Wilner from the San Jose Mercury News, Johnny, how are you man?
I am good? Thanks, howyou guys? We're good. Training camp
starts tomorrow for you, Dub.They had little media day thing, three
hours of media talking fun over atyou, Dub, Brendan Carroll, Steve
Belichick, Jedfish, all the coaches, bunch of players. They brought out
Will Rogers and Damon Williams. Theybrought out Carson Brunner, Jonah Coleman,

(02:53):
Adam Muhammad, Elijah Jackson. Theywere all there at practice today. But
I was a little bit surprised byyour thoughts, your translation of what you
heard Jedfish say at Big Ten Mediaday last week. So give give people
a thought on some of your takeawaysfrom what you heard from Jed last week.
I thought, whether it was intentionalor not, he did a very

(03:14):
good job in Indianapolis of lowering expectationsfor his team this year. You know,
he went into considerable depth about howunpressd attended you Dubbs. Turnover has
been right, twenty one of twentytwo new starters, entirely new, coaching

(03:34):
staff, entirely new. You knowwhat strikes staff, And he used that
word, it's unprecedented. And sothen he was talking, you know,
we're not worried about the record. We're just going out there to play hard,
and we want people to know thatthey've played you dub and make it
feel like it's been two games inone because they're walking that way from playing

(03:55):
us in a very physical game, you know. And just I'm listening,
I'm thinking, you know, heis, maybe he's trying to lower expectations
because he's got a new team. And it made me. I walked away
thinking, yeah, I don't thinkI have overrated you dub it all in
thinking that they are probably a goodpick for somewhere in the middle of the

(04:15):
conference. Well, I think inthe middle of this conference could still be
a Bowl team. I don't thinkthere's any question about that. I just
see when I look at this team, John, I still see a lot
of talent, particularly if you thefurther away from the lines you get.
I see a lot of talent, and I think that should be enough to
beat everybody except for the most eliteof the elite on their schedule. And

(04:40):
and maybe I'm just assuming that thebrand of Washington is bigger than it is,
but I think the brand of Washington'spretty damn big, John. The
brand is uh, but like yousaid, you know, the brand does
not protect a quarterback and block onthird and four when you need a first
down in Iowa City or West Laffey. Yeah, you know what. You
know, those inside the line ofscrimmage is where it's one and lost.

(05:05):
You have had arguably the best lineof scrimmage in the country last year.
That was a big part of thesuccess. And I'm just not sure what
to make of them up front.I agree with you. The perimeter is
pretty darn good, there's no doubtabout that. We don't know about the
quarterback. We think he's gonna bepretty good. I don't know that he's

(05:26):
gonna be really good every week.I mean, if you said to me
the over under for win total isseven, you know I'd be more inclined
to take the over than the under. But I think somewhere right around there
is seven. Seven and a halfis probably right. Yeah, I get
I guess the question is who iselite in the Big Ten this year?

(05:48):
Oregon is elite. I can't believeI said that Ohio State likely is going
to be elite? Is that it? Though? I mean? Is Penn
State elite? Is USC elite? Is Michigan with the amount of guys they
lost in a brand new head coach, are they elite? How many truly
elite teams are they john in thisconference? I think that there's probably just

(06:08):
two I would agree with that,But I also think that there are there's
a massive teams that are close toyou dub maybe a little bit better,
maybe a little bit worse, butwithin that margin where U dubbed could you
know, could easily lose, Right. I mean, I'm going into the
season thinking there's gonna be a lotof udub games where the points spread is

(06:30):
four or five points either way, right, And so those are kind of
toss up games. And if yougot enough toss up games on your schedule,
it is hard to get out ofthere with nine or ten wins overall.
Well, you know the ones thatjust jump out of me, John,
are Iowa, USC, and Rutgers, right, I mean, those
are probably the three at Rutgers atIowa. You'd feel a lot better if

(06:53):
those two games, if those twogames were at home, and then that
USC game. I mean, thosethose three games are probably all within three
or four points on the spread, right they probably yeah, I mean right
now, if you're doing lines rightnow, they probably all of them are
exactly and then you're you figure they'regonna be a significant underdog against Oregon.

(07:14):
The Michigan game, I don't knowthat you know that that's probably pretty Michigan's
probably favored by a few points there. But so that's five games we've named
where you know, if you're gonnahave an elite season, you've got to
win three of those, right, and and then you're not accounting for the
other seven, which haves you know, there's always a chance for an upset

(07:39):
or two. So it's gonna behard to get up to that nine to
ten win tier. I think,Well, I'm curious what Michigan does before
they come to town. They gotTexas and USC before they play the Huskies,
by the way, And I don'thave any idea what USC's defense is
gonna look like. I assume they'rebetter than they were a year ago,
but their schedule does not look likeU Dubs before that game by the way,
on the fifth of October. Sothat's something to keep an eye on

(08:00):
for sure. But John Willner waswith us and John Dick and I were
talking yesterday. But the TV partners, so it's it's Peacock, it's NBC.
Uh, it's Fox. There's noABC, there's no ESPN. Is
that correct this year for the BigTen? Because I heard I heard Fish
say to somebody at media Day hethinks the Iowa game is going to be
a big Newton kickoff. I'm like, how can he even know that that

(08:22):
game is in the middle of October. Yeah, he's just guessing on that.
If I was good, I thinkthere's a you know, there's a
decent chance. It also depends onwhat the Big the Big twelve has that
day, because you know Big tenis Fox has Big Big ten and Big
twelve. Uh So the Washington fanshionthough there are five spots, five networks

(08:46):
where you can see the Huskies thisyear it's NBC Peacock, it is CBS,
it is Fox FS one also andthen the Big ten networks. So
technically I guess that's six. Butthere could be some games on FS one.
I doubt there'll be many, butthat's an option as well. Is
a Big ten missing out by notbeing on the Disney Family? Oh?

(09:09):
I think huge And that was ahuge piece of when they announced that billion
dollar TV deal in August of twentytwenty two. The thing that stood out
is the Big ten and ESPN havehave gone their separate ways. ESPN reportedly
made a bid, there wasn't theBig Ten didn't take, which means Fox

(09:31):
didn't take it right this Fox peopleshould remember Fox owns the Big ten's media
rights. Fox was in the roomwhen the other networks came to present their
media packages to the Big ten.Fox executives were sitting in the room at
that time, and obviously Fox andthe ESPN are rivals, and Big ten

(09:52):
decided not to go with ESPN.I think that that's going to be a
big deal because you know who isdriving that narrative for the playoff when we
until late October. It is allabout ESPN, that's right, and that
could end up hurting the Big ten. We'll see, right. Well,
I gotta tell you, man,if I'm Jen Cohen or any other USC
booster of significance, I'm looking atLincoln Riley and saying, how does Jed

(10:16):
Fish have a better class than youdo? The guy just got to Washington.
You've been here now for what threefour years, and you're behind Jedfish.
Now they were as high as thirteenth, Now they're at eighteenth. They
have eight four star players for reference, Kaitlyn de Boor, I think at
three of them in his last classin America's Davis was one of them,
by the way, and he tookoff. So I mean, just overall,
how surprising is this that Jedfish andthe collective up here have been able

(10:41):
to do this much damage to turna complete you know what show into at
least for now, a top twentyclass in the country. Well, I
think for now is a big partof it, because these days you just
have no idea what's going to happen. USC had USC had a great class,
they had those two stud defensive linemanfrom Georgia and those guys have both

(11:03):
decommitted, So we have no ideawhat's going to happen. But certainly,
like as a moment in time, you know, Fish is really rolling up
there, and obviously their NIL supportis a big part of it. USC's
nil game is not what you wouldexpect from program of that ILK. But

(11:24):
you know, we also don't knowwhat the transfer market's going to be.
Like, I am paying so muchless attention to any of the recruiting these
days because it means almost nothing. It's it's it's it's sad in a way,
but it means almost nothing until signingday because the way these kids are
moving around. John I saw whereCanzana wrote about the relationship between the c

(11:45):
dub and the PAC two and howit got started. So what what did
that network see in Washington State andOregon State. Well, it seees a
chance to put on some high profilegames because those teams are playing. You
know, they've each got a coupleof games against Power four and then they've
got some good games against the MountainWest, and you know, the Mountain
West is good enough to be onCBS and Fox, So it's certainly good

(12:09):
enough to be an opponent in agame on the CWU. But a lot
of it I think is just thisCW was looking for a college football inventory.
They've got a certain number of ACCgames. I don't remember how many
of this is off the top ofmy head, but like, if you're
showing an ACC game, it's agreat way to promote the Pac twelve game,

(12:31):
yeah, and help help build youraudience. They they are getting more
and more into sports. They've got, uh, live golf. I believe,
they got the NASCAR and Exfinity Series, and now they're getting into college
football. So live sports is whereit's at. I don't watch one hole
of live golf live, by theway, just for the record, not
one. That's one more than me. That's amazing. I've seen a tournament.

(12:54):
It's actually it's actually pretty well done. They've got a lot of features
that that NBC and CBS don't puton. For the I gotta watch at
some point, but for fans thatare kind of still pissed off about the
lack of a conference affiliation for OregonState and Wazoo, look into your crystal
ball baron John and you tell usfive years from now, the Oregon State
and Wazoo have legitimate conference homes.Well, they will certainly have a legitimate

(13:20):
conference home because working scenario is they'rein the Mountain West, right, and
to me that it's not powerful, but it is legitimate. I think the
most likely scenario, if I werebetting, I would bet that they reformed
the PAC twelve in some way witha combination of Mountain West and other schools.

(13:41):
But you know, we'll see.I don't think the ACC is gonna
end up with as a landing spotfor them, and I don't think the
Big twelve is either, despite youknow, all the chast that's going on
in the ACC, I just don'tsee how that works for those two schools.
So to me, it's either MountainWest or rebuilt PAC twelve. So

(14:03):
who's inviting whom? Is it OregonState and Wazoo that are kind of asking
people out on dates from the fromthe Mountain West to join this? Yeah?
Or is it the or is itthe Mountain West? You know?
Seeing, Okay, do we wantWashington State and Oregon State? How is
this working? Well? My cynicalview would say they're gonna do what Fox

(14:26):
tells him to do because the MountainWest TV contract with Fox and CBS expires
in the summer of twenty twenty six. The summer of twenty twenty six is
also when Washington State and Oregon Statehave to have a new conference a home
either a rebuilt PAC twelve or bein the Mountain West. So to me,
those two things are are completely intertwined. A new TV deal for the

(14:48):
Mountain West schools and Washington State andOregon State. That's it's one and the
same basically. So whatever Fox says, whatever configuration, Fox wants, the
brand, the name of the conferencethat Fox wants, and CBS may be
involved two, but I think thatwill be the prime driver. They're gonna
do what gets the most money outof Fox. Yeah right, Hey did

(15:11):
you see the Oregon Ducks had aninflatable duck on the river in Indianapolis for
media Day. I did see that, Yes I did. Can you please
do me a favor and try toget them to bring that to every road
game, especially Lake Washington, sowe can pop it when it shows.
I was actually thinking about that.I don't care where that duck goes until
it shows up on Lake Washington, and then my attention to show me some

(15:33):
balls bring it here. I mean, that thing won't last a second.
Are you kidding me? It'll bejust a busted down plastic carcass floating across
Lake Washington. I mean, you'retelling me that would not be a great
site for Husky fans to pop thatthing and have a just deflate, just
like the football team did in thefourth quarter of the game in Week six
last year. Come on, Idon't think that duck would last five minutes

(15:56):
on the lake. I really don't. It would get it would get snipered
from every single direction. We canjust send we can just send an email
out to the NRA and just sayhey, before the game, right now,
I've gone too far. That's goingtoo far, all right, John,
great stuff, man, appreciate it, buddy. We're talking a week
pal. Thanks all right? JohnWilner with us. I mean, Dick,

(16:19):
don't don't you hope they bring thatthing to Seattle. It's a perfect
spot for it too. And what'sthe over under of the minutes that that
thing would last if they dropped itfrom a boat, you know, a
few hundred yards from shore and thenjust took a boating out there. I
mean two minutes maybe absolutely. Firstof all, you got to do it

(16:40):
well. I mean, I justtell a Oregon fan, show me some
balls and do it on a gameday, right, Like, don't put
it in there like a Friday nightwhen there's nobody hanging around. But the
first sign of that thing on socialmedia and it's done. Brian Schwetz,
Aer, head coach of the Soundersfive forty five tonight. Uh, we'll
do a little Dick and Dave ofthe locker Room without the creepy intro at
six pm. I like the Boston. I know you do. I like

(17:00):
it too, but it really freaksa lot of people out. And the
key in this business is not tofreak out your audience. Denzel Boston,
Jonah Coleman At six pm, whatdo you say we go back and talk
about what you guys saw at thevMac. I was not out there.
I'm here at the Emerald Queen. You guys were there. I think if
we're gonna send Jackson's ass out tothe vMac, we need to get a
report what we saw from practice today. Oh, I'm ready. He was

(17:22):
out with his notepad and everything good. How about the top seventeen things that
Jackson belts witnessed from training camp.Next on ninety three to three kJ I
RFM, it's now time for somedayin Dig's one with audio. Jimmy Gawn
Star, Jimmy mister garoppolo. Nowlet's have some fun with audio. Hey,

(17:45):
real quick, Dick, before weget to a little fun with audio,
slash hat as you hear that, that's not Dick. I think we
need Jackson's thoughts on what he sawfrom practice today. We're gonna send you
out there and let you leave thebosom of the studios. It better be
worth something. I was really thefirst of all, is really embarrassed when
Jackson ran onto the field and saidthe coach, that's not how it's supposed

(18:07):
to be done. On my askingfor autographs again to do that again,
just had to corral what to seeJackson. Well, let's see, I'm
gonna make sure to reference the listof things that I can't say. So
all right, so you saw nothing, let's start. No, can't say
you know did that? No,can't say sam through that. First of

(18:29):
all, he's doing this and he'sleaving you and I hold the back tomorrow.
You know that right there? Ofcourse, yeah, they're gonna get
all he did say on the air. Listen, Tyler Lockett said it in
the this isn't breaking any news oranything. DK Metcalf had a fantastic touchdown
today, Tyler Lockett said it.We can say that very impressive touchdown today.

(18:51):
Great Jake Bobo had one the otherday. Unbelievable. Remember Billy Madison,
when who's the guy that was takenon Billy Madison for the family fortune?
Eric? Is it? Eric?Eric? You're gonna give the company
to Eric? And he hired thejanitor for like inside information from from remember
that, Yeah, Slippy drives ablue car milk for lunch. I forget

(19:18):
I did fish that. People thinkthat potentially like the l A Rams are
listening to us on the radio.Well that's what I got. Did you
hear what Softie and Dick just saidabout this formating? But at the same
time, sorry, look at lookat Bob Candota's Twitter, I mean,
look at reporters here are tweeting outthe sequence of a sequence of plays and

(19:41):
like, what's what like when theyget drove by the Broncos in week one?
You can blame Yeah, exactly.Sean pay had all the advanced information
Dick, did you happen to hearthat? What's that? We start with
an old buddy, Michael Peennix Junior? How about this? At a press
conference over the weekend in Atlanta,Brookie quarterback Michael Pednix was distracted by a
Falcon fan in the background yelling goOregon. It was ready with an immediate

(20:06):
cutback. It's good, you know, I was just telling Coachman, I
like that, you know, Ilike to be able to go against the
ones and and uh, anytime Igo Ducks. We whooped them three times.
But like I said, you know, it feels good. That's right,
Mike, That is right, mygod. And you know what,

(20:26):
they may never play a bigger gameagainst the Huskies as long as they live.
I mean, what's what's bigger aregular season game to get into the
twelve team playoff? For the fourteam playoff? What's more special? Four
team obviously, and that's never gonnahappen again unless Washington and Oregon meet in
the playoff. That's right. Hewill never play a bigger game than they
did in Vegas and Washington got him. So to every Oregon fan out there,

(20:49):
like I said yesterday, you canwear that for the rest of your
superass lives. Yeah. And they'vegot nothing and they got nothing over us
unless they meet in the final fouror beyond in the playoffs. Yeah,
I love it all right? Uh? Hey, Dick, did you happen
to hear what's that? Dick?Let's go to number number three? Real
quick, Mitchell? Uh. Yesterdayon Good Morning Football in the NFL Network,

(21:11):
coach Jamie Rdall send a message tosideline reporters around the country who start
interview questions with the phrase quotes tellme about part of the sideline reporter packed
Please don't say tell me about.Tell me about. I don't care if
it's I don't care if it's specialty, and I don't care who you're getting
talk about. Talk about it.I like Kyle's talk about it, coach,

(21:34):
tell me about. Don't do it. It's end it with we cannot
start tell me about and then endit with the question. It's physically impossible,
it's grammatically incorrect. Don't do it. Don't do it. Suck and
tell me about show me about tops. I don't even get me started.
And what's dramatically correct anymore? Youknow where I'm going with this. Yes,
don't even get me started. What'sdramatically correct. We're not going to

(21:57):
go down that road because people areon stuff out there that makes no damn
sense at all when it comes togrammar. And then, second of all,
I think she's wrong. I thinkwhen you allow somebody to have an
open forum, to just let theinformation or the thoughts flow, sometimes you
get your best stuff. I agreewith that premise. I will say,

(22:18):
though, that I got into arun of talk about and tell me about
about I don't know, ten yearsago or so when I was, you
know, doing a lot of interviewsand the and I was like, you
know, I gotta change that.And I've I've made a concerted effort.
And I don't think. I don'tthink in any one of my questions that
I asked about seven different Huskies todaydid I use talk about or tell me

(22:40):
about one time? So at least, at least I've learned something over the
last ten years. I do agreewith James. I have no problem with
it. I disagree with you,There's nothing wrong with it. There's other
ways to get your dual opinions, though, that to say talk about or
tell me, Yeah, if you'redoing it every question seven times in a
row, talk about the offensive line, talk about the quarterbacks, talk about
your coach, talk about your experiencehere, talk about your breakfast today.

(23:03):
But asking in a question, Iguess you can ask an open question.
I don't agree. I don't agree, especially when it comes to college athletes.
When you give a college athlete adetailed question, you are pigeing pigeon,
holding them into only answering that ifyou give them an open ended question,
sometimes you're gonna just let the juicesflow. You never know what you'll

(23:25):
get. So I I disagree,But you do you remember makes you feel
good, it makes you and Jamieheard all sleeping. I just think it's
a kind of a lazy way tostart a c don't agree, don't agree.
I think it's a great way ofgetting good stuff out of something.
All right, ask Miller next timeyou see him. You'll tell I will,
I will tell you. I'm sureyou will. All Right, Hey,
Dick, did you happen to hearthat? What's that? Dick?

(23:49):
Number four? Number four? Howabout that for a great way to ask
a question? Hey, Denzel uhRashad Penny officially retiring from football at just
twenty eight years old after six injuryplague years in the NFL. Let's go
back to May of eighteen when ReggieBush said that Penny would have the biggest

(24:11):
impact of any offensive player in thetwenty eighteen NFL draft. I gotta go
with this guy, that mister doingeverything in college, Rashot Penny. Ooh
oh, okay, guy was anabsolute beast in cause I've been calling him
a new Beast mode because you know, they've been trying to replace find the
new Beast mode. And I don'tknow why he didn't get the highest praises

(24:33):
coming out, why he wasn't invitedmaybe to the Heisman ceremony, all those
things with this guy literally does itall. I think he's gonna have a
huge impact right away because they needhim on an offensive Well, I can't
criticize for Shot Penny. I don'tknow, Jackson. You do a quick
Twitter search and go back to mythoughts watching Rareshot Penny play during the bowl
game of his last year for SanDiego State. I was saying the same
stuff, same stuff even before theSeahawks drafts. So this is Marshawn Lynch

(24:56):
light. I love this kid.Get him in Seattle. Now, look
the problem was never the talent.I may have been right about his talents.
He just couldn't stay damn healthy.I mean, yeah, I remember
an issue with his skill, right, I was totally with you. I
loved Rashad Penny when he was Iremember the game he had against Stanford.
I kept referring to that he hadlike two hundred yards against Stanford and was

(25:18):
just too untouchable. But he wasnot on any of the draft Knicks board
for first round. It was SonyMichelle, it was Nick Chubb, it
was Ronald Jones, it was Carrieon Johnson. Those were the guys that
were supposed to be taken in thelate first early second round, and Rashad
Penny was supposed to be about thefifth or sixth running back taken after Sakwon

(25:41):
Barkley, and he went really high, and you know, there's Nick Chubb
going eight picks later. You know, and imagine what this team would have
looked like when Nick chubbed the lastfew years. Well, but why did
people pass on Penny? Was itbecause they thought he would be banged up
or because of the competition. Imean, he had two or twenty yards
against Army in an old game andhe went for two hundred yards five games

(26:04):
in a row. At San DiegoState. He ran for twenty two hundred
yards and twenty three touchdowns as asenior. I mean, he was a
monster. He was, and Iliked him. I liked him. I
can't say that I didn't want himto draft him. But I'm just I'm
just telling you that he was notsupposed to go as high as he did.
Well, maybe Schneider should start listeningthen to those draft teams drafts learned

(26:26):
something, for God's sakes. Allright, we're gonna break Olympic up Day
from Paris and Brian Schmetzer. Next, our non stop coverage Joe Seahawks training
camp continues from the Virginia Mason AthleticsCenter, brought to you by Northwest Handling

Thomas now, how would you know? What? Are you a fan of

he's probably been in the building before. Anyway, joining us right now on

(27:14):
the radio show, thinking very muchthe head coach of your sounders FC,
he's probably an Elvis fan. Idon't know, he's been around for a
while. Brian Schmetzer, Are youa big Elvis guy? For sure?
Christina and I listen to oldies ona radio when we're driving around in the
car, for sure. Yeah.Yeah, you strike me as kind of
an oldies guy for sure. Yeah, good, good after a little bit

(27:36):
Beatles maybe, yeah, Beatles, yeah, some of that stuff. There
you go, all right, well, Brian, Brian Smetzer's with us,
Yeah, I got it. Twonothing went over Minnesota last Friday. It
took a while to get the offensiveengines going. But would you like would
you not like from the win?I love that we won, that's number

(27:57):
one. Love that we scored twogoals. Jordan Morris again on a hot
streak. Paul Rothrock is becoming, you know, maybe more than just a
pretty cool story of a local kid. But you know, a kid who's
really making the most and you know, deservedly in the starting lineup conversation.

(28:17):
But you know, there were somethings there early on in the game that
I didn't like. Minnesota had sometransition moments. Look, even when the
guy got red carded, they almostscored first. So a little bit of
loose defensive play sometime, but youknow, we were able to overcome that
and score the goals that we needed. Speaking of the red card on Dotson,
how agreed just in your mind? Was that play that was? You

(28:40):
know, we know the kid,he's actually a local kid, played a
crossfire. He's a nice kid.I think it was reckless, dick.
I don't think he meant anything maliciousby it, but he came in late.
I mean, we're I was stillpretty quick, and he just jumped
there and got to the ball first, and Hassani came through him, and
you know it was he was afor sure a red card. I don't
think there was any question there.Yeah, Well, the question is how

(29:04):
is Raoul doing after that? Well, that's that's kind of the bummer.
I mean he's out of two tothree weeks, so you know that play
cost him across the club. Butyou know it's it's not like an ACL
injury. It's just as mcl itcame down and kind of twisted it a
little bit. But it's still twoto three weeks oft. On the injury

(29:25):
front, Cody Baker underwent surgery afew days ago on his right wrist.
How long is he out? Yeah, he's out three weeks. That's a
scaphoid bone in your wrist. Thatapparently is you know, he's not a
goalkeeper, but apparently it's you know, for healthy function of your hand.
It needed to be done. Wepicked the league's cup schedule to get it
done. You know, it's amonth here that we're in this tournament.

(29:45):
So it was bummer for the kid, but he had to do it well.
Brian, Before you move on,I want to go back as you
mentioned roth Rock and how he's beenplaying forward. Are you kind of forced
to start him as he locked himselfinto a starting spot. Well, he's
locked himself into some pretty heavy conversationsamongst the coaching staff. I mean,

(30:07):
look, we've got we've got agood team. You know, our normal
lineup of you know, Alex Roldanaright back, Christian you know dalea veg
is a new money guy, LeoChu who he spent two point five million
dollars on. I mean Paul couldstart seriously, could start over some of
those guys. I mean I couldmove Christian back to the right back,

(30:30):
put Paul on. I could putChristian back in the middle for JP and
put Paul on. I put DailyVeg on the right or as a ten
and put Paul on. Those arethe types of conversations that we're having.
Does Pedro look on You know he'sclose, Dick, getting a great question
and getting closer. You saw someof the technical ability he had. He
just needs a little bit more gamefitness. Uh. And I think we're

(30:53):
going to see what we paid forway back when in the beginning of the
year. I think he's going tobe good. Yeah. Ryan Speccher's with
us. You got a League's Cupgame coming up, and I'm going to
try not to butcher the name ofthis team. It's Club the Coxa.
I sprained my necoxa last week.Well, you're getting old, Dick.

(31:15):
It's gonna happen. A let's keepyour Cocoxa in your pants club. I'm
sorry they are so immature. Jackson, for all of this, Brian,
I wasn't thinking about any of this. He went down that road lumen Field
Club the Coxa in the league's cupgame. Tell me about these guys,

(31:37):
I know nothing about them. Well, Club is a really good team,
you know, they forward, They'vegot a really good number and I'm actually
really excited to see Club Niccoxa andof them play here in front of our
fans. It's always good to playagainst different opponents. Well, Dick I
has spent my drink all from mysurprise me. Oh god, have Keey

(32:02):
gets you into one? How you'vegot you know you got to watch Nacaxa
the night against Minnesota right to prepare. How do you take in that game?
Do you do it by yourself? You do with your wife? You
know what are the coaches? No, I'm gonna I'm gonna watch Club Nacoxa
with a glass of wine and thisgame starting here in like eight minutes,
and you know I'm gonna see whatthey got. Yeah, Well you mentioned

(32:24):
you mentioned the coaches meetings and howroth Rock has really kind of put Can
you take us behind the scenes, because I assume that in the end you've
got the final say, but youalso want to take into account the opinions
of your coaches and maybe even sometimesyour players. So how do you do
that? You know, some coachessay, look, this is a dictator

(32:44):
ship. I'm the final word. That's it, that's all. Or others
say, this is a democracy. We're gonna we're gonna discuss this as a
team. How do you go aboutthat? It's Sophie, It's definitely a
dictatorship. Make the decision. Butyou know I have to take input because

(33:05):
you know, I'm not always right. I mean, my decisions are not
always correct. So you know,Preki has a ton of experience. Freddie
Warez has been an MLS coach andhe's, you know, closest to player
that we have in those coaches meetingsbecause he just retired a couple of years
ago. Probably still could be plannedif he wanted to. And you know,
those are good discussions. Tommy Dutrissees it from a completely different view

(33:30):
as a goalkeeper, so they arealways spirited discussions. And then I sometimes
sleep on those decisions and then I'llget up the next morning and make the
final call. Coach, final thingfor me? Do you like this break?
You mentioned the surgery during the longmonth long break from MLS played.
Do you like being off of MLSplay for that long? Well, it

(33:53):
is. It is challenging. Now. You could look at it two ways,
Dick. You could say, eithera, you know, last year
we bombed out of the tournament early, but that gave us a reset.
We were able to rest, wehad a break, we get the guys
away, we came back, endedup second in the Western Conference. Or

(34:14):
you could say, look, we'reriding a really good wave of momentum right
now. Uh, you know, and we want to keep that going.
So you could look at it bothways. I'm just hopeful that we can
get a good result and move throughin the tournament. Maybe play another couple
of Mexican teams. I think thatwould be I think that would be good
for this particular group. All right, good luck against the COXA at Luman.

(34:37):
Go get him and we'll talk ina week. Man appreciate a coaching.
Okay, guys care, we arejust come on, we are so
immature on this radio show. Nobodyelse in this town, nobody else in

(34:57):
this town that would do what wedo. There's no question about it,
because nobody else is this unprofessional, you know, Schmetcher's laughing his balls off
right. No. Five point fiftysix. We're gonna break more Huskies From
Media Day, Denzel Boston, JonahColeman coming up on ninety three three kJ RFM
