Speaker 1 (00:00):
Were we go.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Dan Bilzma has been whacked as the head coach of.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
The Seattle Kraken.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
I can't remember the last time, Dick, that all three
of our major sports franchises in Seattle, meaning the Seahawks, Mariners,
and the Kraken. Right, three of the big four had
coaches that combined the most experienced any of them had
was a year, and that's Mike McDonald. He's going into
year two, Dan Wilson's in year one, and now the

(00:29):
Kraken are going to have a brand new head coach
for next season.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
So it's crazy how quick this happened.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Where you got three new names on the job for
all three franchises, and then the conversation about, well, how
about the guys that are doing the firings, right, I
mean all of them are on the hot seat, Ron Francis,
Jerry Depoto, John Schneider.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Only question is which seat should be hotter? Well, you
put a poll out and uh I did, Dave in
the category of you can't make this stuff upright?

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Would you like the update on the poll? Are you
updating my poll for meat for you? Because I think.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
It is very humorous? Three two and one? Whose seat
should be hotter this next season. Yes, Francis got twenty
six percent, Schneider got twenty percent. Guess how many Jerry
Depoto got? Tell me fifty four? Big no, which is
the exact You cannot make that up. Jerry Depoto wins

(01:23):
so far with fifty four percent of the vote. Well,
but that's just the perception. There is the reality of
our offense, and then the perception.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
I mean, I think people got to back off. I mean,
the guy's twelve and ten. You know what more do
you want? You know what their record was after twenty
two games a year ago, by the way, the Mariners,
they were eleven and eleven?

Speaker 1 (01:39):
What was that? Right after twenty two games last week?
When were they so they were let's see, they were
six and ten to start and then the rally just
like they were four and ten, four and eight to
start this year, and they.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
I mean, look, obviously this last week was fun for
the Mariners, There's no doubt about it. And I'm a
little more bullish on these guys than maybe other people are.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
We did the predictions. I think I said ninety three.
You said.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Whatever, Jackson, I mean, really, in the end, the numbers
aren't that far off. It's like an extra win a month,
but an extra win a month in the end could
be freaking Giants or not. It's the difference between making
it in October and not making it in October.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
So it actually is a huge deal.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
But we'll just hold off on the Mariners for a second,
because first of all, we have a lot to get
to today. Darryl Ryder, I believe from w kN R
in Cleveland, will join us at three twenty eight and
we'll talk about what the Browns are up to at
number two on the clock. And then Pauli Detino Pool
is not at the Giant game. He will be home

(02:34):
tonight talking with us on the radio show, but we'll
confirm with his wife. By the way, just ask her
Giant game. He'll join us at five point forty five.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
And he was.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Asking, is there any way I can go on earlier
and I said, well, not really, because we need to
find out what the Browns are doing it too, And
he says, everybody wants to know what the Browns are
doing at number two. They claim to have no idea,
no insight whatsoever as to what the Browns are doing
at number two. So we're gonna hit the Browns. We're
gonna hit the Giants little on us for a little
more at four with Hugh at four o'clock today and
then me to Chimes. She's kind of busy starting tomorrow

(03:05):
with draft stuff right with the ESPN show. Hop on
with us at five o'clock tonight on the radio show.
So that's the schedule. We got a lot of topics
to hit, a lot of breaking news. I mean the
big news of the day I think overall is the
crack and firing their head coaching Dan Bousman. I had
this conversation with Ian and Cross Talk Dick, and I
think if you're a hockey fan, and really even if

(03:26):
you're a basketball fan, because we know that Todd light
Wiki is going to have his fingerprints all over the
NBA when the Sonics return.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
I mean we can both agree on.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
That, right, So he's not gonna say, you know what,
I'm out let somebody else hands I I mean this
is gonna be. This will be when the NBA does return,
just a little hop top topic hop for a second
will be his crown jewel. Right with the guy that
got the Sonics to return to Seattle and the arena,
Dunn is going to be his crown jewel. I think

(03:55):
that really is why Todd Liwiki got involved in this.
Not that he doesn't love hockey. Loves hockey, He loves
the Crack, and he loves thirty two thousand depositors. He
loves all that stuff. But he's in this to bring
the NBA back to town. He is in this to
restore the DNA of the heart and soul of Seattle
as a sports town. So when that happens, he will
absolutely bet your ass have his thumb prints all over it.

(04:17):
And if he's willing as the president of the Seahawks
to fire Jim Mora after one year and hire Pete Carroll,
if he's willing as the president of the Crack and
he's actually above the president now he's got some fancy
or schmancier title now, but the buck stops with him.
If he's willing to fire Dan Biosma after one year

(04:38):
and identify that it's not working, what is he willing
to do if he's running.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
The NBA, I mean he wants to win.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
He's in his mid sixties, for God's sake, Dick, He's
not gonna wait around forever to win A Stanley cup
in Seattle. So I just think from a fans perspective,
we can talk about whether or not it was right
to fire Biosma in a minute, but the aggressiveness that
he has shown as the president, into the Seahawks and
now running the Kraken, I think it's freaking tremendous.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
I did too. I totally agree with what you said
with Ian and Crosstalk. This franchise needs personality because if
you asked any Kraken fan out there, what's the DNA
of the Kraken, what's the personality of the Kraken? And
I don't think they have established one in four years, right,
And they haven't had a superstar on the ice. They've

(05:25):
kind of anointed Grubauer at first and then Matty Beneer's,
but neither one of them have played like superstars, and
they haven't had a coach that I mean. We enjoyed
talking to Hack when we had him on. We enjoyed
talking to bos when we had him on. But neither
one of them were personalities. Not one of them were outspoken,
gregarious where you'd want to listen to their press conferences,

(05:45):
and that doesn't necessarily always make a good coach. Sure, sure,
but when you don't have wins, you need something to
hang your hat, right, and they haven't had anything to
hang their hand. I just need some juice, man, they
need some juice.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
You know, whether it's a guy beating the crap out
of every one every night on the ice rate and
ENFORCERR a guy with a personality, right, And you thought
maybe Turbo would be that guy because the first picture
we had of Brandon Tannev was his eyes popping out
of his skull.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
Well, he got that guy. He got a lot of
pub out of that one photo.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Yeah, this guy's gonna be a freaking Madiac for us.
This is gonna be great, And it just never turned
out like that. So I mean yeah, I mean, obviously
I agree they could be the same conversation with Ian
during cross talk, but that that's the next step. Man
is just hiring somebody who obviously can come in here
and number one take advantage of the talent they have
on the roster. I don't think this was a Stanley
Cup Championship hockey team, but they probably shouldn't have been

(06:37):
this bad either. I mean, give Dan credit, they were
fighting towards the end. They weren't quitting. They weren't giving up,
and a lot of teams would do that. But the
injuries and the way Philip Grubauer played, all that stuff
got him when it's all said and done. So I
just think for me, it's just a bigger testament to
Todd laiwiki and a bigger signal to what kind of
executive this guy is. And he's he's shown it twice.

(06:59):
This is the second time now, guys that he is
fired a Seattle head coach after one year and realize
that this just isn't working. We got to make a change.
So I think from that perspective, I think all fans
should be fired up, including cracking fans and Sonic fans.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
Now we got that going on.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
We got the mock draft on Wednesday from the Queen
Ann Beer Hall, real draft from the vMac on Thursday
and Friday. I'll just tell you tomorrow Mike Florio is
gonna join us by the way at three ten and
talk some draft. John Schneider spoke today. I don't know
how much we can glean from that, right, Like, when
was the last time you heard Schneider talk? And tell yourself,
oh man, he just gave away a huge nugget. He

(07:36):
just gave away some big time, pertinent information that nobody
even thought about until now.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
But we'll listen to some of Schneider as the show
goes on. The Mariners.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
Okay, this is kind of one of those weeks where
the Mariners are gonna go to Boston, They're gonna do
their thing. They're kinda gonna be behind the curtain a
little bit because a lot of sports fans will be
focused on the National Football League and the NFL Draft
and what is it Miami coming up after that. I'm
not mistaken the Marlins are next after Boston. So this
is one of those weeks where the Mariners, if they

(08:06):
emerge next week and we're talking about a baseball team
that is eighteen and twelve or whatever, they would be right.
There's a chance to really get some momentum going here.
And here's the thing that I like about this baseball
team right now, They're not even really playing that great, right.
I mean, the bullpen's not performing that well, the back

(08:27):
end of the rotation is not performing that well. Julio
Rodriguez has really done nothing of note significantly so far
for this baseball team. Everybody's talking about the week that
Cal Riley and Dylan Moore had and rowdy tlez and
they should all get their flowers. But in the last week,
Julio's got a five thirty five ops with one extra
Bashit okay, So they haven't even begun yet to hit

(08:49):
their stride.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
Matt Brash is not available yet.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
George Kirby's got a VP, I believe at t Mobile
Park later this week.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
He's on his way back.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
Emerson Hancock doing the best he can holding down that
five hole. So I think if you're a Mariners fan,
I mean, you can be as skeptical as pessimistic as
you want.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
And I get it.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
It's only been twenty two games and they were eleven
and eleven after twenty two a year ago. But the
runs are way up, the strikeouts are down. Last year,
in the first twenty two games of the year, they
had two games of eight runs or more. They've already
got five. In the first twenty two games last year
they had three games of seven or more. They already

(09:29):
have six and the first twenty two of this year.
And look, I get it's a small sample, right, I
get it. You're talking about you know, what one eighth
of the season, whatever it is so far has been gone,
so it's not insignificant, but it's not a gigantic sample either.
It looks to me, knock on wood, cross your fingers,
hold your breath, that maybe, just maybe, and maybe I'm

(09:52):
just a big sucker here, Dick, that the plan is
starting to come into place right that the strikeouts are down,
score is up.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
Guys that you were counting on are starting to perform.
Randy A. Rose Arena.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
We just got done talking in the previous few minutes
about the lack of juice for the kracking. Well, Randy
Rose Arena is providing some juice for this baseball team,
not just at the play personality and in the field
as well. I'm talking about smashing into walls and the
clutch hits that he's got. He's starting to provide a
little bit of personality and juice and charisma for the
baseball team. So I don't know, I mean, I just

(10:24):
not to steal a line from Ayo Haaneo Suarez, who's
no longer here, But there's some good vibes going on
right now, a little bit, just a little bit.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
And I think it's really more with the approach than
it is with the actual talented talent that they have
on the roster. Offensively, my number one question with this
team going into the season was would they look different
at the plate, And they have looked significantly different at
the plate. They haven't tried to pull everything, they haven't
swung nearly as many bad bitches. You mentioned the strikeouts.

(10:53):
They were worse in baseball last year at sixteen hundred
and twenty five. That's right, they're only seventh worst, which
is a geve An improvement.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
Whether on pace for two hundred and three or fourteen
ninety four, that's right.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
That is a one hundred and thirty one less than
last year. So that's a strikeout a game sure less
than last year. Now, they still can't hit at home.
I mean that's the thing.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
I mean.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
You look at the home road splits. Oh, their home
split is six twenty three ops at home. It's eight
sixteen on the road. Their ops this year at home
is worse than it was last year. I look at
Riddy t Lez.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
I mean, Riddy to Lez goes on the road with
a nine to twenty three OPS and he's slugging six fifty.
He's slugging two eighty with a four to twenty eight.
I mean, look, Dylan Moore, I'm not so concerned about right,
but the stars, the regulars, right like Cal Rowley, Julio
or Rose Arena, JP Crawford. Guys, they've got to find
a way to hit at T Mobile Park. They have to, right,

(11:50):
And that stererro to Poto's issue is that he can
build a pitching staff that can perform at home but
not on the road, and it can build a hitting
staff that can perform on the road but not at home. Well,
what's and really what it is?

Speaker 1 (12:03):
It's the home field is so detrimental to your offense
that the question is are you going to carry that
on the road with you? And I thought at times
the Mariners in past seasons have carried that whatever they
were mired in at home. You know, let's let's use
the golf analogy, right, because it speaks to us. Right.

(12:23):
Sometimes you just go out and nowhere, no matter where,
you players like, my game's no good right now right,
and you're not gonna play well anywhere yesterday. But sometimes
but sometimes you go out and say, hey, I play
well at this course, or I don't play well at
this course, well, I think the difference but part of
the difference between this year's team, which by the way,
is one hundred points better ops on the road than

(12:43):
they were last year. They're at eight eighteen or eight
sixteen this year. They were at seven oh seven last year.
Away from the park. I think partially what's going on
is they're not carrying that burden of te Mobile Park
and saying I'm not a good hitter. What they're doing
is they're kind of using the be like we're away
from that place, now I can hit, and they're actually

(13:05):
hitting the baseball.

Speaker 2 (13:06):
The difference, I mean, I don't know what's going on
in their brains, but the difference, there's there's a couple differences.
One of them is the staff, and that's Edgar Martinez
was not.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
Here a year.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
Agar Martinez at the end, Yeah, sitting at home watching
these guys struggle on TV. And now he's been involved
obviously since the end of last season. And then obviously
Dan Wilson and look, I mean I just think that
when you go out and you make moves like Randy
A Rose Arena justin Turner, you know they were okay
when they were here, but Randy a Rose Arena looks
like he's turning into a leader for this baseball team.

(13:36):
And Kyle Riley, my god, I mean, who gives a
crap what his batting average is. This guy's on pace
for seventy bombs. I mean, he is just a machine
right now. He might be the best power hitter in baseball.
So the Torpedo bats helping him, there's no doubt about that.
You know, the pitching staff is gonna have to get better.
The bullpen's gonna have to get better. I heard Nathan
Bishop and Chris Crawford on the Smack Yourself in the
Face Show. Although it wasn't that today, it was a

(13:58):
real fun show with those guys on this mollyhow that.
You know they gotta win a normal game, right because
he's just slugging it out with everybody. That's probably not sustainable,
not for this offense. I think the offense will be better.
I thought they'd be better than they were a year ago.
But do I, by no means think they're elite offensively.
I mean nobody thinks that. I don't think Jerry Depoto
thinks they're elite offensively. Well he might, but I don't.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
But Julio Rodriguez. I mean, come on, let's get going.

Speaker 2 (14:24):
This is now another year where he has taken time
to kind of get the engine started. So can they
continue to do I mean, Dylan Moore is not going
to continue to do what he did last week. Correct,
clearly that's the first time in his life he's been
a Player of the Week.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
But can he be half of what he was? Can
he be three quarters of what he was? I think
cal Raley can continue this.

Speaker 2 (14:45):
By the way, I think cal Rawley is a forty
plus run guyer, but he needs RBIs. He needs guys
on base, and that starts in a lot of ways
with Julio right, starts with Julio, starts with a Rose Arena,
starts with all those guys, And I don't want to
see cal Rowley hit forty home runs and have ninety
RBIs right when it's all said and done. So I'm
excited for these guys. I like what I'm seeing so far,

(15:07):
but it's gonna be interesting to see what they do
when the spotlight is kind of on the Seahawks this week,
not that they give a damn where the spotlight is. Obviously,
nobody's sitting there in Boston going, hey, guys, nobody's watching us.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
Let's go have some fun.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
But I do, I do wonder what this week looks
like with them, because for as fickle as Mariner fans are,
and we're fickle too, right, they fall apart and they
go one and five in the next six games, then
whatever good vibes you've had exactly flushed down the toilet.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
Exactly. I'm really interested to see what this pitching staff does,
because you know, it's it has not been good away
from the park. I mean, it's a four, it's almost
five era away from home. And once again, that just
shows what this ballpark does for pitchers and what this
ballpark does for hitters. And I think all along, I
think we have overestimated how good our pitching staff is,

(15:54):
and I think we've underestimated how good our offense is.
Well in the reality this year, last year, well, I
think even last year we talked about you know, even
last year we talked about how the pitching staff was
middle of the road away from home, right, And we
just think of this pitching staff to be a lead,
to lead, a leader to look at all these arms,
Well they are here, but they aren't anywhere else.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
Yeah, I mean, but that's gonna happen though, right when
you pitching a pitcher's park, that's gonna happen. And by
the way, if you're expecting the pitching staff to be
dominant at Fenway, I'm not. I mean this the idea
of winning normal baseball games, Like Nathan Bishop said about
an hour ago or two hours ago, I'm not banking
on that tomorrow because they're playing in a freaking bambox.
So you want to win the games eight to seven,
that's fine, But eventually, yes, we gotta break here. The

(16:36):
pitching staff is gonna have to come down a little
bit and stop giving up so many damn runs on
the road. All right, we're gonna break. Darryl Ryder gonna
join us. The Browns are on the clock at number two.
What are they doing? Everybody wants to know, Carter Hunter?
What's up next? On ninety three three KJRFM.

Joining us right now on the radio show. He's been
with the Browns Media, Cleveland Media. God bless him for
almost thirty years. Man, holy cow, our friend from Cleveland, Ohio.
He's been on with us before. He says yes when

(17:39):
everybody else says no. From ninety two to three to
fan Darryl Ryder, Daryl, how are you, pal? What's going on?

Speaker 3 (17:46):
I've seen some stuff, Softy, That's all I'll say.

Speaker 2 (17:48):
Yeah, you have seen some stuff. Man, you've seen some
stuff with his football team too. I've said it before,
I'll say it again. No fan base in the NFL
deserves a championship and a Super Bowl more than you,
guys and the Lions right behind you. By the way,
so tell me about this, the current situation, the atmosphere
around the football team. Number two pick in the draft,
that's fine, but nobody wanted the number two pick in

(18:10):
the draft because you thought when you signed DeShawn Watson
those days were over, but now they're right back to
where you were in square one. So what's the vibe,
what's the atmosphere around this football team right now?

Speaker 5 (18:22):
Well, Deshaun is about to be put in the rearview mirror.
That's first and foremost. That's very apparent from comments made
by ownership who have acknowledged that the signing was a
swing and a miss, both on the field as well
as just his availability, either through suspensions or injuries. He
had two achilles surgeries within the span of three months.

(18:42):
His availability this year is pretty much non existent.

Speaker 1 (18:45):
So they right now.

Speaker 5 (18:47):
Are just trying to get out of that contract, which
they can't do, so they got to run the clock
out on it. So last season was a complete and
unmitigated disaster. At three and fourteen, gets in the second
pick in the draft after not having pick for three
years because of that Watson trade. Congratulations to the Browns
for returning to the draft in a big, big way.

Speaker 1 (19:08):
What is the timeline on that, on that Watson deal
where it becomes just painful instead of debilitatingly painful.

Speaker 5 (19:15):
Well, they've got one more year of payments to make
and then the dollars will have been paid, but then
they have to begin the process of the salary cap ramifications,
and that is essentially just trying to spread that out
over a two year period. The cap has been going up,

(19:39):
so thankfully those dollars will get less and less is
they go down the road here to do this. But
it is still a sizeable commitment for a cap commitment,
I should say, just setting aside the financial part for
a guy who has basically done nothing for your franchise.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
Well, Darryl Ryder with us again three of the Fan
in in Cleveland, and let's let's talk about what you
guys are doing with that number two pick, because the
Titans are obviously taking cam Ward. New York is sitting around.
Paul Detino from Wfan is gonna come on with us
at five forty five, and he wants to know what
the hell the brands are doing? So what what will
they do? What should they do? And are they the

(20:19):
same thing in your mind?

Speaker 3 (20:22):
Well, I think that they're going to take Travis Hunter.

Speaker 5 (20:25):
I have been on the I have been leading the
Travis Hunter bandwagon since February here in Cleveland.

Speaker 3 (20:30):
Why and well, I love his versatility.

Speaker 5 (20:33):
I love the fact that not only can be a
number one franchise wide receiver, which the Browns do need,
but also too he can help on defense. Basically, if
the ball is in his hands, he can score touchdowns.
And the last time I checked, the Cleveland Browns are
not good. It's scoring touchdowns. They need people that can
do that. So and also too, when you look at
draft capital spin over the last five ten years, the

(20:55):
Browns are one of the worst teams when it comes
to drafting offensive talent and in PAC full offensive talent.
So I think that this is an opportunity to bring
in a very unique player. I don't think he's a
full time player on both sides of the ball, but
I do think he can be a number one receiver
and then be a package cornerback.

Speaker 1 (21:16):
Do you think the Browns would give Hunter carte blanche
on whatever he wants to do and whenever he wants
to play on both sides of the ball.

Speaker 5 (21:24):
I don't know that they would give him carte blanche,
but I'm sure that there would be some you know,
mutual consultation there. They're obviously not going to want to
put him in a situation that he's uncomfortable with and also,
you know, vice versa.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
So it's interesting.

Speaker 5 (21:40):
His father, Dion Standers, made a comment at the at
the pro De Extravagans or whatever they called that thing,
and it Boulder a couple of weeks ago when he said, hey,
once he get drafted, that's all well and good he goes.
Then the challenge becomes the second contract. That's what you're
working for, that's what you're playing for. So yeah, so
if Travis Hunter becomes the second pick the draft, that'll

(22:00):
be great and he'll get that rookie contract. But it's
up to him then to play at a level that
gets in that maximum second contract.

Speaker 1 (22:08):
Yeah, I get.

Speaker 2 (22:09):
I guess the question becomes this, So the Giants Daryl again,
Daryl Ryder ninety two to three, the fan. The Giants
have already come out their general manager and said, yeah,
he can play both ways for us. If we take
him number three, he can play both ways. So do
the Browns see him in the end as more of
a wide receiver, more of a corner Yeah, playing him

(22:29):
occasionally on the other side of the ball. I could
see really anybody doing that. But if the Browns do
take Travis Hunter, do they focus him as more of
a dB or more of a wide receiver?

Speaker 3 (22:39):
You think, I think wide receiver.

Speaker 5 (22:41):
In the fact that Andrew Berry, the GM compared him
to show Hey Otani, I think that tells you what
Andrew Bury really thinks of Travis Hunter. I don't think
there's a bigger compliment that you can give a kid.
I don't know if the comparison is relevant or matches
or whatever, but it's a pretty it's a pretty compelling

(23:02):
comparison that a GM would make when this is supposed
to be poker face season and you don't want to
be showing anyone in your cards. I almost kind of
feel like Andrew Barry showed his cards. So if they
don't draft Travis Onder Thursday, there's a part of me
that's going to be.

Speaker 3 (23:14):
A little surprised.

Speaker 1 (23:15):
So nine months ago, Andrew Barry got a new contract.
He's been there for now five years. Were you a
proponent of that and the fans okay? Given a guy
with very little success a new contract?

Speaker 3 (23:27):
Right now, the fans are not okay.

Speaker 5 (23:29):
At the time, I was fine with it because it
happened in training camp and they were coming off the
second playoff season in five years and you have to
go back to the nineteen eighties. For the Browns to
have a stretch like that is pathetic as that sounds,
but here in Cleveland that's actually successful. So at the
time I was fine with it. But now that I

(23:50):
look at it at what Barry's acquisitions have done, the
failures that they have been, the lack of wins, consistent
wins that we have seen, the fact that he moves
on from Baker Mayfield, who's lighting it up in Tampa Bay,
to bring into Shaun Watson, who is now on in
a walking boot and is not going to do anything
for you.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
And you gave two hundred and thirty million dollars to
bring in a.

Speaker 5 (24:12):
Guy that had the baggage that he had, right, and
Browns fans were asked to support this guy with what
he was accused of. That's a lot, and it's it's
not very positive, but Brown's ownership has basically I feel
like given Barry a little bit of a mulligan, and
I believe that Andrew Berry is going to get two
years to get the quarterbacks things figured out.

Speaker 2 (24:35):
Well, It's interesting, Darryl, before you go that we're all
talking about the offense for the Browns. But the last
time I checked, your defense had four picks the entire
season last year, which is unbelievable that one a month.
Travis hunder can help one interception a month on this
So you're telling me that he would maybe focus on
wide receiver, but hot damn do they need him on

(24:57):
the defensive side there, Darryl.

Speaker 5 (24:59):
Well, you know in the Browns defense, I got, you
know what I got to stand up for the Browns
DB's Okay, listen, if they could catch the football, stay,
they'd be wide receivers, all right. You know they they
dropped about twelve intersections last year.

Speaker 3 (25:11):
They just couldn't catch them. It wasn't a matter of
being in the right spots. They just they're catching the
football game. Minor detail.

Speaker 1 (25:18):
Hey, one more from me, a basketball question for you.
I know you're following the Cavs right now. Their chances
are winning the East, and why are they closer to
the Celtics than they were last year when they just
got bombed by Boston the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (25:30):
They got DeAndre Hunter now and they also got Ty
Jerome now, so their bench is much deeper. It's a
much more versatile roster than they had a year ago.
And oh, by the way, yeah, everybody's healthy. Knock on wood.
Donovan Mitchell was healthy. Jared Allen, who was injured last year,
he is healthy. Darius Garland is healthy. He actually played

(25:51):
last year's playoffs fifteen pounds underweight. So I feel like
this Cavalier team has the potential to not only take
out the Boston Celtics, they have a legitimate chance to
win the whole thing this year. The window to win
championships for the Cavaliers is open for the next I
would say two to three years. They acquired DeAndre Hunter

(26:12):
from Atlanta. That guy's under contract.

Speaker 3 (26:14):
For two more years.

Speaker 5 (26:15):
The entire core for Mobley, Garland, Mitchell and Allen, they're
all signed long term. So you don't have any infighting
and guys trying to play for the next contract. You're
begging for money from the front office. And that team,
I gotta tell you, going back to the Lebron era,
that was business like. That was a business atmosphere that team.

(26:37):
This team's fun. These guys love each other, they love playing.
We've got the minor league Cleveland Charge, the G League
thing or whatever. The players on their off day, guys
they go to those games to hang out there, but
you never see that. So the chemistry of this team
and the fact that they're healthy and they got DeAndre

(26:58):
Hunter and they got Ty Jerome, I think that that
makes them a legitimate contender for an NBA championship.

Speaker 2 (27:06):
All right, man, great stuff, Good luck to the Browns.
We'll keep an eye on it for you back here
and see. I don't know that you give a damn
but good stuff. As always, Daryl, we appreciate this. We'll
talk soon, man, you bet, thank you? All right, he says,
Travis Hunter is going to be the pick at number
two for the Browns. We'll talk to Pauli Detino by
the way, coming up as well. Find out what the
Giants are doing at number three.

Speaker 1 (27:26):
All right.

Speaker 2 (27:27):
Hugh mellon joins at four Little Fun with Audio next
on ninety three to three KJR FM.

Speaker 4 (27:34):
It's now time for Sunday in Dick's Fun with Audio.

Speaker 2 (27:37):
Jimmy g pawn Star, Jimmy mister Garoppolo.

Speaker 1 (27:41):
Now let's have some fun with audio.

Speaker 2 (27:43):
Alrighty, boys and girls, here we go from the Emerald
Queen Casinos Sportsbook are home away from home on Mondays
and make for a much better commute for me and Dick.

Speaker 1 (27:51):
As well, absolutely, which is phenomenal.

Speaker 2 (27:54):
The boss asked me, do you want to do your
show from Jimmy's next Tuesday?

Speaker 1 (27:57):
Well, duh, kid me. You know what that commute does?
Man doing something that jim means. It's unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
It's amazing the crap you worry about when you're fifty
one years old. All right, here we go a little
fun with audio slash. Hey did you hear that? Hey, Dick,
did you happen to hear that?

Speaker 1 (28:13):
What's that? Dick?

Speaker 2 (28:14):
We start on Friday Nights after the Giants to Nothing
Lost to the Angels picture Logan Webb.

Speaker 1 (28:21):
Now you gotta listen here.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
Okay was distracted from answering a question at his press
conference when one reporter farted loudly.

Speaker 6 (28:31):
A bumgardner and for at least four oddings with I'm sorry,
at least four outings with the pen shakeouts and the
watches in that those guys, I'm sorry sorry.

Speaker 1 (28:45):
Farts are always funny.

Speaker 4 (28:47):
I'm not gonna hie.

Speaker 7 (28:51):
It's it's anytime you're in the list.

Speaker 2 (28:55):
So can you isolate the farts and make it even
louder than it was?

Speaker 1 (28:58):
Because it's kind of hard, kind of hard to notice.
How ready to go? Yeah? Go ahead? Three? Two?

Speaker 3 (29:03):
One?

Speaker 2 (29:08):
Are we sure that was a reporter and not a player?
Because that was loud as.

Speaker 1 (29:12):
Hell for a report.

Speaker 3 (29:13):
He stares.

Speaker 1 (29:14):
He stares, like right off to his left at a
reporter who's clearly standing right there. How embarrassed would you
be if that was you?

Speaker 8 (29:22):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (29:22):
I would question why that just happened, because usually you
can control at least the volume level of that volume.
Is there a knob on your butt? Yeah? Well, what
are you talking about? You could like it? Well you yeah?
I mean you and I have sat next to each

(29:42):
other for years and years and years and years. I
have farted a lot by yes, but you've never like
just ripped one. How do you know that? Because I
haven't heard it. Well, maybe it did, you forget it.
I'm not what I'm saying, like, but when you're by yourself,
you just kind of let it go.

Speaker 2 (29:57):
I don't know, man, I uhl all the volume? That's interesting, Jackson.
Can you control the volume of your flatulence.

Speaker 1 (30:05):
Sometimes but also if you try to contain it and
sometimes it comes out just high pitched?

Speaker 4 (30:11):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (30:12):
And on top of that, you never never, ever at
least at fifty one can trust a fart.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
I can't wait for Jackson to go home tonight, and
Riza says, no, sweetheart, what'd you do at work today? Well,
I amplified a fart on the air. Ladies and gentlemen
one more time.

Speaker 2 (30:32):
Are we sure it was a reporter? Are we positive?
I don't think it was a reporter. I think it
was a teammate of his, because that sounds like something
a baseball player would do. By the way, you know,
baseball players are disgusting more so than any other athlete
out there because they have so much fricking downtime and
they're together every day for six months. My god, Jay
Buner would be happy about that, by the way. He'd

(30:54):
be proud. All right, Hey, Dick, did you happen to
hear last?

Speaker 1 (30:57):
What's that? Dick?

Speaker 2 (30:58):
The Mavericks season ending press conference today, GM Nico Harrison
was asked why he should not be fired by reporter
Isaac Harris of Lockdown MAVs.

Speaker 7 (31:08):
Luca comes back to town, the Lakers games happening, and
you're standing there and there's thousands of people channing for
you to be fired. That's an experience that none of us.
You know, no one's channing for our you know, for
us to lose our jobs. Why why shouldn't you be fired?

Speaker 8 (31:27):
Well, one, I think I've done a really good job here.
Uh And I don't think I can be judged by
the injuries this year. You have to judge from totality,
from beginning to end. And so I think I have
a really good working relationship with Patrick. I think you
had in Rick. The leadership that we have is is

(31:48):
really elite. And you'll see next year when our team
comes back, we're going to be competing for a championship.

Speaker 1 (31:54):
I mean, I think two things can be true. I
think that it was a terrible trade. He deserves to
be ripped. However, did the owner know about it? Did
he sign off on him? He did, Well, then there
you go. That's what he should have said. You fired me?
Oh boy, yeah, that you want to get fired? Well
within ten seconds.

Speaker 2 (32:09):
This is not But this is not a draft day
situation where the owner comes in and says, Sonny, you
son of a bitch, Remember that you wanted to kill
him exactly. He had to the owner of the mask
had to have known he was trading. Luka Doncic had
to have known, so, I mean, I look, I get it,
but when something like that is I love the fact
that he asked the question. I thought he gave a

(32:31):
good answer. Probably was blindsided a bit by the question.
I mean, maybe the guy told him he was going
to ask it, but the owner signed off on this
whole thing. In the end, they're going to fire the
guy if the team doesn't work.

Speaker 1 (32:41):
I mean, it's it's very it's very simple. Nko has
put himself out there and he has said publicly. You
just heard it right there. If they don't compete for
a championship next year, he's gone, because he is. He
has used his one and only excuse card, which was
we were totally injured this year, which is is fair.
They got totally decimated after the Jay.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
How hilarious would it be if both the Lakers and
the Mavericks just fell apart after these deals neither one
of them worked. I know, Lakers are down one game
to none, it's only one game. I mean, they play tomorrow.
Tomorrow is a pretty big game.

Speaker 1 (33:15):
But I don't know.

Speaker 2 (33:16):
I mean, for both these to just fall apart, for
both teams, it'd be unbelievably funny.

Speaker 1 (33:20):
If they If they continue to put luc Man, it's
gonna be a short series. They better, JJ better figure
something out.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
We got time for one more Jackson. Sorry, we're gonna break.
That's okay, No no need to apologize. We're gonna break.
Hugh Millen will join us next little more at four
with you coming up on Draft week, baby, right here
