Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's time for our weekly conversation with college football analysts
Petros papadikasnock.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
That I'm a smart guy, I'm stupid.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
Brought to you by Sweet James Accident Attorneys.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
Forty one yards.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
If you're hurting an accident, called Sweet James right away
at eight hundred and five hundred and fifty two hundred.
Sweet James will be sweet to you, but tough on
insurance companies that will bully you.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Don't know Maru.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Now with Petros, here's Dave Softy Muller.

Speaker 4 (00:35):
All right, buzz and girls, here we go on a
free Thanksgiving Wednesday afternoon right here on ninety three to
three KJRFM. And is our honor, as the kids like
to say, hashtag bless baby. What a pleasure, What an honor,
what an opportunity on this Wednesday, before we give thanks,
to bring in one of our friends, one of the
most sought after guests in sports talk radio, a star

(00:57):
in Southern California. Former you see superstar on the gridiron,
and that was Superstar and media, one half of the
Petros and Money Show in Southern California. My friend Petrose
Papadocus brought to you.

Speaker 5 (01:10):
Bye Sweet James, the dense beard of justice.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Sweet James knows how to come through for you.

Speaker 5 (01:17):
You know, if you've ever been in a car accident,
in a motorcycle accident, or if a dog has.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
Bitten you, maybe on the balls.

Speaker 5 (01:23):
Sweet James knows exactly what to do to hold that
insurance company accountable. Give him a call at eight hundred
nine million. That's eight hundred and nine zero zero zero
zero zero zero, or sweet James dot com.

Speaker 4 (01:36):
Hello softy, how are you? What's plan for tomorrow? What
does a big fat Greek Thanksgiving look like tomorrow?

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Ask me this.

Speaker 5 (01:43):
Every year we go to my uncle Tom's house and
my aunt Ellen, and they put on a traditional American Thanksgiving,
and there's a few Greek dishes here and there.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
There would probably be some pickled.

Speaker 5 (01:57):
Octopus as a as an appetizer, and probably a span
a coffee time, which is the spinach and feta cheese
with the filo dough for dinner as one of the
side dishes. But other than that, pretty maybe a lamb,
but they'll also be a turkey. So traditional Thanksgiving to
say to say the least.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
Well, I love that, I'm glad that you're spending up
with family and friends. I'm trying to get myself ready
for tomorrow, and I'm failing miserably. I told myself I
was going to fast every day this week so I
can stuff my gut on Thursday, and all I end
up doing is just eating everything in the kitchen that
we are supposed to be eating tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
I'm getting fatter by the second.

Speaker 5 (02:35):
Here, pal, Well take it easy, softy. You know, I
know it's been a rough year, but with the Mariners
and all that. But God bless you, and I'm very
thankful for you and your audience and nice people at
KJR that put me on and put up with me.
So I sure appreciate that. Well, we appreciate you being here.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
I tell you what I would appreciate is a freaking
win over the Ducks on Saturday. Tell me the dogs
got a shot. They're getting six and a half. Vegas
thinks they're an underdog, but I don't know. I thought
they'd be maybe nine or ten point dogs on Saturday.
In this Oregon football team. To me, big boy, they
look a little beatable. I don't know, what do you think,
Oregon U dub Saturday?

Speaker 5 (03:15):
They look pretty good to me, But they're different on
the road, but I think they're a good team. I
can't believe how good Dante More is after CNM is
a true freshman at UCLA and challenged he was. He's
really come along. I love the two running backs. They
obviously have a special tight end, and they did a

(03:36):
great job against USC.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
Hold on, yeah right there sounds like somebody's knocking on
your door or something back there.

Speaker 5 (03:44):
No, they did a great job against USC stopping to run.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
The hell was that? Nothing?

Speaker 5 (03:51):
My internet's down and I was trying to see what
would work and okay, I had a rough call with Maryland.
The internet is very slow. Todd Locksley kept like blurring
out like Max.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
Mike, Mike Locksley? Sorry, who the hell's Todd Locksley? I
don't know.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
I'm sorry. I'm sorry, man, that was a low blow.
You're in a mood. I can tell I am in
a mood. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 5 (04:17):
Well when when I'm strung when you're on the zoom
and the internet doesn't work and then there's a gout
of chainsaw outside hacking away at the trees in your
neighbor's yard, but all the crap is falling in your yard. Wow, Yeah,
it's you want to go address that.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
I can't address it. I'm doing radio here for the
rest of the.

Speaker 5 (04:36):
Day, okay, and because I'm doing well, because I'm doing
this right now, and then it's the worst traffic day
of the year, so I can't drive up to work
and take four hours.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
Yeah. Yeah, is he still hacking away outside? Yeah? I
can kind of hear it, to be honest. Yes they're hacky. Yes, yeah,
Well tell them to shut the hell up. I can't.

Speaker 5 (04:57):
They're not in my yard, and I don't know if
they're messing with the cables or what.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
Well.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
Tech rage is a real thing, man, I'm with you.
You know, when nothing works, it's very frustrating.

Speaker 5 (05:08):
Yes, it is very well. You know, you sit down,
you get ready for your conference call. Everybody expects you
to be the guy that runs a call, and all
of a sudden it doesn't work. And then you put
it up on your phone with the video component and
there's like a crazy echo and everybody hates you, and
that is how my day has gone.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
Well, can you just try, like just get off the
internet and just go with like a typical five G
setup and be done with it.

Speaker 5 (05:32):
I don't know what you're talking about, I want you
to leave me alone. Okay, Well, let's talk about the kids,
saying Morgan stopped the run very well against USC, and
then they attacked it. They kicked USC's ass, right, And yes,
USC has two very good receivers who are very difficult
to cover throughout a whole game, but they did a
great job on Mackay Lemon and Jacoby Lane. USC really

(05:56):
kind of showed their undisciplined ass on Saturday against Oregon,
and Oregon did what you would expect them to do,
which is pretty much control the game. So I would
expect them to do the same against you guys. But
it's a rivalry game. Yeah, it's in Husky Stadium, so
I would say that dogs have more than a puncher's

(06:18):
chance in this one. I mean, overall, are you happy
with the way that Washington's played this season?

Speaker 2 (06:24):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (06:24):
I mean really, it just comes down to the Wisconsin game, dude. Honestly,
like you're sitting there at eight and three and you
should be nine and two. You should have won the
Wisconsin game. And who knows, if Demand doesn't fumble on
third and twelve, they don't get the easy touchdown from
the seven yard line. They probably are nine and two
and they're in the CFP conversation, not saying they make
the CFP, but they're at least in the discussion.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
So if there's any disappointment, I guess the thing comes
down to that one game. But that is the thing though.

Speaker 5 (06:50):
I mean, if you're Washington or your USC, the you
need to be in the College Football Playoff at this
point the way the playoff is structured for people to
feel good about where you're going unless you have a
true freshman quarterback and the whole team is young and
they were terrible the year before and they finally shown
some promise. You know, those circumstances, but you need to

(07:12):
be in the college football conversation for the playoff late
in November, and.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
You could say that USC was.

Speaker 5 (07:22):
You can kind of say that Washington was without that
game at Wisconsin. But the problem is the games where
they played up against college football playoff caliber teams, Notre
Dame for USC, Oregon for USC on the road in
Illinois when Illinois was playing at a high level, those

(07:43):
teams controlled the line of scrimmage and kind of controlled
the game even though Illinois had to drive to kick
a field goal.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
To win.

Speaker 5 (07:51):
They still were in control of that game for a
big part of it. And well, you say the same
about Washington, right with Ohio State and the game against Michigan,
who's not even I mean, they're in the playoff conversation,
but Michigan's got a freshman quarterback, So yeah, you're sort
of in the conversation. But at the same time, when

(08:12):
you're on the field with somebody who really is in
the conversation, there is a very big and noticeable difference. Yeah,
between the two teams, and I think that's frustrating for
the fan base down here at USC and probably frustrating
for you guys up there.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
Well, but there's I think, and you tell me if
I'm crazy about this, I think there's a little context
that you dub fans can at least fall back on,
and that as our team got blown to hell last
year when Cavin de Boor took off for Alabama, right, Like,
I mean, what do we expect that jet Fish was
honestly gonna have these guys in the playoff in year
two after taking over for a roster that got blown

(08:48):
to smithereens.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
I mean, Lincoln Riley is I think that.

Speaker 5 (08:52):
Argument doesn't hold any water anymore because of Indiana. Oh look,
I understand who else is doing that besides Indiana, But though,
I mean that guy went to Indiana in an unwinnable
situation for the last one hundred years and brings a
bunch of guys from the Sun Belt and dominates the

(09:13):
Big Ten. And now, I mean, whatever Lincoln Riley says,
Luke Fickle, anybody when they're not competing, you say, well,
what about this? What do you what do you what
do you have going on that this guy doesn't have
going on so he could have that success?

Speaker 2 (09:31):
It is.

Speaker 5 (09:31):
It is an amazing thing. I agree. I mean, the
Indiana thing is the burp in the universe. But nowadays
you got to make a decision about your coach, and
you really hope that your coach makes a decision about
you so he can start retaining the football team somewhere
early in November or late October, whether you're having success

(09:52):
or not. And that's why you look at Maryland and
they say, yeah, we're keeping this guy, or you look
at h Luke Fickle situation, Yeah we're keeping this guy.
They need to do that because if you don't, you're
months behind in recruiting and the portal and getting your
staff together. I mean, these guys have an unimaginably tough

(10:16):
job with the college football calendar, and they made it
easier by knocking down one of the portals and changing
the signing day.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
But it's still very difficult for these guys. Who was this.

Speaker 4 (10:27):
Did you guys talk about the USC reporter that went
after Lincoln Riley?

Speaker 5 (10:30):
Oh yeah, I mean, don't apologize, right, Like, what are
we doing now?

Speaker 2 (10:34):
He's writing?

Speaker 5 (10:35):
So he's written like three open letters. I don't know
what he did for people. Lincoln Riley about a sign
at the game day that said something like retain Lincoln
Riley because he sucks, you know something? And the kid
asked about that, and how do you feel that your
opponents aren't afraid of you? Or so it was kind

(10:56):
of a ham fisted question. I believe that's how Pat
Forty wrote it. But at the same time, it's a
question that Lincoln Riley can answer. All you have to
say is no, I didn't watch game day. That's not
what we're concerned about. We got our own problems here.
And instead he took the opportunity to attack the young
guy and told him he was unprofessional, and yeah, that's
probably true.

Speaker 4 (11:17):
But what basically the guy said, how do you feel
about fans that don't want you to quit because they
think that you suck and they want to beat you everywhere?

Speaker 2 (11:23):
Right?

Speaker 5 (11:24):
And you know, there's a lot of different ways to
answer that question, and there's a lot of opportunities to
answer that question and look better than Lincoln Riley came
off looking. If that makes sense. We can all understand
his frustration the team lost and all that, but yeah,
it's and now the guy's all apologizing and stuff's like,
no one ever knew you before you asked the question.

(11:46):
Stick to your story and call the guy thin skinned,
but he probably got threatened by their sports information director
who put out a ridiculous game release. Did you see
that usc sid something about like duck hunting and we
have this many Heisman's Oregon has won, we have this

(12:08):
many titles, Orgon has zero, We've played in this many
Rose bulls.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
Orgon has played in eight. You know, but isn't that
part of the release every week?

Speaker 1 (12:16):
Like that?

Speaker 2 (12:17):
It was a real f you to Oregon. I mean
it read like a real It read like a real
few to Oregon.

Speaker 6 (12:24):
You.

Speaker 5 (12:25):
Yeah, but they used it as as bulletin board material
and obviously controlled the game, so I don't know. And
then USC had an assistant a D some guy named
Gavin Morris, an assistant a D like while the organ
band was on the field, go out near the O
and do like a TikTok dance and mock the fans,
and they're come on, swear to god, that's just douchey. Yeah,

(12:49):
it wasn't a good look for us the whole all
of Saturday, you know. And then to have that special
teams thing they did with Sam Hewart against Northwestern that
got people Twitter paid it, and then USC really leaned
into that and they kind of trolled everybody with Twitter stuff,
and my god, they put Sam Hewart in the kicker's shoes,

(13:11):
let alone his jersey, and had him throw a fake
punt against Northwestern, which everybody came out afterwards the Dean
Blandinos and Mike Perreiras of the world and said was
in fact illegal. Then all of a sudden, they go
up to Oregon in the biggest game of the year.
They run into the a fair catch, they leap over

(13:32):
the snapper, which creates a first down and a touchdown,
when they missed a field goal, they gave up a
punt return with a line drive punt at the at
the fifty. I mean they really laid an egg on
special teams. Some would say that was some karma involved there.
I don't really know, but yeah, USC really showed their

(13:53):
ass on Satday.

Speaker 4 (13:55):
Well, I mean, this has got to be driving bananas.
He thinks she's going to clean house. I year, you know,
ask you is this the year? Is this the year
they buy him out? And just say the hell that.
Wilner says No, he thinks he's gonna stay, and I
don't think they're gonna afford to buy him out. And
I think he likes being in Pallas Verdi's and not
reaching out to people. And that's just what it's gonna be.

(14:16):
I think this is USC football. And you could say
the team had made some vast improvements. But you can
also say, if your concern was that Lincoln Riley is
a guy who is only interested in calling fancy football
plays and not developing the whole football season, you can
make a pretty damn good argument that that is the case. Still,

(14:36):
So yeah, that's that's the situation. Well, the situation Saturday.
If Jed wins against Oregon Petros, his stock's going to
go up. And I got an email from our friends
over at Bovada who provide us.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
Danny Canal every now and then.

Speaker 4 (14:50):
You know Danny, and they've got Jed fish as the
heavy one to one favorite to be the next coach
at Florida. You know, I know that there's been some
some thought about the guy from Missouri going down there.
But if Jed wins this game on Saturday, he might
be It might be enough. Maybe it's enough for someone
like Florida to say come on down to Gainesville at

(15:12):
you know, nine and three, and what you've done at
you dub is impressive. So the conversation we had with
Greg and Mario and Dick was a part of it.
In Jackson, would you rather have the win Saturday against
the Ducks and Jed takes off or is it more
important for Jed to stay and keep the band together
for year three?

Speaker 5 (15:28):
I think that you'd probably take the former right blow
up Organ's chances for the playoff, or they'll still go
to the playoff, won't they. It's not a lock, not
a lock, no, But either way you're beating Oregon.

Speaker 2 (15:42):
That's the key, right, you take the win over Oregon
and you're not that connected to Fish? Am I wrong?

Speaker 6 (15:52):
No?

Speaker 2 (15:53):
No, I don't think so.

Speaker 4 (15:55):
I mean I don't think he's long for the gig anyway.
I mean I think he's honestly, man, I think he's
doing he has never done anywhere long in his life.
I think he's doing a good job while he's here.
Those are two different things right now.

Speaker 5 (16:06):
You can't deny that he has done a fine job
since he's been there. Yeah, and he has to think
he's here what he deserved a head coaching job. He's
proved that when he got the one at Arizona and
turned them around, and he's done a pretty good job
at Washington. But I don't know what the future holds
as far as getting back to the college football playoff
title game.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
Yeah, how about your buddy Jim Mora, you see that.

Speaker 5 (16:29):
Yeah, that's an interesting one. But I know that Colorado
State's got a lot more money to spend now and
it's more of a desirable job. Maybe that they're going
to the Pac twelve. Maybe he's just tired of Connecticut.
You know, they're not affiliated with a conference, so that
has to be pretty hard, the scheduling part of it
and getting that all figured out. And you can't argue

(16:51):
with the results more as won nine games twice at
a place that people thought was impossible to win. So
give him all the credit in the world.

Speaker 4 (16:59):
Well, there were some folks up here that wanted if
Jed walked out of here to go get Jim Mora.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
I mean, we went down this road twice.

Speaker 5 (17:08):
He might end up regretting it, like Jonathan Smith, right
taking the job at Michigan State before Washington came open
to where he could just hop over there. That place
he's much more comfortable and clearly and uh, that might
be a that might be something that Jim Mora regrets
going to Fort Collins too early there.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
Right, Well, what would you hire Mora at you dope? Sure?

Speaker 1 (17:32):
Why not?

Speaker 2 (17:33):
If fish walked? Yeah, I like Moa, I like Leamora
a lot. Okay, it's a hard.

Speaker 5 (17:40):
Place to coach, and he's had the most success there
that anybody's had this century.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
Right, God, they looked awful against the Huskies, by the way.

Speaker 5 (17:48):
Yeah they're not good. They had like there two or
three weeks with Jerry Newheisel. Yeah, but they're not good.
They don't have a they don't have enough of a
supporting cast to support Nico, who's pretty good.

Speaker 4 (18:00):
He wasn't good last week. He was terrible last week.
I mean maybe he was still dealing with the effects
of the concussion.

Speaker 2 (18:06):
He may have well, he went back out with a concussion.

Speaker 4 (18:08):
He may have gotten another one. Yes, that's what they
said in that in that game on Saturday. How about
how about Petros your guy Justin Wilcox man whacked by
cal Uh and now there's uh, there's reports and rumors
that he's going.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
To the head of the line to be the guy
with the beeves. How about that? Well, he's from Junction City,
isn't he. No, he played for the Ducks.

Speaker 5 (18:28):
Yeah, I mean he's right there, so that would be
a homecoming for him. And I know that he got
offered the Ducks job but didn't didn't want to hire
the staff that they wanted him to hire, so then
they ended up hiring Dan Lanning. So a lot of
people like Justin Wilcox, and I think he navigated the
cal situation about as well as anybody could. Cal is
not an easy place, and the quarterback he developed is

(18:50):
gonna win the Heisman at Indiana this year. So I
give will Cox a lot of credit for things that
he's done over the years. And I think he's it's
just as good as a name as any that Oregon
State could hire to lead the program if he wants it.
I mean, I know he's a duck, but he's also
from right there, off the ninety nine, So good luck

(19:10):
to him.

Speaker 2 (19:11):
All Right, you got the next couple of days off
down there. I have to work today. No, I have
to work today.

Speaker 5 (19:16):
I'll have tomorrow off and then I'm going to Detroit
to call the final game of the year, which will
be the Big Ten Championship between Maryland and Michigan State.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
But it's at Fordsfield.

Speaker 4 (19:30):
Big Ten Championship for the bottom. Yes, actually perdues the
worst team in the conference. So yeah, Maryland hasn't won
a game since you beat him.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
Yeah, both teams have struggled. Miny leadersha is our buddy.
I don't know. I'll find out.

Speaker 5 (19:46):
I will tell you. Maybe he gets the job at Connecticut,
I will tell you. Stop it, I will tell you.

Speaker 2 (19:56):
I will tell you. After I talked to.

Speaker 5 (19:59):
Him, a right, tell him, I said, hello, all right, Yeah,
I'll tell him Yeah, you're a real class act.

Speaker 4 (20:04):
Tell him. I said, all right, you're the man. Love
you have a great Thanksgiving, best to the family, and
uh we love having you on.

Speaker 2 (20:13):
We really do you. You are a ray of light
and a sea of doom for my life. Really every
third every every Wednesday.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
Because most people think I'm pretty negative guy, well imagine
being me.

Speaker 2 (20:25):
Copy that.

Speaker 4 (20:25):
Okay, Bud, see you all right, bet Betros Papa dockus
with us on the air. Rick Neuheisel, set to join us, said, five,
we're giving Heart of the Night off. He's a big
wig and he wants to spend time with his family,
so he gets it. Rick new Heil at five o'clock
coming up on ninety three three kJ R FM from
the R and R.

Speaker 1 (20:44):
Foundation Specialist Broadcast Studio. Now back to SOFTI and Dig
on your home for the Huskies, Kraken and the twelfth
Man Sports Radio ninety three point three kJ R.

Speaker 7 (20:56):
F two Wives, How we're looking formation here and Jason
gonna throw a quick toss fade route near side, ross
over the shoulder, catch right corner of.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
The end zone. Touchdown.

Speaker 7 (21:05):
Washington beautifully throwne fade in a lovely catch from.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
John Ross for the score.

Speaker 7 (21:12):
Washington has put another on the board here in this
opening quarter and wrongly halfway through the period. Takes the snap,
let's coming up the middle. They pick it up, throws
for the end zone. Ross open, makes the catch at
the back of the end zone.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
Touchdown. Washington. We had to wait to see if he
got one foot down.

Speaker 6 (21:29):
And he did.

Speaker 7 (21:31):
John Ross with another Husky store running out of the gun,
throws the fade again.

Speaker 2 (21:36):
Ross wide open, touchdown.

Speaker 7 (21:38):
Washington perfectly executed John Ross to the right corner of
the end zone, beating easily the cornerback Malik Levett. And
don't you love it? Washington in full command here third touchdown,
catch up the ninth for wide receiver John Ross.

Speaker 2 (21:56):
You know what that is right there, don't you? Well, yes,
I do.

Speaker 3 (21:59):
Nine years ago, nine years ago.

Speaker 4 (22:02):
Two thousand and sixteen seventy to twenty one, John Ross
had not one, not two, but three touchdowns in that game.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
He is the Husky legend, by the way, for the
game on Saturday.

Speaker 4 (22:12):
And I heard from a Duck buddy of mine who's saying,
you know what, in our lifetime, the Oregon Ducks are
in to surpassed the Huskies and have more wins in
this series than you Dub.

Speaker 3 (22:20):
Will really, So I looked it up, would that what
would have to.

Speaker 4 (22:24):
Happen, Well, they'd have to well in our lifetime, they'd
have to win starting today, fourteen more games than you
Dub has won in the rest of the way. It's
sixty three, forty nine and five right now. It was
before this little run that started in ninety four, right,
fifty four and twenty eight. So the Huskies used to
have a twenty six game lead and now they have

(22:45):
a fourteen game lead over the Oregon Ducks. So look,
I mean it's taken him thirty years to go from
twenty six to fourteen obviously, and I don't think that
we're going to see another twelve games streak in our
lifetime by anybody in this series in my opinion.

Speaker 2 (23:05):
So I don't think it's gonna happen.

Speaker 4 (23:07):
But I think if you're an Oregon fan, if you're
a young Oregon fan, like let's say you're Jackson's age
and you're thirty years old, maybe that's something you can
start to think about. So I would like to either
be gone by the time that happens, Jackson and Dick
or just be have it not happened overall.

Speaker 3 (23:23):
I kind of don't think that might happen in my lifetime.

Speaker 2 (23:26):
That's so much confidence I have in you, dub there.

Speaker 3 (23:28):
They got a fourteen game lead right now, the Huskies do.

Speaker 2 (23:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
I mean it's it's really just been the Oregon run
from five to twenty fifteen where they didn't lose a game.

Speaker 4 (23:37):
Right, I mean that's all four oh four right, yea, yeah, yeah,
I mean twelve games in a row, correct, from from
that moment that you just played there up until now.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
Washington leads five to four right right in the series.

Speaker 8 (23:49):
So it like it has over the last So if
you're you talked about, if you're JACKSON'STGS, if you're in
college right now, you only know this as a fifty
to fifty rivalry.

Speaker 9 (24:00):
You don't know this as a Washington dominated thing like
our generation does. You don't know it as an Oregon
domination dominated rivalry like Jackson's generation. You just know it
as a fifty to fifty proposition with these teams from
ninety four to three. So that would be the nine year,
the ten years, the nine years sorry, before Oregon went

(24:23):
on their crazy run. Oregon had a.

Speaker 4 (24:26):
Five to four lead over that nine year period, and
since the streak ended in twenty sixteen, Washington's got a
five to four lead, So again, you're right, it's about
four to twenty fifteen eleven. It would take another twelve
year run. It would take another crazy run like that
by the Oregon Ducks to be able to catch the

(24:46):
Huskies in our lifetime, which I would bet it's not
going to happen. Canzano says that Dan Lanning's not going
anywhere until his kids graduate high school unless he goes
to the NFL. And I said, well, how old are
the kids? And he said they got six years left
to go. And he quipped back and said, you might
go oh and six against Dan Lanning in those six years,
to which I said, how much you want to bet
that doesn't happen.

Speaker 3 (25:07):
Why would he think that a guy that has gone
one in three against Washington is going to magically go
six and oh the rest of the way.

Speaker 4 (25:13):
Maybe he thinks because Caylen DeVore is gone. I don't know, man,
and he's also sweating a lot more than he used to.
Maybe he's got the magic potion down there. I have
no idea, but Jonah Coleman is going to play his
last game on Saturday at you dub his last game
unless he plays in the Bowl game, which we'll see
if he does or not. By the way, but I
had a great conversation with Jonah before the game on
Saturday and started off by talking about his thoughts on

(25:37):
what it will mean to him to play his final
game in Husky Stadium on Saturday.

Speaker 6 (25:41):
It really makes me think about the whole process that
it and work that it took to you know, get
to this last game. And I can think that my
first game that I've you know, ever played in college,
and uh, just the person in the mindset and you know,
how everything is, you know, working out is something that
you know, me and my coach talked about since since

(26:04):
the first day that I met him, and he gave
me that call, you know, and offered me a scholarship.
And it's just crazy to see how everything is playing
out and and how everything did play out, you know.
So you know, I'm blessed to be in the position
that I'm in and I'm excited for it and I'm gonna,
you know, embrace that moment to the fullest.

Speaker 4 (26:25):
Yeah, when when Jed left Arizona for Washington. Was there
any real doubt for you that you were coming here
with him? And now that you've made that move the
last two years, how do you look back on that?

Speaker 6 (26:38):
On that move, there was no doubt that I was coming,
And like I was saying, it is probably the best
decision that I made in my life, was you know,
coming over here to be a Husky? Why is that
as far as it's on a whole different level, as
far as I would say, college is one of the
top academic colleges in the country, and you know, I

(27:00):
wouldn't you want to be a part of that, And
just I didn't know that this university as a whole
was was like this, you know before I got here,
as far as the winning history, the the way the
fans are and just this this whole school and everything
in general. It's really a professional culture and something that

(27:20):
you will want to will want to be a part of,
as I guess a high school player coming out of
high school. So it's just been great. Everything that has
happened to me here has just been you know, completely
mind blowing and uh. And it was just a part
of the process and the plan that got in store
for me.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
No, I love that.

Speaker 4 (27:40):
And you've been not shy at all about your role
in helping to develop some of these younger kids on
the roster. You talked on Tuesday about how proud you
were of Mohammed with his first one hundred yard game.
You're watching what Jordan Washington's doing right now. How much
do you really embrace that kind of the og in
some ways in that locker room?

Speaker 2 (27:59):
Uh?

Speaker 6 (28:00):
I feel like I had older guys like Michael Wiley,
DJ Williams, you know, Nasbenbada and those guys in my
running back room when I was a freshman, and how
impactful that they were as far as on you know,
my career and pretty much everything that I've grown into.
So I got to shout out them boys because you
know they did the you know, same thing for me,
I would say. And I just think back when I

(28:22):
had my first hun new yard gaming against USC in
twenty twenty three, how exciting Mike was, Michael Wyley was
for me and all the other guys in the running
back room, and how excited that they were for me.
But they just made sure I was prepared for my moment,
and obviously being with coach Graham He's gonna always make
sure that you prepare for your moment no matter you know,
know what's going on or the circumstances. So I would

(28:44):
say it was my job to do that and something
that you know, I was basically set out to do.
So just being able to see those guys out the
success that they they're having is you know, really good.

Speaker 4 (28:55):
So yeah, well maybe it's just me Jonah before you
go getting caught up at the moment of this game
on Saturday, but there's some kind of look in your
eye right now for for this game Saturday, to face
these guys, top five team in the country.

Speaker 2 (29:09):
Chance for you dub to win four or.

Speaker 4 (29:11):
Five against the Ducks, close out your career in this
conference at this stadium with a win against the biggest
rival of this team's got. What would that mean to
you Saturday to get that done?

Speaker 6 (29:23):
I mean a lot, man, But uh, we gotta we
gotta win in a beginning of the week. As far
as gotta win practice today, I gotta want to practice tomorrow.
I gotta want to practice you know, Friday, and just
be at our best Saturday. You know, if we had
our if we at our best, and you know we
do what we're supposed to do. Then the scoreboard and
everything will take care of yourself.

Speaker 2 (29:41):
So yeah, well the.

Speaker 4 (29:43):
Fans see one hundred percent Joanah Coleman with that knee
on Saturday.

Speaker 6 (29:48):
Well may never know. I guess we'll have to see Saturday.

Speaker 4 (29:51):
Go get it, man, appreciate this and congrats on everything
you've accomplished so far.

Speaker 6 (29:54):
Man, thank you, I appreciate it.

Speaker 4 (29:56):
Get out there and watch the show. Watch number one.
We'll see how much she can bring to the table
on Saturday. Dick, I'm looking at one, two, three, four, five, six,
seven consecutive Big Ten games this season, eight, nine, ten.
He's played ten consecutive Big Ten games without one hundred
yard day, which is really surprising, right. I mean, obviously

(30:18):
there's been some injuries, there's been reasons for it. It's
not all about injury. But I don't know if anybody
over the offseason ever thought we'd go ten straight Big
Ten games and not have a hundred yard day from
Jonah Coleman. We'll get more thoughts on this textimonials Rick
new heisl at five coming up on ninety three three
