Speaker 1 (00:00):
Broadcasting live from the Queen Anne Beer Hole. This is
the twenty sixth annual Mullerin Millan Mock Draft, presented by
Coors Light by R and R Foundation Specialist and brought
to you by Queen Anne Beer Hall and Delta airlineses
Now with Commissioner Dick Fane at the podium, here's Hugh
Millan and Dave Sudey Muller.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
All right, boys, it goes here we go on a
busy Wednesday afternoon from the Queen Anne Beer Hall for
the annual Maler Millin Mock Draft. That's right, let me
hear it. Come on, let's get going, Let's get going.
Let's have some fun here, boys and girls. This is
actually I need to correct something right off the record.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
And you know what, I was.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
Actually too lazy to talk to anybody about this because
the promo has been running the entire week on the
radio station. You actually pointed out to me, you know,
they got the wrong date. This is twenty seven, by
the way, not forty.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
But we'll go with it.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
Well, here's the thing. So, Hugh, when we first started
this thing, I just figured it out. Hugh Millan was
seventeen years younger than I am. Now when we first began,
I'm doing this, you were You're thirty four years old, Okay,
I think I'm even nine when you first started doing
the mock draft.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
But nineteen ninety nine, well the first one, the pimplejuice
was everywhere.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
Yeah, exactly. Oh that's disgusting. People are eating here here,
What the hell you're doing for crying out loud? But
nineteen ninety nine was the first one. Apparently nothing that
happened before the year two thousand even matters, So maybe
they just kind of wiped it all from the record.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
Y two k just kind of blew everything up.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
But twenty seven years we've been doing this mock draft.
I'm here to tell you right now, I'm getting to
thirty and I'm done, all right, So enjoy it for
the next three years now because I'm out today. First
of all, I want to introduce a few people. Uh,
you know him, you love him. Nobody in the h
I was gonna say the city, but really nobody in
the country, and I believe his his buddies could probably
(01:44):
attest to this. Nobody in the world does what hum
Millin does when it comes to football and breaking down film,
because really nobody can, and honestly, nobody really wants to.
Nobody I know does what Humulin does. Let's here from
my guy Humillan here, our residents NFL spurt, our quarterback
of our team, Hugh Milling is here. Also to my
left over here. You know him, you love him. He's
(02:06):
parking Zaga part husky, but he's all Dick. Dick Faine
is here with us here at Queen Anne Beer, all right.
And the guy that makes the show go, the guy
that puts up with all of our nonsense every single day,
Jackson Felts, the beard in Wonder hanging out with us here,
Producer Jackson.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
And then you may you may not know who this
guy is, but the f and.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
New guy on kJ are. How many people have been
tweeting me who's the new guy? I mean, I hear
that from you people constantly. Mark James, our new ten
to one guy is here as well, and I'm sure
a lot of people are shocked to see he doesn't
look as grotesque as he sounds, by the way.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
So he's actually a good looking guy.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
And then I do want to introduce one more person
here before the draft begins. Back row there with the
black shirt, Abraham Lincoln is with us here. Will you
stand up, please, sir, stand up and say hello, Abe
Lincoln is with us here today.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
Is that nuts?
Speaker 4 (02:53):
That is?
Speaker 3 (02:54):
That is scary man.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
I mean that is the offspring of Abe Lincoln baby
right there. He's one of our general managers. So we've
been doing this a long time, twenty seven years. Big
thanks to the Beer Hall for having us. Big thanks
to Delta Airlines. Are gonna give us one thousand dollars
voucher for the winner of the mock Draft Taco Time
gift card simply Seattle dot com gift card. We got
some baseball tickets, all kinds of cool stuff happening at
(03:16):
the Beer Hall, including eight dollars smash burgers, ten dollars
Leaders of Beer here at the Beer Hall. The NFL
Menual run all day tomorrow and Friday for the NFL Draft.
But in twenty seven years, yeah, there's got to be
a couple of hits, a couple of misses, a couple
of swings, a couple of home runs, Grand Slam strikeouts.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
What stands out to you?
Speaker 4 (03:36):
There's three that there's three that just gnaw at me.
In twenty seven years. We mentioned in our talk with Ian,
how on earth did we miss Aaron Donald? How did
twelve other teams part of the Rams miss on Aaron Donald?
But just I just for me, I just give myself
a big, flat freaking f as a failure to not
(03:57):
see that coming number two. Now, this is a regret
that I have that I didn't I didn't pump it
up enough.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
Micah Parsons got my attention the year because he was
in a competition with Justin Fields and they had a
documentary they had They had a bet going that Michael
Parson says, I'll beat you in a forty yard dash.
As it turned out, he won the bet of the combine.
And you think about how athletic Justin Fields was coming out,
and so I said, Michael Parsons, Hey, this guy's gonna
(04:27):
be something.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
But I think I said it once.
Speaker 4 (04:29):
Yeah, and I kind of said it with there wasn't
a lot on the fastball, huh. It was kind of
a Jamie Moyer fastball, you know, kind of like you know, uh,
when do they say kakai right down Broadway?
Speaker 3 (04:39):
So you wish he had maybe driven that point hard.
Speaker 4 (04:42):
I think, like like like I did with DK And
then the other one my favorite player, and I got
to regret my favorite player. In twenty seven years, I've
never seen on tape a more violent human being than
Ruben Foster. Ruben Foster, yeah, the tape on him. That
guy was a borderline trained assassin, a flat out alpha
(05:03):
male predator. If you don't like the tape of Ruben Foster,
sorry you pe sitting down and you definitely don't like football.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
Wow. Okay, so Ruben Foster was.
Speaker 4 (05:16):
He He was just a bonafide, freaking ombre and he
got hurt, kind of fizzled around. But that guy had
the makings. I mean, I'll tell you what, Ruby, I
loved me some. Ruben Foster.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Well, there's a gal in the back who wants to
know remind you that she peees standing up. Okay, just
say right, Well that bounces the guy who doesn't like
Ruben Fossick fan Ruben Foster.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
Well, obviously we're fired up to be here.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
The Seahawks are gonna be on the clock at eighteen
titans Brown's Giants the first three picks. We'll get this
thing going at about thirteen minutes from now. We're gonna
award prizes for the best picks of the draft, and
that's not the topics, that's whoever Hugh thought made the
best picks of the draft. Sometimes the winner ends up
being a later pick, like late twenties, early thirties. So
the winner is gonna get thousand dollars voucher to Delta
(06:00):
Airlines wherever they fly the entire world. So big thanks
to Delta dot Com for supplying that. Second place two
fifty to simply Seattle dot com. You got your eye
on something, by the way, on the website KJR fifteen
for fifteen percent off anything always at simply Seattle dot com.
We'll throw in a pair of Mariners tickets as well
for that for a game if you're choosing. And then
(06:22):
the third place hundred bucks to Taco Time where the
taco burger is on the menu for a while. It's
gonna be gone at some point, so make sure you
grab one to fight our nearest Taco Time restaurant jump
on the web, Taco Time in w dot com r
and our foundation specialist Frostbrewed Coors Light.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
The whole spiel Man. So we're jacked up to be here.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
The Seahawks at eighteen in a while from now, we'll
probably get to the Seahawks pick if I'm being honest here,
right around five fifteen, five thirty ish for the mock draft. Okay,
we're gonna move fast here, unlike the real draft tomorrow
from the vMac. But let's talk about the Hawks for
a second. Hugh ten picks overall, five of the top
ninety two, and if you remember, kind of the genesis
(07:00):
of how they got to where they are, number fifty
two in the second round is the pick they got
from the Steelers in the DK Metcalf deal.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
Ninety two in the third round.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
And this is kind of wacky because that pick has
been tossed around like a freaking nickel. It's like a
coin man. This is the pick they got from the
Raiders for Gino. It was originally a Lion's pick, then
it went to the Jets and a pick swap. The
Jets then took it and sent it to the Raiders
for Devonte Adams, and then the Raiders sent it to
the Seahawks in the Genos Smith deal. So then there's
(07:30):
a forty five pick gap, which I don't know if
John Schneider can sit around for forty five picks. They
got three cop picks at one thirty seven, one, one
seventy five, and then two twenty three, and the seventh
is another pick they got for DK Metcalf, and then
they'll wrap it up in the U in the seventh
round and pick two thirty four. So yeah, I mean,
it's gonna be a fun day tomorrow, a fun day today.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
But let's talk Seahawks.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
They got a lot of draft capital, but also a
lot of needs, especially on the offensive line.
Speaker 4 (07:55):
Well, the offensive line has been whether you want to
go fifteen years, uh, you know, PFF has them ranked
as the twenty fifth best line on average for those years,
which is the worst if that makes sense over fifteen years,
over the last four years, if you want to be
more recent, they are second to the last, to the Giants,
and so they just simply have to address that. I
(08:18):
think a lot of Seahawks fans were very anxious that
there was nothing done during free agency where they're anxious
that John Schneider has stated publicly that he thinks guards
are quote over drafted and overvalued. So we'll see what
that means for Seattle at eighteen today, whether a guard
will figure prominently.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
You know, I think one of the best picks of all.
Speaker 4 (08:41):
Time for the Seahawks was back in two thousand and
one when there really wasn't a big need for an
offensive guard, but Steve Hutchinson was there. Of course Seattle
took him, and then you know, a gold jacket later,
do you say that was a pretty good pick? So
I think even John Schneider would say, Okay, that was
worth that pick.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
Whether or not there's somebody at eighteen, we'll see.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
But I think you just simply have to adjust the
offensive line that the departure of DK Metcalf I think
necessitates a move at the X receiver and outside receiver.
I think they're pretty well stocked in the slot with
Cooper cup and obviously with JSN don't know the jay
that Valdez Scanling has the goods to feel what they need,
(09:26):
so I think that that's a component. And then of
course Mike McDonald as a defensive coach. I think there's
always a wild card. I mean, if you'd have told me,
you know, had me guess in twenty twelve to take
who's going to be CL's first pick with the fifteenth pick,
and I don't even know how many picks I would
have come up before I would have come up with
(09:47):
Bruce Irvin, but Schnyder has been want to of course
that was under the Caro Regine, but Snyder has been
want to surprise his surprises offense. So there could always
be a off ball linebacker, a safety in the mold
of a Kyle ham Toon at Baltimore. I think I
think there's a need at corner. The more I've analyzed
the draft in I think in the last several days,
(10:07):
corner has crept up for me as more of a need.
So a lot of a lot of positional needs, Dave,
when you consider that the team really it's a ten
and seven team that for all intents and purposes was
a nine to eighteen because of JV.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
Well, A lot of a lot of needs, and some
of them based on contracts, right, Like, corner may not
be a need exactly to well, Josh job Right, Well
Nickel if you're looking for a Nickel and Tarikson his
last year of his deal. I mean, he's just a
big year for Tarik willing to prove he deserves the contracts.
All right, we are here at the Queen Anne Beer Hall,
uh the annual Maler Millen mock Draft, brought to you
by your friends at Delta Airlines. Frostbrewed cors Light are

time since they moved to Nashville, have the number one pick.
We'll get the mock going next for the beer hall
right here on ninety three to three KJRFF.
Speaker 1 (11:00):

Speaker 3 (11:31):
The whole spiel. So check that out.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
We're at the Queen Ann Beer Hall for the annual
Malarn millin At Mock Draft. Big thanks to Delta Airlines,
Taco Time, Simply, Seattle dot Com, and RN our Foundation specialists.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
All Right, here we go.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
Let's get things going with the annual Modern Millan Mock Draft.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
You guys ready, We're ready to make.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
Some mock magic here at the Queen Ann Beer Hall.
The Tennessee Titans are on the clock right now, and
the cold Heartfacts the frost brewed Cores Lights Cold Hartfacts
on the Tennessee Titans. This is the first time here
the Titans have had the number one pick since moving
to Nashville. The Oilers had the number one pick three times,
the last time taking running back Earl Campbell back in
(12:09):
nineteen seventy eight. Bryan Callahan three to fourteen and year
number one as the Titans head coach, and now he
needs a quarterback Will Levis, Brandon Allen, and Tim Boyle
on the roster. As of right now, the Titans do
have a returning one thousand yard rusher and wide receiver
on the roster and Tony Pollard and Calvin Ridley, though,
and they had a big move in free agency, grabbing
(12:31):
offensive tackle Dan Moore from Pittsburgh and signed former Seahawks
Draymont Jones defensive end to a one year deal. Also
gave Cody Barton a three year deal for nine million.
How about that Titans were thirtieth in total defense last
year and twenty seventh in scoring offense at just over
eighteen points a game.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
I think Jackson Dick the pick is in.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
Let's get going with the annual Mahler Millen mock draft
to the party and we go for the first time
today where the Titans at number one and commissioner fate.
Speaker 5 (13:07):
Here we go with the first pick of the twenty
twenty five NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans select.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
Cam Ward, quarterback Miami.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
All right, cam Ward, no surprise there, number one pick
in the NFL draft. Former Cougar, former Miami Hurricane. He's
twenty two, he'd be twenty three years old in a
month at Miami. Forty three hundred yards, thirty nine touchdowns,
seven interceptions. How about this though, Hugh and fourteen hundred
and thirty six pass attempts at the FBS level. That's
two years at Wazoo and one at Miami. He threw
(13:39):
twenty three interceptions. That's won every sixty two passes. But
a lot of people were critical to him because you
remember the pop tarts ball against Iowa State, goes out
and plays the first half and then quits the game
and Miami loses by one. So cam Ward is the
number one pick overall the Mather Milllen Mock Draft to
the Tennessee Titans.
Speaker 4 (13:59):
Yeah. I'm not certain that cam Ward will be worth
this pick or be the best quarterback yep, But I
am certain that Tennessee needs to make this guy the
number one pick.
Speaker 3 (14:10):
I've seen him live.
Speaker 4 (14:13):
Him live in Miami against Florida in the opener, and
it's just clear this guy took his game to another level.
You mentioned the interceptions. He had seven interceptions. Last year.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
He had thirty nine touchdowns, right That led the.
Speaker 4 (14:26):
All of college football, and his one hundred and fifty
eight career touchdowns was an NCAA record. So this guy
has been able to produce. There's a certain moxie to
his game. He's got a gunslinger aggressive mentality. He's got
a quick release. He's six foot two, not ideal height,
(14:48):
but he's got a solid build. I'll use an old
school term. He has a host I mean this guy
quick release. It comes out hot. He's got a great
anticipation in terms of throwing into his own I think
that his athleticism is sneaky.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
When he actually is running out in space.
Speaker 4 (15:07):
I don't think he has elite speed, but he has
a short area of quickness to him and elusiveness to him.
In the pocket, he stays alive. He can generate big plays,
contort his body. Now he has a low release.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
I think he's gonna get some balls batted down.
Speaker 4 (15:21):
Yeah, he had four fumbles. I think he's got to
secure the ball more more. But I think that he
has a gunslinger mentality. That's a good I mean that
in a good way, in a bad way. He's never
saw opacity he didn't like. But you know, you talk
about a clutch gene that coming from thirty eight.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
To eighteen down against Cal he looked.
Speaker 4 (15:41):
You pick an athlete you want to say on Pat Mahomes,
I saw it. You want to say, Michael Jordan, I
saw it. I've seen this guy. I'll just say this.
I don't like the guy personally for a lot of
reasons not worth bringing up here, but I would not
want to bet a large sum of money against him.
Speaker 3 (15:58):
I just wow, too talented. And I'll just close with this.
Speaker 4 (16:01):
There are a lot of discussions whether it's cam Ward
or whether it's it's Shoudoor.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
Sanders.
Speaker 4 (16:05):
You go watch the bowl game now is just the
Pop Tar Bowl against State.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
He played a half. I tallied nine plays where.
Speaker 4 (16:15):
I said, okay, that's a woe legit worthy of a
number one pick.
Speaker 3 (16:19):
Nine plays.
Speaker 4 (16:21):
I watched Shoudoor Sanders against BYU and his bowl, the
Alamo Bowl. In an entire game he had two. So
again nine for Ward in a half. Two for Shoudre
Sanders in an entire game. I think this is clearly
the best quarterback in the draft, and at a position
I mean, what more can you say about then? Brian
(16:43):
Callahan said when he when he talked to Will Levis
coming off the field, Will Lewis had those confounding turnovers
and you could see you don't have to beat deaf
to read his lips. Ryan Kellison, what the flick are
you doing?
Speaker 3 (16:59):
Okay? And and it.
Speaker 4 (17:02):
Just it's got to be too much, right, And so
there's some great players potentially right behind him. This quarterback
obviously pushes to the top. I think he's got enough
juice in his game to warrant the number one overall pick.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
Well, when your quarterback is most known for a mayonnaise endorsement,
that's not good by the way right, So the Titans
had to move on and go with somebody else, So
they have made that selection for the first time again
in Nashville. Number one pick to the Titans is cam
Ward quarterback Miami, which puts the Cleveland Browns now on
the clock at number two. The Corps like cold hard
facts on the Browns all right. It's a familiar spot
(17:35):
for them. Three and fourteen last year, worst point differential
in the NFL of minus one seventy seven. Kevin Stefanski
back for year five as the Browns head coach. DeShawn
Watson's got two years left, no deal. He's out for
now with the achilles injury, and who knows if he'll
ever throw a pass again for Cleveland. The Browns right now,
Hugh have Joe Flacco and Canny picking on the roster
at quarterback, and the Browns leading returning rusher is Jerome
(17:58):
four who ran for un six hundred yards last year.
Speaker 3 (18:01):
That's the best back they got.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
They did extend Miles Garrett on a four year deal
with one hundred and twenty three million guaranteed. It also
gave Maliite Collins a two year contract in free agency.
The defensive tackle from the Jets. But outside of Garrett,
the Jets don't have much at defensive end.
Speaker 3 (18:16):
Their second leading returning sack Maine.
Speaker 2 (18:19):
Is oba Ocunquo, with only three and a half last year,
Brown's ended twenty twenty four dead last in scoring and
just over fifteen points a game, and twenty seventh in
scoring defense. And by the way, the Browns defense last
year in seventeen games, only intercepted four passes. That's not
even one a month. For God's sakes, when it's all
said and done. In the NFL turnover differential of minus
(18:40):
twenty two, both of those were dead last in the
National Football League. The Browns are on the clock at
number two. It sounds like the pick is in, So
the podium we go and Commissioner fame With the Browns
on the clock at number two, but.
Speaker 5 (18:55):
The second pick at the twenty twenty five NFL Draft,
the Cleveland Browns select Travis Hunter, wide receiver cornerback Colorado.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
I don't know why you'd be criticizing this. I mean,
Travis Hutter might be you and I were talking off
the year. I don't know how many guys have made
All Conference in three different conferences. I mean you gotta
transfer obviously to make that happen. Yeah, and your team's
gonna leave conferences to make it happen. But first Team
All Big Twelve on offense, First Team All Big Twelve
both sides of the ball, by the way, Second Team Swack.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
When he was at Jackson State, He's the Heisman winner.
Speaker 2 (19:28):
He's the eightp Player of the Year the Walter Camp,
which is the player of the Year as voted on
by the coaches. By the way, Benn Erick is the
defensive player of the Year, but Littnikoff is the best
wide receiver. And oh, by the way, he won the
Lot Impact Award as well for his character at Colorado.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
Kind of a cool story.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
His father was arrested in November of twenty twenty three
for a variety of charges. A judge just gave his
dad permission to be at the draft to watch his son,
So that's pretty cool. He was able to break his
probation and travel to Green Bay to watch the draft
with his son. Travis Hunter, mister do everything. The Giants
(20:03):
have said they'd be willing to play him on both
sides of the ball.
Speaker 4 (20:06):
Would you if you're the Browns? I would play him
on both sides of the ball. I would like to
pick a side and uh, and I'll tell you that
in a second. I would like to pick a side
to play three downs and then on the other side
of the ball play on third down?
Speaker 3 (20:21):
Got it?
Speaker 4 (20:21):
Does that make it regardless? And you know how I
would I make the determination. I would ask him. I
would say, what do you prefer? Now he's gonna say,
I want to play three downs and three downs? But
what will ease into that? But I think you're gonna
get the best out of him if you let him
play whatever side of the ball. And he may be
influenced by the fact that there's there are there's one
(20:41):
cornerback in the NFL making over twenty five million dollars.
There's eleven wide receivers in the NFL making over twenty
five million. Well, we'll see within that not that influences. Look,
it's hard to come up with something that hasn't been
said about Travis Hunter. He's he's a he's a unicorn,
he is he is football. So hey o, Tani, we
understand that in that to be at an All American
(21:03):
cattle caliber or just the idea that I could utter,
he is the best receiver in this in this draft,
he is the best corner in this draft. I do
not think he is the best receiver and corner nor
corner in the last five years, but for twenty twenty five.
That's what I see on the tape and you look
at it, and a month ago I said he's going.
Speaker 3 (21:23):
To be a better corner.
Speaker 4 (21:25):
I think he has either way, his short area of
quickness that plays out on the offensive end defensive size
the ball.
Speaker 3 (21:32):
He is absolutely.
Speaker 4 (21:33):
Stunning in his ability to change direction and to accelerate
when in his hands.
Speaker 3 (21:38):
He's a ballhawk.
Speaker 4 (21:39):
He's got one wonderful hands as a receiver, and if
you put him at corner, he's got a unique ballhawking ability.
He's got great instincts. I think his his I'm summary.
I'm theorizing rather that his experience as a wide receiver
helps his play as a corner because you just see him.
(21:59):
You know, he had an innert in the back of
the end zone where he's got a guy in the flat,
but he just senses how the route combinations are playing.
He falls off to another man in the back of
the end zone to get an interception. I mean, he
has those type of instincts. Now, as for concerns, I
don't think he has the polish as a dB that
(22:21):
he does as a wide receiver. I think he gets
it done by just sheer raw athleticism. There's a question
about time on task with him on either side.
Speaker 3 (22:30):
Of the ball.
Speaker 4 (22:31):
Are you going to get two good players and forfeit
the idea of getting one great player? You know you could.
When you look at his weight one hundred and eighty
eight pounds, he's in the thirtieth percentile for corners. For
his height at six foot is sixty a third percentile.
That slender build could be a problem if he wants
(22:55):
to take on this workload in the National Football League.
And so you could go from saying, well, we get
two players for the price of one, you could have
zero players for the price of one if you give
him too much of a workload, again on that thin frame.
So I think that there's some some careful planning that
has to be done.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
Guess what you're breaking, molts. This is the discussions we.
Speaker 4 (23:14):
Haven't had to have since I don't know what Otto
Graham probably played a dB or somebody, but you have
to go back decades obviously, and so for Travis Hunter,
the best athlete in this draft, the best corner in
this draft, the best wide receiver in this draft. You know,
just kind of electric. I played with Deon Sanders. I
was with the Falcons when Dion got drafted. He has
(23:36):
a Dion Sanders type of aura about him where when
he walks in the building. Yeah, you say, this guy's
the best football player. He hadn't even played a game
and we already know he's the.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
Best football player on it.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
Well, you just think about what the Browns need him.
And again, they had four interceptions the entire year, for
God's sake, So I think did he have four last year?
Speaker 4 (23:54):
Four?
Speaker 3 (23:54):
Last year himself at Colorado? Travis Hunter did?
Speaker 2 (23:57):
He had ninety six catches for damn near thirteen hundred yards,
fifteen touchdowns and four picks on defense, So they could
use them on defense for sure, and then on the
offensive side of the ball.
Speaker 3 (24:05):
Really, all they have is Jerry Judy at wide receiver.
I mean that's it.
Speaker 2 (24:08):
They got, you know, Michael Woods, they got Cedric Tolman.
They got nothing at wide receivers. So they need this
guy desperately to make an impact big time on at
least the one star of the receiver. Okay, well we'll see.
I mean he wants to play both. You said he
wants to play both.
Speaker 3 (24:22):
All right.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
Let's get to the Giants now. At number three, the
Browns took Travis Hunter. Let's see what the Giants do
now at number three, the Corps like coldheart facts on
the New York Giants three and fourteen last year, Brian
Dable sticking around. Daniel Jones is out, mister unlimited, Russell
Wilson Comban his hair is there on a one year
deal for ten and a half million dollars. Giants also
(24:43):
gave Jamis Winston a two year, eight million dollar deal
and re signed wide receiver Darius Slayton to a three
year extension. Two big additions in the secondary hue for
the Giants cornerback Paulson Adebo from the Saints and Javon
Hollod from Miami. Giants were thirtieth in total offense last
year and scored just over sixteen points a game, which
was second to last in the NFL. This is the
highest the Giants have drafted since they took Saquon Barkley
(25:07):
in twenty eighteen.
Speaker 3 (25:08):
Let's see what the Giants do to the podium. We go.
Speaker 2 (25:12):
The pick is in Giants on the clock at number three.
Here now is Commissioner Fame with the selection.
Speaker 5 (25:17):
With a third pick at the twenty twenty five NFL Draft,
the New York Giants select Abdul Carter Edge Penn State.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
Okay, no surprise there with abdul Carter.
Speaker 2 (25:27):
I mean the top three picks in the draft, and
you know, no particular order were kind of you know,
figured out a long time ago. But Abdul Carter, if
you're a Husky fan, this guy gives you nightmares. He
had four TFLs and two sacks against the Huskies in
November at Penn State. Twelve sacks, twenty four tackles for
loss and took a gigantic jump, by the way, Hugh
(25:47):
from his second year to his third year six three,
two point fifty ish Abdell Carti Carter, excuse me, defensive
end is now a giant.
Speaker 4 (25:56):
Yeah, at six three and I got him at two
fifty two got him And that is good size, not
elite size for an edge, but what he brings is
elite athleticism. Four to four eight in the forty is
ninety ninth percentile. And yet his forty time isn't really
even the best part of his athleticism. He has such
(26:17):
an electrifying get off and an ability to bend around
the corner close to the quarterback. He was an off
ball linebacker, and then when Chop Robinson left Penn State,
Tony Franklin and the Penn State staff said, hey, there
may be more juice for you on the line of
(26:37):
scrimmage being a pass rusher. So he goes from an
off ball linebacker to out to the edge and is
the best defensive player in college football last year and
you know, extremely productive. There is a question about a
foot so and whether or not that's gonna heal. You know,
obviously some people get a foot problem and it can
(26:57):
really linger. So that would be the unconcern. If anything,
I would have taken him at number two Cleveland Paradom
with Miles Garrett.
Speaker 3 (27:06):
You would have taken Carter instead of Travis. I would
have taken Carter.
Speaker 4 (27:09):
Yeah, I just think that now that that's with a
big asterisk, assuming that his foot is healthy.
Speaker 3 (27:15):
I think he plays plays a position.
Speaker 4 (27:17):
Now you've got you know, you've got with the Giants,
You've got some guy guys.
Speaker 3 (27:23):
That they have drafted.
Speaker 4 (27:25):
Yeah that uh uh cave on Thibodeau, for example, he
has not quite lived up to the billing of his
high draft pick as a defensive end. So I still
think that there's some a need there at the you know,
the most impactful position in football on the defensive side
of the ball is an edge rusher with this kind
of uh of ability. So I I just think not
(27:47):
only does he have the app letic, I think he
has the instincts because you watch his move repertoire how
he used his hands spin move into the B gap
if he gets up up close.
Speaker 3 (27:57):
But uh, it's just that it's that ability. Turn the hoop.
The turn the hoop is a term that you.
Speaker 4 (28:03):
Hear in the NFL where there's a giant hula hoop
on the practice field.
Speaker 3 (28:07):
You've seen that, Dave. I would say it's probably about twelve.
Speaker 4 (28:10):
Feet in in diameter, and defensive linemen they run around
that hoop to practice turning the edge and getting low
and doing it. And in fact, they even put a
little towel down inside the hoop so they bend down
to pick up the hoop. I'm telling you, this guy
is gonna set records running the hula hoop and then
he's gonna apply it to offensive tackles and that is
(28:33):
the most coveted skill in all of defensive football. A
defensive end who can run that hoop. And this guy
is just electric in it. And I'll tell you what,
it's the obvious comparison. I see all kinds of Micael
Parsons all over this guy. Obviously, where's number eleven for
Penn State LaVar Arrington. That's become a thing in fact
that we got three number eleven defensive players in the
(28:54):
top fifteen in all likelihood and this so he just
has that kind of Alpha Doug mentality about him. He's
gonna wear that number. Uh, that Penn State is ward
and so proud and just just be the duke.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
Remember they lost Ojelari to the Eagles in free agency.
They still have Dexter Lawrence and uh and Arns and
linebacker cave On Thibodeau. So this is a team that
was ninth and sacks a year ago. The Giants were.
For as bad as they were overall, they had a
decent defense. So they're gonna add to that now.
Speaker 4 (29:21):
When the Giants won the Super Bowl, what was their
best attribute to their football team and their front four one.
Speaker 3 (29:28):
So I think they just kind.
Speaker 4 (29:28):
Of look like, hey, if we can do that, and
look at the Eagles. Eagles, they they didn't blitz. They
literally did not blitz in the Super Bowl. This is
this has been a holy grail for a long time.
Can you rush with four? Play coverage with seven? And
the Giants are trying to do that?
Speaker 3 (29:45):
All right?
Speaker 2 (29:45):
Top three picks and the annual Maler Millan Mock from
the Queen Ann Beer Haller in the books, Titans Go
cam Ward, Browns Go Travis Hunter, Giants go Abdul Carter
from Penn State.
Speaker 3 (29:53):
Now the fun starts.
Speaker 2 (29:54):
Patriots and new coach Mike Rabol on the clock at
number four. Jaguars Raiders coming up live from the Queen
Ann Beer Hall right here on ninety three three KJRFM.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
Now back to the twenty sixth annual Muller and Millon
Mock Draft, presented by corslet are In our Foundation specialists
and brought to you by Queen Anne Beer Hall and
Delta Airlines on Sports Radio ninety three point three kjr FM.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
Right, we're back of the Queen Anne Beer Hall here
on Lower Queen Ann Hill.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
Getting ready for the.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
NFL Draft tomorrow, which means today we have the annual
Mather Millan Lock Draft. Twenty seven years in a row
of this unbelievable. How the hell we have made it
twenty seven years is beyond me. Hey, how about another
run of applause for my friend Hugh Millin, who was
doing a hell of a job here at the Lock Draft.
All the insight you could want. Nobody does what he
does in this city, and nobody can. Nobody could if
they wanted to. But we are here live with the
(30:54):
Queen Ann Beer Hall for the annual Malar Millon Mock
Draft pick thanks to Frost Fruit Corpse, Light are in
our foundation, Special Delta Airlines, Taco Time, and of course
our friends at simply Seattle dot com. We are through
pick number three in the annual draft, cam Ward Travis Hunter,
Abdul Carter. No surprise, there goes one, two, three that
brings us to the Patriots, Hugh, your former team obviously
(31:16):
four and thirteen. Last year the Frost Fruit Corps life
could hard facts on them, not very good.
Speaker 3 (31:22):
Bob Kraft after one year said that's it. I'm done.
Speaker 2 (31:24):
Droud Mayo's out. He gets one year and we're whacking him.
Mike Vrabel is back in Boston as the new head
coach after spending last year as a consultant with the Browns.
Patriots allowed the fifth most sacks last year. Their offensive
line was terrible and still have an obvious need on
the offensive line despite signing tackle Morgan Moses and free
agency away from the Jets. Other big ticket free agent
(31:45):
signings included defensive tackle Milton Williams, wide receivers to Von
Diggs and cornerback Carlton Davis. And by the way, outside
of Diggs, can you name their second best receiver in
New England outside of Stefan Dicks.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
Yeah, that's our guy. Who is it? The stats wise
it was to Mario Douglas.
Speaker 2 (32:02):
You're thinking Jalen Polk Obviously stats why this is to
Mario Douglas? And maybe Jalen turns out to be that
guy this year. Who knows Drake may back at quarterback
in year two thirteen games last year as a rookie.
The Patriots ended last season twenty second in scoring defense
and thirtieth in scoring offense, and finished twenty twenty four,
(32:22):
dead last in the NFL in sacks, with only twenty eight.
And by the way, the best returning running back the
Patriots have on the roster is Ramandre Stevenson eight hundred
yards three point nine yards to carry, seven touchdowns.
Speaker 3 (32:37):
So they need help all over the place. With that
football team the podium, we go to the Patriots on
the clock at number four. Let's find out what they do.
Here's Commissioner Fain with.
Speaker 5 (32:49):
The fourth pick in the twenty twenty five NFL Draft.
The New England Patriots select Ashton genty running back Boise State.
Speaker 3 (33:00):
Wow. Ashton Jenny Boise State is the pick.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
Surprising, no question about that that that's the selection. But
I'll tell you what man five to nine, two to
eleven ran for twenty six hundred yards twenty nine touchdowns
last year, three hundred and seventy four carries, absolute workhorse.
A lot of people were judging him by his performance
against Penn State and the quarterfinals. Here he went thirty
carries for a bucko four and by his standards, had
(33:26):
a bad game. He also caught a ton of balls.
Two years gonna be caught forty three passes for five
seventy and five touchdowns, and those numbers dropped dramatically obviously.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
Last year.
Speaker 2 (33:36):
But if you think the guy is gonna be Barry Sanders,
if you think he's gonna be Walter Payton, you think
he's gonna be Adrian Peterson, and you have a need
for a start running back, why not take the guy?
Speaker 4 (33:45):
Well, the logic here, and by the way, against Penn State,
he was credited with sixteen forced mistackles, so I just
think he didn't get great blocking there. But I think
the logic behind this pick is this a lot of
chatter about the page just wanting to have an offensive lineman,
but this is not a good year for offensive lineman.
Speaker 3 (34:04):
At the top of the draft.
Speaker 4 (34:05):
Right, So if you're sitting there at four and you say, okay,
in other years, you know, where's genty? Well, you know
the Genti's like a once every three year running back.
Speaker 3 (34:15):
Sure right?
Speaker 4 (34:16):
You know Bejon Robinson. I mean maybe you know five.
You know, we've seen him, We've this is not the
best running back we've seen. But let's talk about what
he brings. He had in high school, he played running back,
wide receiver, outside linebackers.
Speaker 3 (34:31):
Safety, and edge.
Speaker 4 (34:32):
He didn't come to the running back position till late.
He has a dense frame, you know, very very compact
at five foot eight, very low to the ground. He
has an appetite for contact. His forty time was four
point four to two eighty nine percentile.
Speaker 3 (34:49):
He led the FBS.
Speaker 4 (34:51):
With twenty seven thirty nine yards and.
Speaker 3 (34:55):
He had twenty nine rushing touchdowns.
Speaker 4 (34:57):
He led FBS with sixty three runs of ten or
more yards, and his nineteen hundred and seventy rush yards
after contact were seven hundred more than second place. With
the GPS tracking, he's been over twenty two miles per hour.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
Look, this guy has incredible contact balance.
Speaker 4 (35:17):
He's got great vision, he's got patience, but more than anything,
did I say it, incredible pad level and contact balance.
I have not seen very many college running backs that
can fight through through a forced mistackles. There's room for
improvement on his pass blocking, but he's had to carry
such a big load that's.
Speaker 3 (35:38):
Going to be an issue.
Speaker 4 (35:38):
Some people don't think that he has elite breakaway speed.
I watched his intent all of his big play runs
I think was more than forty I filtered and watched him.
Several of them are Utah State guys chasing him. But
you know, he had a big breaker against Oregon. He
doesn't look slow when he's heading to the end zone.
In that regard, I think he has some Saquon Barkley
(35:59):
in him.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
Sakuon Barkley is a weight room monster.
Speaker 4 (36:03):
Well, Aston Genti is at a squad of six hundred pounds,
and he has that very typical speed, very close to
the speed, and he shows that on the field. And
I would say the last concern for him is five fumbles.
I think he's got to clean up some of that
call security. But I think that that he's in many
(36:25):
people's eyes, a top three player in this draft. I
think talent wise, you could say a top five or
six at the very least. So to get him at four,
even though you need a lineman, this is not a
very good Patriot team. He's gonna have to be his
own blocker right and break some tackles. But he's a
three down guy ready for the work.
Speaker 2 (36:43):
Well, they're left tackle right now is a kid named
Vederian Low that I've never even heard of until I
looked it up about two days ago. By the way, okay,
so they've got massive needs on the offensive line. This
maybe shows you kind of what this draft with the
teams think of the offensive line crop and maybe potentially
what it will do for the Seahawks when they're on
clock at number eighteen. They could have taken will Campbell,
they could have taken Tyler Booker, and they instead decided
(37:06):
to take Ashton genty from Penn from Boise State with
the fourth pick in the annual Maler Millan Mock Draft.
Speaker 3 (37:13):
All right, that puts the Jaguars the Raiders.
Speaker 2 (37:15):
Pete Carroll, his first draft with the Raiders on the clock,
will continue from the Queen Anne Beer Hall.
Speaker 3 (37:21):
Big thanks to Frost Brewed Corse Light.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
Delta Airlines are in our Foundation specialist simply Seattle and
our friends over at Taco time.
Speaker 3 (37:29):
We're gonna continue from the Queen Ann
Speaker 2 (37:30):
