Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, here we are at Jimmy's on first getting ready
for I mean.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
This is what we're used to. This is what we.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
Demand as Seahawk fans. I don't mean to sound arrogant.
That's a little arrogant. I agree with that. But this
is what we demand as the Seahawks. This is what
we demand as Seahawks fans. Pete Carroll changed everything, Mike
Holmgrin changed everything for us. We are no longer looking
for moral victories. This is not the mid nineties or
the late eighties, Dick. We are looking for Super Bowl

(00:28):
champions Division titles in this town, number one seeds in
this town. And I don't know how else to say this.
It's gonna sound rudy, corny. I am absolutely thrilled that
we are back in this position as quickly as we
are right, you fire, Pete Carroll. There was a little
bit of a debate, are they doing the right thing,
They're doing the wrong thing? Get rid of Gino Smith.

(00:48):
A little bit of a debate are they doing the
right thing doing the wrong thing? And the answer is
two for two, Absolutely freakin yes, the right thing on
both accounts. To move on and bring somebody else in here.
Pete Carroll's legacy is secure in Granite in this town
and it always will be. But the fact that this
football team is eleven and three, just two years into
the Mike McDonald era, and a game tonight that could

(01:11):
catapult them to the top of the NFL at least
for today, which means nothing, but it means you're in
a good spot, is thrilling to me.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
This has moved way faster than I thought it would.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
I thought there was a chance they'd be back at
this point in time, at some point. But Dick, if
you would have told me that before Christmas Day, if
Mike McDonald's second year, they'd be back in this situation,
I don't even know if I would have bought it
going that fast.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
No, I think we thought last year went about the
way we thought it would. We thought they would take
a marginal step forward this year. We've got the preseason predictions.
I think one of us had them in eleven and six.
The other two had as a ten and seven. So
they've already surpassed that basically. I mean, they're definitely going
to surpass those predictions. But you know, you talk about

(01:57):
you know, this is the eighth winningest franchise. It's the
year two thousand eighth winning is franchise. So yes, we
are used to this. It's such a such a dichotomy
from the Marriagers when were sitting here in the playoffs,
We're like, what are we supposed to be doing?

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Like we didn't even know what we're doing here.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
It's been the first time at twenty four years that
we've been in this situation. We've been here lots in
this bar for big games like this, and it starts
with ownership. And we have we have teams in this
town that have had owners like the Seahawks, like the
Allens forever.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
And it shows because you don't when you have.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
Great ownership in the NFL and in another sports, you
stay consistently good and the troughs are just mediocrity and
the and the Heights are championships. And we have that
with the Seahawks, we have that with the Storm, we
have that with the Sounders. You know, we've been very
fortunate in those Some of these cities have just it's
never going to change. It's never gonna change until there's

(02:50):
new ownership.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
Yeah, I just again, I just think it's and I
agree with you on the ownership because Paul Allen hired
John Schneider and he's still here. I don't know if
I'm ready to say this is a reflection of Jody
Allen or not, because let's face it, Jody Allen, I mean,
she did let go of Pete Carroll and hire Mike
McDonald as an owner. But I feel like, as long
as John Schneider is here, it's just to carry over

(03:14):
from the previous regime's right, from Paul Allen's tenure as
the owner. And you know, look, I mean, at some point,
John Schneider's gonna be gone, whether he retires or takes
a different job or whatever.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
But as long you just kind of feel like now.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
And that was a big conversation too, right over the offseason,
was man, John Schneider's got to go out and prove himself.
I mean, this is a playoff team that hasn't won
a playoff game at home since they beat Thomas, since
Thomas Rowls and the Seahawks beat the Lions at what
was it twenty nineteens at the year that game happened,
five six.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Years ago, whatever it was.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
So it's been a while, right since they won a
playoff game, Yes, at home, and that's got to end.
And John Schneider's seat was getting a little bit hot,
not white, how but was certainly getting a little hot.
And he is way turned down the volume on that thing,
down the volume. And I just have look this game tonight.
First of all, I know it's I'm not breaking any
new ground here, Dick with this prediction. I think five

(04:08):
minutes ago it's going to be a game, right, I
mean it's gonna be a game. And I just feel
like with this defense. You go back and look at
the Rams, who were averaging over six yards of play.
They were held under five the first time they played
the Seahawks. I think a lot of people realize the
Rams had two hundred and forty nine yards of offense.
They were out gained tremendously by the Seahawks in that game.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
So your quarterback takes care of the football.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
And I know you and Andrews were talking off the
year about how many picks they can have, how many
fumbles they can have.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
You had four, and you came.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Within a sixty one yard field goal of winning the
game on the road, which, by the way, the final
drive included batclock management. And it also included a great
punt by the Rams that pinned you inside your own
five yard line at the one right.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Yes, in that game so one in.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
I just feel like this is one of those games.
Have you guys ever seen the movie Ford Versus Ferrari?
Have you seen the movie andrews Ford versus Ferrari? Remember
the scene where Brad is looking at Henry Ford and says, yeah,
we lost, But old end Zo is shaking in his
boots right now, He says, what do you mean we
just clocked two hundred and twenty miles an hour down
the Molson Straight.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
Now he knows how fast we are.

Speaker 5 (05:13):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
And I think Sean McVay and the Rams know that
performance that they had last time in La may have
worked that night, It's not gonna work tonight.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
It's not.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
And that's why I said after that football game on
our Monday show, I said, this was the most impressed
I've been with the Seattle Seahawks all year long.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
And it came in a loss.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Right.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
That was the game that elevated my belief in this
football team from they're good, they're wild card, they could
maybe win a game in the playoffs. That loss against
the Rams elevated me too. This is a legitimate Super
Bowl Championship caliber football team.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
Well, that was the third fewest yards the Hawks, or
excuse me, the Rams had all year long and that
game against the Hawks. So I just think that we've arrived,
and I know you guys agree with this. We've arrived
at a point where Seahawks fans should be able to
turn the Seahawks on, whether watching him in person, watching
them on the road, whatever, and they should expect this
defense to keep them in every game they play and

(06:12):
for every game to be a game or the Hawks
winning big one or the other in the fourth quarter.
So here's what we're doing. We're gonna break. J. B. Long,
the Voice of the Rams, gonna join us next, go
fun with audio at three forty five, Mike Hogan, Rick
new Heizl, Hugh Millen before kickoff tonight, and the Flames
and Krakeing pregame at five point thirty. Faced off at
six as we continue live from Jammis before a pretty

(06:32):
damn big football game tonight, Boys and girls.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
JB.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
Long, the Voice of the Rams, gonna join from the
press box next on ninety three three KJRFM.

Speaker 5 (06:43):
From the R and R Foundation Specialist Broadcast Studio. Now
back to SOFTI and Dick on your Home for the Huskies,
Kraken and the twelfth Man Sports Radio ninety three point
three KJR FM.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
Darnold Didn't Shop Chump Throw intersected for the full time
Darius Williams. This time the Seahawks will go as far
as Jason Myer's leg can take him. Crom sixty one,
does he have enough?

Speaker 4 (07:15):
That is live?

Speaker 2 (07:16):
Right? And the Rams hang on all right?

Speaker 1 (07:21):
The voice of Joe Davis pick thanks to Fox. The
last time the Seahawks and Rams got together, Royal Boy
to the Rams Dodger bullet and that one four picks
by Sam Garnold and the Hawks were still a sixty
one yardfield goal attempt away from winning the game.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Didn't get it done, but we'll see what happens tonight.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
We are backing Jimmy's on First across the Street from Loomenfield,
joining us right now in the radio show from the
Booth Across the Streets or the Battle for the West
will commence at five point fifteen the voice of the Rams,
Our friend JB. Long, joining us right now on the
radio show JP. How you doing man.

Speaker 6 (07:56):
Well?

Speaker 7 (07:56):
Normally that I could sarcastically say thanks for the invitation,
but you guys actually did text me and invite me
over there, so shame on me for not taking you
up on it.

Speaker 6 (08:03):
Hope you're having a good time and a good start
to your show.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
I had a vodka soda waiting for you, eatn't want it,
so I just drank it. Yeah, so I hope you
don't mind, by the way, me just popping that in
your honor, by the way, before the the game starts
in five point fifteen to night. But hey, let's go
back to that first one, because I wonder how much
of a feeling JB there is in La that, hey man,
that performance against the Hawks may have worked in week one,

(08:25):
but outside of four interceptions, it's not going to work
again tonight in Seattle. How much do you feel like
the Hawks kind of showed the Rams that, hey, we
can go out there and play terrible football on offense and.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
Still find a way to maybe make this a game
in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 6 (08:42):
Yeah, no question, I think all that holds up.

Speaker 7 (08:44):
I'm not sure how much that game, even though it
just a few weeks ago, has any bearing on tonight,
because that's just how rematches and divisional games in short
weeks are But you know, I think at its course,
Seattle has played Los Angeles as well or better than anyone,
certainly in terms of stifling the best offense in the league.

Speaker 6 (09:02):
Seattle's got the antidote.

Speaker 7 (09:03):
I think these Seahawks for many years now, but especially lately,
have been built specifically on defense to to throw in
the Rams. And here they are with an opportunity with
three weeks to go to do exactly that.

Speaker 4 (09:14):
So how have the Rams played since they faced the Seahawks?

Speaker 3 (09:17):
Because the Seahawks are four and oh since they faced
LA But there's a lot of Seahawks fans.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
Are like, we have played very well over the last month.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
Have the Rams played well in their three to one
stretch since facing Seattle?

Speaker 6 (09:28):
Yes, and no. I'll start on offense. They've been nearly
immaculate day for a three turnover game in the rain.

Speaker 7 (09:33):
Coincidentally, at Carolina on Thanksgiving weekend, Matthew Stafford through twenty
eight straight touchdown passes without a pick, but unfortunately turned
it over three times that day, and Young and the
Panthers did just enough on third and fourth down to
stay on the field and to get explosive touchdowns and
to win that game, the only Rams loss in this
stretch that we're talking about.

Speaker 6 (09:54):
Conversy on defense, I would say the.

Speaker 7 (09:55):
Rams are not doing as much damage as the last
time Sam Darnel saw them. Now, whether that's unique to
their opponents or it's just endemic in terms of the
personnel and the way they're playing, I think tonight will
be an interesting data point.

Speaker 6 (10:08):
But as much as anything, I think.

Speaker 7 (10:10):
What's concerning for Rams fans about their defense is there
were always questions about whether they have the high end
corners to combat the best passing attacks in this league,
and right now they're just not generating as much pass
rush without games without Blitz is.

Speaker 6 (10:24):
Just pure win four man.

Speaker 7 (10:26):
Puncture the pocket pass rushes like they were at the
end of last season and in the front half of
this year's schedule.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
Well, JB Long again, the voice of the Rams is
with us and JB.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
As you know, Charles Cross not going to play Seahawk
left tackle, Josh Jones going to go in his spot.
But what about Davonte Adams, What do you think your
status is for tonight? And if he's out, what does
that really mean? At five point fifteen tonight for the Rams.

Speaker 7 (10:49):
Yeah, I mean I assume he's not going to go
just because hamstrings are always difficult and it's not his
first occurrence and it's a short week. But I'll gladly
be proven wrong, and maybe it's worth giving him a
helmet just to go out there in the red zone
if nothing else, whether it's to be a decoy or
an actual threat, because he is that potent and he
has unlocked the red zone this year for the Los
Angeles Rams. But if we're saying Devonte doesn't play, I

(11:11):
wonder what the bigger loss is, you know, I think
that's maybe the leading storyline in this game, Like do
the Rams struggle more on offense without the league's leading
touchdown pass catcher or does Jared Verse come to life
against a backup left tackle who hasn't started, you know,
since twenty twenty three for the Houston Texans.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
What's the level of fear that Rams fans have for
Sam Donald because if you look at his last two
games against the Rams, he's been absolutely horrible.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
But if you look at all the rest of.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
The games not against the Rams, I don't know if
Rams fans watch that though. I mean his passer ratings
like one ten in all those other games. So what's
the level respect and fear they have for Sam Donalds?

Speaker 7 (11:51):
Yeah, I don't know about fear. There's definitely a respect.
I mean, going back to his days as a Jet Like.
Not to get too granular, but the reason why Trevor
Lawrence is a Jaguar is because he came to Sofi
Stadium and with a winless Jets team put one on
the Rams, which was stunning and still I think has
aftershocks running through Los Angeles. But more recently, I remember

(12:11):
saying this going into our Week eleven game. I don't
know whether what happened between him and the Rams while
he was a Viking last year matters at all in
the context of this game, unless it matters to him.
Does that make sense If those thoughts are echoing around
his mind, then yeah, it's definitely relevant.

Speaker 6 (12:26):
But if he's.

Speaker 7 (12:27):
Playing fast, free, clear, confident, then I don't think it
really has any bearing.

Speaker 6 (12:32):
And again it's no disrespect. It's not even specific to Darnold.

Speaker 7 (12:35):
But I think what does strike fear in the hearts
of Rams fans is what they saw Barner do at
tight end, and certainly what jasm can do. And I
kind of think the X factor is Shaheed in this game,
both in terms of special teams and while all the
eyes are on JSN, he has the vertical threat and
the run after catchability to really make life difficult for
this la secondary.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
So jblong with us the voice of the Rams, Jaby
go back to the DeVante thing for a second, because
I'm looking at Tara gets behind Davante and Pooka Nakua
and the next best wide receiver target wise, I believe
is Jordan Whittington, who's got twenty four and he's got
three in the last three games for the Rams. Sow
how big Like, for example, the Hawks have Jackson Smith

(13:17):
and Jigba, they got Cooper Cup, they got Rashid Shaheed.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
Obviously, how big is the drop.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
In your opinion from Poka Nakua to whoever that number
two guy would be tonight for the Rams.

Speaker 6 (13:29):
Well, that really cuts to the crux of the matter.

Speaker 7 (13:31):
We could do a whole show on this because you
guys are so used and I am too to seeing
Sean mcdoe and the Rams operate in eleven personnel sets,
three receivers and only one tight end. Now the pendulum
has completely swung. They're using three tight ends more than
any team arguably in league history, at least in the
modern era. Now Seattle is built to defend that. No

(13:52):
team in the NFL is better equipped to thwart that
than the Seahawks. And we saw some of that in
Week eleven. But I think right now, if we're saying
is not going to play, the silver lining is that
he's already playing a career low in terms of snap count.
They're kind of using him in specialty situations and platooning him.
And then also it's more of a three tight end identity,
including former Seahawk Colby Partinson. Anyway, now that being said,

(14:15):
one other kind of you know name that bears mentioning
here is to to Atwell. If you remember in twenty
twenty three Week one, when Pooka had his breakout performance,
to to Atwell went for over one hundred and two,
they gave him a ten million dollar come back to
LA contract this offseason. That was before Devonte, that was
before they became a three tight end offense.

Speaker 6 (14:33):
Okay, but he's still a threat.

Speaker 7 (14:35):
He's still one of their fastest players, and he made
an unbelievable catch last.

Speaker 6 (14:39):
Week against Detroit.

Speaker 7 (14:40):
Otherwise, Rams probably don't make that that don't win that game,
So he's one to watch if the weather permits tonight.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
JB.

Speaker 3 (14:47):
I don't know if there's been any massive distractions amongst
this list. I'm gonna give you, but in the last
few days, Sean mcvayze White has had a baby, the
flight was delayed to Seattle, Pooka rips the refs, and
then Pookah to apologize to the Jewish community community for
something he did on YouTube, Like if you put all
those together, is that a distraction that could hurt them tonight?

Speaker 7 (15:11):
Well know, in about six hours. Yeah, you know it's
gonna make. It's gonna make for a narrative arc one
way or another. I don't know which way it's gonna break.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
Yeah, well, jab, I told these guys I'm Jewish and
the Puka thing doesn't bother me at all.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
I don't even know what the hell we're doing here.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to be offended by,
to be totally honest with you, man, so I don't
get any of it. I mean, I know Puka from
his days that you dub as you do. Obviously, from
his days as a Ram and he's the last guy
that I would ever expect to be doing something like
that on purpose and pissing people off.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
So I don't know what that means to you.

Speaker 1 (15:48):
If anything, I just thought it, I'd offer that commentary
that it doesn't bother me in the least. And I'm
freaking Jewish for God's sakes, man, So you know, Puka,
you know what kind of guy's all about.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (15:59):
I don't have much to add to that conversation of
them to say, I know I was an idiot at
twenty four, I was an idiot at thirty four, and
I'll be an idiot at forty four and a.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
Lot of.

Speaker 7 (16:09):
I'm gonna keep making mistakes, and all ask for is
grace and forgiving us and the opportunity to do the
next right thing.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
Yeah, no doubt, no doubt. How about Matt Stafford tonight
with the wind, the rain. You think of Matt Stafford,
you think of Ford Field, you think of so far,
you think of.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
Comfortable playing conditions.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
Does the confidence level you think from the Rams nation
change at all if this weather gets really nasty tonight?

Speaker 6 (16:34):
It could?

Speaker 7 (16:34):
I think that's true of any quarterback though, I mean,
the one that you face just a couple of days
ago is forty four years old and off the couch.
This guy's the MVD front runner, right. So there's a
big difference no matter how you slice it.

Speaker 6 (16:45):
And I think what the.

Speaker 7 (16:45):
Rams have to offer to is really the NFL's best
rushing attack. I think it's been twenty three games since
the Seahawks allowed a one hundred yard rush or the
Rams at two backs, who could do that here tonight.

Speaker 6 (16:55):
I'm not predicting that they will.

Speaker 7 (16:57):
I'm just saying there's a world out there where Sean
McVay opted just mash the Seahawks stubbornly with his running game,
and if they do go down that pathway, the way
that the Rams have been doing it has been effective.
It's been thorough, it's been convincing. It's been the best
it's been since the Todd early years here with the
Los Angeles Rams.

Speaker 3 (17:16):
On the flip side, how aggressive do you think Clint
Kubiak will be and how aggressive do you think he
should be?

Speaker 4 (17:23):
You mentioned the corner issues.

Speaker 3 (17:25):
Should Clint Kubiak bombs away tonight on the Rams.

Speaker 7 (17:29):
You know, I was watching your game Sunday on the
bike this morning, just kind of the Jim burningson calories
in some hours, and I was reminded that there was
no DeForest Buckner in that game.

Speaker 6 (17:39):
There was no Sauce Gardner in that game. They're down
arguably their best pass rusher and their.

Speaker 7 (17:42):
Two best corners, and it didn't seem like he had
any interest in attacking downfield in that game. Now, that
may have been in part by design not to make
the critical mistake that would allow a Philip Rivers lead
Colts offense to come in here and get one against you.
And if that's the case, I totally understand and I
can hardly fault him for that.

Speaker 6 (18:00):
But again, that's between Sam Donald and his ears and
his coordinator.

Speaker 7 (18:05):
Like I'm curious to see how much confidence in them,
and whenever I'm as kind of like you guys did
about Sam Donald and what it looks like from the
La lens, I was kind of bended back on the.

Speaker 6 (18:14):
Seattle audience, like the twelves are telling me everything I
need to know.

Speaker 7 (18:18):
Right I'm watching your fans react to him, and I'm
watching your fans see a Super Bowl caliber roster, but
have some real doubts about whether or not he's the
guy who.

Speaker 6 (18:27):
Can get them all the way to Santa Clara.

Speaker 1 (18:28):
Yeah, are you surprised at all, JB? At the year
Cooper Cups having in Seattle?

Speaker 6 (18:35):
How would you characterize it?

Speaker 2 (18:37):
First of all, slightly disappointing, underwhelming.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
I thought if he was healthy the entire year, which
he's been for the most part, I thought he'd be
a little more productive. My biggest concern I honestly, JB
when they got him wasn't talent, it was just availability.
And he's played thirteen games.

Speaker 7 (18:56):
Yeah, then I guess the way I would answer it
back to you is I'm pleasant surprised and encouraged and
happy for him that the game count has been there.
But if the numbers have been underwhelming, then it might
just be a reflection of where he is on the
career arc. And I think, you know, as difficult as
that rap, you know, reality is to embrace for all
of us who are fighting father time Like that definitely

(19:17):
played into why he is a Seahawks, So I can't
be that surprised.

Speaker 6 (19:21):
If that answers the question.

Speaker 3 (19:22):
Jab final, thanks for me and we appreciate you coming
on special teams. I mean, the Rams have been ranked
low and special teams All year, Seattle's been number one
EPA for play in special teams. What has been the
special team's achilles heel, specifically for La.

Speaker 7 (19:37):
Well, that's why you guys are a smart show and
I enjoy joining you guys, because who would be surprised
if this game comes down to the kicking game, Because
that's how these games typically go.

Speaker 6 (19:45):
Because that's how Week eleven win.

Speaker 7 (19:47):
As you guys played us into this segment right with
a miss sixty one yarder. Seahawks won a game on
Sunday without a touchdown because of what Myers was able
to do, including at the gun. And that's why I
think Shaheed is kind of the X factor, not just
because of the three that he posted as a receiver,
but the opportunity to either get them points or to
get them in position to get points in the kick
return game. My guess is the Rams won't even mess

(20:09):
with him, even though they have been able to put
some balls down in the landing zone. They'll just boot
it out to the back of the end zone and
take their chances against Sam Darnold. But I'll give it
the La sut of the kicking game two, which is
Harris and Neavis aka the sticker kicker. I call him
the three technique because he looks like a defensive tackle,
but he puts up threes.

Speaker 6 (20:27):
All that to say, the last time these two teams
got together, he had never attempted an NFL field goal.

Speaker 7 (20:32):
Now he's been really good back filling joshuaccarty in that role.
But you've got one of the league best who happened
to miss a game winning opportunity the last time these
teams got together, and someone who's never been a part
of this rivalry in a meaningful road to pass.

Speaker 1 (20:46):
If be like tonight, well I could argue the last
time these two teams met JB the MVP was Ethan Evans.
With that punts in the fourth quarter, I mean that,
and some badclock management by the Hawks on that last
drive could have been the difference between a sixty one
yard field goal ten to maybe a fifty yard field
goal attempt. So we'll see what happens tonight. Man, Hey, listen,
great stuff. Appreciate you doing this. Tell DeMarco we said

(21:07):
a low and we'll talk soon.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
Man.

Speaker 7 (21:09):
Appreciate it, But all right, good to catch up with
you guys.

Speaker 6 (21:13):
Say for me afterwards, just in case.

Speaker 1 (21:15):
You know what, I've had three since you've been on
the air, Man in your honor.

Speaker 2 (21:20):
JB.

Speaker 1 (21:20):
Long the voice of the Rams with us on the
radio show, and I was just looking at it because
he mentioned Rashid Shaheed a couple times. That was his
second game as a Hawk, the RAM game. Remember he
played in the Arizona game the week before, had one
catch for three yards in the RAM game, and then
all of a sudden went two for twenty seven on
five targets. But the last two games for Seattle, he's

(21:41):
really starting to pick it up. Twelve catches for one
hundred and forty one yards the last two games for
Rashid Shahed, and it kind of feels like he's the
number two guy now right moving forward behind Jackson Smith
and Jigba. Obviously the numbers won't show that because Cooper
Cup's gonna be the number two guy on paper. But
this is a different Rashid Shihed than the guy that

(22:02):
we saw the first time they play.

Speaker 3 (22:03):
Yeah, not only is he gonna get targets, I think
he's going to get rushes as well. I think he's
gonna be used on fly sweeps. I mean, he is
the type of guy that we as Seahawk fans have
been crying for for years. Yeah, and maybe we've got
him now and it's time to unleash him today.

Speaker 4 (22:20):
And they have started to as you mentioned the last
two games.

Speaker 2 (22:24):
Yeah, he's only had like three carries the last four weeks.

Speaker 1 (22:26):
But I think now that he's been here for a
month and a half, this kind of feels like the
time to go ahead and throw him out there. And
I'll tell you one thing that I'm kind of disappointed in, Dick,
And we haven't talked.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
About this much this year.

Speaker 1 (22:36):
This was an opportunity tonight if you would have looked
back in like I don't know, July, to say, fourth
and one, fourth and a half a yard from your
own forty yard line against the Rams in a big
game on Thursday Night football.

Speaker 2 (22:50):
What are we gonna hope to be able to do there?

Speaker 1 (22:53):
Give the ball to Jalen Milroe and that has not
developed at all. Instead, we've given it to aj Instead,
it's either been a J barner or you've been punting.
And maybe tonight is the game to punt because of
the way the Seahawk defense is playing. But God, how
great would it have been to see that develop into
a weapon that you could have used, and it's it's

(23:14):
been a nothing burger. It's been a complete, fat nothing burger.
And he's been inactive for almost every single game. He's
probably gonna be inactive again tonight. It just to me
is a big disappointment because I felt like that could
have been a weapon that maybe could have meant one
if not, maybe a couple of drives could have been extended.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
Well, I just think back, was it, which game was
it that he had the fumble on the pit?

Speaker 2 (23:38):
Preseason, preseason, time.

Speaker 4 (23:40):
Season that he had the bumble on the.

Speaker 3 (23:43):
I mean, it's just I'm wondering how much plays like that,
because he doesn't get on the field much, just stick
in a coach's mind. I don't even want to think
if if Jalen Miro goes down for like a two
yard loss on that play instead of tossing it to
the other team, I wonder how many carries he had.

Speaker 1 (24:00):
You may remember we got into an argument about that
at the Emeral Queen on what that's gonna mean for
the coaches, and I just felt like, my god, I mean, dude,
you got a shot here in the preseason to show
what you can do, and.

Speaker 2 (24:11):
You're mucking it up. I mean, and it pissed me
off because I was hopeful for him.

Speaker 1 (24:16):
Yes, I don't want the guy to lose this opportunity
because I want to be able to have a weapon
like that that gives them a chance to continue drives.
And the fact that you don't have it, I mean,
my god, that would have been phenomenal to have that. Tonight,
all right, we're gonna break a little fun with Audio
and then Mike Holgrin will join at four. As we
continue from Jimmy's Cracking Flames by the way pregame five
thirty kicko kickoff at six on ninety three three KJRFM.

Speaker 2 (24:43):
It's now time for Sufday and Digg's fun with Audio.

Speaker 8 (24:46):
Jimmy g pawn Star, Jimmy mister garoppolo.

Speaker 6 (24:50):
Now let's have some fun with audio.

Speaker 1 (24:53):
How I goes and girls back here at Jimmy's on
first day Rocus Atmosphere.

Speaker 2 (24:57):
Would you call this racus by the way again?

Speaker 1 (25:00):
Ready for the Hawks and Rams at five point fifteen,
we got cracking hockey against Calgary.

Speaker 2 (25:04):
At five point thirty. Pregame at six.

Speaker 1 (25:06):
O'clock tonight, postgame show, We've got two postgame shows. We
got Benton after the hockey game, and we got you
and Hugh after the Seahawk game live here from Jimmy's.
Mike Holmgrian joins us at four o'clock this afternoon. Rick
new heisl's gonna hop on as well about four twenty
eight because the college football playoffs start tomorrow with Alabama
Zoma unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (25:26):
All right, here we go, Hey, Dick, did you happen
to hear what's that?

Speaker 4 (25:30):
What's that?

Speaker 6 (25:30):
Dick?

Speaker 1 (25:30):
We starts in the NFL leading up to tonight's massive
clash NFL networks Kyle Brant talking about how this Sea
Hawk team does not get talked about enough national.

Speaker 9 (25:41):
You don't want to talk about the Seahawks. I've said
it all season long. There's something about them with that
logo and that brand that is just doesn't sizzle nationally.

Speaker 8 (25:50):
I don't care.

Speaker 9 (25:51):
You have the rams. We get it at Stafford. It's McVeigh.
It's the beautiful thing. It's all great. It's the Seahawks
night to be at home and to remind the world
we exist, and now on that we exist, we're really good.

Speaker 6 (26:02):
Do you guys know how good.

Speaker 9 (26:03):
This team is generally have three losses. Their three losses
on the season are by four points, by three, and
by two.

Speaker 6 (26:12):
This team is a breadth away from.

Speaker 8 (26:13):
A fourteen to oh team.

Speaker 9 (26:14):
This week, Sean mcvay's second baby has gotten more coverage
than Mike McDonald's eleventh win.

Speaker 6 (26:21):
All right, we can cover it.

Speaker 2 (26:22):
It's okay.

Speaker 9 (26:24):
Last week the Seahawks had a home, gritty, tough.

Speaker 2 (26:29):
Gut check win, and all.

Speaker 9 (26:31):
Of the talk was on the old fart losing quarterback
on the other team.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
So it's interesting we talk about the Seahawks and how
those games have gone. The Rams lost by seven to
the World champions in Philadelphia back in the week three,
by the way, then they lost it overtime to San Francisco,
and they lost a three point game of Carolina.

Speaker 2 (26:51):
It's amazing how good both teams. Teams have been.

Speaker 3 (26:54):
Well in the last three Matthew Stafford wins over Seattle, yeah,
have been by two, six in overtime, and one. Yeah,
So Matthew Stafford has had the Hawk's number, but only
by a whisker.

Speaker 1 (27:06):
Well, they've played twenty eight games combined, and they've literally
been in every game. They played every game twenty eight
for twenty eight with two minutes to go in the
fourth quarter. They've been in every single game. Was that
the hallmark of Pete Carroll?

Speaker 3 (27:17):
Remember we had that eighty five games in a row
where we didn't lose by two.

Speaker 1 (27:21):
Score's right, that's right. I mean this is again, this
is nationally. This should be a gigantic game tonight across
the country. All right, hey, Dick, did you happen to
hear that?

Speaker 2 (27:30):
What's that, Dick? Uh?

Speaker 1 (27:32):
ESPN's Dan Orlovsky said earlier today the Seahawks cannot make
the Super Bowl with the way Sam Darnold's playing right now.

Speaker 2 (27:42):
They wain Sam is not.

Speaker 1 (27:44):
We talked about this, oh and then Ryan Clark followed
it up with his thoughts on what Arlovsky said regarding
the way Sam's played and how it impacts the Seahawks'
Super Bowl chances.

Speaker 10 (27:57):
When you watch this defense, you get ill feelings when
you watch the way Mike McDonald can be multiple, the
way that they use their chess pieces, and it's very
similar to what he became in Baltimore when he had
guys like Kyle Hamilton. So you get excited about the
way they can pressure, the way they can turn you over,
the way they can stop the run.

Speaker 8 (28:15):
Because if you go back to.

Speaker 10 (28:16):
The first game, early on the Los Angeles Rams were
moving the ball by getting chunk runs.

Speaker 8 (28:21):
They stopped that.

Speaker 10 (28:22):
They made this game close and had an opportunity to
win even with Sam Donald playing that way. After the
Rams games, I think at the two things happened. One,
Sam Donald's confidence was shot right and right now he's
playing like if I don't see it open, I can't
let it go right, I can't let it fly because
when you turn the football over like that, you get
those feelings and now the disguises on the back end

(28:43):
that start out in shell coverages and move to single
high dissimilated pressures, the zone pressures. Anytime he sees things
change after the snap, he's so hesitant. If that doesn't change,
this team can't win a Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (28:56):
So I think a lot of what people are talking
about with Sam Donald is because of that game with.

Speaker 2 (29:01):
The Rams five weeks ago.

Speaker 1 (29:03):
If you look at his last five games, he's got
a passer rating of eighty one point six Dick. But
that includes that four interception game against the Rams. If
you take out that four interception game against the Rams,
which I know you just can't do that. He can
just say last four games, sure, Sam Darnold. The last
four games, the Hawks are four to zero. He's got
a passer rating of ninety five with five touchdowns and

(29:24):
one pick. Now, the completion percentage isn't there. The yards
per attempt, I get it isn't there. But this is
the cool thing for me. And maybe I'm just being
a homer. And if I am telling me the Hawks
are four and now when their quarterback isn't even playing
that great, He's not been elite by any standard at all.
But when you normally have a defense dominated team, can
we agree this is a defense with dominated team. How

(29:46):
many of the great defensive dominated teams in the NFL
also have an elite level quarterback who's playing at an
MVP level on the offense?

Speaker 2 (29:55):
Almost never, none of them never, They never do.

Speaker 1 (29:58):
Think about the Bears and Jim McMahon, the Race and
Trent del Ravens, even the Seahawks and Russell Wilson, the Ravens,
the Buccaneers exactly, Brad Johnson, I mean, give me a break,
Joe Flacco, come on, So, I don't know, I mean,
does Sam Darnald need to play play better? Yes, do
I think he needs to play exponentially better for.

Speaker 2 (30:14):
The Hawks to win? No, I don't. Well.

Speaker 3 (30:16):
And I also think that Sam Donald has been hamstrung
by his offensive coordinator for the last four weeks.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
And I'm not saying that's the bad thing.

Speaker 3 (30:24):
No, no, no, no, no, wait, let me finish, all right,
I'm not saying Clint Kubiak did anything wrong over the
last four weeks. I think Clint Kubiak realized that as
long as we don't give the other team points, none
of those four teams are going to beat us.

Speaker 4 (30:38):
So I'm just not gonna do anything to give the
other team.

Speaker 2 (30:41):
Points because we're gonna take chances.

Speaker 1 (30:43):
Of what you're saying, I thought you're gonna give him
the grub treatment for a second. Oh no, he doesn't
deserve that. I thought Kubiak was getting the grub treatment
for a minute.

Speaker 4 (30:50):
That Kubiak is far out outshine yez.

Speaker 2 (30:52):
Wow? All right, Hey, Dick, did you happen to hear that?

Speaker 6 (30:56):
What's that? Dick?

Speaker 3 (30:58):
Four?

Speaker 2 (30:58):
Five six seven one? You know what? I want a
little Danny Hurley in my life to hear it.

Speaker 1 (31:04):
In the press conference following their win versus Texas last Friday,
Yukon head coach Danny Hurley was a little confused on
who was asking him a question and then first time,
really you've got all your pieces together.

Speaker 6 (31:19):
Oh I'm sorry, I.

Speaker 7 (31:22):
Was just.

Speaker 3 (31:26):
Man.

Speaker 1 (31:28):
I don't think he was confused as to who was
asking a question.

Speaker 2 (31:31):
I think he was confused as to where he was. Yes,
he totally for good.

Speaker 1 (31:35):
How many times do you get into a conversation I've
never done this on the air thing god, where you
drop an F bomb and then followed up with another F.

Speaker 2 (31:41):
Bomb and then an S bomb.

Speaker 1 (31:42):
Oh sorry, and then just keep going down, down, down,
down down, I believe city. I don't know, man, I
mean I think Danny Hurley is the kind of guy
that once he starts losing at Yukon, which he probably
never will, but if he ever starts losing at Yukon,
he's the kind of guy that would go from everybody
loving him to him rubbing people the wrong way real fast.

Speaker 2 (32:00):
It's Bob Knight, Yes.

Speaker 4 (32:01):
To absolutely Bob Knight.

Speaker 11 (32:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (32:04):
I mean he doesn't throw chairs like Bob Knight, but.

Speaker 3 (32:06):
Right, he's just he's too much for him.

Speaker 1 (32:10):
We had time for one more Anders or now show
me all right, Hey, Dick, did you happen to hear that?

Speaker 2 (32:15):
What's that? Dick? All right, let's go with number four
on Pardon My Take.

Speaker 1 (32:20):
Earlier this week, John Grudy was asked, who is pixar
to go to the super Bowl at this point of
the NFL season.

Speaker 8 (32:28):
You know, I'm gonna go on a limb here. I'm
gonna take Seattle.

Speaker 11 (32:30):
I think they're as good a defense as there is
in the league. I still like Sam Darnold. I think
they have some balance and they have a big, big
time receiver, just like the Rams do. I think Seattle's
gonna get the Rams on this short week.

Speaker 8 (32:43):
But I love the Seahawks, and.

Speaker 11 (32:45):
I'm going with the Houston Texans.

Speaker 8 (32:47):
Man who I just think they are surgeon They are.

Speaker 11 (32:51):
Special on defense, and it's not just the past rushers.

Speaker 8 (32:54):
It's not just the corners.

Speaker 11 (32:56):
It's a collection of really good players, and scroud is
taking off. I think they're playing with great confidence. I
wouldn't be surprised to see Seattle play Houston.

Speaker 8 (33:05):
I know the networks would love that.

Speaker 4 (33:07):
Yeah, the networks would love seeing a seven to sixth
super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (33:10):
I gotta tell you.

Speaker 1 (33:11):
It's funny though, to me when people say things like
you know what, I'm gonna go out on a limb here,
and I'm gonna take the second best favorite to win
the Super Bowl. I had a team this won nine
of eleven game and the Seattle Sea. Let's talk about
the greatest baseball player of all time.

Speaker 2 (33:24):
Well, I'm gonna go out on a limb. I'm gonna say, Babe.

Speaker 1 (33:26):
Ruth, come on, John, it's fun, that's great, But they
are the number two favorite right now on the board
to win the whole freaking thing.

Speaker 2 (33:36):
All right, we're gonna break live with Jamie's Mike.

Speaker 1 (33:38):
Come Grin is gonna join us next on ninety three
three kJ RFM.
