Ladies beholding six one guard from Brighton, Illinois and former
high school basketball stand what the hell is in me?
Speaker 4 (00:19):
Don't jumped any conclusions, not a.
Speaker 5 (00:22):
God, You've got to lower lower your expectations. Hard to
believe we could once send a fastball to Pluto and.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Get some Bucky Jacobson vibes and former I'll just openly
admit I'm a fat, out of shaped X athlete.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Now there's been a noticeable spike in your blood pressure.
Speaker 5 (00:38):
Five seven guard and a former college water polo national champion.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
There's a lot of useless crap up here.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (00:46):
Right, this is Chuck and Buck in the Morning with
Ashley Ryan, brought to you buy to Lato Casino Resort
and quilsee the Creek DRAFTKINI sports book where the action
never stopped you.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Well, good morning from all of us here at Sports
Radio ninety three point three Kjar. It is the Chuck
and Buck in the Morning Show, but again last day
with no Chuck. He will be back Monday for all
of you that are missing him so dearly. I'm not
but I no no I was speaking to everyone outside
of the people that are in this room, including Palmer.
(01:28):
We do have Palmer the great uh huh. It's always
a good day when when you see Palmer at five
point thirty in the morning.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
I'm going to tell you that right now.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
She can start talking a little trash to you or
yeah yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:39):
And she did. She did.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
We discussed the fact that we're going to see each
other on Saturday at the Husky Duck game and and
she just flat out said, quote, you chose the wrong team.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
I've never been more proud.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
Kids say some awesome stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
By the way, last Bear went got his hair cut yesterday,
day before yesterday, and it looks great. A little crown
of red hair looks good. And yesterday he got out
of the shower to can't and came out and was
saying good night. And I just was like, dude, you're
a handsome little fella. And he's like, well thanks, And
I said, yep, I said, where'd you get that from him?
(02:17):
He's like, I don't know you, and mom, I said, well, yeah,
I used to be handsome and he goes, yeah, you
used to be.
Speaker 4 (02:28):
I'm like too little. You're like wow, yeah, I mean
you're not wrong. I was more handsome at one point
in time.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Never great, It was never a top tier by any
stretch of the imagination. But it was better at one
point in time. And he didn't he didn't hesitate to
let me know that.
Speaker 6 (02:43):
Well, you went on dates and you got to put
your arm around girls in movie theaters.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
So I think he did something right.
Speaker 4 (02:48):
Now, that's true. That is true.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
Those I don't know if those girls would still speak
to me at this point in time.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
Well, that's their loss.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Oh boy, those dates. That takes me back fifth grade.
Tracy Egan, How you doing? I went and got her
a ring at like a payless. It was not a
It was like out of one of the you know,
you put it fifty cents.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
Down, you turned in the thing you got her ring.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
She got me a remote control car that had a
wire attached to it, you know, like it was three
inches long. Oh, it only goes forward and then you
push the backwards button and it goes backwards and turns
to the right.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Did hers also come out of that machine?
Speaker 1 (03:26):
She probably spent more than I did, but mine had
far more sentimental value.
Speaker 4 (03:30):
Right, you meant more?
Speaker 2 (03:31):
Yeah, clearly, I mean obviously Hello, can't she tell?
Speaker 1 (03:35):
Yeah, but it is what it is, and that's why
I broke up. But they're so it bring me some
our she car with a with a it's not even
remote controlled, I mean really, I mean as a wire.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
Attached to it.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Never Yeah, that's that's what good is that.
Speaker 4 (03:50):
To any ridiculous? It is absolutely tracy?
Speaker 1 (03:54):
Uh yeah, yeah, she's uh, she actually is very nice
and we we were great friends all the way through
high school. Idea what she's doing now, Hopefully she's bought
her her husband and significant other, she's bought him something
beyond a remote control car with a wire attacking.
Speaker 4 (04:08):
Can get a real remote otherwise it probably won't last.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
I'm going to tell you that right now. That's a
little hint to my wife Christmas coming up. Do not
get me a remote control car with a wire attached.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
He wants a real one.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
Yeah, I might get you a ring. Say I was
already on par with what you're supposed to do.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
That's true, you learned at an early age.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
You were raised right, yep, yep.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
And I might try to put Marmau on her shoulder
and maybe even get to second base.
Speaker 6 (04:32):
Who knows, right, like my child was who informed you
you chose the wrong one.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
I don't think that is correct. I think that that
was uncalled for, an unnecessary palmer.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
Probably all of those things. Yes, Oh, she wants to
talk to you.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
Hold on, Yeah, it's unnecessary, Palmer. You tell me I
chose the wrong team? You sure about that?
Speaker 6 (04:50):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (04:51):
Did you? Did he choose?
Speaker 5 (04:52):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (04:52):
She couldn't.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Didn't have the headphones?
Speaker 4 (04:54):
Oh I can't hear so good. It's a nice elevate,
fast pitched shirt. She's got on too.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
I don't know how we can't connect your head.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
Okay, well, there is missed an opportunity to talk trash
right there, Palmer.
Speaker 6 (05:07):
All right, yeah, well we'll get this sorted out by
the reason.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
She's ready to rock. So you think I chose the
wrong team? Is that right?
Speaker 6 (05:18):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (05:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (05:19):
Oh really you're certain of that? So you like purple
better than green? Yes? Well do you think all the
trees around here would look better if they're purple?
Speaker 2 (05:30):
I mean, well they trees? I don't know.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
It's a dumb question. Dumb question that duck would ask,
what do you do bownicks on TV?
Speaker 4 (05:41):
I tell you guys to turn it off.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
You're still hating on bow Knicks he didn't even win.
He didn't win against you guys. Still still okay, all right,
Well that's fine, Palmer, you go ahead.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
You just keep that trash talk coming.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
We're actually gonna do something with that a little bit later,
which I'll get into, uh in what's on tap? But
it is duck week, obviously, it's I don't know, there
wasn't a ton of stuff going on in the sports
world last night. We the college football playoff rankings came out.
Will go over that a little bit. It doesn't it's
not a ton of interest for folks around here, considering
the purple team is not in the race for that.
(06:20):
But but we still can discuss it. It's a it's
a big topic, and there's other things that go into
it that does do kind of effect you dub and
the programs around here, the people that the programs that
people cheer for. Uh, duck week though, I mean it's
just a different week. I mean, traditions wise, did you
change anything, Like I didn't take a picture I meant
to this morning when I was leaving. They weren't on
(06:43):
last night. No no, no, no, no, no, no green
and yellow lights. I don't have purple and gold I
did that one time for the Hermerston Bulldogs.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Why'd you really do it?
Speaker 1 (06:53):
Because I lost a bet and I think that was
a bon Nicks situation. Palmer Yeah to me, she's just
sitting back there laughing, Oh yeah, you lost.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
You had to change.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
I did, But I genuinely just told myself, that's not
husky colors. Those are worms and bulldog cuts.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
However you get, you know, tell yourself to get through
the day.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
I did.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
I did have to tell myself that and immediately changed
it after the week went by that I had to
keep them on. But they're back to green and yellow.
And I have one neighbor, Eric that walks down the road,
big time Husky fan, big time Husky fan, and he'll
stop and we talk and it's very cordial and and
we'll have good conversations about ducks and or mostly about huskies.
But then it gets to this time of year and
(07:35):
he gifts, gets a little sour, and so the lights
are really just for him, I mean, and I mean
guess they're for me more than because they've been Mariner
colors for the last six months. Blue and yellow, the
old school man. Yeah, And so I didn't change them.
I Actually, when I did it, I thought to myself,
should I really be changing it right now?
Speaker 4 (07:57):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Yeah, you don't want to jink some When did you
age it?
Speaker 4 (08:02):
Two weeks ago? Okay before the USC game.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
Actually I mean not right before, but it was I
didn't want to wait until right before this one because
I actually had changed him to orange and blue after
the Mariner.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
Yeah, season had a little break, I.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
Had a little just Bronco time, and then it was
then it was duck time. And so now it's duck time.
But it is Duck week, and it's a big week
for folks around here. Not as big as what we
witnessed and experienced a couple of few years ago, when
you know, both teams were fighting for the national championship
like you were talking about yesterday, But still traditions, and
I don't have the normal tradition that I that Benny
(08:40):
and I usually go to the game together. He's a
big U Dub fan and season ticket holder. And yet
he's got his kids, got a soccer game that he
can't miss.
Speaker 6 (08:47):
And so it soccer ruins everything I'm telling you, doesn't it.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
I mean it's like for kids.
Speaker 6 (08:52):
I have the amount of people that can't do sporting
events on weekends anymore because their kid has soccer.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
It's incredible.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
Yeah, so far, bears, soccer is not interfered with my
life in a negative way. But when it does, you
will be done playing that sport because you're not gonna
be a soccer player.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
Give me a baseball player. Yeah, it's something what you
were born into.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
Yeah, that's what he does. Say that a lot, so
when I'm playing for the Mariners, as if it's just like, yeah,
that just happens.
Speaker 4 (09:18):
For sure.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
You got to manifest it. You gotta think that way.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
Well, I'm not going to squash it. You go, kid,
get some work to do. I'll tell you that right now.
But do you have any traditions that you're got going
on any I mean, you're about the most superstitious person
on the planet.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
I am.
Speaker 6 (09:32):
But okay, on that note, though, I have really been
trying hard to think about, like do I need to
be that superstitious anymore? Because what we didn't win the
World Series and I didn't and I was, I mean,
my superstitions were out of control in that last month
of baseball, so I mean I was wearing the same
shirt and then if we lost, I'd switch to another
(09:55):
shirt and then that one would get worn till we
lost again. I I was wearing the same socks, I believe.
I mean, I would wash them, but it was I
was it was taking over my whole life, and I thought,
you know what, maybe that was too much.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
Maybe I need to look at you.
Speaker 6 (10:12):
Dial it back a little bit. Although at the time
I felt like I had no control over it. It was
just I didn't want to be the one that was
responsible for the Mariners loucing in this case. I would say,
if if like a couple of years ago, when it
was Pennix and the Doneesday and you know, Kaylin de
Boor and Ryan Grubb and we were heading to the
National Championship that year, I was definitely more superstitious. I
(10:35):
think the superstitions just increase with the success of a team. Yeah,
and that's how it gets out of control. I'm like, well,
now what am I supposed to do?
Speaker 5 (10:43):
You know?
Speaker 1 (10:44):
Yeah, well, I think there's more hanging on every every
every game, every play, every game, there's more hanging on it.
And ultimately, yes, when you're winning, you just stick with
what's winning. It's like when you're losing it's actually time
to switch stuff up, so it doesn't really even feel
like it's superstitious, even though it is if you go
so far as you like, well, we're not winning, so Eric,
we didn't win last week, so I can't wear this hoodie.
Speaker 6 (11:06):
Yes, correct, Like there are certain things that I was like, oh,
I can't do that again.
Speaker 4 (11:11):
Yeah, yeah, but I don't have that yeah.
Speaker 6 (11:13):
And I again, I recognize the ridiculousness of it. So
at least I've got that going for me. So in
this case, I don't think there's a lot of tradition.
I mean, usually we take you know, some good friends
to this game because it's always I mean, or you know,
Washington organ is one of the biggest games of the
year every year, but this year will be Palmer's first
(11:34):
year going to this one.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
She asked if she could come to the Oregon game.
I was nervous for a while. I said, I don't know.
Speaker 6 (11:39):
I got to think about it because I just know
how Oregon games can be at times. People get a
little testy, lit feisty. But I don't mind it because
we're in our home stadium now. She ever asked to
go to Otson, I would I'd never take her as
a child. She could go as an adult on her own.
But I've been to Oughtson and I wouldn't go back.
(12:00):
So yeah, it was a terrible experience.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
Yeah, we've talked about that before and I've been there
a few times and obviously never had any negative situations.
And again I've never had any I've had one bad
situation at a sporting event. It was at a Seahawks game.
It was a preseason game, preseason. Yeah, well I've been
to other games.
Speaker 6 (12:21):
No what I'm saying, but like, who's getting mad at
people at preseason?
Speaker 4 (12:23):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (12:24):
Well it was it was a preseason game. How many
years ago was this boy had to be ten fifteen
years ago probably, and it was early on. Max Strong
was the full back. I remember because he came through
and blew up one of the Broncos defensive ends.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
What was his name?
Speaker 1 (12:41):
He was a rookie from Cincinnati. Anyway, it slips my
mind right now, but he blew him up, and all
of a sudden he's down motionless on the field. Ambulance
comes out backboard the whole thing, and as they're driving
him off, or actually as they were rolling him up
into the ambulance, this dude standing in front of me,
He's like, get him a body bag, Johnny like, and
(13:03):
so I just like, dude, don't cheer for don't cheer
for injuries, right, I mean like cheering against the other
teams fine, obviously, and cheering four your teams, but don't
you don't cheer for people they're getting carted off and
putting an ambulance.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
Right, that's the person that can't recognize they're actually humans.
Speaker 4 (13:19):
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
And he didn't like that, told me to shut up
and he'll do what he wants, and and at that
point it got a little bit heated. I it was
actually the first day that I'd met my now brother
in law. He wasn't my brother, and it was Kate's brother, Yeah,
who's a marine, and uh it basically we kind of
looked at each other like, is this is this gonna happen?
Like it might have been that.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
First Are we about to go?
Speaker 4 (13:42):
Are we are you my brother? Are we gonna? Are
we gonna beat this guy senseless? Right now?
Speaker 1 (13:48):
And we didn't, And nothing ended up happening of it.
He ended up not doing saying anything stupid like that. Again,
then again, there was never there was no more people
hauled out on an ambulance. So, uh, you know, it
is what it is. And and yet I've never had
that at odds and I've never even seen people doing it,
but I've heard enough stories. Yeah there's some a holes
down there that have gotten carried away, and that's important everywhere.
Speaker 4 (14:11):
Yeah, there is. It just is a matter.
Speaker 1 (14:13):
I mean, I guess if you pile fifty seventy thousand
people into something, you're bound to have some bad apples.
It's just unfortunate that you would even have the thought
of I couldn't take my daughter, Yeah, my young daughter
down to a game. There just is something that could
potentially go negative. Like I don't have that fear, for
whatever reason, taken bar into Husky Stadium on Saturday.
Speaker 4 (14:36):
I don't have.
Speaker 1 (14:36):
I don't have the slightest fear of something going on.
There could be some trash talk.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
And that's fine trash talk.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
Yeah, No, it's actually welcomed. And yeah, it's part of
what makes the fun cheering for your team fun.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
And so in the Arrivalry game especially.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
Yeah, exactly, you know, I do want to go. I mean,
we got a few minutes left and I was going
to talk about you know, I think there's probably four
ways that this game can go on Saturday, right, I mean,
you could basically, and I think the most probable is
an Oregon or Husky win in a close game. Those
(15:11):
are the probably the two most probable. And then obviously
there could be a blowout win either way. Those two
other possibilities. Hugh had kind of brought up the other
day the Mike Leech conversation, and I don't want to
start down a path of by any stretch coming out
as if I don't want Jedfish here necessarily or anything
(15:34):
like that, or or or fuel in the fire of
is he leaving.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
He's kind of came out and said, this is where
I'm at now.
Speaker 6 (15:40):
Although you think yesterday came out as a favorite to
take the Florida job, happens every year.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
It's no fault of him.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
Yeah, it happens every year. And so I do think that.
I mean, that's kind of the tipping off point. We'll
probably go into this little bit more next segment, but
I wanted to just kind of start getting into the
conversation of how where Hugh was he He was bringing
up the idea of you know, some folks out there
like just extend him now, like you just like kind
of lock him in, so to speak, even though you
(16:07):
can't really except for you can you can make money
to where he won't want to go anywhere, or you
can make it to where if he leaves, then there's
penalties and and and whatnot. And yet I'm wondering if
the out of these four possible outcomes, if there's a
couple of them, or if there's one of them in particular,
that would maybe change people's minds, right, I mean, you're
(16:28):
it's a it's a weird situation to be and I
think we as a show last year he ends up
going six and seven, but that's after you lost you know,
ten guys to the NFL, and you basically have the
turnover that happens when a coach leaves. It was on
the heels of Kaylin de Bor's tenure here where he
went twenty five and three and was a National Championship contender,
(16:51):
I mean, the runner up one year and really doing
some big things. And so I think it was it
was kind of a pass was granted in year one.
And yet I am curious from a Husky fan, how
you're feeling at this point I mean eight and three
is not a bad you know, up until that their
last loss, you kind of thought, hey, there's a backdoor
(17:12):
way where they could you know, upset Oregon and find
themselves possibly in this playoff conversation that is going on.
Speaker 4 (17:19):
And so I'm wondering, you know, just.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
The idea of whether or not the outcome, if there
could be an outcome this weekend that would make you think, Okay,
I'm ready. That would maybe change your mind sway your
decision or what you're thinking.
Speaker 4 (17:34):
More in one way or another.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
Where I mean, if there was a blowout this weekend
and not in the Husky's favor, would you be like,
you know what, go to Florida or go to wherever?
Or do you not want to upset the Apple carte
just simply because of one game or what? What are
your thoughts on what this guy's tenure has been so far,
because I think it's interesting because I think some people's
(17:57):
opinions could be swayed depending on how this game goes
on Saturday.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
Yeah, and I think they could.
Speaker 6 (18:02):
I think the I think if they got blown out
and embarrassed, then people would probably be angry. I think
if they blew out the Ducks. Yeah, people, there would
be a group of people saying, yeah, sign him up,
keep him here, because that game was important.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
Look what he just did against a big team.
Speaker 6 (18:23):
My thought is there's not really any outcome that would
change my opinion because if they blew, if the Dogs
blow the Ducks out, it just continues the inconsistencies we've
seen this season. I mean, you still can't take back
that Wisconsin loss, right, And I understand it was terrible weather,
but we were I mean that week, the week before
(18:46):
the Wisconsin game kind of came as a surprise because
it was like, oh my gosh, all of a sudden,
look what we could do. And you're you really didn't
think that this team had played that way, that in
a way that they could be somehow working themselves into
a college football playoff. In my opinion, I'd watched games,
I didn't really think there was any possibility of that
conversation even happening this season, So when it did, it
(19:08):
was a surprise.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
Then they go and it's a total letdown in Wisconsin.
Speaker 6 (19:11):
Now do I think after that game he should have
been like it was like, no, let him go.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
We don't need him. No, not at all.
Speaker 6 (19:17):
I just think that this team is exactly that they
are inconsistent, and so there's no part of whatever happens
to or not tomorrow Saturday that would change how I
feel about Jedfish. I'm fine with him here. If he
wants to go, I'm fine with him going. But I
think that that is just how I now view college
(19:38):
coaches too. Okay, I don't think that's a direct result
of just Jedfish.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
Right, unless they're unless unless they're doing like what Kaylen,
the Kaitlin de Boor thing hurt because of the fact
that he went twenty five in the three.
Speaker 6 (19:51):
And he just endeared himself so intensely to everybody so quickly.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
Yeah, I mean it's at this point I think the
jury's out. That would be I thought, and I think
that would be most Husky fans thought. I know, we've
seen some stuff on the text language. Some people like
just go get out here because they don't like the
Wisconsin loss, or are they? And then the other's like,
don't let them go because you don't want to The
turnover thing is not good. You don't want to have
(20:16):
it happen every two years for a ten year period
because then you do get looked at as a stepping
stone where people are just using it as a step
up from where they were in hopes to get what
where they want to go, and that's definitely not where.
Speaker 4 (20:28):
We want to go.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
We'll talk about that a little more in the next segment,
but we need to get to what's on tap?
Speaker 6 (20:33):
Well?
Speaker 4 (20:36):
What's on tap? What's on tap? Well?
Speaker 1 (20:39):
The college football playoff rankings came out last night, not
a bunch of shake up. The Ducks who are coming
into town to face your beloved Huskies did move up
one more spot. That's uh, every week they've moved up
one spot. Miami was the big kind of talking point
and it is going to continue to be the big
talking point, I think because of the head to head
against them and Notre Dame. But they ended up moving
(21:01):
up all the way to the twelve spot. Now that
doesn't put them in the twelve team playoff at this
point because they're probably not going to get into the
a SEC Championship and all of the stuff that goes
into that, and yet they're climbing closer to that where
now they're in that same group and being talked about
in the same group, but playing and simple the committee
just doesn't think Miami is better.
Speaker 4 (21:21):
Than Notre Dame, even though Notre Dame beat him head
to head.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
Well, well we'll have a conversation about that at six
forty five. Like we already started talking about the Huskies
Ducks they play. At twelve thirty, we are going to
be tailgating with Palmer the Great.
Speaker 4 (21:35):
That's going to be wonderful.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
She's already talked trash this morning before six am. Probably
the earliest I've ever had trash talk to me ever
in my life. She just flat out told me, quote,
you chose the wrong team. Okay, that's great. Good to know.
Speaker 4 (21:50):
It is going to be quite the day.
Speaker 1 (21:51):
We are going to have Mike Sando on at seven
no Greg Bell, so we'll get a little NFL outside
of Seattle and some inside Seattle from Mike Sando.
Speaker 4 (22:00):
We got our Factor fiction pick. Ashley's turned again to
end up.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
Before we head off to Thanksgiving, we're gonna open up
the trash talk lines a little bit. Okay, So if
you want to a couple of different things, I want a.
Speaker 4 (22:13):
Good and a bat.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
I want you to to give thanks something you're thankful for,
and you can go ahead and talk trash to me
all you want, or if you're a dog, you can
talk trash to Ashley and Palmer. Matter of fact, give
it to Palmer. She she came in here smoking hot
with her trash talk. Go ahead and give Palmer a
little one too. I don't think we'll get one person
talking trash to Palmer.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
She can handle some. But it's gotta be fun.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
Yeah, well, we can pick and choose what she is
here and then uh, and then we're gonna basically finish
this thing off the last couple of hours. We're gonna
have a Huskies round table with the one and only
Softy and the Ginger. I'd like to call my brother
Cam Cleveland, but he's not my brother, not not for
the next few days. He's not just can't He's just
Cam Wow. He just Cam Cleveland. Such Softy and Cam.
(23:01):
And then we're gonna in the final hour, nine o'clock
all the way to where when we get off, we're
going to have a Seahawks around tip.
Speaker 4 (23:08):
We're gonna have Hugh and Greg Bell with us.
Speaker 1 (23:10):
So on the other side of this, I want to
get into what we think the most probable outcome is
coming up on Saturday.
Speaker 4 (23:17):
Stick around here at ninety three point three KJRFM.
Speaker 1 (23:20):
Concentrating on being thankful versus being irritated with people that
just camp in the left lane.
Speaker 4 (23:26):
It's fine, I mean coming annoying.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
No, it's annoying, but it's fine for me at five
am because I just go around whether it's right left,
They don't stop me. Yeah, it's just I typically am
driving by them, going what are you doing? Like, what
are you what planning? Where'd you learn how to drive?
Like there's rules to this whole thing and you don't
get them. And so I typically am more irritated. Today
(23:52):
I was trying to win that would bubble up inside.
I was trying to be thankful about something. So I
need to probably maybe adopt Thanksgiving attitude. I don't know
some of the other days of the year would be beneficial.
Speaker 6 (24:06):
Yeah, let's start with just around Thanksgiving and build from there.
Speaker 4 (24:09):
Okay, let's see if it'll grow. Yeah, all right, good idea.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
I did text or Teas that we were going to
talk more about that whole jetfish, and I think we
maybe covered that. We're gonna we'll get into it a
little bit more during the Huskies roundtable from up to nine,
the Jetfish and also the how we think this game
is going to go right, like what we think the
most probable outcomes are going to be. But I think
here I wanted to talk a little bit more about
(24:33):
the Seahawks and and the pros and cons we got.
You know, I don't know if we're in the stretch drive,
but it kind of feels like it when you're in
a tight race like the Seahawks are at this point
in time, where I mean, you're one game behind the Rams,
maybe call it a game in half, but you don't
have to add that half game because of the tiebreaker
at this point simply because you get to play them
(24:56):
again and so you got to win that next one
against them. But it's such a tight race, I think
that the conversation of what we like, what we don't like,
or what we hope that they improve upon is important
because I mean, there's not too many divisions that have
you know, the top three teams have nine, eight and
eight wins, so you're in a bit of a dog fight,
and so I'm sure that they understand the importance of
(25:19):
every single game. Every fan does. And yet what are
your thoughts, I mean to me, kind of a jumping
off point. Offensively, they're ranked third best in the entire
NFL behind Indian Detroit as far as points per game go. Defensively,
they're ranked seventh. Just that on its face, right, I Mean,
you obviously you can dive into way more stats and
get way more information and and and get a little
(25:41):
bit more precise. But I think that that's a good recipe.
If you're the third best at scoring points and the
seventh best at not allowing points, I think.
Speaker 4 (25:51):
That that's a pretty good recipe.
Speaker 1 (25:52):
So what so far at this point and moving forward
to the end of the year and through the playoffs,
what is it that you're liking most about the Seahawks
And is there anything that you're really wanting them to
make sure they button up?
Speaker 6 (26:04):
I mean, I think what I'm liking most is the
defense for the most part, aside from those mistackles, which
we're going to attribute to the fact that there's been
injuries and people filling in. So I'm just gonna hope
that that as these injuries, you know, clear up, that
that's not going to be an issue.
Speaker 2 (26:21):
I'm hoping that Ernest Jones comes back.
Speaker 6 (26:24):
We'll find out today if Julian Love is coming off
the ir so that could make a big difference as well.
So defensively, overall, I'm not worried about anything. The only
place where I would like to see it change defensively
is in forcing more turnovers, because in terms of turnover differential,
we're twenty ninth or minus seven, I believe, And now
(26:46):
that I said that, I've pulled away from the page,
Yeah we are, yeah, minus seven. So that especially for
a team that I feel like in the past, granted
it wasn't always under Mike McDonald, but we're used to
seeing a defense that can make big plays and that
can get the ball, and so I would love to
see that happen again as these injuries clear up. Offensively,
it's it's just the run game that is where my
(27:06):
concern is. And obviously, yes, we've had some times where
Sam Darnold has had these questionable turnovers, which isn't helping
our turnover differential in any way. But it's the run
game because we are seventeenth in rush yards per game, which, yeah,
middle of the pack, but for a team that keeps
touting that we're going to run the ball, we shouldn't
be seventeenth.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
Right, I mean, what I was watching the Monday night
football game San Francisco against the Panthers, and San Francisco's
dinged up, I mean more, even more than the Seahawks are,
and everybody's dinged up. So you have to That's just
part of the deal. Part of the equation is your
next man up. How good is your depth? Now, you
lose a quarterback, that's a different ballgame. You lose a
(27:48):
starting running back, that is more detrimental. If you were
to lose a guy that's you know, doing crazy things
anywhere offensively, defensively, it can hurt more than just your
typical Hey, you're gonna have you got twenty you've got
to have twenty one or twenty two starters, and you're
gonna have one or two that aren't going to be
in every single week. If it's not the most important places,
(28:10):
you've got to figure out a way to overcome that.
If you can't overcome missing an Ernest Jones, for example,
which is important, yep, but it's not like losing your
starting quarterback.
Speaker 4 (28:20):
Everybody would agree to that.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
If you can overcome that from week to week, then
you're not good enough to be considered with the teams
that are up there. And so I think San Francisco
when I'm watching them. You know, Christian McCaffrey's different, but
the fact that they just continue to get him the ball, right,
he's a playmaker, he does extraordinary things, and he touched
(28:44):
about thirty one times in that game. I'm sitting there
thinking myself, like, what was the last time that ken
Walker just got to twenty? Yeah, because if you get
to twenty versus twelve or thirteen, that's seven more you.
I mean, Christian McCaffrey. Again, he's different. I guess maybe
I shouldn't put ken Walker in that category of him.
(29:06):
He hasn't done what Christian McCaffrey has, and yet he
also hasn't been given the opportunity. If you gave him
fifteen more touches a game, that's a lot. Yeah, And
they're trying to keep him healthy for the whole season,
and that makes sense. Maybe that's part of the reason
that forty nine ers are dinged up and that Christian
McCaffrey doesn't stay healthy typically is that they overhewse him.
So I could be speaking out both sides of my mouth,
(29:27):
but it just kind of feels like you're not going
to get what you want out of him. If you
don't just kind of feed.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
Him, you gotta let him wear down the defense.
Speaker 4 (29:35):
Yeah, to some degree, And so I agree with you.
I think that is one concern.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
I think one of the pros is just, I mean,
flat out the way that Sam Donald outside of the
four interception game, the way that he's delivering the football,
the way that he's managing the offense. I mean, I
thought that there was going to be an upgrade when
you went to Sam Donald over Gino. Yeah. I didn't
think it would upgrade you to the third best offense
(30:00):
in football. I didn't think that he was going to
do that, even even coming off of last year that
I kind of threw the last couple of games away
with the grain of salt. I think the Rams are
good and they can put pressure on a bunch of people.
The Detroit game, maybe not, Maybe there was some more
unforced airs there, but I did not see him, and
most certainly I did not see Jackson, Jackson Smith and
(30:21):
Jig but blowing the rest of the receivers in the
NFL out of the water.
Speaker 2 (30:24):
So that's definitely the most positive thing, yeah.
Speaker 4 (30:26):
For sure.
Speaker 1 (30:27):
And yet the guy delivering that ball is Sam Darnold,
and so I think there's a lot of pros. I
think the bottom line the recipe if you're you know,
if you're in the top seven in both offense and
defense and seven from each league basically get into the playoffs.
I think you're you're looking pretty good right now, and
yet you got some competition in the NFC West night,
so they're going to have to continue to.
Speaker 4 (30:46):
Uh figure that out. I am real quick.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
We do have that Tito's Tailgates talkback contest coming up
at seven o'clock, So stick around and you're gonna be able.
Speaker 4 (30:56):
To figure out.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
I'll give you a keyword and you can go to
the talkback thing and figure out if maybe you get
a chance to win that big sixty five inch TV.
On the other side of the break, we're gonna dive
into the college football rankings that came out for not
the last time. We got one more December second, and
another one on the final one on December seventh. We'll
dive into that a little bit more right here at
Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM. And now you guys,
(31:18):
welcome back into the show. It's Chucking Buck in the morning.
No Chuck he'll be back on Monday. Ashley and I
are holding it down with the help of Palmer the Great. Obviously,
we've been discussing a lot of college football and some
Thanksgiving stuff. We did touch on a little bit of
Seahawks stuff last segment, and we're gonna we're gonna have
a whole bunch of stuff coming on in the eight
(31:38):
to nine o'clock hour with a Huskies roundtable from eight
to nine and a Seahawks round table from nine to ten.
And so we're just kind of breaking some stuff down
a little bit, a little bit at a time here,
and I did want to dive into just for a
few minutes. The college football playoff rankings came out again
last night. I think it's our fourth one. There'll be
(32:00):
two more after this. December second will be the penultimate,
and then Sunday, December seventh, at noon will be the
final one.
Speaker 4 (32:08):
And it's coming down to the nitty gritty where you know.
Speaker 1 (32:12):
Last week was a lot of holding serves, so to speak.
The biggest game was the Oregon USC game where the
Ducks took care of business and so they climbed up
another spot to the six spot. That really was the
only big shake up the one through five Ohio State
State at number one, Indiana at two, Texas A and
M at three, Georgia at four, and Texas Tech at
(32:35):
at five. That was basically that was all the same.
Then the it was just the Oregon and Ole Miss
switching spots at six and seven there before you get
down into the bottom part of this where that is
really I mean, depending on your rooting interest, you care
about teams up there higher.
Speaker 4 (32:53):
But the big one is are you in or you out? Yeah?
And you know, the big.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
Topic basically on ESPN and every other sports show is
that whole Miami thing. And we got some dude that
comes on the show after us who loves to talk
about Miami football, like anybody cares.
Speaker 4 (33:09):
I don't care.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
I just am curious to how you think this is
going to shake out. They basically what they're coming down
to in Miami still is the biggest mover At the
beginning of this thing. They were eighteenth, so they weren't
not they weren't the first team out, yeah, and understandably
so you lost to Louisville and you lost to SMU yep.
(33:30):
And it's not like you have some juggernaut of a schedule.
There's a reason why Alabama is in front of you
because they have two losses as well, but they play
in the SEC, and it's better.
Speaker 4 (33:41):
Than the AGE.
Speaker 2 (33:42):
He's always going to get more credit, yes.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
And so you know, I think the argument is, well,
Notre Dame doesn't play in any conference, let alone not
They don't play in the SEC, they don't play in
the Big Ten, they don't play in any of the conferences,
and and you beat them head to head. And so
it is that conversation which I think sometimes Chuck thinks
that I just think head matters, which isn't true. I
(34:07):
think that head to head should matter, and I think
that it will matter, but I don't think it's the
ultimate like, well, if you have the same record, head
to head is all that matters.
Speaker 4 (34:19):
It most certainly is not.
Speaker 1 (34:20):
I think that that conversation is one that's going to
be fun to be had.
Speaker 4 (34:25):
I don't know for sure.
Speaker 1 (34:26):
I mean when you just start looking down the list
of all the teams that I mean, there is a
bunch of teams that are going to be on the
outside looking in when it comes to you know, you
got what you want? You have two, three eleven and
oh teams four ten and one teams, and then I
mean it's a list five ten one teams if you
(34:47):
include b YU and then one, two, three, four, five, six,
seven more teams all the way down to Michigan at
fifteenth that are nine and two. So it's not like
everybody's out to get the Miami Hurricanes. There's reason as
to why there's a debate where they're at. And as
of right now, they would be in that twelfth spot
(35:09):
I think, or eleventh spot.
Speaker 4 (35:10):
It would be. Actually Miami against Oregon.
Speaker 2 (35:13):
Would be twelve right now. Yeah, I wasna say it's
Miami versus Oregon the way it's laid out right.
Speaker 1 (35:17):
Now, which would be great. I would be all for
Crystal Baal versus Landing. I would be all about that,
and it would give me yeah, because I didn't ever
really dislike Miami, but I do now, and so I
would be all for that one.
Speaker 4 (35:30):
And yet they are not. It's not likely they get
to the.
Speaker 1 (35:34):
ACC's Championship, and so they're not going to have that
game that some people like Oregon. Rick Newis said yesterday,
Oregon pretty much doesn't want to get to that.
Speaker 2 (35:44):
They got a better path if they avoid it.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
Yeah, I mean you could if you got there, then
you could possibly bump up in to get a bye,
but you would have basically play an extra game to
hope that you get a buye, whereas or you just
get a bye during championship weekend, the conference championship weekend,
and then you get to host a game against a
team whoever is that would be coming in slotted in
(36:07):
at this point, like I said, it would be Miami,
but there's that that spot is probably going to go
to the champion of the ACC and that's not going
to be Miami, chances are, because they're they're just not
up there on that list when it comes to the ACC.
I mean that Virginia and Pittsburgh and SMU are ahead
of them. Now, Miami's ranked above all those teams, but
(36:30):
they're they're behind them as far as the standings go.
So very interesting situation, very interesting conversation. I'm sure we
will dive into it a little bit on the roundtable,
but not a whole ton on the.
Speaker 4 (36:41):
Other side of this thing.
Speaker 1 (36:43):
Stick around, we're going to give that keyword away for
the Tito's Talkback contest that where we're giving away some
giving away a TV and then We're going to talk
to Mike Sando here at Sports Radio ninety three point
three KJRFM,
