I know one guy who knows what it's like to
coach in big games, our friend Mike Holmgren joining us
right now on the radio show How are you Man?
Speaker 5 (01:46):
I'm doing good, guys, how's it going? The Mariners. I'm pumped,
you know. And that ticket thing that you've always been
a very generous person. Yeah, well this is really impressive.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
I learned from you, man, I learned from you. You
taught me how to be generous. And I am just
picking up the slack for you now.
Speaker 5 (02:04):
Man.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
But you know, let's talk about that a little bit.
It's a big weekend.
Speaker 4 (02:07):
I mean, obviously you were here in two thousand, two
thousand and one when we had those great epic runs.
And I kind of feel bad because all the buzz
right now, Mike is about the Mariners. I mean, could
that be potentially maybe a good thing for the Seahawks
that maybe they can have a game where maybe the
pressure is off at least from the fan base a
little bit. Or does it matter at all?
Speaker 5 (02:29):
Well, I don't think it matters there, you know, Mike.
Mike has said it very well in the in the
press when he's had an opportunity. It's it's pretty cool though,
you know. I remember Lou Panella and I talking and
in those days, and it was I happy and it's fun.
You know, you root for your team, you root for
your city and so but as far as it affecting
(02:51):
the football, I don't think.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
So you got it.
Speaker 6 (02:53):
Well, the Marriagers are going through Dan Wilson's going through
something that you had to go through in two thousand
and five when you had the one seed. You had
to decide, Okay, how much do I play my starters?
The rest versus rust thing? And I believe in that
last game of Green Bay you played hassle Beck and
Alexander for one half I think if I remember correctly,
So how do you deal with the rest versus rust?
Speaker 5 (03:14):
Well, I think when you get into that situation, you
know you have that week and you're in pretty good shape,
then yeah, you give him a rest, you know, if
I if my memory serves me right, I think Sean,
I think he had some records he was going after,
so I played him a little bit more just for him.
(03:34):
But no, you you'd be smart with it, you know.
I mean, you know you've already won the game, You've
already won what you're gonna win in the playoffs and
things like that, so you know, be smart and just
make sure your team's healthy going in.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
Yeah, that was a green Bay game, right, exact game, Yeah, Matt, Matt,
Matt started, Sean had twenty carries for seventy three yards
and then you pulled everybody in the second half.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
So Dick is right. But let's talk about this Tampa
Bay game, man.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
I mean, there's a lot of injuries for the Buccaneers,
there's no question about that. The Seahawks are obviously getting
some guys back, But this this feels like a pretty
huge freaking game to get to four and one on Sunday,
and more importantly for me, Mike start to establish something
at home where they have got to find a way
to start winning games in front of the home crowd.
(04:21):
So how how imperative is that from Mike McDonald you
think starting this weekend to prove he can win in
front of his own crowd.
Speaker 5 (04:29):
I think I think it means a lot. You know,
we've we've talked about it before. It's hard to me
for me to believe that they went through that that
series of games where they weren't really really taking the
homekill advantage, and you know, it's such an advantage, it's
so hard to play for another team in here in
(04:49):
the stadium, and yet they weren't doing it. So to
be able to kind of get it going again, I
think it just cranked. It will crank up the people
even more and that's what they need to have, and
they're gonna have a good season, Dave, I really think.
But they got to win at home.
Speaker 6 (05:06):
Baker Mayfield has been a different quarterback since he's been
at Tampa. He was a wild card in many senses,
says of the word in Cleveland. Why do you think
it's worked so well in Tampa?
Speaker 5 (05:17):
You know, that's a good question, Dick. The he is
and you're right, he is really when I watch him
play for Tampa, he's right on. He's throwing the ball
very very well. He's a good leader. You know. It's
it's working for him now. Why it didn't work before?
I think it's always if you look at the combination
between coaches, front office and player, and then how old
(05:41):
the player is, what they're asking that player to do
as a rookie or maybe a second year player, then
you kind of see why it might have failed. Because
right now, right now, he's throwing the ball lights out.
He's really good.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
Mike.
Speaker 4 (05:57):
I want to go back to the Sea game with
Tampa to second, but just kind of going back to
Dick's question about Baker Mayfield. Man the league is littered
with guys that are getting second chances, right like guys
that we thought that were done. I mean Daniel Jones,
Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield justin field starting for the Jets.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
There's a ton of guys.
Speaker 4 (06:16):
Gino Smith obviously had a renaissance here in Seattle. Why
do you think that is that all of a sudden
a bunch of guys that were backups at struggling other
places and playing for multiple teams are now in some
ways flourishing with new homes.
Speaker 5 (06:30):
Well, a couple of things I think. I think one contractually,
when a rookie comes in, First of all, that quarterback
gets picked by a team that was really lousy. That's
why he gets picked so high. Okay, so he goes
to a tough situation. Then all of a sudden, the
money is so big now, and I know as salary
Cappan has balanced out and all that stuff. But you
(06:54):
sign that second contract, you've got to make sure and
your owner. A lot of the owners the league said, hey,
he's not doing it for us. Where he's gone, We're
gonna get somebody else. And I think that's what's happening
in the league.
Speaker 6 (07:06):
Coach I've been fascinated with the improvement of the Seahawks
D coming at the same time as the Baltimore D
falling apart. The Seahawks have allowed half as many points
as the Ravens had. Now, they have had a lot
of injuries. I do understand that, But how much is
it the injuries versus how much of his just Mike
McDonald bringing what he did at Baltimore here and they
(07:28):
just don't have it anymore there.
Speaker 5 (07:30):
I think it's a combination. I think Mike, you lose.
He got the job and on his resume, you know,
he's one of the top defensive coaches in the league
and that's why he's the head coach now of the Seahawks.
And so that's a big part of it now. But
injury injury, and you guys know this plays such a
big part on how your season goes. And Baltimore. Baltimore
(07:51):
is good. I mean, they have a good team, but
right now they're good guys. A lot of the good
guys aren't playing well.
Speaker 4 (08:00):
Here was on this morning, I think it was, and
he mentioned Vida Veya, who's a former Husky defensive tackle
who plays now for Tampa Bay and he's a monster.
He's had an amazing NFL career. Seahawks have a guy
in Jalen Sundale who's athletic but may not be as
powerful as you're looking for from a center, and a
right guard, and Anthony Bradford who's been getting beat up
(08:22):
every single.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
Day this on this radio station.
Speaker 4 (08:25):
So if you're Mike McDonald, and if you're a Clint Kobiak,
how concerned are you about Vida Veya as a defensive
lineman just wrecking your day offensively? And if you ever
faced a defensive lineman that was personally responsible for blowing
your offense up on a Sunday.
Speaker 5 (08:42):
Yeah, I mean that's what they're looking at really hard
this week because you have to have an answer, a
partial answer, that young man is gonna be. He's a
good player and he's gonna make his plays, but you
have to have some sort of an answer and maybe
some help, you know, in dealing with him, because he's
a load. Now, he's a load.
Speaker 6 (09:03):
How do you go about attacking a defense whose strength
is what you normally want to do? Because Tampa is
much better run d than they are past D and
you want to run the ball first. So how do
you go about attacking a defense like that?
Speaker 5 (09:19):
Well, don't be stubborn and don't be silly. You know
if you you you don't. You don't want to. You
don't want to. You don't want to play to their strengths.
You want to do the what what's what's the smart
thing to do? They the Seahawks can pass the ball.
They can pass the ball, you know. And I know
they want to run. I know I like to run.
I love to run. But I kind of like, do
(09:43):
what you do? You do what you want, what you
have to do to win the football game. And then
and then uh be smart with it.
Speaker 4 (09:50):
Well, let me ask you this, and I and I
hate to put you on the spot. Mike, all right,
Mike Congrin's with us.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
On the radio.
Speaker 5 (09:56):
Of course you do, of course you do.
Speaker 3 (09:57):
I hate it, but I'm gonna do it. Anyway.
Speaker 4 (09:59):
There was a bit debate on this radio station about
Geno Smith and do we keep him do we.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
Let him walk?
Speaker 4 (10:05):
And then they went and got Donald and a lot
of the Geno whites out there. That's an actual religion,
by the way, began on the East coast and the
hills of Pennsylvania. A lot of the Geno Whites out there.
They said, this is the worst move ever. I can't
believe they're doing this. Now I'm watching Geno Smith and
he's not playing very well. His numbers are actually terrible
compared to Sam Donald's. Right now, have we gotten to
(10:26):
a point where we can all agree? A month then
the Seahawks made the right call ditching Geno and acquiring Sam.
Speaker 5 (10:33):
Yeah, I think we can. And I was one that said,
don't do it. It really surprised me and they but
they did it, and Sam Donalds has proven them right.
You know, it's taking nothing away from Geno. I think
Geno's in a tough sitch. We were talking about what
team do you go to? You know, he's in a
tough situation there with the with the Raiders, I think.
(10:54):
And but but the fact they got Donald and Donald
is really good and so it's working.
Speaker 7 (11:01):
Does the Genoit Church even exist anymore?
Speaker 3 (11:03):
Small township?
Speaker 6 (11:05):
Okay, I haven't seen any of the disciples recently.
Speaker 7 (11:08):
I haven't heard from any of them coaches.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
But they can build the crap out of stuff.
Speaker 6 (11:15):
I'll tell you that you mentioned the banged up Ravens.
Let's go to the banged up team. That's going to
play tonight. Your former team, the San Francisco forty nine ers.
What is going on there? I find it harder and
harder to believe that it's just simply bad luck.
Speaker 7 (11:30):
Every year that their starts get hurt.
Speaker 6 (11:32):
I mean, this is five six years in a row
where they just use lose massive pieces to their puzzle.
Speaker 5 (11:38):
Yeah, I mean, it's it's It reminds me of my
last year really in Seattle. It's hard. You know, the guys.
I don't know, Dick to answer your question. You know,
I know that they have a good coaching staff, they
do things correctly, they're they're prepared and all that, but
they have been hurt and they've been hurt more than
(11:58):
a lot of people. So why maybe how they practice,
how they prepare in the preseason, I don't know. But
that's something that tonight is going to be because the Rams,
I mean, this is a big game, this is a
big division game, and the San Francisco they don't have
their guys.
Speaker 4 (12:18):
Hey, Mike, did you see what Shador Sanders did the
other day? They're starting Dylan Gabriel with the Browns. I
don't know if you caught this or not. A pair
of this goes back to something Rex Ryan I guess
said on TV about him. But Shador was asked about
Dylan Gabriel being picked to start a quarterback, and every
answer that Shador Sanders gave he just he mimed it right,
(12:38):
like he didn't say anything. And a lot of people
are like, you know, this guy's just a clown, like
this is why he fell? What the fifth round or
whatever it was? So did you see that? And if not,
do you have any response to him behaving like that?
Speaker 5 (12:51):
You know, I did not see it. I read about it.
You know that. You know, you get young men coming
into the league and some are great athletes, but not
very mature in how they do other things. And I
think he's one, Like I think his life and how
he's done it with his dad and so on, you know,
getting you know, Dion's larger than life. And the kid
(13:13):
now he came in and was great in college and
he now he's assumed some things and that's not the
way it is in the NFL. And I would there
if you think, if you really think he has a
chance to be one of your guys down the road,
you call him in you have some serious talks with
him about that.
Speaker 7 (13:31):
Wow, coach, I saw where this is the twenty third.
Speaker 6 (13:35):
This week's the twenty third anniversary of Shawn Alexander's five
touchdowns and a half.
Speaker 7 (13:39):
Ooh game against the Vikings.
Speaker 6 (13:41):
What I didn't realize about that game is that with
two fifty four left in the first half, you guys
only had seventeen points and he had two touchdowns. He
had three touchdowns in a minute and one second in
the last three minutes of that half.
Speaker 7 (13:54):
What do you remember about that game?
Speaker 5 (13:56):
Well, and I'll tell you I love to run the ball.
I loved run the ball, and so that's what it says.
That's not funny, you know, you know I love to yes,
so yeah, so no, But you know what, he's a
great player. And at halftime, you know, were there, you go.
We made some good adjustments and we saw that what
(14:17):
we could do. And you know, as much as I
like to pass the ball, and I talk about it
a lot, you know, you have to do what's gonna
get you. It's gonna move it, what's gonna move the football.
And that's how we did it. And we had a
great back to do it.
Speaker 4 (14:32):
Mike before you go, and I could just hear you
just grinding your teeth during that Shador Sanders question, getting
angry or angry or and angry or I am so
glad that you do not have to coach Shador Sanders
and that you're not in Cleveland. Yes, but I wonder though,
before you go, have you ever had assistant coach on
head coach crime after a game that you had to
(14:52):
deal with? Did you hear about what happened between Liam
Cohene and Robert Salah after the Niners Jaguar game on Sunday?
So Robert, okay, Well, Liam Cohen went up to Robert
Sala and said, keep my name out of your mouth,
Keep my name out of your e fing mouth, to
which Salah replied, I will f your world up, says
(15:12):
Robert saw which he would have. Dude, Liam Cohen would
be killed by Robert Salf, no doubt. But I mean look,
Robert apologized, said it was the wrong choice of words.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
Blah blah blah.
Speaker 4 (15:25):
Did you ever in your coaching career have to deal
with an assistant coach getting into a spat with either
another assistant coach or the opposing head coach.
Speaker 5 (15:34):
No, No, I never, I never did. The only uh,
the one time that I got a little fired up
was when we played Green Bay Mike McCarthy's first year
and it was a preseason game, preseason game, and it
was over and he kept passing the ball. I'm going,
what are you doing? Well, he had lost the opening
(15:55):
preseason game in his career there, and he felt the
need to do that, and so I will chat with him,
you know, after the game. So but that was that
was never an assistant coach.
Speaker 4 (16:05):
No, yeah, yeah, well the first time for everything. Who knows,
Maybe you come back and you coach one day and
you can cross them up your bucket today. Listen, I
hope you're feeling good, man, Rest up and we will
talk next week, all right, Mat coach.
Speaker 5 (16:17):
Yeah, I hope you're feeling too good. Dave.
Speaker 4 (16:19):

of our playoff coverage, what do you say we head
down to T Mobile Park right now? Because Luke Rayley
is standing by joining us on the phone. Luke, first
of all, thanks for doing this, man, and then second
of all, dude, we're fired up. I know you're fired up.
Tell us about the buzz dude inside that clubhouse right now.
Speaker 8 (17:50):
Yeah, it's been a lot of fun. You know, see
the fans, how how engaged they are just to come
watching their squad. But yeah, it's been it's been really exciting.
And you know, we've gone out there and played hard,
and that's kind of what we've been preaching is to
stay ready. We got to play play like it's a
real game. So we're going out there and really competing
and it's been a lot of fun.
Speaker 4 (18:10):
Yeah, tell me about just taking this time off. Obviously,
the scrimmages are meant to keep you guys focused and
keep you guys in rhythm. But tell me about what
else you're doing kind of behind the scenes. You know,
I saw a bunch of guys were at the hockey
game last night, a climate pledge against the oilers for
the Kraken. Talk about kind of what you guys are
doing behind the scenes to make sure you don't lose
the edge.
Speaker 8 (18:31):
Yeah, I mean we're we're, you know, doing everything we
need to do to get our bodies ready to to
make this playoff run. And outside of that, we're just
trying to do things as a team and you know,
boost that team chemistry and keep keep things going like that.
Speaker 4 (18:47):
Yeah, Well, talk about talk about what this clubhouse is
like right now.
Speaker 3 (18:50):
I mean there's a belief obviously.
Speaker 4 (18:52):
From this fan base that I know kind of you know,
permeates inside that clubhouse as well. You know, Logan Gilbert
was on with us a few weeks ago or a
week ago talking about, Hey, we think we can win
the whole fricking thing. What's the what's the confidence level
like in that clubhouse right now? What's the camaraderie like
in that clubhouse right now?
Speaker 8 (19:09):
Yeah, it's exactly that, you know, the expectations to go
out and go go in the whole thing. So we're
just doing everything that we need to do to prepare
us to to go make that run and go win
the whole thing.
Speaker 6 (19:24):
Luke, how much does home field matter and we would
hear about it all the time in the football playoffs
and the NBA playoffs, not as much in Major League Baseball,
but you guys have a heck of a record at
Tea Mobile Park.
Speaker 7 (19:33):
So how much does it matter to you guys?
Speaker 8 (19:36):
Yeah, no, it's I think that you know, there's different
things that home field advantage play up in basketball and football,
but you know, being at home is is important. We
play half our games here where you know, there's not
a team more familiar with the batters I hear or
you know, playing in the conditions here in Seattle. So yeah,
(19:58):
and then obviously you've got you've got all the and
behind you and cheering you on and stuff like that,
so it's definitely definitely an advantage.
Speaker 4 (20:06):
Well, Mariner, Luke Raley is with us, and this being
your second year in Seattle, you were obviously not here
a few years ago when the ball club made the playoffs,
but I'm sure you've heard it enough to understand that.
You know, Look, this is only the only team in
baseball that's never played in a World Series. It's really
the one thing that we haven't done here in this
town as a sports city. Tell me about that, about
(20:26):
how much of an accomplishment and how much of an
almost responsibility you guys feel in some ways to get
us off that list and get this team to the
World Series for the first time ever.
Speaker 8 (20:38):
Yeah, obviously that is definitely our goal and something that
we're striving to, but that's not necessarily the focus. The
focus is making sure that we're ready to go come
Saturday and ready to make this run.
Speaker 3 (20:53):
Yeah, well, how is this team ready for this?
Speaker 4 (20:56):
I mean, talk about that, like if somebody asked you, Hey,
why is this team built for the Because a five
game series, a five game sample, Luke of one hundred.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
And sixty two game season.
Speaker 4 (21:05):
I mean, you know as well as I anything can happen,
you know, Wonkey stuff happens in baseball. It's not always
the best team with the best record that wins the
World Series. So why is this team prepared? Why are
they built for this five game series?
Speaker 3 (21:18):
And beyond?
Speaker 8 (21:19):
Yeah, I mean I think I think that with our
starting pitching and our bullpen, they're you know, I don't
think that there's really anyone better in baseball that they're
going to run out the guys that we're going to
run out there and keep us in games and obviously
then turn over to the offense and we've got you know,
dude that hit sixty Hummers, another dude that hit forty nine.
(21:41):
We just have the ability to get on baits driving
runs that that's the combination you need. And then on
top of that we play really good defense.
Speaker 3 (21:49):
Luke.
Speaker 6 (21:49):
Obviously some big trade deadline deals pulled off by Jerry
and justin just talk about what that did for your
clubhouse bringing in guys like Aohannio and Josh Naylor.
Speaker 8 (22:00):
Yeah, I think you know everybody obviously Fancier new new
geno since he'd been here before and knew what he
brought to the team. But you know, none of us
really knew Naylor coming into it, and he's been even
more than we could have asked for. Obviously his production
on the field, but as a leader in the clubhouse,
(22:22):
and you know, he's not afraid to speak his mind
and kind of share his experience through the playoffs and
in those kind of things. So he's been nice to
have around and pick his brain and kind of just
what he shared. And you know he also brings a
good positive energy and those kind of things.
Speaker 4 (22:42):
Well, this is your second playoff appearance. You did it
your first year in baseball with the Dodgers. Man, give
us a thought on just kind of what it feels like.
I mean, it's been three years for Mariner fans, but
obviously a long time since they've been to the Alcs,
going back to two thousand and one. What was that
experience like for you in twenty one one with the Dodgers,
And how does this thing feel different? You think on
(23:03):
game day on Saturday versus the regular season.
Speaker 8 (23:07):
Yeah, I mean it's it's not. It's the same game.
The only difference is, yeah, you know, you know what's
at safe here, right, So you gotta win win three
games before, you know, in this first series before the
other team wins three games. So knowing that in mind,
we go out there and just play our game of
baseball and we'll be just fine.
Speaker 4 (23:26):
Luke Rayley, listen, man, great stuff, get it done, Go
enjoy the scrimmage, man, have some fun, try to soak it.
Speaker 3 (23:33):
All up, and we'll see you Saturday at the park.
Speaker 5 (23:35):
Man.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
Appreciate this, buddy, thanks man.
Speaker 8 (23:37):
Absolutely sounds good.
Speaker 4 (23:39):
Yeah, you got it, man, Luke Raley with us on
the radio show. And obviously the Tigers have won they
will see the Tigers starting on Saturday. We know the
game time on Sunday night at five oh eight. If
Boston wins against the Yankees tonight, the game is at
one o eight. If the Yankees win today, the game
is at five thirty eight on Saturday. Either way, we're
(23:59):
gonna be at Tom's Watch Bar on Saturday for the
Huskies Maryland game.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
And like you said, if.
Speaker 4 (24:04):
You play at one o'clock, you'll watch both with us
at Tom's Watch Bar across the street from Climate Pledgerina.
If not, you'll stay and watch the Mariners and we'll
take off and go watch them play.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
At Timole Park.
Speaker 4 (24:14):
After the Huskies and Maryland play at twelve thirty, we're
gonna break. Taylor will swing by with her patented pick
of the Week for a five twenty Bar and Grove
gift card. We'll hear a little bit from Brian Wu
as well. Next on ninety three to three KJRFM.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
This is Duke of Duke Seafood and this hour is
brought to you by Duke Seafood. Why don't you make
it at Duke's Night tonight. Reserve your table today at
dukeseafood dot com now back to Softy and Dick on
Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM.
Speaker 4 (24:45):
We're gonna find out if our friend Taylor shows poorly
or it shows wisely. With the last time she was
on the air with us for their Thursday night Pick
of the Week. We'll get her on the air and
just day matter of minutes. But before that for a
shot at a fifty dollars gift card of the five.
Speaker 3 (24:58):
Twenty bar and grill. What do you say? We hear
from Brian Wu.
Speaker 4 (25:01):
Right, Dan Wilson was on with us about an hour
ago and said, we don't know yet. We're gonna see
how he responds to his bullpen session make a decision
from there. Ryan Wu talking about the bullpen session he
threw today.
Speaker 9 (25:13):
Positive day.
Speaker 5 (25:14):
I mean.
Speaker 9 (25:16):
It's still not you know, where I want to be
in terms of game speed of everything, but in terms
of how everything's progress, you know, happy with it. Considering
a week ago I wasn't even thrown yet, and then
a week from now, hopefully you know, we'll be in
a better spot. So still just taking a day by day,
but you know, in terms of looking at that way,
(25:37):
it's a.
Speaker 8 (25:37):
Positive to get back on the mount.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
How good did it feel to get back on It
was good?
Speaker 9 (25:43):
Yeah, you know, obviously frustrating obviously with injuries, you never
can you never know, you know, obviously, it's it's part
of it. But you just do your best to try
to control what you can control and training room and
doing what you can to get back on the field.
(26:03):
But yeah, just baby step show.
Speaker 4 (26:05):
If you could put a percentage number to how you
feel like sex, what would you quit on?
Speaker 9 (26:10):
I don't know about a number, but I just know
I'm getting getting closer.
Speaker 5 (26:13):
You know.
Speaker 9 (26:14):
That was a big step. Like I said, it's still
not quite a game speed with everything, but in terms
of how everything has progressed.
Speaker 6 (26:26):
What were you hoping to imports today and you feel
like you were able to?
Speaker 9 (26:30):
Yeah, I think it's just like a obviously get through
the whole day, you know, but keep increasing with the
with the velocity, been throwing off spies and stuff and everything.
You know, that stuff all feels good. I think it
was more just the volume of the increasing be low.
So obviously you don't want to you never want to
(26:51):
take huge, huge jumps. You gotta be smart with it.
So yeah, hopefully you just kind of keep progressing like
we have been and you know, happy with what's out
the day.
Speaker 1 (27:01):
Why a matter of where the peck is right now
or if you're building back down.
Speaker 9 (27:05):
To correct I think it's just building up correctly. You
want to be smart about it. You know, it doesn't
do any good to just recklessly come out and throw
as hard as I can and and you know, just
just to do it just to see a number it's
going to be, you know, done the right way. So
just to kind of put my trust in the coaching
staff for any staff and listen to what they say.
And you know they were they were happy with today,
(27:28):
So I'm happy.
Speaker 4 (27:30):
Well, there you go, Brian wu with his thoughts on
today's bullpen session, and we'll try and dig it up
if we can. But we asked Dan Wilson today what
their plans are is you're going to pitch in the
first three games of the series against the Tigers.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
You said, we don't know.
Speaker 4 (27:44):
Here's what Dan Wilson said just about an hour ago
when we asked him that very question.
Speaker 10 (27:48):
You know, through a bullpen today and and we'll take
a look at how we kind of responds tomorrow and
and make our final decisions as we get a little
bit closer, So I'm still a little bit of an unknown,
but uh, you know, I thought it was a good
session today and and uh, you know, obviously wanting to
weigh several factors, they're not trying to push them too quickly.
So we'll we'll just kind of put it all together
(28:09):
and see what we come up with tomorrow, in the
next day or so, and we'll have a final decision.
Speaker 6 (28:14):
Just wondering if it's just better off to go with
Castile kirbyan Logan and just just give him extra time.
Because it's not like you're talking Yah Wu's had an
unbelievable season, but you're not talking about a huge difference
between this Caru and the West and the rest of
the guys, especially at not No.
Speaker 4 (28:30):
I mean, I think as far as the rest at
this point, it's not really a big deal either. I mean,
I was looking at some of the numbers, you know,
six days of rest or more, which is I know,
a big There's a big difference between six days and
two and a half weeks, right, I understand that. But
this is the guy that has not pitched in eighteen days.
Excuse me, it's not pitched since the nineteenth of September,
(28:51):
So we're talking two and a half weeks off from
that last start to Game three of the Aods on Tuesday,
six days of rest or more, Logan Gilbert twenty starts
two and a half era, George Kirby eighteen starts three
point eighty r Luis Castillo forty three starts three point eight.
Bryce Miller thirteen starts three point four to six. Brian
(29:11):
Wu fourteen starts six days off or more five point
one eer for Brian Wu.
Speaker 3 (29:18):
I'm kind of with you.
Speaker 4 (29:19):
I'm wondering if it's crazy as it sounds, if they're
better off just going with those three right now?
Speaker 7 (29:24):
Yeah, no, I think so.
Speaker 6 (29:26):
And give him an extra week, right, give him an
extra opportunity, and who knows, why wouldn't you be able
to try him out of the bullpen if you wanted
to in that first series.
Speaker 3 (29:35):
Let's do this before we get out of here.
Speaker 4 (29:37):
We're gonna find out if Taylor chose poorly or chose
wisely with her last Thursday Night Football prediction, your chance
to win a fifty dollars five twenty bar and grow
gift card. Haven't done this in a couple of weeks
because we had some time off, by the way, but
we're back with Taylor from the five twenty.
Speaker 3 (29:51):
How are you? Have you studied tonight's Thursday night football
game between the Rams and Niners?
Speaker 5 (29:56):

Speaker 3 (29:57):
Okay? So the Rams are giving what eight and a half?
Is that right? All right?
Speaker 4 (30:00):
You gotta text in if Taylor chose poorly or chose
wisely with your name and your email address as well,
and depending on what she does, will draw one person
for a fifty dollars five twenty gift card based on
tonight's Rams Niners game.
Speaker 3 (30:15):
Rams are given eight and a half. They gotta win
by nine or more. Who do you like and why.
Speaker 11 (30:18):
We're gonna go with the Rams?
Speaker 3 (30:19):
Why?
Speaker 11 (30:20):
Well, I was told that all the key players for
the forty nine and who.
Speaker 3 (30:24):
Told you that?
Speaker 4 (30:25):
Friend?
Speaker 3 (30:25):
Okay? And who's out tonight for the Niners? By the way,
any idea the quarterback? That's right? That's right?
Speaker 4 (30:34):
Black party kind of sucks anyway, So we like we
like the Rams to cover and win this game by
nine or more?
Speaker 3 (30:40):
Okay? Is that right? Jackson? We got time to replay
last week, sir or two weeks ago? Is audio or no?
Speaker 8 (30:46):
Right?
Speaker 6 (30:46):
Hit?
Speaker 4 (30:46):
Let's find out what you whether the picked two weeks
to go ahead, who do you like against the spread?
The Bills to cover or the Dolphins to cover?
Speaker 11 (30:53):
That We're gonna go with the Bills.
Speaker 3 (30:54):
Why why are we going?
Speaker 11 (30:55):
Because because everyone always says the Dolphins just aren't that good.
Speaker 4 (30:59):
Okay, she chose chose one, and Troy Barnum wins a
fifty dollars gift card because he said you chose poorly
and he was right. All right, So she likes the
Rams and the points tonight given the eight and a half,
texting chose poorly or chose wisely? Plus your first and
last name in your email to four nine four five one,
got like twenty seconds. What's happening here at the five
(31:21):
twenty Bar and Grill?
Speaker 11 (31:22):

we also are rolling out two new menu items, a
mushroom ravioli and a steak sandwich. Ohs are going to
be a really good fall option.
Speaker 3 (31:31):
Yeah, really good for our bellies next Thursday. All right, Taylor,
good luck, Thank you appreciated.
Speaker 4 (31:37):
Taylor likes the Rams given the eight and a half tonight,
Who do you like tonight?
Speaker 7 (31:41):
By the way, quickly like the Rams, but I don't
like the points.
Speaker 3 (31:43):
Okay, got you all right, We'll get out of here
and get a break.
Speaker 4 (31:45):
