Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hope everybody out there is okay. We are safe. Thank
you for asking at the five twenty Bar and Grill.
I'm trying to find a way to transition out of that,
by the way. So we are at the five twenty
Bar and Grill until five o'clock tonight. Mike colmgran is
going to be here at four pm. He lives right
on the edge of Lake Washington. Hope he's okay, by
the way, so he'll know it's coming out at four o'clock.
(00:22):
He might come in here looking like Rodney Dangerfield with
that two piece swimsuit on from back of the day
when he was diving for college. We'll talk to Mike
at four. Rick new heisl join us in about fourteen
minutes from now. Obviously we'll get a lot of thoughts
from him on what's going on with the Michigan situation.
We'll get his take on what the hell's happening as
well with the Cougar job and is he had any
(00:42):
contact with them, is he speaking with anybody? Is that
thing over? We saw Kirby Moore was on the way
to Pulman to maybe do an interview with them the
other day. So we'll talk to Rick about all that stuff,
but we got a big one on Sunday. Man, I
said to these guys yesterday that I would be willing
to just overlook the Colts and go right to the
RAM game on Thursday. And I got denied, I got
torn down, I got pushed aside by Jackson and Dick. No,
(01:04):
we can't do that. You're messing with the sports gods
if you do that. So I think the question is
what would we rather see when the first team offense
starts to warm up for the Colts on Sunday. Look,
I don't really care either way that the Hawks win
the game, no matter who plays quarterback for the Colts
on Sunday. But if there is any sliver of hope
at an upset right, can you see in your mind's eye? Jackson,
(01:25):
you chime in on this too. Can you see a scenario?
First of all, how big a story, how big of
a ridiculous story would it be, if the Colts signed
Philip Rivers and he leads them to a win on
Sunday afternoon at the age of forty four. How ridiculous
that would be versus the ridiculous nature of Riley Leonard
(01:47):
leading them to a win on Sunday. I personally think
it's more ridiculous if Philip Rivers does it, because the
guy hasn't played in five seasons. Either way, it'd be
a major disappointment. So the question Dick and Jackson then becomes,
who do you want to see taking those first snaps
with the Colts on Sunday?
Speaker 2 (02:02):
Well, I think that the bigger story clearly would be
a Philip Rivers right now. That would be the number
one national story in the NFL, regardless of what else
happens this week. If Riley Leonard beats the Seahawks, yes
it would be talked about. It'd be a big upset,
but it wouldn't be the Vegas It would be the
mea mega story. I think the Seahawks are gonna win regardless.
But I do look at Riley Leonard as a guy
(02:23):
that ran for almost one thousand yards and seventeen touchdowns
last season with Notre Dame. Right, So it's some talent there, Yeah,
there's some. There's some leg talent there. I don't know
how much arm talented. I didn't see a lot of
Notre Dame. I certainly didn't see a lot In the
last game he averaged four point seven yards per attempt.
So it was dink and dunk city in his first
in his first game. So you know, I think the
(02:44):
bigger store would be Rivers. I sitting at the game,
going as a fan. I want to see forty four
year old Philip Rivers play just for the store spectacle.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
Yes, because you don't care, because you're not concerned either way. Correct.
So if I'm not concerned either way, then let's see
and let's see what happened. So would you feel bad
if you got hurt by the way, Yes, I will
feel bad. I will even wore it came off the edge.
He just broke this guy.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Right, And nine percent of the time, if you were
to ask me that question about any other quarterback, I
would say, no, I don't care. He's making millions of dollars,
that's part of the game. But this guy, yes, I
would feel bad.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
But he kind of would Dick. I want to see
the old man.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
I want to see the old man too, But if
he gets hurt, I'm not feeling bad. This is a
guy who decided himself to get off his couch and
be a high school coach and decide to come out
here and play and potentially now likely start against the Seahawks,
right against again, I'm emphasize the very end there against
the Seahawks. Philip Rivers, you knew what you were getting
(03:40):
into when you decided to join the Colts, man like,
this is a defense. That is, we've compared it to
the twenty thirteen Seahawks. You know you're gonna get hit.
So if he gets hurt, sorry, Philip, I don't feel
bad for you. I want to see him out there
for the spectacle. Here's the one fear I have. The
one fear I have is that the Colts are just
going to give Jonathan Taylor the ball forty five times
(04:03):
and he's gonna go off for two hundred and fifty
yards and just run us to death. That is, That
is the partial fear that I have and why I
don't want to move on to the rams.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
Well, far be it from me to tell somebody they're
being irrational. Okay for me, but what about the Seahawks defense?
Have you seen this year that makes you think Jonathan
Taylor's right? Nothing at all?
Speaker 2 (04:23):
I mean, we write John Robinson last week he did
squawza mean, like, what are you talking about?
Speaker 3 (04:28):
That's the action if they scored no points. I think
I think you wrongly interpreted what I'm saying there. That
is that is the irrational Okay, got it good? That
is the thing that is, like you know you you
always ask coaches what keeps you up at night? That's
the thing that like my irrational brain takes over when
it's one AM and I'm up in the middle of
the night and I think to myself, oh god, what
if Jonathan Taylor goes off for two fifty and then
(04:51):
I wake up for normal at seven am and I realize, no,
that was idiotic.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
Well this is so, this is this would be the
way the Seahawks would lose this game is if remember
the where they played in the first half against Atlanta
before the second half? Yes, obviously, yeah, so off ther
first half second half way to distinguish those two I
do remember that game, right, But I remember thinking the
first half of the Falcon game, the only way the
Falcons win this game is if the Seahawks give it
to them. Yes, rights, everything that Atlanta was getting was
(05:18):
because the Seahawks were giving it to them. So if
the if the Colts come in here and they lose
this are they and they win this game on Sunday.
It's because the Seahawks gave them the game. It's because
Sam Darnold did what he did, uh, you know a
couple of weeks ago against the Rams and threw a
bunch of picks and fumbled the ball. I'll tell you
what I would do is that Shane Steichen, is that right,
the coach with the Colts coordinator. I would blitz the
piss out of Sam Darnald in this game. If I'm
(05:41):
anybody playing Sam Darnald until he proves he can hang
onto the football, yeah, consistently, and maybe the second half
was the turnaround he needed. I would come after this guy,
because that's the only way I've got, dude. Here's the thing,
guys about the Colts. They may be done because Daniel
Jones is hurt, but they're still.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Late in five. They're still in it, very much in
it solutely. And I feel bad for the Colts when
it comes to the schedule. I mean, the last seven
games for the Colts are all playoff teams, right, seven
for seven.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
The only one that might not make the playoffs are
the Chiefs. What do they have after us? They have
the forty nine ers Jaguars in Houston.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
I mean it is brutal, like they should probably lose
their last seven games in a row because they will
certainly be big time underdogs in each one of them.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
And then you're eight to nine, you don't make the playoffs,
and instead of getting a top ten pick, you're picking
traded in for soft gut right in the middle. Oh,
that's right, they got rinovated it. For sake, I got
no draft picks and Sauce Gardner's out for the year. Unbelievable, unbelievable.
But you know what, here's here's a way to feel
better about Colts fans. How many Colts fans are also
Indiana Hoosier fans? Yeah, and they're about to watch their
(06:48):
Would you take that? If you're a who's would if
you're if you're equal parts cold, equal parts, who's your
we'd just say, all right, here's the deal. The Colts
are going to start the year what were they like,
eight and two or whatever it was. They're gonna start
the year eight and two. Daniel Jones is gonna blow
his knee out or his killers or whatever it was.
You're gonna miss the playoffs. You're gonna trade for Sauce Gardner.
You're gonna give up draft picks and that thing's gonna
come falling apart, But I'll make you a trade. The
(07:09):
Hoosier has win the Big Ten title for the first
time in a thousand years.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
Okay, I would love that, and they would say, I
don't even believe you, because it's so preposterous that the
Hoosiers would win the Big Ten championship anyway, How preposterous
is it what Indiana just did.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
Is Fernanda Mendoza about to win the Heisman? Is Rick
new Heiseel about to be the coach at Wazoo? Who's
gonna be the coach at Michigan? All that and more
with Rick new Heisseel courtesy at Taco Time. Next on

Speaker 1 (08:01):
All right back here at the five twenty Bar and
Grill in welve you'd read spot to watch the game.

By the way, Mick, thanks for Taco Time for sponsoring
this thing every single Thursday. Is calling us from his
brand new office at Martin Stadium in Pullman, Washington, or
if he's at the Army Navy game one or the other,
(08:23):
Rick Neuheisel with us. How are you?
Speaker 5 (08:26):
I am wonderful, Tay, say hi to all the folks
at the five to twenty Bar and Grill. That's a
great place to hang out. I am in Baltimore getting
ready for Army Navy. Yes, I love it. Six or
sixty three fifty five and seven. Navy holds the advantage
first game played in eighteen ninety.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
Wow. Well, I got a feeling it might be picking
that for your Taco Time pick of the week. So
we'll see you in a few minutes. Here. We got
to bounce back from that Buckeye loss a week ago. Man,
But let me ask you, let me ask you about
the big news coming out of ann Arbor. The floor
is yours. Why don't you address the Sharon More firing
and the aftermath and everything we're hearing about now. He's
still in custody, going to get a rain tomorrow.
Speaker 5 (09:10):
What a mess man, A absolute nightmare of epic proportions.
You talk about a fall and then some. This guy
got a unbelievable opportunity handed to him when he got
the Michigan job. As everybody knows, Michigan is the winningest
program in the history of college football. He got the
(09:33):
chance to be the head coach when Jim Harbaugh was
suspended for three games actually maybe four games in that
National championship year, and Sharon was the head coach for
the last three of them and earned acclaim in so being,
And when Jim headed off to the NFL, the Michigan
job was his. He kind of corrected the ship. They
(09:56):
weren't very good offensively last year, especially with the forward pass,
but he corrected the ship, finished with wins against Ohio
State and Alabama, and then obviously made some hires to
try to cure the quarterback situation in the in the
throw game and got one of the celebrated high school athletes,
and writes Underwood away from LSU. He's a hometown kid.
(10:20):
They got him. They got him to stay right there
and in Michigan, and all seemed well until unfortunately they
lost to Ohio State. They'd had a four game winning
streak and then it came crashing downs. And so the
question now is, obviously they got evidence that he did
something inappropriate with a staffer. They've got evidence that this
(10:45):
rises to the level of cause. The question is when
did they have evidence and how long did they wait
to make this move? Were they actually aware of this
and then they waited until after the Ohio State game,
after signing date, And in so doing, do they still
get to say this rises to their level of cause?
(11:07):
And they're in lies? I think the biggest issue he's
going to be rain tomorrow. They haven't met yet charged him.
I'm not sure exactly what the charges will be. There's
reports that he brandished a weapon. It's so convoluted and
messy and sad. I don't know what else to say.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
Rick, Let's talk about the level of interest in that
job from the elite of the elite. Now I'm talking
about current NFL coaches, current top twenty college head coaches.
What's the level of interest from those type of guys
and who do you think would be the best fit there.
Speaker 5 (11:42):
Well, there's going to be a lot of guys that
are interested in It's the timing is bizarre, given that
now you've just signed a high school class and everybody
at Michigan now is a transfer or at least potential transfer.
So how do you get there fast enough to get
that all done? Especially when you're not sure who the
(12:03):
leadership is going to be at Michigan And a number
of these coaches have already been in this cycle, having
probably said no to Penn State. Kaitlin de Bore comes
to mind, right, His name immediately comes to as a
front runner for this job, and yet he just said
no to Penn State now happy he was at Alabama,
and that becomes difficult to be talking out of both
(12:27):
sides of your mouth. So is this is complicated? There
are a number of coaches that are going to be interested.
Jed Fish's name will be on the list because he
coached there. It's a natural. Jed's been successful. Jed has
earned acclaim and deservedly so. And now it's about you know,
(12:50):
is this the job that he's interested in. He's got
a game this weekend. They got Boise State in a
couple of days down in Los Angeles. I think he
wants to get through that and then decide if there
is any potential offer where he'd be. But I know
that he's excited about Washington. I know he's excited about
retaining the vast majority of this roster and going back
(13:12):
to battle again with the Huskies.
Speaker 6 (13:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
Well, Rick new heish with us courtesy at tackle time.
I guess Rick. Here's my question on Jed. I don't
have any doubt if he's offered the Michigan job, he's
going to take it. Okay, that's number one. But I
wonder how far down the list does Michigan need to go?
How many times, like, for example, how many times did
Penn Stake get told no before they hired Matt Campbell?
Probably three or four times before they hired Matt Campbell,
(13:35):
which is fine. He might be the best guy for
the job when it's all said and done. How far
down the list does Michigan need to go before they
offer the job the Jetfish?
Speaker 5 (13:44):
Oh, I don't think it's going to be very far. Softy,
I don't think it's going to be very far because
I think they're going to realize a number of the
guys are probably unwill and they're not going to be
able to wait these guys mull it over. So I
think they're going to move to the next candidate, and
(14:07):
I don't know how far they go before they get
a yes. That's the question, because this is a mess
right now.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
This is a mess, no question, different kind of mess
in South Bend, Indiana, a mess kind of created by
their athletic director.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
What did you make of his comments? What did you
make of the whole situation over the last week. We
haven't talked to you since they got left out.
Speaker 5 (14:29):
Well, let's start with the committee. How do you do
something five times in a row and stand up in
front of the nation and say they're the better teams
and then wait for a week when neither team plays
and then say no, actually we were wrong. These guys
were the better team and now head to head matters,
(14:50):
and then have the audacity to say it's because the
team that was right in the middle of them BYU
lost that's why we actually got to this point. That's ridiculous.
So it unfortunately puts a lot of shade on a
committee that's doing this. Gratis, they're just they're trying to help,
and they're all probably really wonderful people, but at the
(15:13):
end of the day, we're left to wonder what the
hell's going on here. And then for Pete Babakua, whose
team probably has the easiest path of anybody to the
college football playoff and it was designed with their former
athletic director Jack Forbrook as one of the four heads
of the committee that puts this twelve team deal together.
(15:34):
The only thing they conceded was that they would not
be in the four buys, and that was when they
all had to be conference champions. We've already gotten rid
of that rule in year two that rules out, so
now they can have a buy and they also get
at a ten and two record, get to go, and
they get to make their own schedule. I mean, there's
nothing more age than the path for Notre Dame to
(15:58):
make it to college football playoffs. So to whine at
the end of this, and I get why they were upset,
but to go and make it personal towards the acc
who obviously has to stump for their team. Everybody else
is stumping I mean, it's what they do, and for
for him to come after Jim Phillips in that regard
(16:18):
was poor form. And then I thought it was poor
form for Jim Phillips to react. I just wished all
that and Brett and Brett yor Mark from the Big Club.
I wish all that were over the phone rather than
out in the public, because now it just looks like
we don't know what the hell we're doing. But it's
looked like that for some time.
Speaker 1 (16:36):
Well, they're not the only team to decline an invite.
I mean they had what ten wins. I guess the
best team to say we're not going to a Bowl game,
I mean Iowa State, Kansas State, Florida State operation.
Speaker 5 (16:46):
And think about that, and think about that, softie, because
Pete Savaqua you was the former president of NBC Sports,
So he knows exactly what these games are worth to
the networks that put them on. And with ESPN and
ABC presenting almost all of these Bowl games, that's that's
probably somewhere between twenty and thirty million dollars hit to
(17:09):
that company. He know exactly what he was doing.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
Well, we already have. I mean, let's face it, first
of all, this backtrack. The idea of not going to
a ball game has been around for a long time.
I mean, you'by did it in two thousand and three,
if you remember right. He said, you know what, I'll
take Corey Williams touchdown in the Apple Cup. I'll go
six and six and we'll call it a day. And
he said no. So coaches have been doing that for
a long time. But I do wonder what this means
(17:33):
for the future of bowl games. And I think it
was you who went on the Dan Patrick Show and
I thought had a great idea. We're already doing all
these kickoff games anyway, the Chick fil A Classic, things
like that. Why not just make these bowl games week
zero of the college football season. Are you saying that
because you just came up with a great idea or
do you actually think that might be possible down the road.
Speaker 5 (17:55):
I think both. Well, I'm not going to pat myself
on the back and say it's a great idea. It's
an idea, yeah, And I think that, and I think
that it'd be a great way to start the college
football season. No one's going to opt out of them.
You're going to have really good teams playing some of
these places are more you know, warm weather climates and
(18:17):
probably are more attractive in this time of year. But
that aside, I think this is the way of the future,
and I hope that we get there sooner than later,
because I think the College Football Playoff guys might go
right past sixteen and on to twenty four and once
that happens, if you're not in. If you're not in,
(18:39):
you're probably ready to pack it in.
Speaker 2 (18:42):
Where are you then? On the weekly College Football Playoff show?
Some people think that we should not have a weekly
College FOOTBA Playoff show and it should come out once.
Speaker 5 (18:52):
Well, I promise you everybody on the committee wishes it
was not on. They don't want this all aired out
and having when they change their minds to be made
out to be bandits. But that's a TV show. That's
all part of this, the whole purchase of the College
Football Playoff. That's an ESPN mandate that there be a
(19:13):
show and they get those kind of ratings and be
able to sell the commercials for those shows. So's that's
an ESPN thing that that's the deal that will have
to be broken between the CFP and the network.
Speaker 1 (19:26):
Yeah, Rick, let me go back to the Michigan thing.
For a second, who do you think gets the gig?
Call it? Call it right now for us. I mean,
we won't hold you to it right And obviously a
lot can change. But if you had to take one
name off the board and put them on the sideline
at Michigan, who would that name be in your mind?
Speaker 5 (19:45):
Gosh, that's a great one. I got to tell you
that Jed came to mind immediately because I know he
enjoyed it there. But again, Jed worked for Harball, and
I don't know that they want anything to do with
harbor Ball, that whole mess with Connor Stallions and that,
not that Jed was involved in any of that. But
(20:08):
I think they're gonna look outside the Harbaugh family. Maybe
Jed isn't part of the search. We'll wait and see,
but the list is small. Their first guy they'll go
for is obviously Kaylin de Bor.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
Right, you think he'll do it? Would you? Would you
do it? Would you leave Bama? I heard today, guys,
I'm rick.
Speaker 5 (20:29):
I heard today.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
Unless I'm wrong, that his buyouts like five million. It's
nothing at Alabama at all.
Speaker 5 (20:35):
Yeah, No, I think that, especially if this doesn't go
well in Norman if this doesn't go well in Norman
and that heat gets cooked up because you know he
isn't Nick Saban. Who the hell is going to be
Nick Saban? I could see that happening, and happening quickly.
Speaker 2 (20:55):
Well, Rick, we're in unanonymity on this show at least,
and he was included that we'd love to see the
new Heidel show come to Pullman. There is no question
about that. I think it's a great idea. How about
the level of interest that Pullman has shown. Have you
had any conversations with Washington State University.
Speaker 5 (21:13):
I had a brief conversation with some folks there, and
it was pleasant and fun to kind of talk about
what might be, But it hasn't risen to the level
of serious candidacy. I would tell you I think that
there's certainly the wheels are turning. I'm hoping that I
can have another conversation because I think it would be
(21:36):
wonderful to coach with my son, And they had that
in the basketball side of things with Dick and Tony Bennett.
So hopefully they're looking back and saying that worked out okay,
maybe this could work out well for the new heisls
and so fingers crossed. But you know what, We've got
a great job. I get to do the Army Navy
game this weekend. I've got a pretty fortunate life, so
(21:59):
no bad news for regardless.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
So would you be would you be looking at that
honestly as a situation where you'd want to come in
like Dick and Tony Bennett didn't coach for a year
or two whatever, and then eventually have Jerry take over.
Speaker 5 (22:11):
Well, I don't know a year, but I would. I
would certainly want that to be a possibility. I don't
know how you put that into the language, but I'm
interested because obviously I think it's a it's a cool job.
I don't have any real conflicts because we're no longer
in the same conference as Washington. I think we can
(22:33):
root for each other other than the one Apple Cup Saturday.
And then I think the fact that the chance to
coach with my kid is a bucket list item.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
Yeah, but think about all the golf you won't get
to play play Blue Ridge.
Speaker 5 (22:48):
Well, you know what my handicaps going the other way anyway.
Speaker 2 (22:55):
Rick thoughts at all on the last Husky game coming
up this Saturday, the first first ball game.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
Do you know anything about Boise State.
Speaker 5 (23:02):
Well, Maddix Manson is back and he was seventeen to
thirty one, three touchdowns two eighty nine in that game
that got him the championship of the Mountain West. That's
gonna be a key that Ryan Walters and that defense
who played Yeoman football down the stretch, a really really
good job by Ryan. They're going to have to play
(23:25):
and they can't look down their nose that this is
not a worthy opponent just because they're not a Power
five school or Power four school. This is you better
be ready to play. This is exactly the DNA of
Boise State to take down a big name, right, So
if you're ready to go, then I think the Dogs
will be fine, but you cannot not have your a game.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
Well, the elliotb Bull is going away. This is the
last one. They're gonna blow it up after this thing
is over. I mean that's kind of partly what happens
when you get fans six days to get ready for
a game, for God's sakes, and I find it to
be idiotic that this thing would announced on Sunday and
they're playing six days later on Saturday, So no surprise.
The thing that the thing is getting blown up. But
we got a couple of options this weekend, Rick for
(24:09):
the Tacoa Time Pick of the Week, and we're going
to get back to five hundred at seven and eight
on the air. It's been a hell of a rally
to get to that part. You got the Army Navy
game Saturday, the LA Bowl, the cricket celebration, bull more
ball games next week to get to five hundred. Courtesy
of Tacola Time. Who do you like?
Speaker 5 (24:28):
In honor of my father who was a captain in
the United States Army, a member of the Jag Corps,
I will take Army as a kick point underdog wow,
and tell you that Jeff Monkin and the Black Knights
are going to get this done. Give me go Army
beat Navy.
Speaker 1 (24:49):
Army plus the six straight up to love it. I
love it, Army plus the Six. Have fun out there,
enjoy it and we will talk soon. Man. Thank you coach.
Speaker 5 (24:59):
All right, boy, I appreciate you enjoying the weekend.
Speaker 1 (25:02):
You bet Rick new Heislo with US likes Army and
the points against Navy, says he had a brief conversation
with Washington State. Says it was pleasant and Fun, but
has not yet risen to the level of serious candidacy

It's now time for sufday in Dick's fun with Audio,
Jimmy g.
Speaker 1 (26:13):
Pawn Star, Jimmy mister garoppolo. Now let's have some fun
with audio. All right, we are back at the five
forty Bar and Grill in Bellevue. Mike Holmegrin joins us,
coming up here four o'clock this afternoon. Lots to get
to with Mike. We'll talk about Grandpa Rivers literally a
grandpa maybe starting a quarterback for the Colts on Sunday,
(26:33):
the Sharon Moore situation in Michigan. How he would handle
all that if he were his boss.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
I wonder if they called Mike to play quarterback?
Speaker 1 (26:40):
Boy? Well, I mean they might. They might call Mike
to either coach Michigan or coach Washington State, who knows
one or the other. How about a little fun with
audio slash hat Did you hear that? Hey, Dick, did
you happen to hear that? What's that? Dick? All right,
why don't we start because you've been waiting to play
this for a week, Jackson. Let's start with four All right.
During the Clippers loss to the Mavericks last week, LA
(27:01):
Fan Duel Sports Network broadcasters Brian Seaman and Jimmy Jackson
got into a four minute disagreement during the third quarter
after Jackson asked Semen a trivia question. Here's a taste
of the uncomfortable few minutes where they completely ignored the game.
Speaker 4 (27:17):
So I go back to that trivia question you swung
on me.
Speaker 5 (27:20):
Ambushed is a better words the trios to the NBA.
I didn't have bush.
Speaker 3 (27:25):
What was it?
Speaker 1 (27:26):
Ambush? So the whole premise of the question was way off.
Speaker 5 (27:29):
No, it was not. We're made No.
Speaker 7 (27:33):
No, no, no, tell me no, I'm not telling you.
Speaker 1 (27:37):
You tell me exactly what I asked you. Here's the
family members, and say, what was the first I did
say that?
Speaker 5 (27:43):
Last?
Speaker 1 (27:44):
I didn't say ahead, they give me a question, not
because I'll tell you where it's off. Okay, see that's
what I'm saying. And now you want to twist my question. No, no, no,
I just ask you give me the question. I'm not
gonna see that's wait, give me a question.
Speaker 5 (27:59):
I forget because your friend is an actor.
Speaker 3 (28:04):
And that's the whole.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
Reasoning off delirium. So you just say you just know
you were wrong. Ask me the question. I didn't. I
don't know how it was. Did you record that audio
with a plastic microphone on the television? It's what you
sent me, Softie. I did. Yes, I didn't even listen
to it. I just said it to you. I would
I would have heard it. Oh well, there is some
(28:25):
coldability on Softi's part. Then if he did send it,
I said to you, but I never listened to it
because I want to hear it for the first time
on the air, Softly. That's why when I send you something,
I want to hear it and have natural reactions. I
wish I knew what the question was that they talked
about for a minute.
Speaker 2 (28:39):
That sound is my ambient sound of baskets hammering against
the court.
Speaker 1 (28:44):
That sounds like somebody recording an audio piece of audio
off their television. I just sent it to me. I
just told you because don't want to hear it for
the first time. He really can do what Jim Seaman
just did with Jimmy Jackson or Brian Seman. Andre you
argue about this for the next five that it sounds
like a couple of guys, by the way, that do
that all the time. Have you heard those guys on
(29:04):
your air? I haven't heard that on the ear. It
sounds like two guys that don't like each other either,
by the way, So there you go. That's what it
sounds like when two guys told to ignore the basketball game.
Hope everybody enjoyed that. All right, Hey, Dick, did you
happen to hear that? I did?
Speaker 5 (29:15):
What's that?
Speaker 1 (29:16):
Dick? Let's go to number one. After signing with the
Coltch yesterday, forty four year old grandfather Philip Rivers how
to press conference and talked about how his ten children
feel about him playing again.
Speaker 5 (29:26):
They've been very supportive. You know.
Speaker 6 (29:27):
I think my younger children are most excited. I shouldn't
say most excited. They're excited because they don't remember dad playing.
You know. My six year old actually asked me like
four months ago, like Dad, why don't you play anymore?
And I'm like, I'm sorry, best you're gonna get his
me coaching on the sideline, you know, because they were
seeing you know, highlight or they're pulling up some you know,
old games. My boys are fired up, obviously, but I
(29:48):
think share the same sentiment a little nervous, like Dad,
you can you think you can do it?
Speaker 5 (29:52):
You know?
Speaker 6 (29:53):
And then my older girls are real excited because they're
they're a little bit confused. They're like, shoot, I was twelve,
you know. Some of them, you know now all of
a sudden they're grown adults, married, and and they remember
sixteen years old going to the ball game. So it's, uh,
it's been, it's been. It's been a whirlwind for forty
eight hours.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
I'll say, I wonder if his wife is worried about
him getting hurt in a game on Sunday. I would
imagine and I would tell her, listen, babe, I'm gonna
do this. But if I see anybody within two feet
of me, I'm just gonna dirt the ball. I'm getting
rid of it right away, and I'm gonna see if
I can wear red jersey. I mean, I think every
red jersey.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
I think every every play call needs to be out
of your hand within two seconds, right. I mean, there
cannot be any deep five step seven step drops, right,
I mean.
Speaker 1 (30:37):
And if it is deep, it's a fifteen step drop
and you're just running backwards before you set your feet.
But I mean, I don't know. I mean, at some
point he's got it. If he's gonna play, He's gonna
play the game, right, What do you do? Just hand
off fifty times? Maybe Jonathan Taylor?
Speaker 5 (30:50):
Maybe you?
Speaker 1 (30:51):
Oh my god, I mean, I'm with you, though I'm
looking forward to seeing him play. I kind of hope
he does play on Sunday. All right, Hey, Dick, did
you happen to hear that today that Dick Notre Dame
athletic director Pete Bavakua joining The Dan Patrick Show on Tuesday?
It took a shot at the ACC and their commissioner,
Jim Phillips.
Speaker 5 (31:08):
What role did the ACC play in any of this
in your opinion?
Speaker 7 (31:12):
Well, I would tell you, I mean again, I have
tremendous respect for Miami. We have no gripes about any
of the schools in the ACC, but we were mystified
by the actions of the conference to attack, you know,
their biggest really business partner in football and a member
of their conference in twenty four of our other sports.
(31:33):
And I would tell you, Dan, I wouldn't be honest
with you if I didn't say that they have certainly
done permanent damage to the relationship between the conference and
Notre Dame.
Speaker 1 (31:43):
What do you mean just we.
Speaker 7 (31:44):
Didn't appreciate the fact that we were singled out repeatedly
and compared to Miami. Not but Miami. Miami has every
right to do that, but it raised a lot of
eyebrows here that the conference was taking shots at us,
and you know that's not something we chose to do.
Speaker 5 (32:01):
Are you're going to reevaluate your relationship with the ACC,
the overall relationship.
Speaker 7 (32:06):
I would just say it's been strained.
Speaker 1 (32:09):
So let me just get this straight. Okay, Yes, Notre
Dame is still an independent in football, correct, But they
play in the ACC in other sports. Yes, So Miami's
in the ACC and football, and the ACC was promoting
Miami for a college football playoffs? What is he bitching about?
They're not in the ACC and football. The ACC went
with their conference football affiliation and promoted them because if
(32:34):
Miami makes the CFP and football, they split the share
with the ACC. Right. If Notre Dame makes the CFP,
they don't split it with the ACC because they're independent.
Hey hell is this guy talking?
Speaker 2 (32:45):
Hey Pete, guess what coming in March? If your basketball
team is a bubble team, right, the ACC will promote
you on their social channels because you're a part of
their conference.
Speaker 1 (32:56):
What if they don't? How funny would that be? A
after this, come any any slap to Notre Dames. I
mean that is happening, Like, what does he expect them
to do? They're in the conference in football. Of course
they're gonna choose a member institution over a non member institution,
regardless of whether or not Notre Dame plays women's tennis
in the ACC.
Speaker 2 (33:16):
Wouldn't that be weird? If their social media pumped Notre
Dame and Miami.
Speaker 1 (33:20):
People be like, what are you doing? Yeah? I just
I don't know. I think they look terrible. I think
they look like cry babies, and I think it's actually
kind of hurting their brand a little bit, to be
honest with you. Now, there's these stories coming out that
there's a lot of schools around country they're telling Notre Dame,
we're not gonna play it, screw you, take a hike.
I think USC should do that. We don't want brow.
I think that would piss off a lot of USC fans,
including petros by the way, and maybe that guy right there,
(33:41):
we'll talk to him. Mike Holgrin joins next on ninety
three to three KJRFM
