Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, it's Chuck Brook and Ashley with you here
on this Thursday we roll into our eight o'clock hour.
You know what we do every Thursday from eight to nine,
we talked some Seahawks football with the best in the business,
our Seahawks inside of Greg bell is with us and
our QB one Hugh Millan joins us as well here
on this Thursday. Good morning, fellas, good morning, good morning,
(00:20):
good morning. All Right, Buccaneers on Sunday, for my money,
the best team this team is faced this year. But
you know where I want to start. I want to
go back to what we did last Thursday. Hugh, you
made a comment about, yes, it's tough to play Thursday
night football, but if you can win that game, the
advantage that it gives you the following week, Well, facing
this good of a team, I'll take any advantage I
(00:41):
can get. And this sounds like the healthiest the Seahawks
have been in quite some time. So I'd love to
see them take full advantage of these extra days of rest,
recovery and preparation to face this Buccaneers team on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Yeah, because the Buccaneers had to play the Eagles and
everything that entailed physically and emotionally playing at home, and
of course they didn't win that game. They had another
valiant late game effort that almost came through like it
had in the first couple of weeks. So I think
that that's difficult for them. A couple of them obviously
(01:18):
flying about as far as you can in the NFL
across the country, and then Seattle having that advantage. You know,
the point was, Hey, the Cardinals and the Seahawks greg
were on equal footing. They both it sucked for both
of them to have to play on Thursday. But now
they get the Seahawks, they get that advantage for having
(01:40):
that extra kind of mini buy.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
They had Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday off from practice.
Weren't on the field at all, so four out of
five days the Seahawks were off. They're not fully healthy.
I don't think the Marcus Lawrence is going to play
this week with the thigh injury he got in Arizona.
He didn't practice yesterday. Mike McDonald was starting to learn
how he is with injuries. When he is a circumspect
(02:02):
about Lawrence as he's been, it usually means not going
to play. Devin Witherspoon didn't practice yesterday either, but I
think they are managing his knee. He had a big
ice wrap on his knee in the locker room in
Arizona after he played. And Julian Love didn't practice yesterday
with a hamstring, but I expect him to play as well.
But Lawrence could be the one that even with this
mini buye not going to play. The players went away,
(02:25):
it was like having a second by. The coaches stayed
and did some self scouting, and we've talked about how
they've been very good when they've run to the left
side and being a left leaning offense. We also talked
this week, Chuck and I did about how they aren't
running left. The last couple of weeks since Pittsburgh, they
have run about thirty percent thirty five percent of the
(02:46):
time to the left, sixty five percent to the right,
and they haven't even come close to their rushing totals
they had against the Steelers. They are trying to get
their running game going. That's part of what they were
doing in the mini by. The coaches are trying to
reapproach the run game. They are far from hole on
the offense and they're not going to get their offensive
(03:08):
identity straight until they get their running games straight.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
Well, let's talk about that. You dive into that this
running game still is not where it wants to be,
and yet they are fully committed to it. I mean,
you've got one of the hottest quarterbacks in the National
Football League. He's throwing the ball about forty percent of
the snaps to this point, and yet a struggling running
attack is still the point of emphasis on trying to
get this offense going. What do you make of all that.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Well, the numbers would suggest, based on the difference in
the efficiency, that the Seahawks ought to pass the ball more.
I think that they feel philosophically that if they do
pass the ball more, the efficiency will go down and
sacks will come into play and the like, and so yeah,
that's probably at this juncture, almost at the quarter pool
(03:55):
of the season, probably the biggest disappointment for the Seahawks
is how they have run the ball. And it's not
just the wide zone. Uh, They're they're trying other things.
In fact that I think they've had a lower percentage
of wide zone that I had anticipated. You know, they
they're they're running duo in so I plays inside zone,
(04:16):
they're running power encounter, the gap schemes, they're pin and poll,
they're they're trying to get different type of schemes and uh,
and you know, really they just kind of are mired
in difficulty. And I think, I mean, CA nine has
had some of the most amazing four yard runs that
a guy could possibly have, and with with guys just
(04:40):
showing up totally unblocked, and his lateral quickness is able
to to at least reconcile something. So I think that
they'll continue continue to hammer at it. But I would
say from a scheme standpoint, Uh, it's not for lack
of trying, because we're seeing a lot of effort. From
a different scheme standpoint.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Greg, let's talk about somebody who's back and healthy. I
think it's a huge talking point this week. Nick emn Worri,
is he playing Sunday and is he going to? Are
we finally going to get to see this role we've
been dreaming about and wondering about all off season.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
Yeah, he was full participant in practice yesterday. It's the
first time he's been full since he's high ankle spring.
The fourth snap he had of the season in the
opener in that's game. He played four of the first
five snaps against San Francisco and the opener, and I
had my binacaos trained on him. McDonald put him as
an outside linebacker, he put him as a post safety,
(05:40):
and they put him in the slot. He got injured
as an outside linebacker, whitzing free when no one blocked
him and he ran into Christian McCaffrey for a tackle
for loss. We saw in just four plays, three different
ways McDonald intends to use him. They have just been
mixing and matching without him yet still trying the big
safety with the Anthony Bell and Tyle. So McDonald is
(06:02):
intent on doing this, but now he's got the guy
he's intending to do it with back in his lineup,
and I think we're going to see the fool em
and worry and everything McDonald wants to do with him
right away. They held him out. This is the fourth
of the week that he has had since the injury.
When they didn't put him on injured reserve, it suggested
that he would be back after at least four games,
(06:25):
because otherwise they would put him on iron. He would
have missed four weeks and it could have cleared a
roster spot, so they have been missing him. The defense
run defense, though, has been good. They haven't had to
commit as meant many snaps to a safety down in
the box and still stopping the run while getting pressure
from the front four in the past game if Arizona.
(06:47):
This is a big if, but if Arizona had not
scored in the last five fifty two touchdowns Thursday night,
this team still would have not allowed seventeen points a game,
they would be leading the league in points allowed. As
it is, they're only giving up about seventeen points a game.
Only one team scored more than seventeen Arizona with the
twenty at the end of the game. They are okay
defensively doing it with that with Devin Witherspoon missing two games,
(07:11):
with Emon worry all with four snaps so far this season,
and they're doing it without having to blitz, when they're
pressuring and affecting quarterbacks without having to blitz, and just
getting the front four. Leonard Williams, Lawrence until he got hurt,
Jaron Reid and Byron Murphy. Those four are allowing McDonald
to cover with seven and Bucky and Hugh and you
(07:35):
and me. We could all figure out seven against four
eligible receivers, you're going to be able to cover that
most of the time. And that's the numbers that have
been in Seattle's favors so far. Emon Warry is going
to only add to that. Pretty encouraging for the Seahawks
to be as good as they have been for four
games on defense without even worried being in but all
with four players.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
Who don't even worry. Be happy. Uh, he's back. He's
back for us. All you excited about that? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (07:59):
I think that he is really the Swiss Army knife
that Mike McDonald really covets. I think I think he
sees him in something of a Kyle Hamilton roll the
safety to do everything safety for the Ravens, who's first
has been first team All Pro and acknowledged to be
one of the best players of that style.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
Uh in the league. Now.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
He only played four plays against the forty nine ers.
I my notes, I don't have him as a post safety,
Greg I have him. The one time he was deep,
it was a quarter safety where they're rolling cover two
to the weak side and he was backing off in
the quarters. I't we haven't seen him play. I didn't
think he was good in post safety at South Carolina, uh,
(08:45):
being a single safety and and and that's a weakness,
so I don't I would contend that he has had
a snap at post safety.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Okay, we all call it deep cover safety a.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
Quarter safety, but but I I think that the most
significant of those four plays for me was the time
they went cover one man to man and he was
aligned to cover Christian McCaffrey out of the backfield and
with no bracket help. And there was a play I
believe it was Kansas City, but there was a play
(09:18):
that made an imprint on me in the preseason when
they went cover one that's man to man and he
was aligned out on the slot against I even looked
up the height and weight of the receiver. I think
he was sub one hundred and ninety pounds, so presumably
a quick guy on the hoof. He looked like a
quick receiver in the slot. And they had a feeling that, hey,
(09:42):
you just match up, use your length. You're a good
enough athlete to be able to be paired in the slot.
I think that's an important point because in the alignment
that they want to have him as a nickel Sam
often coaches called that the star position, that Nickel sam position.
You can't just say, well they won't they the Seahawks
(10:02):
won't play man to man if we put a guy
in the slot against him. The Seahawks have sown a
willingness to put Amon Worry in man and man situations
against ostensibly you know, a challenging and quick player. Certainly
McCaffrey would fit that description. So I think there's a
lot they plan to do with them, and I think
(10:25):
mcmike McDonald's is feeling like he gets his second crack
at Christmas this Sunday with.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
His brand new toy.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
They have a pretty versatile running back greg and Bucky Irving,
but he doesn't look like he's going to be playing
this week either. So how much easier does that make
a life for the Seahawks defense Sunday?
Speaker 3 (10:46):
Yeah, our Bucky that duck was talking about Bucky Irving
the Duck earlier this week. Now, that is, he was
in a walking boot yesterday and Tampa reporters said and
also with crutches, and Todd Bowles, the coach of the Buccaneers, said, well,
if he's still in crutches in a walking through Friday,
he's not going to play obviously, so they're holding out
hope he still can play if he can rapidly improve
(11:08):
between then and Friday. If he doesn't play, that is
a big deal because I've talked about how Irving is
very decisive, but not just in the run game. He
hasn't had a game yet this season Bucky Irving where
he hasn't had at least fourteen carries and four receptions
out of the backfield, and that is one thing the
Seahawks have struggled with defensively. Our passes to the running
(11:31):
backs outside in the flat and tackling after the catch
secondary missed multiple tackles and even just in the first
half alone when they were controlling the game against Arizona.
Bucky Irving is a dual threat guy against them outside
and inside pass and run. If he's not in there,
well for Shad White would be the number one back.
(11:51):
You remember that name? I remember watching or Shad White
won all over the Seahawks in Munich in twenty twenty
two as a rookie. The Buccaneers had the thirty second
rank run offense, and Tom Brady changed got to the
line of scrimmage in Munich and turned every pass call
into a run and they ran for one hundred and
fifty yards in the first half, where Shad White had
his first one hundred yard game. He's only had three
(12:13):
in his four year career. Rashad White will be the
number one if Bucky Irving can't run on Sunday, and
they will run because they don't want Baker Mayfield exposed
to a pass rush to tease off on him as
much as as Mayfield can extend plays. By the way, yesterday,
Mike McDonald said that in their metrics they used for
extending plays by quarterbacks, Baker Mayfield is number one in
(12:37):
the league, the best in the league of doing it
and producing yards outside the pocket extending plays. So, just
like Kiler Murray last week, it's another week of a
Seahawks pass rush having to rush disciplined outside in rush lanes.
Contained may be more important than sacks on some plays
because Baker Mayfield kill you if you get him outside. Mayfield,
(12:58):
by the way, is the first quarterback in NFL history,
and found this out last night he was writing about
him first quarterback in NFL history to win three games
to start a season, all in the final minute they
were three to zero for the first time since two
thousand and five until the Eagles beat him the other day,
and that was because the Eagles took a twenty one
point lead. Mayfield almost brought him all the way back.
He's still dangerous. Is a good Cooper Cup story. I
(13:20):
wrote in the News Tribune this morning about why Cooper
Cup loves and respects Baker Mayfield. Y'all remember the Thursday
night game Rams and Raiders twenty twenty two. If you
remember that Baker Mayfield had gotten cut by the Carolina
Panthers because Sam Darnold took his job in twenty twenty two.
It was the year that the Panthers traded with the
(13:42):
Browns to get Baker Mayfield, the former number one pick
from twenty eighteen. Donald takes his job because Mayfield only
when one of six starts. Panthers start Donald wave Mayfield,
Rams pick him up on a Tuesday and have a
Thursday night game against the Raiders. John Wolford started to remember.
John Wolford beat the Seahawks.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
Up here five put three full of muscle.
Speaker 3 (14:05):
Beat the Seahawks. He had another journeyman quarterbacker game in
here in the Pete earlier and beat him. John Wolford
started that game a Thursday night against the Raiders in Inglewood.
Three plays, three yards, three and out. The Raiders took
a ten to nothing lead, and McVeigh put Baker Mayfield in.
Mayfield brought him back from a sixteen to three deficit
ninety eight yard drive in the finals. He went ninety
(14:28):
eight yards in ninety five seconds. Learning Sean mcvay's offense
in two days, Cooper Cups said yesterday is one of
the most remarkable things he's ever seen. Learning mcday's offense
in two days enough to go down and win an
NFL game. He said, there are people in LA who's
still revere Baker Mayfield for pulling that trick off, and
so Mayfield and Darnold's career at ARCS are almost similar.
(14:49):
They're gonna play each other on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
It has been a wild ride here. I mean, I
don't know if I've seen it. I mean, you see,
like in those football games where you can track the
percentage chance that you have to win the game. Mayfield's
career has been like a number one overall pick one
hundred percent chance he's going to be successful, and then
at one point it was like zero percent. This guy's
done and now he's back to being considered an MVP
(15:11):
candidate in Tampa Bay. It's been a wild ride with
Baker Mayfield.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
Yeah, it looks like some kind of an earthquake meter, right,
But you know, I think that he by his personalities,
there's a resilience. There's a maturity that he's had. I know,
Colin Coward had been a real critic of his maturity
and and Coward has had to, you know, concede that
(15:37):
the guy really has maturity. Is a playmaker. I mean,
he's a leader. He's feisty, and I when I watch him,
I see a quarterback who plays fast. Everything that he does,
his feeder fast, his release, he plays with that. You
can see that it's almost like he's clenching his teeth.
He makes decisions, he goes to his progressions fast. He
(15:58):
throws the ball hard, the ball goes fast, and I
think at this juncture of his career, you know, he's
just grooving and he's got good targets. Although obviously Mike
Evans the absence of him really helps Seattle, but a
Mecca Buca, the local kid, has really emerged.
Speaker 1 (16:20):
And so I think that.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
They they feel like they have a guy that they
can absolutely win a Super Bowl if obviously look at
how they're playing. But you know, in talking about the
run percentage, the while the Seahawks are second in run
percentage only to Philadelphia, the Buccaneers are dead in the middle.
They're sixteenth at forty three and a half percent run percentage.
(16:47):
But in terms of rush yards differential to Greg's point,
the Buccaneers are sixth. So they still want to win
with Baker Mayfield throwing the ball, but they run it
enough and they are effective enough to have those type
of numbers.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
Yeah, Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers coming into town on
Sunday to take on the Seahawks. So we got a
lot more to discuss in this very very interesting matchup.
I mean, we might even take time to talk about
the uniforms in this game. Sorry, that's a that's a
big story in and of itself. We've got Greg Bell,
We've got Hugh Millan. It's our twelfth Man Roundtable. We
(17:29):
do it every Thursday right here at Sports Radio ninety
three point three kh A r f M.
Speaker 2 (17:33):
It matters of taste, There is no dispute. Sometimes I
kind of chuckle at how people argue about what's the
best flavor of ice cream, or the best song, or
the best anything in style.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
It's mit chip and if anybody thinks otherwise, they're stupid.
That's right, that's right. It's just factually correct. Right, So yeah,
I think they're fine. I don't know. I'm okay.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
They don't seem like the toughest to but you know
enough people that I like love him, so I'm probably missing.
Speaker 1 (18:05):
The boat on it. Well, it's a uniform war. It'll
be both the throwbacks for the Bucks and the Seahawks
on Sunday. All right, Well, let's talk about something that
does fascinate Hugh Millan with this matchup and our twelfth
man roundtable. What's a matchup between these two teams that
has you a little bit concerned heading into Sunday.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
Well, we've talked all summer and into this season that Jalensondell,
I think, on a relative scale to other centers, is
more athletic, like he moves well. I think there's a
quickness to him. I think he's good at getting to
the second level, chasing down. I think he's quick by
NFL standards. He's fast by NFL standards for a center,
(18:48):
but he is from a power standpoint, I think that
he is below certainly below average to my eye, and
you see him just in times where it's just raw power, uh,
you know, he just doesn't hold up. And obviously Videveya
on the opposite side of him, I think when Vida
(19:08):
Vea watches that tape and he sees the power inefficiencies
greg that we've seen from Jalen Sendel, that's a problem.
I think that just the movement and it may not
be that Vidavea might have, you know, might not even
show up on the stat sheet, but if he is
commanding double teams and guys are not able to get
(19:30):
to the second level of the linebackers, those linebackers following
a Levante David Man, he's been there forever. But those
linebackers can flow make the plays. And it's because the
Seahawks have to put extra attention on it. Normally, the timing,
for example, might be Grey Zabel and Jalen Sendel. They're
gonna block for you know, one point one seconds and
(19:51):
then one of them is going to go on to
the linebacker now and this says, no, no, no, you
can't do that. You gotta go. You got a double
team for two seconds. Uh at the at the with Vidavea.
Now that gives the linebacker a chance to flow and
and uh. And the ineffectiveness was created by the via
Videvea Sundell matchup.
Speaker 3 (20:13):
Yeah, that's that's the problem area in this game for
the Seahawks. If I was Todd Bowles and the Buccaneers,
I would slant Videvea off of Sundal and into right
guard Anthony Bradford all game long. And that would that
could disrupt the Seattle's entire offense just doing that. Hugh
and I, Hugh specially talks all the time about if
you get interior pressure in the past game over your
(20:35):
garden center, your quarterbacks sunk. Most players are going to
die quickly. That way, Vitavea can do that. Bradford has struggled.
They don't really have an option beside Bradford. I talked
to Shane Lemieux yesterday, the former started with the Giants
in one year with the Saints last year. I asked
him if he's ready to play just they just signed
about ten days ago. In the practice s club, he
(20:55):
said yes, because he knows John Benton and Kubiak's system
from New Orleans last year year. He could be an option.
Christian Haynes they obviously don't like because they've tried for
two different coaching staffs in three years two years now,
two different line staffs, and he hasn't played now he's
still on injured reserve. The plan McDonald keeps saying is
if they need a new guard or decide to go
(21:16):
away from Bradford, it would be Sundell moving from center
to guard and Oliva Timmy would be the center. That
doesn't sound promising either. Against Vita Vea. They got a
problem there, and whether it's double teams or not, the
two guys that you might double team him with Sondell
and Bradford still might not be able to block Veya.
(21:38):
They they're gonna Hugh talked about their tendencies of not
running as much outside zone as advertised. This might be
the week they get a little more outside zone and
get try to get outside the tackles away from theya.
If they can. I'd keep talking about it. I'd run left.
I don't care if it has tendencies in the whole
league knows that their two best players are on the
left side of the offensive line and Charles Cropp in
(22:00):
Gray's abel, that's their best chance to gain yards away
from where vitave I might be just dominating inside the
game Sunday.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
Well, let's not just have v tove A nightmares going
into Sunday. Let's talk about something where we might have
an advantage. You do you have a spot on the
field where you feel like the Seahawks can take advantage
of something against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
Well, I don't think that they have a great pass rush. Now,
you know, we'll see in a tradition in a traditional sense,
I mean, Hassan Reddick on paper would be their best
their left hand going against Abe Lucas. But I think
that Seattle has been ever since that first game of
the forty nine Ers, Seattle has been reluctant to put
(22:47):
Abe Lucas into one on one situations, and so there's
a lot, a lot of chipping going on to help him.
So I think that I think there may be opportunities
for Sam Donald to get back there. And you know,
now the absence of vedavea push in the middle of
the pocket, as we've discussed. But but but I do
think that the strength of the Tampa Bay defense is
(23:10):
their secondary and uh, you know, I think I think.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
They're pretty good across board.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
They're particularly good in the back end.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
Anton Woodfield Junior is a safety, you know, a lot
of experience and a hell of a playmaker. So you're
gonna have to, uh to contend with him.
Speaker 1 (23:25):
Greg where's your uh, where's your focal point?
Speaker 3 (23:30):
I keep waiting for it. You've asked me a couple
of times. This could be a week that Elijah Royal
steps up and has a big receiving game. The Buccaneers.
Here's right and strength of their defenses in the back.
Todd Bowles is renowned for coverage, disguises and attacking. McDonald
thinks a lot like Bolve does and how they play
defense and press and make offenses decide And if you're
(23:53):
gonna take there, they're gonna rack a coverage and have
a lot of attention on Smith and Jigba Cooper Cupp
in the slot will be focus of them on third down.
Of course, he has been that way for a decade.
That would give an opportunity for you would think for
Elijah Royal. And there are schemes that they have not
even shown that I saw every day in the summer
with Elijah Royal out as an X receiver, out as
(24:16):
a slot put in motion. He's bainly been an in
line tight end in passing situation so far, and you
haven't thrown to him a lot. I think the number
was something like seven receptions for their tight ends combined
and hanging into the Arizona game. Then aj Barner gets
a touchdown against the Cardinals. But Arroyo is going to
break out one of these times because there's a large
(24:37):
portion of the playbook devoted to him. The rookie second
round pick that they haven't used yet, and a team
that's going to be strong in the coverage and probably
spend time on the wide receivers, could be an opportunity
for him down in the middle of the field, away
from the winfields and the good cover guys.
Speaker 2 (24:53):
Yeah, and to that point, Greg for first of all,
the Buccaneers of defense percent of plays with a deep
dB at defensive back rushing the passer twenty three percent.
That's number one in the NFL. Obviously related statistic to
that percentage of plays with seven or more rushers, the
Buccaneer defense is second in the NFL now, the standard
(25:17):
pressures is defined as five or more rushers, So five
plus rushers, the Buccaneers are fifth. So and by the way,
the Seahawks five or more, you know, they're just thirty first.
So there's gonna be quite a discrepancy in terms of
the blitz philosophy in this game. But when you're playing
(25:39):
those man to man defenses, the effectiveness has not always
been there for the Buccaneers. The percentage of we just
talked about the frequency where the Buccaneers are fifth and
the Seahawks are thirty first with five or more rushers,
but the Buccaneers with with a negative EPA the percentage
(26:02):
of plays when you rush five or more and the
offense has a negative EPA, that's expected points average, right,
It's basically a cybermetrics way of defining the success of it.
The Buccaneers, well, their frequency is fifth, their efficiency is
just twenty third is measured by that. The Seahawks are
(26:22):
the exact inverse their frequency. They're thirty first, as I mentioned,
but their effectiveness is second. In the NFL, they're sixty
eight percent of the time when they rush five or
more the offense has a negative EPA. That's double what
the Buccaneers have. And then another point on this with
(26:45):
the Buccaneers, in terms of opponent yards after the catch
per reception, their second actually third to the worst. So
they've had some tackling problems. There's some opportunity for some
run after the so maybe this is a canine getting
an opportunity and in those blitzes. Circling back to Eliza Royal,
(27:07):
I think Eliza Royo's strength is his speed down the field.
I don't like some of the routes that he runs
inside of five or six yards. I think he chatters
his feet too much, his shoulders come up, and he
doesn't utilize his athleticism. But when he can get going
and he has beautiful fluid change of direction, he can accelerate.
(27:28):
He in some ways he looks like a wide receiver
in terms of his movement, but he's all a six'
five when you get next to, him all a six y,
five a good two point. Fifty he's a large. Man
let's see if some of that that plays out when
they when they blitz to the degree that they, are.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
You're gonna get some one on one.
Speaker 2 (27:48):
Situations there may be a linebacker safety who just cannot
keep up With Eliza royal.
Speaker 3 (27:52):
For all the blitzing bulls. Does they only have one
interception and only ten sacks and four. Games to huge,
point they're not being very fish and are effective with.
It that spells opportunities for receivers down the.
Speaker 2 (28:04):
Field but they are number one in tackles for. Loss
so sometimes you, know run, blitzes you, know pass blitzes
are when you overload one. Side as a general, rule
this Is i'm. Generalizing run blitzeres are when you when
you blitz and you fill all the gaps and so
so they've been more effective To greg's, point they've been
(28:24):
more effective in creating havoc in the running. Game again
number one in tackles for, loss but not creating the
type of quote unquote havoc plays in the passing game
that they would LIKE rqiv.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
One you mellon Our seahawks inside Of greg mell with

(28:59):
Casine know where the action never. Stops by the, way
we'll see the creek that. Theater it'd be a great
place to take in all of The seattle sports action
that's gonna be taking place this. Weekend coming up on
the other, side our final segment of the round, table
we'll get, keys we'll get, predictions we'll Get hugh's final
thoughts on the. Game Sports radio ninety three point three
K a R F. M all, right the final segment
(29:20):
of our twelve man round. Table seahawks hosting The. Buccaneers
they're keeping the same start. Time it's not gonna interfere
With Mariner's Playoff. Baseball they've shoved that to A sunday,
night and so one o'clock start in this. Game, bokay
why don't you get a started on keys and a prediction?
Here Seahawks. Buccaneers that's pretty obvious where the key.
Speaker 4 (29:40):
IS i, mean if The seahawks want to, win you'd
better control that guy Named. BUCKY i, mean you go
against A bucky things is.
Speaker 1 (29:48):
Dangerous, well since he's not gonna plays, well that's a good.
Speaker 4 (29:52):
Sign that's a good SIGN i wouldn't. Be, YEAH i
MEAN i, think, HONESTLY i think. It to, me it
kind of goes something THAT i was Hearing hu And
greg talk about was videvea that he. Plays he's a,
disruptor and he plays against the spot that is probably
the weakest spot on something that's still the jury's out
on whether or not it's vastly. IMPROVED i have a
(30:14):
feeling he's gonna be pushing the pocket back a little,
bit and therefore you got to hope That Sam donald's
making plays or That kubiak's getting him on the move
away from where that pressure is coming right back up the,
middle and that he is not turning the ball. OVER
i kind of feel like this is a game that
could go really could go either. Way But i'm gonna
go ahead and keep riding The. SEAHAWKS i Think Sam
(30:36):
donald is. CONTROLLED i think he understands how to run
this whole, thing and So i'm, going, uh twenty one
to Nineteen.
Speaker 1 (30:42):
Seahawks twenty, one Nineteen seahawks over The. Buccaneers, greg what
do you?
Speaker 3 (30:46):
Got, yeah The Bucky irving factor is a big. One
if a one dimensional offense Against mike, McDonald he usually
handles From baltimore and then his short time so far In.
Seattle if they can Make Baker mayfield have to throw
to win and throw, constantly The seahawks are gonna. Win
(31:06):
they're gonna take Out abuka Without Mike evans in there.
A buka is really their top thread to game plan,
against and McDonald will have a probably bracket scheme for
two on. Him but For Kate aughton From tomwater to
have a big game at the tight end, position he's
clutched for them third down receiver. Inside If abuka gets the,
(31:28):
COVERAGE i expect him. To Kate aughton could have a
good game in his. Homecoming BUT i think one dimensional
offense is Against mike McDonald's a bad recipe for some
team kind of come in and beat this. Defense And
bucky's right hughes Right Vita vea has a chance to
disrupt the. Game fortunately for The, seahawks Getting donald away
from him outside Is donald's best. Attribute that's what they
(31:50):
want to do with him. ANYWAY i think that'll be a.
Key they're going to be tough sledding running against this
defense in veya up. FRONT i think another, game we're gonna,
say where's the run? GAME i, Say Sam donald Beats
Baker mayfield in the fourth quarter and they win something
like twenty to sixteen for their fourth straight.
Speaker 1 (32:06):
WIN i love. That it was. Funny And Baker mayfield's
press conference earlier this, week he was asked About Sam
donald and he, said, yeah he's a great. Guy we
were really good buddies when we were In carolina. Together
and they, go do you have any great memories from
that time In carolina with, him.
Speaker 3 (32:21):
From the good old days of The Carolina? Panthers?
Speaker 1 (32:24):
Did he ask, him, Yeah And baker, goes, nope, nope negative.
Speaker 3 (32:28):
Ghost well he, first he, said, first he, said what
kind of days is? There weren't any good old?
Speaker 1 (32:34):
Days all, right you close this. Out what are your
final thoughts on this roundtable as we prepare for The?
Speaker 2 (32:42):
Bucks, well you had asked about matchups and you, know
you're just getting, started and a couple of things we haven't.
DISCUSSED i, think you, Know Tarik, WOOLLAN i don't know
where he is on his. CAREER i feel like on
some level he's he's kind of balancing on the blade
of a. KNIFE i think he's got to pick it.
UP i think that the matchup there had to Been Mike,
(33:04):
evans who's you, know you, know a Borderline hall Of
fame type. Guy he's, out but The buccaneers Get Chris.
GODWIN i think that that's probably better For Tampa. Bay
when you're talking About Rieke, WOOLLEN i think he would
have been better matched against the Taller Mike. Evans but some,
(33:25):
matchups MATCHUPS i like For. Seattle the right tackle for
The buccaneers is a guy Named Charlie. Heck fourth. Rounder
he's in his sixth. Year his first, year HIS pff
grade was at fifty eight and a half and sixty
is basically. Middle every single, year AND i mean every
(33:49):
year including this, year there has been a drop and
now his a drop from the prior. Year now he's
at thirty seven his, grade which is seventy first out
of seventy three. Tackles on the other, Side Tristan wurfs
has been one of the better tackles in. Football he
(34:09):
is also in his sixth. Year he was a thirteenth overall.
Pick every year prior to this year his grade has
been above. Eighty he's always been in the top ten
of all tackles in every single. Year but he had
knee surgery this summer and he started off on the
pup list and his grade of a sixty four is
(34:35):
some twenty points below his. Average SO i think that
when you consider that the tackles on each, SIDE i
think there's going to be some opportunity For seattle's edge
guys to make some plays against.
Speaker 1 (34:46):
Them all, right what.
Speaker 3 (34:46):
Are you talking About Riek. Wilands, yeah they kind of
did him. DIRTY i, MEAN i know part of the
GM's job in the front office job is to generate
trade interest in someone they may want to get rid.
Of but that's someone they, raised, drafted put it as a,
starter made A Pro, bowl and then they leak out
that they want to get him traded and try to
generate trade. INTEREST i saw him in the locker room
yesterday and he was just kind of shaking his. Head,
(35:08):
man that's the dirty pool of the underworkings business in THE.
Speaker 1 (35:13):
Nfl play, better, well you, KNOW i get. IT i with,
you but, man he's just got to play better going
into this. Week all, right, gentlemen awesome job by both of.
You we appreciate, it and we will talk to you
both at some point tomorrow as. Well rock and. Roll all,

he'll be back with us tomorrow as well at his
normal nine o'clock spot On fridays for a little x's
And oh's. Breakdown coming up next, though on our, program
back to The. Mariners that's, Right, greg Go. MARINERS i
want to grade, judge you, know. Gauge. Gauge gauge is
(35:58):
the WORD i was looking for the confidence, level not
in The mariners, overall but we're gonna get more specific
