(00:01):
Straw media. I was like gettingout of breath with that one. I'm
so yappy. Okay, what's upeveryone. It's Jordan Jones and welcome back
to the Jordan Jones Podcast. I'myour host, Jordan Jones. And here

(00:25):
is what Macha is vibing with today. She's happy to be here. Last
time, it was almost hard toget her to leave. She had zoomis
and she was underneath the couch andrunning all around and just having fun.
So she loves it here and sheloves you guys. So I'm glad that
we're all a happy little family overhere today. I want to obviously touch
on the big news that we've beenhearing is that TikTok is going to be

(00:50):
banned. Joe Biden has signed thisbecause it went to the Senate and the
Senate passed it, and now itwas at the President and he signed it.
The comment was that bite dance.I'm pretty sure they're the Chinese company
that owns TikTok. They get togo to court and fight it out and
it will probably never happen, orit will just be sold and it'll still

(01:10):
be TikTok, or it'll be somethingsimilar. But Anyways, I wanted to
talk about it today because I dolove TikTok. There's so many cool things
that have come from TikTok with mylife, and a lot of people have
been commenting like, what are yougoing to do now that TikTok's going to
be banned? And we'll touch onthat in today's episode, but I wanted
to ask you guys some of yourfavorite parts from TikTok and what you've learned

(01:33):
and you know, people you've metfrom TikTok, just so we could take
a walk through memory lane together. So today's episode is going to basically be
all about TikTok and why we loveTikTok over here. Yeah, I do
think that this is like sad,but it's also something that's been talked about
for so long. I feel likeit's been like two three years of people
being like, oh, TikTok's goingto get banned? Is TikTok banned?

(01:57):
So that's why I feel like it'sjust not really going anywhere. Obviously,
my agents have been like, it'snot going anywhere, but they also,
you know, may have some insightand may not, or they're just hoping
and they don't want us to stopmaking content, but I don't plan on
stopping TikTok. And obviously, ifit gets banned, I have Instagram,
and I did Instagram for years andyears before TikTok was ever a thing,

(02:21):
So worse comes to worse, we'regonna have a long time still before TikTok
does get banned. If it getsbanned, yeah, my favorite things that
I've learned on TikTok Okay, I'llstart with people I've met from TikTok,
because I think that that's really coolsomething very recently. I've always watched those
girls videos. She does food eatingreviews and her name is Lizzie. She

(02:44):
would do videos with her roommate Kate, and she called her her Almond roommate,
and I always liked her voice andI just thought it was really soothing
and love with those videos. SoI had comments on her TikTok a couple
days ago. Obviously, some she'llbe on the podcast because we've already been
talking about it, and I'll probablyshare this story again and I'll have to

(03:05):
like cut that part out because youguys will already have heard it. But
I literally just commented on our videosa couple, maybe like one week ago,
and we just ran into each otherand she's like, oh my god,
I hear you play Fortnite. Weshould play. Then we started playing
Fortnite together, and it's just supercool because that's just one example last week
of meeting someone from TikTok and becomingfriends. I think that that is so

(03:27):
cool. Whether you meet your onlinefriends or not, it's still so cool
to be able to connect with peoplefrom all around the world. And yes,
other apps are like that, butI do feel like from TikTok,
I get someone's like real self.People are more I don't know themselves on
TikTok Instagram. I feel like peopletry to be a better version of themselves,

(03:50):
and TikTok's your natural, organic outgoing. You know, you tell story
times about like things that have happenedto you in your life, and it's
just more real. That's why Ifeel like when I meet people on TikTok,
we just become friends instantly because Ican know exactly how they are.
Then Hi Macha also has a TikTok. She posted once today. It took

(04:11):
about an hour to film. Shedid not like it. There was hair
all over my sweater and I hadto change and I really wanted to wear
that sweater today, but she's cute. So what else have I learned?
I mean now that like TikTok shopis the thing. It makes me pretty
sad for creators or just aspiring entrepreneursto start these businesses and have TikTok shop

(04:32):
blow up their product and without it, people wouldn't know about their product,
they wouldn't buy it, they wouldn'thave this huge platform. I haven't really
done the whole TikTok shop thing, but I have a couple things in my
showcase and I have made money fromit, So I can't even imagine if
I, like really put some timeand effort into that. I know so
many people have and it's really goodincome from them, and that is something

(04:55):
that probably a lot of these peopleare scared about trying to figure out what's
next, which again a lot ofpeople have a lot of time to figure
it out. But yeah, it'sjust like something to mention because I do
love TikTok shop. What else?Obviously I've learned so much on TikTok I
don't even google anything anymore. It'sjust how do I open this? How
do I open this TikTok, It'llbe the TikTok of exactly how to do

(05:17):
it in ten seconds instead of allthese Google forms and everything and eighteen minute
long YouTube videos when you can justwatch it in two seconds on TikTok.
So I love TikTok for my likenews outlet, even though maybe that's one
reason that they're being banned, becauseI'm going to TikTok for my news instead
of the news. Who watches thenews? No one our generation, I

(05:38):
swear like does people get their newsfrom? Probably the Twitter trending category,
and that's how my mom does.I know a couple people who watch the
news, but they are not myage. What else do I love about
TikTok. I mean, I lovecreating TikTok videos because Instagram reels I do
post on there, but I feellike it's videos that I like don't edit.
I don't make content for Instagram reels. When I'm making a TikTok oh,

(06:00):
I have this suitcase, I wantto put stickers on it. I'm
gonna make a TikTok video of it, and I like to edit it.
On TikTok, I just love everythingabout it works so well. It's very
smooth. And I love making tiktoks. I love watching tiktoks. Yeah,
that is what I love about TikTok. But now enough for me the yapper.
We're gonna hear what you guys havelearned from TikTok today. Number one.

(06:21):
This one is definitely what my momwould say too. So much cooking
and recipes. Oh my gosh. We've spoke about this a little bit before,
but I feel like no one couldcook before TikTok came out. All
of these videos of recipes and stepby steps and fun videos, and they're
just quick and so easy to follow. It just works. The cooking videos

(06:44):
on TikTok. I won't even makeanything, but I'll watch all of them.
I'll save them and be like,oh, this one's a good one,
and then you don't do it.But they're entertaining, they're helpful.
You just would have never known, you would have never tried that. But
yeah, my mom every night she'llbe like, oh, I have any
TikTok recipes to make for dinner. She really does them, she really likes
them. She makes so much.My brother loves them. It's like desserts.

(07:08):
It's chicken. It's food hacks. That's another one. Food hacks are
so big on TikTok. And onething I still want to try is the
chickle. You basically like put cheeseon the frying pan and you add a
pickle and then you fold it andyou eat a chickle. And I really
want to try that because I lovepickles. I don't love cheese, but
it's kind of like a fried pickle, and those are amazing. But there's

(07:30):
just so many, not even justfood hacks, but hacks overall. I
just saw one about a dumpster. You have to like pull one dumpster and
people have done this their entire life. My mom was like, what,
you pull one dumpster and it's soheavy and you have to take it all
the way to the end of yourdriveway. But there's this hack where you
basically put the other lid inside ofthe other one and it just attaches and

(07:51):
you can pull them both at thesame time. What how have I not
known about that? I swear thesehacks on TikTok are crazy. Remember that
friend that's like, show me thelife hack that you randomly saw one day
that is now in your brain.Whatever. I don't know the top of
my head, though, But Idid watch all of those videos because I
was just what, how did Inot know that? And I literally would

(08:15):
have not known it without TikTok andanother thing like Instagram reels. I feel
like they have the most fed upvideos. I feel like reels is the
bad one. I don't even wantto say it, but it's like racist.
It's making fun of kids and peoplewho have disabilities. I don't know
what's wrong with mine. I don'twatch reels for it to even have an

(08:35):
idea of what I like. Sojust knowing that those are what's trending is
so much worse than what's on TikTok. What is going on? But anyways,
Number two, that social media isfake. This probably comes with how
people are so real on TikTok,and I feel like it's a good thing

(08:56):
to show. A lot of peoplewould think that this is like a bad
one, but I see it ina good way because I do remember.
One of the most viral videos thatI can think of that was basically promoting
in a good way that social mediais fake was Alex Earle. When she
was first starting. She was goingviral because she was showing what she looked
like without the beauty filter what shelooked on with the beauty filter, and

(09:18):
that she was struggling with acne atthe time, and she would take off
the beauty filter and she'd be like, see, guys, like, social
media is fake. You guys arepraising me for this, this and that
when this is really what I looklike. But everyone was like, oh
my gosh, Like it turned outto be such a good thing, and
to show people that social media isfake and people edit their photos and that
literally everyone is beautiful. You canbe beautiful with acne, whether you're this,

(09:43):
this, and that. It's justshowing people that you are who you
are. And I think that it'sa good thing that people are like showing
their true self on TikTok and thenthey'll look a certain way on Instagram.
It's just so authentic. And Iwanted to mention that because of that video
that was in my mind when Iread that. But yeah, people flex

(10:05):
and all of that stuff, andit's a totally different thing. But I
always feel like if you were inthat position, you would probably be flexing
too, So it's kind of justa jealousy thing. Yeah, but the
flexing thing, I don't really knowhow to comment about that. Because everyone's
life is so much better on socialmedia than how it is in real life.
That is literally not a lie.I don't think anyone's life is actually

(10:28):
better off of well Nope, thatis a lie. Because some people,
when they do take a break fromTikTok creators like myself, I do hear
stories of oh wow, I've neverfelt so much happier because I'm not stressed
about creating content all the time.Yeah, so I guess I don't really
know what to do about that one. Nothing is as it seems in fomo

(10:50):
is so real. When everyone wasat Coachella this year, I was like,
dang, I didn't even want togo to Coachella, but I kin
don't want to go next year becauseI felt like it looked like so much
fun. But then after Coachella, with like the debreaching videos, everyone's like,
oh my god, I lost myphone, I lost my wallet.
I was so drunk, I gotlike dropped off at the wrong address.
I didn't know where I was.Maybe it's not that fun, Like,

(11:11):
yeah, the videos, if youlike in the crowd and like you're jumping
and you're on someone's shoulder, butthen the video ends and you're, oh,
my feet hurt, I'm cold.So it's just like you never really
know what is real and what's not. And yeah, it's even hard for
me to tell when I'm a contentcreator and I'm like, oh, wow,
like that was so fake. Thatwas planned because I'm not good at
seeing that either. All right,Next one that you should never air your

(11:39):
personal drama because it will come backand haunt you later goes for all social
media though. Yeah, this istrue with anything in my life. For
some reason, I feel like Itake videos in my phone to kind of
document and be like my little diary. I'm always like, oh, like,
there's a trending song about like crying, and I have a video from
six months ago me crying in thecar. Maybe I should like post this,

(12:01):
but then I don't want it tobe taken and like what's wrong with
her mom, her boyfriend, what'sgoing on? Did her cat die?
Everyone's mind will go to places thatyeah, it's just like a crying video,
and you're probably talking about like specificdrama, a breakup or I don't
know, something that's going on inyour friend group, and it's all posted
about because you want to start beefwhat for. I definitely agree with this,

(12:24):
this specific thing has happened to me. With that crying video, I
was like, Oh, I don'twant anyone to be thinking that this is
something because I used to just postwhatever, Like I was so open with
the Internet about everything and some thingsthat weren't even happening that I was just
like, oh, yeah, itlooks like this and oh this reviews and
that, and so now I justpost what I want, and I share

(12:46):
what I want, and I don'tshare what I don't want, and everything
is better. So I had tolike learn this the hard way. This
one one hundred percent. I totallyget it. This is so valid.
But again, it's not just aTikTok thing. It's overall social media thing,
all right. Next one, Thisone is kind of a hack and
beauty. I love it. Blowoutwith hair dryer and round brush. Wow,

(13:09):
all of these hair trends on TikTokare amazing, right, Macha,
the Delainey Child's bun, this isn'texactly it. This is just like my
normal messy bun. But I havetried that one out. It's amazing.
People can do the craziest blowouts athome now that they never would have done
with a round brush and you're holdingit, and like the Unicorn curls and

(13:31):
they use a sock and they useall these different things to have heatless curls.
I've also just learned a lot abouthair oiling and rosemary and masks and
hair health. TikTok has helped meso much with beauty and inspe tips with
hair and tricks and stuff like that, but this one just stood out to
me because I would pay people somuch to do my hair. I would

(13:54):
go to dry bar, which Imean I still do. I love drybar,
but people doing this stuff at homenow it was literally not happening like
two years ago. And just becauseof TikTok, people have really just learned
and watched so many people. Becauseit's like you'll see a YouTube video with
one person doing something and I feellike people don't really believe it. And
then when you have three thousand tothree hundred thousand girls doing a hair trend,

(14:16):
you can see every single video reallyquickly of everyone's thoughts and how they
did it differently, and like differenthair links and types and colors and everything.
That's what I think is really coolbecause it's so easy to find all
these other videos underneath the same soundor hashtag. When YouTube and reels,
I just don't really think is exactlylike that. But again I don't really
use Instagram reels. Maybe they dothat there too, all right, the

(14:41):
one you've all been waiting for, that the world is a mess. Yeah,
but also it's real life. I'llsee a TikTok about ten things that
have happened today in the world thatare not on the news, and TikTok
is telling us all this other informationof things that are really happy in the
world. It's just like how itis. But all of that is coming

(15:03):
with Oh no, it's like notreal and TikTok is fake and this news
is fake. So that's why theywanted to get taken down or something.
I don't know. It is amess. It's always been a mess,
I think. But yeah, Iobviously had to mention that one because that's
a big deal right now. Right. Next one, how to make money

(15:24):
posting content on TikTok. But thissucks for creators who rely on TikTok income.
Yeah, I mean a lot ofpeople have started to make money,
say they were a server for twoyears at Texas Roadhouse, but they've done
TikTok for two months and joined theCreator Fund, and they're like, I
made more money in these two monthsthan I did working as a server.

(15:45):
People are really learning how to promotethemselves and work the algorithm and learn more
about how to make money on theinternet. I think TikTok really helped a
lot of people with this especially, and a lot of people are making video
that say they do rely on TikTok. But with me, I was relying
on one app, and then thatturned into me growing on another app,

(16:07):
and then another app and another app, and then just creating a name for
myself and now working for all theseother apps and all these other brands.
So it's like starting somewhere is veryimportant. And I don't think it's Oh,
TikTok's going to be banned, soI'm not going to make any more
money. You know, you takeyour audience and you expand and you try
new things. And with every influencer, content creator, we've you know,

(16:29):
we've done it all. We haveto post on all these platforms and it's
not just TikTok. So if youare one of these TikTokers that have only
made money on TikTok. It justreally suggests that you start posting on Snapchat,
YouTube, YouTube shorts, Instagram,Instagram reels. Take all that old
content that you have on TikTok andpost it a million times on all these
other platforms. If one doesn't getviews, delete it, repost it.

(16:52):
Just keep on posting all your oldcontent onto all these other platforms and see
what sticks and what hits, andyou'll be able to find your audience again.
And you know, you just haveto keep posting. Do not have
to give up. And this isanother food hack. How to take out
the tendons from the chicken with thefork. It just made me laugh.

(17:12):
I remember when I first saw this, people were doing like napkins and forks,
and it literally works. That grosstendon, that white piece in the
middle of chicken just basically pull herit out. It's so cool. Yeah,
I had to mention that one. It's so funny. It's another one
of these TikTok food hacks, andit's a great one that I learned.

(17:33):
I need more much of content inmy life, Macha, did you hear
them? Thank you to whoever wrotethis. You made her day. Next
one fashion advice. Oh my gosh, yes, guys. I'll watch these
videos all day long of a basicoutfit, say like Jeane shorts and a
white shirt, and it'll be liketen ways how to style this, and

(17:56):
you see ten ways of how tostyle that, and I'm like, oh
my god, how I not thinkof that. You could take a basic
outfit at a belt, sunglasses, bag, sweater around your shoulder, cute
shoes. It's just so good forpacking. And yeah, TikTok has helped
me so much with fashion advice doesn'tlook like it, but it also keeps
you up on the trends. Let'sjust say this is a vintage tea and

(18:18):
I mean, I love Matt Happy, so these are just my comfortable sweatpants.
This is another super cool one. This person said how to do my
nails. I've seen so many peopletry like jel X manicures at home,
and it just looks so easy andfun. But I don't know if I
could ever do it. And Ilove going to the nail salon. I
hope that industry stays alive. Ilove it. But a lot of people

(18:41):
have learned how to do this andthen they even started their own business out
of it, so super cool again. I love that you can learn so
many things on TikTok. Last onebest one how to dance. I mean,
this did kind of start with musicallya little bit, but TikTok in
twenty twenty was just dance videos backto back. I'm so happy that,

(19:03):
like the dance industry felt like itwas coming alive again. Even though in
the beginning a lot of people hadfelt like it was just TikTok dancing,
it wasn't really real dancing. Peopleare starting to get that idea out of
their mind that like TikTok dancing isnot real dancing. It's really entertaining,
it's really fun. I love whenpeople can make up their own dances,
and it's really good for choreographers. It's really good for scouting dancers for music

(19:29):
videos and tours and be yourself andshowcase every little niche on TikTok has really
been so cool. You can reallyfind your audience for anything, and that
does go for every social media ofcourse, but TikTok dancing has just been
around and it's fun and I lovedoing it too. Thank you guys for
