Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, our Friday bracket. Here we go.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
We have reached that point of the of the week
where it's time to talk brackets.
Speaker 1 (00:05):
I think we need an open for this. By the way, Jackson,
we definitely do. Yeah, we're doing this every Friday. Then
what the hell?
Speaker 2 (00:11):
I think anything we do consistently and most of the
stuff we do consistently is not consistently good.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
This is good. We need to freaking open for this.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
So we were going to do like the most painful
either moment or potential moment in Seattle sports history. That
would have made sense that if the thunder had won
less right, right, but they did not.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
They lost. So all of a sudden, now we're all
Nugget fans.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
So I got us thinking about, okay, why don't we
just pick then our favorite non Seattle sports moment of
all time. And this is a little bit different from
your favorite non Seattle sports team, because really the reason
why we liked that team is for what they accomplished
at the end of the year correct or what they
accomplished at some point of the year to help us
(00:52):
out as Seattle sports fans. And you know, look, we
can all talk about like our favorite non Seattle sports
team that had nothing to do with Seattle. Like, this
isn't about Oregon getting knocked out, or Gonzaga or the
Yankees or the forty nine ers. Like growing up, I
was a big Michigan fan. My parents went to Michigan.
That eighty nine Michigan team that came to Seattle, Dick
(01:12):
and won the Final four over PJ By the way,
he was just out with us half an hour ago.
I love that team, That Braves team with Francisco Cabrera
that beat Pittsburgh.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
With that game winning heat a hit. I like that team.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
So that's not what we're talking about here, right, We're
not doing that, that's right.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
That's right.
Speaker 4 (01:28):
We were just looking at what made us, what made
us smile, what games made us smile, and for obvious reasons.
And there's gonna be a lot of forty nine ers,
there's gonna be a lot of Oregon s. Yeah, and
there's gonna be a lot of OKC involved in the
Spraten because those are our most teams.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
Yes, who did us the biggest favor?
Speaker 2 (01:48):
Right, our favorite non Seattle sports moments of all time.
So Jackson's got actually he's dressed it up with some
highlights and some audio.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
How about this?
Speaker 5 (01:56):
He works very fun.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
He did for first time all month. He's done some work.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
We do start off with the eighth seed and I'm
not sure I may have made this a little higher myself,
but whatever. The number eight seed, Ohio State whipping Oregon's
ass in this year's Rose bull taking the.
Speaker 6 (02:13):
Junkins again, and there is Smith Well. They three frank
to Taco. Ohio State stikes quickly from forty five yards
off the fake down the middle, come in, Shrid, I'm
go come touchdown, but guy's on fire.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
Chevan Henderson is loose.
Speaker 7 (02:30):
Down the sidelines, hold under the end zone.
Speaker 6 (02:33):
It's a Crimson avalanche here at Pasadena.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
The number seven seed North Carolina tar Heels in twenty seventeen,
Denine Dick's beloved Gonzaga Bulldogs the national championship.
Speaker 7 (02:49):
Un't fortunate if you're goush comes in loot by Meeks
Puna behead the.
Speaker 8 (02:55):
Jackson in tucks in town for the five point lead.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
And this year the confetti.
Speaker 6 (03:02):
Is gonna fall for North Carolina.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
They're not gonna be to night.
Speaker 9 (03:05):
At this time.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
Nine Williams Bross the number sixth seed, The number six.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
Seed, shot Ohio.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
State over Oregon in the first ever college football final
in twenty fourteen.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
He's got it. A County Elliott.
Speaker 6 (03:24):
Touchdown Ohio State on the final player of the quarter.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
First Elliot again, Farrells and millions.
Speaker 6 (03:32):
Touch the eye of this national championship.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
Win the number five seed in our bracket today. The
Kansas City Chiefs beating the forty nine ers and the
Niners pissing away a ten point lead in Super Bowl fifteen.
Speaker 10 (03:50):
Very simply, if they pick up the first down, the
Chiefs are gonna win the Super Bowl. High formation Sherman
lead player's Damian Williams against the edge Asia he runs
for a first down. Damian Williams will run all the
way in for a Kansas City touchdown. That's a shame, obviously,
extremely difficult though they were so close, so close.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
Can you feel it now? God? That gonna where those
drops came from.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
The number four seed, the Baltimore Ravens and Joe Flacco
beating the forty nine Ers in Super Bowl forty seven.
Speaker 5 (04:26):
So this could be a run back from nineteen for
Jakobe Jones.
Speaker 8 (04:30):
And look at him, go Chard says, past the fifty
and he is crying inside the twenty they had a
kickoff return one hundred and nine yards and a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Who all time record?
Speaker 5 (04:44):
The never ending now the never ending super Bowl? Remember
where you were for that game, Dave.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
I don'ts remind me Vegas? Oh God, andal A Bay remember.
Speaker 4 (04:53):
No, Yes, we had those sales parties for the Super
Bowl background.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
I must have had too many cocktails on that threat.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
The lights went out there, like, what are we gonna do?
Speaker 4 (05:01):
I guess we're going back to the casino for an hour,
all the while we wait till.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
This game has start again.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
How about the number three seed, Cam Newton.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
As much hate as Cam Newton gets, there is always
gonna be a soft spot in our heart for the
two thy ten Auburn team that knocked out Oregon and
the nosepicker Darren Thomas in twenty eleven now offered.
Speaker 9 (05:22):
Stuff a little bit.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
Tire.
Speaker 11 (05:26):
The freshman is wrestled down at the forty six yard line.
Speaker 9 (05:30):
Plunge it. Enemy gets back up, Tyer gets back up?
Was he not on the ground? Will you stay on
top of pluge at the dungeons saying, wait a minute,
he went.
Speaker 11 (05:39):
Down, but everybody is moving up there.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
So we have three Oregon games in two Niner games
so far is all right?
Speaker 1 (05:47):
Okay, all right? How about the number two seed, Dame
Lillard and the shot heard around the world that knocked
out the Thunder in twenty nineteen, tied.
Speaker 7 (05:57):
At one fifteen Proun Rinthan to the feet, George roll
to Ben Lillard, spread floor Lillard with forty seven to nine,
working it.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
Down to two to one, A deep three.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
What Blazers when the series I walk off, very problem,
the fly away, the Blazers winning.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
God, I was hoping you'd play the collaboro version. Good on,
good on you. And speaking of the Thunder.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
As much as Lebron James sometimes bothers a lot of people,
as much as sometimes he's a little bit obnoxious, as
much as sometimes he's hard to stomach, we can never,
I think we bower heads and never ever forget, guys,
what Lebron James did for us in the twenty twelve
A Finals.
Speaker 7 (06:42):
The shot Hawkers turned off the Miami Heat are once
again NBA champions. Lebron James captures that elusive title he's
so desperately coveted. There's Clay Bennett, the owner in front
of Durant hugging all of his players.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
It's a bitter disappointment better than.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Us, all right, So those are the eight seeds, all right,
let's get to it. We'll start. We'll start with the
four versus five matchup. Let me get 't just do
a snake draft here again. I guess Dick. We'll start
with you number four seed, the Baltimore Ravens beating the
Niners in Super Bowl forty seven. Remember the way that
(07:22):
game ended, As you said, the power went out that
night in the Super Bowl?
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Was that New Orleans? By the way, I think it
was right.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
It was the New Orleans yet, and the Niners and
Kaepernick had driven all the way down and they got
denied by the raven defense. Baltimore beating the forty nine
Ers in Super Bowl forty seven, or the five seed, Dick,
Kansas City beating the Niners in Super Bowl fifty four
when the Niners pissed away a ten point fourth quarter lead.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
What do you got? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (07:48):
I think these are misseed.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
I think they should be flip flopped because the rivalry
had not gotten.
Speaker 5 (07:54):
To a fevered pitch yet.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
When the Ravens beat the San Francisco forty nine Ers
and plus because that way the way the game that went,
it was a four and a half hour football game
of an hour long delay. It was just like it
was painful to watch. So yes, I was thrilled the
Niners loss, but not nearly as thrilled as I was
in twenty twenty when.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
They win the Chiefs beat them.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
Well, it's funny because you mentioned being in Vegas for
that game. I wasn't there with you, by the way,
you didn't go down there with us. I've never a
whole station thing I was.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
At the ever queen.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
I've never been to Vegas for a Super Bowl ever
ever ever a gotch So, but I appreciate you thinking
about me with us. So you're taking the Chiefs fifty four?
All right, Jackson, go ahead?
Speaker 3 (08:36):
Yeah, it's it's a ten point lead that you you
glew a ten point lead. And when we're talking about
moments like, I think that that was I chose to
call there.
Speaker 5 (08:46):
Greg Papa.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
I want to say, yes, Greg Papa Papa's call there
where it was just like, okay, if we hold them,
if they don't get a first down here, we have
a shot, we still have hope. And then it's a touchdown.
Run that moment, sanctity of the bracket, moment, that touchdown
run right there to seal it for the Chiefs. Well,
just so sweet.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
When was the Patriot Falcon game? Was that before?
Speaker 3 (09:08):
After that game twenty fifteen?
Speaker 1 (09:11):
Definitely it was before?
Speaker 2 (09:12):
Okay, so if not for that game, then that would
have tied the biggest Well, but hey, you know what
they felt what we felt. Okay, maybe not as badly
because we get to the one yard line. You get
that now, no need to go over it. But they
felt what we felt because there's a moment in that game,
and I think, I think this.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
Call, can you fail it down? Was when they were
up ten exactly right, and they're.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Thinking it's over, We're gonna win the damn Super Bowl
for the first time since ninety four with Steve Young
to fail it down?
Speaker 1 (09:44):
And they pissed it away? Difficult? They were so close, okay,
so close.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
So not that my vote matters because it's already done,
but I agree with both you guys. I think any
time Arrival chokes away at ten point lead in the
fourth quarter and gives us some of the greatest drops
of all time, fail it down. I'm going with a
five seed Okay, I'm going the five seed. All right,
what do we got next? Let's go with what you do?
One eight or three six that portion of the brocket. Yeah, okay,
(10:10):
one eight. Ohio State over Oregon in the twenty twenty
five Rolls. Boy, Remember Oregon was the favorite to win
the national Championship. They had spent a large majority of
the second half of the year number one in the country.
And they're down thirty four to nothing in the first half.
It was over before it started. It kind of reminded
(10:30):
me of Dick and Jackson's too young to remember this
the eighty three AFC Championship game against the Raiders for
the Seahawks, where it was kind of over from the start.
We had no shot to win that game. Oregon fans
spending a bunch of money and they don't even get entertained.
They don't even get to go to halftime dreaming about
winning the game and coming back.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
It's oh, it's thirty four to nothing in the first half.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
So that over our Versus Lebron James beating Oklahoma City
and knocking out the Thunder in the twenty twelve NBA Finals, Jackson,
what do you got.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
Just seeing the sound. I had to go get this
that audio today of the Oklahoma City versus Miami end
of that Game five because it was a four to
one series win, and watching Clay Bennett in the hallway,
the sadness on his face, hugging his players, but just
the overall disappointment gave me just one of the biggest
(11:21):
pieces of joy that I've had in a while. And
just that that struck me today as Wow, I am
so happy in this moment. The one seed's got to
move on. But it's closer than you may think.
Speaker 1 (11:33):
Well this really, this really is the shade and throw
to bracket. Let's face. Oh yeah, right, yeah, that's what
this is.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
And so let me So this was the twenty ten
twenty eleven NBA season, Is that correct?
Speaker 3 (11:43):
Twelve?
Speaker 2 (11:43):
It was a twelve finals, so twenty eleven, two thousand, okay,
So this was four years after the Sonics took off,
and I'm trying to remember when the Chris Hansen maloof
thing came.
Speaker 5 (11:52):
Down right about then?
Speaker 1 (11:54):
Yeah, I think you're.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
Right, And it may have been before it, Dick or
maybe slightly twenty twelve, but the point is it was
still everything was still very raw from that sonic move,
and so here we are watching the sonic stabus and
the heart or at least you know, Clay Bennett and
Howard Schultz, and then not, you know, five years later
we got to watch them in a new form go
(12:17):
out and maybe.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
Win the NBA. Damn title. It was horrible.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
So again, Lebron James, there's always gonna be, you know,
I think I don't think he should get a statue
at Climate Pledge Aerina Dick, but maybe a plaque somewhere, yeah,
like in the men's room or whatever, or just maybe
a mini statue or maybe a name a wing of
the arena after the guy that them doing that and
(12:42):
taking care of them was a huge load off my
back because that would have sucked four years later watching
them win. So I'm gonna go with the one seed.
As much as I love that Rose Bull and it
was damn fun. By the way, I haven't had that
much fun watching a non Sattle sports game in a
long time. I gotta go with the one seed.
Speaker 4 (13:01):
I haven't always been as big a Lebron fan as
I am right now, and I think the first I
think the first day that my Lebron like went to
Lebron Love was that day right there? Okay, because I
already liked him, And then I'm like, wait a second,
this is probably my favorite player for the NBA.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
We've traced the origins, So.
Speaker 4 (13:24):
You're telling me the player that's already my favorite player
in the NBA, but I don't have a love affair
with him, But the favorite player in the NBA is
now going to knock off the Thunder to win the championship.
Speaker 5 (13:37):
Oh, you have just cemented me, Lebron James in your.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
Heart for in my heart forever, we got a cup
of me. Enough, Let's try and get one more matchup in.
Let's go with the two seven seed matchup Lillard and
knocking out the Thunder and nineteen with that great shot
at the buzzer. And then, don't forget he came out
and said after the game that was for Seattle.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
Remember that, Yes? And then North Carolina.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
Beating Gonzaga Deny Dick Fan's beloved Gonzaga Bulldogs the twenty
seventeen NCAA Basketball Championship.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
Jackson, go ahead.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
I don't think that that UNC should even be on this.
Thank you, Jackson. I'm sorry, Softy. I wonder why it
I think.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
I think because most people that are Hustle fans hate Gonzagas.
Speaker 5 (14:17):
Don't think you're right about that.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
Oh my god, you know what, Dick, I gotta be
honest with you. The planet that you live on, Will
you take me there one day?
Speaker 1 (14:25):
Please?
Speaker 5 (14:26):
I just I don't. I don't know any Husky fan
that hates them as much as you. That's the thing.
Speaker 1 (14:31):
You're at the point, You're at the point, you're so
far on.
Speaker 5 (14:34):
One end of the scale. Yes, I'm sure there's lots
of Dog fans that don't.
Speaker 2 (14:38):
Like rooting against them against North Carolina. They don't think
of that.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
And you're out to lunch and your head is further
up your ass than I thought of.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
Let me just take the moments to give you my
honorable mention that that I would have on my bracket here,
and that is the Portland Timbers losing the championship at
home in penalty kicks. Just in twenty twenty one, at
home down in Portland, they lost the championship to New
York City in penalties in front of their big supporter section,
right in their house. The most glorious thing as a
(15:07):
Sounder fan. So but anyway, Number two seed. Lillard moves on.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
Okay, who's got mir or Dick? You can Dick, go ahead,
go ahead, pass.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
Okay, fine, I'm saying Gonzaga. Let's put to a.
Speaker 5 (15:21):
Honest you know what.
Speaker 4 (15:22):
I want Dave to go first, because I got this
second time answer.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
This time out of minute. Gonzaga fan base is arrogant.
Speaker 4 (15:28):
Okay, I want to go next because I honest, I
want his honest answer. Demon Lillard sand this is for
Seattle or his personal stupid hatred of Gonzaga.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
Okay, my my, my answer would be Oklahoma City. And
I think it's disgusting as a as a guy that
claims to be a Husky fan that is as much
love for Gonzaga as you do. I think you're full
of it when you say you're not as big a
Gonzaga fan as people think you are. I saw you
and Dixon crying like babies when they beat U c
l A to go to the National Championship Game. I
(15:57):
think that you are actually a bigger Gonzaga fan then
you are a Husky fan, and the fact that it
bothers you so much that people hate Gonzaga in this
city as Washington fans. I again, I just don't know
what world, what planet you live in, and whatever you
put in your body, whatever drugs that you and Jesse
to get your brain to get to that point. I'd
love to have some of them, but I would go
(16:19):
with Oklahoma City.
Speaker 4 (16:20):
Okay, do you I mean the first part of your
statement is correct?
Speaker 5 (16:23):
I think correct.
Speaker 1 (16:25):
That's why I said it.
Speaker 4 (16:26):
You you honestly believe, and you would swear on this.
You honestly believe that I like Gonzaga more than Washington. Yes,
I do, because now and why have I never rooted
for Gonzaga ever one time when they played Washington the
few times they actually have played Washington.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
I think I think subconsciously you actually might be. To
be honest with you, I might not even know about it.
Speaker 7 (16:46):
Now.
Speaker 3 (16:46):
Now you're subconsciously well because I think I think.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
I think what you're doing now is that you're so
annoyed and irritated by people like me that bust your ball.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
The other world one that does that.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
I am busting your balls, and it's forcing you to
go the other way.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
I'm telling him that I'm the only one. Look at
the text line, are you kidding me? Hey?
Speaker 2 (17:06):
Let's do a pall? Hey, Hey, hustination. What do we
think of Fane's love friggin zaga?
Speaker 10 (17:12):
All right?
Speaker 2 (17:13):
Four nine five one, Because it's in the bracket, we're
talking about it right now, and you were the one
that said that you don't think it should be in there,
which I think it should be. An you know what,
I can show you a text thread from Jackson that
says contrary, unless you change your mind.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
Jackson, did you change your mind?
Speaker 3 (17:28):
Well, I've made very clear when we started this discussion
that I'm putting my Sounders and Timbers hatred aside so
that we can move forward, because it would just be
me voting for the soccer threats exactly.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
I believe you said earlier that North Carolina would be
in your top eight unless you change your.
Speaker 3 (17:42):
Mind, And that was after that was after I mentioned
that my soccer stuff is not going to be talking.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
But here's the thing. Even if it's not your top eight,
is it ninth?
Speaker 3 (17:49):
Maybe it's probably ninth or tenth.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
Yeah, there you go. Okay, So that's the difference. I mean,
you and I both were excited when the Tar Hills
w I'm just making.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
The point that I personally would have had the Timbers
losing a Championship a home got.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
You, gotcha, But we can only have eighteen or eight
to eight to eight matchups, so they got to be
left out, all right, So we're gonna go with the thunder.
I will take Lillard over the Gonzaga game.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
We will move on.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
We'll get our next matchup and vote on a champ
after a PGA Championship.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
Update next on ninety three three kJ RFM.
Speaker 12 (18:21):
On testing live from the R and R Foundation specialist
broad Jast Studio. Now back to Saftie and dig powered
by Emerald Queen Casino, the betting and capital of the Northwest.

Speaker 11 (18:36):
Tyer the Freshman is wrestled down at the forty six
yard line.
Speaker 9 (18:41):
Pluget Kenemy gets back up, Dyer gets back up.
Speaker 3 (18:44):
Was he not on the ground?
Speaker 9 (18:47):
Please stay on top of pleasant the duncher saying, wait
a minute, he went down?
Speaker 6 (18:50):
Got at the Helien touchdown Ohio State on the final
player of the quarter in Firstingo Eliot again farrels an.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
X the National Championship. Uh.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
By the way, I think all three of us should
be very proud right now, extremely proud because I think
we just set a kJ our record for the most
interactions at four nine four five one.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
With that last segment, I.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
Mean, if there is a red light that is uh
you ever see the movie about the guy? What was
the was the the oil spill with Marky market o.
Speaker 5 (19:26):
God, yeah on the oil right?
Speaker 1 (19:29):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever, And it's like.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't don't.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
That's what the text line looks like right now.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
It gets kind of a fifty to fifty Gonzaga the
Gonzaga you just texted me and said you wanted to
keep talking about it. Oh, that wasn't you, that was
somebody else. You're right, I'm sorry. Uh, let's see four
two five. Let me just read a couple quickly. Softy's
disdained for Gonzaga is bizarre.
Speaker 1 (19:53):
What did you ever do to him?
Speaker 2 (19:55):
SOFTI one hundred percent correct about Gonzaga hate and about
Dick's true fieldings toward Gonzaga two five three. Dick is
gonna punch Softy one of these days. Is gonna be justified.
Two o six Softy, Dick, you guys need to give each.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
Other a hug. Four two five Dick is insane. Gonzaga sucks.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
Uh, two five three Dick is a closet zagfan and
two o six Softy is an fing loudmouth idiot.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
Well, come to say, there's a couple of things. One,
there's nothing closet about my guns. And secondly, I love
to tell that guy, did you what was the text?
Speaker 1 (20:27):
Guns?
Speaker 3 (20:28):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (20:28):
Softy can tell Dick's true feelings?
Speaker 4 (20:31):
Like, how can anybody tell my true feelings about anything?
Speaker 5 (20:35):
Except for me?
Speaker 1 (20:36):
Because I broke into your house where you were talking
in your sleep?
Speaker 3 (20:38):
Oh gotcha?
Speaker 2 (20:39):
Okay, and I heard you Casey Calvary, Adam Morris, Dan Dick.
Speaker 1 (20:47):
Unbelievable. All right, let's get to it.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
So we are three of the first three matchups right
of our little bracket we're doing here. Uh, that brings
us to the three six matchup. You heard the highlights
right there, Auburn being Oregon and the two twenty eleven
championship game denying the Ducks the title at Ohio State
beating Oregon in the twenty fourteen first ever college football
(21:09):
Playoff final. I'll go first. We're talking about just picking
one of these two Oregon losses. Obviously, Oh boy, this
is gonna be a tough one for hard Yeah, it
really is a tough one because the first of all,
they're only three years apart, and then number two, I
was very fearful for both of them. I do think
I would slide towards the Auburn game because that was
(21:32):
a really good game, if I remember correct, the Ohio
State kind of had their way right eventually with Oregon
in the fourth quarter. So I think that that Oregon
team in twenty eleven gave me a little more angst
at the end than the twenty fourteen team did, so
I'll take Cam Newton and you know what. That game
also gave us that famous photo of Darren Thomas sticking
(21:52):
his fingers up his nose in the sideline during.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
That championship came, so give me the give me the
three seed, Dick.
Speaker 4 (22:00):
What's weird about this is I vividly remember the Auburn
Oregon game.
Speaker 5 (22:04):
I remember where I was.
Speaker 4 (22:05):
I was hosting a viewing party at the Loose Wheel
and Tacoma.
Speaker 5 (22:09):
Everybody was there rooting for Auburn.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
It was just this awesome anti Oregon party that we
had there, so it was really cool. I don't remember
the Ohio State Oregon game at all, really, which is weird.
I don't remember where I was. I don't remember the
game at all, So I got to vote for the
one I actually remember, and that's the Auburn one.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
Wow, all right, Jackson, you want to chime into the
two seats moving on? You watch chime me though. Yeah?
Speaker 3 (22:29):
For me, it's so easily the Ohio State win for
a lot of reasons. Wow, it's the first ever college
football playoff. If Oregon wins the first ever college football playoff,
they are hanging that over every not only our heads,
everyone's heads till the end of time. But also looking
back at this, I had to make sure that I
was correct on this the way Yeah it was. Here
(22:51):
was the thing about that Auburn Oregon was only favored
by one that was going to be a close and
it was a close game. It was like nineteen nineteen
up until the last second where Auburn hits the game winner.
But the Oregon Ohio State in twenty fourteen, the Ducks
were the higher seed, they were favored by six and
a half points. The Ducks were heavy favorites in that
(23:12):
twenty fourteen national title game, and Ohio State just freaking
whooped their ass.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
Well, but how many times have you guys told me
and Dick, you said this that you would like nothing
more for our least favorite football team to have their
hearts ripped out and stopped on with a tough loss
in the fourth quarter of a football game or a
basketball guest, right, that's that's what happened to Oregon against
aug It was nineteen nineteen with two minutes to go
in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
Up until last ten seconds, where a lost.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
Lost on a game winning field goal. All right, they're
thinking we got a shot, we got a shot to
win it. No, you don't, and it was over. So
two seed versus the three seed. You want to blow
texts out and vote on this next? What do you
want to do here?
Speaker 3 (23:52):
Joy, Let's get one quick one in then let's shoot
you know what you're Rick, We need text though, right,
We're good.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
Let's let's let's just let's take two. Many vote on
him right now?
Speaker 2 (24:01):
Okay, So we got the five seed versus the one
seed on one side, which is the Chiefs beating the
Niners and then pissing away the ten point lead in
the Super Bowl and then Miami over Oklahoma City and
the NBA Finals. I'll make it easy and just I
love what happened to the Niners. But I love the
thunder being denied even more. Give me the one seed,
(24:22):
let me go a.
Speaker 5 (24:22):
Second is I want Jackson to do that. I want
Jackson to have the.
Speaker 4 (24:24):
Vote to win this thing. Okay, go ahead, I'm gonna
go the other way. I just remember how unbelievable, how
much fun I had. It was the last big party
before COVID, Like my last huge get together is like
forty people, and it was the last time I saw
forty people for like a.
Speaker 5 (24:38):
Year and a half.
Speaker 4 (24:39):
And the Niners lose and in that fashion, God, I
just love that day. I'm gonna vote for the Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
All right, Jackson, go ahead.
Speaker 3 (24:46):
This is like my title game. It's up to you, Jackson.
This is the most difficult thing I've had yet.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
We don't have all day? Are you late?
Speaker 2 (24:57):
God?
Speaker 1 (24:57):
Quick?
Speaker 3 (24:58):
One Kansas City over sand Friend because it was a
ten point Wow.
Speaker 1 (25:02):
They completely blew it.
Speaker 3 (25:04):
And again to moments the title of our bracket, sanctity
of the bracket is favorite non Seattle sports moment. Okay,
he won that, Seriason five. The Niners just it was
it was the culminade. Oh my gosh, they just blew it.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
In ten, so the Chiefs are moving on and Lebron's done.
Lebron doesn't make the finals. Voted two versus three. Lillard
knocking out the Thunder versus Auburn beating Oregon in twenty eleven.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
Oh boys, I'm.
Speaker 4 (25:32):
Going Millard litrd is my favorite end of singular non
Seattle sports moment of the last twenty years.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
At that Lillard show, Jackson, go ahead.
Speaker 3 (25:42):
I'm calling Oregon losing a Natty like and this I
would have voted for the sixth seed in this too,
because it's a championship game and it's keeping the Ducks
from winning a championship. Hell yeah, aub.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
Here's here's here's the problem, Dick that I'm having here.
If Auburn had beaten the snot out of Oregon, I
probably would have taken Lillard because I agree with you.
If you're going to go back and look up like
one play, that's the play that you might look up.
Speaker 3 (26:08):
The moment the camera right exactly.
Speaker 1 (26:13):
Also had their moment with the game winning field goals
and Dire.
Speaker 3 (26:17):
Yeah, dire staying on the sting above the field both.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
Could I phone a friend and have a friend votue.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
You know what I think we take a break. We
come back now to the end of it, the champions
a second?
Speaker 2 (26:27):
What your Damian Lillard beating the thunder that last second
buzzer beater, or Auburn game winning field goal denying the
Ducks a championship? Pick one, Pick one, boy, Arry Auburn.
Speaker 3 (26:40):
He says, Auburn.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
Wow, So we truly fifty to fifty out the great
fifty fifty All right?
Speaker 2 (26:47):
We got Auburn beating the Ducks, and we got the
Niners getting beat by the chief.
Speaker 3 (26:51):
Let'st's let's let's get to this after the final, after.
Speaker 1 (26:54):
Pick a champ and do some text as well. Next
on ninety three three kJ r f M.
Speaker 12 (27:00):
Live from the R and R Foundation Specialist Broadcast Studio.
Now back to Softie and Dig, towered by Emerald Queen Casino,
the Betty and Capital of the Northwest. On Sports Radio
ninety three point three kjr FA.
Speaker 11 (27:14):
The freshman just wrestled down every forty six yard line.
Speaker 9 (27:18):
Pluget V gets back up, Dyer gets back up.
Speaker 1 (27:22):
Was he not on the ground?
Speaker 9 (27:25):
Please stay on top of pleasant The Dungeons saying, wait.
Speaker 3 (27:27):
A minute, he was down.
Speaker 10 (27:28):
If they pick up the first down, the Chiefs are
gonna win the Super Bowl. Damian Williams against the adjacently he.
Speaker 5 (27:33):
Runs for a first down.
Speaker 10 (27:34):
Damian Williams will run all the way in for a
Kansas City touchdown. That's a shame, obviously, extremely difficult or
they were so close, so close?
Speaker 1 (27:44):
That all right?
Speaker 2 (27:45):
So we are, Yeah, we are through to the final,
our favorite none Seattle sports moment of all time.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
And again, I mean, you gotta.
Speaker 2 (27:51):
You gotta pick somebody, right, like the Lillard Oklahoma City
shot was phenomenal, But I don't know. I guess I
just flipped the coin and went with the Auburn Tigers
and somebody in you know, they got beat by a
clown in cam Newton, which makes it even more satisfying.
Speaker 1 (28:05):
We lost to that guy, Are you kidding me? Yeah,
you lost to that guy. Bozo's.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
So the three versus five matchup, we'll take some texts
if we can. Maybe we'll do some texta five thirty
or five to forty five tonight number three Auburn beating
Oregon in the twenty eleven championship game or Kansas City
beating San Francisco in Super Bowl fifty four. Why don't
I go first? Because I went last last time. I
(28:32):
hate the Niners, and I love the fact that San
Francisco fans have to live with a ten point choke
job in the fourth quarter for the rest of their life.
But Oregon getting denied a national championship in twenty eleven
made me so fuzzy and warm inside. And the fact
that it came on a last second field goal, and
the fact that it came to Cam Newton, the fact
(28:53):
that it came to that quarterback that now is universally,
I think, panned and criticized by everybody for being a bozo.
I gotta go with the Oregon guys beating Oregon in
the twenty eleven championships. So Jackson, you're you're next up? Well,
that Dick potentially decide the winner.
Speaker 3 (29:11):
I hate the Ducks, but it was ten points. They
could feel it now. Everybody in San Francisco was celebrating.
They were all starting their parties. Champagne is getting popped.
They thought to themselves, Oh my gosh, everything that the
Seahawks have hung over our heads of being the you know,
(29:31):
the better team in the West of this century, Like
we're finally gonna cook that and we're finally gonna have
our title and they cooked themselves and it was just
again the moment the touchdown run for Damian Williams there
and just the absolute heartbreak of we have some hope. Listen,
I know it's only a three point game. We have hope,
(29:52):
and then for all that hope to just be put
into flames with that just abysmal defense in that touchdown run.
It's the moment where all the Niners hopes died. Give
me the Chiefs coming back to beat the Niners.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
Forget Richard Sherman got cooked in that fourth quarter, right right? Yeah,
all right? So I took Auburn and Jackson took the Niners.
Speaker 4 (30:15):
Dick, Yeah, there's no wrong answer. There is no wrong
answer to this. When they were both incredibly shaden freudy,
there's no question about it, but satisfying. I think something
similar happened to me with Patrick Mahomes. That happened to
me with Lebron James beating with the home who. Patrick
Mahomes was coming off an MVP season the year before,
(30:35):
fifty touchdowns and twelve interceptions, and we were and I
just loved watching this guy play. So when you combine
the fact that it is my most hated NFL rival
with the fact that I really really like this upstart
Kansas City team, and I really really liked this quarterback.
I could give a crap about Auburn. In fact, I
(30:56):
didn't like I hated Cam Newton as an NFL player.
I didn't really particular like him as a college player.
I was just rooting for Auburn because I had to
root for Auburn over Oregon. So this was kind of
a double for me. A team that I really kind
of liked against the team that I hated the most.
That blew and Jackson goes back to the lead blown
and that's key. That is key in this, the fact
(31:17):
that every Niner fan, including Night or Nate, was just
stealing that they had won the Super Bowl for the
first time in thirty years, only to get it ripped
from him.
Speaker 5 (31:29):
I'm going with the Chiefs, going with the Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (31:32):
Well, you know what, the game that gave us this
can you feel it now? And extremely difficulty were close,
so close. I love it.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
Has been crowned the champion of the Shaden Freuda Bracket,
our favorite non Seattle sports moment of it at NIME.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
You got the highlights back there again. Jackson, you want
to play one more time.
Speaker 2 (31:51):
Kansas City beating San Francisco and the Niners blowing a
ten point lead in Super Bowl fifty four has won.
Speaker 10 (32:00):
Simply if they pick up the first down, the Chiefs
are going to win the Super Bowl. High formation Sherman
lead players Damian Williams against the edge easily, he runs for.
Speaker 3 (32:08):
A first down.
Speaker 10 (32:09):
Damian Williams will run all the way in for a
Kansas City touchdown.
Speaker 1 (32:13):
That's a shame.
Speaker 10 (32:14):
Obviously extremely difficult, or they were so close, so close,
