Speaker 3 (01:17):
Oh, thanks to all the highlights from the Major League
Baseball playoffs yesterday.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
They're on ABC, ESPN. Was there any Westwood one in there?
Speaker 6 (01:26):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:28):
ABC?
Speaker 1 (01:28):
And yes, yeah, all right, so yes, Major League Baseball.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
Did you notice that the games are a little a
little more intense because it was October and not September
from the day before.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
Oh oh, you noticed that matter?
Speaker 3 (01:45):
Yeah, like September baseball playoffs is awesome, but October come on.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
Big difference.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
I didn't necessarily a lot more intense, considerably more intense.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
And there was some pumpkin spice flavor added to it.
Really you did like smell it in case the TV.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
No, not at all.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
It just happens. It's just in your system. Okay, yes,
comes through. Uh huh okay. So wonderful stuff last night.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
All right, So one team has punched their ticket to
the Divisional round and the wildcard round. That is the
Los Angeles Dodgers did advance over the Cincinnati Reds and
straight games two. Oh, so they move on to take
on the Philadelphia Phillies. That'll be a heck of a series.
The Cleveland Guardians, the game that we're most interested in,
did defeat the Detroit Tigers six to one, so they're
(02:32):
going to settle that game that series today at noon.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
I'll get back to that in a moment.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
Padres won over the Cubs three to nothing, so they
even lept their series. And the Yankees defeated the Red
Sox last night four to three. They will play tonight
at five o'clock to decide that series. At Yankee Stadium
Yankees versus Red Sox, Incredible, Padres and Hubs will play
at two o'clock. Meanwhile, the Guardians and Tigers will play
(02:58):
today at noon, so they're backing it up a little
bit because they're only three games to play as post four.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
So at three o'clock, we.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
Will know the opponent for the Mariners in the divisional round,
which we'll start on Saturday.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
And who knows, maybe we'll know roster.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
Decisions later on this evening once we know the opponent,
maybe we'll know who's going to start game number one.
Once we know the opponent, there could be some critical
announcements made by the Mariners later this evening, but they
don't have to make those decisions until Friday. In the meantime,
the Mariners scrimmage. They had a scrimmage yesterday at two o'clock.
All went well. They're going to have another one today
(03:34):
at five o'clock. Hopefully all will go well. Of course,
there's some other things going on at five o'clock today,
the Yankees Red Sox series, for example. Also Thursday Night Football,
and it's an NFC West affair. Tonight, the Los Angeles
Rams will be hosting Mac Jones and the San Francisco.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
Forty nine ers.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
Brock Purdy is out with an injury, and so Mac
Jones will start against the Rams, who have gone from
a point and a half favorite to an eight and
a half point favorite this week. We'll talk to Mike
Sandu about that later on at nine thirty. Today, we'll
talk to our own guys Hugh Mellan and Greg Bell
with a twelve man roundtable starting at eight o'clock today,
So from eight to nine we'll break down Seahawks versus Buccaneers,
(04:16):
Nicki min Wori, all sorts of headlines there to discuss,
Baker Mayfield, you name it, and the Huskies will be
an action against the Maryland Terrapins this Saturday. At twelve thirty,
our own David Softy Maller now joins this.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
Hey, is it is it Saturday at one oh eight
or five thirty eight?
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Yet?
Speaker 1 (04:34):
It's not just yet? Not just yet. We'll let you know.
Speaker 7 (04:37):
We'll give you a little heads up. I'll text you
got for God? Can we can we maybe do your
boy a favor over here? Once you have the Yankees
win this series so that the Mariners can play at
five thirty eight on Saturday.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
I'll see what I can do from a selfish perspective.
Speaker 7 (04:53):
Yeah, I'm no Yankee fan, but I'd love to see
that game at five thirty eight. We got a Husky
Football game at twelve thirty and if the Red Sox win,
the Mariners play at one o'clock. So just you tell
me how many folks are watching listening to Husky Football
at one o'clock on Saturday if the Mariners are playing
at the same time the Dogs are.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
I hear it, I hear you, I hear you.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
I mean I I think we match up better than
the Red Sox, thinking than the Yankees. Thinking about that
later down the road, but I'm not worried about either one.
I think that's something I can jump on board with.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Yeah. Sure, well I'm not.
Speaker 7 (05:25):
You know, it's really funny, and I kind of feel
like I should be worried about somebody. Uh, And I
feel like I'm getting kind of cocky if I'm sitting
around saying, ah, nobody scares me blah.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
But you know, nobody really scares me.
Speaker 7 (05:37):
I mean, I think that this is this is kind
of exactly what we thought was going to happen, maybe
more so in the Al West than the actual American League.
That the freaking thing is wide open this year, man,
I mean even and you guys remember this, the year
the Mariners won one hundred and sixteen games, the A's
won one hundred and two, for God's sakes and finished
in second place.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
In the division. So there's there's no what do you
like that in the American League this year? Man? So
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (06:03):
I just kind of feel like the team that scares
me the most is our tape that if they just
can't get their act together and they've taken too much
time off and they're a little rusty or whatever, I
don't know, the moment. I don't think the moment should
be a problem for them. They got a ton of
guys on this team that have got playoff experience. But
I just feel like, if they play their best baseball,
nobody can stop us.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (06:23):
Well, I mean I think that they're confident and I
don't Yeah, you do, especially at this time in the morning.
Usually when I listen to you in the afternoon, doesn't
sound sexy at all.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
Right now, Super, I'll start the show off at three
o'clock just like that for you. Welcome to the five
twenty Softy in Dick. Well, yeah, whenever you announce your
your the name of your show, it does get me roused. Anywow, Well, I.
Speaker 7 (06:49):
Mean that's Bucky Jacobson, by the way, it is uncomfortable
Lucky or not Jacobson.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
Softy in Dick every day, every day three o'clock.
Speaker 7 (06:59):
By the way, every time I he Cutter and Buck
pop up on like social media, I think it says
Chuck and Buck.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
You guys have that same problem.
Speaker 7 (07:06):
Yeah, I don't. But there's a movie name Chuck and
Buck too. By the way, yes, yes, do you wear that.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Very well, very well? And you're not using like that
movie poster is like your official show like imagery or
because of what the movie is about. Yeah, yeah, Chucking Buck,
That's what that movie is all about, Bucky. Yeah, Chuck's true.
All right? So who you giving the ball to on Saturday?
Speaker 3 (07:30):
Uh?
Speaker 7 (07:31):
Geez, probably George Kirby to be honest with you, what
I mean. Yeah, I just don't know if Brian wu
was ready.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
I mean he's not. He's not pitching on Saturday or Sunday?
Speaker 2 (07:41):
Right?
Speaker 1 (07:41):
Is that is that fair?
Speaker 7 (07:42):
Can we all agree on that that? They've made that
pretty clear? It kind of feels that way that maybe
Game three.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
Yeah, so he won't throw it. Well, it's either it's
either George Kirby or Logan Gilbert.
Speaker 7 (07:52):
I mean, I'm just looking up some numbers here, and
you know, look, I realized that some of this stuff
doesn't really matter because we don't really have a big
enough sample. But Logan Gilbert has made twenty starts in
his career, whereas he he's had six days off or
more and he's got a two point four to three ERA.
George Kirby's got eighteen starts and he's got a three
eight seven era. Castillo's got forty three with a three
(08:14):
eight three. Brian Wu six days or more fourteen, his
ERA is over five. Okay, So go back a couple
of years ago when he took eighteen days off and
he came back against the White Sox and was okay,
but he was on a pitch count, you know, sixty
five pitches, and I don't know, I mean, I just
got a I got a hard time fathoming the Mariners
putting anybody on a pitch count right now in the
(08:36):
freaking playoffs, especially in a five game series. But is
it possible that we can see Brian wu pitch Game
three against the Tigers or Guardians and actually be on
a freaking pitch count because he's taken two and a
half weeks off.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
Maybe because of injury.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
Yeah yeah, maybe because of injury, but I don't think
anybody else will be I think you saw that in
this round. Like there, if Logan Gilbert, let's say he
gets the start and he said there in the fifth
inning and pitch efficiency hasn't been great and he's up
over one hundred pitches, but he's dominating.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
They're not getting hits off of him. They're not going
to take him out because of his pitch count. As
long as he's dominating, they'll they'll push him. Well, you
saw what yeah my Marono did last night.
Speaker 7 (09:14):
I mean, god, you know, thanks to Taoscar Hernandez, the
guy had to bust his ass in the first sitting yesterday.
And I never would have thought he would have lasted
as long as he did. But what he do one
and ten hundred and fifteen pitches last night for the Dodgers,
whatever the hell that was? So, I mean, for me,
it's either Logan Gilbert or George Kirby. Probably Logan Gilbert
to be totally honest with you, now that I kind
of wiped the crud out of my eyes and look
at these numbers I got in front of my face,
(09:35):
I'd probably say, Logan Gilbert gets the ball on Saturday.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
A fine in charge?
Speaker 7 (09:39):
You should be in charge all. We've all felt that
way for you guys. Who's getting the ball for you
guys in Game one? I got a Logan, Yeah, Bardy, I'm.
Speaker 8 (09:47):
Giving it to Luis Castillo. I just think he's been
thrown well as of late. One of the criticians I've
had of him since he's been a Mariner has been
when I feel like he plays down pitches, down news
competition at times. But that's also because we've seen him
rise to the occasion and he's thrown really well. Out
of all of our starters. He's thrown the best against
(10:08):
these guys. Now, Logan's thrown well against Cleveland as well.
He's telling that they've all I'm not really going to
be mad regardless of who they put out there in
Game one.
Speaker 7 (10:17):
To be honest, yeah, yeah, I mean you could you
can make an argument for probably any three of those guys,
like who's got the best stuff, Probably Kirby who's pitching
the best right now the last three or four games,
Probably Castillo, who's got a better history in this situation.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
Probably the Logan Gilbert.
Speaker 7 (10:30):
I think, Chuck, you just take Logan, I'll take Kirby
for giggles, Bucky, you take Luis Castillo, and the winner
gets Ashley.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
Okay, all right, get to take her home.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
Okay.
Speaker 9 (10:42):
I thought it couldn't get more uncomfortable.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
Well it did, yes exactly. Calloween, come on, what are
you thinking about Ashley and doing up there in Mill Creek?
But that's not that we roll. We roll the days.
Speaker 7 (11:00):
It's nothing out the way Bucky rolls in North Bend,
and I don't know what the hell Chuck's doing a Kirklin,
but we're not doing those types of things, you know anything.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
I'm just I did, guys.
Speaker 7 (11:09):
Honestly, I am just so freaking jacked up for Saturday
and Sunday, and really again from a selfish perspective, hoping
this thing is.
Speaker 1 (11:16):
Is it late a later start Saturday so I can
get my ass down there.
Speaker 7 (11:21):
I'm already panicking, I'm already gonna sweat, I'm already flipping
out with anxiety, trying to figure out how I'm gonna
get from Queen Anne Hill because we're doing the show
from Tom's watch bar for the Maryland postgame show on Saturday,
all the way down to Soto in time for a
five thirty eight first pitch on Saturday night. And then
I'm already panicking, thinking, how is a fifty two year
old man because the last time I saw a marin
(11:41):
a playoff game, by the way, I was twenty seven
years old. Because I was not at that Houston game
because I was working a Husky game that day against Arizona.
But I was a fifty two year old man gonna
handle three hours of Seahawk football everything that comes along
with that pregame intermission between the Seahawks and the MS,
and then get my ass over to T Mobile Park
for a playoff game on Sunday night. On on paper,
(12:02):
it sounds like a phenomenal idea, but here's me in
about the fourth inning of Sunday Night's game.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
Yeah, what I'm talking about? It would take down a
normal man. You are not a normal man, David believable,
I mean amphetamines. No, You're gonna be riding the.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
High of a major league playoffs.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
What should I be taking with me lucky Sunday night,
they're gonna have to put a Hannibal Lecter mask on you.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
You're gonna be so fired up Saturday night sitting there
and you see, God, you don't.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
Have to worry about that.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
Now you're gonna crash after afterwards. It's gonna be a
great night sleep for you come Sunday night.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
But uh, yeah, you're not believable. Man, What a day?
What a day Sunday is gonna be? You cannot wait?
Speaker 3 (12:46):
Uh, Softie is with us every Thursday we talk Huskies football,
but obviously we got other things on our mind as
well on this Thursday.
Speaker 1 (12:54):
But let's do talk a little Huskies of football here, a.
Speaker 3 (12:58):
Few days removed from losing by eighteen points to the
number one ranked team in America?
Speaker 1 (13:03):
Are you upset about it? Are you accept of it?
Where are you at right now?
Speaker 7 (13:07):
With all I don't think any team that's got Denzel Boston,
Jonah Coleman, and Demon Williams should ever be accepting scoring
six points against anybody. I don't care who you're playing, right,
I mean, look, I get it. Ohio State's awesome. You
know they got a couple of defensive linemen that Washington
could just not handle at all. That that linebacker they've got,
what's at number seven, number eight? I forget now the
kid that ran down Demond on that third down play
(13:29):
when he was scrambling out to his left.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
That guy is a freak. I mean, they've got players
on that team.
Speaker 7 (13:33):
You know, Dick and I were talking, I'm not sure
if there's a husky starter on defense that would start
for Ohio State on their defense, honestly. I mean, we
can talk about Price, Sock and Davis when those guys
are healthy, maybe, but those guys are really freaking good man.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
So that's number one.
Speaker 7 (13:46):
But again, I mean, you know, we've been touting at
least a lot of us are is maybe the one
of the best, if not the best, trios of skilled players.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
In the Big Ten.
Speaker 7 (13:55):
So I don't think anybody can be satisfied with scoring
six points. I don't care who you're playing for out loud,
but you know, how do I feel about the Ohio
State game? Asked me in a month, right, ask me
after Maryland, asked me after Rutgers, And if the offense
struggles against those two teams, then obviously you're not You're
not happy at all. But if they just blow it
up and you know, take on Illinois and Michigan and
(14:15):
Wisconsin later on and score a bunch of points, then
maybe in November late October, we can look back at
the Ohio State game and say, Okay, that was an anomaly.
They just played a phenomenal defense that might be the
best defense in the country. They learned from it, and
they moved on. But I do think that there is
reason for Husky fans to wonder how good is this offense.
I mean, they were scoring fifty points a game, but
(14:35):
they're playing nobody in the first three games of the year, right,
I mean, even the biggest Husky Hawks like me, You've
got to admit that the CSU, the Aggies of UC Davis, Wazoo,
I mean, those are those are high school teams in
a lot of ways. You know, no disrespect to Washington State,
they were the best team they played among those three,
But Ohio State, the Big Ted, is a totally different
kind of meats. So I don't know, man, I'm just
(14:56):
I'm just sitting a here going into Week five, just
kind of really curious as to how good this offen
truly is.
Speaker 8 (15:00):
Yeah, well, I think that even going into it, considering
who you played in the first three that there had
to be some sort of tempered expectation. That doesn't mean
you would then like, Okay, six points, that's fine because
that's the number one team, And so what what are
you expecting this week?
Speaker 1 (15:15):
They got to go on the road. They got a
road win, if you want to call it.
Speaker 8 (15:18):
That a going to wazoo. That's the first one in
the jetfish era. But this is one where you're getting
that big ten travel in. So what are you expecting
about them bouncing back?
Speaker 1 (15:27):
Can I just admit something to you guys real quick here?
Speaker 7 (15:29):
Yeah, please remember the SNL seeing with Chris Farley or
he's dreaming about sausages.
Speaker 1 (15:34):
Yeah, just sausage. Sausage.
Speaker 7 (15:37):
As Bucky is talking there asking questions about the husky
is I'm just thinking Mariners.
Speaker 1 (15:44):
Game one?
Speaker 3 (15:45):
How many heart attacks are you going to have watching
the Mariners on Saturday?
Speaker 7 (15:49):
Well, you guys know where I've been the last two days,
don't you. No, you guys have any idea what I
did the last time?
Speaker 2 (15:55):
Oh?
Speaker 7 (15:55):
Yeah, I do now now I feel so the odds
of that hopefully it dropped a little bit. Oh gosh,
mean to bring that into the e commerce.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
No, it's all good. It's why I planned it, now,
are you kidding me?
Speaker 7 (16:07):
Before first pitch on Saturday, I want to make sure
that the pipes are open and the blood's flowing properly
and all that stuff. So yeah, I mean, hopefully I
got a you know, doctor Mooney or whatever, Doctor Ralston
hopefully did their freaking job, and we're not having a
smoke break when I was getting this thing put in.
But I would I would hope the odds of that
have following for the game on Saturday. But Bucky, back
(16:28):
to your question about the road games. I mean, look,
they haven't won a conference road games since Oregon State
in twenty twenty three in November, so it's been almost
two years since they've won a game against a conference
team on the road. Now, that was a Pac twelve team.
This is a Big ten team, and you know this
is one of five teams. I know there's been some
talk about this. I think it's a little bit unfair
because there was an article that John Wilner wrote about
(16:51):
the Big Ten inequities in the schedule, and Awful Announcing
picked it up and they quoted you know, there was
one line from John's article about Washington, but a lot
of it about USC and UCLA because the bitching and
the moaning about the Big Ten travel is mostly coming
from LA To be totally honest with you, it's mostly
coming from Lincoln Rightley and Mitt Cronin with the UCLA
basketball team.
Speaker 1 (17:11):
I haven't heard.
Speaker 7 (17:11):
Anybody at you dub, including Jedfish bitch mine, you moan, wine,
you piss and moan about the schedule at all, when
really that they've got maybe the biggest right to and
it's not the travel. This is one of five teams
that we play coming off a by Ohio State, Maryland, Rutgers, Illinois,
and Wisconsin, and you gotta fly out there.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
So I don't know what to make of this game.
Speaker 7 (17:31):
I mean, I'm a little bit surprised that Washington's as
big a favorite as they are. They're giving almost a
touchdown on the road. This Malik Washington kid, the quarterback,
he's a true freshman, Bucky. He's eighteen years old and
he's six five, two thirty. I mean, he is a
beast for an eighteen year old kid. So I don't
know how good this guy is either, because they haven't
played anybody I mean they've played FIU or excuse me,
(17:52):
FAU NIU and Towson State and Wisconsin who's terrible. So
we're gonna find out a lot about both these teams
on Friday night for sure.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
Well you'll find out today when you talk to coach
new Heisl. He put a lot of respect on that
Maryland name. Yes, yes he did.
Speaker 7 (18:06):
And we're gonna talk to Rick new Heidel about the
brand new offensive coordinator and play caller at UCLA.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
Did you hear about that?
Speaker 3 (18:12):
Is that his son, his son Jerry, Oh, look at
that now calling plays? Doesn't he just go back and
be the u c l A head coach?
Speaker 1 (18:21):
For goodness? I mean he would do it. I know
you would do it. I mean that thing is a
train wreck down there, man.
Speaker 7 (18:26):
I mean, out of all the teams that entered the
Big Ten from the PAC twelve, I think they are
the most hosed, if that makes any sense. I think
they are the most screwed of all the teams that
entered that conference because their fans just do not give
a damn honestly. I mean they're they're fans down there
might be doing the same thing I'm doing right now
and just thinking Mariners news.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
I know they do.
Speaker 9 (18:51):
The big fluttering.
Speaker 7 (18:55):
This is a big one on Friday night or Saturday guys.
Sorry for you, Doug, because I think they got they
got four games left to go that should be automatic wins. Rutgers, Perdue, Ucla,
and Wisconsin are all terrible football teams, and you Dub,
if they're even close to legitimate, should.
Speaker 1 (19:09):
Win them all.
Speaker 7 (19:09):
That's seven games, right, seven wins right there? And then
the other four Maryland, Michigan, Illinois, Oregon. Do you win
one and you're an eight and four team? Do you
win two and you're a nine win team? I mean
this is those four games should be w's and this
is one of the remaining four that to me are
kind of close to toss ups. All right, plug something
before we let you go five twenty bar and grill today,
(19:29):
Mike Combrin, Rick new heisl before Thursday night football? What
is it?
Speaker 1 (19:34):
Rams and Niners without Purdy? Is that right tonight?
Speaker 7 (19:37):
At at five point fifteen? So sneaking in as much
Mariner love as we can. We'll be at Jimmy's tomorrow.
I think we're doing a big old round table. I
know you guys are fired up for that. Tomorrow afternoon,
so look forward to that. But I just, I just
I'm literally counting down the minutes until Saturday, man. And
the fact that we have to sit around the night
waiting for this Red Soaki Yankee game to be over,
(19:59):
to wait and see see what time we play on
Saturday pisses me off.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
But I guess it's the it's the price you pay
for being the two seasons. All right, man, thank you,
we'll talk to you later. Hi, boys.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
All right, there is David Softy mall the joining us
Thursdays with Softy always a treat right here on Chuck
and Buck in the Mornings. Coming up next Factor Fiction
comes your way at seven thirty five BUCkies Pick today. Also,
we'll talk more about that Thursday night football game. I
think it's already been picked by one of our colleagues
for this week, but we'll talk about the game itself
(20:30):
and maybe about Shdoor Sanders Mastermind. Next Sports Radio ninety
three point three kjr FM.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
The Chuck and Buck in the Morning powered by Juleela Frezort,
Casino DraftKings, Sportsbook for the Action Never Stops On Sports

Speaker 3 (20:58):
Fact Or fact Shed comes your way in five minutes
from now. Bucky's pick today, So make sure you're listening
for your shot at winning one thousand dollars from the
Lucky Eagle Casino and a hotel, our wonderful brand new
sponsor of Factor Fiction for the twenty twenty five season.
If you don't know how to play, I'll tell you
the rules, don't sweat it, and you'll also get your
(21:19):
pick from Bucky.
Speaker 1 (21:19):
So that's coming up at seven thirty five.
Speaker 3 (21:22):
The forty nine Ers and Rams will play tonight Thursday
Night Football, and the Rams have gone to an eight
and a half point favorite in that game, as the
forty nine Ers are going to start Mac Jones over
Brock Purty in the contest this evening. But the big
NFL news in the last twenty four hour news cycle,
and I hate say this because I have a real
problem with this guy being mentioned so frequently in the
(21:46):
sports news. I think it's low hanging fruit. But nonetheless,
Shador Sanders is in the news for the last twenty
four hours for pantomiming.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
An interview in the locker room.
Speaker 3 (21:59):
He didn't say anything, he just was mouthing words. No
audio was coming out of his mouth when he was
asked about Dylan Gabriel getting the start over him.
Speaker 1 (22:11):
Pantomiming has never gone over well in society. No, it's dumb.
Speaker 9 (22:16):
Definitely not.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
It's really dumb. If you're being asked questions, still pantomime
your factor fiction pick.
Speaker 9 (22:23):
I think you should try it. See what happens like that?
What are you saying disagree?
Speaker 1 (22:29):
Wait a minute, are you saying the Broncos are trapped
in a glass box of emotions? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (22:36):
What are you saying that the Browns are fighting against
the wind? I don't know what you're saying, Bucky, I
do not understand. I mean, if it's if they're bark
twice bark, if you're taking the packers.
Speaker 8 (22:50):
I just don't even understand how you can like where
like he just looks like a like a torp, like
just a spoiled little brat that you know, it's like
I when I don't get it my way, or when
I think that it's not that I can do whatever
I want because I know my life is great regardless
of whether because it is his life, he's going to
(23:12):
have a great life, regardless of whether or not he
ever becomes a good NFL quarterback or a starting quarterback. Ever,
he's don't have a great life, and he just kind
of acts like you, I don't really care about I
don't need this, I don't need that.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
I'll just pan, I'll just minme, I'll just just mouth words.
So what do you think about Joe Flacco?
Speaker 8 (23:30):
You know, is he going to support you and Dylan
Gabriel And you know, now that he's been moved back
in the depth.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
Chart, it's like, shut up work. I don't understand how
he thinks that's okay. He made enough gummy noises there
that I thought what you were saying.
Speaker 9 (23:50):
I think the annoying thing is too.
Speaker 6 (23:52):
You know, to start off the season, we were giving
him credit for how he was behaving and how he
was taking on the fact that, you know, he had
to earn a spot and he didn't want his dad there,
and we were, you know, giving him all his credit.
Speaker 9 (24:04):
And now it's like, okay, but now I'm annoyed.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
Well, I'm I'm going to criticize him and I'm gonna
defend him a little bit because the reason behind it
was I don't know what you want me to say
about this, Like that's that's the point of what he
was doing like I might as well just flap my
gums here because I'm gonna get in, I'm gonna get criticized.
I'm going to be a story on you know, Rex
(24:27):
Ryan Show Tomorrow Morning or Steven A. Smith no matter
what I say here. So I'm going to no win situation.
So I'm just not gonna say anything. I'm going to
put a goofy smile on my face, not going to
say anything. And I really think the main criticism goes
to all of those shows that continue to make this
guy a third string quarterback like a big topic because
he's not no and he shouldn't be. And you're grabbing
(24:49):
low hanging fruit, And I feel bad for those people
that like eating low hanging fruit that watch that crap,
because you're as much to blame as the guys that
are drumming up a story that really is an shouldn't
be of.
Speaker 1 (25:00):
Interest to you.
Speaker 9 (25:01):
You have to get in the ratings because you're watching.
Speaker 3 (25:03):
But for whatever reason, you can't get enough of third
string Brown's quarterback talk. Right now, on the flip side,
don't ever channel a mime. Okay, literally, you're coming off
like a clown. They are French clowns.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
That's what they are.
Speaker 3 (25:23):
And nobody, no quarterback that wants to be a future
face of a franchise, wants to be a leader of men,
can ever, under any circumstance, come off as a French clown.
Speaker 6 (25:35):
Okay, so it's a sentence I never thought we hear
on this show, not in sports radio.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
So that would be my advice to you. Don't ever
again come across as a French clown. Let's play factor fiction.
Where's that to go? Glad you're with us?
Speaker 4 (25:49):
It's your shot at our weekly thousand bucks and the
ten thousand dollars grand prize. It's factor fiction, probably presented
by Lucky Eagle, because you know in hotel where every
day feels lucky. Factor fiction is on Sports Radio ninety
three point three kJ R f M.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
Now I'm wondering if Bucket is gonna min us pick.
Speaker 9 (26:12):
We'll try to interpret it for him. Sounds like you gotta.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
Get that, get it right, and you're your food.
Speaker 9 (26:24):
You wouldn't be still forty nine ers are gonna left.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
Okay, weird.
Speaker 9 (26:28):
Yeah, I don't agree with it, but sure I'll type
it for you.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
The smart miming isn't coming in on that, all right,
where are you gonna go.
Speaker 8 (26:36):
I'm gonna go with two teams. I don't believe in
I'm gonna pick one of them. I I just don't.
I just don't think the Carolina Panthers are legit, and
I don't think Miami is legit. But I think it's
a tiny little spread. Miami's favored by one and a
half going on the road, but I'll go ahead and
lay one and a half points.
Speaker 1 (26:53):
I think the Carolina Panthers are still a work in progress.
Speaker 8 (26:56):
They look good a couple of last two weeks ago
against the Falcon somehow, and yet that to me seems
like the outlier of the whole thing.
Speaker 1 (27:03):
I think the Miami Dolphins win by more than two,
all right, two or more? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (27:08):
I think they should start Andy Dalton and then start
Bryce Young again because it.
Speaker 1 (27:13):
Worked last year.
Speaker 9 (27:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
True.
Speaker 1 (27:14):
Yeah, Andy Dalton's a better quarterback than Bryce Young right now.
Yeah yeah, But but.
Speaker 3 (27:19):
Bryce Young got a chance after Andy Dalton played and
then was actually pretty good. So maybe you got to
do that every year. Every year we got a bench
Bryce for Andy. All right, So you are taking the
Miami Dolphins on the road, and they are giving a
point and a half. Yes, all right, So that means
that the Carolina Panthers just lose by one point. Bucky loses, yes,
(27:42):
so the buck so BUCkies is bat only comes through
if the Dolphins win by two points or more. If
you agree with that selection, you're gonna go ahead and
text fact to four nine four five to one. If
you disagree with it, text fiction to four nine four
five one. If you're right, we enter your name into
a drawing for one thousand dollars cash prize at the
end of the week.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
And we're getting toward the end of the week.
Speaker 3 (28:04):
And if you're wrong, just try again, because you can
play every single week time we play here at KJAR,
and every time you're right, we enter your name into
that drawing.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
And if you're playing for the very first time, don't
worry about it.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
We've had plenty of winners who only played once and
won once throughout our years of doing Factor fiction. But
then we hope you get the bug and then you
play all the time, like right, well, the rest of
these Sikos out there, So fact.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
To four nine four five one. If you agree with
Bucky's pick fiction.
Speaker 3 (28:33):
If you disagree, again, he's taking the Miami Dolphins giving
a point and a half to the Carolina Panthers on
the road ten thousand dollars. Jackpot awaits this year's Factor
Fiction Champion. That Too, presented by Lucky Eagle Casino and
Hotel where every Day Feels Lucky.
Speaker 6 (28:54):
We do also have to give a shout out, by
the way to Brenda from Eatonville.
Speaker 9 (28:57):
She was the winner last week on Your Pick kind
Away Jackson plus two and a half at San Francisco.
Good job Brenda.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
And I don't think I got the majority of the
vote on I doubt you did. Yeah, I doubt you did.
Speaker 9 (29:10):
But she was smart, she picked backed and she won
a thousand bucks.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
Would make a good team, right Brenda and Eatonville. Brenda
and I we go. We have a We've got a
great rapport the two of us.
Speaker 9 (29:21):
Yeah, yeah, I always known that about you guys.
Speaker 8 (29:24):
Yeah, you and Brenda. You guys, two peas in a pod.
Really simpatico, you will undred percent.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
It looks like the window thing's not working again.
Speaker 8 (29:34):
We're getting a bunch. We're getting a bunch of them.
So for those of you that are still listening after
you typed in fact, because you know that I'm right,
We did get your text. Yeah, they are mad about it.
Speaker 1 (29:44):
It's not our fault.
Speaker 6 (29:45):
And there's apparently some new bug that sometimes it doesn't
work till seven forty. So maybe all the ones after
seven forty will get a bounce back and all the
ones before that aren't getting to bounce back.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
But both of them count. All right, we've got them.
Speaker 3 (29:56):
Don't worry got you keep your picks coming in and
then don't worry your little heads. We do have them registered.
You are in for today's Factor Fiction Round. Next chance
to play as at eleven thirty five this morning with
MJ and with Christopher Kidd coming up next. Mariners getting
ready for Saturday. Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM
(30:20):
twelve man Round Table comes your way at the top
of the hour. That's right, eight to nine o'clock here
on a Thursday. Hugh Milling, Greg Bell. We'll get them together.
We'll gab about the Seahawks as they get set to
host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Sunday. They're not moving
the game time turns out, it worked out. Major League
Baseball NFL got together and said, hey, this makes sense.
You're right, you're right, Rob. Thanks Roger, would you like
(30:43):
to go out and have some soft serve? So anyway,
it's gonna work out one five Star time for the
Seahawks on Sunday, and then the Mariners are playing the
five o'clock game on Sunday night, no matter what.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
Happens today in the Major League Baseball playoff.
Speaker 3 (31:00):
Speaking of the Major League Baseball Playoffs, there's a lot
of concern going on about rest versus rust, and understandably so,
it's a topic that comes up in every single sport all.
Speaker 1 (31:09):
The time this time of the year.
Speaker 3 (31:11):
And we haven't had the Mariners sitting around for a
week in the playoffs waiting for their opponent. This is
just foreign territory for us up here in Seattle. I
know one person on this show that isn't worried about it,
and his name is Bucky Jacobson.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
Why aren't you worried about this?
Speaker 8 (31:28):
Well, I mean, I just don't think that it's I
don't think it's a thing unless you think it's a
thing as an individual player. And if you do, then
there's a weakness between the years that you were probably
not going You were going to be one that would
wither and will under the brightest lights anyways, because harybut Garbner,
well he better not even see the field, but yes
(31:50):
he would.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
He actually won the World Series. I feel bad, but
then again, you've you've brought this up on yourself.
Speaker 3 (31:56):
I've watched win a World Series. He was the best
player in that World Series named Corey s exact.
Speaker 8 (32:01):
Yeah, where is that he stayed in Texas apparently. I
just there's there's a lot that goes into I mean,
I'll say when you go back your first couple of
days at spring training after an off season, there's little
things that like, because you haven't been playing every day
that are it's harder. Like I'll just say, we're playing
(32:21):
catch and you were you know, we get back to
one hundred feet or whatever, and you're winging it in here.
When you throw it down at my shins, it's like,
I go down there and catch it, and it's kind
of like, oh, because you don't. You just haven't been
catching as much as you're used to when you play
every single day during the middle of the season, and
so it's kind of like and yet it just takes you.
(32:41):
It takes you a week or so, and all of
a sudden, that same throw you just bend down and
you just know for sure you're going to catch it.
So there's things like that that a long amount of
time off can affect you to where it takes a
second to get back into it. But I mean, it's
I was saying earlier today, how this team's gonna be
chomping at the and you want to kind of get
off the schneid quick and early, right, you just break
(33:03):
up a little hitter in the first inning, hopefully score
in the first inning, and then you're off and running right,
and then you get out to that lead, and you
all of a sudden, you get to play free. If
you end up going, let's say through this first game,
and you get shut out in the first game, well, now,
all of a sudden, the pressure of the playoffs, and
you couple that with the fact that you got shut out,
then it starts to be something. And yet is that
(33:23):
rust or is that you just didn't get going you
didn't get going again. I mean, you can look at
it a whole bunch of different ways. I mean, I
can remember I was telling you a story about when
I went to Venezuela's two thousand. I think I was
in double A broke my wrist and basically missed the
rest of season.
Speaker 1 (33:40):
I went home.
Speaker 8 (33:40):
It worked out fine because there was a thing that
happened at home with a brother in line mind got
in an accident, and so I had to end up
working for my dad. So I'm I'm working with a
cast on, I'm not doing anything. When I get the
cast off, I get an opportunity to go play in Venezuela. Now,
Venezuela's Winter League is like it's considered like four A.
It's better than Triple A, but it's not as good
as the big leagues. And yet I hadn't taken a
(34:02):
live pitch. I hadn't seen a live pitch. I hadn't
taken any swings off of even like velocity machines, anything
that throws decent in three and a half months. And
so there's part of me in my head like, well,
this is just jumping right back into the fire, right,
this is going to be the best competition I've ever played.
And yet I haven't had any ramp up. There was
(34:24):
no rehab assignment. I didn't do anything. And yet I
just kind of on the flight down there kind of
had to wrap my mind around well, still baseball, see
it and hit it, and I ended.
Speaker 1 (34:35):
Up going off.
Speaker 8 (34:35):
I ended up hitting seven bombs in the first seven
games I was down there. And so to me, it's
that was when E was born. Yes, And yet so
I'm not going to say that that's the way that
it would happen very easily. If I went down there
and I went oh for for the first game and
oh for for the second game, there's a real good
chance that I don't hit very well at all for
the first one.
Speaker 1 (34:56):
Diner's your mind that I'm not ready for.
Speaker 8 (34:58):
This, Yes, And so to me, it's how you start
this postseason journey is kind of how it's going to go.
So to me, it's just a matter of going out there,
grinding out AB's do it, simplifying the thing that then
you kind of get zoned up. That's the beauty of
playoff baseball to me is you can watch every single bat.
There's nobody that's taking pitches off. There's nobody that's just
(35:19):
cashing in like like you'll tend to do at times
in August when you're you've had five hundred abs and
you still have one hundred and fifty more to get
and you're you know you're you're losing by seven runs
and the sixth inning. It's hard to be tip top
shape between the ears every single time. But that's not
going to be the case here. And I think that
this roster, this lineup in particular, which is what I'm
(35:40):
concerned more, what I would have more concerned about when
it comes to rust. I think that this roster now
believes I don't have to put all that pressure on myself.
I just need to go out there and have a
kick ass ab go out there and grind this thing
out and see where the chips fall, and if you
don't get it done, the next guy does the same thing.
There's not a lot of breathing room in this lineup,
and so I think first time to lineup, you're going
(36:02):
to break through that initial barrier and then let the
floods roll.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
I admittedly don't know how they're going to start this
thing off on Saturday, but I think I would have
been in that.
Speaker 1 (36:11):
Position no matter what.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
So I'll take the rest, and I will take the
rest at the risk of being rusty. I think that
that's going to benefit this team more than what rust
will hurt them. That said, there's got to be something
to it. And I wish, like a Seth Wickersham would
do an article on this, really do. I want you
to research it so that every time that I get
(36:33):
to a postseason, regardless of the sports, I know the answer,
I know the quotient, the percentage of rust versus rest.
I want it broken down into individual sports. I want
to broken down into individual teams. Wickersham, go do the
research for us so that we have something to work
off of every time we get to a postseason, whether
or not rust versus rest, what really does went out
(36:56):
in the end? Yeah, because I want to do it
because that's a lot of work, and it sounds like
a Wickersh project. All right, coming up next, twelve man roundtable.
That sounds like a Millon Bell project. Sports Radio ninety
