(00:00):
Rex in the morning on See oneon one. I have the pleasure of
talking to Tina Lane. I've knownyou for about one hundred and fifty two
years now. Yeah, totally throwboth of us under the bus and say
it's been nearly thirty years. Rex, Oh, what an amazing friendship.
When you think about business in CorpusChristi and prominent business women, people that
(00:27):
are real powerful, a real force. I think your name comes up a
lot if there's a conversation like that. It's a very generous statement. Thank
you. I do feel like CorpusChristy is really beginning to nurture small businesses
across the board, male and female. But over I think the past maybe
(00:50):
five or so years, we haveseen a little bit of an influx of
more women owned businesses and resources availableto women. Now with your okay,
now, what is your actual businessname? Because I know it by something
else. What is it now?So technically the studio is titled gold Dust
(01:11):
Cosmetic Collective, and that is ourPMU studio as well. It's basically aesthetics.
But then you also know us asPinnacle Tattoo. Yes, yes,
family of artists. Now, whenyou think Pinnacle Tattoo and then you think
gold dust. They feel like completelydifferent businesses. Well, I mean they
are, they really are. Well, they're both in the world of esthetics.
(01:36):
They're very very different, and ourclientele is oftentimes very different. So
women are coming to us not justfor beauty services, but also sometimes for
a medical reason. Maybe they're lookingto close a chapter and their journey with
cancer, or perhaps it was anautoimmune disorder or something of the like.
(01:56):
So while they are beauty services, they are oftentimes very different purposes. And
my god, I just I hadthe flash when you talked about helping women
with cancer. I hadn't even thoughtabout that. I I've actually seen your
work where you are able to designessentially new breasts for women that have that
(02:17):
have been through so so much trauma. Yeah, and you know, it's
kind of a funny thing. We'reable to kind of flip the script sometimes,
so people will come at that stateso vulnerable, so raw, exhausted,
somewhat feeling triumphant of course, butalso just ready to be done with
that aspect. So you know,it's your opportunity to design. Do you
(02:40):
want a larger areo or do youwant a smaller areo? Or would you
like it to be darker? Howabout a little bit lighter? Would you
like it to be a heart? This has to be a circle. This,
this really has to leave you intears when you deal with you know,
you know this already, but studioas what was actually open because of
my father's diagnosis with cancer, andso so many times people will say,
(03:06):
oh my gosh, you're this andyou're that, and you know, share
accolades that I really don't feel deservingof, because the truth is, I
every single day just feel like Iam such a better woman for my interactions
that are shared with our clients, whether they're warriors or not. Like everybody
across the board, you know,we all get to share these individual exchanges
(03:28):
and if we're fortunate enough, weget to grow from them. So I
really do feel so fortunate to beable to have a hub that services our
community and I get the love andreturn. I mean, could you ask
for more? You? You know, you are such a friendly person to
talk to. It's I think it'sinteresting because I think that people can be
(03:53):
intimidated by you after they see youknow, your social media posts and whatnot.
You are everything that represents I thinka strong woman role model. Do
you do you ever have people askyou for advice if they're thinking about opening
a business or I mean, howdo you address that when when you're so
(04:15):
strong, but you also you're thesweetest person. That is so funny to
hear you say that, thank you, thank you for that. I will
say that, Yes, sometimes thereare people who have said that, you
know, your presence is really intimidating, and I'm not gonna lie. Like
every once in a while, thatjust kind of stops me in my tracks
and I just think, well,I can't change who I am, nor
(04:38):
do I want to, So howcan I How can I approach that in
a different way? And you know, I haven't found a solution for that.
I just don't know. I don'tknow how to be anything other than
me. I don't, right, that's right. So when people ask me
those questions though of opening a business, you know, I think everybody should
(05:02):
just bear down and do what youwant to do. And if you feel
like opening a business is what yourpath is, then put the work in
and do it. The challenge isbecause of the world that we live in
today. While there are so manymonitored advancements and you know, life is
much easier the disadvantages. Everything ismade to look like it happens in three
(05:23):
point five seconds. It's not showingthe years of grit that went into opening
a business or to having a thrivingbusiness. Everything just looks like it happens
so quickly, you know, becausewe're seeing it, you know, come
to life in a thirty minute segmenton a television show or in this brief
(05:45):
podcast somebody else say oh, yeah, my business is thriving. Well,
you know, we've had Pinnacle Tattoofor fifteen plus years and gold Dust is
you know, five years, soit's taken time. So I think that
everybody should do what makes their heartsing, and if that means owning a
business for yourself, then make thatcommitment. But also make the commitment to
(06:06):
self that you're going to work hard, that you're going to be diligent in
your efforts and cultivate a business worthhaving. Anybody can open something, but
be proud, work hard, andbe proud. I can't think of anything
else that would make talking to youany better besides telling you thank you so
(06:28):
much. You and your husband definitelya huge force in South Texas and an
inspiration to people and I'm sure tomany women. Thank you so much for
the work that you've done in CorpusChristy. You really have helped so many
people while helping your own family, which is just gorgeous to see. You
(06:51):
know, that's a beautiful way toput it, too, and it's a
great sentiment to even close with that. With a servant's heart, also have
the opportunity to self serve. It'sa beautiful mary. When you give,
you receive, So yeah, thankyou for that. I am honored to
be able to be a part ofour community, a valuable part of our
(07:11):
community, and watch all of usthrive together. Tina Lane, I love
you and thank you so much.I'm sure that your words have been an
inspiration on this International Woman's Day.Thank you, Squeeze, your beautiful wife
and chicken swarm me.
