Speaker 1 (00:12):
Great morning to you. It is Chuck Bowlin Ashley Ryan
with a wonderful poofball hat that she's wearing here today
indeed indoors.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Yeah, because my head got cold.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
Yeah, I had it on when I left the house,
and then I got warm in the car, so I
took it off, and then I knew I'd get cold
again sitting here, because that's what happens in this ice box.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
It is a really nice hat. But out of the
corner of my eye, I thought that Ashley had bandaged
her head.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Thought I'd probably run into a wall.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
Like in the cartoons where they immediately they hit the
wall and then they've got a bandage on.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Their ads, all wrapped up.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
I'm like, what happened? You were just in here talking
to me, and then by the time you got back
in there, you fell went to the nurse's office. Huh,
you got a bandage head and then you were Did
I miss some time?
Speaker 2 (00:58):
And like our medical staff is excellent here.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Yes, yeah, we lack a lot of areas here in iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
But no hr medical staff though.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
They will swaddle your head with the will no question
about it. All right, nine o'clock hour, man, we've had
a lot on the Philip Rivers today thanks to Kerr Warner,
thanks to Hugh Mellon, thanks to Greg Bell, and Mike
Sander is going to join us a nine point thirty
to talk more about that as well. But there's another
big story going on out there, one that's kind of
shook the foundation of college football once again. For the
(01:31):
actual information, Sharon Moore, the head coach at Michigan who
took over for Jim Harbaugh following the National Championship game. Well,
he was there for two years and he won't be
there any longer. Yesterday he was fired. It was a surprise,
and it was with Haus. I almost even felt at
the time like Michigan feels two years into this that
(01:54):
maybe Ohio State's getting too big of a lead over them,
and they're like, we need to get one of these
big guy now. And then they kind of concocted some
story to try to get Sharon Moore out so they
didn't have to pay him. But no, there's substantive reason
for why they let him go. We don't know all
the details, and I'm not going to go as far
(02:16):
as speculating, but what we do know is an inappropriate
relationship with a staff member and that led to his dismissal.
And then Sharon went home to a wife that had
heard the rumors, and there was a domestic situation that
took place, and before the night came to a close,
(02:37):
Sharon Moore had committed not just breaking and entering, but
also aggravated assault charge as well. So he went to
someone's house. People are reading into it as maybe the
person that snitched on.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
Him, Yeah, I've heard that, or the person who he
was having the relationship. Maybe maybe one or the other.
Maybe that is the case as well.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
But nonetheless, he ended up after getting firing, being arrested
and is still in custody. So obviously some pretty serious charges.
Somebody as famous as Sharon Moore with that kind of
money usually is out of jail by now, but their
charges are serious enough that he is still in custody
right now. So I think that probably ends the portion
(03:23):
of speculation that we need to do because it is
affecting us here in Washington, and one hell of a
twist man. Immediately, the names that have come up, and
I thought when I first heard the names that they
were part of a long list. You know, this is
one of the most coveted jobs in football, certainly in
(03:45):
college football, and so I knew that the speculation immediately
would kick in and the story would come a lot
more about even though that's a fantastic story, people are
going to be a lot more concerned about who's going
to replace Sharon more than the future of char own more.
And so I thought initially what I was hearing when
(04:06):
both Kaylan de Boor and Jedfish were being listed was
they were part of a large list.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
Yeah, these would be great possibilities, like five or six.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Yeah, maybe ken to twelve, Yeah, not one to two,
not the entire list.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
Yeah, that list sucks.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Because by the time I woke up this morning, it
was only Kaylan de Boor and Jedfish and also Mentor,
the defensive coordinator there at Michigan. Young guy with a
really bright future. But really, the speculation is that there's
no way that the Jim Harbaugh era is continuing at Michigan.
This is now the second scandal that has been involved
(04:46):
with Sharon Moore, and so they believe they want new blood,
and not just any old new blood. They're going to
want a huge name in college football because they are
losing ground to their rival, Ohio State and others here
the life a couple of years. So that said, I
wake up this morning to who's going to be the
next Michigan head coach? Kaylin de Boor or Jedfish. You've
(05:10):
got to be kidding.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
Me, And that's it.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
Yeah, I mean I was listening on the way in
and there was a guy from Detroit talking and he said, well,
de Boor, you know, it's he's not a good fit
at Alabama and he'd be better, but he wants to
go back to the Midwest.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
And he was sounding like.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
Someone who really, you know, is aware that Debor might
not be happy or I mean, he doesn't look happy.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
He looks happier, but not happy.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
He doesn't look like he doesn't look like he looked here.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Yeah, exactly, And and then the other one was or
but Jedfish and then they can just raid Washington's program.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
I was like, come on now, man, and.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
That's what will happen.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
And that's what sucks about college football these days.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
It's like it's already hard enough to be a college
football fan of a team that really there's no loyalty
anymore because you can't get attached to a player you
can't get attached to a coach. But if every couple years,
you're just having to start all all over. And I
understand nowadays with all the NYE all money, it can
happen fast, but I don't know. It's just my love
(06:06):
for college football is has been declining in the last
couple of years, and if this happens again, it's gonna I've.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Heard that a lot from people, and I understand why.
I mean, number one, you liked college football, and we've
gone through such massive changes that that already was shaking
you at your core. I mean, we're not even in
the conference we use you. College kids are getting paid money.
That's that's unfamiliar. Bowl games are going the way of
(06:36):
the dinosaur at this point. So there are a lot
of things that people loved about college football, the purity
of the sport, all of those things that they talked
themselves into. But it was the foundation for lifetimes of
fandom of the college football product. And and you know,
(06:59):
and I have spent a lifetime loving college football. And
now we also have had these ripple effects of things
that we didn't see coming, Like, okay, we've managed the nil.
Turns out it wasn't as bad as what we thought,
or at least that's the mode we're in right now.
Who knows how it twists and turns. We managed the
(07:21):
bowl games, this college tournament pretty cool and it is
adding quite a bit to the daily conversation during the
college football season. But there have been other things that
were unforeseen, and you know, the transfer portals turned in
a little bit to free agency, which people can moan
about it, and yet it is any attention is good attention.
(07:44):
You always heard that in marketing class.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
That's what they say.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
The product's flying high. Yeah, the interest is flying high.
So even though I'm hearing more and more people say
that they're that is this is all testing their college
football fandom, apparently it's gaining a lot more fans that
were just casual fans. Well because the drama, the players shuffle,
(08:07):
the coach shuffle, the going from bowl games to a
tournament shuffle has brought in a lot of eyeballs and
it not only has not affected the product. The product
seems to be better than ever. Doesn't mean that it's sustainable,
because it does seem I'm with all the people that
are soured and turned off a little bit right now.
I understand it's chaos right now. And whenever you have chaos, Yeah,
(08:32):
it might feel good for a while, meal may feel
like it's working for a while, but if you don't
get that under control, it could crash and burn.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
Yeah, And that's I think that's the biggest problem is
that it's you're getting all these casual fans, like you
said so, but at the expense of I think the
loyal fans, the ones who have felt that allegiance with
the school for decades and have been asked for money,
you know, and have been paying for seat up grades
and getting you know, you get asked, oh, make this
(09:02):
just speaking for Washington, you make a taiee donation.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
Now maybe you get a better seat.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
And you've been doing this for years and years and
years and years, and then the product itself, the loyalty
to the program that you felt is gone. So you're
just kind of I think it's turning more people into
the casual football fan, whereas like, yeah, I'll tune in
on a Saturday to watch the big games in the
big matchups, but as far as Husky football, I mean,
(09:27):
I have season tickets right now. I went to two
games this year and part of that is because of
a schedule.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
So but what am I gonna do.
Speaker 3 (09:34):
Am I gonna keep paying for games where I'm and
supporting the program that doesn't feel the same when I
can only go to two games because of the schedule,
like and not the football schedule.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
I'm saying, like life schedule.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
Yes, and so no, probably not, because why would I
keep giving money to something that's.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
When your interest and love for it is waning?
Speaker 3 (09:55):
Yeah, And so I'm in this place now where I'm like, well,
do I want to give them that money again?
Speaker 2 (10:00):
Or do I just want to maybe say, Okay, you
know what.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Maybe I'll go to an away game, or maybe I'll
pick one game and just spend some money on one
game ticket versus a whole season.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
Yeah. Well, I think that a lot of these things
are great for college football. I think that we are
heading in the right direction. And I think even the
Dieard fan, even the cam Cleveland who misses bowl games,
once we get the playoff set and maybe we can
figure out a new way to play bowl games than
what we have had in the past. I think we
(10:31):
need to move on from the idea of you know, oh,
it's great to see these seniors all playing one last
game together. What are you talking about? You know, they're
like two of them that have been here all four years.
We don't need to hold on to that. Yeah, So,
but I do think that there's a way to hold
on to the Bowl feel, even though it won't look
(10:52):
anything like it used to, and the college football tournament
as we start hiring out some of these wrinkles. I
think that college I think follow. I think you'll follow
that road. I think maybe you even get used to
transfer portal and going from oh, we lost everybody at once,
but we got a lot of new guys coming in.
That's kind of like free agency, and everybody loves free
(11:14):
agency and professional sports. So I think that even though
you might not think you like it now, I think
you could stay on board with it. Where where your
point to me is loud and clear is the coaching changes,
and then that and how it affects the transfer portal.
Speaker 4 (11:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
No, I agree.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
That is especially to if we go through it again
and again. This isn't Jetfish coming out and saying he's
gonna leave or anything like that. This is no fault
of Jetfish right now, other than his past history shows
that he's moved around a bunch.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
Yeah, he's going to be involved in these in these rumors.
But what what's what? I don't think that fans like
you that are already starting to feel like disassociated with it,
what you're going to be able to deal with is
the coach, because the coach puts all of that other
stuff in motion. So to me, it's time to make
(12:04):
these hold these coaches feets to the fire and this
world that we live in where we're finding it perfectly
acceptable that you're at a job Kaylin de boor that
you absolutely love, that everybody there loves you, and because
you don't get along with the new athletic director who
(12:25):
nobody liked you, is already gone. If you just waited,
you had more power than he did, if you would
have just waited this always seeking some place where I'm
sure it's going to be even better. No, when you
find great, you better latch onto it. Yeah, you know
that that is a bad way to live life, and
(12:45):
for Lane Kiffen to keep doing it and it always
ends up blowing up in his in his face, uh
and and even Jetfish, same message to you, Bud, Like
you know, I hope you are serious about staying here,
and and yet if he does leave, you're right, he's
going to raid all of the program. Yeah, and he's
(13:07):
gonna take Demon Williams to Michigan with him, and he's
going to take half of the roster. And then guess
what the follow up move has to be if you're Washington, Well,
we got to hire another head coach because we just
lost our coach and half our roster. Yeah, so now
we got to go hire another head coach and then
raid their up. Sorry, sorry about it. We are now
raid your roster. Yeah, that has to be stopped.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
It feels dirty.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
And we talk about too that, Like, you know, we
spent the last couple of days talking about players moving and.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
Things like that too.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
And I just think it's interesting that the idea is in,
you know, in a way to stop the players from
moving is to sign have him sign a contract. Well,
contracts clearly don't mean Diddley, because look at all the
coaches who have signed contracts and then more of the
money comes in and then they're like, oh, never mind,
we'll just buy you out and you can we can
fire you, or we'll just pay more and you can
leave and we'll do deal with your buyout so contract
(14:00):
in college football, especially mean jack squad.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
And I think that that is where I would start,
because I think, like I said, all those other changes
will get accustomed to, and I think that will that
most of us, not all of us, most of us
are gonna like it better once we iron out all
the wrinkles. But there's no way to continue to like this.
There's no way we can do this raid and replace
(14:25):
kind of existence that we're living in college football. It's
it's nonsense, and it all starts with greedy coaches. And
so I think rules are going to have to be
put in place. I think college coaches need to be
held to the standard that players used to be held to,
the standardays to be held to. And if it's so
important for you to leave, players can now leave if
(14:47):
they want. Yeah, during the transfer portal year to year.
Let's not allow coaches to do that. If it's so
important to you to get to an even better program
where you're sure the grass is even greener than the
green ingrass that you say you love, and I've said
for years you love beneath your feet. But you've got
to get to that next one, because that's fourteen dollars
(15:07):
more and and and it's also oh gosh, when I
when I get there, I mean when it rains, it
rains skittles, and there are rains. Yeah, there are rainbows
that shoot out of all of my orifices every single morning.
I mean before it's heaven. You know, if that's the
(15:29):
mentality constantly and it never stops, make them sit out
of here. If that heaven is what you're sit out
of here without pay? Do you want to go now?
And I'll let you leave if you've got one year
left on your contract, and if they can't negotiate an extension,
or you don't want to negotiate an extension, we'll let
(15:49):
you leave. Because nobody wants to be in that even
program can't exist in that one year of is he
going to be here or is he going to not
be here? You know, you don't you don't even want
to deal with that as an admit. But I think
that if we could put in place like colleges can't
hire somebody, if they do hire somebody that's under contract
(16:10):
with another, then they have to go with an interim
for a year, and then they have to sit out
a year with no pay. Yeah, and then just curb it.
I'm not saying get rid of it, just curb it,
because you're right. I think what more than anything else
that has changed, if you continue to put college fan
bases through like always worried that their coach is leaving,
(16:33):
and then once he leaves, he's taking how much of
the roster? And then who do we have to steal away?
And then we got to learn a completely new roster,
and then we got to give that coach a year
to get adjusted, and so we're not going to hold him.
Just that to me is unsustainable. That's what's going to
chase away more college fans than anything, even though right
(16:54):
now none of you are getting chased away. You can
say you're getting chased away, but you're not getting chased
the way and the ratings suggest that. But if you
go through that experience enough, Ashley, I do see. I
can feel it in you.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
I'm not going to put up with this much longer,
right and I mean for me to be even considering
that we're not renewing our Husky tickets, yeah next year,
that is a big deal. We have had them since
Mark and I started dating, so this is and I
grew up with them with my dad, like, this is
a big deal, and I just think you know, as
far as NIL, I have no problem with I want
players to get money for their name, image and likeness.
(17:29):
But what has happened to nil has? It's out of control.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
Well, but where we are, we haven't trying to rain
that in. We do have rules. I don't know if
it's going to work, but they at least have implemented rules,
and then maybe we can start bringing some order in chaos.
But until you start telling these coaches you just can't
leave every year because you can make six dollars more
and get your ass kissed for a year on campus
until they turn on you and then you want to
(17:54):
leave again. Yeah, that has to get under control. And
shame on all of them. Shame on all of them them.
You know this grass is greener approach. How did you
not enjoy your How are you not enjoying your life?
Speaker 2 (18:06):
I know you got a pretty good one.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
How do you only enjoy it unless your ass is
getting kissed as the new guy on campus for one year?
That's all you can go. You're asking your players to
commit to you for four years and you can't go
more than a year without. Oh maybe I don't want
to be here anymore. You know, I saw the janitor
in the hallways and he wasn't very kind to me today.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
He didn't he wasn't super pumped to see me.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
Yeah, after spending this in the last three years, ripping
on kids and their lack of loyalty and the coaches,
they're setting the standard more so than anybody.
Speaker 5 (18:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (18:35):
Yeah, I don't know. I just the whole thing is
I don't like it.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
Mike Sando, Neck Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM,
Born and Cole Hunts Now with Mike, here's chucking. But
oh yes, every Thursday, this time getting ready for Thursday
Night football and so much more. It is our NFL
Insider from the Athletic Mike Sando, Good morning, Sarah.
Speaker 6 (18:57):
You sure you're prepared to go one on one with
me today without your partner.
Speaker 1 (19:02):
Yeah, I'm more than prepared, even though you will, for
the first time be covering a quarterback older than you.
Speaker 6 (19:09):
On Sunday, I wish I wish I was younger than
Philip Rivers. We're all making fun of him for looking
like he's you know, a little heavier, but yeah.
Speaker 4 (19:21):
He's probably a super elite athlete. Compared to the rest
of us.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
How I mean, where does this rank in the craziest
most unexpected stories of your career?
Speaker 6 (19:31):
It's definitely it's up there. I mean, I think to
be out for five years, you know, it's funny. I
think of this did happen once before? You know, the
the nineteen ninety eight Falcons team, which our good buddy
Robbie Tobeck was part of, did have Steve de Burg
come back after five years out. But they weren't really
(19:52):
counting on him. They went to the Super Bowl, they
weren't really counting on him to get him there. So
I think it's totally wild, but I get it. They're desperate.
I think that their options are limited. I'm sure they're
trying to do outter things. My question is, where's Ryan
Tannehill and all of this? Wouldn't he want to come
out of retirement?
Speaker 1 (20:09):
Cam Newton wanted to Cam.
Speaker 6 (20:11):
I just tweeted that I think recently he's throwing his
very stylish hat into the ring. Stuffout that it's a
different hat. He's got a better hat to throw.
Speaker 1 (20:19):
In the ring in anybody else, I mean, does he have?
I kind of get it. If the Colts are like, hey,
we got like four or five games. We're in playoff
contention right now. If we can just maybe steal a
game in the next couple of weeks with Rippin, and
let's sign Rivers now and maybe by the last couple
of weeks of the year that we can get him
up to speed and he will be better than what
(20:41):
Brett Rippen will be. But to sign him on Tuesday
and have him play against Mike McDonald's defense on Sunday,
I mean, Mike, is there any chance he's going to
have any level of success on Sunday?
Speaker 4 (20:54):
I don't think so.
Speaker 6 (20:55):
I think the best thing they could do would be
to string it along a little while. I think it's
a move that well, yes they could. You definitely use
a quarterback.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
I think it. You know, you're kind of showing your
locker room. You get a little energy.
Speaker 6 (21:06):
Hey, Philip Rivers out here, you got some hope. I
wouldn't want to have that hope go away in one
week when he gets, you know, helped off the field,
limping because he pulled a hamstring or something. I think
I would do. I would keep him in the queue
here for a week or two.
Speaker 4 (21:20):
It's unfair to send.
Speaker 6 (21:21):
Him out there against Seattle, a top two or three
defense in the league on the road. I mean, that's
just a recipe for failure, to really have a bad
game where he could get hurt. So I think I
would totally have him come along and be saving this
thing up. You're not going to get eliminated this week, right,
and maybe then you could get something out of him
after a week or two of practice.
Speaker 1 (21:42):
Crazy, just a crazy story and you had fun. I'm
here for it, front row, give me the popcorns.
Speaker 6 (21:48):
Like like you know I can remember, you know, this
is a long time ago, but like one time in
the eighties, Jim Brown was on the cover of Sports Illustrated,
like at age forty eight, he had last played in
like the sixties, like he was going to come back
the Raiders, because he was talking smack about all these
running backs, these these soft guys of today who we
now look back on as the hardcore guys, these soft
(22:09):
guys of today stepping out of bounds. Frank O Harris,
let me put let me lace him up again. And
he got on the cover Sports Illustrator, But he never
came back because he would look terrible. Yeah, right, Wilt
Chamberlain allegedly they were trying to bring him out of retirement.
He was allegedly like dominating against Magic Johnson and pickup games.
Speaker 4 (22:26):
I don't know about all of that.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
But you know, seven foot two, you probably could fill
a role like playing quarterback in the National Football League
five years after you retire. That just seems like too
large of a hurdle to clear.
Speaker 4 (22:41):
Yeah, put that all.
Speaker 6 (22:41):
We got one for visual Take his mug shot and
put it next to Brady's age forty four bug shot.
I mean, they're different guys. One guy, you know, he's
that annoying guy who's like at the gym at age
fifty and somehow looks like he's twenty. And the other
guy looks like, you know, you should look like you
should look.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
Yeah, and he's very likable. I mean, his press conference
was fantastic talking about his weight and everything else. But yeah,
we asked Mac them around. We don't have any choice.
I can't wait. It's going to be like a Rottweiler
on a pork chop. Coming up on Sunday, Mike Sando
is with us our NFL insider from the Athletics. A
lot of other things going on as well. Did you
(23:20):
get the sense that Joe Burrows comments this week a
bit cryptic, like almost he's feeling like he might not
play football anymore.
Speaker 4 (23:27):
Yeah, I think he gets that way. I did see that.
Speaker 6 (23:32):
A part of me was like, don't you just sort
of have to, you know, be the energy source for
your team too here, you know, and maybe he is
that on game day.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
Yeah, your team's bad because you haven't been there for them.
Speaker 4 (23:44):
Yeah, and their defense is bad too.
Speaker 6 (23:46):
I mean, you know how much of this is maybe
I should dust this off, But in past seasons, you know,
I've kind of run the side by side snapshot at
him and Carson Palmer. You know, they kind of both
have lived this Cincinnati experience one way to the other
and now got paid a ton of money. And I
think that was part of the issue with Carson Palmer.
But still it it gets discouraging after a while. I
(24:06):
think he's just in a different place with the injuries
what there are on defense, and it did everything they
could to win the game last week and still couldn't
win it. He had a great game and it didn't
bounce their way. So I agree, I think he's sort
of got to, you know, pull that together by the
end of the week and be the source of energy,
not the source of gloom.
Speaker 1 (24:24):
Chief's done.
Speaker 6 (24:26):
Yeah, I think they're done this year for I think
they're not going to make the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
Yes, what about like like done, like they need to rebuild?
Done or well they'll make a couple of adjustments and
be right back next year.
Speaker 6 (24:39):
I think that'd be the second one. I think they'll
definitely make some adjustments. I felt like it could actually
help them to miss the playoffs if they're not going
to be a team that goes all the way or
goes deep, just because it does force you to, you know,
make maybe some changes you wouldn't make otherwise when you
feel like you're close, when it's proven you're not close,
like by not making the playoffs, I think then you
(25:00):
need to. There's some more soul searching goes on, and
I think that could be good for them.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
Rams play the Lions this week. Fantastic matchup and man,
that Stafford Golf trade. Have you ever seen a trade
benefit more teams more than what that one did?
Speaker 6 (25:16):
No, it's it's tough to have a win win like that.
They were both perfect for each other at a really
critical important position. I mean, how many quarterbacks for quarterback trades.
Have there even been, let alone guys who end up becoming,
you know, getting new contracts with their teams being winning
playoff games. It's it really was a great trade. It's
funny you mentioned Burrow, you know, being down and out.
(25:37):
I think Stafford was at that point in the trade
where he's just kind of like, all right, I've been
here enough, you know, let me go somewhere else.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
And I wonder if something similar could happen. I mean,
you use that as the proto type the Golf Stafford trade.
If Cincinnati would say, hey, if we can get a
franchise quarterback in return, because usually these things are we
trade our franchise quarterback for seventeen draft picks and rebuild.
But if Cincinnati could get a trade in the off
(26:02):
season where we're going to trade you for another you know,
like Jared Golf, like a good, We're gonna trade it
great for a good and then you throw us a
bunch of draft picks in addition, maybe that's something Cincinnati entertains.
If in fact, Joe Burrow is uh still wants to play.
Speaker 6 (26:18):
Yeah, if some people have talked to in the league
had kind of predicted it could go down that path
at some point.
Speaker 4 (26:25):
I think the perception of golf.
Speaker 6 (26:27):
Was that, hey, he was kind of this, you know,
appreciated asset so to speak. Right, if we're going to
use an economic type of a term, So who would
that be? Who's like still good? But you know, is
perceived to have run his course in a certain place.
And off the top of my head, I I don't.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
Know, Ram Darnold in a first for Joe Burrow, would
you do it?
Speaker 4 (26:49):
Uh?
Speaker 6 (26:52):
Yes, yeah, what I was thinking about this just caught
me off off guard.
Speaker 4 (26:56):
But what about now? What about like Caleb Williams?
Speaker 6 (27:01):
Ah, you know what if Den Johnson wanted to play
with with Burrow and they said, hey, we'll give you
our guy. But yeah, but I mean it's no offensive
journal But I mean has been a top tier guy.
Speaker 5 (27:15):
You know.
Speaker 4 (27:15):
I do think the injuries are concerned with him.
Speaker 1 (27:20):
Mm hmm yeah, but yeah, Caleble is a better example,
like a young quarterback that's controllable that Cincinnati could have
and then you probably throw in a little bit more.
I like that thought. All right. Thursday Night Football Falcons
Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Are the Buccaneers going to hold onto
this division? Or not.
Speaker 6 (27:37):
God, I don't know. I don't know if they are.
There's something wrong. They've they've really, you know, they they've
fallen off. I think some of it is differently their
injury situation. But what's Atlanta. You know, Atlanta is a team. Yeah,
they're They're a team that really needs to show something
late in the year too, to avoid a bunch of
huge changes. That might be the best thing for him anyway.
So I think it's a desperation game. I'm kind of
(27:58):
oddly intrigued by it in that sense. And they've played,
I think they've played. Last year, they played, didn't they
play a prime time game that was wild? Yeah, overtime
or something. Yes, yes, we get that.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
I just Cousins was in that game and actually was
his only good game last year.
Speaker 6 (28:12):
Yeah, so may maybe he can have another good game.
But I think it's more of a curiosity than a
good matchup.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
All right, all right, man, Well, thank you very much.
Enjoyed Philip Rivers on Sunday. And if he's successful, I'm
going to try a comeback.
Speaker 4 (28:27):
Absolutely. Yeah. I didn't know you have to, Oh, thank you.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
I haven't played quarterback junior or in high school, but
I will make a comeback.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
That is what they call.
Speaker 6 (28:38):
Is there like some Super eight video of that mobile.
Speaker 4 (28:45):
Being colors being color this way.
Speaker 1 (28:47):
It's a lot of hands handing off the ball, not
a lot of throwing in southern Illinois in the late eighties.
I'll tell you that.
Speaker 6 (28:53):
I'm going to try to find that video. I'm gonna
have to find that video, but I do think it's
probably film. It's probably just a spice together.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
Drawings drawings of me in the little book.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
You just have to flip it fast.
Speaker 4 (29:06):
Yeah, fast.

One last thing on KJR, final segment. One last thing, Ashley,
(29:36):
what you got all right?
Speaker 3 (29:37):
Well, we spent quite a bit of time today talking
about college football and the Sharon Moore thing and coaches
and players and everyone leaving right.
Speaker 2 (29:44):
And my my thought is.
Speaker 3 (29:46):
The thing that I used to love so much about
college football, the loyalty. It's gone, and so that was
kind of what always had drew me to it, and
as that's going away, I'm finding myself more drawn away
from it. You brought up that you know, the product
is huge and the rate are huge, and I do
agree with that. I think I've turned from being more
of the loyal I want to spend my money supporting
(30:09):
this team in this new environment, to the more casual fan.
And that made me start thinking like, well, what would
be the thing that would draw more people in again?
And I think that having you're going to start to
see college fantasy football because you've got all these players
going around, and that's what's going to get the product
even bigger. Right, You've got all these people that I mean,
(30:31):
I like it is, but it hasn't been that big
of a deal. And I think now with all these
players and you've got these superstars and they're going from
team to team and they're that that making that product
even bigger would draw the people in that are kind
of losing interest because they feel like their product has
been changed. And so I don't know, I just started
(30:53):
thinking about it. How you know NFL fantasy football. I
don't care about the Steelers, I don't care about the Ravens,
I don't care about the Buccaneers, but I care about
my fantasy football team. So I watch all those games
every week.
Speaker 1 (31:05):
Yeah, I think it will become a bigger deal. I
think the stock of college football is actually going up,
despite the number of people like yourself that are so
extremely frustrated with it. Yeah, we are in a transition period.
We knew it was going to get a little bit ugly,
and I don't even mean to I mean, we spent
a lot of time talking about how the U dubbed
(31:26):
Kaitlin de boor Jedfish, Chris Peterson, those are the guys
being linked to Michigan right now. We don't know if
they have any interest.
Speaker 2 (31:32):
No, we have no idea.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
That's just people spitballing out there. And so I don't
want to be unfair again to Jed Fish, right, but
this comes with the you know, moving around the WAT
and so your name gets brought up. So maybe there's
zero interest whatsoever. But this pattern of you know, promising,
I mean I was the statement was made unless you
(31:55):
could say you wouldn't leave for a higher paying job.
Then I don't know if you can judge them. Number One,
I have passed up a higher paying job, so I
guess I am allowed to judge them. And then secondarily,
I would say I'm also if I moved to a
radio station for more money, or any other job for
more money. I haven't promised one hundred and eighteen year
(32:18):
olds and their parents to trust me, right, No, So
I don't think that process can continue. No, that's the
one thing you better get hemmed in if you're college football,
because I do believe fans will get sick of a
coach showing up, promising we're there and then leaving.
Speaker 3 (32:35):
You just need a GM really to do all that,
and do the recruit do the recruiting, sign their contracts
and call it a day, and then they meet the
coach when they get there.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
All right, we'll just send it right there. Oh, I
know what I was going to use. Stove Anders and
