Speaker 1 (00:00):
We go.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
I just got a text from my neighbor and I
don't understand people. And maybe you guys can shine in
with me here on this topic. That take like hours
to get back to a text message. You and me
Jackson have talked about Dick. He's the absolute worst when
it comes to text messages. The man will take hours.
He'll miss four or five different topics. He'll miss important
stuff or see it. That's because you're not checking your
(00:23):
phone like Hugh. If I send you a text message,
typically maybe at the most ten to fifteen minutes, you'll respond.
I think your text message etiquette, your response time is
actually pretty good. So today, just real quick, I'm outside
doing some yard.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
Work, all right. We have like a community yard area
for a cul de sac.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
And you know, been cutting some stuff down whatever, And
I had to plug in to my neighbor's electricity, and
so I text him are you home? At twelve thirty
He just writes back, yes, I'm home, dude, that was
two and a half hours ago. I mean, what is
wrong with people? Am I the only one that finds
this crazy? In eartating or what, Well, you never know
what a guy's doing. He might be taking a nap.
(01:04):
He might be working out. Oh there are there are
some work out with your phone. Work out with your phone.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
Who works out and does not have their phone with it? Right?
Do you work out without your phone? It's over on
the side of the gym. I mean, I don't. I
don't know. I'm not tethered to it.
Speaker 4 (01:24):
There's there's times I would go two hours without yeah,
seeing it, two hours.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
I don't know, man, I just think I can do that.
In this day and age.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
You gotta be able to respond, man, you gotta be
able to come on, let's get with it. You gotta
be able to respond in a minute's notice and taking
two and a half hours.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
You know what, there's only one thing, only one thing.
Say it. If you're in a movie and that's what
I'm doing tonight, that's it.
Speaker 5 (01:46):
So you should know that between the hours of eight
and eleven PM, you will not hear from me.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
That's it.
Speaker 6 (01:50):
If you're in a movie theater and I don't hear
from you for three hours, I get it, But don't
feed me. There's line of crack that you're working out,
or you're taking a nap, or you're on a zoom call,
you're out of work situation, whatever, Get off your ass
and respond to your freaking text messages.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
Try crazy Bill Belichick.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Hey, if you're gonna make jokes, tell me's gonna be ready.
Speaker 7 (02:17):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
We found out yesterday that Bill Belichick's girlfriend might be
a hooker. By the way, so that we well, I'm sorry,
a call girl. There's no difference. By the way, Jackson,
a lady of the night is being O Cook used
to say back in.
Speaker 4 (02:30):
The day, dorontophiliac. We established that, which is what remind
people what that is. By the way, well, I'm reading
straight out of Miriam Webster's quote. Such a sex attraction
towards old persons. That's word for work.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
Starting to show us today, unbelievable. Hey how about those Marris?
Speaker 7 (02:47):
Yeah you told me.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
Yeah, this feels like in in planes, trains, automobiles. About
those bears all right? Yeah, good game last night. Those
aren't pillows all right? Anyway, Tory and Long, who is
the secondary coach for South Carolina, is going to join
us next segment in about twenty minutes from now.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
We'll get his thoughts on Nicki Minwari.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
He obviously coached a cam chancellor as well at Virginia Tech.
Back in the day, so he would have some real
great insight on what kind of game this guy provides.
It would be able to compare it to what he
saw from Cam when he was in school. But before
we get to all that, Mariner's day off today, a
well deserved day off after a nine to three win
against the Anaheim Angels yesterday in Anaheim. The road trip
(03:31):
continues with Texas and then onto Oakland. And guys, look,
I mean, I know we talked about this a lot,
especially late in the year. Jackson knows this September, late August, whatever,
Is it too early to be looking at the Baseball
Reference playoff odds? By the way, is it too early
for that, because you remember there was a time last year.
(03:54):
I know that there was a time last year where
the Mariners were way up in the percentages, even late
in August early September, and they blew it and they
did not make the playoffs. So is it too early,
Hugh Millen and Jackson felts to be referencing the Baseball
Reference Mariner playoff odds.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
You're telling me, sure, sure, let's let's have more to
make the playoffs. You know, there's a certain symbolism to
year where there are ten games up, right, longest game
day of the year, the sunniest outlook for the Mariners.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
Longest day of my year.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
And by the way, I know who you're going with
this with the whole tony soprano cigar thing. Can I
explain myself for a Secondez, because I can see your brain,
your levels, and your your gears are churning there. And
the fact that these guys, mainly Dick, who's not here
to defend himself, never stepped up and defended me still
pisses me off today. I that was never a proclamation
about the division being over Ever, the only proclamation I
(04:59):
was made there.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
Don't give me that crap eating look.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
The only proclamation I was making there, Hugh was being
right about making the call that at some point in
time the Mariners would be ten games up on first place.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
That's all it was.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
And nobody here defending me, including you, by the way,
still pisses me off.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
To slight.
Speaker 5 (05:17):
There was some slight wording in the tweet, Softy, there
was some slight wording in the what was the wording?
So the wording lended itself to the Mariners would be
there later.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
On, not at that moment, all I said is they're
going to run away with the division yea, and they're
gonna be ten games up on first place. And at
that point in time, they had run away with the
division and they were ten games up on the first
PLA for freaking the Mariner's cougaring it the rest of
the way.
Speaker 4 (05:43):
Okay, is this some kind of magic show, like like
you're trying to take the dub on that one.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
No, I'm just explaining myself. And you were smoking cigars.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
In June in the four o'clock hour, I'll be eating
a banana and an apple and craping a fruit salad.
That's my next trick. So I mean, are we buying this, guys?
Speaker 3 (06:01):
Honestly?
Speaker 2 (06:02):
Are we buying that this is a baseball team that
we feel ninety four percent is going to be a
playoff team?
Speaker 3 (06:06):
Are you buying that right now?
Speaker 4 (06:08):
I'm not buying anything because I went through June twenty first,
and I was a May and a fan in nineteen
seventy seven. Here here's what I've got my mind on.
Is the most important thing that's happening. Look, Polanco, it's fantastic.
I don't know if he can keep it up. But
this guy's thirty one years old. He's had nine hundred
and seventy two games over four thousand played appearances. I'll
(06:30):
tell you what I'm excited about is Emerson Hancock because
this guy has a very, very high ceiling. We know
that Depoto has proven that he can find guys, so
you almost feel like your default is if Depoto has
found him and he and he has a pretty high
reasonable blue sky, there's something to be excited about. And
(06:53):
you just look at his splits from this year. Okay,
he started the Detroit game. I mean he came out
when do you ever see this? After one game he
had an ERA of eighty one point zero, not eight
point one zero eighty one.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
That's what happens when you get yanked in the first inning,
of course, of course it is.
Speaker 4 (07:10):
Yeah, so he had to point two of inning bits, right,
But he had another quality start. That's two in a row,
and then the time before that was almost a quality start.
I mean, if six innings, three three runs or less
as a quality start three times ago. He had five innings,
(07:31):
two earned runs, so he didn't quite hit that threshold.
But I don't know, I feel like if this guy
you know, is at age twenty six, what we think
he could be. I think that was the most important
thing from yesterday. Is just kind of a further I
(07:53):
don't say improvement, but further. You know, he's got nineteen
starts in his whole damn career. So to me, every
time this kid takes, you know, as a fraction, we
just think about mathematically, as a fraction of his career.
Every time we see Hancock put his foot on that mound,
(08:14):
it's really important because we look, we're learning more about
him than we learn about anybody else on the team
because he's so young.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
Well, they're five and two in games that are started
by Hancock, the knockoff Castillo and Logan Evans, which is great.
I mean you would have taken five and two in
games started by George Kirby and Logan Gilbert. But look,
I mean, Luis Castillo's got three more years left in
his contract. The only about seventy five million. There's a
vesting option for twenty eight that depends on how much
(08:42):
time he spends off of the injured list between now
in twenty twenty seven. So if he stays healthy, he's
going to get the twenty five million. I mean, Castillo
has been fine. I mean, you know, for a back end,
at least on paper with this rotation starter Jackson, Luis
Castillo has been great. As the teams Oliver Baseball love
to have Luis Castillo not to knockoff the original on
(09:03):
the back end of the rotation.
Speaker 5 (09:05):
And really, if there's one reason why you can believe
in the ninety four percent, is because we haven't gotten
what we should out of the pitching staff yet and
the belief that eventually this pitching staff will turn back
into what we've seen the last couple of years.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
The question for me is just the offense.
Speaker 5 (09:20):
The offense is kicking ass right now there, as hot
as they've been in years, and I just don't know
if they can put together another month, months, three months,
four months, Yeah, like this. And that's that's why I'm
as much as I'm back in on this team.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
I just can't believe.
Speaker 5 (09:34):
And it can't look at any statistics or standings or projections.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Yet well, being on pace to end up third and
baseball and run scored based on last year's number is ludicrous.
I mean, that's not what this team is gonna do.
But can they be tenth Can they be twelfth? Yeah,
they were twenty first a year ago. Can they be
top half in baseball? So I think that's what we've
seen that this team is potentially capable of doing. You know,
I'm going to ask you about Gray's abel to you
(09:59):
later on today. Do you feel like Grey's abel is
at least maybe Look, he's not gonna be Steve Lutchinson
saying this guy is gonna be a Hall of Fame
left guard, crazy idiotic expectations. But can he be the
starting guard for the next five years, for the next
six to seven years. Can he be a guy that
gets a second contract from the Seahawks? Can he settle
down that revolving door at left guard? That's the question.
(10:21):
And with the Mariners, Hey, they may not be third
in baseball and run scored, but can they be adequate?
Speaker 3 (10:27):
Can they be top half? Can they be top ten?
Speaker 2 (10:29):
If they are, if this pitching staff does turn itself around,
that's gonna be good enough to not just win this division,
but maybe make a run. Come October, We're gonna break
Torrian Gray Nicki man Ware's position coach at South Carolina.
Buckle up, we're talking to him next. On ninety three
three kJ Aarfmad.
Speaker 8 (10:48):
Casting live from the R and R Foundation Specialist broadcast studio.
Now back to SAFTI and Digg powered by Emerald Queen Casino,
the Betty and Capital of the Northwest on Sports.
Speaker 3 (10:59):
Radio and nintiese kJ R FL. All right, we're back
on a busy Thursday afternoon. Hum milling in for Nick Faane.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
Right here, Tory and Gray, who is the secondary coach
at NC State excuse me, NC State South Carolina, will
join us in a matter of minutes. He coached Nicki
man Wari, the newest member of the Seahawks secondary safety
at South Carolina, was also the head the secondary coach
excuse me at Virginia Tech with Cam Chancellor. We'll get
(11:28):
to him in a matter of minutes. I'm curious, Hugh,
what you're curious about with Tory and Gray when he
jumps on the radio show, because a lot of people
have made the comparison between Emon Warry and Cam Chancellor. Yeah,
and I'm not sure if that's appropriate or not. How
about your take on that? Well, I am curious about that.
I mean I studied Emon Warry a lot, and then
(11:49):
when he got.
Speaker 3 (11:50):
Drafted by the Seahawks.
Speaker 4 (11:51):
I studied him even more, and look, there's a lot
to love him bottom, his site, his length, as tackling ability,
is strength, his makeup speed when he's out of position.
I would just say, as far as the cam Chancellor piece,
and and I don't know, I'll kind of I'll have
to kind of see the vibe from him, because I
(12:12):
don't want to tick him off. But one of the
things I might ask him is is, look, I expected
a little bit more violence when I watched the tape
from Emon Worry, you know, and just I I expected
to see maybe a handful of just KOs just like
dislodge the ball or you know, a running back, you know,
(12:34):
kind of the way remember Chancellor and the the Super
Bowl when he when he that shallow cross, who do
he hit with Marus Thomas Thomas knock knocked him, literally
knocked him four yards back. If you think that's an exaggeration,
watch the tape and count the yards. So there was
just yeah, yeah, exactly. So I was expecting that there'd
(12:54):
be giving his size and his speed, I expected there
to be just a little bit more evident of just raw,
unfettered violence on a half a dozen plays, you know, which,
by the way, when opponents watch it on tape, they
see that and wait, run that back. I want to
see that play again, you know, the type of thing.
(13:16):
And so I thought that i'd see a little bit more.
You know, he's kind of diving load Dave, like like
if I wanted to come knock you out or you
knocked me out right, And obviously he can't punch because
we're wearing football helmets. But if you had to go
through through me to try and really send a message,
you go right through my chest, right, you'd go through
(13:37):
my tour. If you come down at my my you know,
my knees are my calves. You might get me on
the ground, but you're not trying to send a message.
I just thought there was a little bit more message
sending that we could have seen. So I may ask
him if I feel like he's up for the question. Well,
I mean, whether fair unfair.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
There's going to be comparisons to Cam for a couple
of reasons, because Cam's name was brought up by him,
I believe, during the press conference after he was drafted
in the second round in his position coach coach Cam
at Virginia Tech. So there's going to be those comparisons
with Cam Chanceller, whether it's fair or unfair, and if
he can even just be, like we said earlier, a
reasonable facsimile of Cam Chancellor. The Hawks are in for
(14:16):
something pretty sweet. Well, let's get to that right now,
because joining us on the radio show the position coach
for Nick emn Wari, the secondary coach at South Carolina
Tory and Gray, is with us. Calligan from Columbia South
Carolina live right here on ninety three three KJRFM coach.
Speaker 3 (14:32):
At Softy and former NFL quarterback Hu Mellon. How are
you man?
Speaker 1 (14:36):
I'm doing great?
Speaker 3 (14:36):
How you got good? Good? It's great to have you
on the radio show.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
Man.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
So a lot of us did not know a lot
about Nick until he got drafted by the Seahawks on Friday.
So why don't you, first of all just give us
the view from thirty five thousand feet When you hear
the name Nick e man Wari, what goes through your mind?
Tell us about the player and the person that we're
getting up here in Seattle.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
The player you're getting, I'll tell you back when I
was coaching at Virginia Tech. You guys are all familiar with
Cam Chancellor. So I coached Camp Chancellor at Virginia Tech.
And when I were recruiting Nick, even when we're out
of high school, I'm like, man, you only get a
cam Chancellor probably once in your career at that size,
and you know that that's actually a defensive back. And
(15:23):
and then then I'm I get to South Carolina and
Nick even Worriy comes to Campa. He's playing linebacker, and
he runs this crazy forty time and he's doing all
these amazing numbers and and he's working out at linebacker.
I didn't even work him out at the camp. And
then I was like, man, with that forty time, man,
I just want to batpel him and see if he
can play dB. So I batpedaled him once and he
(15:45):
turned caught the ball and I'm like, no, there's no
way this guy is socked can be a defensive back.
I'm like, that's all I need to see, just one rep.
And so you're getting a generational type guy as far
as a body type. And it's not like back in
nineteen eighty two with your with your fooltures and and
and those big faties that used to have. They used
to just play down at it, which which you know,
(16:08):
he's a different breed, you know, like I say, it's
Cam Chancellor, and he's justly faster, same size and all
those things. The type of person you're get in is
a is a fun loving, very charismatic, charismic, charismatic.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
Individual.
Speaker 8 (16:24):
Man.
Speaker 1 (16:24):
He loves to have fun. But when Nick flips the
switch and and it's time to get serious with football,
that's that's what Nick's able to concentrate in and hone
in and do well.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
You talked about the comparison there. You're You're the You're
the guy that everybody wants to hear from. So make
the comparison. That's who you thought he'd be, Cam chancesor
as you recruited him. Now tell us after you've coached him,
you've coached him both tell us ways where you say, man,
they're almost identical in this way. But then give us
(16:57):
a couple of attributes where you think that emun Worri
is is clearly different than Cam Chancellor.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
I'll tell you from a football competitiveness standpoint, playing physical standpoint,
and football like you standpoint, they're very very similar. And
so I'm y'all, you're not gonna catch me saying what
Cam's gonna get pissed at me and be like, hey, man,
Nick is better than Cam, or Cam is better than Nick.
But I can say that Nick, they're the same guy,
(17:29):
with Nick having more explosive forty speed, more explosive vertical speed,
vertical jump speed, which the numbers that to come by
says those things. But honestly, other than that, man very
very similar attributes and in a lot of respects.
Speaker 4 (17:45):
We're visiting with Tory and Gray who coached Emon Worrie
in college, and as well as Cam Chancellor and coach
I'm gonna share with you in the observation I made
and then you speak freely in your response. And I
watched every tackle for for Nick this this season, and
I went in kind of because Cam Chancer. I don't
(18:08):
wear players jerseys to games, but if I had to,
I'd wear thirty one to a Seahawk game.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
That's what I think of Cam Chancellor.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
Uh uh.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
I was expecting just.
Speaker 4 (18:19):
A wee bit more violence from Emon from Nick in
the sense of like when Cam Chancellor, when when a
running back would come back I'm talking about his Sea
Seahawk days, Chancer would take him up in the through
his chest. You know, eyes up and he was looking
to make an enforcement hit. There was a couple there
(18:40):
was a few times where I was expecting that kind
of of hit from Nick and he went a little lower,
a little lower on the legs.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
You know that.
Speaker 4 (18:48):
Then I was expecting a little more violence. Now, is
my expectation unreasonable or or or just kind of common
in that regard.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
It alone? Your if your expectations were high, then then
I can't argue with with that part. And and and
if that's because I didn't get to watch Cam on
the on the pro level, I know he would to
capitate the capitate you. But I've seen Nick from a
freshman do some things. His first tackle as a freshman,
it was a fourth and one play and he hit
(19:18):
this running back at the line and and the guy
didn't go forward, and he stopped him. And I've seen
Nick versus Georgia, maybe not last year film, but I
mean hit guys and just just like wow, man, it's
you know, this dude shouldn't be this physical or whatnot.
So it's in there. If it didn't happen last year,
I'm telling you it's in there. And and I know
(19:39):
how special Cam was in that department. But Nick doesn't
lack for those things. And if he feels short off
some of those type of store sorts on some of
your expectations. And I can't argue with your observation, but
I've seen I know it's in there. You know, I'm
just saying I know it's in there.
Speaker 3 (19:51):
Well, Nick.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
Even Warrey's position coach at South Carolina, Torrian Gray, is
with us on on the radio show. And you know, again,
when he gets drafted, coach, you just go right to
the combined results and see that he just crushed the combine.
He was like number one in every major category except
for the forty and I think he may have been
number two in that in that in that category at
the combine. So what is it that that you think
(20:15):
really physically sets him apart? Is it his speed? Is
it his ability to cut? Is it his quickness, his footwork,
his eyes, his hands, his his tackling ability. What is
it specifically about his game that you think attracted the
Seahawks enough to make him a second round pick?
Speaker 1 (20:35):
Oh, the Seahawks are smarter than a lot of teams.
I give them credit for, Dad. And And what I
mean is like when people see your six three two
and twenty plus pound guy. The natural tendency is to say, oh,
he's a box guy. And I hear guys and I've
seen some of the commentaries out there, and you know
(20:57):
Nick Statan says it on on the damn Draft. They oh, yeah,
he's a good box safety. Well, you haven't watched Nick,
because he's more than a box safety. He can play football.
He can play away from the ball. And some of
the interceptions he made this interception she made it against
Kentucky as a junior, the interception he made against Clemson
as a junior. No other safety in the country can
make those type of plays. So he's got some wow
(21:21):
factorability and can make plays on the ball better than
you give him credit for. And for the numbers he
put up at the combine. And like I said, I
think to see I just will say the Seahawks are
a lot smarter than than a lot of other teams.
I love that making them what they took it.
Speaker 2 (21:36):
Just going back on the Cam chance or comparison and
the fact that you coach both these guys.
Speaker 3 (21:41):
Do you know if Cam and Nick have ever spoken?
Have you ever connected these two together?
Speaker 1 (21:46):
Nah? No, I haven't. I haven't. I don't know if
they've spoken since he's gotten drafted or whatnot, but I've
never connected them together. My my, my biggest compliment I
always gave nickas man, you remind me of Cam and
and you know I could say it. You know, he's
just got got some more speed and those type of
attributes than Yeah, those are great difference.
Speaker 4 (22:08):
Yeah, excuse me, Yeah, those are great traits to have.
I want to compare Nick to another safety. As you know,
Mike McDonald had been the defensive coordinator with the Baltimore Ravens.
They drafted a safety out of Notre Dame Kyle Hamilton.
Now Hamilton might be, if anything, a little taller at six',
four not nearly the athlete That nick, was but you,
(22:30):
know a span uh and the ninety eight. Percentile so
we we here In seattle are, saying, okay, uh there
is there aspects Of hamilton's game that we see in
him and. Worry you, know things like the ability to
on third and medium to play a tight. End he's
got the length to play a tight, end man and,
man those type of, things the length and what have, you,
(22:51):
uh to the extent that you can, comment do you
see Maybe nick fitting in as all around jack of
all trades play maker the Way Kyle hamilton did with The.
Speaker 1 (23:02):
Ravens, okay so in on, FAIRNESS i didn't See Kyle
hamilton play At Notre, day AND i hadn't seen him
play with The Baltimore. Ravens BUT i can speak On nick's.
ASSETS i could when you put a receiver in a. Slot,
NOW i know the pro in the college game is
gonna be different as far as the guys they'd be
(23:24):
going on, once BUT i felt very confident With nick
on a wide receiver in a in a college game
in a slot from a press from a press. Material
SO i would think if those guys are asking him
to cover tight, ends as long as he's playing with
great technique and, LEVITCH i WOULD i would, say he,
would you, know do a do a great job in
that respect and give coaches the flexibility to put him
(23:46):
in those. Situations in.
Speaker 4 (23:47):
Excel, so if you were going to play man to
man and and now you got one play to win the,
game all, right and you know and you know you're
gonna play, man would you rather Have nick lined up
on the tight end on a big, receiver small receiver
just just just where do you feel more comfortable he'd
get the win and.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
WHY i feel very confident he's on a tight. End
now if his, technique if he's confidence in his, technique
you know he'll he'll have a chance against a big
receiver because obviously he's got the linked and if his
technique is, correct he'll have he'll have a great chance
to make a play on the. Ball, now if his
techniques is, inconsistent because you, know, uh when you're talking
(24:30):
about the margin era against guys on that, level, yeah
he's gonna get gonna lose to AN nfl wide. Receiver
so you, know if he's in the right headspace with
his technique and it's, FUNDAMENTALS i would like his chances
against a wide, out a, taller bigger wide out who's
probably not going to be crazy shifty away from. HIM
i do like his chances, there and LIKE i, say tight,
END i think that should definitely be something that he
(24:51):
should be able to to win the majority of those.
Speaker 3 (24:54):
BATTLES i love it.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
WELL a couple more minutes with Uh Torrian, gray who
IS nicki Man warre's position coach At South carolina SAFETY
a The seahawks got in the second. Round so you,
know there's a there's kind of this laundry list of
standard questions we like to ask coaches and draft picks
after they get selected coach by The, seahawks and one
of them, is, hey, look you want to have a
long career in THE. Nfl, right we Want nick to
(25:16):
have a long ten, year decade plus career in THE,
nfl get a second, contract get a third, contract and
be A seahawk for. Life so to do, THAT i,
mean you know his strengths and you know his. Weaknesses
what would you tell him in a private, Moment, hey,
man you want to survive in THE, nfl these are
the things that you've got to start working on and
get better at.
Speaker 3 (25:35):
Tonight nico played ten.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
Years if he does not get content or if he
doesn't think he's making it like always be, green if
he's always green and, Growing nickel played for a long.
Time If nick gets content and just rest upon his,
lowells like anybody with great, talent you're not going to get,
better and you're going to leave yourself to set to
not maximize that talented the amount of years that he
(26:03):
could play on the next. Level so was there just
stay green and in all, RESPECTS i would, say.
Speaker 3 (26:09):
Well stay.
Speaker 4 (26:10):
Green that is an Awesome Now i've never heard. That
i'm Gonna i'm gonna steal that from. You but was
there ever a time where you thought you had to
give him a little? Proud was there ever a time
where you thought he was getting a little too?
Speaker 1 (26:19):
Content oh, yeah there's there's a time period that that he.
HAD i would say sophomore year as a Freshman All.
American then sophomore, year there was a time frame WHERE
i thought we got away from some of our fundamentals
and being disciplined on some of the, things and you
give up some. Plays and then if you're honest enough
to have the conversation with, him and he responded the right.
(26:41):
Way he finished the SEASON i think with about four
or five just really really solid, games and he carried
that into his junior year and he really didn't have
a bad. Game i'm talking about overall his junior. Year
and and, honestly go back and when you watch those
miss those tackles you were, saying you say you watched every.
TACKLE i think he missed less than three tackles all.
(27:03):
Year But i'm talking about this from a game. Spad
if he really didn't have a bad. Gay you, know
everyone has bad plays here and, there but he never
had a bad. Game and that really started with after
he got you, KNOW i would say humbled or you, know,
HEY i have to do and be locked in all the.
TIME i have to do my fundamentals all the. Time
and once he took that maturity, step that's kind of
(27:24):
what led him to have the type of year he.
Speaker 3 (27:26):
Had, yeah, Well tory And, gray, coach this is, awesome.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
Man we really appreciate you doing, this AND i assume
that from a pro level, Perspective Cam chancellor might be
your most prized pupil you've ever. Coached and who, knows
maybe one day we'll be coming back here saying, nope
he's number two Because nick Emn warre is now number.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
One so we'd all love that, man great.
Speaker 2 (27:45):
Stuff appreciate your insight and jumping on the air with,
us man and we'll talk down the, road. Buddy thanks, Pal,
okay thank, you you got? It you, bet, Coach tory And?
Gray how about? That the secondary coach For South carolina
with a few thoughts On nick Emun Wari, man what'd
you make of what you heard?
Speaker 4 (28:01):
There, WELL i think he's a feisty. GUY i could
see how he could could put a cattle proud into a.
Player and he's got he's got his, vision HE'S i
think that he probably coached with honesty right With nick
and With cam, pryor SO i see why he's a
valued secondary.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
Coach, well what he just said there about stay, green,
RIGHT i think different coaches have different ways of saying
the same. Thing Like Chris peterson would always telling. Me
the coaches would come out or players would come up
to him and, say, hey, COACH i got, this And
chris would, say, no you don't have this at. All
so the idea that you're always, motivated that you're never,
content you're never resting on your, laurels and always trying
(28:39):
to get, better and always angry and always pissed.
Speaker 3 (28:41):
OFF i love that, man so especially at that.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
Position by the, WAY i love That we're gonna break
a little fun with audio coming, next and Then Brett

stakes of the game will.
Speaker 3 (29:45):
Be you, know we're gonna play three.
Speaker 9 (29:47):
Quarters we're gonna play a first quarter or second, quarter
and then a fourth. Quarter because we want the game
to be about an hour and forty five. Minutes we
split the team up in half so you know at
the starting left tackles on one, team the starting left
guard is on the other. Team we have it split
in ways that our coaches are split in half or
(30:08):
building split in. Half winners are gonna have falais and
salmon and, shrimp and losers are gonna have beans and.
Rice there's gonna be some competition, involved AND i just
want to see our kids go out there and.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
Perform by the, way they have since changed that it
will be a four quarter game tomorrow, night but the,
length the overall duration of the game will be the.
Speaker 3 (30:29):
Same but they are.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
Gonna running clock, maybe, yes, Yeah they're gonna have a
running clock throughout except for under two minutes and a,
half by the, way is What i'm being.
Speaker 3 (30:37):
Told so that's what's happening tomorrow over at You.
Speaker 2 (30:39):
Dub but you, know speaking of that about what's on the,
line you, know filet mignon for the winner and.
Speaker 3 (30:45):
Beans and rice for the.
Speaker 2 (30:46):
Loser, yes have you guys heard what they provide now
at the training table for the players over there AT
Dub evidently. Ridiculous, dude it is. RIDICULOUS i Mean El
Gaucho cater's that.
Speaker 3 (30:59):

year and eighteen year olds are getting.
Speaker 3 (31:19):
Tomahawks are you kidding?
Speaker 4 (31:21):
Me, Well i'll tell you WHAT i. Like the competition
and how he's doing. That that's there were some similarities
to the way it played out With Don James. Now
prior To Mark bruneill tearing his knee up in the spring.
Game back in our, day there was no red jerseys
on the.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
Quarterbacks we were.
Speaker 4 (31:39):
Alive in, Fact dave true, Story the hardest HIT i
ever took as A husky in a game or practice
was in a spring. Game, wow red small got up
underneath my chin AND i was parallel to the Oh.
Man the hardest HIT i ever took in college football
ye in the.
Speaker 2 (31:56):
Spring funny Because jackson AND i have been wondering for
years what happened to Your now we Know Wall so,
yeah there you, go.

Speaker 7 (32:10):

Speaker 2 (32:10):
Dick after The lakers were? ELIMINATED i know this brings
music to your. Ears Man from THE nba playoffs, Yesterday
Kendrick perkins Joining SportsCenter With Scott Van pelt and Ripped
lakers head COACH Jj Reckett reddick for the.
Speaker 3 (32:28):
Loss what role Did reddick's plan play in what happened this? Evening, Perk,
Hey I'M Jj.
Speaker 7 (32:35):
RIDDY i know basketball more than anybody in the. World
i'm going to stick with this small ball line, up
no matter how big The Minnesota timberwolves. Are i'm going
to do it my way BECAUSE i only care about.
Offense forget the fact that they Have rudy And Julius
randall has been punishing us in the. PAINT j McDaniels
(32:57):
has been going off in this. Series i'm going to
stick with a funy old Lebroad james play in the center. Position,
scott it was. RIDICULOUS i never want to do this
and blame a series on one, individual BUT i have
to blame this series ON Jj.
Speaker 2 (33:13):
Riddy, Well i'll tell you, what, man there's a story
that came out that before the game last, Night Reggie,
miller who was on the broadcast call FOR, tnt was
doing a pregame interview WITH Jj reddick and he had
to actually calm him down that he was just all
worked up and talking all kinds of smack and running
his mouth and getting all frantic about. Stuff and this
is a broadcaster who's a former, player mind. You so
(33:36):
a little bit of a different story TELLING Jj reddick
to relax before the game, yesterday and THEN la goes
out and gets beat By minnesota and their season comes
to an.
Speaker 4 (33:44):
End SO i just don't know how your first coaching
job ever is the coach of The Los Angeles. Lakers
that's just seems like a really, bold unnecessary.
Speaker 3 (33:54):
MOVE i, LIKE Jj, REDDICK i think you got a
little bit. Wrong for.
Speaker 4 (33:58):
Me it's Ding, dong The witch Is, dead and it's
and The. Witches, Lebron, james anybody But? Lebron how do
you get it?

all these recording devices that are being found all over
the place right, now we had a recording. Device you
don't even know, this, you we had a recording device
in your house last. Night hearing, you hearing you singing
in the shower after no after The laker. Game this

Speaker 2 (34:41):
Reasons you guys should get together and get a.
Speaker 3 (34:44):
Room that two of.
Speaker 4 (34:44):
You he hates The, lakers then, yes, JEEZ i WILL
i will sing sing along with The.
Speaker 3 (34:54):
Hey, Mark Hey, hugh did you happen to hear? That
what's that?
Speaker 2 (34:57):

angry with his Teammate Austin sindric for not helping him

Him he's On.
Speaker 2 (35:40):

Somewhere fox has the. Broadcast they have access to all
of these microphones that are being used to communicate between
driver and pit.
Speaker 3 (35:49):

Man so That's i'm. Confused that was the? Driver that
was the.
Speaker 2 (35:58):
Driver, yes he was in his car and he was
ripping another teammate for not helping him win a stage
of the race At.
Speaker 3 (36:04):
Talladega.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
UH nascar races are divided into into typically three correct,
yes so he needed some teamwork from his from his
from his.
Speaker 3 (36:12):
Teammate.
Speaker 4 (36:13):
THERE i don't have anything about this. Stuff so is
the other car is supposed to get in the way
of the? Guards you're missing the point.
Speaker 3 (36:19):
View that's. Irrelevant.

Okay the, details the details of what he was angry
about and how the racing business, works let's put those
over here for a.
Speaker 4 (36:27):
Second, david you can have thoughts in my head at
the same. Time, Okay BUT i get your. Point was
the fun, Audio, yes But i'm separate from. That i'm
curious as to what spawned.

Speaker 5 (37:02):
It?
Speaker 3 (37:02):
Ever a story where somebody over.
Speaker 4 (37:03):
Her REVIEW i Ripped Shannon sharp sever the field one
time somewhere, Continue, yeah and what? Happened tell us, Listen
i'm playing a game and it was like third and
long AND i AND i hit a dig ROUTE i,

Got we just got eighteen yards on third and, FIFTEEN i,
said AND i just, said shut the hell. Up you
say that one more, time you will not get the
ball again the.
Speaker 3 (37:36):
Rest of the. Game you said this To Shannon? Sharp,
ABSOLUTELY i said that to.
Speaker 4 (37:40):
Him, yeah because it was like early in the second,
quarter and AND i JUST i just told, him shut
the hell, up come at me, again and you won't
see the ball the rest of the.
Speaker 3 (37:51):

Wasn't friend.
Speaker 10 (37:53):
Small, well here's, HONESTLY i Will i'll say this, HONESTLY
i THINK i think in those type of, Situations shannon
appreciated that that THAT.
Speaker 4 (38:06):
I stood up to him because he knows THAT i was.
Right and from that point on he was great and
he got he got the he he got THE i
know in that that game he wanted to get over
a thousand yards for the first time in his, career
and he was just really edgy about getting a thousand.
Yards AND i, Said, shannon, Well i'll get you your thousand.
Yards i'll get you your thousand. Yards so he was
(38:26):
really edgy about. It we got him a thousand. Yards
but but but, yet.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
Yeah Well Brett, boone WHO i guarantee is never talk
like that to a teammate. Ever, yeah they'll join us
next on ninety three three kJ R F m
