Speaker 1 (00:00):
There we go ahead.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
I got this football football as part of our relentless
coverage of the NFL. It's a Football Friday sponsored by
Tino's Handmade Vodka, proud sponsor of the Seahawks, distilled in
bundeled by Fifth Generation. Ain't bustin Texas forty percent alcohol minmull.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
You save a responsibly.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
This crown is going football.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Frindaie is on with Safti and Dick on Sports Radio
ninety three point three kJ R FM.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
All right, here we go, boys and girls.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
We are alive from Madison, Wisconsin at the Scannie Bar.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Baby, we have turned this place purple and gold.

Speaker 4 (00:40):
You dub versus you w I've noticed that, guys, in
just the few hours that we've been here in Madison.
There ain't no U d up here at Madison. It's
you dob so you doub versus U dub. Tomorrow for
the right to you w act four excuse me three
thirty pm Central Time, one thirty Seattle Time. Pregame show

(01:01):
starts at nine thirty. I love doing shows like this
because it just goes to show you how passionate Husky
fans are. Man going on the road and doing shows
like this and I'm telling you, man, if not for us,
this place to be kind of empty right now. I mean, look,
it's only it's only five o'clock here at Madison. There's
a basketball game I think across the street, or a
volleyball game or something going on. But this place has

(01:22):
been turned into a Husky bar. It is ninety percent
purple and gold. Part of that, I think, guys, is
because Badger fans are kind of beaten down right now.
Like imagine, imagine if we were hosting a game against
Wisconsin or Michigan or Penn State or whoever two thousand
and seven. I was gonna say two thousand and seven,

(01:43):
but yeah, two thousand and eight. What a Husky fans
may know. They've even been in the mood to show
their faces in public for crying out loud. So everywhere
I go you talk to people about this Badger football team, Dude,
they just keep shaking their head.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Man, they just cannot believe how far that team has fallen.

Speaker 5 (01:58):
Well, and also it's just a boring football they I mean,
it's one thing to be bad, it's another thing.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
To be bad and boring. And they are bad.

Speaker 5 (02:06):
Yeah, They're like, like we had some there's some bits
of bad college football teams, but they lose every game
like forty eight to forty one. I mean, this team
loses every game seventeen to seven, Like it's just brutal.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
They just don't score points.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
So they've got one touchdown in the last thirty drives,
which is unbelievable. Man to me that they just have
been that horrible and they're getting basically by halftime to
getting their ass kicked by everybody. So look, I mean,
you don't want to, you know, get a little two cocky,
but it's the game the Husky should win tomorrow. They
should win all three of these games before the Oregon
game and make that Duck game meaningful. So listen, here's

(02:40):
what we got going on Factor Fiction three thirty five.
Lee Stirling will join us at three forty five Danny
Kanell courtesy at bet online dot com. He will join
us at four pm, talk some college football. Human one's
gonna hop on as well, talk some Hawks, talk some dogs.
At five, we're gonna hear from Jetfish, We're gonna hear
from Matt Lape, the longtime voice of Wisconsin as your Football,

(03:01):
and we're also gonna hear from Rick Newhizel. You had
a chance to talk to him yesterday while I was
flying out here to Madison. We'll get Rick's thoughts on
this game and a lot more. But look, I mean,
I don't even know where to start. I mean, this
is one of those games tomorrow for you, dub where
you got a chance to win your fourth game of
the Big Ten. Wisconsin goes zho to six, and it's
a game where I think Washington's gonna show up tomorrow,

(03:23):
Dick and have the superior athletes right and not even
be closed. I mean, look, Wisconsin may have a little
more beef at times, they may have a little bit
more physicality at times, but there's no way that Wisconsin
tomorrow or really any other team I think the rest
of the way until the Ducks can match you up
for their speed and their versatility and their quickness and

(03:45):
their athleticism.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
And that's gonna matter tomorrow.

Speaker 5 (03:47):
I'm gonna be really fascinating to see how aggressive a
play caller Jedfish is because obviously the more aggressive you get,
the more potential to turn it over and make and
make big mistakes and hand with wisconson the ball on
your forty yard line on your thirty five yard line
where they have an opportunity, because I almost think like

(04:08):
tomorrow might be the best time to just kind of
close up shop, don't make any mistakes, use the punt
to your advantage, because Wisconsin ain't driving eighty.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Yards for a touchdown on this defense.

Speaker 5 (04:20):
I mean, if they're gonna get touchdowns on the Huskies,
they're gonna get touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
Between thirty and fifty yards short field type.

Speaker 5 (04:27):
So don't give them any of those opportunities and go
home with a twenty to seven victory.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
You don't have to put up forty tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
Yeah, I just I mean, and I get that the
youterity to score forty points that I agree with that
if fan have to score forty points in this game tomorrow,
then that's.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
A problem, right.

Speaker 4 (04:41):
The defense allows that many points where the Husky offense
needs to explode like that. I just don't want to
give them any chance to think they have a shot
to win, you know, and if you're in one possession
in the fourth quarter, they're gonna think they have a
shot to win. All takes as a guy snapping a
punt over somebody's head, or a block field goal or
a bat snap or a bat pitch or whatever you
know in the backfield, Wisconsin gets an easy score, easy

(05:05):
you know, start to a possession. Like you said, it's
only a thirty five yard drive instead of a seventy
yard drive. I mean, Dick, I'm going back and looking
at what they've done the last three games, and to
put this in context, it has been against Oregon, Ohio State,
and Iowa. There are three of the top five defenses
in college football. They've had thirty drives. Only two of
them have gone fifty yards or more. Two of them okay,

(05:27):
and one of them was a turnover run downs and
the other one was a touchdown against Oregon when they
were down twenty one nothing. So you're exactly right. They've
got a really hard time moving the football. But you
know what, knowing Jetfish and the way he likes to operate,
I can't imagine Jetfish wanting to shut anything down in
a game like this because I think Jedfish wants style points.

(05:48):
I think Jetfish wants his team to move up the rankings.
I think Jetfish wants Heisman hype for Demon Williams, And
I think Jetfish wants the entire country to know that
his offenses can score points, so I would be a
little bit surprised if he did tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
What you're talking about, well, that's it.

Speaker 5 (06:03):
I mean, it's intro is going back and looking at
what Ohio State did to him and the Wisconsin This
Wisconsin defense held the Ohio State rushing offense down.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
It was Julian saying that went off.

Speaker 5 (06:14):
He had almost four hundred yards and four touchdowns in
that game, but Michigan was able to go the other way.
Michigan was able to get one hundred and seventeen yards
and two touchdowns on the ground from Justice Haynes. So
Wisconsin is the two best teams they've faced this year.
One attack them through the air, one attack them on
the ground, and the other team kind of struggled with

(06:34):
the other part of the game. So it'll be really
interesting to see what works better for Washington. Does Jonah
Coleman work better for Washington, or does Demand and Denzel
work better for Washington.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
Well, I just want to see these guys run the ball,
because honestly, I think and I don't want to get
too far ahead, but if you want to do what
you want to do in late November against those guys,
when they come to Seattle, you're gonna have to run
the ball, I think against them, and they have not.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
The Huskies have not proven they can run the ball
consistently this year.

Speaker 4 (07:03):
I think they're a good running team, but Dick I
honestly thought that they would be in a league running team.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
I did too, and I still think a lot of
it has to do with Willison Mills.

Speaker 5 (07:13):
I'm not all of it, certainly, but I think a
lot of it has to do because if you look
at Jonah Coleman's yards per carry average, it really does
just plummet when those two guys went down. So it'll
be interesting to see because tomorrow will be a good test.
If Jonah can get to his five yards of carry,
get to his triple digit yards in the game, then
that gives me even more thought that Okay, maybe it

(07:36):
was Willis and Mills being down, because this is a
pretty decent run defense they're gonna face tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (07:41):
Yeah, they're facing the forty fourth best defense in the country.
I mean they're not elite, right, but they're not terrible.
I mean they're terrible offensively, they stink offense. They're one
hundred and thirty third in the country or, averaging just
over four and a half yards of play. They've scored
twelve touchdowns the entire fricking year. Jonah Coleman's got fifteen
by himself. Miserable offensively, defensively, they're okay. So I don't

(08:05):
think this is a terrible test for U dub tomorrow
to show what.

Speaker 6 (08:09):
They can do.

Speaker 4 (08:10):
If they can move the ball against Wisconsin's defense and
have some ability to put up you know, twenty four
to twenty seven, maybe even thirty points, I'm gonna be
impressed by that. I mean, look, I mean this is
a football team that, last time I checked, hasn't had
a lot of success winning football games.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
On the road, and they got another chance tomorrow to
do it. I'm just curious.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
As we sit here in again at the Scantie Bar
in Madison, Wisconsin, across the street from Camp Randle Stadium,
I look on the wall and I see the jersey
of former Wisconsin legend Russell Wilson, by the way here
at the bar, Seahawk jersey number three, next to a
Packer legend Aaron Rodgers number twelve. So they love themselves
from Russell Wilson out here for sure? After what he
did with the Badgers. But what game, honestly, are we

(08:51):
more fired up for? Because this is a U dub
game against Wisconsin that if this was a non conference
game four or five years ago in September and Wisconsin
was good, you'd be like, Man, this is a pretty
unique situation.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
You dubb never plays these guys.

Speaker 4 (09:04):
It's the first time they've played since ninety two, first
trip out here since nineteen sixty eight. This is the
first time in our lives that they've played here. They've
never played here in our lives. I mean, it's just
amazing how when frequently this game happens, right like you
do Michigan. Obviously Rose Bowl a lot, but these guys
don't play each other. Now it's gonna be a regular
occurrence because they're both in the Big Ten. So typically

(09:26):
a Washington Wisconsin game was looked at as.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
A pretty huge freaking deal.

Speaker 4 (09:32):
Yeah, but I don't know if it is compared to
what's gonna happen on Sunday at Lumenfield.

Speaker 3 (09:36):
Man, I think you're right.

Speaker 5 (09:37):
I think Washington is still a weight and see team
with Husky fans, and I think the Seahawks are more
of a we are here team with Seahawks fans like
Seahawks fans know. Okay, maybe they don't all think Seahawks
are a super Bowl contender, but I think every Seahawks
fan realizes the Seahawks are a playoff team. So when

(09:58):
you have a playoff NFL team in this city, you're
going to be probably more juiced up than a Husky team.
That is good, But I think a lot of a
lot of people, including myself, are wondering how good are
the Huskies?

Speaker 1 (10:10):
Right right?

Speaker 4 (10:11):
Well, I think I think you're right about the Hawks
that at this point it would be I don't want
to I don't know. I mean, I just say it'd
be devastating to not make the playoffs right after what
they've done the first eight games this year, and the
way their offense is clicking, and the trades that they
made and what they've done to improve the team. It'd
be a huge down or to miss the playoffs. But
I mean, you're sitting there and you're you're a game

(10:33):
out right now. I mean, you got to win the
West obviously to feel tremendous about it. But I think
that'd be an unbelievable step from Mike McDonald and I
think we're probably going to lose sight of that if
these guys do make the playoffs. To fire Pete Carroll,
get rid of Geno Smith, and then in your number
two you make the postseason with a second year head coach,

(10:54):
that's pretty significant for me, right. I mean, like we
talked about what jet Fish has done with the CFP ranking,
is that typically be in twenty third in America?

Speaker 1 (11:02):
Whatever.

Speaker 4 (11:03):
I mean, you're twenty third in America, so what But
if you look at the context of where they were
a year and a half ago, it's incredible. I mean,
making the playoffs is not supposed to be as big
a deal anymore in the NFL because half the damn
league makes the playoffs now, But if you look at
it in context to where they were when they fire
Pete Carroll, it's a massive deal. So I think not
making it would be a huge downer. So I am

(11:23):
ready with you to say that this team is going
to be a playoff team. Only question is how far
do they freaking go?

Speaker 1 (11:29):
Right?

Speaker 5 (11:29):
And when you look at the Seahawks schedule and they're
gonna go as far, I think the home field is
going to turn around. I think Seattle's going to be
an awesome home field advantage by the end of this
by the end of this year. Now they're gonna have
to because they face two really good teams at the
end of the year here Indianapolis and the Rams right
her last two home games. So this is one of
the five take care of business games that I think

(11:50):
the Hawks really have to win four of the five
if they really want to be seriously considered as a
the NFC West champs and be a potential one or
two seed. And those those games are Arizona, at Tennessee,
Minnesota at home, at Atlanta, and at Carolina.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
I think you got to win four of those five.

Speaker 5 (12:12):
That gets you to ten wins, which means if you
want to get to twelve, you gotta win two of three,
the two LA games, excuse me, two of three of four,
the Indianapolis game, the two LA games, and at San Francisco.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
Those are four really tough games on the slate.

Speaker 1 (12:27):
Yeah, you know, Carolina is five and four all of
a sudden.

Speaker 3 (12:30):
I don't think they're very good.

Speaker 1 (12:31):
I don't think you're.

Speaker 4 (12:33):
Going down there. You're flying across country. And I mean
the longer they keep winning, the more they're gonna get
your confidence. They probably should win this weekend against the Saints.
I mean, I don't know if they'll cover or not,
but they're at home against a team that basically quit
at the deadline right in New Orleans, so they should
win that game.

Speaker 5 (12:51):
But they're a team that their three game winning streak
was over Miami by three, Dallas by three, and the
Jets by seven.

Speaker 3 (12:59):
I mean, they are just barely taking care of the
crappiest teams.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
In the league. But they couldn't even do that last year.
That's right.

Speaker 4 (13:05):
No, they're better than they were last no question, right,
no Ques, I mean Denver. Have you looked at the
teams that Denver's beaten by the.

Speaker 5 (13:11):
Way, maybe the worst eight and two team i've seen.
Remember that Pittsburgh Steelers team that was like eleven and
o during COVID and we were like and everybody was like, dude,
they're terrible and they turned out to be terrible.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
They lost the last five games in a row that year.

Speaker 4 (13:23):
They've beaten the Jets, they've beaten the Raiders, they've beaten
the Saints, they've beaten Carolina, Atlanta, the Raiders again, and
the Browns.

Speaker 1 (13:30):
I mean, it's just it's it's the weakest.

Speaker 6 (13:33):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (13:34):
Actually, you know what. I'm sorry. You know what I
was doing. By the way, it's not the titos. I
swear to god. I was looking at the last year's
schedule because I had last year's up Dave.

Speaker 3 (13:44):
Losses.

Speaker 4 (13:45):
This year, look at their schedule, Jets. Hang on, this
is the Broncos, and they're beating the Jets. They've beaten
the Bronx, the Giants, they've beaten the Texans, they've beaten
the Raiders, they've beaten the Cowboys, They've beaten Cincinnati, and
they beaten Tennessee.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
They've beaten nobody.

Speaker 4 (13:58):
You're right, But I just think when you start winning
games like that, you start getting some confidence. Man, And
for a team that was really awful a year ago,
that's a big step for them. But look, we can
debate how big the Carolina game is gonna be and
how much we should worry about it. It just feels
like when Pete Carroll was here, they'd play Carolina, especially
down there, and the games.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
Were always a pain in the ass.

Speaker 4 (14:18):
They were always a slow I remember, I think it
was the year we won the title. Then they went
like thirteen to nine in the opener that year at Carolina. Yeah,
it was a much better Carolina team.

Speaker 1 (14:27):
I mean, I get it.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
They had the MVP and Cam Newton, I think that year.
But those games are always tough, So I just think this.
I think this is Sea football team that should be
in the NFC West Race until the very end. I
think they might even win it. I think they have
the best team roster wise in the NFC. The injuries
are always a factor for everybody, but I think, and

(14:48):
I don't know about you guys, I would take the
Hawks roster over the Niners and Rams right now.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
I really take it over the Niners. Rams is close.
I have to see more of the Rams. The Rams
haven't been on on Sunday night, Monday night, Thursday night.

Speaker 5 (15:02):
You know, they've been playing games usually at the same
time the Hawks have been playing games.

Speaker 3 (15:06):
So I actually haven't seen a ton of Rams football
this year.

Speaker 7 (15:09):
What a time it is to have a better offensive
line than the Rams too. I mean, I think it's
been like maybe fifteen years, I mean about thirteen years.
Since this's a bad better line, I think I would
take the Rams roster. I think they're overall pretty darn
good offensively, and they have multiple weapons who can take
at the distance on any play. You know, I realize

(15:31):
we have JSN, but like they have Puka, they have
Davante Adams, they have Kyrien Williams, and like that's a
lot of players who can just go eighty yards on
a well just to snap.

Speaker 4 (15:40):
But they just added and you just I mean, does
does the defense not count? I guess I well, sure, no,
it counts for sure. I mean, roster wise, I think
I think they have a better quarterback.

Speaker 1 (15:50):
I really do. I think Sam Garnald's playing better than
Matt Stafford.

Speaker 7 (15:52):
Yeah, I don't think by much, but I think they're
They're there for sure. I would also say the Rams
pass rush pretty I mean, I might take the Rams
past rush more than Seattle's.

Speaker 1 (16:01):
Pass rush we have. Have you seen our pass rush lately?
I get it lately.

Speaker 7 (16:06):
The latest rush believable going over the last year and
a half, and like the Rams pastors over the last
year and a half, Well.

Speaker 4 (16:12):
If you're going over a year and a half, then
let's go back to what Cooper Cup was doing for
them a year and a half ago.

Speaker 1 (16:16):
To Jackson, I'm just telling.

Speaker 3 (16:18):
You, well, Jared Versus better than anything.

Speaker 4 (16:19):
Hawks out is a wrecker, but they have way more depth.
The Hawks have more depth. They have something the Rams
don't have, and I'm telling you, man, it's going to
make a major difference. As Mike frickin McDonald, I mean,
how many times did h go on this show and
say Mike McDonald is the best defensive mind on the.

Speaker 3 (16:36):
Planet, including the coaches. In the roster question.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
Even before he was hired, he said.

Speaker 5 (16:41):
That, well, I think, I mean, I think the Rams
are gonna probably lose this weekend, but then they're going
to be a pissed off team coming to Seattle.

Speaker 3 (16:47):
There going going home next week against Seattle.

Speaker 1 (16:50):
All right, let's do this.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
We got a lot to get to man, it feels
like we have a lot going on, but not a
lot of time to get it done. Factor fiction coming up,
but fifteen minutes off courtesy of the Lucky Ego cause
you know what, hotel. We'll do les starting at three
forty five, Danny Canell at four o'clock, and a lot
more including Q at five on ninety three three KJRFM,
as we continue live from Wisconsin Madison right here on

(17:12):
ninety three three KJRFM, Now.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
Back to Football Fridays sponsored by Tito's handmade vodka on
your home for the NFL Sports Radio ninety three point
three kjnr FL.

Speaker 4 (17:26):
All right, we're back here in Madison, Wisconsin, across the
street from Camp Randall Stadium, getting ready forty Badgers and
the Huskies tomorrow nine thirty pre game show, one thirty
kickoff right here on ninety three to three KJRFM. You guys,
hear about the big news and baseball by the way,
as far as the next Japanese superstar.

Speaker 1 (17:43):
That happened today. Now, oh, come on, you guys.

Speaker 4 (17:48):
I know you're keeping an eye on the Japanese posting
system wire.

Speaker 3 (17:52):
Sorry I should be, but I'm not.

Speaker 4 (17:54):
Japanese star third baseman Munataka Murakami is entering the posting system.
He's twenty five years old, and he owns the single
season home run record for a Japanese player in Japanese
professional baseball. He had fifty six home runs four three
years ago to break sanahar O's record of fifty five,

(18:16):
and he's leaving Japan with two hundred and forty six
home runs after eight years. Here's the thing about him
that's very intriguing, and I just kind of told it
to you. Dick he's only twenty five. Most guys that
leave Japan are almost thirty years old. This guy's not.
And he plays third base. Do the Mariners have a
position of need at third base?

Speaker 5 (18:34):
He did?

Speaker 3 (18:35):
Yes, I think they do.

Speaker 5 (18:36):
You know, I thought that Yamamoto would be a guy
that the Mariners would have looked at last year, and
they got blown away by the Dodgers.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
I just think I think it's perfect. The Adroal thing
worked unbelievably well.

Speaker 5 (18:49):
I don't think the Mariners could have even imagined how
well the e dro thing worked when they signed him.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
So let's go do it again. Man, you're one for
one in grabbing these guys.

Speaker 4 (18:59):
Well, there's a forty five day window to sign, and
they'll start on five am on Saturday, ensuring he will
sign with a big league team before it expires at
five pm on December twenty second. He can also play
first base too, by the way, So if something wonky
happens with Josh Naylor, who knows, right, I think he's

(19:21):
gonna come back. But if something crazy happens with him,
he can also play first And you know the thing
with Josh Naylor that's interesting to me that I've noticed
and we'll do factor fiction brought to you by the
Lucky Eagle Casino in a few minutes.

Speaker 6 (19:33):
Here.

Speaker 4 (19:33):
Have you guys noticed how just completely public they are,
the Mariners with their desire to bring him back.

Speaker 1 (19:40):
There's no well we'll wait and see. There's not. Well,
we'll see what happens. There's no Hey, we're gonna try.

Speaker 6 (19:45):
No.

Speaker 1 (19:45):
They're like, no, he's our priority, He's number one priority.

Speaker 4 (19:48):
And if it almost makes it sound like they know
they've got a ninety nine percent shot of bringing him,
they're not talking about.

Speaker 5 (19:54):
That, either that or just a cya man. It's just like, hey,
you know we've said from the very beginning, man, and
if he doesn't want to comments.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
On him, not us.

Speaker 6 (20:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (20:04):
I mean, I guess I just don't think there's any
unless somebody completely comes in and just goes nuts and
offers him fifty million dollars, which is not gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (20:12):
I don't think.

Speaker 4 (20:12):
No, I don't know if any realistic contract offered that
the Mariners should not be able to match.

Speaker 5 (20:17):
Dick, you wouldn't think so. I mean, I can't imagine
it being more than twenty five twenty seven a year,
And we were talking about low twenties, So big deal.
You're talking about an extra three or four million dollars
a year to get to lock up your first base
spot for the next four years.

Speaker 4 (20:36):
Yes, And I think I think if there's any team,
and I think we've talked about this before, I think
if there's any team guys that should overpay for him slightly,
it's the Mariners because he fits here. If they know
he fits here, Yes, right, like you're gonna if you're
the Mets or Boston or who else, whatever. Hey, it
may work, it may not work, culture wise, whatever.

Speaker 1 (20:52):
You know that you need him.

Speaker 4 (20:54):
You know that you're a better team with him. You
saw what he did to your offense when he showed
up here, and you know that he can hit at
Tmobile Park. I think if you look at all the
Mariner qualified hitters, and I had these in my notes
from like a week ago, and I have no idea
where they are. If you look at the qualified hitters
for the Mariners this year, he had the second highest
OPS on the team at home.

Speaker 1 (21:16):
That's how good he was.

Speaker 4 (21:17):
Actually non qualified because you didn't even qualify because he's
here for two months. I'm just saying, overall, the guy's
proven he can hit at Tmobile Park.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
How in the world can you give that up?

Speaker 7 (21:26):
I agree with everything you're saying about Josh Naylor. I
hate to be the party pooper, but I will don't
do it. It's a nice Friday out, I know.

Speaker 1 (21:34):
It is, Jimmy Jackson. We're having a good time here.
We're all fired up.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
I hear you, I hear you.

Speaker 1 (21:39):
Chicken wings, Softy turns hes. Let me just give you
the other fifty girl cheese sandwiches, really really could.

Speaker 7 (21:49):
I'm just going to throw this out there that the
narrative from Jerry and the narrative from Justin if they
sign a third baseman is going to be if they
don't sign a third baseman is going to be. We
need to get Ben Williams in the reps because we
see his future here at third base, and I think
that that is a very real thing that they want
to bring him along and they want to bring this

(22:09):
specific player Williams through the system. I don't see a
world where he isn't the guy, which means I think,
because you can then go invest more in Josh Naylor,
because you're saying we don't have to put the money
into Suarez. We don't have to put him money into
this Japanese guy because we want to.

Speaker 3 (22:24):
Bring him along.

Speaker 7 (22:24):
We can pay Naylor whatever he wants. So it sounds
like you do think they're gonna bring him back. I do,
But I also think that this hopes for the Japanese
you know, wha third base. Yeah, it's just not gonna
happen because they want to bring Ben up. Yeah, I
think that that's probably a py dream.

Speaker 5 (22:37):
But the thing with with the Poto is, you know,
the Poto is pretty predictable, right, we we've seen the Poto.
We kind of know how he operates. Well, who's the
big before Josh Naylor. Who was the biggest guy He
got at the trade deadline in the last five years Castilla.

Speaker 3 (22:51):
Luis Castillo, and he fit like a glove and they
signed him, and so he's up there.

Speaker 5 (22:59):
He's up there, and I think, so I think you
probably have another Louis Castillo situation with Josh Naylor.

Speaker 4 (23:05):
Well, I just again, what I want is probably different
than what John Stanton and the ownership want or the
way that I think you should get there. I'll say
that is probably different than the way they think they
should get there. I just think if there's ever a
time in that guy's life. And I'm talking about John Stanton,
Who's how old Dick is. He's seventy five. If there's
ever a time to go forward, it's right now. I mean,

(23:27):
these guys have proven they deserve the help. The team
last July proved that they deserved the help, and Jerry
and Justin.

Speaker 1 (23:33):
Got it to him. And look what happened.

Speaker 4 (23:35):
They came within four or eight freaking outs of going
to the damn World Series.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
Man. So I just think this is sellout time for
these guys. And again, that.

Speaker 4 (23:44):
Doesn't have to mean I'm just telling you that doesn't
have to mean going out and spending a zillion dollars
on payroll.

Speaker 1 (23:50):
It just means get better. I don't care how you
do it.

Speaker 4 (23:53):
If that means trading prospects to get the players you're
looking for, fine, But nothing should stop them, nothing should
stop them from getting better and making the best run
they possibly can make at a World Series Championship in
twenty twenty six. If it takes prospects, great, If it
takes money, great Factor fiction brought to you by the

Speaker 5 (24:37):
David Paul apologies to John stan he's a spry seventy
spry seventy years old Johnson.

Speaker 1 (24:44):
All right, well you know what, John, you're seventy years old.
It's time to go for and when you're seventy four,
it's going to be even more of a beer.

Speaker 4 (24:52):
All Right, We're back in Wisconsin at the Scanie Bar
across from Camp Randall Stadium, getting ready for you dubbing
the Badgers tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (24:59):
So here's the deal.

Speaker 4 (25:01):
I am just gonna continue to just go with my
gut and I don't want to be talked out of
an out of anything. I don't want you to talk
me out of anything. I don't want Jackson to talk
me out of anything. And if it goes south, then
it doesn't work out, then I'll wear it. But all
day long, I've been thinking about Carolina at home given
five and a half against the New Orleans Saints.

Speaker 1 (25:18):
I know you don't like it.

Speaker 4 (25:19):
I know you like the Giants at the Bears and
they points they're getting. But guys, here's the deal, man,
I just think the New Orleans Saints are a horrible,
awful road team. Here's the spread of the four games
they've lost on the road thirty one twelve twelve fourteen.
They have not been within a touchdown of one road
game they've played the entire year. Their roster has been gutted.

(25:40):
They gave up offensively by trading by trading Rashid Shaheed
to the Seahawks. Am I a little nervous about tather Shuck,
not knowing what he brings to the table a little bit,
but we've seen him play before. I think he's okay,
but he might erupt and I'm gonna take that chance.
So I'm gonna go with my gut and take the
Panthers minus to five and a half at home against
the Saints this weekend. That Panthers are not great, but

(26:01):
they're a much better team than they were a year ago.
I've always hated New Orleans on the road on grass
from the super Dome and getting off the turf so
give me Carolina minus the points, all.

Speaker 3 (26:11):
Right, I mean they should win and cover.

Speaker 5 (26:15):
I I don't know who made the Saints' schedule, but
it was completely unfair. Do you realize the Saints have
played San Francisco, Seattle, Buffalo, New England, Chicago, Tampa Bay,
and Los Angeles. It has been murderers freaking a row
against that team. Carolina is one of the easier teams
they faced this year.

Speaker 1 (26:34):
Yeah, well, let's see what happens. I just again, I
really really like the opponent.

Speaker 4 (26:38):
When the Saints are playing on grass, and I think
they're gonna they're gonna get it this week. They're gonna
get it handed to them, and I think if they
get it early, they might roll over and die. To
be totally honest with you, So we're taking Carolina minus
the five and a half. I mean it's the twentieth
pick of the week. Yeah, we're taking table scraps. There's
not a lot going on, right, so we'll take Carolina
minus the five and a half. You like in fact

Speaker 1 (27:59):
It's our Lee Sterling. How are you pal?

Speaker 6 (28:03):
I'm good, good to everything good in Madison.

Speaker 1 (28:06):
Uh yeah, I'm surrounded by purple and gold. I mean,
what more do you want?

Speaker 6 (28:10):
Man?

Speaker 1 (28:11):
We got, we got beer.

Speaker 4 (28:12):
We got booze, we got food, we got the Dog
fans as it started snowing yet here in Madison.

Speaker 1 (28:17):
So we're all good.

Speaker 4 (28:18):
But twenty eight, twenty one and one overall, another winning
week three and two on the air, And I'll tell
you what would be great is if Iowa could somehow,
some way. Actually this has been a point of contention
because there's a lot of Dog fans that think that
maybe we should be rooting for Oregon to beat Iowa,
to make that game in late November a little more meaningful.
So Oregon is on the road at Iowa and they're

(28:41):
given six and a half against the Hawkeyes.

Speaker 1 (28:43):
What do you think?

Speaker 6 (28:45):
All right? So i was improved, they scored. They couldn't
I mean they couldn't score last year. I mean this
this year, last five out of seven games at least
twenty five points or more. Last week's game a little
deceptive because they scored forty one points on only two
hundred and seventy four total yards. It was fueled by
three turnovers. I like their second year offensive coordinator Tim Lester.

(29:09):
Big improvement there. I think the difference though, is and
Iowas defense is good. I think Oregon just has three
running backs that can go the distance on any play,
averaging between six point nine and nine point nine yards
per rush, and they got a couple receivers that can
take the top off the defense, and they might hit
on some big plays. And it still takes Iowa eight, ten, twelve,

(29:31):
fourteen plays to score a lot of times. Here weather's
not going to be great, but Ducks are used to that.
That's where they're from. Ducks twenty seven sixteen.

Speaker 5 (29:42):
Well, it doesn't sound like that. Doesn't sound like the
weather's going to be great. Where Saftia is either Wisconsin
and Camp Randle. Not much buzz going on in that
state for Badger football and they are giving or getting
ten and a half points from the dogs.

Speaker 6 (29:57):
Wow. I think that one of their core the backs,
Billy Edwards, he was practicing a couple of weeks ago.
I just don't think he wants to play. He was
from Maryland. I think that he's packed it in going
to try to get a six year. This quarterback Hunter
sim is horrendous. Two touchdowns, five interceptions. I mean they're
leading rusher three hundred yards rushing, their top two running

(30:22):
backs under.

Speaker 1 (30:22):
Four yards of carry.

Speaker 6 (30:24):
Receivers. I mean it's horrendous. I think also, I think
the Dogs are gonna hit on some big plays here.
I don't think the cornerbacks are anything special for the Badgers.
It's gonna be a long night for the Badgers, but
a happy, happy game here for the Huskies. Let's go
with the dogs here, big thirty five to ten?

Speaker 1 (30:45):
All right? Love it.

Speaker 4 (30:46):
Now you start thinking about, hey, you know what, we're
already here in Wisconsin. Maybe we'll hang around for the
Packers Eagles game on Monday night. That sounds fun. Actually, no,
that doesn't sound fun at all. I don't want to
get to Green Bay and get stuck out there and
have to sit here until Tuesday. So we're gonna let
the fans that live here take care of that one.
But green Bay at home at Lambeau giving a point

(31:06):
and a half on Monday night against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Speaker 6 (31:11):
So I think Packers are one of these teams. Every
year there's two three teams for like seven eight weeks,
they do the zigzag. They win one week, and then
the next week they lose against the spread. That seems
to be the Packers. So a couple of weeks ago
took care of Pittsburgh predominant last week horrible against Carolina.
I think the receivers are starting to get some separation now.

(31:32):
And also think that Metal four when he's on, really
one of the best play callers in Philly. A lot
of people they'll play on a team when they acquire
some players before the trade deadline. And I think they
did make their defense better, but I still think their
secondary isn't good enough here, and they lost five guys
to free agency. I think the Packers are the right side.

(31:53):
Twenty seven to twenty three.

Speaker 3 (31:55):
Big NFC whatts matchup? Forty nine?

Speaker 5 (31:58):
Ers were three and a half half point dogs. Now
they're four and a half point dogs at home against
the Rams. Is the line's moving up?

Speaker 3 (32:05):
Who do you like?

Speaker 6 (32:07):
Yeah? And I think the Rams are the right side.
That first game this year was crazy. I mean San
Francisco down so many players punched the Rams in the
face that big lead to start the game fourteen nothing
never look back here. They control the ball and the clock.
But I think this is gonna be different here. Keith
to San Francisco stocking stopping them slung down on first down,

(32:29):
get them get them into some third and six, third
and eight situations, And I think they realized that. So
also rams stellar record is road favorites twenty eight and
seven straight up, twenty two and thirteen against the spread
in road games. I like the Rams here thirty to
twenty one.

Speaker 4 (32:48):
All right, Well, the Hawks back home against Arizona taking
to the Cardinals.

Speaker 1 (32:53):
They're making the switch to the Jacoby Brissett.

Speaker 4 (32:56):
Kyler Murray is going on the IR with a foot injury,
and they're turning the ball over to JB. Hawks given
six and a half against the Cardinals a lumin.

Speaker 6 (33:04):
On Sunday me Jacobe Presett, it look great. I never
thought i'd say it. A couple of years ago. Looked
like he was finished in this league. But has a
really good feel for the game, and I think he's
the better quarterback for this team. I don't know if
they're gonna move on from Kyler Murray at the end
of the year, but if he keeps doing it, maybe
I think they're gonna be able to score some against

(33:25):
the Seattle defense. But I think this Seattle secondary can
be had. Just got to get on top here, and
I think I think the receivers also, I mean just
getting open left and right, and I don't think Arizona
can stop him here Seattle twenty eight to seventeen.

Speaker 1 (33:42):
All right, Lions Commanders, your game of the week.

Speaker 4 (33:45):
Jayde Daniels out Marcus Mario to d But as usual,
you got something up your sleeve, don't you.

Speaker 6 (33:51):
I always do be one of the first five callers
called eight hundred, four hundred nine to seven four one,
give you the game for free. Four one hundred and
nine seven four to one. Game is on me, Lions Commanders,
and got a couple of things brewing here. If you

(34:36):
rolling Paramount sports dot com.

Speaker 1 (34:38):
Dick am I not he just take every favorite on
the board.

Speaker 5 (34:41):
By the way, this week, first time, first time all year,
first time all year.

Speaker 4 (34:47):
Hey, favorites cover two sometimes favorite some people too.

Speaker 1 (34:53):
Lee, all right, great stuff, and we're talking a week man.

Speaker 6 (34:56):
Thanks pal, Okay, chill you guys.

Speaker 1 (34:58):
Thanks all right.

Speaker 4 (35:00):
Minus is six and a half in Iowa Husky's minus
the points here tomorrow at Wisconsin Packers, minus the point
and a half at home versus Philly Rams, minus the
four and a half at the Niners, and the Hawks
minus six and a half against Arizona.

Speaker 1 (35:11):
We got about a minute here by the way to
kind of goof around.

Speaker 4 (35:14):
He said something interesting there that he thinks the Seahawks
his secondary can be had.

Speaker 3 (35:18):
I think he meant Cardinals.

Speaker 5 (35:20):
He meant he said he meant Cardinals, because then he
talked about how the passing game is gonna rip the Cardinals.

Speaker 1 (35:25):
Right, Because that was a little confusing for me too.

Speaker 4 (35:27):
But then I thought to myself, did we at one
point start having a conversation about the secondary being a
little banged up and maybe they could have used some help,
like the Mariner bullpen could have used some help. And
I do wonder I think you're right that he misspoke there,
but I do wonder if we're gonna look back and
wonder should the Seahawks have maybe been a little more
aggressive Dick and trying to help out that secondary at

(35:49):
the deadline.

Speaker 5 (35:49):
I think they were more aggressive by not trading Tarek Willan.
That's how they helped out the secondary.

Speaker 1 (35:54):
He's the best they could have done, is ye too.

Speaker 5 (35:56):
I think I think the I think Tarek Willan is
and I'm not a big of Tarik Willand, but I
understand the talent and I think he's probably better than
anything you could have gotten out there without trading a
high draft pick.

Speaker 1 (36:08):
Cal Rowley has won a major award. We're gonna tell
you what a major award

Speaker 4 (36:11):
And then Danny Canal will join next on ninety three
to three KJRFM.
