We're back here in Seattle getting ready for game number
five of the American League Divisional Series. Ashley Ryan here
as well, and it is time for your frost brewed
cores like choose chill headlines. Game five will be George
Kirby for the Mariners. It will be Trek Scuble for
the Detroit Tigers. We knew Scooble. The announcement was made
yesterday evening that it would be George Kirby getting the start.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
He did start game number one.
Speaker 6 (02:45):
He will start game number five, first pitches at five
oh eight. The Toronto Blue Jays await the winner. They
will play game number one Sunday at five o'clock. The
Dodgers advanced to the nlcs ugain. They defeated the Philadelphia Phillies,
one of the worst losses that you'll see team suffer
at this time of the season. As the relief pitcher
O'Ryan keck Kerkering threw a ball away and absolutely had
(03:09):
no reason to be throwing it at home to begin with,
and it ended up being the death nail for the Phillies.
Their season is over. Dodgers advance. They'll take on the
winner of the Brewers and the Cubs. The Cubs force
day game five in that series, so they will play
that tomorrow night at five o'clock.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Kracking, as I mentioned, open with a three to one win.
Speaker 6 (03:28):
They'll play again tomorrow at home against Las Vegas.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Damn you, Golden Knights.
Speaker 6 (03:33):
They'll drop the pocket seven o'clock there, all of our
guys on hand to deliver it for you tonight two
o'clock pregame show. That's right, Friday Night football for the Huskies.
David Maler and the Hanks will entertain you from two
to six and then at six o'clock kickoff as the
Huskies host Rutgers. Coops will be in Mississippi taking on
(03:55):
the fourth ranked team in the country tomorrow morning, and
that kickoff is at nine forty five, and the Seahawks
will be in Jacksonville taking on the Jaguars. We have
a doctor, Greg bell a lot this week. We're going
to talk to him right now.
Speaker 4 (04:08):
Busy time, Yeah, I understand, yeah, yeah, it a little
bit like I.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Do now, yeah, yeah exactly. Are you already in? When
do you leave for Jacksonville tomorrow morning? All right, tomorrow morning?
So you are you going to go to the game
baseball game tonight to cover it?
Speaker 4 (04:24):
I am not a prayer commitment.
Speaker 6 (04:26):
Oh you got.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
Game five? Yeah, it was one o'clock. Would have worked
a lot better for this household.
Speaker 7 (04:36):
Oh I see, hey, Greg, real real quick. Have I
ever told you that we basically live in southeast Alaska,
Like we're a long years away from everywhere.
Speaker 4 (04:47):
You haven't, I didn't know that.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Yeah, it is a long flight to Detroit.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
That's a direct, that's a nonstoff flight, though, you're okay,
I would just I'd prefer to get up and stretch
my legs. Yeah, yeah, I can understand that. Yes, all right,
well like twenty times.
Speaker 6 (05:04):
A year, well before we get into Seahawks Jaguars a
little baseball faugh, what do you think about tonight?
Speaker 4 (05:12):
They wish they were starting Castillo. To be honest with you,
I'd rather have Kurby out of the bullpen and Castillo,
but I would expect both are going to pitch. I
expect like nine guys are going to pitch tonight. I
would think everybody but Logan Gilbert pitches tonight. I think
they're going to get them.
Speaker 8 (05:30):
I don't, maybe, said the Hunts schoobl fourth time. It's
the finality of baseball postseasons, that this could all be
over by twelve hours from or fifteen hours from now.
Speaker 4 (05:41):
It's just crazy.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, the extremes your seasons either. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
If they win, yeah, they win. It's the first time
in a quarter century Flord that's so. Yeah, there's a
very looked. There's a chance I'll be in Toronto for
Game two. I couldn't make Game one because that's Sunday
at five, right after the Seahawks, but there is a
Jacksonville to Toronto Flay.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
He looked into Oh, nice, nice nice. All right, Well,
let's talk about Jacksonville.
Speaker 6 (06:07):
We haven't talked to you really much at all about
them during the course of the week. How healthy are
the Seahawks going into this big, suddenly big game against
the Jaguars on at ten am.
Speaker 4 (06:18):
Healthy error? I mean they're not full full go. Devin
Witherspoon hasn't been on the field this week. Julian Love,
the Pro Bowl safety, hasn't been on the field this week.
We saw what happened when Love and Witherspoon didn't play
last week. It became potpourri of backups and Tyocotta blitzes
into linemen to nowhere and me and Mayah Pritchet getting
(06:38):
picked on when TERRYK Wollen went out with a concussion. Wollen,
by the way, has practiced the last two days on
a limited basis. He was doing some running yesterday. They're
progressing through the concussion protocol. The way the NFL protocol
works is that you practice in increments each day to
see how you react to the practice afterwards, and if
you are fine with no times, you do a little
(07:00):
bit more the next day. So he'll do a little
bit more today running wise to see if he's near
ready to play on Sunday. But they got goodness, yes,
said DeMarcus Lawrence, a defensive end who had the quad
injury chasing down Kyler Murray two weeks ago. Yesterday. He
practiced for the first time full go since that injury yesterday,
(07:21):
so that's a good sign he's going to play. Ernie
Jones had a shoulder injury that kept him out of
practice Wednesday, and he practiced yesterday on a limited basis. Anyway.
Nicki mon Warri was back to practice after not practicing
on Wednesday with the leftover from the ankle injury from
week one. So they're getting healthier. But the Love and
Withershman ones of the issues that I'll be looking at
(07:43):
today and they'll probably be listed as questionable, I would assume.
Speaker 7 (07:46):
Aside from health and getting those guys back out on
the field, what's the main adjustment that they the Seahawks
need to do defensively to make sure that they don't
have a repeat performance from the Buccaneers game.
Speaker 4 (07:58):
Well, Bucket, you're talking about tackling as if it just
came up last week, and we've talked to them here that
it's happened all season. They weren't tackling well in Week one,
especially in the secondary against Tampa Bay. It was at
all levels. It was on screen passes, it was on
runs through the middle, it was linebackers, linemen and defensive backs.
(08:18):
They're working on different angles of the tackling and shoring
up their form tackles. Again, nobody brings anyone to ground
in the NFL, certainly not during midweek mid season practices.
But it is a focus and then an offense. Not
that they don't ever focus on taking care of the ball.
But Jacksonville has produced fourteen turnovers, ten interceptions and four
(08:40):
fumble recoveries and fifteen in five games. Excuse me, that's
by far the most in the league. They're a plus
eight and turnover margin. If you want to look at
why Jacksonville's four and one, just point there. Anybody who
has a plus eight after five games is going to
be doing pretty well won loss wise, so the Seahawks
could any most teams in the NFL can say this,
(09:02):
But the Sea Oars can look at themselves and say, well,
if our quarterback didn't get run into by the right
tackle and fumble in the ten yard line against the
forty nine ers or thirty seconds left, and if it's
free blitzing safety didn't knock Donald into an interception at
the end against Tampa Bay, they could be five and oh.
So taking care of the ball on offense is job one.
They still need to get the running game more consistent
(09:24):
and keep saying that until I probably retire, even after
I retire.
Speaker 6 (09:28):
Yeah, And the crazy part about it is that, yeah,
I think that, and then there's an outside chance you
can play that sliding window sighting doors thing. And maybe
they're five and zero. But the bottom line is that
if they lose, suddenly a team that feels a lot
better than three and three is a five hundred football
team when they fly home from Jacksonville. So, I mean,
(09:49):
where are we in the level of importance to win
this game in Jacksonville? They went from underdogs to favorites,
so somebody likes them, but how how essential is it
for them to get this win on the road.
Speaker 4 (10:03):
Sunday, Well, it's still mid October. Yeah, and they're only
one in one in the Vision and still have most
of their division games ahead of them. The Rams are
going into Baltimore, who I'm not convinced is packing an end.
The Ravens are due for an uprising here pretty soon.
Does it happen with the Rams this weekend? So the
forty nine ers still have their injury issues though they're winning.
(10:27):
It's not essential, but yeah, you start stacking up losses
and games you should win and it will catch up
to you in the end. They they're nine and one
on the road, which Mike McDonald's like in the company
of four coaches ever, who's won the nine of their
first ten road games as a head coach. They've mastered
this ten am Sunday start thing for the last decade
(10:49):
and a half. But Pete Carroll fixed that and Mike
McDonald has stayed on that. So there's a lot of
intangible reasons that they feel like they can turn this around.
Just fun. It really comes out the fundamentals. Regardless of
where they play, they need to tackle, they need to
take care of the ball, and they need to run
the ball.
Speaker 7 (11:06):
Well, is it fundamentals that need to make sure they
continue to grow on some of the of the you know,
positive running things that they had against the Buccaneers. Is
it fundamentals? Is it attitude? Is it more play calling?
Is it you know, mixing things up? What is it
that they need to do to continue blossoming that run
game We saw a little bit better in the Buccaneer game.
Speaker 4 (11:28):
Well, usually it's blocking and targeting the blocks and timing
them running back with the blockers at the right time
and not having penetration in the backfield. That ruins those
blocking timing with the running backs because the running back
has to reroute themself those kinds of things. So everyone
has to do today that the cliches come out when
you talk about the running game and what a need.
But targeting is what they keep talking about. What's targeting.
(11:51):
It's when you're supposed to block the defensive tackle and
his inside shoulder to move him out of the b
orc gap. You buck him on the inside shoulder, not
on his chest or not on his uide shoulder. Because
he blocked him on his chesters outside shoulder, he's in
the hole. The running backs running to things like that.
And of course the defense attackle just doesn't stand there
like a post and get blocked. He's got jobs to
(12:12):
do too, and he's slanting and moving. And so the
targeting is what they keep talking about. And with targeting
comes meshing in the running game, with the running back
and the block being synchronized at the right time in
the right place. I thought it was interesting yesterday Jackson
Smith and jigg was talking about receiving and he said,
but he could say this for football. He said, the
(12:33):
game really boils down to being in the right place
at the right time. And if you think about that,
it's true the fenders that ball find them receivers would
the quarterback throws it at the right time and the
receivers in the right place to get the ball the
running back at the hole when it's blocked at the
right time. Smith and Jigba. By the way, I've wrote
stored the distribute about him this morning. He's second in
(12:56):
the league, first in the league in some metrics like
you are and yards per pattern and all these other things.
But he's talking about how he changed his off season
program to get stronger. He wanted to be bigger and
stronger muscle wise in the legs and in the arms,
to be more explosive in his routes and to be
better yards. After the catch, he went back to his
(13:18):
trainer he found right before the draft in Pensacola. Floor
got named Jonathan Jones, who he swears by, and he
said he got added some weight. He's trimmed back down
wight wise to about two hundred pounds, he said, in
one ninety seven to two oho two. He's listened to
one ninety seven, but he plays more like two hundred
or so. And then he also said that he really
goes back to his baseball roots. That would be timely
(13:38):
thing to put in a story is that he catches
the ball over his shoulder like a shortstop because he
used to play shortstop growing up in the Dallas Fort
Worth area, and especially going back on balls, he said
he still regrets running over a couple of center fielders
he played with because he was just so hell bent
on catching balls over his shoulder into the outfield. And
that's when you see some of his catches he's closed
(14:01):
up on in times. He had another one against Winfield
against the Bucks where he judges the ball in the
air over his shoulder and looks over his shoulder in
the justice running accordingly to still make the catch. He
credits himself in baseball for that. But Smith and Jig,
But yeah, he's he's becoming a national star. Him and Abuka.
How they went hi man a man the other day
(14:21):
against Tampa Pey. It got a lot of national attention.
Speaker 6 (14:24):
All right, well, you only got time for your key,
and I don't mean to lead you to one, but man,
it's hard for me to pick anything else but Mike
McDonald finding his pass rush again. Trevor Lawrence six touchdowns
this year, five interceptions. I mean, he's thirtieth and rating
amongst quarterbacks, so it's not like he's had some big
turnaround statistically. But the one thing that they've done better
(14:45):
job of is protecting a guy that feels like he's
spent his entire career with his back on the ground.
He's only been sacked six times this year, so they've
protected him pretty well. And the Seahawks suddenly have lost
their pass rush. Is there any bigger key than that
sacking Trevor Lawrence to this victory on Sunday?
Speaker 4 (15:04):
Well, Lawrence gets the ball out really quickly. I mean,
everyone in the league does now, but Lawrence in particular.
They throw a lot of short routes. Liam Cohen has
him running a lot of quick stuff getting the ball
out at the end and some of the other speed
guys outside in space. So that's when tackling comes in.
So they may not have big sack numbers on Sunday,
but they could still affect a quarterback more than they
(15:24):
did Baker Mayfield. Lawrence not quite as elusive and a
decisive a runner as Mayfield is, so tackle when they
threw it. Throw a three yard pass, make it a
three yard game instead of a ten yard game. They
did too many ten yard twelve yard gains out of
two and three yard passes against Tampa Bay. That's the
focus for them. I wouldn't expect big sack numbers, especially
(15:47):
not this unit and not against this quarterback and how
quickly they throw, but just to bring the guys down
when they get boy MafA is going to get a
sack someday. I guess it will be for the Seahawks.
I don't know that they need production out of him,
and not just in the pass rush, but he had
some mistackles against Tampa Bay as well. That their teams
(16:08):
are running at him on the edge. I'd expect to
steady dat at ten on Sunday. Tackling. It's fundamental. It's
key for three yard games, to say three yard games
on Saday. I think that's the key to the game.
I think Seattle's offense can move the ball on Jacksonville,
both in the run game and passing the ball with
how Sam darn was playing, And I think eventually they're
(16:30):
going to outscore them in the fourth quarter when something
like twenty seven to seventeen.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
All right, sounds great.
Speaker 6 (16:35):
I hope you pull off the rare, rarely achieved Jacksonville
to Toronto back to Seattle road trip.
Speaker 4 (16:44):
Thanks to Eric Canada. I didn't even know that route existed,
but no I know, so, yeah, I may pull it
off this for the douvelty, but I may see you
in the former sky to him as you guys get there. Well,
we shall see.
Speaker 6 (16:56):
We haven't even had a discussion about it. We don't
even know how we're going to proceed.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
We believe me.
Speaker 6 (17:00):
We were gobsmacked to find out we were going to Detroit.
So I don't know what the plan is going.
Speaker 4 (17:05):
Do you kind of just chuck and gag and your
way into that so you can chuck your driveway across
the border into Canada.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
I'm sure, but it sounds great hanging out with but yeah.
Speaker 4 (17:14):
That's city in amazing leagues. I love it there.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
I love the idea of hanging out in Toronto with
Greg Bell and watching some baseball games.
Speaker 4 (17:20):
Hopefully we can touch a great stake go rooting for
the Pacific Northwest to get their way tonight.
Speaker 6 (17:27):
Thank you, Greg, Thank you, all right, safe travels, Greg Bell,
our Seahawks inside of joining us right here on Chuck
and Buck in the morning. Sorry, coming up next, we
do play Factor fiction at seven thirty five BUCkies picked today, but.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
More on game number five tonight.
Speaker 6 (17:42):
And everybody's talking about pitching, let's talk about offense. Sports
Radio ninety three point three KJRFM. A lot of the
picture talk so far, and I know it's.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
Driving me up a wall. Yeah, I mean pictures are important, Yeah,
they're just not cool. Okay, all right, be a weird
game without a pick.
Speaker 6 (17:58):
Well, let's talk about some offense and offensive decisions. I
think I know where you're going to go here, but
at least we can have an adult conversation about it.
Speaker 7 (18:08):
Garver or Canzone. Tonight against Schooble, I would go Kanzone.
I mean I would go Kanzone simply because you know
he's going. Yes, of course he's definitely going Garver. I
would go forward before I go Garver, but that's not
gonna happen.
Speaker 4 (18:26):
Or Revos.
Speaker 7 (18:27):
You mentioned Revos, but if you're just those two, no,
they're not going to They're gonna go Garver. They're paying
him some decent money and he has been. He's come
up with some big knocks, like three of them in
two years. And you know, I suppose I understand the reasoning.
He's veteran, he probably will have a calmer heartbeat. But
(18:48):
against Scooble, you don't necessarily want to be that calm.
You've got to go attack him. He's attacking you. You're
either the predator or the prey. And the reason I
can't stand Garver is he basically is okay with me
the prey.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
He's okay.
Speaker 7 (19:01):
We're just like, well, I'll be fine if I just
battle for a walk here, like no, go do something
up there for crying out loud. And then I kind
of mentioned the splits yesterday and Canzone. Canzone is far
more dangerous. Now he could look absolutely silly against a
guy like Scooball, well, so could Garver. And there's splits.
(19:21):
Lefties against lefties. Can Zones are better period, There's no
there's I mean, they're not gonna do it. They're gonna
go Garver and it's gonna bug the hell out of me.
And Okay, I guess hopefully we can get to schoobl
out of there in five or maybe six, and then
we can get him out of the game when the
well we got.
Speaker 6 (19:38):
Him out in five or six, it's not gonna come
down to Garver or Canzone at that point. Well, if
we've gotten Schooble out after five innings, it probably means
we're up six to.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
One, and then Garver and Canzone can be in.
Speaker 4 (19:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (19:50):
I know, no, and I'll just still have a happy
moment in the seventh inning when they pinch it for Garver.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
Last time we face them faced Schooble.
Speaker 6 (19:58):
Josh Naylor hit sixth, so the lefty lefty thing, but
he's coming off a game in which he had three hits,
his first three hits of the series.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
Do you move him up in the order?
Speaker 7 (20:08):
No, No, probably not, Probably still keep Polonko there just
it's I mean, because you're talking about possibly, I mean,
you have to look at the the more likely scenarios
that he's probably going to go through the order at
least twice, if not three times, and you're hoping that
you can do some damage against him if you get
him to where it's that you got two guys on
(20:29):
there's two outs.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
You want to have a rity up there. You want
to have a switch hitter, and Polonco up there probably
before him. Well, but that he could move up to fifth. Oh,
if you're having Polonco hitting fourth, you're.
Speaker 6 (20:40):
Saying, well, frankly, I mean what I'm I'm asking you
a question. What I'm saying then is I would really
entertain leading off Polanco tonight. And I realize that's a
bit of a shakeup and you haven't hit that way
in Game number four that way at all, but scool,
I mean, Polanco's it's real five three forty five on
(21:01):
base eight eighty eight ops against left handers, all left
handers this season. I wouldn't mind just starting the game
off with we're going to have Polanco up as many
times as we can against Schoogble since he owned you
the last time we faced you. I wouldn't mind going Polonko,
cal Julio Naylor, a Rosarina Gino, and then fill out
(21:24):
your rest of your lineup from that point. I wouldn't
mind shaking it up a little bit. I want Polonko
staring him straight in the eyes on the very first
pitch he throws tonight.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
Yeah, uh well, I don't.
Speaker 7 (21:32):
I don't mind that idea because they do like the
grittiness I'll say. I mean, they're not going to switch
it up like that as much as that I hear
what your idea is. It's a Roserina and a Rosarina
that when they played him the last time, I mean,
he let off the game with a knock against him.
If a Rosarina can we can get a little bit
of a version of the playoff of ros Arena that
we've seen him do before.
Speaker 2 (21:52):
I'm still okay with him starting that thing off.
Speaker 6 (21:54):
All right, More preview coming your way in a moment.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
Factor Fiction, now, though, where's that to go? Glad with us?
Speaker 1 (22:00):
It's your shot at our weekly thousand bucks and the
ten thousand dollars grand prize. It's Factor Fiction, probably presented
by Lucky Eagle Casino and Hotel where every day feels
Lucky Factor fiction is on Sports Radio ninety three point
three KJR FM.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
All right, a shot at one thousand dollars right now.
It is Friday, so this is the last day.
Speaker 6 (22:40):
This isn't the last chance you'll have all day to
get into that drawing for one thousand dollars from Lucky
Eagle Casino and Hotel, but this is the last day
that we're going to do it. So this is the
last pick you get from the morning show, and it
is Bucky's pick today.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
Where are we going to? I'm gonna go college and.
Speaker 7 (22:58):
We got an undefeated team going at home against Alabama.
Alabama is still favored by three. I think Missouri as
good as they've been. I don't think they've faced anybody
like Alabama. Alabama's righted the ship after that Week one loss,
and I'm gonna take Alabama minus three at Missouri.
Speaker 6 (23:16):
I am a little interested in why it is only
three points, and Vegas usually knows something.
Speaker 2 (23:23):
That's one of those that sticks out to me.
Speaker 6 (23:25):
I was just hearing some analysis this morning from Matt Simms,
who sounds just like Chris Simms, and neither one of
them sound at all like Phil Simms.
Speaker 2 (23:33):
Interesting. I don't understand that.
Speaker 6 (23:34):
But he was making the suggestion that we're going to
know the name, and I don't even know the name.
It's the running back for Missouri. We're going to know
his name after this game, that he might enter the
Heisman conversation.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
That he is the real deal.
Speaker 6 (23:49):
So there's a little bit of hype going around the Zoo.
But yeah, it seems like Alabama would be favored by
more in this game. Missouri is not exactly a place
known for Well, that's an intimidating football environment, right, Oh,
that's where that's where champions go to die.
Speaker 2 (24:08):
Tiger Den. I don't know what you call it. Ye
call it the Tiger's Den. Columbia Missouri. Oh my gosh,
Brad Pitt went there.
Speaker 7 (24:15):
His hair, it's Ahmed Hardy. I think he's leading the
country in rushing right now. I think that's why. And
yet I think that who they've went up against. Their
biggest win I think was South Carolina and they won
by nine, and then they came back and whopped somebody
alf UMass or something by like thirty or forty points
or something. I think it's just the hype that goes
with that kid running. They're scoring a bunch of points
(24:38):
and they're five and zero. I just don't think they've
played anybody that's up to the caliber of Alabama.
Speaker 6 (24:42):
All Right, Bucky's gonna go with a Crimson tide roll
tad in this one, even though they're giving three points
to the Missouri Tigers, a home underdog that is undefeated
in ranked fourteenth in America right now. Alabama has been
on a bit of a roll.
Speaker 2 (24:58):
So what do you ake?
Speaker 6 (24:58):
What do you think of Bucky's pick? It's time for
you to lay it on the line right now. If
you agree with the selection, you're gonna text fact to
four nine four five one. If you disagree, you text
fiction to four nine four to five to one.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
Right now, one person in their car is like, Oh,
I get it. Factor Fiction Fact to four nine four
five to one. Fiction to four nine four five one.
Speaker 6 (25:19):
If you're right, we enter your name into a drawing
for one thousand dollars in cash, and we will hold
that drawing after we get today's round of Factor Fiction completed,
and ten thousand dollars could be yours.
Speaker 2 (25:31):
If you are the best Factor Fiction.
Speaker 6 (25:32):
Player of twenty twenty five, which means you have to
get the most right, not the highest winning percentage. You
have to get the most right, which means you've got
to play all the time with us here at KJR.
So once again, Bucky's gonna go Alabama giving three to
Maszoo at Maszoo.
Speaker 2 (25:51):
That means the Crimson Tide have to win by four
points or more.
Speaker 6 (25:55):
On the road for him to be right. Fact to
four nine, four to five one. If you agree, fiction,
if you disagree. It's all brought to you by the
Lucky Eagle Casino and Hotel where every day feels lucky.
We will talk more college football coming up a little
bit later on in the radio program, and your next
(26:16):
opportunity to play Factor fiction comes at eleven thirty five
with MJ and with Chris coming up next, though more.
Speaker 2 (26:23):
On Game five tonight.
Speaker 6 (26:25):

Hugh Millen's going to be joining us today for X's

(26:45):
with in a while. We'll be with us today at
nine thirty. We'll talk about the Seahawks and Jaguars. We'll
also slip in a little bit about college football as well.
Big night for Jed Fish and the Dogs out on Montlake.
Softy is just so beaten up by the fact that
he's going to be in two places. Have to he
can't be in two places.
Speaker 2 (27:02):
At one time.
Speaker 6 (27:04):
So he's gonna be there with a honks starting at
two o'clock today and then for the entire game and
the postgame show.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
Meanwhile, I believe his heart will be in a jar
and I will have.
Speaker 6 (27:14):
To carry around with me tonight out at T Mobile
and have to check in and feed it little snacks
and crackers and you know, grams of nourishment, and so
I'll take on that responsibility for him. But man, the
lid's gonna blow off of this thing potentially tonight. I mean,
think about all the stress, all the anxiety, all the worry,
(27:37):
all the excitement, all the adrenaline, everything that we have
had this season being poured into this one game, this
three hour moment that's gonna take place on our soil,
not in front of stands that are empty, but every
single seat is gonna be filled here tonight to watch
the Mariners take on the Detroit Tigers. Winner goes on
(27:58):
to the al set and the loser goes home. For
goodness sake, I mean, you can't get any better than this,
getting cut it with a knife.
Speaker 7 (28:07):
Yeah, well, I mean it's just the all of the
angst and the anxiety and whatnot. It's I mean, for
the nine years I've been doing this job. I mean,
I can't tell you how many times I would hear
people say, well, hopefully Americas are just good through like August,
you know, just get us to the NFL season, right, Well,
they've done that, and then some right finally broke through
(28:28):
and knocked the Astros off, won the division. Then they
even clinching that number two spot to where they advance
to this Division series. And yet they're good enough that
it feels like if they don't get past this round
then it will be disappointing.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
I'll be disappointed. Yeah, and yet this has still been
a fun ride.
Speaker 7 (28:46):
I mean, our friend Dustin Nickerson, his little tweet I
thought was hilarious. He was talking about how you know what,
regardless how tonight goes, this has been a fun year
with Cal and Julio and you know, the robust catch
and all of these different each hero in the Hall
of Fame. It's been wonderful. And yet if they lose,
I will find I will spiral into darkness that I
(29:08):
may never emerge. I mean, that is the epitome of
Seattle fans. It's like, Okay, they've been patient, or I shouldn't.
I don't know if it's been patient. We've had to
wait a long time for this team to get to
the playoffs and then do something in the playoffs and
have never gotten even to the big dance, which is
the World Series.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
And so I think everybody's like, come on, my hopes
are so high.
Speaker 7 (29:31):
You've done so well to get me this hyped up
about it, and now we lose a game that now
forces a Game five. But like I said yesterday, that's
gonna make it all the much sweeter. I mean, you
have to do it at home. You get to do
it in front of a sold out crowd that is
starved for your success. And so I mean, we're all
gonna be there it's gonna be a blast. I mean,
(29:52):
obviously it could. We could walk out of there just
being absolutely demoralized. I mean, you know, just hours from now,
our season could be over, or we could be heading
to a seven game series against Toronto took with a
chance to.
Speaker 2 (30:04):
Go to the World Series.
Speaker 9 (30:05):
Oh maybe almost puke, But I do think I fully agree,
because it is this anticipation of this has been so good.
Please don't disappoint us, but it's like this this week
especially has been the ultimate roller coaster, like the biggest size,
the biggest lows, because those losses just hurt so much
more because of all of the expectations that we all have.
(30:30):
And I do think, yeah, fitting that we're having this
game five. I said the other day, we are due
for another Alds memory. I want something. I don't want
to get rid of the double. I just want something else,
you know, something else to add on. Yeah, we need
something to add on to the double. Let's have it
happen tonight and it Yeah, it's a sold out crowd.
(30:51):
It's a standing room only, sold out crowd. Oh, it's
going to be It is going to be insane.
Speaker 6 (30:56):
Unbelievable, and nobody's gonna be able to match our home crowd,
especially after if you can get through this game tonight.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
I mean, I can't even imagine what's going to happen
to the city for the next round. So yeah, it
absolutely is on.
Speaker 6 (31:11):
And I thought Dick Fane in our round table right
before the playoffs started brought up a really good point
because I think you do have to divide it into two.
I think it has been a successful season to this point,
but there's a difference between a successful season and a
then a successful postseason. All right, I'm gonna go ahead
and put that in this category over here. It's been
(31:33):
a successful, memorable year and a lot of good things
have happened this season, so I've already filed that away.
But it does get separated, and it doesn't mean that
this season doesn't end in crushing disappointment tonight. If you
do not get through this there's a successful regular season,
and then there is having a team with World Series
potential maybe to win the whole thing, not making it
(31:54):
out of one round of the playoffs, and that would
be crushingly disappointing, and in order for it to be
a successful year for the entire twenty twenty five to
feel like it was a success.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
We have to at least get pasted tonight. We have
to win this game tonight.
Speaker 6 (32:13):
Then the American League Championship Series we can fill our
you know, you know, our hope chess with all sorts
of memories and knickknacks from what could happen over the
course of the seven game series with the Toronto Blue Jays.
And if you don't make it past that, I think
everybody would kind of feel not satisfied, but full, like
you know, walking away from the dinner table like that
(32:35):
was that was a good meal.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
That was a good meal.
Speaker 6 (32:36):
But tonight, I think the hunger would even grow. I
think you feel starved if you don't get through tonight.
So it's it's just enormous.
Speaker 4 (32:44):
It just is.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
It is just enormous. I know that the players realize that.
Speaker 6 (32:48):
I think they've kept it in great perspective the entire time,
and so we'll see how it unfolds tonight.
Speaker 2 (32:55):
We have you covered by the way.
