
checking in honorably discharge. After finding my own Jilly Bean
slash Charro, I'm now proud girl dad to Ivy three
and Ila five, and now a fully pledged Papa Team
(25:50):
six member. This is huge. My name is Johnny and
I'm from Dublin, Ireland, a rare college football NFL fan
over here, and I've been riding the bet. I've been
writing with Busting with the Boys since the beginning, which
obviously deployed me over to your podcast without question. As
I sit here listening to the latest episode, I'm buzzing
(26:11):
that the international listeners can now interact. Just wanted to
send some love. This podcast is the real deal. It's raw,
it's relatable, and it's exactly the kind of authentic content
Dad Slash Future Dad's need and goom berets. It sounds
like no need for a reply. Just wanted to say
you genuinely make my Wednesdays better. Keep doing what you're
(26:33):
doing and I will rep the four the dad's merch
over here and spread the word. Johnny you said, Johnny,
Jonathan McMahon.
Speaker 2 (26:42):
Johnny, thank you for the comment. Bro.
Speaker 3 (26:44):
That's a great message. Ireland too and an NFLCFB sick though.
Speaker 2 (26:50):
Yeah. International for the dads is international, man, Oh that's
congress to them. We see is a girl dad three and.
Speaker 3 (26:56):
Five three and five Ilah and Island Ivy also shout
out Island Ivy.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
Shout out Island Ivy. I had that age right there too.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
Is one that again love stay present in the moments
now because Scotty at ten months old is an absolute blast.
I sit there and mess with Scottie and play with
Scotty dude and her personality, her crawling all over the place,
her like unbothered this and just happy. She's just a
happy little girl. Oh yeah, Rue is too, but she's
(27:27):
a three year olds.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
The emotions like, she's very intense with their emotions right now.
Rue is an absolute sweetheart as well.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
But Scotty, like I play with her at ten months,
I always think about you because I'm like, man, sure's
really gonna love when he gets to these moments. And
then I quickly I'm like, he's also, he's got it.
He's gotta love, he's gotta love the ones that he's
in right now. But at three and five, I'm excited
for those ages for Scotty and Rue. Ru's three, so
it'll be like six and three to where they can
(27:54):
play with each other, they can teach each other. You know,
ruill be teaching her a lot of stuff. They'll be
getting any each other's way, pissing each other off. I'm
very excited for that when Scotty gets to be three
where Ru is right now, and you know.
Speaker 2 (28:08):
They'll be like best friends. That is truly. I'm so looking.
Speaker 1 (28:12):
Forward to that because Ru is so good with Scotty now,
not now like she wasn't, but she's always been and
it's always like a work in progress, right Like if
Scotty's up on the couch and trying to pull the
blanket or doing something that Rue doesn't want, you got
to catch her and continue to remind her, Hey.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
She's just a baby. She does not know what you're saying, like,
every time I say no to her, what does Scotty do?
Speaker 1 (28:31):
She continues to do what she's doing. She has no clue.
She's just a baby. We have to learn to be sweet.
We have to learn to be kind to her. If
she's doing something you don't want to do either, you
know how to disarm the situation, like if she's getting
in something she knows, like grab her legs and pull
her back if it's on a sliding surface.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
I gotta see a video of that.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
And she did it one time when Scotty was on
the bottom stair and so Scotty kind of hit her
face a little bit. It wasn't bad. Yeah, Scotty was crying,
and that was like a teaching moment of Hey, if
Scotty's on a step, you go up and just wrap
your arms around her, like around her chest, and just
hold her there. If she cries, that's okay, Dad, mom
or Dada, I'll come over and help. But you just
(29:08):
wrap your arms around there and hold her. Because unless
you feel confident like picking her up and moving her,
which I don't think she doesn't right now, yeah, you
just sit there and hold her. And the other day
she was literally, I hat Dad, Dad, Scotty's Scotty's on
the stairs.
Speaker 2 (29:18):
I didn't have the barricade up.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
I didn't have jumbo package out there the goal line defense,
or I barricaded the stairs. And for people are like, oh,
why don't you just get a gate. We do have
a gate, but it's at the top of the stairs
because Rue, if you remember, in the first episode, she
went crashing down the stairs, so we got a gate
for the top of the stairs. Rue didn't have a
whole lot of an issue with like always wanting to
climb the stairs, the stairs. Scottie always wants.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
To climb the stairs.
Speaker 3 (29:40):
She's scott Zilla, true.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
She's scott Zilla. And Willie one shelf has him put
a gate in on the bottom.
Speaker 3 (29:44):
So I have this.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
Barricade that I put up at the bottom of the stairs.
But Rue's holding her.
Speaker 1 (29:48):
She's like dad a, Scotty's trying to climb the stairs
and Scotty's crying and fuss and Rue's just sitting there
holding her and kind of got like a smile on
her face because she knows she's doing the right thing.
But that's kind of the stage we're in now, and
I'm really excited for and Scotty gets to be like
Ru's age and they can actually play together.
Speaker 3 (30:03):
Yeah, I and I too, to like reiterate what you're
saying about how excited I'll be. Uh, it goes into
my dad win, so I don't want to spoil it,
but I am very excited as well.
Speaker 1 (30:15):
Okay, we'll hold on that win. You can always tell
your stories and just say, hey, this is the Dad win.
Speaker 3 (30:21):
That is true. But we'll hold it. We'll hold We
already said it. I got got three minutes.
Speaker 1 (30:25):
Yeah, my wife has a dress like dad them day
at work coming up, She'll be wearing my PT six shirt.
No brainer. This is from Turtle nineteen xx. Thank you
for the Thank you for the comment, Turtle, and I
am fired up that she'll be rocking a PT six shirt.
Speaker 3 (30:38):
I got one from Kim Hickey for one six Kim
Hickey Tier one.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
She Kim Hickey is a very much a Tier one.
Shout out Kim.
Speaker 3 (30:46):
Hickey, shout he's been.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
She's been rocking with Bus with the boys for quite
a long time, maybe since the beginning.
Speaker 3 (30:50):
Yes, and a Mama Team sixer. Yeah, well this episode
had me from start to finish. I saved the pod
to listen to it at work, and it had me bawling.
Speaker 2 (31:00):
Good.
Speaker 3 (31:01):
Everyone was asking me if I was okay, and I
would tell them about the pod. Red eyes everywhere now, good.
Keep up the great work, boys, and sure I felt
everything you said. You were one step ahead of some
You shared your experience and understood your part in it.
Those days will happen as long as you learn from them,
you will figure it out. Thank you, Kim. That's a
(31:22):
really sweet comment.
Speaker 1 (31:23):
Yeah, that's an awesome comic, Kim, Thank you, m you
Are you done?
Speaker 2 (31:27):
I'm done. I have two left that we can rip here.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
This one's from mister Highway zero forty morning, gentlemen, soon
to be BET six or Team minus three weeks. It
feels like DDA or Normandy Beach where heading up the
shore on our boats. Don't worry, I'm not the one puking.
I'm feeling good. I feel like Fat Stafford and really
one shouff with me in these final weeks of life
as I know it.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
Good.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
I have my PT six shir ready for the hospital
and can't wait to share a pick with me in
it with my baby boy leaving the hospital.
Speaker 3 (31:54):
Good.
Speaker 1 (31:55):
Thank you guys. So much for the weekly podcast. It
has helped ease the jitters of becoming a father, and
it's helped me prepare for wife on the pup list.
Speaker 2 (32:03):
Go Big Red, Go Big Red, and then this final one.
Here's the update from Chuck.
Speaker 1 (32:09):
So if you guys remember Chuck sent in a comment
a couple weeks ago talking about how his wife ruptured.
There wasn't a whole lot of context. I assumed the
worst that happened, but this is a great update from Chuck.
It up zero four three days ago. Boys, I wanted
to thank you for the advice about my fiance who ruptured.
Mama and baby girl, Charlie are being strong as ever.
(32:30):
Plan is to be admitted to the University of Michigan
Shout out Taylor the hospital in two weeks to monitor
for premature birth as they have the highest level nick
you around. Going to be an absolute battle, but I
know both my girls got it. Thanks for just being
there means a ton. The community has been a life saving.
Fatherhood is a blessing. Chuck Man, you are in our
thoughts and prayers.
Speaker 3 (32:50):
Bro. I would love if you update us.
Speaker 1 (32:54):
I completely understand if you don't want to update us,
like again, I know I rus in the nick you
for seven days, but it wasn't premature. Like that's a
world that I'm not as familiar with. I know it
can be I know it can be dangerous. I know
that it's it's a weird pocket to be in of
optimism and hope trying to you know, not think about
(33:15):
what the downside could be.
Speaker 3 (33:19):
I hope everything goes well.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
Man. Again, the rougher thing a couple of weeks ago,
my brain saw that and.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
Just assumed the worst.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
So so my fault for misleading that comment. And I
am very fired up to hear that you guys are
are being strong right now, and that you guys are
good right now, and that you guys will be at
the hospital here to monitor for premature birth. Hopefully all
goes well.
Speaker 2 (33:40):
Man. Please update us if you want to, but thank
you for the update.
Speaker 3 (33:45):
I'm sorry I fell silent. I connected the dots that
the daughter's name was Charlie and his name's Chuck, so
she's named after him. I just think that's really cool.
So sorry, I'm so sorry, but like, oh my god,
(34:05):
you know you're right.
Speaker 2 (34:06):
I'm more so laughing just here in German.
Speaker 3 (34:10):
That's so cool. You're right. That is a.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
Yeah man. Shout out Charles and shout out Charlie.
Speaker 3 (34:23):
They got this.
Speaker 2 (34:23):
They got this. Prayer prayers up for Chuck in the
in the chat. Okay, buddy, what the heck? I know
these comments wreck us man.
Speaker 3 (34:39):
It's it was the Collins that used to wreca and
now it's the it's the comments. Se what in the
world I need Kleenex. Cleenex, please shout out there, we
shout out. We can get guys.
Speaker 1 (34:55):
Thank you for sending in comments sincerely like it is
really it is really cool to be part of this community.
Speaker 2 (35:01):

Speaker 3 (35:03):
Yes, and Chuck, thank you, Terry, thank you, Uh, Chuck
so stoked, so excited and wishing the best for y'all. Yeah,
and thank you for sharing.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
Yeah, I know we can uh number one, so you
can get yourself together. We do have a team meeting
on the bus and with the boys side in the shop.
We'll take a quick break and we will be back
to talk about talk about our weekends, talk about our
last week in fatherhood. I guess so quick, potty break,
quick body break, and we will be we will be back.
Speaker 3 (35:38):
E T six ers. We interrupt this episode for a
quick potty break, brought to us by True Classic. Last week,
I was sitting in Willie want Schelf's chair. I was
telling you how the wife he thinks I look good
in True Classic. I got a True Classic hoodie on
right now. When we're going on date nights, she always goes, hey,
what what are those shirts that you get from the office.
(35:59):
We're one of those for date night and she's talking
about the True Classic one.
Speaker 2 (36:02):
Buddy, you wanted to talk about casual, classy.
Speaker 1 (36:06):
You feel good in it. It's not too snug, it's
none of that stuff. The elasticity of True Classic material,
the shirts, the Pima shirts, the hoodie that you got on.
They got button downs, they got short sleeve button downs
that I rock that I'm starting to rock on ESPN.
They're paying shorts, bro, all of it. True Classic is
the real deal.
Speaker 3 (36:24):
Y'all look fitted out, and y'all also, you and Taylor
are a little matchy matchy and something that True Classic
is doing right now. The cool part of what they're
doing is they've just launched a boy's line for the boys'
dads out there you can match, and honestly, it's way
better than those awkward family photo outfits or cheesy pajamas.
You get to show up together, feel comfortable, and actually
(36:48):
look good doing it. That's for the boy dads out there.
If you want to match with your son, the crazy
thing is true. Classic has already sold over twenty five
million shirts to more than five million customers with over
two hundred thousand five star reviews, So I'm definitely not
one of the only dads who have figured this out.
And also, guys, if you're doing the math. Twenty five
(37:09):
million shirts to more than five million customers, that means
these are returning customers. These are ones that BODI shirt
and they like it so much they come back for more.
You can find them on Amazon, Target, Select Costco, and
Sam's Club locations, or just head to True Classic dot
Com Slash Forward Slash for the dads. That's true Classic
(37:30):
dot Com Forward Slash for the dads. Guys, trust us,
grab one and you will thank us later.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
This pod go ahead what you want to do.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
Also, this podcast is brought to us by Form Energy.
Speaker 1 (37:43):
Yes, Form Energy, you guys saw me crack one already,
I'm going to crack a second one. This one is
the Blue Blitz, but Form Energy delivers best in class
tastes with natural flavors and zero sugar. Form Energy has
natural caffeine derived from green tea and comes in a
variety of flavors. She showed you the blue Blitz, you
got the grape smash. Over there, you got screaming Eagle
orange fury. And it's perfect for those who put in
(38:05):
the work. For the dad who wakes up in the morning,
gets in the trend and chef Daddy back. There's rocking,
the rocking the orange fury.
Speaker 3 (38:12):
Derek has the chain on. You got the chain on, like.
Speaker 1 (38:17):
We love Form Energy and this is for the dads
who wake up in the morning, put in the work
before they leave the house, get their work day in,
get a workout in full day of work and still
gives it their aw when they get home. For the
intentional father's Form Energy, we do the work. This concludes
our botty break. Let's get back to the episode.
Speaker 3 (38:36):
PT. Sixers, welcome back. We just got done with the
ad Reids. However, I did want to do an additional
shout out to Wayfair. You see the Memorial Stadium plaque
behind will Compton that came from our friends at Wayfair.
They give us a two hundred and fifty dollars gift card.
Speaker 2 (38:57):
Will that's juicy.
Speaker 1 (38:59):
That was one of our some interesting facts of the
Nebraska cornerscer industry.
Speaker 3 (39:02):
I won't again.
Speaker 2 (39:03):
This is a Dad Chow Dad show, so I won't
bore you with those. But some good bullet points up there.
Speaker 3 (39:07):
They're great bullet points. I bought a sign that I
thought was much smaller, but it's actually a really uh
pretty good sized sign of Baylor. It's like weathered wood.
It's fun, dude. They got all types of things. That's
from that's from Wayfair. Aung that up? I hung that up.
(39:29):
I'll teach you a thing or two, a thing or two.
I'm no expert, but I'll teach you pretty good. Ah,
thank you. We We do have our Wayfair giveaway winner
that we will do at the end of the episode.
I'm sorry to tease it, that's on me to tease it,
but we will read out our winner of the Wayfair
giveaway at the end of the episode. And Derek said,
(39:49):
a pretty fire video submission from this guy. Do we
even want to play it at the end as well? Derek,
is it worth putting on the pod? A potential A potential,
A potential. A we'll see.
Speaker 2 (40:05):
Let's get into our let's get into our highs and
lows of the week.
Speaker 3 (40:09):
Love it.
Speaker 2 (40:10):
We got our hot line six on one.
Speaker 1 (40:11):
The dads come on, we'll talk voicemails. We'll round it
off with a lesson quote coming from you.
Speaker 3 (40:17):
I have a quote, real, Yeah, it's hard to kick
to kind.
Speaker 1 (40:21):
Of find quotes with the the chaos over the weekend.
Speaker 3 (40:25):
Oh I know, dude, my quote actually came from a
like in person conversation. Didn't hang out with the Jill
step dat. It's on there in town for Jill's birthday,
and he's just he's full of one liners.
Speaker 1 (40:38):
Dude, Like, I got to write him down, Dad, one liners.
You got to put it in the notes app and
you gotta start jotting him down whenever you hear from
the generation above us, because they have some gold.
Speaker 3 (40:46):
He was telling me about a fight he got in
way back in the day. He is down because we're
watching the Monday night football game. We're talking about Houston.
He said, Man, last time I was in Houston, this
big old guys walked through the parking garage. Somebody's cat
calling and his wife. He thinks it's me and our
group of guys and he comes barreling over. I just
looked at my friend. I said, this is gonna fucking hurt. Incredible.
(41:11):
But the guy missed the punch and hit the car
like uh, the actual car, Fraim and broke his hand.
So Cody got out unscathed. Oh, I know they do.
He's a legend, blue collar type. He's owned towing businesses,
butcher shops, like all different types of stuff. He's a
cool cat. I'll talk about it more later.
Speaker 1 (41:31):
Okay, all right, getting into my weekend with the girls.
So my dad loss is more of a dad heartbreaker
than anything else. So, as I've already told you, I've
been solo with the kiddos. We're solo with the kiddos
until you're listening to this on Wednesday, So tonight the
wife gets home tonight, okay, but been sold with the
kiddos on Saturday. And dude, nothing breaks your heart more
(41:59):
than your little girl or you're I always assuming the
little boys are like this too, especially if mama's gone
being little Mama's boys. But seeing your little girl, miss
Mama being gone, and that happened over the weekend.
Speaker 2 (42:09):
It was night too.
Speaker 1 (42:10):
So the first night Rue and I had a sleepover.
We had a little slumber party where she slept in
my bed. We usually do it like once every now
and then, maybe once a weekend, maybe every other weekend.
Speaker 2 (42:19):
Just every now and then we hit a little sleepover
where we can sleep with mama and dead dead.
Speaker 1 (42:23):
So we did a sleepover on night one on Saturday
to just to keep her hype about something because mom
was leaving.
Speaker 2 (42:28):
We're dropping her off at the airport. You could see
the her thinging like how many sleeps until you get home?
Speaker 1 (42:33):
And like oh dang, like Mama's leaving. We're dropping her
off at the airport. It's like, oh, we get to
do is sleepover tonight? We could do this and that
and getting her excited to hers she's not fully going
down that emotional rabbit hole of mom being gone. Yeah,
night too comes. So it's Sunday night and it was
a it was a great afternoon. Called over reinforcements, talk
about operation in laws, had them over to help with
(42:56):
the kiddos and Lola open Lola. They're playing with Rue,
keeping her busy. Lola's holding Scottie. Daddy gets to watch
a little bit of ball. I'm watching ball with my
father in law, and we're having a good time. It
was a great afternoon. They leave around five. Rue's so
tired she ends up sleeping a little bit on the couch.
I wake her up because it's like, hey, I don't
want you to sleep too long, you know, we need
(43:17):
you tire for bedtime. And we're gonna eat dinner, and
she's having a hard time like getting over to the
dinner table, yeah, and eating dinner.
Speaker 2 (43:27):
And I just end up like, sweetheart, like what's going on?
Like why is this? Why is this? You've been so
good today, You've been you've been so patient, you've listened
really well, You've had a lot of fun with Lola
and Opa.
Speaker 1 (43:37):
And she just says, I miss mama and starts kind
of crying, and I'm like, oh man, and so I'm
hugging her, and so we get through the dinner and
where I have to you know, I'm just like talking
her through the dinner and everything else, and then we
get to bedtime, and this.
Speaker 2 (43:51):
Is where it really goes.
Speaker 3 (43:52):
This is the.
Speaker 2 (43:52):
Real heartbreak moment.
Speaker 1 (43:54):
Yeah, And I'm trying. So my operation when I'm in
my two minute drill with bedtime is seven o'clock rolls around.
I get Scottie down, hopefully within thirty minutes feet of
the bottle rocker, read reader a little nighttime book and
get her down, and then I usually, like Rui'll just
(44:15):
be hanging out. She might get a TV coupon, depends
on where she's at with the TV coupons, but.
Speaker 3 (44:20):
She'll hang out.
Speaker 1 (44:20):
She'll play for ten She'll do things like either in
her room or hang out downstairs while I'm putting Scotty down,
And Rude does a great job, like, hey, you want
to help that out?
Speaker 2 (44:28):
Can you get in your pjs while I'm putting Scottie
down and kind of challenge her on like being a
big girl. And I can I know I can trust you,
Like I can trust that when I walk out of
this room, you're gonna be in your pj's, You're going
to be in your pull up.
Speaker 1 (44:40):
She does that. Yeah, And I'm trying to get Scottie
ready for bed. I'm putting her PJS on, I'm getting
in her sleepsack. I'm like set in the.
Speaker 2 (44:47):
Room, set in the mood, the same operation we have
every night.
Speaker 1 (44:51):
And as I get Scotty in the sleepsack, Ruth's just
crying like really starting to pick up, like a tantrum,
like breaking down.
Speaker 3 (44:59):
And I got there, sweetheart, what's going on?
Speaker 1 (45:00):
I put Scotty in the crib and then I walk
out into the hallway and I'm like, hey, sweetheart, what's
going on? And she's just crying. She's like, I miss mama,
I miss mamma. Can you put me to bed first?
Like I don't want you to put Scotty to bed first?
Speaker 2 (45:11):
Can you put me to bed first?
Speaker 1 (45:13):
And I'm like, sweetheart, like I have to get Scotty
needs it's her bottle time.
Speaker 2 (45:17):
I gotta put Scotty down. I gotta get her to bed.
I promise, I'm gonna go as fast as I can
so then I can spend it. It's just gonna be
me and you tonight and I'll spend time with you.
Speaker 1 (45:25):
I'll read you three books, I'll read you the story.
We'll do all the stuff, like we'll do all the things.
And she's struggling, like she's breaking down, having a tantwer.
I'm just like I'm starting to get stressed. I'm just like, gosh,
damn it, man, like I need please, like get a
hold of your emotions. I'm like saying this in my
head as I'm trying to soothe rough Scottie. Micah Parson's
on third down Demon's that's when she's on top of
(45:46):
the crib like and she's crying, and I'm like, sweetheart,
look at Scotty, like I just just please let me
put Scotty.
Speaker 2 (45:54):
I promise I'm gonna go fast. She's say, no, you're not.
You're not gonna go fast. You're not gonna put Scotty.
Speaker 1 (45:58):
Down, like I want you to put me down first,
and a whole thing's going on. I'm like, hey, Sweeter,
I know you miss Mama. I miss Mama too, Like
Mama's the best person in the world. Mama is Dadad's
favorite person.
Speaker 2 (46:07):
I love her. I love her and miss her as
much as you do right now. And I know it's hard.
I know it's hard. I'm like, but if you can
just help me for a moment, like just you can
go lay anywhere you want to. You can go lay
in your bed, you can go lay down on the
couch if you want to, because I know she's tired.
She was like trying to take that nap and everything else.
Speaker 1 (46:24):
You can go lay in our bed if you miss mama.
Lay on her side. Go lay it anywhere you want to.
I promise, I'm gonna get this done as fast as
I can. Just you look at Scotty, Jojo. I gotta
go help the little one out right now. And so
she's sobbing and she ends up like walking away and
her shoulders are down. I just feel bad because I'm like,
I don't know how else do. I'm like, you can
come sit in the room with me and Scotty, but
you can't. You can't be making loud noises because it'll
(46:45):
keep Scotty awake. Yeah, but whatever you want to do, sweetheart,
go lay with anywhere you want to. So I go
in to put Scotty down feet of the bottle, and
Scotty was pretty smooth. I get her down like within
thirty minutes. And as I'm feeding her the bottle, I'm
just hearing rue the echoes of her cries from downstairs,
and the cries are like, I miss you so much,
I love you so much, Mama, like she's talking to
(47:07):
mom and it was just a heartbreaker, bro. And I'm
just like checking the bottle and I'm like, she's dozing off.
I hope she goes asleep because I need to put
her down. I need to go down and really get
with Rue. Yeah, so I get Scottie down. Dude, I
go downstairs because I'm hearing the cries. I'm like, I
gotta go get to her. And I walk downstairs. She's
not on the couch. So I walk into my room.
I'm like, Okay, she's probably laying on the bed. I
(47:29):
walk in my room, bro, make a left and look
down on the floor. Rue is laying down on the
floor and she's holding our family photo just yelling that
I miss you so much.
Speaker 2 (47:38):
I love you so much, Mama. I love you so much, mama.
And it was the saddest thing in the world.
Speaker 3 (47:44):
B dude, it was so sad.
Speaker 1 (47:47):
It was like a it's just a heartbreaker, man. And
Charles checking in, how's everything going on? My g It
ain't like Rue struggling right now. And she's like, oh,
does she miss me? And I'm like, she misses you badly,
Like she's like she's like hurting, she missed you so much.
So orre like you know, I get on face that
we're getting on FaceTime with her and we're talking to her.
You can just tell Rue sad. And then I'm like Hey,
do you want to sleep with dad ad tonight again? Like,
(48:08):
you can sleep in the bed, you can sleep in
mama's spot. I'll put the photo right here by you.
We'll FaceTime with mom. I'll read you some stories. I'll
show her some Mama videos on Instagram. Oh yeah, and
that calmed her down.
Speaker 2 (48:19):
We get her to sleep. But that's kind of like
my dad heartbreaker.
Speaker 1 (48:22):
Like not it's not a loss, but it's like my
heartbreaker of the week, Like that was so sad.
Speaker 3 (48:26):
Such a heartbreaker and such a dad win too though
of like God, she loves y'all. That's yeah, awesome.
Speaker 1 (48:34):
Yeah, it's like I know, like as I'm telling Charles
how everything's going down there, it's breaking her heart that
I'm telling her the story. And I know as a
dad on the receiving end of some of the Hey,
she's missing you. She wants you to call back, this,
that the other. Just like when you're removed and far
away and you can't be there, it just makes you
sad because you know you're going to be coming home
and they just can't wrap their mind like everything's okay.
Speaker 2 (48:54):
Now, Mama's right here.
Speaker 1 (48:55):
Look, you're talking to her like she's just she's just
somewhere else right now. Yeah, but anytime we want to
call her, we can. I can show you videos. I
know you miss her and like, you know, you're giving
them hugs. But you know, the mom guilt for my
wife is kicking in, like as all this stuff's going on,
because it's just a heartbreaker to be away from the kiddos,
especially when they're struggling.
Speaker 2 (49:12):
They just don't they just don't like get it.
Speaker 3 (49:14):
And what a cheet code face time is. Yeah, thank
god for face what a cheek code. Jill has a
little nephew that I mean, she's face timed with maybe
five thousand times, has hung out in person over the
last year with maybe twice. But Jill is still one
of his favorite people that he instantly like sparks up
(49:38):
when she walks in the room because he's face timing.
Speaker 2 (49:40):
Her every night.
Speaker 3 (49:41):
Yeah gg I'm like, that's crazy that even over face
time they can like make those connections.
Speaker 2 (49:47):
Yeah yeah, but that was a heartbreaker, man.
Speaker 1 (49:50):
And the bad the habit that I've that I was
alluding to is last night, some Monday night. Yeah, I'm
sitting there and I'm like, Okay, I can't do three
days in a row with her in the bed with me.
Because you're just starting to create, you're getting in a
different you're you're starting to starting to dip your toe
in different waters that you don't want to set.
Speaker 2 (50:08):
This standard fee.
Speaker 1 (50:09):
Yeah, hey, you need to sleep in your bed. Roose upstairs.
She crushes it with bedtime. I put Scottie down. I
walk in her room. She's got all the peach she
got to pull up on, the pj's on, she's playing
for tend. She's got her little princess crown on. She's
got her purse strap over her shoulder. She's got all
this stuff on her body. And she's like, you know,
plaining imagination. And I walk in the room and I
(50:30):
have all I brought up her stuffed animals and sound
machine and toothbrush and toothpaste, hair brush, brought all that.
Speaker 2 (50:38):
Back upstairs, like into her room.
Speaker 1 (50:39):
Yeah, And I set it all down, and I go
downstairs to get the monitor for Scottie. And as I
go downstairs, grab the monitor for Scotty, go back upstairs
and put Rude out for bedtime.
Speaker 2 (50:48):
I walk in the room. Ruse got all the stuffed
animals in her arms, and the hair brush and the
toothpaste and the toothbrush, and I was like, sweetheart, let's
get to bed.
Speaker 3 (50:57):
What are we doing?
Speaker 1 (50:58):
And she was like, I want sleep upstairs with you?
And I'm like, baby, this is this bed is for
you to sleep in, like we got to start doing
We don't want to create a bad habit like that.
We don't get to do this all the time, like
you got to sleep in your bed and dad sleeps
in his bed.
Speaker 2 (51:12):
And she's like, but I want to sleep with you.
Speaker 1 (51:16):
And I just looked down at her and she's looking
up at me, and I'm just like, okay, let's go downstairs.
Speaker 3 (51:23):
Dude. How do you say no to that?
Speaker 2 (51:25):
You can't? You can't we go downstairs?
Speaker 3 (51:28):
She gets them.
Speaker 2 (51:29):
I'm like, hey, do you need me to help you.
Speaker 1 (51:30):
I'm like carrying all this stuff back downstairs, plugging it
in in my room, setting up shopping my room because
I'm thinking to myself, like I tell my wife and
she's like, babe, you're going to create a bad habit.
And I'm like, I know, I know, but I did
tell her. I said, hey, when Mama comes home, you
sleep in your bed, like this bed is for rude
to sleep in. Yeah, the bed downstairs for mom and
dadad as sleeping when mom comes home. You can't sleep
(51:50):
with us, do you understand? And she says yes, But dude,
I'm a I can't say no. And I love it too, Like, yeah,
I love little Ruthe sleeping with me when I when
I go out, because I'm like, all right, Dad is
gonna go out and sit in the living room watch
him like study up for tomorrow, watching TV show.
Speaker 2 (52:10):
You're gonna watch football on yet Dad is gonna watch
some football.
Speaker 1 (52:12):
But Dad's gonna be here in the cuddle you whenever,
you know, whenever I get done.
Speaker 2 (52:15):
Yeah, and just to come in and snuggle up next
to Rue, Like it's so awesome. I love it more
than she does.
Speaker 1 (52:23):
And so when my wife is like, you're kind of
I'm like, sweetheart, I know, but I also.
Speaker 2 (52:27):
Enjoy it too.
Speaker 3 (52:28):
Oh yeah, oh yeah, So.
Speaker 1 (52:31):
We got one brew and I think it'll be I
think we'll be sleeping together. I think she'll be in
my bed every night until mom comes home.
Speaker 3 (52:36):
Hey, if that, if that's what it turns into, Like,
let's say worst case scenario is that when Mom's out
of town and you know, Scotty, whenever she gets that yeah, whatever,
sleep with dad. I don't think that's that big of
a deal. And maybe not. Maybe some people. Are you
(52:57):
sure you gotta hold your boy accountable. He's doing bad
habits that's going on. If I saw little Rue holding
Teddy Bears, bro, I'm telling you stuff.
Speaker 2 (53:08):
Her arms were like this fool with the She had
the hairbrush in her hands, she had her like five
stuffed animals that she wanted to bring down. She didn't
have the sound machine.
Speaker 3 (53:16):
And then she was like.
Speaker 2 (53:16):
Holding her toothbrush and no toothpaste. And I was like,
what's what's going on here?
Speaker 3 (53:20):
And she was like, we'll go downstairs, no shot.
Speaker 2 (53:25):
Sleep in your bed. I want to sleep downstairs with you,
no shot, no shot.
Speaker 3 (53:29):
Answer is yes, immedia.
Speaker 1 (53:31):
And there's just you know, we talk about being in
this timeframe, she's gonna get bigger. There's gonna be you know,
there's gonna come a time to where she doesn't want
anything to do with sleeping next to.
Speaker 2 (53:41):
Dad ad or being around dad ad. Oh yeah, and
I love it. But I am just a sucker, bro,
I said, but what.
Speaker 3 (53:49):
Can you do? Man? I don't blame you. What can
you do? I don't blame you.
Speaker 2 (53:53):
So that's going on that's happening.
Speaker 3 (53:56):
Uh, that's a really good dad loss. Like I know,
we joke around, we say good a lot, but like
that is a good dad loss. Or you know, whatever
your low was of the week, Like.
Speaker 1 (54:07):
The importance will be when Mom saw them or we're
both of them because whenever mom gets home, I gotta
fly out Wednesday night to New York for ESPN.
Speaker 3 (54:14):
Oh and then.
Speaker 1 (54:15):
I'll be out Thursday night for the Thursday night football
stream whenever bedtime's happening.
Speaker 2 (54:20):
So I think the big thing is like she might
want to sleep with.
Speaker 3 (54:26):
Sleep with Mama's on Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (54:28):
Night, but it's when bod chairs are there.
Speaker 1 (54:30):
It's like we gotta hey, hey, no, no, no, you
gotta sleep in your bed.
Speaker 3 (54:34):
Uh huh, Well you can do some kind of incentivizing
of that. You'll come up with something.
Speaker 1 (54:40):
I had to come up with something on Spot last night.
I was like, hey, sweet Art, let's brush your hair.
And she's gotten into this new I want to read
a book before I brush my hair, and it's like,
you don't want to sit down and turn the lights
off read a book. Then you going to brushing their hair.
Then she wants to read another book. Then you do
brushing your teeth. It's like, I want to brush your hair.
We read the books while you're drinking your milk, then
we go in and brush your teeth. Yeah, And and
she was down in the in my room.
Speaker 2 (55:02):
She's like, no, I want to read a book first,
I said, sweetheart, you're in Dadad's room.
Speaker 1 (55:05):
That means you you go by Dadad's rules. Oh, Dadd
wants to we can brush your after a book. But
if we brush your hair after a book, we're going
to do it up in your room. So we can
brush your hair now and you can sleep with Dadad,
or we can go upstairs read a book and brush
your hair. And then she just sat there and like
stared at me and kind of was saying about it
for a second.
Speaker 2 (55:19):
Then she just walked over handed me the brush. Yeah. Yeah,
this is one win.
Speaker 3 (55:22):
I can like, hey, there you go. You chalked it up.
I dude, there's not a chance. I'm just trying to
like run any situation through my head of just where
I could sit there and be like no, no, no, especially
at that age, at that age.
Speaker 2 (55:38):
Yeah, that's all right, especially uh see, especially at that age.
Speaker 1 (55:42):
But when they're just in a really good mood or
when they're very much cooperative, because again, three years old,
the three year old era, they're very intense with their emotions,
which I think is ultimately a good thing. You want
them to feel their emotions. You want them like working
through their emotions and anything else and kind of guide
them through their emotions.
Speaker 2 (55:59):
But the three year three year old era is very
much like very intense emotions.
Speaker 1 (56:03):
If something kind of goes sideways, I hang on a second,
what are we doing here?
Speaker 2 (56:08):
Here? Is all you have to say.
Speaker 1 (56:09):
I gotta catch myself arguing with her, you know what
I mean, because she might like lose it or get
into the whiny voice or something, and I'll just basically
say out loud how she should be talking to me.
Speaker 2 (56:21):
Like let's just say, for example, she did I want
to I want to pouch?
Speaker 1 (56:25):
I wanna I want She's whining about a pouch, and like, hey, sweet,
that DA doesn't accept the way you're talking to me.
And then she might she might keep let's just say
she keeps whinding, but I'll go and get the pouch.
If it's like snack time er, like, hey, yes, she
should have a pouch right now, I'll go hand to
the pouch. Hey, hey, dad, d could I have a
pouch right now for a snack? And then when I
hand you the pouch, you say thank you, Like that's
(56:46):
all you need to say. I were on the same team.
You don't need to whine. You don't need to get
in all this like emotional state of like not getting something.
All you gotta say is, hey dad, hey, dadda, can
I have a pouch please? And then I might say yes,
I might say no, but either way that's how you
need to be talking to dead and like show you know,
their minds are kind of like going and thinking about
it because sometimes, bro, when they get in that whining phase,
(57:09):
it's like I just boil, Like, bro, what are you doing?
Speaker 2 (57:13):
What are you doing right now? You don't have to
sit here and whine, but you gotta try. I'm like, okay,
she's three, the emotions, the brain, that development happening right now.
Something just you know, she lost her sticker.
Speaker 3 (57:24):
It's almost like what you said earlier about like how
you have to tell rue sometimes, like hey, you can't
you can't be talking to Scotti like that because Scotti's
just a baby. Yeah, Like you're having to tell yourself,
you know, you know, I gotta teach Rue how to
how to talk like an adult because the Roue isn't.
Speaker 1 (57:42):
There yet, right, they don't understand. Yeah, and you're kind
of showing them. They're very very observant, like they are smart. Yeah,
they're thinking through a lot of things. They just need
to know what it looks like and how it's done.
Because a lot of times, like where I connect with
Rue on a lot of levels is I just always
bring up a past experience to match where whatever experience
she's having. Like again, I brought up like losing a sticker.
(58:03):
If she lost a sticker, it's like me just making
up a story about me losing stickers all the time.
Speaker 3 (58:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (58:08):
So that way you can like get on their level
and they start listening to you, like, oh that it
goes through stuff like this, or like Scotty and I
gotta tell her, dude, how many times I gotta tell
Scotty not to go do that, not to go do this?
Speaker 2 (58:17):
Oh, Scotty, jojo, don't do that.
Speaker 1 (58:19):
Or you know when we get frustrated when Scotty gets
into X, Y and Z.
Speaker 2 (58:23):
But what do we gotta do?
Speaker 1 (58:23):
We just go over there, Hey, Scotty, know we don't
do that, and we we just bring her back over to.
Speaker 2 (58:27):
The mat, like you have to be patient with their sweetheart. Yeah,
and she they're listening.
Speaker 1 (58:31):
Yeah, it's just getting through that barrier of those like
reactive moments as a parent on like wanting to immediately
correct them because you're upset by the way they're talking
to you.
Speaker 3 (58:43):
Oh, big time, big time. I'll I'll have to bite
my lip or bite my tongue on that for sure,
because I and very quick to you know, jump on
something that I don't like, especially with the dogs. Like
I'm very big on like the I you know, real
loud and like kind of nip it. Yeah, dude, And
I just the patience will be some you know, something
(59:04):
that I'll have to dive into. But I love the
story aspect of it because just thinking of like my
dad was big on that as you were telling that story,
I was just thinking of myself of like my dad
did that a lot now that I think about it,
and it does work. Did what a lot?
Speaker 2 (59:19):
Just just like leveling with you with.
Speaker 3 (59:22):
You or like hey, like I wouldn't do that. Here's
why when I was, you know, fourteen, I did that.
It turned out like this just want to let you know.
And then I'm sitting there going okay, like that awesome
that one like Dad, you know, kind of told me
something personal or whatever. But two, yeah, that does sound
(59:42):
like something I wouldn't want to do, so I'll take
his word for it. Yeah, I was.
Speaker 2 (59:47):
One thing you'll learn too is how you are with
the dog in front of your kid. Oh really, yeah,
because like you know, Waffle, she's a bulldog, English bulldog,
lover her Yeah, stubborn.
Speaker 3 (01:00:00):
Oh yeah, I got my taste when I was on
the beanback chair. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:00:04):
Yeah, to you know, I can like lose my cool
with Waffle. She's not like listening to me. Well, whether
it's get her off the couch, there's like a challenge
moment going on with the dog. And to where pre rue,
it's like I'm you know, more reactive with Waffle, yeah,
or like pushing her off the couch or like doing
something to get her off. And then if she snaps
(01:00:24):
at me, it's like we're both kind of posturing over
and I'm like standing over with my fists.
Speaker 3 (01:00:28):
He does that. He that is not to be funny
on the show. I have seen it with Woffle was
like getting on me and was like man handling me. Yeah, yeah,
pulled her off and he started just standing over and
Waffle's looking up and going, yeah, Wills, what are you
(01:00:49):
gonna do? What are you gonna do?
Speaker 1 (01:00:52):
Man?
Speaker 3 (01:00:52):
Waffle?
Speaker 1 (01:00:53):
Waffle, get off the couch, move and to where I'll
see Rue start trying to be snappy at times with Water.
I'm just thinking, oh, no, no, no, this is this
is because of me. This is because I've been the
example for it in front of Waffle. She thinks this
is how you have to handle the dog. And I've
been a very poor example in front of my daughter.
But that's one thing you like, learn to balance however
you you are with uh.
Speaker 3 (01:01:14):
You know, your animals.
Speaker 1 (01:01:14):
I'm not saying like if you're like an abusive person,
but I'm saying, like, the times that you do react
to the dog because patience is low and it's just
you guys at the house when you do have kids,
then you see it coming out, you know, flashes and
the kids, and I'm thinking, Okay, I have to change
my style with my dog in front of Rue, because
Ruth's just mimicking the way that I will be with Waffle.
Speaker 2 (01:01:35):
Because Waffle is stubborn. Bro like Waffle. It's like she'll
be on the couch and she tries to get to
the highest point. She thinks she's the alpha. So what
these dogs try to do?
Speaker 1 (01:01:43):
Yeah, it gets the highest point, lay on the highest
coashin and she just looks like a beanbag sitting on
top of the on top of the cushions.
Speaker 3 (01:01:49):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (01:01:50):
And yeah, dude, I love she's She's an awesome dog.
She loves love. She wants to cut on. Oh yes,
And I'll be like, Waffle, can you get off the couch?
And like, as I'm walking over to Waffle, you just
kind of see the you know, the growling start happening
because they're very again, they're just stubborn, bro.
Speaker 2 (01:02:07):
And if Ru's sitting there, I have to completely like
rewire my thinking because if Ruth's not there, I'm thinking, Okay,
you want to you want to shot at the title
right now?
Speaker 3 (01:02:16):
Yeah? Here here we go again.
Speaker 1 (01:02:17):
What do you owe for? Who's undefeated in this match?
But Waffle like won't move, you know what I mean?
Where you gotta now? I just go out, like walk
in the pantry bag, Waffle want to treat and then
shake the tree.
Speaker 2 (01:02:29):
She comes running. I'm like, all right, I got you, Yeah,
who who's the dumb one now?
Speaker 3 (01:02:33):
By big one? And I was gonna ask you too,
what Waffle thinks about scott Zilla just tearing up her
water bowl. But my big one right now is when
guests come over. Uh, we've really implemented, especially with Scarlett
now in the house, and it's funny you bring up dogs.
That's actually my dad loss. We have a baby gate.
(01:02:55):
They stay downstairs whenever we have guests over, and they're
really yippie behind the baby gate, but they do a
good job of listening to Dad. I just got to
show a little bit of force, and so I will
literally to my house guests. I'll go, guys, I'm so sorry.
I'm just gonna be laded just one time. But they
will not bark for you know, the foreseeable future. If
(01:03:17):
I do this walk over to the baby gate away
in the house guests, I just go hi, and they
sit and they're silent for the rest of the night.
Not bad, I.
Speaker 2 (01:03:29):
Don't know, I don't think so.
Speaker 5 (01:03:30):
The same issue we're all yell when I go to
Knoxville to see Alex, We're all got she don't yell
at them, And I'm like, look, she's not moving anymore.
Speaker 3 (01:03:43):
She stopped. He can't wait for him to be a dad,
by the way, cannot wait in a good way, like
I'm preparing such a good dad, dude, he is. I
I just love the impersonation of Alex.
Speaker 5 (01:04:03):
You don't yell at us, Oh, she'll get at me,
And I'm just something about it bubbles in me where
I'm like, it's an immediate but it works where you
get it. It's like a snap gets their attention because
if you go, hey, Scottie, Scott but Alex's dogs named
Scotti and hey, come over here, and she she'll nicest
dog ever, but she'll kind of wander over or maybe
won't listen to you, but then you know, eventually it'll
(01:04:25):
be a Scotty works like a charm Yeah every time.
Speaker 3 (01:04:30):
Yeah, yeah, those.
Speaker 1 (01:04:31):
Are like it's like, it's like two things that I've
changed with Waffle is one, instead of diving into that
altercation with her on the couch, it's going like, hey, Waffle,
do you want to treat and she comes back. And
the second one is you know, when you have you
have your kids, it's like people say, hey, you love
your dog. I'm taking photos of Waffle. I'm doing all
these things with Waffle before the kids come, and I'm
(01:04:52):
telling Waffle like you'll never beat my number two.
Speaker 3 (01:04:54):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:04:55):
But the moment your kids come, it's a different story.
They go down the totem pole, they do. They feel
it as well. The dog feels as well. And what
I had to switch with Waffle on the second note
is like, say she's over in the area around the
kids or with the kids, or potentially bothering the kids,
instead of like getting on Waffle and moving her out
of the situation, because they're going through there the little
(01:05:15):
dog goes.
Speaker 3 (01:05:15):
They're going through their.
Speaker 1 (01:05:16):
Own little process too of just being sad that they're
not the thing anymore. But instead of like removing Waffle
from the situation or getting on Waffle for kind of
being in that being in their space, it's been more
so teaching the kids how to be sweet to Waffle
and be kind and hey, she just sniff and she
just wants she's just curious, she wants to play. She
sees you playing with the thing, You're having a lot
of fun. And the way she senses everything she uses
(01:05:37):
her nose. So you just got a pattern. If you
don't wonder there just mom or Dad, can you please?
Can you please move Waffle? And then in a sweet way,
it's like we'll get Waffle away. But those have been
the two things that I've had to kind of check
myself on as a dog owner, being an example in
front of my kids is the altercation moment on the couch,
like getting her off the couch, and then when they're
in when Waffle just kind of mosy's over and she's
(01:05:58):
kind of in their space and they start like when
r will start like snapping and yelling, and I think
to myself, she's just she's mimicking Dad right now, and
I've got to change something up because she's got to
like learn that, hey, Waffle doesn't know either, you know
how Scotty doesn't know. Waffle doesn't know she's a dumb
little dog. Oh, she doesn't get it, and you kind
of like softly remove them. It's kind of rekindled something
between me and Waffle as well, because there's been moments
(01:06:19):
where I've had to like look in the mirror and
be like, yeah, she does.
Speaker 2 (01:06:21):
She's not getting a lot of love from Dad right now.
Speaker 5 (01:06:23):
I also kind of just reiterate just to clarify too,
I don't scream at my dogs a lot.
Speaker 3 (01:06:28):
It's just more to get their attention. Gotta be careful
with the parent that dog parents because as soon as
Scotty comes up, Hey, come here, girl, come here. Oh,
it's so.
Speaker 5 (01:06:37):
Cute, positive reinforcement immediately. It's more just to get their attention. Yeah,
before people just come in, I promise you.
Speaker 1 (01:06:42):
We got we got PT sixers sixers and you got
some some dog team sixers in here.
Speaker 3 (01:06:47):
You got some dog parents.
Speaker 1 (01:06:48):
In here like this will kind of just challenge Waffle
at all times and swing on her. I've had to
check myself in some situations, but those have been the
learning curves in parenthood with your animal.
Speaker 3 (01:06:58):
Couldn't have asked for a better segue into my dad
loss this week. And also for any PT sickos, I'm
seeing the PT six echoes on the internet. By the way,
I'm loving it so the PT sickos that are also
Chef sichos. Look out on socials for our USF unboxing video.
(01:07:20):
Chef absolutely killed this unboxing video. I can't wait for
you to see it.
Speaker 2 (01:07:24):
I'm excited to see it too. We got another box
from USF.
Speaker 3 (01:07:27):
We did We got a whole package from USF. Shout
out bulls, Shout out the bulls from their equipment manager for.
Speaker 1 (01:07:34):
The Dad's POD's gonna it's the unboxing. So we're gonna
be like Coach Cruden over here in the dad work. Truly,
people just teams are just gonna start sending in boxes
for for dad culture.
Speaker 3 (01:07:43):
I'll sport it. I picked up one of those USF
shirts so fast, it was so soft.
Speaker 1 (01:07:49):
Don't do it the some of the siccos in that audience,
they'll say, you're copying.
Speaker 3 (01:07:54):
Yeah, oh love to be careful already still agree? Yeah,
yeah do we not? What are we supposed to just
throw the box away? Yeah? Yoh free close, damn got
throw it away? Uh no, go ahead, chep oh.
Speaker 5 (01:08:10):
I was just gonna say, shout out to USEF and yeah,
we don't want to copy Coach Gruden, but this is
we did shout out all the equipment managers out. Yeah,
and they want to show love, so we want to
reiterate that. But yeah, shout out USF and Arkansas for sending.
Speaker 2 (01:08:24):
Us inspired by coach Yes, inspired by inspired by Gruden?
Speaker 3 (01:08:29):
Yeah, which is that such a cry?
Speaker 1 (01:08:31):
I don't forget where he was before Barcelon that was
coaching your boy. Hey, come on ouh, my dad who's
got the Grooden grinder shirt hanging in his closet. Week
won twenty sixteen season.
Speaker 3 (01:08:43):
People forget about that. People forget and you were You
were like top twenty five hottest player in twenty sixteen.
I think I was number seven. Some are saying I
summer saying, Derek, if you google it, it's the best
Google of all time, it's the best google.
Speaker 2 (01:08:57):
Like the most attractive players I was like on the
list was just pre veneers.
Speaker 1 (01:09:01):
Yes, oh yeah, but that's I don't have a smile
going on in the photo, Like I'm just kind of
sitting there. And then, you know, whenever I was promoting,
whenever I was like having fun with it back in
twenty fifteen or sixteen, whenever that was people are talking about,
you know, the teeth.
Speaker 2 (01:09:15):
And everything else.
Speaker 1 (01:09:16):
Because Julian Ellman's on it, I might have been higher
than Julian.
Speaker 3 (01:09:19):
You were.
Speaker 2 (01:09:20):
Joe Flacco was number one.
Speaker 3 (01:09:21):
You were higher than some some NFL some times hotties,
some hotties. Yeah, you were up there.
Speaker 4 (01:09:29):
Uh, there's not an article that says we're referring to
actual looks fanatics dock Coomas Compotle list of the most
attractive teams, The Redskins ranked third, and then the very
next paragraph, linebacker Will Coompton was voted the most attractive
player on the Skins and the fifth best looking in
the league.
Speaker 3 (01:09:45):
Top five. I didn't know your top five.
Speaker 1 (01:09:48):
Buddy, and I shared a locker room with U, with
Ryan Kerrigan, who's a specimen of a human being.
Speaker 3 (01:09:55):
A piece of meat. You will a piece of meat
into a human meat missile. Yeah, as they say, Compton,
look at Derek holding up. I love that we have
the producer camp fifth in the league, fifth in the
league away from me. That's what the five and then
take your tenth year. But they can't take fifth best
looking in the NFL. The five and fifty one. They
(01:10:17):
don't know it does mean top.
Speaker 2 (01:10:20):
Five to top five type shit?
Speaker 3 (01:10:22):
Tight shit?
Speaker 2 (01:10:24):
Uh my dad lost kicking your dog?
Speaker 3 (01:10:26):
Go ahead, I can't go again. No, Dad loss was
forgetting the dogs, is exactly what you were talking about.
We had a great night on that would have been
Sunday night where we did or no, it was Saturday.
(01:10:47):
I'm so sorry because college football was going on and
I was grilling up a bunch of steaks. I was
grilling up chicken. We had some Halipino poppers. Fantastic night,
And honestly I was in my dad uh as far
as like spending a ton of time with Scarlett pouring
into Jill. We're coming off of a bad weekend. This
(01:11:08):
is like a makeup game. This is like a week
gotta lock in, This is a we know what this
program was built on, and I'm just hitting everything full force,
killing it as a dad in my own brain got
too cocky, got way too cocky, because what did I
forget to do walk the dogs? What did I also
(01:11:28):
forget to do that night? Put that new baby gate
up that we've implemented. So Goose, who Goose is very
attached to me. He was a rescue, he was tied
to a pole behind a liquor store during COVID. Yes,
he's our little schnauzerdoodle. He's a little schnoodle. He got
very attached to me because Mom's favorite is Wriggly and
(01:11:50):
it's very well known in the house. Jill loves Goose.
Jill loves Goose.
Speaker 2 (01:11:55):
Like Goose is what? Like Goose and Wriggly are watching
the episode right now.
Speaker 3 (01:11:58):
Yeh yah, yeah, yeah yeah. Jill loves Goosey, Goosey. Mom
loves you, Mama loves you. But Dad kind of has
to step in there and be a surrogate love factory
for Goose because he doesn't always get it from Mom.
So anyways, I digress. He's a little jealous of Scarlet,
and Dad does in Scarlet, And uh, do you want
(01:12:19):
to tell the listeners what gift you got Jill and
I or y'all's family got Jill and I for Scarlet?
Speaker 2 (01:12:29):
Do you remember I've got you a couple? You have
got it?
Speaker 3 (01:12:32):
This one's in our nursery. Oh the rocking chair. The
rocking chair. It's a good chair, isn't it.
Speaker 1 (01:12:38):
I think about it every night when I'm sitting her
rocking and I hear, you know, maybe a squeak at
the end or at the far back, and I just
think to myself, I wonder if sure he's rocking right
now too.
Speaker 3 (01:12:47):
Every freaking night Jill and I are in that chair.
We love that chair. And Goose knows that that's the
chair that Dada sits with Scarlet and tells him no
whenever he's trying to get up and get his pets.
And there was a massive mark on top of the
He jumped on the chair and just gave it up.
(01:13:11):
Mark the top of it like where your back would
go as like a fu. You forgot to walk me,
You didn't put the gate up. So I'm gonna show you.
This is goose territory. This is a goose house.
Speaker 2 (01:13:24):
Do we have a standoff?
Speaker 3 (01:13:27):
I was livid, pissed. I swallowed it because I was
like the right thing to because they forget after they
do it, like I you know, I've heard with dogs
like if you catch them in the act of something. Yeah,
if you catch them in the act, you can, you know,
correct the behavior. But I mean, I'm waking up the
next morning and we're finding the huge piece staying on
(01:13:48):
the rocky chair. Oh you didn't see until the next morning. Yes,
this was at night because we had gone to bed
and I forgot to walk the because we stayed up
late grilling and we're doing scarscar tuckns and ep on
the chair.
Speaker 1 (01:14:01):
Yes, dude, he went in there. That's the one thing
I was scared of when I got that color.
Speaker 3 (01:14:07):
I know, in the middle of the night.
Speaker 1 (01:14:09):
That's the one thing I was scared of when it's
a white white jumped up on. It was the one
that had to get ordered too, and there was you know,
it didn't get there right in time for.
Speaker 3 (01:14:16):
This ordered this very nice chair. Now, however, I was thinking,
do you want the white get dicey just so you
feel good and everybody at home, if you're on you
know the edge of your seat. Stain did come out.
We got some think God, yes, stan did come out.
We do have some utensils and stuff and steamers and
whatever that like, we're good. But it was a good
(01:14:40):
reminder of don't don't forget about the dogs. We got
a love on the dogs.
Speaker 2 (01:14:46):
It's a hard reminder, bro a hard one.
Speaker 3 (01:14:49):
And I was so mad at goose, but I understood.
And it's also hilarious how the dog brain works. If
he's like Dad has totally forgotten about me, this little
crying thing all the time. He's obsessed with it.
Speaker 2 (01:15:00):
Yeah, this dog, this this still thing. Can't sit, he
sits spin, can't do it, can't stand and dance for
retreat and.
Speaker 3 (01:15:06):
He's getting this thing's getting treats every three hours.
Speaker 1 (01:15:09):
Yeah, you can't let this thing. How you got to
change them all the time. You just let me outside
and he.
Speaker 3 (01:15:13):
Sits in that chair all proud with his new little thing.
He's given it treats all the time in that chair.
I'll fucking show him.
Speaker 2 (01:15:19):
Yeah, where's that thing's dog collar?
Speaker 3 (01:15:21):
Just imagine, imagine just him going directly to that chair
in the middle of the night. Showed him and then
went back and crawled underneath our bed because they sleep
underneath our bed. Yeah, but that was my dad loss.
Speaker 2 (01:15:37):
It's a it's a quick Did you lose it on
him the next morning?
Speaker 3 (01:15:39):
Is if it just happened? No, just because like with
they are doing a really good job with the new
system that we set up of like the baby gate.
You guys sleep here, you eat it, these times, you
do walks it, these times. The accidents in the house
are completely gone pretty much. I mean, like we've really
cracked down on the dogs and they've been doing a
(01:16:02):
great job. So I really didn't want to hold it
against him, to be honest. Also, another dad loss, this
goes with forgetting about the dogs. We hadn't given him
a haircut in decades, and he's a shnoodle, so he's
all matted up and after the accident, then the next morning,
I'm you know, kind of rubbing on him and stuff.
I'm looking at his matts. I'm like, I've completely forgotten
(01:16:24):
about it, you dude. I spent four hours on Sunday.
Remember when we were trying to connect and get together.
I was like, Hey, I don't think it's gonna work well.
We have this.
Speaker 1 (01:16:33):
We were trying to put together a little dad day.
It's like, hey, bring Scarlett over, let's do something the
words to the dad's watching the kids.
Speaker 3 (01:16:40):
It didn't work out, and it would have been epic, dude,
And I've gotten two separate dms of people saying, Sherman,
is Scarlet potentially gonna become Scarzilla if she becomes friends
with scott Zilla, And I'm like, I would love I
would love it too, bro. If she matched that energy
and they became two little peas in a pod, I
(01:17:00):
wouldn't hate it.
Speaker 1 (01:17:02):
Scarzvilla, we're just both there, like making him play fetch
with stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:17:06):
You see.
Speaker 2 (01:17:06):
You saw the videos with the marker over the weekend.
Speaker 3 (01:17:08):
Go get it, go on Scarlet and she just Scarlet
beats out. Scotty will just leaves the room.
Speaker 1 (01:17:16):
You can't snap on him. They're young, They're not gonna
get it. So yeah, you got to remove yourself from
the room.
Speaker 3 (01:17:20):
Scotty, you're eight months older than What are you doing?
What are you doing? That would break me? Oh? Yeah, yeah,
but yeah that was that was my dad loss.
Speaker 2 (01:17:32):
Do Where were even at right now?
Speaker 3 (01:17:36):
Crack a cold one? Yes, we'd love to crack a
cold one. I got a little ad read that goes
along with it. What are we cracking a cold one with?
We're cracking a cold one with Liquid IV. This show
is sponsored by Liquid IV. And now I know that
summer is coming to an end, but we are in
like the precipice of fall. It is still hot here
(01:17:58):
in Nashville.
Speaker 2 (01:17:59):
It's a nineties this week. You got a couple of
nineties days this week, and.
Speaker 3 (01:18:02):
You have to stay hydrated. That is the peak time
to stay hydrated. When you're dressing a little too warm,
you know what I mean. It's a little hot outside,
you're sweating. You gotta rehydrate, and the best way to
do is with Liquid IV.
Speaker 1 (01:18:15):
Yeah, because you also might like forget to stay hydrated
and drink your water throughout the day, especially if you're
in parent mode. You kind of forget to eat, you
can forget to drink. You're taking care of the kiddos,
you're not taking care of yourself. Great way to fill
that energy back up is with some Liquid IV.
Speaker 3 (01:18:29):
That is very true. And I know that this is
an ad read but true story. Was feeling a little lightheaded,
a little peckish, I like, had a little snack. But
we have some liquid ivs at home that Jill bought,
and I popped one of those and I was boom
ready to go, like I truly felt it. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
but yeah, just one stick and a sixteen ounce of
(01:18:49):
water hydrates better than just water alone. Liquid IV has
three times the electrolytes of the leading supports drink. It
has eight essential vitamins and nutrients always non gluten free,
dairy free, and soy free. Savor the last bits of
summer with liquid IV. Tear poor, live more. Go to
(01:19:10):
liquidiv dot com and get twenty percent off your first
order with code bustin at checkout. That's twenty percent off
your first order with code bustin at liquidiv dot com.
Speaker 2 (01:19:24):
Great read.
Speaker 3 (01:19:25):
I wanted that fly so bad, dude.
Speaker 2 (01:19:27):
I know it's rough. By the way, we didn't even
talk about.
Speaker 3 (01:19:30):
These Let's talk about it.
Speaker 2 (01:19:33):
Let's talk about I was gonna say the fly landed
on this good one or the four of the dads
when I wanted to pop it but I couldn't get it.
But we had gifts come in.
Speaker 3 (01:19:39):
We had some major gifts come in. And if people
remember from one episode, I thought this was just next
level performance. I quoted King Thaden of Rohan from Lord
of the Rings, Return of the King. You did and
he printed out this mug you printed on a lot,
printed it out. Is it Justin? This is this is uh?
(01:20:02):
This is Justin Klarner.
Speaker 2 (01:20:04):
Justin Clarner. Thank you for the gifts.
Speaker 1 (01:20:06):
Thank you for the little gift package, bro, with all
of these different little.
Speaker 3 (01:20:09):
I don't even know what you call these little diss Yeah,
they're drink coasters. There we go, this coasters. There were six.
Speaker 1 (01:20:17):
Got to keep it under an hour, which, by the way,
we do need to keep this episode under an hour.
Speaker 3 (01:20:20):
Look at the Nebraska one day you've printed out for you.
Speaker 2 (01:20:23):
That's why that one's propped up. That's hard bussing week.
Speaker 3 (01:20:26):
Hard a big week for house, not a football podcast,
not a fool, big week for ness, big week for Nebraska. Also,
Justin wrote us a letter. Do we want to read
that very quickly sure read the letter two before the
Dad's podcast. Hope you enjoyed these coasters I made for
you guys during my paternity leave. Congratulations. Justin apologies if
I went overboard, but my quality control and R and
(01:20:47):
D team my wife have me create multiple variations of
the designs. They are all three D printed and I
designed all of them, except for the college plaques I
found online. I found you guys shortly before the birth
of my daughter and was instantly hooked. The first episode
I listened to was episode four. I had it on
while I was out doing yard work, and I kept
(01:21:08):
stopping inside to replay bits for my wife. We both
love the show. So now every Wednesday, my wife, my
one month old daughter, and I watch it together. I
love it that I get to follow Scherm as he
goes through his journey through the PT six ranks a
couple of weeks ahead of me. Love the show. Please
do not keep it under an hour. All the best
(01:21:29):
from Justin, Michelle and Little Emerson Klarner. Let's go Shout
out the fam. Shout out the Fam. He's good.
Speaker 1 (01:21:35):
PT six unit over there, good PT six one one?
Con I heard in that note.
Speaker 3 (01:21:41):
What's going on.
Speaker 2 (01:21:41):
He started with episode four. I want to know if
he's went back and went one through three.
Speaker 3 (01:21:45):
Printing off these many drink coasters.
Speaker 2 (01:21:48):
I guarantee it because I know that there are new PT.
Speaker 3 (01:21:51):
Six.
Speaker 2 (01:21:51):
It ohs like you'll be seeing people. I went all
the way back and I'm called all the way up
from episode one.
Speaker 3 (01:21:58):
I had some body dmy just the other night about that.
I sent him a little voice message back.
Speaker 2 (01:22:03):
I love that you sent Yeah, you sent them. Oh
my gosh, what happened.
Speaker 1 (01:22:07):
I'm thinking of a voice message I had to send
for this dude's birthday on September third. Oh no, I
responded to the gallon everything and said, I'll have this
video cooked up for you.
Speaker 3 (01:22:17):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (01:22:17):
It was like late at night when I was like, uh,
it was like when I was putting the kid, when
I was putt skytie down. I kind of going through
some dms because you're trying to keep up with everything, everything,
and I'll try and click on the ones that seem
longer to where like, you know, if they're sharing something
with you, try to hit him back with a message,
and gosh, dang.
Speaker 3 (01:22:34):
It is he GBR? If he's GBR, I think the
make good is on House Rules give a little belated
birthday shout out.
Speaker 2 (01:22:44):
I'm scared I won't be able to find.
Speaker 3 (01:22:46):
It because if I was GBR and Will Compton is
on Matt Rules podcast and he goes, oh, by the way,
happy belated Cameron, I would lose my mind. I don't
even care if it's four months after my birthday. I'm
going nuts. But Yeah, the DM that I got was
a guy basically saying, Hey, I'm so glad that I
(01:23:08):
found you guys at like episode eight, because I'm still
to the point where I don't have to wait till
the next week for like a new episode. And I
hit him back in the voice message. I said, that's
crazy that you say that, because I got onto Game
of Thrones in like season four, season five, and that's
how I felt about Game of Thrones. So the fact
(01:23:29):
that you feel that way about the show that we're
doing tells me everything I need to know about.
Speaker 2 (01:23:34):
How nice reference too with the Game of Thrones.
Speaker 3 (01:23:36):
Yeah, dude, And I was like, what an honor to
like be that for some listener that they're like, yes,
I don't have to wait another week, Because that's a
good feeling.
Speaker 1 (01:23:44):
To the gal I'm supposed to send a video note
to please for the love of God, DM me back
so it gets to the top of the inbox.
Speaker 2 (01:23:51):
I was just trying to scroll through to find it.
Speaker 1 (01:23:52):
I'm on mic, I got anxiety right now that I
didn't get back to her and did' send that video.
Speaker 3 (01:23:56):
That's okay, ugh damn to make him feel better. I
will also brag on Will over the weekend. I think
I shared this with you briefly. Somebody came to our
table at Jill's birthday dinner and UH basically just said, Hey,
I just want to let you know Love Busting Love
the brand. UH just want to shout out Will really
(01:24:19):
quick because I reached out to him when I was
going through a rough time and the words they had
for me via DM we're going back and forth. It
really helped me out a lot. I was like, dude,
what a cool thing to like hear about your boss
makes you really happy of the place that you work at.
Speaker 2 (01:24:35):
I appreciate the words of information in a time of need.
Right now, Yeah, I feel like I let I let this,
I let this couple down right here.
Speaker 3 (01:24:42):
Dude, you have so many of those types of things
come in your way that if you missed one. Nobody's perfect, dude. Yeah,
and maybe I'm going too easy on will you might
be ru can sleep in the bed. It's okay to
miss the birthday shout outs. But I feel that way. Yeah,
I feel that way.
Speaker 2 (01:24:59):
I gotta find it. I gotta I gotta make that right.
I gotta make that right.
Speaker 1 (01:25:02):
Crack a cold one, crack a segment, my crack a
cold one, and will you give.
Speaker 3 (01:25:07):
Me a liquid? IV? I would actually love to make
a little liquid.
Speaker 2 (01:25:10):
Would you like, uh, firecracker, the popsicle or would you
like the I'll do the popsicle, the mango passion fruit.
Speaker 3 (01:25:18):
I do like mango passion fruit, but I'll do popsicle.
Speaker 2 (01:25:22):
Nope, And it's my shot. And somebody giving a little
honk to the little pt Sico.
Speaker 3 (01:25:28):
This one is firecracker. They're like the bottle.
Speaker 1 (01:25:31):
So my crack a cold one. This week is going
to be getting that alone time with your kids. As
a parent, I think it's it's always like you're you're
in the trenches when your partner is not with you
and they're doing their thing, you know, out for a
work thing, like I'm out a lot of the times,
(01:25:51):
like at least once a week to where Charles handling
bedtime duty and you're doing the d You're doing all
things with the kids.
Speaker 2 (01:25:57):
I get the kiddos there.
Speaker 1 (01:25:58):
It's a it's a full time gig, but it's like
having those solo times that you do with the kids
because you just build your relations your personal relationship with
them a lot more. I feel like with Rue, there's
a lot more of those one on one teaching moments
that happen because it is just you there. So when
chaos is kind of breaking out or something's happening, and
(01:26:19):
you know, it's just you, like nobody's coming to save you.
It's it's been a favorite quote of mine forever. Nobody's
coming to save you. Nobody cares, work harder. It's like
stuff like that that you get reminded of in those
moments to where you have more intentional time getting to
sleep with there, to do the sleepovers at nighttime, her
feeling like, you know, calling her, I'm just saying little
things like you you're my best friend, You're like my
(01:26:40):
my favorite little heart beat in the world right now,
And just like stuff like that, to where you're connecting
with them a lot and they're like, you know, you're
just you're you're giving them words of information, like when
they're being a good teammate and telling her, hey, we're
on the same team.
Speaker 2 (01:26:51):
It's just me and you here, Like we got to
do a good job with Scotty. We gotta do a
good job of waffle. We gotta do a good job
of picking up stuff, picking up after ourselves. But so, Mike,
crack of cold one is like having those solo times
with the kiddos, because it is it's like, Oh, I'm.
Speaker 1 (01:27:03):
In the trenches right now. I really wish wife, he
was home. I wish there was some help here. But
when you grab that perspective of hey, nobody's here, nobody,
this is you, or those moments where it's like I
would rather wat, but my three year old wants to
play right now, I need to go. I need to
play with her because there's gonna be a data where
she doesn't want to play.
Speaker 2 (01:27:19):
With me anymore.
Speaker 1 (01:27:19):
Yeah, moments like that, And I'll also say another crack
of cold one is operating while your wife is out
of town, like being I take pride in like being
the partner for my wife to where I'm not hitting
her up about stuff I know, like she she probably
doesn't like consciously think about that, but I'm sure I
(01:27:40):
know she has perspective on you know, if she talks
to her friends or when their husband's hitting them, hitting
them up all the time about needing someone or where's
this or where's that? Or how do I do X,
Y and Z, Like you kind of leave them on
an island and they need help, like while the mom
and while the wife is gone. I take a lot
of pride in not being that to Charro, like, hey,
I trust me. I know you're gonna have a lot
(01:28:01):
of guilt. I know you're gonna miss the kiddh. She
doesn't travel near as much as I do. She has
a lot of that mom guilt. But I'm like, dude,
you need to go have your own time. You need
to go sleep in the hotel room and know like,
oh it's ten o'clock and I can go to bed
and I don't have any responsibility, like we'll do the
face times and everything else. But dude, you go take
like whatever time you need. I will handle this at home.
(01:28:22):
I will operate at home. I know everything to do. Yep,
you to wur you don't have to worry about that.
I feel like that's a big crachnical one. And to
the PT sixers out there, And if your wife is
sitting there watching this episode and thinking, hey, Mama needs
to take a trip, needs it, Mama needs the Vegas.
I forget the call in or whatever the wind was
like episodes ago. Yeah, the Robin like where you might
(01:28:43):
need a Rodman trip, like the wife, he needs a
Rodman trip too, or they need to go do things.
Your boy has been able to operate. There's a nine
day Italy trip, yep, Dad had it on lock. A
few day Arizona trip, and Phoenix for another work thing.
They'll with their friends. The Arizona work thing. Daddy had
it on lock. And this one too is another one
(01:29:05):
to where it's like, yes, it is stressful. I do
get tired at times because we have all the shows
that we got to do in the week, and like
you're just again when you're at home, you're solo with
the kiddos. But another krackical one to the to the
Papa team sixers out there, that man the ship whenever
mom or wife he's out of town to where you
don't Mom doesn't have to worry. They might worry on
their own because that's just the nature of the beast.
(01:29:27):
But to where they know, like, oh, Dad, Pete Siko,
he's got it. Back home, he's got he's dial he's
dial right now, back home.
Speaker 3 (01:29:35):
And to your success, you have a chance to as
a mentor to help a boy out. Because there is
a Bachelor Rat party that Jill will be attending first
weekend of October that we we can talk about it.
You know, we going into that episode to make it
a big thing. But there's already some talks and Jill's
(01:29:58):
probably going here this, so I'm glad she she's hearing
this as well. We do we need to get a
night nurse on Saturday for you. Do you think you'll
be able to wake up and you'll be able to,
you know, do all this stuff because Scarlet's make it
and you.
Speaker 1 (01:30:11):
Look her in the eyes and say, don't ever disrespect
me like that again.
Speaker 3 (01:30:14):
I stood I Jill, Jill Anne Young? Did I not?
And I went now now her mom her mom was there,
so I was very sweet about it. So well, maybe,
well we'll talk about it when we get closer to
the Yeah, we could talk about maybe that is a
good idea, but I'm in my head I got this.
Speaker 2 (01:30:33):
You got this, bro, You're built for this.
Speaker 1 (01:30:35):
Let me don't and selfishly, these are opportunities for the
dads to get on the scoreboard when those opportunities come up,
like I don't say the nine day Italy trip, the
three day Arizona trip, the five day Portland, Oregon trip
to like you know, flex my stats and run up
the score a little bit. But all to say is like,
these are opportunities to where if you stay downed and
you do it right and you handle the correct way.
(01:30:56):
There's also some some scoreboards from pet six and start
to back up.
Speaker 3 (01:31:00):
I'm going to six flags.
Speaker 1 (01:31:02):
Yeah, guarantee, guaranteed seasons past season, season past. It's the
fast pass too, baby, Yes, sir, I'm right up the
front of the line.
Speaker 3 (01:31:13):
Come on taking me through the back door. Maybe you
know you do it? Wait, didn't we just see you?
What are you doing back up here? Fast past? Yeah? Sorry, sorry,
but no, I want to want to prove myself. I'm
like a part of me is sitting there and I
appreciate them with the night Urs stuff because we're talking
about Scarlet. I mean, this is precious cargo. But in
the same breath, I'm like man. I want it to
(01:31:34):
be synonymous when you talk about, you know, Sherman being
home alone with Scarlet, that that also in your brain,
he's got it, he's got it.
Speaker 1 (01:31:44):
When you get those opportunities, this is no different than
an opportunity that the Huskers have this weekend, Like this
is a big game opportunity when the PT sixers have
the chance to man the ship for the weekend, for
a few days, whatever it is. And you almost challenge
your wife back to where, Hey, I don't want to
hear from you if you're if you have anxiety and
your stresses high, like I just want you to know
that's gonna be on you because I'm gonna take care
(01:32:06):
of business back home.
Speaker 3 (01:32:07):
And the line for this Nebraska Lot of Football podcast,
But the line for this Nebraska game is plus one
and a half. And what'd your boy do?
Speaker 1 (01:32:15):
You move the line minus thirteen and a half Nebraska
Cornhers Bekers and you put a bomb on it.
Speaker 3 (01:32:20):
Responsibly, responsibly, And that's what I want to do with this.
I note that the lines are right here, and that
if you know, if I just do the bare minimum
and we do yes, Hey, that's what they expect. Yes
and night nurse comes in and night nurse, you know,
leaves great notes and all that, and Sherman did great
during the day. Blah blah blah. Yeah, I'm gonna get
(01:32:42):
Pats on the back. I'm get you won the game.
You did great, Sherman, but if I solo it, and yeah, honey,
I did get you know, a total of nine hours
of sleep over the weekend. But you know what, I
loved every fucking second of it. And I'm ready to
go into the work week. I feel juiced.
Speaker 1 (01:32:58):
Yeah, don't let her like, hey, put me on an island.
I don't need chip or help. I know this past
roaster is nice. Yeah, but slide away from me. I'll
handle them one on one. You don't need to put
a tight end there. You don't need a running back
to chip them coming out of the backfield.
Speaker 3 (01:33:12):
I want when when they're running a crossing route. I
want her to be able to switch and know I
got it.
Speaker 2 (01:33:18):
Yeah, no, I got trust your guy in that zone defense.
Speaker 3 (01:33:20):
She doesn't even have to yell switch because she already
knows Griven's got it. Yeah, we're switching here.
Speaker 1 (01:33:25):
And what an opportunity to because your wife, it's like,
I know when Wednesday comes, she's gonna come in and
this house is gonna be the way.
Speaker 3 (01:33:33):
She left it. Probably better.
Speaker 1 (01:33:35):
Oh, it's gonna be better to where they come in
in the house because women, they hate clutter in the house.
They hate clutter like men can kind of live a
dorm room life at times, like Okay, that's kind of
organized chaos that I got going on around the house.
They come in and the clutter's gone. That's what that's
what the wife you really want, Hey, you handled your
business back home. They walk into a decluttered house, a
(01:33:56):
clean house, yep, to where when they put their luggage in,
it's just on them getting their laundry out and everything else.
But they're not worried about the boxes sitting over there,
and not worried about dish's sitting on the counter. They're
not worried about whatever male stacks are saying. Kind of,
I do still have some mail stax up on the count, bro,
those will be gone.
Speaker 3 (01:34:11):
You you came over to our house one time when
she was out of town, but I'm pretty sure the
house was like neatly put together. But Jill runs a
tight ship. And what an opportunity, What an opportunity every
Saturday and Sunday, we're cleaning the house. On top of
she hires cleaners to come on once a month for
the deep clean, deep clean, because a clean house is
(01:34:32):
like that is it for Jill if she can have.
Speaker 2 (01:34:35):
I think that's it for women out there.
Speaker 3 (01:34:38):
And dude, if she if I rock that weekend and
she comes home and the hardwoods just wreek a fabuloso
and the counters.
Speaker 2 (01:34:46):
Are clean, Daddy's gonna mount you tonight.
Speaker 1 (01:34:51):
That's when they can walk in the house and you're
just at the top stair, no clothes on. I just
picked Jill, and you're just standing in the stair naked,
looking down. It's Daddy's time.
Speaker 3 (01:35:08):
Riding shockwave. Hands up the whole road. Right.
Speaker 2 (01:35:13):
Oh okay, where were we?
Speaker 3 (01:35:15):
Yeah? Where were we? Crack a cold one. I'll go quick.
We have a couple of friends here. He was the
best man at my wedding, Brian Cox. He's also one
of my best friends from high school. And I'm so
lucky that he lives here in Nashville with his wife Hillary.
Brian and Hillary came over not the last Wednesday, and dude,
(01:35:37):
it was just awesome. We had Scarlet fully operating, had
her in bed, fed by like seven point thirty. They
come rolling in at seven thirty. I smoked like four
chickens on the Rectex smoker and we had a dinner
and we were kind of holding Scarlet at the table
and she's doing great, and she falls asleep and then
Jill ghost puts her in the crib. She doesn't make
(01:35:59):
up peep, and it's like we're living life. We're talking
with Brian and Hillary and we got the little monitor
going and we're laughing and Jill like it's just beaming
the whole dinner. The dinner setup was beautiful. We're just
making fun of shirm, off of his dad loss, of
that week, of how what a shit show I was
(01:36:19):
to my wife Jill and Hillary. Brian's wife is just
dying laughing at the story because she knows she's known
me for a while and she's like, I'm shocked. We
were too, We were too. And we're like laughing and
there's great banter. They're telling a couple stories of oh,
well Sherman, you think that's bad, Brian did this? You know.
Me and Brian are sitting over there at the table
(01:36:41):
just taking it, taking it, and they're they're laughing. I
mean it was so much fun, dude. It was just
a great reminder of like, yes, we are in the trenches.
Yes it's hard, but God, you can still live life
and you can still do the things that you want
to do. You can still have those friendships. And it
was sick, dude. I love that. Man, a good ketch up.
(01:37:02):
It was a great catch up.
Speaker 1 (01:37:03):
And it also reminds you of a couple two to
where it's like, we have to be intentional with our
social life.
Speaker 3 (01:37:08):
I have to dude. Getting to talk with Brian is truly,
like I'm sure it's like with you and Nick, like
when you got on the phone with him for his birthday. Yeah,
waltzed off for fifteen minutes with my phone. That's how
it is. Every single time I talked to Brian. We're
speaking our own language almost, We're not even like and
it's dude, that is so cathartic in itself and kind
(01:37:31):
of what I've been talking with with my therapist of
just like, you gotta hit all those poles, man, You
got to you gotta hit every single one of them,
all those pillars, because they're important. And that was just
a great reminder of that.
Speaker 1 (01:37:44):
Yeah, and if something's going on, it's like you checking
in on what these pillars are?
Speaker 2 (01:37:47):
Like, where have I not filled the cup up?
Speaker 3 (01:37:49):
Yeah? Yeah, I love that.
Speaker 2 (01:37:51):
Man. That's a good crack, A cold one.
Speaker 3 (01:37:52):
It was a good one. It was a good one.
I have a great what are the odds this week?
If you want me to jump into that, go ahead, Okay,
what are the odds? Now? This one is a more
serious one, and I don't mean that in a bad way.
I just mean that it carries like a heavier topic.
But this one came in from Instagram. He did say
that we could use his name. His name's Ethan Lawn. So,
(01:38:15):
first off, thank you for dming me Ethan. Secondly, he said, sure,
I need some help. I'm already the loving father to
a beautiful four year old girl and a two year
old boy. Congrats, Ethan. Both of my children have been
born by sea section, the first medically required and the
second nine. My wife and I have been struggling to
(01:38:37):
conceive our third child for the past year, and we
recently discovered that we are pregnant with our third Let's go,
come on. We are still very early in what I
consider the anxious phase. However, for this third kiddo, my
wife wants to undergo a vaginal birth. So and this
is after two SEA sections, So after two C sections,
(01:39:00):
I need some help from you guys and the community.
How do I best support her? What do I need
to know? What do I need to ask our provider?
I'll admit thus far I have not done a great
job supporting her wishes because he's probably a little nervous,
and I get that, but I want to do better.
If you could shoot this out to Papa Team six
(01:39:20):
and MIL Team six community, I would greatly appreciate it.
Cannot wait for the next episode to drop, so to
get bring this into what are the odds? Shout out
FanDuel and I'll start with this and then we can
break down however we want to answer this. There are
sixty to seventy five percent successful vaginal verse And when
(01:39:42):
I mean successful, I don't mean unsuccessful like the bad unsuccessful.
I just mean that they had to go to a
C section. But they're sixty to seventy five percent of
females that have had two C sections that their third
one is a vaginal birth, So the chances are are high.
It's something that can be done. So I just want
(01:40:04):
to start with that and lay that out and then
we can answer this question. However, so will what what
would we say to to our friend Ethan as far
as just like that support side of things, because we
are no medical experts at all on this matter.
Speaker 2 (01:40:19):
Where did you find the data and the research? You
just kind of google and.
Speaker 3 (01:40:24):
Through chat GBT and they cited.
Speaker 2 (01:40:27):
Right the links that you can click onus.
Speaker 3 (01:40:30):
Number one.
Speaker 1 (01:40:30):
I think that's a good pool. It's like if that
was going on with me and I was nervous and
I was worried, I would very much be diving into
those WebMD rabbit holes on what this could look like.
I would say number one, again, express your concern to
your wife. Not concerned in a way to where you're
resistive to it, but just say, hey, I'm down to
support you. I'm down to do whatever you want to do.
Speaker 2 (01:40:52):
Sweetheart.
Speaker 1 (01:40:53):
If a vaginal birth is what is something that you
want to do, Listen, I'm on board. Here's where I
get nervous. But again, maybe it's my ignorance. I don't
know a whole lot of data on it. I'm just
nervous that since we had to do a medical one first,
we did it the second we did a C section.
The second time, I'm just nervous about what that looks like.
And maybe I just need to do a better job
of diving in the information. Maybe wife already has right
(01:41:15):
to where she feels comfortable enough to do it, And
I think what the stuff that you pulled to is
is good data as well. To me, it's always going
to come down fellas every couple and everybody knows this,
but it's always going to come down to communication.
Speaker 3 (01:41:30):
Yeah, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:41:31):
How to support, Like, if you're on board, you're going
to know how to support what you get on board.
The thing that you don't want to do is you're
just figuring out a way to support get on board
by suppressing whatever your worries and concerns are in anxiety.
So the first big thing for me would be like, hey,
you feel comfortable to express in a very in a
(01:41:54):
very like constructive way, like how you're feeling about the
whole thing because you're you know, the men if you listen,
if you have a good marriage going on, Dad's men,
you guys are part of the equation too.
Speaker 3 (01:42:04):
It's coming from a place of love. Is coming from.
Speaker 1 (01:42:08):
Love, Yeah, absolutely, So that would be more so if
I had, like, you know, non expert advice. Is I
love that you're on board, get fully on board, you
know how to support it. Sounds like you know how
to support how to get on board, but don't do
it at the expense of suppressing whatever your worries and
anxieties are, because I would say, Hey, whatever you're feeling like, bro,
share it with your wife.
Speaker 2 (01:42:28):
Yeah, I'm sure she'd love to have.
Speaker 1 (01:42:29):
A conversation with She might be nervous too. Maybe she
in her mind's thinking I've done a couple of C
sections in a row.
Speaker 2 (01:42:35):
Who knows whatever outside noise or outside.
Speaker 1 (01:42:37):
Influences that she could be subconsciously putting on herself to
feel like she has to do a vaginal birth. Yeah,
maybe it's something she fully wants to do and is
on board about it and doesn't have to think twice.
But maybe she's also nervous and just feels like this
is the route she has to do. You have no
clue unless you communicate with your wife.
Speaker 3 (01:42:56):
It's a great point, and to speak on it because
we are not professionals. We're not telling the wife or
Ethan either way to go on this right with like
they are doing whatever they're gonna do. What we can
say to Ethan because he did say in the DM recently,
I've done a poor job of supporting her in this.
(01:43:18):
If you have done a poor job, Ethan, and maybe
there were some hurt feelings on wife's end of things
of he's not supportive, I would also with the communication
try to show her that, hey, maybe I didn't communicate
it well, but just to know that those words were
coming from a place of love and worry for my
wife's health and safety, my baby's health and safety. I
(01:43:40):
love you to death, and I'm team wife, I'm team baby,
and let's let's get this thing whatever.
Speaker 1 (01:43:46):
Yeah, to do absolutely no, that's a great that's a
great opinion on it. That's great perspective on it too,
because if it's like I've done a poor job, all
we can do is assume yes, on what this conversation is. Yes,
if you assume that there's been a poor job, how
do I sup poor? Then my assumption would be the
conversation probably came up and you guys got into a
(01:44:06):
conversation or debate or whatever it was, to where it
feels like you're sitting on opposite sides of the table,
whereas yeah, kerfuffle to where you want her to know
this is coming from a place of love to do that.
It's like, how do you go from sitting on opposite
sides of the table to sitting next to her on
the table and hurt with you as well? Yeah, cause
again I I don't know. All I can do is
(01:44:26):
assume like she could have fears as well. I don't
know that she's not communicating.
Speaker 3 (01:44:31):
And dude, after you're done having that conversation, slipper, slipper
some cold hard cash. Enough with the venmos slipper, some
cold hard cash, and say, hey, the two little guys,
I got him for the next how many ever hours?
Have fun? Yeah, go get your go, get your nails done,
go get your hair done, do whatever. And just in
(01:44:52):
that conversation with that and just be like, I love you,
I support you, and if I hurt you, wasn't my attention.
And also treat yourself.
Speaker 2 (01:45:03):
Yeah, not if I hurt you.
Speaker 3 (01:45:06):
Not if I hurt you, that's a good call.
Speaker 1 (01:45:09):
Yeah, I can see I hurt you and that was
not my intention at all. The best thing you can
do leading into a conversation like that is completely anchor
where you were wrong and like exactly like you can
even go into an exaggeration mode of I've truly I've
done a very poor job of communicating this topic and conversation.
Thank you for saying like I've done brutal. My egos
got in the way when you brought this up. My
(01:45:30):
worried side came out and I more so lashed out
at you on why it shouldn't be happening, but we
need to be sitting next to each other. And I
honestly I did a very bad job because I can
see that how I came off it could have hurt
your feelings. Again, I don't know what their conversation was,
I can see that it hurt your feelings. And then
I did an even poor job because I'm getting my
heels in the sand even more in the ground, even
(01:45:51):
more on defending like what I want to see when
I need to this needs to be we're on the
same team.
Speaker 3 (01:45:56):
We're on the same team. And that is a good
reminder too, because we talked about like what a full
hearted apology looks like, and it's so true.
Speaker 2 (01:46:05):
Don't ruin an apology with an excuse.
Speaker 3 (01:46:07):
Don't and the I'm sorry I made you feel. I
know we're rehashing something, but oh man, it sucks to
hear that. I'm sorry if I made you.
Speaker 1 (01:46:18):
Yeah, yikes, Yeah, you just completely own it. Go into
full accountability mode.
Speaker 3 (01:46:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:46:23):
Uh, should we get to should we get to the
call ins? We do have a survival Kitten Dad Dad hack.
But I'm gonna say the Survival Kitten Dad hag needs
to go to uh Kwiko.
Speaker 3 (01:46:32):
Yeah, it does need to go to Kiwik. Yeah, we
got it.
Speaker 1 (01:46:37):
We got it, like ann un like Uh, we're revealing
gifts that we got from Kimiko, who's a sponsor of
the show. And these gifts are awesome to where Hey,
if you're looking for survival kit methods or dad hacks
out there, like this stuff is really good quality stuff.
I think Kwiko crushes it. We got the little stuff
he's I wish to shirm the poppy. Yeah, the well,
(01:46:58):
we got poppy. You got Poppy, team saying team six.
Then you got what we call yesterday? What was I
saying yesterday? You got the shirm of the Chiwi.
Speaker 3 (01:47:05):
The shei Wei. It's a little she wee bird.
Speaker 1 (01:47:07):
But I think the dad hacks and the survival Kit
needs to go into Kiwiko for sponsoring the episode and
us showing you the gifts that we got from them.
Speaker 3 (01:47:16):
Hey fucking sickos, Hey pet sichoes. We interrupt this episode
because we have a really fun sponsor today. This is

Another one I picked up is one that I actually
do have, and it is called the Play and Go
lock box.
Speaker 2 (01:48:55):
To where you might not see it on the photo,
but around.
Speaker 1 (01:48:58):
The entire around the entire block is like different ways
to open and close doors. You see a little lock
on the side, a different lock over here, a little
knob to pool.
Speaker 3 (01:49:06):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:49:06):
This is thirteen plus months and the focus is on
motor skills. Sir, do you have you have any any Well?
Speaker 3 (01:49:12):
First off, they sent these hereges and you could see
Will's stuffed.
Speaker 2 (01:49:15):
Kiwe So this is you, that's me? What do you
think this one is?
Speaker 3 (01:49:19):
That's fat? It's either fat Stafford or a key wee bird.
Speaker 2 (01:49:22):
This is key we Bird. This is she wee bird.
It's Sherman Kiwi.
Speaker 3 (01:49:26):
It's a wee bird. And then we have a nice
little panda bear here. His name's Poppy. Does that one
have a name. Oh I don't know if that one
has a name.
Speaker 2 (01:49:34):
But let me open them up.
Speaker 3 (01:49:37):
Let's feel how soft these things are. No name, This
one comes nameless. But what was that one? You said?
Speaker 2 (01:49:44):
Poppy?
Speaker 3 (01:49:44):
This is Poppy.
Speaker 2 (01:49:45):
That's Poppy. That's Poppy Team six right there. That's see
Wee code. You guys just struck dynamite.
Speaker 3 (01:49:51):
That's actually huge. This is Poppy and Poppy Poppy Team.
Scarlett's gonna love this. What she's also going to love
is this play Matt that came with our ship at
This is zero to two months. So Keywekode does a
break job, great job of breaking down the age groups
will already red off two over there. They also do
(01:50:13):
zero to two months, and they go up to a
wide range of ages for kids of all learning experiences backgrounds.
These projects look that one looks sick.
Speaker 2 (01:50:24):
Yeah, buddy, I'll love like this is Christmas.
Speaker 1 (01:50:27):
We got the pandacrate right here, and what it talks
about is let's count uh ages. Thirteen to eighteen months,
count and play with your toddler and help them develop
early mass skills.
Speaker 3 (01:50:37):
This one right here look like the wind play lab.
Speaker 2 (01:50:40):
Fun ahead, this is electric fan. That's and that's what
I include. Censory play that will blow you away.
Speaker 1 (01:50:46):
Experiment with the wind tunnel and discover how air makes
things spin.
Speaker 3 (01:50:50):
Float and fly. Buddy, Hi, I just want to see
you and me building one of these together. That needs
to be a social pester Kiwiko.
Speaker 1 (01:51:00):
Yeah, we got another episode before the Dad's coming out tomorrow,
and we're just playing with this wind play lab.
Speaker 3 (01:51:05):
Oh yeah, y'all go ahead, y'all, go ahead. We can't
figure out this wind tunnel. This one's from zero to
two months. This one's called Let's bond You got your
little tummy time. Scarlett is just past two months, so
this is gonna be perfect for her. Looks like a
lot of different things that she can kind of like
explore and learn with her hands. I know Jill's super
(01:51:27):
big on that. We're starting to take the mittens off
of Scarlet, letting her touch and feel and let's see
bond with your baby and help develop their growing brain.
Speaker 1 (01:51:38):
Dude, this this ad, we've done this this is a
survival kit. Yeah, this is our survival kit right here.
If you've watched this part of the end you didn't
skip forward, give a little shout out to Kipiko, especially
if you have their products.
Speaker 3 (01:51:48):
If not, check them out.
Speaker 1 (01:51:49):
Sincere sincerely, Like these products are really good helps us
all age groups. Development with your kid, good connecting time
with your kid. And it's fun to like watch your
little demon get rolling like Scotty right now, he's putting
the ball. She'll put the ball in the whole lit
a roll back, put the ball in a whole of
roll back. Put the little egg.
Speaker 2 (01:52:05):
In the little little a little bit with this one.
She's a little keyster thing.
Speaker 1 (01:52:08):
I'm just talking about like stuff at home, like you
watch you watch a little demon operate.
Speaker 2 (01:52:11):
It is fun to watch.
Speaker 3 (01:52:13):
And also just speaking of discounts, uh, fifty percent off
is really big. That might be our biggest discount as
far as sponsors go. So it's up to fifty percent
off your first crate if you go to Keiwiko dot
com that's k I w I coo dot com and
you use the promo code for the dads.
Speaker 2 (01:52:35):
Dude, this tell you right now Keeyko, this needs to
be a partner of the show, the partner of the brand.
Speaker 3 (01:52:40):
Honestly, this stuff is sick. And thank you to Kiwikoe
just an extra shout out. They send some extra stuff
for one of our employees. Jeremy also has kids. They
send some extra stuff for him too, because they heard
that he has kids. Oh, I thought that was cool.
I thought that was super sick.
Speaker 2 (01:52:55):
Scotty's ten months right now. She turned ten months. Over
the weekend, we're gonna actually week I'm gonna get her
operating on this twelve plus months. We're gonna start problem solving.
Speaker 3 (01:53:03):
That's gonna be. It's gonna be problems. This was all
for real. And this one looks really sick. The one
that they sent Jeremy for his older kids. This is
three to six year olds. It's like a full on
science project in there. See that's cool. We're talking like
test tube speaker. I mean it looks sick. Yeah, this
is a Kiwiko bombs.
Speaker 1 (01:53:23):
Let's get back to the episode. Go shop kiwik Let's
get into the hotline.
Speaker 3 (01:53:29):
Let's get into the hot How many we got this week?
Speaker 1 (01:53:31):
We have two to this week we won this week
one This week time, we're pushing an hour time, we're
pushing it out, we're pushing an hour.
Speaker 2 (01:53:41):
Gotta keep it under Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:53:43):
I went to one and I think one. I think chocolate.
Speaker 2 (01:53:47):
Obviously we want to get into doing more.
Speaker 1 (01:53:49):
But I think we had a lot of comments at
the top of the episode two that we touched on.
Speaker 3 (01:53:52):
We did, Yeah, yeah, let's hit this caller, let's hit
this six on one.
Speaker 1 (01:53:56):
The dads, you want to be featured on the show, obviously,
you can write to us, you can comment to us.
You can call in and leave a voicemail if you're
feeling frustrated, if you got a dad win a crack
of coal, when a dad lost something you need to
get off your chest. Six and when the dad's leave
a voicemail. Chance to be featured on the show. This
one comes in.
Speaker 3 (01:54:12):
From This one comes from mister white Chocolate.
Speaker 6 (01:54:15):
Okay, mister white Chocolate, Will Sarm. This is Tier one,
mister white Chocolate speaking. Today is my daughter's birthday. She
is now a teenager. It's gonna be some rough and
tough years coming for you boys, coming up soon, so
please pray for me. My question for you, guys is
(01:54:36):
what are you two looking forward to most when your
daughters become teenagers. Love you guys, can't wait to see this.
Speaker 1 (01:54:47):
White mister white Chocolate. Thank you for calling in. Man,
what a question, Ruse three. Right now, I feel like
I don't have to think about it for another ten years,
cause those are like it's like, those are scary. I
think of all the moments that I'm having with my
little girls right now, and it's.
Speaker 3 (01:55:03):
Like, what if.
Speaker 1 (01:55:05):
What if this is just the relationship for the rest
of time and there won't be those tough teenager moments
of where they don't want that anymore? But I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:55:15):
Maybe I am number one.
Speaker 1 (01:55:17):
Maybe I will be number one her entire life, over
her friends, over the you know, her love interests that
are out there.
Speaker 3 (01:55:24):
I have my answer, what is if you? Like Jill
and I were joking about this that I was saying,
I'm actually looking forward to you those days where I
picked Scarlett up from school and there's some friend group
drama and there's no advice that dad can give her
other than just listen. Emily said, what, Oh my gosh,
(01:55:44):
And how did Rebecca respond to that? Oh? Okay, yeah, yeah,
well that makes sense because Rebecca doesn't like that. Yeah,
you can't have that no, can't have that. Oh good,
you hugged her and you told her that you loved
her and you want to be your best friend, Scarlett.
I think you can nailed that.
Speaker 1 (01:56:01):
Just like matter of fact, you should invite them over
for Pizza Friday. They can do a sleepover.
Speaker 2 (01:56:05):
You guys can stay in the room, will lock the doors.
You don't have to go anywhere at nighttime Pizza Friday.
Speaker 3 (01:56:11):
I'm thirteen. I break my heart, dude, I know we don't. No,
she will, and I'm sorry, I'm sorry I even joked
about it. Way they could come. I am looking forward
to those little like teenage girls scuffles and just trying
to trying to navigate it. And I won't know what
(01:56:31):
to do other than just listen, just listen to her
and make her feel heard and like, those are very
important stories that I need to and just learning all
the nuances of her friends so that I can be
a good wall for her to just bounce her thoughts
and emotions and stuff off of. And Jill and I
were just kind of joking about that, of like, and
(01:56:52):
Jill has no drama queen at all. She you know,
she'll tell you that, like any friend group just like,
guys have an equal amount of drama, but we're both
pretty drama free. So whenever it does come down the
pipe where I was like, oh, it's kind of some
juicya what's going on, I can get on board with that.
Speaker 1 (01:57:11):
I feel like, as you're saying that, I feel like
I'm looking forward to the debriefs in the breakdowns with
my wife, like when you know the kiddos are, you know,
when the girls are in bed and you're kind of
talking about what you might have heard and what advice
you were given, how should we do this. I'm hearing
there's some stuff going on at school, like the debriefs
in the preparation with your wife of how you might
(01:57:31):
handle these situations. Cause it's gonna be like I feel like,
in the parents out there with teenagers or adults that
live through the teenage years, I'm sure that they'll have
some good comments about this, but I feel like it's
going to be like it's an art form in motion
when trying to prepare for whatever these conversations are, because
I'm I'm weirdly, you know, when my daughter starts to
(01:57:53):
have crushes and relationships, I'm like, you know, what what
could be knocking on my door on some of these
evenings coming up.
Speaker 2 (01:58:01):
Oh, what young boys are gonna be asking?
Speaker 1 (01:58:04):
Oh you'll be asking permission to take my daughter on
a date, Yes, sir, and keeping that standard tour, it
doesn't create the friction with your girl, with your daughter.
Speaker 3 (01:58:13):
Yeah, it's like a song and dance.
Speaker 1 (01:58:15):
I'm like, uh, weirdly like looking forward to like which
one of these? Well, and our dad which one of
these slappies?
Speaker 3 (01:58:23):
Oh yeah, our dad brains. It's gonna be like you're
gonna go up to Charlie, you know, how's blah blah blah.
She seemed upset. Well, Lindsay borrowed another one of Ruth's
tops and she hasn't given it back yet. Oh, well,
is she gonna call Lindsay and get it back?
Speaker 2 (01:58:38):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:58:38):
Will, She can't do that because Ruth got cheer Captain
Lindsay Dinnitt. She's upset about that. Oh okay, yeah, you're right. Yeah,
that's a good I'll call Steve right now. Don't get
that popped up back. No you can't.
Speaker 2 (01:58:52):
You can't go over her, you can't go around her.
Speaker 3 (01:58:55):
Yeah, you can't do that because then Lindsay's gonna do
this because Lindsay has a crush on Brian. You know,
Brian has a crush on Rue, And it's just the
whole thing.
Speaker 2 (01:59:02):
Does Ru have a crush on Brian?
Speaker 3 (01:59:04):
Well, you know whenever I bring up Brian, she gets
a little bashroom and gets a little red in the cheeks.
Speaker 2 (01:59:09):
But I don't know, that's it, sticky, That's what I
don't feel prepared for stuff like that.
Speaker 3 (01:59:16):
That's what I'm saying. I'm gonna have zero click. That's
just where Dad shuts up and just sits back and
watches gold.
Speaker 1 (01:59:23):
Number one needs to be how do we how do
we get this friendship aligned? Because that's potential problems just
waiting and stewing, and.
Speaker 3 (01:59:29):
My brain goes exactly where you are of like have
her over for pizza Friday. But they used to love
that when they were kids.
Speaker 5 (01:59:38):
Will you need to start working on your dad?
Speaker 3 (01:59:41):
You know?
Speaker 2 (01:59:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:59:42):
When you don't and you know, it's like this is
gone out of your wheelhouse, you go.
Speaker 2 (01:59:47):
Huh, it's gonna be a good looks.
Speaker 3 (01:59:53):
And you let me know because I want to help, honey,
you just let me know what I need to do.
I'm on standbio.
Speaker 1 (01:59:58):
So you're telling me Rue who is upset because she
didn't get invited to the movies.
Speaker 3 (02:00:03):
Well, yeah, so it's Lindsay, it's Rachel, it's Chelsea, it's
that all that group of girls that she went to
summer camp with and they've just been hanging out a
whole lot and they, I don't know, real didn't get
the invite.
Speaker 2 (02:00:15):
We could do pizza Friday at the house.
Speaker 3 (02:00:18):
Well it doesn't work like that.
Speaker 2 (02:00:21):
You're telling me she's upset that Charlie won't go with
her to the dance and she's torb about that. Is
she seeing the status that Charlie's putting up on Friday nights?
He's the backup, running.
Speaker 3 (02:00:32):
Back pulled this Charlie kid up. Does he have one
of those Facebook? No, they don't have Facebook. He has
TikTok bro he has eighty thousand followers. Well he's kind
of viral.
Speaker 2 (02:00:41):
He might have an eight thousand followers.
Speaker 3 (02:00:43):
But he can't. He can't.
Speaker 1 (02:00:44):
He can't have a four yard run to save his life.
She'll just have her.
Speaker 2 (02:00:50):
We're just watching film a so you're in love with
this Charlie guy.
Speaker 3 (02:00:54):
You're breaking down film with the love interest. Let's see
how Let's see how you think Charlie's a tough guy.
Speaker 1 (02:00:59):
Let's see how he responds in the A gap here.
This is the guy you want to you want to
attach your attached the wagon to.
Speaker 3 (02:01:07):
You see the third and long blitz there, Honey, you
see how he looks like he's in a blender. He's
bouncing around.
Speaker 1 (02:01:13):
Let me talk to you about Tony over here, the quarterback.
I mean, he's get some looks from from D one schools.
He's only a sophomore.
Speaker 3 (02:01:19):
Oh, dad, Tony's not hot. He may not be hot,
by honey. It's about the heart. Yeah, it's about the heart.
But dude, I'm stoked for that type of stuff once
they're like developing that socio you know, like uh whatever,
like just those friend groups and navigating it and.
Speaker 1 (02:01:40):
The One Tree Hill drama. Yes, dude, the One Tree Hills, Smallville.
Speaker 3 (02:01:45):
I rock them all.
Speaker 2 (02:01:46):
Dude.
Speaker 3 (02:01:47):
The drama in those TV shows. And I'm not saying
every girl is girl live teenage girl thing is drama filled.
I hope it doesn't sound that way, but I just
know that like in their world it is though, yeah,
and it is important and it's like a big deal
to them. And I remember when my dad would get
a friend's name wrong, dude. Oh, that used to bug me,
(02:02:10):
Like I have this best friend named James, and I
couldn't tell if he was like doing it to me
on purpose to like mess with Meania, when's Josh coming over? Dad, James,
James is coming over.
Speaker 6 (02:02:23):
I know that.
Speaker 3 (02:02:24):
I know that there's a guy at our high school
named Cole Lofton and he always called them Cole Laughlin.
Drove me nuts, drove me nuts, And so I'm like
in my brain, you got name right. I gotta get
all of her girlfriend's names right, I got you.
Speaker 2 (02:02:40):
Know, I'm ready to do like the.
Speaker 1 (02:02:44):
Like the dumb dad step over the line stuff like, Hey,
what's going on?
Speaker 2 (02:02:49):
Is it something? Are you doing? The is this? You
get the period now?
Speaker 3 (02:03:03):
Mom told me something's going on this. Mom told me
something's going on this week. I just want you to
it's just making no eye contact. Yeah, just once. You know,
if you need ice cream, if you need extra movie time,
you can do that. Actually, I gotta go downstairs in
(02:03:24):
their privacy. Doctor.
Speaker 1 (02:03:25):
Mama, you kind of have one of the milestone deals
in your life. You know, I'm not too familiar with
that stuff. I'm sure Mom tells you a lot of
good things. You know, whatever you need from me, just
let me know.
Speaker 3 (02:03:35):
I'm here for you, you beautiful young lady, just like
your mom. I don't know if that's what you want
to I don't know, honey. I love you, I love you.
I'll see you tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (02:03:46):
Yeah. I can tell I'm saying a little too much
right now. I feel stupid, like just forget everything.
Speaker 2 (02:03:49):
We just said right there.
Speaker 3 (02:03:50):
Okay, what are we gonna do? I don't know. Man,
Oh the great question by mister white Chocolate.
Speaker 2 (02:03:59):
You already know that's gonna be a reaction when we're frustrated.
Speaker 3 (02:04:01):
Is this that time of the month for you right now?
Silent treatment for a week? Y oh yeah, Ruth's gonna
be like you're done, You're done. Yeah, man, scary hours, dude.
Speaker 1 (02:04:20):
Yeah, it's all like coming through my head right now,
like shit, and we.
Speaker 3 (02:04:25):
Got that coming down the pipe. But the good news is,
and you you've kind of been talking about this like
all podcasts. I feel like a good lesson for us
dads is we are learning too as they are learning,
and as Rue is learning to communicate, as with Scotti
or Ruth's learning how to deal with like mom being
(02:04:45):
out of town, like Will is also learning how to
deal with Ru while mom's out of town and also
dealing how to tell Ru how to communicate with the
dog in Scotty. And same with me. I'm learning how
to show Jill that I am capable of her being
out of town. Yeah, and so yes, that stuff scares
the shit out of me. But I'm also like this
(02:05:07):
old dog can learn new tricks. I'm learning and maybe, hey,
it does, you know, take me to go crazy and
you know, make a mistake here or whatever and like
to learn a lesson. But we're gonna be fine because
you care. Because you care, and you want to be intentional.
Speaker 1 (02:05:26):
You don't want to be the guy who kind of
steps off, you know, fades into the fades into.
Speaker 2 (02:05:31):
The shadows, falls back. You want to be on the
front lines with your wife.
Speaker 1 (02:05:34):
Yeah, learning and immersing yourself into stuff, because I can
only hope we're sitting here ten years later, and I'm like, boys,
pop a Team six My daughter just turned thirteen, and
here's the situation, and I gotta be careful because my
(02:05:55):
roo could listen to this stuff. Oh yeah, but I
gotta tell you I got a relationship with the PT
sixers out there community, and I'm gonna.
Speaker 2 (02:06:01):
Need some help.
Speaker 3 (02:06:02):
Yeah, honey, you don't. You don't want me talking about
you making the cheer team. I won't talk about making
the cheer team. I'm brody. I just love you and
your mama was a cheerleader. You're a cheerleader. I love it.
You start crying. Yeah, you're always crying, Dad quick crying
on the podcast. My friends keep pulling it up. Yeah, gole, Yeah,
(02:06:26):
I know it's gonna be interesting.
Speaker 2 (02:06:28):
All these moments on the Internet that they will have
access to.
Speaker 3 (02:06:33):
He's just gonna make you a legend. If anything.
Speaker 1 (02:06:37):
Should imagine the first time my daughter comes across me
with my pants off doing a case race.
Speaker 3 (02:06:45):
As Darth mauls with Darth Maul face paint, and honey,
there's this great talking about I just want to shake
the uber guy's hand. I just want to shake his hand. Honey.
There's this burner account on Twitter. It's called Will Compton's
Bowl gen It's actually in reference to that moment. Yeah,
he's a great fault.
Speaker 2 (02:07:04):
You know it's not your father, but you were going
to see some stuff on the internet.
Speaker 3 (02:07:10):
By then, AI will be so crazy you can kind
of might spins on it. Are they making those with something?
Are they making those about your dad again? I can't believe.
Yeah was a real honey, Yeah, hey die like yeah, hey,
that touchdown the ice scord as a wide receiver in
(02:07:30):
the NFL. That's real.
Speaker 2 (02:07:31):
That's yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:07:34):
Great call in. Did you have a lesson or a quote?
I do?
Speaker 1 (02:07:39):
If not, go ahead, okay, cool, Like I could muster
one up, I can, I could find one. But dude,
take the floor. Bro, this is We've been going for.
Speaker 3 (02:07:47):
A good amount.
Speaker 2 (02:07:48):
Yeah, a good amount.
Speaker 3 (02:07:49):
Okay, So going into this quote, I've always had a
good relationship with Will's stepdad Cody, but him coming in
town for Jill's birthday, it has been incredible. The girls
went out and left the house last night, her mom
and Jill to go to Home Goods, Shout out Home Goods,
(02:08:11):
and baby scarscar was by herself with the boys, Me
and Cody. We got to watch Baker Mayfield perform a
miraculous comeback on Monday night football, and Cody and I
are jumping up, we're standing up, we're clapping, We're like
we browed out. It was really kind of the first
time of us browing out so much fun to brag
(02:08:33):
on him. Super interesting guy, very interesting guy, doesn't have
like the college education that most have of like, you're
no business savvy entrepreneurs, but he's a self made man,
blue collar man, owns a ton of companies, have sold
a ton of companies. And I feel like every single
time I'm around him, I'm learning something new, but he's
(02:08:55):
never trying to teach me anything. Jill has his surprise
birthday part or not surprise birthday, has a thirtieth birthday
party coming up, and it's kind of last second. We're
throwing stuff together. We're trying to figure out how to
do it in the front yard, and Cody's like, oh, sureman,
I'll go to home depot and get a couple two
by tens and some two by fours. I'll set up
two pillars. We'll get the twinkle lights going from that
(02:09:18):
oak tree y'all got in the front yard, throw some
duct tape on it, kind of get it right there.
It's just all those little, like nuanced moments. I'm like, dude,
you're such a legend. So just getting to know him
better and getting to learn stuff from him has been fun.
This was my favorite quote that came from dinner. We
were talking about things that we wanted to instill in Scarlet.
(02:09:39):
And I'm sitting there going, oh, I want her to
have a part time job in high school. My parents
were big on that. I want her to have that,
and I want, you know, really want to try to
do this, try to do that. And he came in
with this and said, it took me a while to
learn this as a parent, but it ain't about fixing
the shit that was wrong with you and your childhood.
That's a different human or sorry, it ain't about fixing
(02:10:02):
the shit that was wrong with you and your kid.
That's a different human, that's a different story. Be better
than what came before you, like your parenting and right
whatever parenting wrongs were done to you, but don't try
and force your kid to be someone that they're not.
And I just thought that that was a banger little
(02:10:24):
lesson from Cody of like, tell me the first ten
years he was just everything that he saw wrong in
himself and didn't want his son to you know, do
he just riding them, riding them, riding them. And he
was like, yes, he's my son, he's my namesake, but
he's not me, and he's not gonna automatically want to
(02:10:45):
lean towards these mistakes and blah blah blah. I just
thought that that was a cool message. Yeah, I love that.
Speaker 1 (02:10:52):
I feel like I come across quotes like that on
Instagram where it's like the fears and the insecurities that
you have will show up in your kids' life if
you're not, you know, looking at yourself and fixing yourself.
Speaker 3 (02:11:03):
But you're right.
Speaker 2 (02:11:03):
I love that quote. Yeah, I love that quote.
Speaker 1 (02:11:06):
I feel like it's going to be that's such a
song and dance for parents, because again, it's like all
you know is your experiences and what you have done
in the past and things that you might have hated
that you might be lashing You might not know it,
but you might be lashing out and doing certain things
and setting certain examples to where Yeah, I feel like
if you don't check yourself and ask like, what's the
principle behind this? Like, what's the actual goal is it?
(02:11:29):
No matter what I'm going to they're going to have
a responsibility, like a part time job in high school.
I feel like on paper that sounds amazing. It's like,
but I have no clue what life is going to
look like when she is a teenager when she is
at that age. Yes, because you feel like it's a
good responsibility and it's a great principle to teach at
a young age, but making sure you're doing it through
the right lessons and teaching the right things and guiding
(02:11:52):
them that way to put that responsibility on them instead
of like, you know, you're just saying, this is how
it's going to be, and as long as you're under
my roof, you go by my rules, you have a
job because you're it's like you're just saying that because
there's not a lot of context or teaching or lessons
that you're trying to give them through what you learned
by addressing whatever your insecurities or fears.
Speaker 3 (02:12:12):
Are and whatever learning lesson you're trying to instill in
them with the part that just for example, that's example,
will hang on, Yeah it is. Maybe Scarlett is a
thespian and takes theater super serious. An actress in stage theater,
it's like musicals and stuff, and she's taking that super serious,
and she's traveling and doing these shows and like the
(02:12:35):
hard work and dedication that she's doing to like memorizing
her lines, showing up early to rehearsals, being the last
one to leave from rehearsals. Like, that's the same thing
as what the part time job would instill, right, yeah, Like, hey,
you are being held accountable. People are relying on you
to perform at a high level, and you're doing everything
(02:12:58):
to prepare for it. And I'm so proud of you.
You're doing such a great job with like and yes,
it's not a part time job. She's in you know,
the musical whatever. Yeah, but it's the same thing.
Speaker 1 (02:13:10):
I feel like that's really good man, yestly, I think
that's really good because to me, like what it comes
down to is uh commitment, Like what are you going
to be committed to beyond going to school from eight
in the morning to three in the afternoon. Yeah, and
whatever that is, I don't that's again as you observe
and see your kid and see your teenage or whatever
(02:13:31):
that is. I know, like in my mind, it's just like, uh,
you're gonna have a commitment to to excellence somewhere whatever
that might be.
Speaker 2 (02:13:42):
Maybe it's in the arts, maybe it's in.
Speaker 3 (02:13:43):
Athletics, it's video games, yeah, yeah, streaming. Imagine with this
day and age, I'm like it could it could truly
be anything.
Speaker 2 (02:13:54):
Yeah if you look at.
Speaker 1 (02:13:55):
Yeah, you look at when you listen to Nick Merch's story,
I'm busting with the boys. Yeah, because that it's like
a wrestling family. So I see like whit dad was
the way he was. My dad was kind of the
same way with me, And I can imagine the friction
that'd come up if like, hey, I want to be
a video gamer and everything else. But to me, it's like, yeah,
what is your what's the commitment looking like.
Speaker 2 (02:14:15):
For your kid?
Speaker 1 (02:14:16):
Because again, you want them committed to something because at
one point or another, man it's like mom and Dad's
not going to be there forever. Yep, Mom and Dad's
not going to be there. If you go to college, Mom, dad's.
Speaker 3 (02:14:26):
Not going to be there.
Speaker 1 (02:14:27):
When you're in the real world and making your own decisions,
and it's like, what fundamentals and what principles and lessons
are you leaning on that we taught you at a
young age, whether it's a part time job, whether it's
you taking theater very seriously like you, I want my
kid to understand what commitment looks like so that way
you're not surprised and caught off guard when life doesn't
go your way one day, because it's not going to
(02:14:47):
life's not going to go your way.
Speaker 3 (02:14:49):
And what powerful lessons on the theater example of not
memorizing your lines. You're on stage in front of hundreds
of people and you don't know your lines. You froze
in front of everybody. You'll never want to feel that again.
And like being able to then in those moments in
their world who they are be able to find those
(02:15:11):
learning lessons of Hey, we'll get it right. We're gonna
go through your lines again. Let's practice your lines here
at home. We're gonna get this thing straightened out.
Speaker 2 (02:15:19):
In the personal story, hey you don't think your old
man was embarrassed, Like, let me show you Thanksgiving game.
Speaker 1 (02:15:23):
Dallas Cowboys twenty and sixteen two misstackles on Ezekiel Elliott.
Speaker 3 (02:15:28):
They go down to.
Speaker 1 (02:15:28):
School right in my face, like sweet, I, yeah, we
know what embarrassment looks like. And it's like pulling those
stories to level with them and just you know, let
them know, Hey, this isn't gonna be the first time
you're embarrassed. It's not gonna be the last time you're embarrassed.
What matters is how you respond to how you're feeling
right now.
Speaker 3 (02:15:43):
Yes, that's so great. And I showed them the uh
for listeners from last week. I showed them the bar
soap clip and he goes, yeah, man, hell yeah, man.
Only way to teach them that fire hurts is let
them put their hand in there. Yeah, I've told you
not put your damn hand in there.
Speaker 1 (02:16:02):
And so we ran the We ran the campfire clip. Yeah,
oh I love that. Yeah, it's a good clip.
Speaker 3 (02:16:07):
Yeah, we played the clip. I'm pretty sure love it
or we if it hasn't gone out yet, it will,
you know how the brain's fleeting.
Speaker 1 (02:16:14):
Yeah, yeah, great episode. Hope you guys all enjoyed it.
Pop a team six. Keep doing your thing, man, keep
leading from the front, keep asking question, just keep engaging
with us. This community is incredible. We truly love it

Speaker 2 (02:16:32):

Speaker 1 (02:16:34):
Before we go, I'm sorry, we're not We're not gone yet, Durem.
I'm so sorry, so sorry.
Speaker 3 (02:16:39):
