another turnover.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Who comes on top of it? So Marcus Lawrence tanks
in his twelfth year hi as Seahawks coming off a
twenty six. Nothing went over the Minnesota Vikings. But it
is a humpday, and so we put that in our
rear view mirror. It's all about the next opponent, the

Atlanta Falcons, a Sunday at ten o'clock in Atlanta, Georgia.

Good Wednesday morning to you. Let me hit your frost

(00:56):
Thursday Night Football, we'll get the brand new week of
the NFL started, and for many people out there, the
final week of the regular season in their fantasy leagues
as well, which I think is noteworthy heading into this week.
It'll be Dallas at Detroit. Should be a fun Thursday
night matchup to get us started college football conference Championship week.

(01:16):
There will be conference championship games held on Friday night,
but all the big boys are playing on Saturday, and
then on Selection Sunday, we will finally know the twelve
team field that will play on the second ever true
college football playoff tournament in the history of the world.
College football Playoff rankings came out last night, the penultimate rankings.

(01:36):
The most interesting thing that occurred was probably Alabama jumping
Notre Dame to the nine spot Notre Dame at the
ten spot, and so that puts Notre Dame firmly on alert.
They are on the bubble, there's no question about that.
The college basketball season continues for the Fighting Sprinkles here
in Seattle. UB will host UCLA, finally a nine Big

(02:00):
Ten college basketball rivalry that reminds us of a rivalry.
It'll be the Bruins and the Dogs tonight at eight o'clock.
Cracking and Oilers will play tomorrow. Al Koniski will join
us on the show at nine point thirty to discuss that.
And we are four days away from another holiday. The
Winter meetings start on Sunday, and so get your decorations

every toast shine Game Day Bubbles only with Copola Diamond Forsecco.
Now with twelk Man News, here's Greg Bell with Chuck
and Butt.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
All right, well it's humpday and now we really can
put these Atlanta Falcons in our crosshairsday here today it's
a struggling team right now, you might even argue a
struggling franchise. They do not have their starting quarterback healthy.
So the Seahawks once again we'll get to face a
backup quarterback. But this one's a lot different than last week.

(03:11):
It's Kirk Cousins, who's about one hundred years older than
Max Brosmer, getting the start for the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
And yet, Greg, when I watch Kirk Cousins, I think, man,
are you in trouble? His lack of mobility facing Mike
McDonald's defense the defense that Kirk Cousins probably hasn't seen before.

(03:32):
I'm not sure we're going to see much different results
than what we saw last week against Max Brosmer. Tell
me I'm right or wrong about that.

Speaker 4 (03:40):
Well, I'm not sure about that because the one thing
that the Falcons and Kirk Cousins have without Michael Pennix
out for the season injured, they have Bejon Robinson. And
he's a thousand yard rusher. He's nine hundred and ninety
five yard. He's a top five NFL rusher. In fact,
the Seahawks are going to face two top five NFL
rushers the next two weeks. Jonathan Taylor and the Holts
come in here next week. Taylor push number one in

(04:03):
the NFL and rushing, but Bjon Robinson is what makes
this a different challenge for the Seahawks. They're running game,
and the ability to run means that the entire game
won't be on Cousins in the quarterback like it was
for Brosmer and the Vikings, because the Vikings didn't I
haven't run all year and didn't even barely try to
run against the Seahawks. The Seahawks rushing totals and high

(04:28):
ranking and rush defenses large because teams don't do it.
The Seahawks have played from the front while winning.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
Six of the last seven games.

Speaker 4 (04:36):
So teams have abandoned the run early in games, and
when they have run, they haven't been able to do
much of it, and so there aren't a lot of
rush attempts against Seattle. That's going to change Sunday, and
he rushed twenty four times against the Jets, another one
hundred and forty two yard day. They lost at the end.
I mean, they were winning that game and they gave
up to the Jets in the Meadowlands. On Sunday, they

(04:56):
give up ten points in the last one point fifty
three to choke.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
That game away. They lost by one against.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
New England when they missed an extra point. They end
up cutting their kicker.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
About that.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
They've cut two kickers, by the way. They cut coup
after Week one when he missed a field goal late
in the game, and then they cut his replacement when
he missed the pat against the Patriots, the ten and
two Patriots, So they're on their third kickers Ingnzalez.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
There's all kinds of problems. So it starts with the
quarterback not being there, Michael Pennix.

Speaker 4 (05:25):
But I wouldn't overlook the Falcons as another shutout candidate
because of Robinson.

Speaker 5 (05:30):
Uh yeah, well they got Robinson and then Drake Lindon
might be back, have Kyle Pitts. He there's weapons there.
And yet we're watching a dysfunctional offense. So what is
it that besides Beijon Robinson because typically or so far
during the season, Seattle's been fairly difficult to run against.
If they'd say they take him away as they're still
concerns if they don't have an effective run game that

(05:53):
Kirk Cousins and the rest of that offense could put
up enough points.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
Well, there's concerns. I would think that we'll Seahawks score
enough points because the Falcons. We'll go on and on
about the Seahawks in their pass rush and they have
forty sacks and that's fourth in the league and they're
on pace for their second most sacks ever. We're talking
going back to Legion the boom Bays. Yet the Falcons
have more than the Seahawks do. The Falcons have forty

(06:17):
one sacks in twelve games. They blitz a lot, second most,
but we saw the number one blitz team by plenty.
Minnesota come in here and what they did in the
first half to cut to Sam Darnold four sacks the
season high in one half. Well, the number two team
in blitz is Atlanta, and they've completely changed their defense.
They've pass rush has been their big problem for years

(06:40):
down there. They've invested high draft picks, they've addressed in
new coaching staff, they've addressed in a brand new approach,
and now that blitz a lot. And we saw what
Seattle had problems with blitzing and then eventually fake blitzing
by Brian Flores and the Vikings last weekend. I think
that's the number one thing for Seattle this week is

(07:00):
shoring up their blitz protection and their blitz pass calls.
Cooper Cup talked about it after the game Sunday. He said, Hey,
if they're gonna blitz, we need to change schematically. And
I thought he was kind of shining a light on
Clint Kubiak when he said, if they're gonna rush from
the edge like that, let's get the quarterback outside. Let's
not run twenty yard routes, but maybe get used to

(07:21):
running three yard routes and turning your head quickly and
the ball arriving quickly. We started to see that later
in the second half after they adjusted, and Smith and
Jigua was a primary adjuster to those routes. But if
they blitz the same effectiveness, they're gonna bring blitz close
to frequency that Minnesota did.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
But the Falcons do it as the.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
Effectiveness they see twenty yard in routes by Smith and
Jigma because they won't have time to throw them.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
Greg bellers with us our Seahawks insider, and you can
follow him at Gmail, Seattle and of course Thenewstribune dot com.
I mean here we said, I mean we nick picked this.
We uh we pour over it. And I wonder though,
as I'm nitpicking, as we headed to December here in
the stretch run of the season, is there a concern
for the Seahawks offense. For Sam Donald, I mean the

(08:08):
last three games Rams Titans Vikings, he's completing sixty one
percent of his passes versus north of seventy prior to that.
For the season, he's been sacked five times in three games.
Prior to that, he was sacked ten times, and nine
games he's only thrown two touchdown passes. Here in the
last three weeks versus four interceptions. I mean, we saw

(08:30):
Clint Kubiak's offense in New Orleans a year ago start
like a house of fire and then was terrible in
the second half. So did the Rams or possibly Brian
Flores last week for the Vikings, is there any fear
that maybe they've shown the league the blueprint for how
to slow down Kubiak, Donald and the Seahawks offense.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
Well, I would think that these upcoming teams are going
to copy the Vikings blitzing and then sake blitzing a lot.
I would say the Falcons, well, I know they're going
to do it because they blitzed anyway against everybody, and
then the Colts after it.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
I don't think the Rams are going to change.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
Anything in what they did in the first game because
they intercept him four times. But there is concern about
the turnovers for sure. And when he is hit in
the pocket, he often loses the ball. I mean that's
a problem because the quarterbacks number one job is to
secure the ball. Of all the thousands of things that
he gets paid millions of dollars to do, holding onto

(09:31):
the ball is number one and throwing it to the
right guy is number two.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
But when you get.

Speaker 4 (09:36):
Hit, you can't lose the ball. And with this offensive line,
you're going to get hit at times. And when you
do hit, go to the ground and take the loss
and have Michael Dixon punt instead of getting hit losing
the ball in first and ten at the other plus
eighteen that's happened a lot of times this season. Fifteen
turnovers in twelve games, second most only Tungo Vyova in

(09:57):
Miami with one more has.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
More in the league. To me, that's the number one concern.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
And he can say, wow, my job is to take
care of the ball. Well, what's causing that with the
blitzes and pressures And there was a back blindside pressure
that he didn't see and got hit in the back
and lost the ball for a fumble against the Vikings.
Those things, and yes, for eleven games they had only
eleven sacks, fewest in the league. Atlanta's going to do

(10:23):
what Minnesota did blitz But I.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
Think now you're going to see the Colts next week.

Speaker 4 (10:27):
And teams down the road perhaps changed their game plan
a little bit more and add some more pressure to
see if Seattle can combat that. We still have the
specter of an offensive line change we talked about a
couple of days ago.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
That won't happen this week, it appears, but next week.

Speaker 4 (10:42):
If Jensendell does come back, when he could be eligible
to come off of IR, there's a chance that he
could be either the new starting new old starting center
or the new starting right guard, which would change perhaps
over with Timmy or Anthony Bradford at right guard. They're
not the Seahawks aren't just thrown up their hands and
and okay, come blitz and we'll try to figure it out.

(11:02):
There could be personnel changes, not this week, but next
in that regard.

Speaker 5 (11:06):
Gee, I think the Falcons play a three four a
lot like what the Minnesota Vikings do.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
Now.

Speaker 5 (11:12):
I don't know if they have the same you know,
jimmies and Joe's or the x's and those for that matter.
But is there something that you saw last week that
in that formation playing the three four that was part
of what creates the confusion for Sam Donald or just
the offense in general.

Speaker 4 (11:29):
Well, yeah, when you have a three four, then your
pass rushers are more. You have one more linebacker, and
your pass rushers tend to be edge speed guys rather
than defensive line big guys, And you're right. Atlanta runs
a base three four usually, and their edge rushers their
speed guys. I mean even the veteran Leonard Floyd is

(11:50):
a speed guy.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
That's so.

Speaker 4 (11:54):
Yes, it is somewhat fundamentally different. Just because you have
fewer beefeeding guys up front.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
That was a confusion issue.

Speaker 4 (12:01):
There were many times in Minnesota game. There were many
times that the Seahawks offensive line were standing and waiting
on defensive linemen to rush, and they didn't rush.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
They backed off, and.

Speaker 4 (12:11):
Then Anthony Bradford and Abe Lucas a couple of.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
Times would stand and wait and meanwhile.

Speaker 4 (12:17):
Here comes the steaming inside or outside linebacker to the
opposite side, blitzing in while they were watching linemen stand
in front of him. That's a problem that started. Flora's
game plan was blitz early and then back off and
fake blitz, and then when they did blitz, don't send
everybody drop off the defensive lineman, so you're actually rushing
three or four often but standing and backing.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
Up the defensive line.

Speaker 4 (12:42):
It was a scheme that worked against Seattle. That Atlanta,
I'm sure is going to try and Indian's going to
try and They've got.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
To figure it out.

Speaker 4 (12:49):
Whether it's get the ball out quick more quickly, run
shorter routes, as Cups suggested, roll the quarterback out. Darnold
stood in the pocket quite a bit against Minnesota, taking
those hits and getting six passes knockdown. Cup made the
point of let's roll outside that pressure and see we
can run around it and not have the throws right
into the defensive linemen and the linebackers are jumping in

(13:09):
the face, but offensively. Yes, we are talking at length
today because that's the key, not just to this game,
but the rest of the season.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
Our Shocks insider Greg Bell is with us, and I'm
reading this guy Greg Bell at the Newstribune dot com.
And is he Is he telling me that Mike McDonald
has more tricks up his sleeve in regards to nick
Emon Warri usage.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
Yes, I am.

Speaker 4 (13:34):
How about nick Emon Warry as a defensive end, boy,
that's what he plays.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
I went through.

Speaker 4 (13:39):
Snap by snap, I just watched Demon Worry Monday and
he lined up seven times as a defensive end. One
time he lined up inside the tight end and outside
the defensive tackle or offensive tackle as a five technique
defensive end. He was mostly not. They call it nine
technique when you're outside the tight end way wide, almost
like an outside linebery. But he was on the line

(14:00):
of scrimmage as a defensive end seven times out of
his fifty snaps. And McDonald chuckled and said, we just
keep giving him stuff and he keeps doing it. And
they never did this, the Ravens and McDonald never did
this with Kyle Hamilton.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
When they drafted.

Speaker 4 (14:14):
Of course, even Worry in the second round traded up
seventeen spots to get him in May. They talked about
him being a Kyle Hamilton and do it everything. Well,
he's doing more than Hamilton. The All Pro as a
rookie and his eight games in remember he missed three
games because of the high ankle sprain he got on
the fourth play of the season. He's only played eight
NFL games. And they've got him playing post safety, nickel safety,

(14:37):
outside linebacker sometimes inside linebacker. Next to Ernest Jones. Is
the only two off by linebackers in the field. They've
got him playing outside linebacker, blitzing off the edge. They
got him playing outside linebacker dropping into the flat, and
now they got him playing defensive end.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
When you look at the numbers.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
Everyone says, well, Seattle's got the sub package at ninety
two percent there in sub package, nicol Or dying. It's
because of Nick gave and worry. But he and they
saved all these light box numbers that these analytics guys
talk about. The Steers don't play a light box. They
have a two hundred and twenty pounds safety who comes
to the line of scrimmage to play defensive end.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
That's their light box. They have a light box in.

Speaker 4 (15:12):
Terms of people see all Nick even wore He's safety
is on the field now, even while he's playing defensive end.
So it is fascinating to watch McDonald in real time
invent things to do with him. He said, we're making
it up on the fly. When they drafted him, they
said that they had no idea that he could play
defensive end, but they tried it in practice. It looked good.

(15:34):
They tried it in the game, look great. You're gonna
see it again in Sunday in Atlanta, and McDonald's were
just making it up as we go. He kind of
chuckled that there's nothing this kid can't do yet. His
speed is power, his awareness and his ability to learn
and willingness to learn it. It's really fun to watch
when I know we all tend to follow the ball
when we watch, specially on television, because the TV narrows

(15:55):
it to the ball. But people listening, if you're at
a game, person, put your binoculars or eyes on number
three and just watch three.

Speaker 2 (16:03):
It's interesting to.

Speaker 4 (16:04):
Watch him line up in a different place every snap.
He rarely lined up in the same place two snaps
and definitely not three snaps in a row against Minnesota,
and that's a headache for quarterbacks and offensive coordinators and McDonald.
That's half the purpose of doing that is so they
don't know where he's coming from.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
That's fun. Yeah, and you're saying, we got this guy
for a few more years. Huh rookie.

Speaker 4 (16:26):
He's under rookie salary for the next three and a
half years for you.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (16:31):
That that that trade and draft pick looks pretty good
right now.

Speaker 1 (16:35):
All right, Greg, awesome stuff, Thank you man, We appreciate it,
and we'll do the roundtable tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
We will happy Wednesday. Thank you.

Speaker 1 (16:42):

Factor Fiction. It's the last week of the Factor Fiction season.
Ashley makes the latest pick for you at seven thirty five.

(17:23):
We'll also talk about that college football calendar and whether
or not fixing the calendar will fix. Lane Kiffins of
the World Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM, All right,

(17:51):
Factor Fiction comes away at seven thirty five, just five
minutes away from Ashley's latest selection. I know a lot
of you are nervous. Ten thousand dollars on the line
for a few of you in the running for that
jackpot who have been arguably the best this year at
Factor Fiction. We will decide it at the end of
this week. Ashley's next pick will help or hurt you

(18:13):
win ten thousand dollars coming up at seven thirty five
here this morning. In the meantime, college football has a
lot of messes. They've got a lot of great things
going for them too. Product looks great. I mean, the
enthusiasm for the tournament seems to be ramped up, even
more so this year than in the inaugural year of
the twelve team format. So there are a lot of

(18:35):
good things going obviously for college football right now, but
there are few There are few things about the entire
product that obviously need ironed out going forward. This Lane
Kiffin mess, I mean, for goodness sake, a coach leaving
his team after they finished the regular season and qualify

(18:57):
for the playoffs. I mean, could you even iagine in
an NFL coach doing that? Just hey, guys, got a
better offer. I'm out of here again either, h Can
you imagine a high school coach doing that? Oh? Yeah,
there's really nothing. And yet in the college football world,
here we've got Lane Kiffin, who guides ole Miss to
this eleven and one season. He's beloved by his players,

(19:18):
beloved by the community, beloved by the university for what
he's done for ole Miss football. But this was his
chance to get a slightly better job, and so he
took it. And certainly there's a loud contingency out there
that believes, Hey, this is not a Lane Kiffin issue.
This is not a coach or player being selfish issue.

(19:39):
This is a college football calendar issue. And as long
as we can move National Signing Day deeper into the offseason,
forget about it. We're still in the season and it's today.
So long as we can move it out of the
regular season and into the offseason, then we shouldn't have
this issue pop up again. I don't know if I

(20:01):
believe that, Bucky. I don't know that, but certainly that
would help. And certainly it is ridiculous that we have
National Signing Day today when we still have games to
be played throughout the course of the post season now,
and I think it's embarrassing that college football hasn't gotten

(20:25):
out in front of this and time to save us
from this Lane Kiffin issue.

Speaker 5 (20:29):
I don't necessarily know if I I'm worried about like
this part of the count like the signing day, because
typically that was you're getting kids that are in high
school to sign with your team.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
Now, great, okay, sign up.

Speaker 5 (20:42):
You can come stand on the sideline and watch us
through the playoffs or however whatever is going on. But
there's most certainly, and it just like anything that there's
problems in. It's probably not one thing that solves the
entire problem, but I think an overarching let's just say
that you're the hiring part of college football happens like

(21:05):
it there's a dead period two weeks before the final
season for your final your end of the regular season
through the end of the playoffs. No, there's no college
football hirings. All I'm getting at is I don't care
where those dates are. Where you set the parameters, You
just playing and simple set it to where everybody's playing

(21:27):
by the same rules. Everybody's playing by the same rules. Now,
it's just that there's so many different things that are
going on where obviously in the lane given situation, it's like, well,
if you're going to take this job, then we need
you to be doing this early signing period for LSU now,
and so that needs to be moved around or it
just needs to be that. No, if you're going to

(21:49):
take the LSU job, you don't get to just poach
all of your players from your team. If you're jumping
ship to go somewhere you think is better, then you
don't get to make that decision. They don't have the contact,
isn't there, They don't. None of that process starts until
you're you've finished doing what you're supposed to finish doing
for twenty twenty five. So something in the calendar needs

(22:09):
to change. And it's not just one thing.

Speaker 6 (22:10):
I'm certain, Yeah, it absolutely needs to change, but I
you know, some of the argument has been, well, it's
based on or coincides with what the school calendar is,
and you're trying to get kids into school and the
right timing.

Speaker 7 (22:21):
Let's be honest. I mean, nobody's worried about.

Speaker 6 (22:24):
If a five star or you know, if a if
the biggest recruit that has entered the portal misses the
first two weeks of school, nobody cares of the second semester.

Speaker 7 (22:35):
So school has become the secondary thing to a jolt.

Speaker 6 (22:38):
It's always been a yel So you can't you can't
rely on that to be the reason for your calendar anymore.

Speaker 7 (22:44):
Because we're past that.

Speaker 1 (22:45):
Well National signing Day, I mean ninety five percent of
the players are already signed. Now some could jump ship
and I guess that's the excuse Lane Kiffin is using.
I gotta get there because I got to make sure
that all the defence is mended. I can't let anybody
slip out, and then I might be able to steal
a couple of the old miss guys here at the
last second, which is another classy move to try to

(23:07):
get him into my corral. So that's what people, even
Rick Newiel said yesterday. That's why lane Kiffin had to
make this jump was because he had to get to
LSU before the signing day to make sure he didn't
lose any recruits and maybe to steal a couple of
recruits before the signing day comes to a close. Well,

(23:27):
I would think that is easy to move that date,
but I don't know if that easily fixes everything, because
I think selfishness has come to rule college football, and
I think everyone is in it for themselves, and especially
the coaches, even more so than the players. So you
can move the calendar, but I have a feeling coaches
are going to take the bag whenever they get the

(23:48):
opportunity to do it. All right, let's play some factor fiction.
Where's that to go? Glad you're with us?

Speaker 3 (23:53):
It's your shot at our weekly thousand bucks and the
ten thousand dollars grand prize. It's Factor Fiction, probably presented
by Lucky Eagle Casino in Hotel where every day feels lucky.
Fact Door Fiction is on Sports Radio ninety three point
three kJ R FM just feels.

Speaker 6 (24:14):
Bigger this week, it does. I know I have been
racking my brain over this decision. I don't want to
screw up and I don't want to make the wrong choice.

Speaker 1 (24:22):
There are some listeners, there's some Factor fiction players right now.
I promise you they're pitting out right now.

Speaker 7 (24:26):
I'm oh for sure.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
Put them theodor in on and when this thing or.

Speaker 6 (24:31):
Come sitting here because it's an ice box.

Speaker 1 (24:34):
Oh, Ashley, spick pens and needles. That's where these Factor
fiction contestants are right now. They just want to know
where's Ashley gonna take me? Is she gonna make it
hard on me? Is she gonna pick a game I
don't really like. Well, Ashley, it's entirely up to you
for the next few seconds.

Speaker 6 (24:50):
Well, and here's the thing is, I made this pick
earlier this morning. Greg had me doubting it a little bit.
But I'm gonna feel confident in it. Seattle heading to Atlanta.
They're a six and a half point favorite. I love
that they're under seven. So give me Seattle minus the
six and a half at the Falcons.

Speaker 1 (25:08):
No, minus six and a half.

Speaker 7 (25:10):
Yeah that's what I said, minus the six and a half.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
Okay, yeah, okay, I kind of misinterpreted it. Oh sorry,
So all right, So Seahawks win by seven or more. Yep, okay,
got it, got it my fault. And so yes, I
love that pick. I was thinking about that on the
drive in if that was still going to be there
for me tomorrow, I was going to take that. This
is just a game where this is I think it's
the last one. But it's like, you gotta win. I

(25:33):
think the Falcons have waived the white flag, and you
have everything in the world to play for it, including
possibly the number one overall seed in the NFC playoffs.
They should. They should take care of business, just as
they did last week, just as they did the previous week.
So I like it. I like that.

Speaker 6 (25:49):
Selection, well, thank you, and I like yeah it was
If it had been seven, I probably would have been
more nervous, but I like that.

Speaker 7 (25:54):
All they have to do is win by seven, So
I can't get up here.

Speaker 1 (25:56):
You got I got it? Yeah, get the push.

Speaker 2 (25:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (25:58):
For some reason, I misinterpreted that it's my fault. It's
my fault, all right. So Ashley's taking the Seahawks minus
six and a half, which means they have to win
by seven or more on the road in order for
her to be right. If you think she's right, text
fact to four nine four five one. If you think
she's full of beans, text fiction to four nine four
five one. If you're right, and that's all that matters,

(26:21):
you enter your name into a drawing for one thousand
dollars in cash at the end of the week. It's
our last thousand dollars that we're going to give away.
Also very important if you're vying for the ten thousand
dollars jackpot man, you need to get these things right.
Could come down to one pick, and so you better
be playing every single time we're playing. That's for starters,
and you better be good this week because it does

(26:42):
sound like it is razor close. So Ashley six and
a half points, she's gonna lay that for the Seahawks
on the road against the Atlanta Falcons. She's saying they
win by seven points or more if you agree fact
to four nine four or five to one if you
disagree fiction to four nine four five one. It's all
been brought to you all season long by our brand
new partner, Lucky Eagle Casino and Hotel. Lucky Eagle Casino

(27:07):
and Hotel is back to twenty four hour gaming every
Friday and Saturday, slots and jackpots all night long. Details
at Lucky Eagle dot com. Your next chance to play
at eleven thirty five this morning with Mark James and
Christopher Kid. Coming up next, we will talk about National
Signing Day. It is here Sports Radio ninety three point
three kJ r FM.

Speaker 5 (27:28):
You did say, yeah, yeah, you saw the sign.

Speaker 1 (27:32):
The same saw the sign and they decided to fix it.
That's good. I can imagine that.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
I get I.

Speaker 1 (27:42):
Would have stopped them from doing that, Chuck. No, I
don't think that you would have.

Speaker 2 (27:47):
No.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
I'd have been like, do you see a sign?

Speaker 2 (27:49):
Chuck?

Speaker 1 (27:49):
I was the only freshman on a high school or
on a college baseball team. What chance did I have
of getting through that year?

Speaker 2 (27:55):
At a zero?

Speaker 1 (27:56):
That's a zero. The only chance that I had was
that my sister also went to that college. He was
three years older than me, and she's very cute, so
they all wanted to be with her, right, so that
was the only thing that was saving me. I kept
thinking to myself, when am I going to get hazed?
And then I said that stupid thing and.

Speaker 7 (28:13):
How often I could play that song?

Speaker 1 (28:15):
So yes, maybe it was my just rip the band
aid off. Let's just get this out of the way.
I love rock set.

Speaker 7 (28:25):
Must have been love.

Speaker 1 (28:26):
Did you guys hear what Chuck just said. Yeah, then
they came up with a plan, and they came up
with a plan. I got tied to the gurney, wheeled
out the center field and the rain, and they hit
fly balls at me. Oh fuck, Oh, you'd get in
so much trouble nowadays. Nobody actually hit me. But they
weren't actually trying to hit me, because I think they
were accurate enough that they could have hit me, but

(28:48):
they were just trying to hit it near me. Yeah,
so that I thought it might hit me.

Speaker 5 (28:53):
Yeah, one could have hit you. One could have hit
I'm going to tell you right now, I don't care
how good you think you are.

Speaker 1 (28:58):
You're not that good. I don't think they were going
to shed a tear if one or can hit me. Yeah, no,
they would be okay with Yeah, I think so, but yeah,
that would not be fun to be out there. That's
a good one. I heard of that one, sou That
is one thing I checked off my bucket list. I
got hazed as a college athlete as a college freshman.

(29:18):
One thing I never did get to check off my
bucket list is I wish that I could have had
a national signing day. I've always kind of enjoyed the process.
I don't as much anymore, but I kind of I'm
one of the few people out there that likes it.
When we had the hats out and you put the
hat on, and you chose your team, and you thanked

(29:40):
everybody that got you to this point, and you hug
your parents. I always liked that. A lot of people
hate that, but I've always liked that. I don't like
it as much anymore because it doesn't even feel like
a commitment.

Speaker 7 (29:53):
They just pick one and then they change it five.

Speaker 1 (29:55):
Minutes later, keep the other hats in their duffel bag.
I mean, yeah, we all remember our first girlfriend or boyfriend.
They're the person we broke up with first, or we
got broke up bye bye first, and that's kind of
where college athletics is right now. You're not choosing a
team today, You're choosing the first team you're going to

(30:17):
leave today. Yes, yeah, it's your first X team. Yeah,
I'm with you. Some of those kids stayed with the
same girl all the way through high school, but let's
face it, most of us didn't. And so today you're
choosing the first team you're going to break up with. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (30:33):
Yeah, And that's it sucks because, I mean I was
never a giant fan. I mean I liked a lot
more back then than I do now because at least
it meant something. You signed a letter of intent and
that was what it was period. That's who who you're with.
And I'm not wholeheartedly against the kids transferring because basically,
when we watch the coaches doing it, how do you

(30:54):
expect them to be loyal to the program when the
dude that got them to come there ump ship and
go somewhere else. It's just so the whole thing is
messed up in my opinion as far as how how
guys are able to move around. But yeah, signing day,
I think it's gone over the top now. I mean
I see like buddies of mine, Like their kids are

(31:15):
signing like to go to Blue Mountain Community College where
I went, and like to have a big thing, like
you know, the banner behind them, and it's it's like, dude,
like you're going to Blue you I mean, this is
not a giant step in the direction like you're you know.

Speaker 1 (31:29):
I mean, I I it's it's a lot. Now.

Speaker 5 (31:32):
If that's the biggest moment that they get to have,
I don't know why I'm poopooing on it. I mean,
it was the same path that I took, and so
it just seems odd to me. There's a little bit
of a glorification of certain things that I think gets overblown,
and especially when there really is no true commitment to
that letter of intent any longer.

Speaker 1 (31:50):
It's just kind of a it's a hollow thing that
is really a big deal.

Speaker 6 (31:54):
Now, yeah, because there's no commitment at all in college sports,
and I the half thing I used to like a lot,
but I'll never forget when Terrence Ross sat down with
his hats in front of him and picked up the
U dub hat and everyone freaked out, and an hour
later he was going to Kentucky m I.

Speaker 7 (32:07):
Was like, well, what was the point.

Speaker 6 (32:09):
We all sat there through that, and then all you
had to do was walk away from the table, take
a phone call from John Klapari and change your mind.

Speaker 2 (32:15):
Mmm.

Speaker 1 (32:16):
Yeah, yeah, Well it's not the same that he used
to be. But today is National signing Day, it is,
and so Scott Eckland is going to join us today
at nine o'clock. Bucky will be long gone by then.
It will be in Palm Springs mode.

Speaker 7 (32:30):
He'll be sipping my ties all the time.

Speaker 2 (32:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (32:32):
I'll still be driving, so I'll be sipping anything.

Speaker 5 (32:34):
But I'm gonna be thinking about It's not about it
on my way to the bathroom when don't we I'm
gonna I might have a Malibu rum an orange juice
on the plane.

Speaker 1 (32:41):
Mmm, just because it's you know, coconuty.

Speaker 6 (32:43):
Yeah, it was also real good Hollywood. You do vodka
orange juice with a splash of crayon. It's a great
breakfast drink.

Speaker 1 (32:51):
Sounds great too.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (32:53):
So by like you dub the top twenty recruiting class,
I mean there are different publications for it, but not
at USC might end up with the number one recruiting
class this year, which kind of came out of nowhere.
All of us that have felt the program is declining
beneath Lincoln Riley's feet. Well, he's rallying in the recruiting

(33:15):
arena at least this year.

Speaker 7 (33:16):
And he's still got to coach them.

Speaker 1 (33:19):
They didn't have a bad year this year, not this year. Yeah,
they were pretty good this year. Yeah, But yeah, USC
has a chance to be number one. And as I
said earlier, like ninety six percent of people have already committed,
which is another thing. I mean, it's not what it
used to be. They have to get their nil stuff
in order, so they usually decide before they even start
their senior years of high school. Now it's a financial thing.

(33:43):
So very few players on the top three hundred list
are even going to be making a decision today. But
I'm sure some eyes to dot tease to cross for
Jed Fish and the Dogs will talk about it today
at nine o'clock. Speaking of the Dogs, Cam Cleveland will
join us next our final conversation of the season with
Cam will recap what he made of the husky second

(34:06):
season under coach Fish right here on Sports Radio ninety
three point three kJ RFM.
