Peterson left wing up the floor, pulls up for long three.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
D Mary Close.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
Thirty six point seven ago, talks within one after being
ten the rights just four minutes ago.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Tony castor Cone on the call last night Ready Ort
Sports Radio ninety three point three k JRFM, the big
ten opener for Danny Sprinkle on the Washington Huskies. They
were down sixteen, were less than five minutes to go.
Rallied feverishly, as you could tell from that one call
from Tony Castra Cone, but did come up a little
bit short, losing to UCLA eighty two to eighty. Uh Man,
(00:55):
was there some shooting on display last night? Both teams
shot over fifty percent from the yield, both shot over
seventy percent from the line, Both shot over thirty eight
percent from three Problem is UCLA shot forty five percent
from three point land and they end up winning it
by a final score of eighty two to eighty.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
Colors are ugly.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
Up Next for the dogs will be the USC Trojans.
They've got pretty colored.
Speaker 4 (01:22):
Yeah, yeah, it ish if they hadn't screwed over the
fact twelve.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Well, yeah today colors, pretty colors got a lot uglier
the moment they ruined the Pact Conference. USC is the
next opponent three o'clock this Saturday, and that will be
in Los Angeles, where Ashley used to own that town.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
Yeah I did.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
Yeah. Time for your Frostbreed Corps light choice chill headlines
here on a Thursday, A bucket list Thursday. By the way,
it's just Ashley, Ryan and myself here for the next
couple of days. But let's talk about what else is
going on in the sports world. The College Football confer
Championships will be held this weekend. A lot of games
(02:03):
on Friday, the Big Boys won't play until Saturday. The
Big Ten Conference championship game featuring one versus two Ohio
State versus Indiana will be played at five o'clock Sunday
on Fox. Selection Sunday, we'll map out the twelve team
field for the second ever real NCAA College Football Tournament.
So we're just a few three days, as a matter
(02:25):
of fact, away from Selection Sunday and knowing the entire
tournament field and then left a big, big gu National
Signing Day was yesterday and the Washington Huskies finished with
It depends on what rankings you look at, but it
sounded like Scott Ecklund really slapped my hand yesterday when
I suggested a top twenty recruiting class. No no, no, no,
(02:48):
no TOAP thirteen. Buddy, Yeah, get with the program. Then
he washed my mouth out with soap right here on
the airwave. So good recruiting class. Terrific recruiting class for
Jedfish his second full off season in which to improve
the recruits. Meanwhile, the transfer portal will open on January second,
(03:11):
so that's obviously turning into a much bigger and bigger
deal every single year until they change rules. That's going
to be a major couple of weeks for every program
in the country, including the one here in Seattle. Thursday
Night Football will start week number fourteen of the season
Dallas at Detroit Man. This is interesting on a lot
(03:33):
of levels. You've got Detroit slumping right now, Dallas getting
red hot right now, and yet it's kind of feels
like a playoff game because there are so many good
teams this year in the National Football League, or at
least so many teams with very good records so far
in the National Football League this year, so it might
have like a playoff feel to it. Plus, with this
(03:55):
being the last week of the regular season of fantasy football.
In a lot of leagues, I would imagine everybody's either
got a cowboy or a lion, or we'll be facing
a cowboy or a lion in trying to get into
the playoffs. So it'll be fun from that perspective as well.
We'll talk about the Seahawks and Falcons for an entire
hour coming up at eight o'clock twelve Man Roundtable today
(04:17):
with Greg Bell and with Hugh Millan. Kracken will be
in Edmonton taking on the Oilers tonight at six o'clock
the Crack and riding a three game losing streak. They
haven't scored on the power play in four games, so
let's get that going tonight at least as they take
on Connor McDavid and the Oilers tonight at six right
here on Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM. And Yes,
(04:39):
Major League Baseball Winter meetings start in three days. Make
sure you make your travel arrangements for that. There might
not be a hotel available to wherever you're going to
be with family during the winter meetings.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
Oh yeah, yeah, you better be yeah, so check on that.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Also, check the weather. Last thing you want to do
is be stranded on a roadway somewhere and miss a trade.
Speaker 4 (04:59):
I heard that Triple A is predicting record travel numbers
on the road.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
So just be prepared.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
I mean, it's just a joyous time of the year.
I just don't want you to run into any kind
of difficulty.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
No, just make sure you pack extra snacks just in
case the there's a lot of people.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
In your stuck in traffic.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
Yeah, and a hat, oh you need to add, and
an extra coat and some gloves. My mom still says
that to me every single day, fifty four year old man.
Every time I talked to her, Will you have an
extra hat and coat in your car? Don't you?
Speaker 3 (05:29):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (05:29):
Yeah, it was terrible winter.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
Well we learned nothing from nineteen twenty three that you
better be prepared to drive into a winter store.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
That is the lesson we kicked. Mom was right.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
The mom was right, all right.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
So those are your headlines, brought to you by frost
brewed to cores like shoes Chill the Washington HUSKIESA as
I mentioned, nice signing day thirteenth in the country by
various different ranking systems out there an eight and four season.
We talked about it at length Ashley and I to
start the show today. Yeah, we were open to having
(06:04):
being sensationally overwhelmed at any point during the first two
years of the Jedfish administration. Yeah, we were open to
the idea that he blew away expectations and Washington would
be vying for a playoff spot this weekend. But when
you step back from it, it's been a real check
(06:26):
mark kind of couple of years.
Speaker 5 (06:27):
You know.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
Jedfish got the team to be six and six in
a year in which the roster was devastated and he
had to hurry and play catch up to dig out
of a hole, and played a lot of freshmen last year,
and then in the second year eight and four with
a competitive couple of games against two of the best
teams in the nation. I'm not saying they came close
(06:49):
to winning those games or didn't get outplayed, but it
was competitive.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
It was not blowouts, that's for sure.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
It was the year before YEP, So progress was shown
on that front. The recruitinges keep getting better under Jedfish.
His reputation of how much ahead he is of this
NIL process, those reports are very positive for Jedfish. Yes,
there are always rumors about him going somewhere else, but
(07:16):
we also should have expected that too, So in terms
of realistic expectations, it seems like Jedfish has checked the
boxes in his first two years and he is definitely
staying for a third or at least that's according to
Jed in his conversation yesterday with Softy and with Dick
Fane on our station here at Sports Radio ninety three
point three KJARFM. And in case you missed that conversation,
(07:39):
we felt this would be a great opportunity to replace
some of it for you. So here is the Washington
Usky's head football coach, Jedfish, sitting down with our own
Dave Maler and Richard L. Fane to talk some Huskies football.
And we'll start with his response to Dick's question about
what needs to be done in the community, on campus,
(08:00):
within the building to generate more hype for this football
team heading into twenty twenty six.
Speaker 6 (08:07):
I think that we just have to be behind our
team and the more positive, the more positive we are,
you know, the more positive the national media will look
at us. But you know, there's gonna be a there's
a prove it, there's a proven world that we live
in and It's going to be our job that when
(08:28):
we host Indiana, when we host ten State uh here,
that we're gonna you know, we've.
Speaker 5 (08:34):
Got to come out on top. And we host Iowa here,
we've got to come out on top. And when we
go to Michigan State, and when we go to USC
and when we go to Purdue and you know, we
go to Minnesota, whatever the games are that we have,
we got to come out on top. And if you win,
you'll be RANKI. And that's what I tell our team.
Just win. If you keep winning, it doesn't matter where
you start, you'll finish in the top twelve. And that's
(08:56):
going to be our goal, no doubt.
Speaker 7 (08:58):
Jed fish with us and Joe tell you what you
Dick and I mentioned the other day that we're gonna
have you on and the text line just blows up
with questions for you, right, I mean, we gotta Jaed,
we gotta have you come down here over the offseason
like he did last summer and sit in the studio
and just stare at the text line for about an hour.
All right, just see what people are asking, what the
(09:18):
questions they want to know, the answers they want to know.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
Can I pull a couple off the text line from
the audience for you here, do you mind before you
take off? Is that all right?
Speaker 5 (09:28):
Sure? Go ahead?
Speaker 2 (09:29):
All right?
Speaker 7 (09:29):
So this one's for the two five three. Ask Jed
why he didn't run the ball more against Oregon.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
Mohammed was the hot hand and he took him out
of the game too early.
Speaker 7 (09:38):
What do you say to people who have that take
on the game with the Ducks?
Speaker 5 (09:44):
Yeah, I mean, I think we ran out thirty three times.
We probably could have kept running some more. I think
there were some opportunities that you know, that we probably
could have given him the ball a few more times.
I also think that we had some great opportunities there
to hit out some path that we didn't, and then
we hit on some that we needed to. So the
(10:04):
last seven plays of the game or five, we're passes
because we're down by twelve. Other than that, I think
we we ran the ball pretty decent. I love the
fact that we outgained them by sixty yards. It tells
me that we went from you know, a year ago,
they outrushed us by over o one hundred yards. A
year ago, they had eleven more first downs than we
(10:25):
did this week. This year we had one first down
more than they did and we outgained them by sixty
so we're getting there. But yeah, we got to keep
running the ball and keep doing a great team that
can do both.
Speaker 7 (10:35):
Softy, I'm considering buying season tickets for next year. I
love the group that's potentially coming back. Can you please
ask Jed if he can guarantee he'll be coaching Washington
in twenty twenty six.
Speaker 5 (10:47):
Respond to that, I will be coaching Washington in twenty
twenty six. He should buy his tickets. Okay, they should
buy their tickets. There was a there was a lot
of article and a lot of rumors about me now
coaching Washington, but that those ever came from me, And
I really one hundred percent believe in this team. I
(11:09):
believe in the jump that we made from year one
to year two, and I had zero interest in seeing
anything other than the jump we're going to make from
year two to three. And it would be very nice
to one day have a ten year at a place
that people can look back on and say, wow, that
was one hell of a run.
Speaker 7 (11:27):
Well before you go, Jed, to get to that point
you want to get to and look, you know, I
think all of us see a bright future starting obviously
this offseason, you know, heading in the next year. But
Demand the season he had. I think if you were
to have told people at the start of the year that
Demand would have the year he had numbers wise, especially
against the big boys right Ohio State, Michigan, Oregon, I.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
Think a lot of folks would have been disappointed.
Speaker 7 (11:51):
You know, twelve sacks, five picks, two touchdowns in those
games and you went oh and three. So how do
you assess from your perspective the year that demon just had.
Speaker 5 (12:00):
Yeah, I mean I talked to our team a little
bit about it, you know, and I said, you, guys,
when you look at last year, we were one hundred
and fourth in the country and scoring. This year we
were twenty third. We were one hundred and first and
third down this year we were seventh. We were seventy
fifth in the red zone, this year a fourteen, and
we were ninety seventh in touchdowns and this year a fifth.
So when you look at that type of jump, you
(12:21):
got to look at a twelve game You got to
look at a twelve game schedule, just like we did
a year ago. When you look at games against some
of the teams that were the better teams. I would
say that, you know, statistically, it wasn't much different than
you know, a guy that might have been taking in
the first round against teams like Michigan and Ohio State.
(12:42):
There's some really good defenses. I think Ohio State had
the record for the greatest defense in college football this year,
and I think they let up one hundred points or
less than one hundred points all season long. These guys
are elite, and we're working to become elite. But the
mom's nineteen, and when demon's twenty, he's going to be
(13:03):
better than when he was nineteen. And I think that
it's easy to get so excited about the mom when
we score fifty and sixty and seventy points and games
that we forget about the challenge. When you start playing
teams like Michigan, Oregon, Wisconsin in the snow, rain, whatever,
and we get real disappointed in certain outcomes and we
(13:27):
forget the fact that all we're going to do is
get better. And I believe that when you look at
what he's done overall, I thought he's had an elite
year for where he was as a true freshman. This
was his first year ever as a starter now as
a true sophomore, and he didn't red shirt when he
got here. He played right away, and his receivers were
too true freshmen. He was playing with two true freshman
(13:50):
out of three. He was playing with a true sophomore
tight end, he was playing with a true freshman at tackle,
a true sophomore running back. When Jonah got hurt and
the truth, you know, and really with no backup behind them,
that were the two true freshmen that were behind them
both got hurt. So, you know, as I look at
what we've done and how we've done, and I think
(14:10):
that he's done some great things. And I can't wait
to watch what Deman does next year. When now you're
playing against those teams and you have a year of experience,
those teams are really really good on defense, and that's
been proven across the country.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
Jetfish with Softy and with Dick Fane, excellent job by
those fellas. They do an excellent job every single day
in the afternoon starting at three o'clock right here at
Sports Radio ninety three point three kjar FM. If you
want to hear the entire conversation with coach Fish, you
can do so at our website to ninety three three
kjar dot com. Just gobble it all up. And of
(14:47):
course you can check out their podcast every single day
their entire show just put in podcast form while the
show is going on. So all of that right at
your fingertips. There's a lot to discuss. Ashley and I
have already had a commonnversation this morning about some of
our fishues that we've had, but also wanting to make
sure that we don't let get in the way. And
(15:08):
I thought Demon Williams would be more consistently great boy.
There were some times I'm not sure I agreed with
that play calling, and I thought he was supposed to
be an offensive genius. You know, why didn't you give
Adam Muhammad the ball when Oregon doesn't seem didn't seem
to be able to stop him. Yeah, there are a
(15:29):
lot of those things. But I'm going to tell you
something that.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
You had a look on your face, so I'm excited
to hear this.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
I just I mean that conversation, the part that we
chose to replay for you. The question started with Dick
Fane asking about how we got screwed over with the
preseason ranking. Basically, kind I just don't get it, and
I know you and I have argued about it. I've
argued about it with Bucky, and I've argued about it
with Cam Cleveland, and I just don't get it anymore.
(15:59):
It doesn't impact anything anymore. The preseason rankings.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
I was, I don't.
Speaker 4 (16:04):
I think preseason rankings are stupid. I have never cared
about them. I think they're dumb because you're just basing
it on what you think a team's gonna do, now
what a team's done.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
But there's nothing wrong with that. I think that's wonderful.
I think that that builds hype. I think that you know,
you spend your preseason and you get a preseason magazine
and you want to read up on your team, but
you probably are going to, if you're a huge college
football fan, read up on who they say it's going
to be the best teams. It doesn't impact anything anymore,
does not. I think once upon a time it did
impact things, and that's unfortunate. But then again, I boycotted
(16:35):
bowl games for twenty five years. Nobody else listening did. Yeah,
it's not the pole's fault, Hey you Dick Fane is
still blaming the knife for the murder. Hey, knives are
great knives chop up broccoli and neat so that makes
it easier to eat where or we be without knives?
(16:56):
Can they be used for the wrong thing? Yeah, yes,
absolutely they can. And I think that college football's done
a terrible job of giving the polls too much credit.
They used to let the polls pick the national champion. Yeah,
it doesn't happen anymore. Like Texas Is started the season
(17:17):
number one. They're not making the tournament Nope, And they've
got an argument to make the tournament. But if the
polls mattered so much, Texas would be making the tournament
this year with a nine to three record. This up game,
but they're not going to make the tournament. Penn State
started the season number two. Are they still in the
top twenty five because they started the year at number two?
Speaker 1 (17:40):
F No?
Speaker 2 (17:42):
I mean Clemson fell out of the polls immediately. So
what that sports writers thought they were going to NFL's
pro scouts said Clemson had seventeen draft picks on their roster,
so they thought they were going to be better and
they weren't. And they fell out of the polls almost
immediately and haven't been able to recover. I mean Oklahoma
started at eighteen, there at eight. A and M started
(18:04):
at nineteen. There at seven, Indiana started at twenty, there
at two, Ole Miss started at twenty one, there at six,
Texas Tech started at twenty three. They're at four. I mean,
the polls do not keep you from your success. Losing
four games out of twelve keeps you from being ranked?
Speaker 5 (18:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (18:22):
Kay, can we please stop blaming the polls? Still it
is twenty twenty five. I'm sorry that the polls, you know,
seduced your aunt Tilly and ran off with her and
left your cousins without a mother, because that's the way
that people act like. You can't forgive the polls for
what they did to you in nineteen eighty four. They
(18:46):
do not keep the Washington Huskies from achieving greatness. That's
not what kept the Huskies from being a playoff team
this year. Losing four games kept them from being a
playoff team.
Speaker 4 (18:55):
Losing to Wisconsins, for sure what kept them from being
a playoff team. I think it's interesting because even if they.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
Hadn't lost that, they weren't going to get in with
three losses.
Speaker 4 (19:03):
Well no, but I'm saying no, But I'm saying they
had an opportunity going if they would have beaten Wisconsin
going into the Oregon game, they would have had an opportunity, yes,
but what that Wisconsin loss, there was no opportunity. And
I just it's interesting with the preseason polls. Again, I
don't care about them. It does not I don't look
at it and be like, oh my god, my team
is ranked number five. We're going to win the national championship.
(19:25):
I understand the point of them. I understand the preseason hype.
I think Dick Fane was kind of more saying like,
how are we going to get more hype around this
program and more preseason eyes on us? But it doesn't
matter if you have preseason eyes on you. It matters
what you do during the actual season.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
I mean, the facts are right, and I'm not saying
that Dick was saying we didn't make the tournament because
we were right glow. He's obviously not saying that. But
that's where the conversation started that we replayed, and I
was just like, I don't know. I mean, I guess
I'm just gonna have to just sit in the room
quietly in the corner because I am grow mostly outnumbered
when it comes to this topic of conversation. But man,
(20:04):
if you are still thinking that the polls are affecting
the preseason polls are affecting the postseason polls, you're out
of your mind.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
I don't think one has anything to do with each other.
Speaker 4 (20:14):
I just don't quite understand the point of the preseason
other than to build hype.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
Well, but that's that is important. Yeah, building hype, getting
people excited.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
It has no bearing on what actually happens in the season.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
Yesh, yeah, not at all. And fortunately we have twelve
games to sort all of this out.
Speaker 3 (20:30):
To actually play football and get to the end of
the year.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
I mean, I mean, is Texas Tech jump from twenty
three to four because of hype?
Speaker 3 (20:37):
No?
Speaker 2 (20:37):
They earned that, Yeah, they moved that that direction. Is
Oregon rank fifth in the country because they started the
year at number seven?
Speaker 4 (20:44):
No, it's because they have a bunch of uniforms, Yes, exactly.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
All right, Factor Fiction coming up next. Plus what an
interesting week we got coming up in the National Football League.
And it starts tonight. Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM.
(21:16):
All right, Factor Fiction comes your way at seven thirty five.
We're four minutes away from that, just a tie a
bow on that previous conversation. By the way, Okay, you
are right, by the way, I am. Everybody's right. Oh,
the polls should have never preseason polls should have never
meant as much as they should have. They are purely
(21:37):
for marketing, which I think is a valuable tool.
Speaker 3 (21:41):
I definitely see the point of that part.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
Didn't Dick Vane and Jedfish cover that that all he
wanted was to get some hype going people get excited. Well,
that's what the polls do for all of college football.
That makes those numbers mean something next to it gets
you excited, and that's all they should have ever been for. Yeah,
it's not the polls fault that college football was so
stupid for one hundred years that they used them to
(22:04):
determine a champion. That's on the idiots that were running
college football, which there have been a lot of idiots
that have been running college football for cential So in theory,
you are right, it should never have been such a
aggressively used in trying to determine the value of a team.
(22:26):
But fortunately we are in a world where it doesn't
matter anymore and we should be excited about that rather
than still blaming the polls for crimes that were committed
back in the day when people weren't nearly as outspoken
about how they shouldn't be used this way. So you're saying,
give the polls a break, man, I'm saying, the polls
have never been to blame. Yeah, it's been college football,
(22:48):
and college football finally has fixed their postseason for the
most part. There's still some tweaks that we can make
to it, but we finally have a legitimate postseason, and
now they are using the polls the way that they
should be during the course of this I get that,
all right. Speaking of college football and a little bit
about the National Football League because I was going to
(23:10):
preview the NFL in this segment. Great game tonight, I mean,
such a fun game tonight. Detroit and Dallas, I mean
just fun on a lot of levels. We've got Cincinnati
and Buffalo this weekend. We got Burrow versus Josh Allen.
I was going to take Cincinnati in this game for
factor fiction, but it's already been taken. Joe Burrow apparently
both sides.
Speaker 3 (23:30):
I think that game, yeah, both sides.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
Joe Burrow apparently eighteen and three against the spread when
he gets three points or more to his side, So
that's a pretty good number. Joe Burrow tends to step up,
and it's not like it's his comeback game. He got
the rust knocked off last.
Speaker 3 (23:47):
Week and clearly that worked out pretty well soon.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
Yeah for the Bengals, Yeah, that was his Rust game
and they blew out the Baltimore Ravens in his Rust game.
So I do like Cincinnati in that game, just didn't
get the chance to pick it. And then Pittsburgh takes
on Baltimore this week. Did you hear the Ben Roethlisberger
statement yesterday on this podcast? This is interesting, Okay Roethlisberger
and I don't think he and Mike Tomlin have the
(24:10):
best relationship, despite what beautiful music they played together. Ben's
also strangely angry, and I don't know why it feels
like this, like tracks, He's strangely angry at the world
and people that he used to play with. But in
his podcast he said that it is time for Tomlin
(24:31):
and the Steelers to part ways, and I think part
of it is I don't like seeing him. I don't
like seeing the fans chant fire Mike Tomlin. He's just
earn more than that.
Speaker 3 (24:43):
Yeah, he has.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
And so his statement was, I think it'd be good
for Mike if he just they just decided to you
know the times over twenty one years. How often does
an NFL head coach last twenty one years? Well, and
you never want one program.
Speaker 4 (24:54):
You never want someone like that that's a legend right
to go out with fans booing him or one him
to be fired.
Speaker 3 (25:01):
You want him to go out on his own.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
Here was his suggestion, Mike Tomlin should take the penn
State head coaching.
Speaker 3 (25:07):
Okay, well, I don't know how that I believe that.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
Oh I love that.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
Oh do you?
Speaker 2 (25:11):
I think that's great because he loves the area. Yeah,
known in the area. He went as far as saying,
Mike Tomlin will be a better college coach than he
was a pro coach. And so he said, with Penn
State having difficulty finding somebody, if he doesn't want to
leave Pennsylvania, then why how about that as a solution.
(25:33):
I'll say this about Tomlin, if he becomes available, he's
not going to have a shortage of offers. So that
does show you the quality of the coach that you're
dealing with here. But maybe it has gotten stale. I mean,
that's an awful long stretch of mediocrity, and they're going
to do it again this year. They're going to end
up nine and eight again this year. All right, let's
play some Factor fiction. Where's that to go?
Speaker 8 (25:53):
Glad you're with us, it's your shot at our weekly
thousand bucks and the ten thousand dollars grand prize. It's
Factor Fiction, probably presented by Lucky Ego casino and hotel
where every day feels lucky.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
Fact Door Fiction.
Speaker 8 (26:08):
Is on Sports Radio ninety three point three KJR FM.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
Well, you've got one thousand dollars to win. One of
you out there as ten thousand dollars to win. We've
got the in house, no money given to kjar Factor
Fiction show bragging rights to win.
Speaker 5 (26:29):
We have.
Speaker 3 (26:30):
It's very it's almost more important than one thousand dollars.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
I think it's more important than ten thousand dollars. Frankly priceless.
If Rich Moore wanted to give me ten thousand dollars
or we win Factor Fiction, we win Factor Fiction and
we get to have a year of taunting of our mates.
Speaker 3 (26:46):
You take that, you'd take that, I would take the
ten thousand.
Speaker 2 (26:50):
So really what a bad decision.
Speaker 3 (26:53):
Yeah, terrible decision by me.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
So obviously we got a nailed these things this week.
We got a little bit of a lead. But we
can't take that.
Speaker 3 (27:04):
Lightly, No, we cannot.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
So I've already had my two best picks in the
NFL taken from me by these fools, and so let's
go ahead and go with my third selection in the
National Football League. All right, As Ashley knows, as Bucky knows,
and if you've been listening to the show all season long,
you probably know I'm not a big believer in the
Miami Dolphins this year. Even with their recent upsurge, I
(27:28):
still don't think it's all that real. So for them
to go on the road, and who knows what kind
of weather you're gonna get in New York, and the
Dolphins never played good, good in bad weather, cold weather.
They're gonna be taking on the New York Jets. The
Jets are getting points at home.
Speaker 4 (27:45):
They're trying to get that would it be their fourth
win or their fifth win?
Speaker 2 (27:49):
Fourth win in six games. They've gone three and two
over their last five, so they're playing The Jets are
getting points at home, and even though Miami has turned
their season around unexpectedly to me under Mike McDaniel, same
things happening in New York. Those guys with the Jets
are playing hard for Aaron Glint as they are for
(28:11):
Mike McDaniel, and I got to give him credit for that.
But the truth of the matter is the Jets are
playing better than the Dolphins right now. They've won three
of their last five and they've covered four of their
last five. The Dolphins have run into some pretty convenient
scheduling to them. Meanwhile, the Jets are covering against the
likes of the Ravens and the Bengals and others. And
(28:32):
so I'm gonna say that the New York Jets are
gonna win this game at home against the Miami Dolphins.
So if you're gonna give me points as well, I'll
take those two points that you're giving me, and I'll
go with the New York Jets. Didn't think that I
would bet on the New York Jets all season long,
but I'm going to do that. I think they're just
I think they're playing slightly better football at Miami and
(28:53):
people don't realize that.
Speaker 5 (28:54):
No.
Speaker 4 (28:55):
And I actually had this on my list yesterday when
I was making my pick as a possibility, and I
think it's a good pick, especially you know me.
Speaker 3 (29:03):
I like it when the home team is getting points.
That's like my favorite thing to do.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
I like when I think a team's going to win
out right and they're getting there.
Speaker 3 (29:11):
Yeah, that's fun.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
So those are usually the ones I look for. So
I'm taking the Jets plus two at home against the
Miami Dolphins this week. And if you agree with that pick,
go ahead and text Fact to four nine four to
five one. If you disagree with it, text Fiction to
four nine four five one. If you're right, we enter
your name into a drawing for one thousand dollars in
cash to be pulled at the end of the week.
(29:32):
It is our last thousand dollars cash prize drawing that
we're going to have this Factor Fiction season. And of course,
all of you that are vying for the ten thousand
dollars jackpot this year crucial. This could come down to
one pick one game, so make sure you're playing every
single time we play, and best of luck to all
of you, even though that luck that I'm wishing will
(29:54):
only apply to one person in the end. Sorry about it, Yeah,
sorry about that. It's all brought to you by our
brand news sponsored Lucky Eagle Casino and Hotel. Lucky Eagle
Casino and Hotel is back to twenty four hour gaming
at Luckyeagle dot Com on Fridays and Saturdays. All right, Next,
we've got some analytics to pour over, but not the
(30:16):
type of analytics you're thinking of. Sports Radio ninety three
point three KHARFM Man Roundtable comes your way, and Bucky
won't get in the way to finally gab Gab gab
during the roundtable. So no Bucky Jacobson today, it's Ashley
and I. So he's left us to discuss holiday analytics
here today. We've done this once per day for the
(30:37):
last three days and it's all based off of the
fact that coach Holmgren hates analytics and he hates when
people prematurely celebrate the holidays.
Speaker 3 (30:47):
And I think it's funny.
Speaker 2 (30:48):
Yeah, and that steps on both of my feet. So anyway,
Holmgren inspired holiday analytics segment every day this week and
here we go. Ashley Vegas sets the over under for
Turkey meals during the holidays at one and a half. Obviously,
people do the Thanksgiving a lot of people. Most people
(31:09):
do the Thanksgiving turkey and then a lot of people
repeat it at Christmas. And yet had a conversation with
my little sister the other day. She goes, it's so good,
why don't we do it more often? A lot of
people ask that questions reetart. But nonetheless we tend to
just leave big turkey meals for the holidays. So the
(31:30):
over under is one and a half. Now, over the
course of time, statistics have suggested that you should eat
no more and no fewer than four point eight six
turkey meals during the span of the holidays, and that
includes leftovers most often, if you're going to make a big,
giant bird, you're gonna end up with leftovers.
Speaker 5 (31:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (31:51):
Now, Bucky eats thirty six point five turkey meals. He's
a lot, Yes, he loves it. It feels like to me,
I'm not sure you're eating turkey. You might be eating
an elk.
Speaker 4 (32:02):
I don't think anyone loves turkey enough to eat at
thirty six times.
Speaker 3 (32:05):
But except except Yeah, that's what makes no sense.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
Yeah, but most people like Okay, if you're doing it
both Christmas and Thanksgiving, and then you believe at least
one more, yeah, leftover day and then maybe a little
bit over leftover. Still, you might get up to around
five meals of turkey food.
Speaker 4 (32:24):
I could see that. Okay, Yeah, that's an understandable amount.
Speaker 2 (32:27):
Now, new analytics, and this is what we're bringing into
the equation. They suggest that there are better things to
eat than leftover turkey.
Speaker 3 (32:36):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
And although one shouldn't waste food, it's the holidays and
pure enjoyment of the season would require you simply eat
two point one five meals of turkey during the holidays. Ashley,
do you believe in analytics.
Speaker 3 (32:52):
I do believe in the analytics.
Speaker 4 (32:54):
Yes, I would say two point one five is probably
too much.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
And I very Dan Campbell in this area. Yeah, you
guys weigh in on the analytics.
Speaker 3 (33:05):
Yeah, yeah, analytics.
Speaker 4 (33:07):
I think I'm gonna I'm gonna agree with this. I mean, obviously,
I've told you guys before, we don't do turkey in
our house because nobody in my family really likes turkey.
Speaker 3 (33:15):
I'm good with turkeys.
Speaker 2 (33:16):
Weird.
Speaker 4 (33:16):
Yeah, I've never had a problem with turkey. I but
I have always just covered it in gravy, and it's
all the stuff that goes with turkey, which I think
most people would say, well, it's not the turkey itself,
it's all the stuff with the turkey, the combination. Well,
we just do that with red meat. But I would
still be fine having turkey at Thanksgiving and a day
of leftovers and then that's it, And yeah, that would
(33:36):
be good.
Speaker 2 (33:37):
Then you fall underneath the analytics.
Speaker 4 (33:39):
Yeah, two point one five. Like maybe I get one
little bite of turkey on the third day exactly, Yeah, yeah, yeah,
that works for me.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
Maybe there's a little bit of gravy and you just
you know, pour it and that's the whole Yeah, yeah,
something like that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, So you're believing in
the analytics today. It's very progressive thinker on your part.
And I didn't think and you've spared a lot of turkeys.
Think about it. Everybody just did two point one five
meals of turkey during the holidays. How many actual turkeys lives?
(34:05):
I mean they could run off, you know and go
backpacking in Europe.
Speaker 4 (34:10):
Instead they all got smoked by Bucky exactly.
Speaker 2 (34:15):
So you are definitely in it, and you are seeing
more and more people well Christmas, really people do and
I love this. What's my culture? What's my you know,
it's and I'm not just talking about like praising your God.
I'm talking about like my buddy Vince. They his last
name's Marada, and so that's an Italian name, and they
(34:36):
do an Italian food feast. That's their Christmas. And he
didn't even think any He thought everybody did that. Yeah,
when I first met him, I love that.
Speaker 5 (34:45):
You know.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
When I grew up, there were so many it was
kind of like a snacks morgasbord. That was sort of
the Christmas. We didn't have like some big, you know,
meal like Thanksgiving. It was sort of like snacks all
day long and plates and trays and trays of snacks
would come out, like, oh, let me.
Speaker 3 (35:03):
Try That's that's what we do. Yeah on Christmas Day.
Speaker 2 (35:05):
That's been my Christmas over the years. But nonetheless, analytics
are saying, yeah, you don't have to give into these
stodgeonly ways of the past. There's a new way to
eat at the holidays, and it's just not centered around turkey.
Speaker 3 (35:19):
Embrace it people.
Speaker 2 (35:22):
Yes, you don't want to end up as the what
was the Chargers coach day? Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, you
don't end up like him with with your turkey meal.
But I didn't go well for him all right, twelve
Man round Table Brandon Staley, Yeah, that's right. Twelve Man
Roundtable is next with Hugh and with Greg Sports Radio
