Speaker 1 (00:00):
Rex of the Morning on see one on one. Well,
the PBR Velocity Tour is here Friday and Saturday, all
part of Buck Days.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Now, we're not.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
Talking about just a bull riding event. We're talking about
the full rodeo right here in Corpus Christi. I had
a chance to talk to Wyatt Rogers, who pretty much
grew up in the sport. In fact, his cowboy lifestyle
started even before he left the crib. Rogers a multi
time Oklahoma high school bull riding champion before embarking on

(00:29):
his professional career. The Oklahoma native continues to reach new heights,
and with the twenty twenty five campaign now in full gear,
Rogers determined to not only return to the PBR World Finals,
but also win a Velocity Tour Championship in the process.
So don't forget the PBR Velocity Tour Finals right here
in Corpus Christy, happening Friday and Saturday as part of

(00:51):
the Buck Days celebration. Why you gotta be awfully excited
about Buck Mays right here in Corpus Christy. How are
you doing this morning?

Speaker 2 (00:58):
I'm doing good. How are you?

Speaker 1 (00:59):
I'm doing great. I'm just trying to figure out how
on Earth do you prepare yourself to ride a bull?
And when that shoot opens, is there any way to
predict where that bull is headed next?

Speaker 2 (01:13):
It's all reactions because you've had the Everything you've done
up to that moment is preparing you for that moment,
and you just got to trust that you are ready
and your reactions are going to be live because in reality,
it's eight seconds on the back of the bull and
they're leading the day and you just got to react that.
You don't have time to really think about anything on
the back of the bull because normally if you're thinking

(01:33):
about something, then you've hit the ground.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Wow, you're not going to catch me on the back
of one. How do you ride a bull and not
feel like you've been in a car crash every time
you ride a bull?

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Just do a lot of like file metrics. I like
doing hot yoga and stuff like that, saying loose and
limber and h stuff that just going to help your
body feel good, because I mean, you're always sore as
a bull rider. There's gonna be something hurting you every time.
So just trying to do what you can to take
care of your body.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
When you exit the shoot. Does like the crowd leak in.
Do you hear them? Do you see them? Or are
you just completely hyper focused on the animal you're writing?

Speaker 2 (02:12):
There's a select people I can hear when I'm on
the back of the bull that my focus remains kind
of at his hump level, like her shoulders, because if
you're watching your shoulders, you can always tell which way
the bull's gonna go.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
It seems like these days we see so many sports
and people who aren't really getting along with other teams
and even people who are on their own team. Do
you do you keep to yourself or you guys close friends?
Is it like family? I mean, what's the dynamic between
you and the other bull riders?

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Oh? Yeah, that's my favorite thing about rodeo in general,
especially bull riding. I mean, at the end of the day,
it's you versus the bull. It's not you versus the
other guys. We're all a family. We're all going to
get off the back of our bull and then go
back down the shoots and try to help our buddy.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Well, whyet Rogers wish you all the luck in the
world with the twenty two twenty five PBR Velocity Tour
Finals right here in Corpus Christy. It's happening on Friday
and Saturday, May the second and the third is part
of the Buck Days celebration. Thank you so much for
taking the time.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
Thank you so much, Thank you for talking to me.
