Speaker 1 (00:00):
So I was, I mean, basically following this baseball team
constantly on my phone all weekend long.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Well, having been there on Saturday, sitting there through the
How long was the fire alarm? Actually it was only
about twelve thirteen minutes, but it felt like a good
half hour.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
Was it just like the franchise, you know, panicking at
that moment because it was not What was the score
when the fire alarm went on?
Speaker 2 (00:25):
I think it was the I don't think we had
the home run yet, so I want to say it
was still two nothing or three three nothing, three nothing.
But the worst part about the whole thing, and you know, Dick,
I'm totally calm and never freak out about anything. But
the worst part was obviously you see the lights going
off inside of T Mobile Park, and that's one thing.
But then they decided to put up a thing on
(00:46):
the scoreboard that said incident investigation. We are currently experiencing
and investigating an incident. Please remain calm, hold on, Please
remain calm as we evaluate the situation. Other announcements will
we made over the PA systems shortly. Thank you for
your patients and cooperation. Anytime you see the words please
(01:06):
remain calm. I never remained calm.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Well, just think of where we were then, I mean,
down three nothing to Minnesota, having already it was rewind
the last week, having already lost three of four to
the Astros. Then a no show which I ended up
attending on Wednesday, where you lost nine nothing to Washington.
Then back to back extra inning loss and just painful,
(01:31):
excruciating extra inning losses on Thursday and Friday.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
Then you're down three zero Saturday to Minnesota. You're like,
what is going on?
Speaker 1 (01:40):
But then we get to the end and look what prevails. Wow,
contact and old school baseball prevail Saturday Bottomy eleventh sacrifice,
but then a contact playfielder's choice by twenty one year
old Cole Young in his debut to win it. Fast
forward to what you did? You get the assist from
the wins based third base coach as well. Why in
(02:02):
the world would you send a runner, any runner, let
alone a runner with a piano strap to.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
His back barely running? Oh my, he was walking home.
That was the slowest man, our guy.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
And they were I heard in the in the promo
or teasing Bucky Jacobson about his speed. Bucky Jacobson, right,
now it's getting home from second faster than whoever that
dude was when when Julio threw him out. But a
great play by Julio. But thanks to the Twins third
base coach for helping us win that game. And then
Sunday again, ninth inning, infield, single stolen base force the issue.
(02:39):
Get the throw out and out in the outfield, get
Julio to third, and then you have a drawn in infield,
because let's face it, that's not a base hit by
a rose Raina if the infield isn't playing up.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
It's just like a ground ball.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Hey, right, depends where they're shaded, because like it did
take a pretty sharp and it was hit well, So
I don't know, I'm that that might be a B.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
But the point is a rose A Raina put made
contact great on the baseball, unlike what he did during
the prior series.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
And that was like that was a mention, much more
of a statement walkoff hit than Cole Young's.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
Yes, that's right, that's right, dribbler.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
But that's exactly the type of baseball I feel like
they are going to have to play all year A
in order to win the division and be in order
to ride their pitching deep into the playoffs because I
I just this old school Mariner way of offense, which
is strikeout top five in the American League, if not
(03:35):
type top five all time, and just play for the
home run ball, play for the home run ball, swing
out of your shoes, doesn't matter if they're second and third,
less than two outs. We're still swinging for our shoes
and trying to get the big inning. That's just not
gonna play. And Edgar realizes it's not gonna play, and
Dan we Wilson realizes it's not gonna play.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
So they're doing now. We still get stuck in those things.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
The Rose Arena, you know, game zero for five game
with three or four strikeouts of the last week. That's
fortunately that seems to be an exception to the rule
this year. And what we're seeing this weekend Jackson, stolen bases, sacrifice,
butts playing the contact. Well, that seems to be at
least more in the cards this year than it has
(04:18):
been the last few year.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Maybe I would say on Saturday it was blatantly JP
Crawford breaking the light and right field and Cal Rawly
hitting bomb after bomb after bomb. That's the reason, that's
the reason why the Mariners were in the three games
and won two of them is because we were bombing
it up. I mean, like, really Saturday's game, if it
weren't for that, we get blasted in that game. And
(04:39):
then cal Rawley's home run was obviously you know, a
huge difference before the walkoff. So I mean, ultimately, this
is a team that's still looking well still. I think
we're still second in the American League in home runs
and cal Rowley leads the league in home runs. And
that's how you're gonna get this is this is Mariner baseball,
ladies and gentlemen.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
But that's how you're gonna stay in games is with
the home run. But in order to tip the scales,
particular next and ratings, and you know how many extra
inning games we play, My god, we play every single
freaking game.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
Seems like it's tied up in the ninth or in
extra innings when you started, when you started an inning
with a runner on second base, you don't need a
home run ever, exactly exactly, but at times teams play
like they need a home run with a runner on
at second base, but to get but to get back
to dump, but to get back to Cal.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
I want to take you back to a conversation I had,
and I went back and looked at the date. Take
you back to a conversation I had with my dad,
my ninety three year old father, on April the sixteenth.
And why did I know it was April the sixteenth
because I remember saying to Dad that day, Wow, did
you see Cal had.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
Two home runs?
Speaker 1 (05:41):
And I know it was the first day that he
had two home runs in the twenty twenty five season. Now,
let's let's go back and think. Okay, what was our
impressions of Cal Rawly on April sixteenth?
Speaker 3 (05:53):
Love him?
Speaker 1 (05:53):
Top five catcher in baseball, top five catcher in baseball,
top three or four player on the Mariners behind you know,
name your name, your starting pitcher, Moonios, Julio, you know,
top five, So, top five player on the Mariners, top
five player, top five catcher in Major League Baseball. And
I remember my dad looks at me. He's ninety three.
(06:15):
I mean, he's lucid most of the time.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
But like you know, he doesn't there's not a lot of.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
Depth sometimes, you know, but he looked at me, and
I will never forget.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
This as long as Cal Rawley's playing baseball and maybe
beyond that. He looked at me at ninety three years
old from his wheelchair and he said. All he said
was best catcher in baseball, best player on the Mariners. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
And I was like, but back then, on April sixteenth,
here were his numbers, two oh three with a seven
eighty six ops. Those were his numbers going into that game.
And I was like, okay, but he said it with
such conviction. Now my dad is calling base get into exists.
(07:00):
College baseball player, semi pro baseball player, coach, coach baseball
at the University of Washington.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
So he knows the game. But I was like, wow,
best catcher in baseball and best player on the Mariners. Okay, Dad,
I'll go with that, and he's you're right. He LeVar
balditt Man.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
He like spoke it into existence for who is exactly no,
because Cal's is guy. Kel's Ben his guy all year.
So it's just it is so fun to watch this
guy play. And now he's joined Junior as the only
Al players ever, not only Mariner players ever, only American
League players ever, with twenty two home runs by the
(07:39):
end of May, he adds one.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
He adds one in June.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
The War gap between cal Rawley and the second best
catcher in baseball in War, Will Smith the Dodgers. The
War gap three point eight to two point three. Okay,
so there's a gap of one point five. That gap.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
You know, we like to play this game.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
You know that gap is the same as that gap
is the same as second place Will Smith to the
fifteenth best catching war Baseball. That is the gap how
cal Ray is the best catcher in Major League Baseball.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
It is the gap of number two to number fifteen.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
Anders and I were out to dinner on Friday night
and we were talking about cal rally right now in
just the historical sense of the Seattle Mariners. It's kind
of fitting the conversation on a day where we learned
that Randy Johnson's going in number retired next year. Obviously
we have each Hio going and it was it next
month or a couple months his fifty one.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
So when we talk about the historical nature of the.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
Seattle Mariners, cal Rawley, based on what he's already done,
he's given us a moment like Edgar gave us a moment.
Cal has given us a moment. He's giving us on
June second twenty twenty five the Major League Baseball lead
in home runs, which is crazy to think about.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
He's done all these things.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
Your dad's called him the best Mariner right now, best
catcher in baseball? Where is cal Rawly right now at
this moment in the greatest Mariners of all time discussion?
Because Andrews and I were kind of looking at the
war list of all time Mariner wars, he is just
just rising up like there like a sky.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
Read we talked about.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
I think it was probably the day that you were
Andrews was on the show, and you were.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
Right, it was, And that's what that's probably why why
I came. I mean, like he's top five. Yeah he is.
I mean he's top five.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
He's he's he's right after Griffy and Edgar and a Rod.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
I mean it's and he's ahead of, you know, Kyle
Seegers of the world. I think Felix is right now
the next one for him to jump. We were just.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
Talking offense back in the day. We were we were
back in that day. We were talking. We were talking offense.
Speaker 3 (09:41):
But yes, I mean, I mean.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
In terms of hitters, it's hard to make a case
that he's any lower than five, four or five.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
It's it's been as bad as Wednesday, Thursday, Friday was
It's been a very good Saturday, Sunday and now into
Monday for this baseball club and with Randy Johnson, you know,
good time. I'm Mariners win a couple games in a row.
Vibes are up, Randy's number announce getting retired. Each Hero's
comments on it. I know we got Randy's comments as well.
I had not read this, but I want to read
(10:11):
you what eachiro had to say about Randy said when
I first got the number fifty one, I knew it
was a special number. This was what he said at
a news conference in January after he was elected to
the Hall of Fame. I knew it was a special
number to the organization. I knew it was a special
number for the fans in Seattle. Obviously, I wanted to
make sure number fifty one was done justice, make sure
(10:33):
that fifty one wasn't going to be embarrassed. And I
felt like if number fifty one was just an average player.
Speaker 3 (10:40):
I wouldn't be doing Randy Johnson justice.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
And pretty powerful words from each row, and it sounds
like Randy has got some got some great things to
say as well.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
They came out today.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
Exactly because we pair that comment with his from Randy
Johnson's comments to press conference day, which we'll play right here.
It's amazing how these two kind of worked together on this.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
I'm extremely excited and proud and honored that this ownership
has been working on this behind the scenes for a
little while. And I know the significance of each ear
rot and his accomplishments, and I didn't want to interfere
(11:21):
with his Hall of Fame induction this year or his
number retirement this year. And so the one contingent factor
that I had was that if this was going to happen,
that I didn't want to take away anything.
Speaker 5 (11:38):
From his deserving day, and it would have to be
done a different day, a different year, and because he
deserves to have his own day for all of his
acknowledgment and his accomplishments.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
There.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
Wow, it's very cool.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
It's always been kind of odd, you know which one
you retire first, Randy or Echro. Randy came first, so
chronologically should retire Randy, but then Eachro was basically a
Mariner forever, right, I mean? And yeah, he played a
cup of coffee here and there. But he was a
Mariner and where as Randy. You know what, it wasn't
the greatest you know, it wasn't the greatest breakup between
(12:18):
Randy and the Seattle Mariners. But it sounds like everything's
been patched up. We're gonna get each ro this year
in the Hall of Fame. We're gonna get Randy's number
retired next year, and you know, I go back, and
it was cool that they did it on the thirty
fifth anniversary because somewhere at my folks house, I have
got a ticket stub from June to second nineteen ninety.
Speaker 3 (12:41):
Now you were there, I was there, and I.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
Went to I went to a bunch of games when
I was in high school and college. But the reason
I remember this one not just the Randy, not just
the Randy no hitter, but the seats that I had
because normally, as sixteen seventeen, eighteen nine year old, I
was paying for my own I was going with my
buddy three hundred level oh Southwest Airlines, cloud crowd six bucks.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
That's where I'd sit.
Speaker 4 (13:06):
Right.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
He was like, literally, find the cheapest ticket into the
Kingdom and then move wherever you want. You know and
back when you can move wherever you want. But a
lot of times I just like sit up in the rafters.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
Right.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
So we had a friend, a friend of my longtime
friend of my folks that you know, he was very
well off, we'll put it that okay, right, and he
was like, Hey, I want to take your whole family
to the Mariners game.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
Oh wow. We were like cool.
Speaker 1 (13:32):
And he took us to the Mariners game and we
were like in the third row behind the dugout.
Speaker 3 (13:38):
Oh geez.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
And to the I do not think to that point
in my life, I was not yet sixteen years old.
I am pretty certain I had never been in seats
like that before, and it just so happens it was
that day. And the weird thing about that day was
Randy was walking the world that day. There weren't base
(13:59):
runners everywhere that day, so you had no there was
no realization that there was a no hitter going on
until late, late, late in the game, and I it
was I think it was the seventh and I looked
up at the scoreboard and I saw zero's on the
(14:20):
hits line, and I was like, it was the first
time I even realized it because there had been there
have been like five base runners, and and I was like,
oh my god. And about the same time, I could
hear my dad say to my mom, Hey, do you
know that Randy? My mom could you couldn't even get
it out. My mom elbows him. She's like, sh don't
(14:41):
say anything, exactly, don't say anything.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
Didn't want the Jakes out there.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
And so then and and it was weird because from
the seventh to the ninth it was like this kind
of telephone game, right, yeah.
Speaker 3 (14:55):
Of course, look at this social media hit.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
And then the buzz just kind of went from a
zero up to a you know, up to a ten.
And when we got to Mike Heith with two outs
in the ninth, thingning, I get up. I was so excited.
I get up on those those old Kingdom chairs. They
would fly back.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
You have to you have to sit on them or
and if you got off of them, they just fly
back into the vertical position. Right, Sully were awful, right,
And so I was.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
He throws the he throws the fastball high, Mike Keith swings.
I get up on the chair to celebrate, right yeah,
and my feet go through the back of the chair
like it flips up on me and I just go
ass over tea kettle on the crownd and I'm like hurt,
and I'm like I'm jacked up because random like like
I'm stuck and at the same time just jacked up
(15:45):
that Randy Johnson just got.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
A no itter. It's just the craziest moment man, before
we go to break. Do you want to relive that?
Speaker 5 (15:51):
Man?
Speaker 3 (15:51):
Suppls relive that moment?
Speaker 6 (15:53):
Man all alone with himself, but not all alone. Here
has twenty four thousand incredibly rabbit Mariner fans are looking
for that final strike that will set malwn her history.
Speaker 3 (16:05):
Here comes the left handers wine the young two pitch
on the way signor he has done Hi.
Speaker 7 (16:12):
Basketball, Randy Johnson being mob by Scott Bradley, down the greed.
Speaker 6 (16:17):
Even the entire Mariner team.
Speaker 7 (16:20):
Here on the second of June and then fifty one
specific daylight time, Randy Johnson with the first baron of
no hitter in history and they are going crazy. Everybody
so winning the talles fan to ever put on a
uniform in the history of baseball, Randy Johnson has done it.
Speaker 3 (16:40):
He is now hit to de Droy Tigers tonight two
to nothing. My, oh my, and nine sixty one.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
My ass was on the Kingdom four because I.
Speaker 3 (16:51):
I'm falling and I can't get up.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
Oh man, we got to talk a little u Top
fifty players of all time, Shawks releasing their Top fifty,
and that guy thinking about a poll that I put
out this week. I'll talk about it coming up next
on ninety three point three KJRFM.
Speaker 6 (17:06):
Broad Testing Live from the R and R Foundation Specialist
Broadcast Studio. Now back to Saftie and Dick, powered by
Emerald Queen Casino, the Vetting and.
Speaker 3 (17:16):
Capital of the Northwest on.
Speaker 6 (17:17):
Sports Radio ninety three point three kJ r FM.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
Well, Jackson, I kind of stirred up a hornet's nest.
What'd you do?
Speaker 8 (17:29):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (17:29):
Saturday night, on the way home from Mission Impossible, I
was on my phone. I wasn't to take it. It's
the greatest movie of all time, and then SOFTI sent
the no nothing to do. Nothing to do with Mission Impossible.
It was a hell of a movie, though you'll you'll
like it.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
But I was just I don't even know what got
me thinking about this, but I started thinking about the
top Seahawks of all time, which, coincidentally enough, today they
came out with an email saying we're giving out our
top fifty seahawks.
Speaker 3 (17:59):
Of all time this week.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
And so it was that that was total coincidence that
I actually sent this poll out on Saturday night and
I just thought about the top hawks and I listed
them out in chronological order to win they play largent easily.
Tez Walt Hutch, Alexander sherm Earl Cam Bobby Marshawn.
Speaker 3 (18:27):
There's eleven names right there. Yeah, there's one I didn't mention. No,
there there was a couple you didn't mention. You're interesting,
all right. Well, the one that I was thinking I
didn't mention that you can tell me yours was Russell Wilson.
Speaker 6 (18:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
Now I'm not saying that Russell doesn't belong in the
top ten, but I asked the question to the pollsters
whether Russell belonged in the top ten, and I wanted
to And the reason I wrote those names down because
I wanted everybody to look at the names and not
just say, oh, is Russell top ten hawk of all time?
Because I think if I would have just put a
(18:59):
poll outside, is russa Hawk top ten hawk of all
the time, I think it would have been like eighty
five to fifteen yes. But I put the names out
because I wanted people to look at the names and say,
is Russ better than Steve Loe?
Speaker 3 (19:10):
Right, that's the course.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
Rush better than Walt? Is he better than Tez? Is
he better than Shuram? Is he better than Bobby? Is?
Speaker 3 (19:16):
Like, there's a lot of dudes that Russ ain't better.
Then that's the question.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
And the final result of the vote was fifty four
forty six, fifty yes, fifty four yes, fifty four to
forty six yes. And it's a ton of comments below.
Most of them had to do with Hutch and like,
you know, the poison pill and stuff like that. I
(19:42):
was like, but, okay, but Hutch is a Hall of Famer.
Hutch is the best guard in Seahawk history, and he's
it was, just like, the best left guard in football.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
It ultimately comes down to longevity and how much longevity
matters in this comment. I mean, the same goes for
a You're true and frankly, the question is how much
does the longevity of Russell Wilson matter in the debate
of greatest of all time?
Speaker 3 (20:06):
And maybe the position of quarterback as well.
Speaker 1 (20:08):
How much do you give the position of quarterback a
bump maybe, kind of like the conversation that that Andrews
and I were having with cal Raley, like how much
how much do you give when comparing like a cal
Raley to an Aaron Judge?
Speaker 3 (20:22):
How much of a bump do you give cal Ray because.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
Aaron Judge isn't squatting down every single game catching one
hundred and thirty pitches.
Speaker 3 (20:28):
Good question, you know, So.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
How much of a bump do you give Russell Wilson?
So what was the name that you were thinking about?
The only one I'd add was be Tyler Lockett.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
I think Tyler Lockett for the longevity, and he's the
second best receiver in Seahawk history, I think, across a
lot of categories, right behind Steve Largent. But I you know,
i'd have Lockett above Blades Baldwin. I don't think. I
don't think anybody touches him for two. That's not any
the name that I would add a big time.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
I mean, Lockett was an all Pro specialty. You know,
I don't believe he was ever an All Pro wide receiver.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
No, Yeah, And I think that's fair. I think we
can kind of just look again at the longevity.
Speaker 3 (21:07):
We can look at the numbers.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
We can look at his impact over the years. I
mean I would personally to the list you threw out.
I'm not saying he's above Russell. I'm just saying I
would add him to that list. The interesting the interesting
question is kind of rolling through him. I mean this
is if I had a bell, maybe I can look
up a bell sound effect. We can kind of go
through and we can say, you know, if we think.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
That, well, certain guys are above or not the first
few largent tes Walter, forget.
Speaker 3 (21:33):
About it in no way me just like that.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
You can't even you can't even Russell doesn't even not
in the same stratosphere. Yeah, with those three guys, then Bobby,
I think Bobby is in that stratosphere.
Speaker 3 (21:46):
I agree.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
So there's four guys that Russe isn't even in the
st same stratosphere. Then you have to make the decision.
All right, All these guys are that multiple time pro bowler,
but not not quite Hall of Fame worthy.
Speaker 3 (22:02):
Some may get in. I mean, Easily's in right, Easily's
in the I believe Easily's in the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 2 (22:07):
Easily right now would be kind of the one I'd
struggle against I think I'd go easily because he's already
in the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 1 (22:14):
Against Russell, I think I would too. Yeah, so there's one, two, three,
there's five. You're already not in the top five.
Speaker 3 (22:20):
Well yeah, I think that's clear. Yeah, so says keep going.
Then it's probably Shurm. I think I think Russell's above
Shirm because of the longevity.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
Then Russell's above Earl. Then if I would also agree
with that, and then you think Russell's above Cam two. See,
this is where it goes to impact.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
I mean Cam Chancellor should have been a Super Bowl
MVP if if it was Seattle fans voting. Cam Chaliccer
is the MVP of Super Bowl, probably so ultimately because
of the impact, because he set a tone. It's sort
of as it's the Marshawn Lynch idea too, Like the
dude set a tone. He set away about which the
(22:58):
team plays and and by that regard, I might have Cam.
Speaker 3 (23:04):
Above above Russell Wilson. Then there's Marshawn, Hutch and Alexander.
Those are the other three. Alexander definitely above. Uh, I
mean Sean Lexander's got a hundred Shaan.
Speaker 2 (23:15):
Alexander above marsha Lynch above, and so right now we
would kind of add the names here holes I have Cam,
I have Marshawn, I have Sewn Alexander, and then the
really tough one for me is Hutchinson. I'm gonna go
Russell Wilson above Hutchinson. So I guess that means I
have Russell Wilson at number nine.
Speaker 3 (23:31):
I think that's fair. I think it's fair.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
I think bottom of the top ten is right. And
there's you know, there's a lot of comments on the poll,
and a lot of them are you know, some are
like I've got Russell at eleven and nobody can convince
me otherwise, you know, and then another guy's like, he's like, absolutely,
this is a dumb discussion, you know. So there's a
lot of good.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
Arguments to say that Richard Sherman's above Russell Wilson and
to say that Hutchinson could. I don't wouldn't blame a
single Seaguk fan if they say that those two guys
are above Russell Wilson. I also wouldn't blame anybody if
they say Russ Wilson's number five. I would have a
problem if they say that he cracks large and tz Yes, Walter,
Bobby or Bobby. If you say Russell's above any one
of those four, I have a problem.
Speaker 1 (24:10):
With interesting, a problem with you, not just take I've
got a problem with you. All right, So what do
you think four nine, four or five one?
Speaker 3 (24:17):
I think this will be fascinating for textimonials four nine,
four or five one.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
If you voted in that poll, how did you vote?
If you didn't vote in that pole, how how would
you vote? And where where is he on that pantheon?
Jackson and I are pretty much in cahoots right about
nine ish? Is there anybody currently who could challenge that
top ten?
Speaker 2 (24:37):
Anybody on this current Seahawk team other than I mean,
like Witherspoon's it. Witherspoon is finding the one guy.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
Witherspoon's probably the only guy, which is which is kind
of frustrating when you think about it. That's point because
and I think that's probably why the PFF rankings that
we talked about on Friday are solo for the Seahawks
and they have him as a twenty second best rosters
because there's not a there's no super superstar, yeah, and
there's not a lot of stars. There's just a lot
(25:03):
of good players on the Seahawks. They have a good roster,
which is why I think they should rank higher than
twenty second.
Speaker 3 (25:09):
But they just don't have dudes who's the best player
on the Seahawks offense right now? And the fact the
fact that.
Speaker 2 (25:19):
Ladies and gentlemen did thing just took a couple extra
seconds to think about that is a problem. I mean,
and it's not the problem of saying, oh, there's so
many good players, We're to say, well, Kenneth Walker can't
stay healthy.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
Well, you know JS and but he's still early in
his career. JSN one, he caught a hundred balls. Yeah,
it's just based on that one. You can't even you know,
lock it in. You have to think through, to think through.
I didn't want to make my answer too quick, but
I but now thinking about it, I still think. I
still think jsaid, I still believe that Ken Walker is
(25:51):
a top ten running back in then if.
Speaker 3 (25:53):
He stays healthy.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
And that's why we can't even include him on this discussion,
because the dude can't stay healthy.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
But the only guy on this roster Witherspoon, Witherspoon and
potentially JSN potential. I can see where JSN blows by
Tyler Lockett is the second best wide receiver in Seahawks history.
Speaker 3 (26:10):
Possible. I can see that absolutely happening.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
I mean, was he like twenty, Yes, it's very possible
if but again, he's got to have the longevity of
Tyler Lockett, which takes a long time, continue to get
the contracts, continue to have the production.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
That's a lot to ask.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
And especially since I mean, as we've talked about, especially
with Hugh, like the number of targets and the number
of receptions and the number that that JSN put up
last year, I don't know if he's gonna be able
to replicate that without DK metcalf.
Speaker 3 (26:37):
In this offense.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
That's gonna be a very very good question. He's twenty
three years of age. He will play this entire year
as a twenty three year old.
Speaker 3 (26:45):
It's impressive. That's impressive. Four nine, four or five one
On the text line, we got fun with audio coming
up next. It's now time for something in Dick's run
with Audio.
Speaker 6 (26:55):
Jimmy g pawn Star, Jimmy mister garoppolo now, but fun with.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
Audio, alright, let's have some fun with audio. Shelley, Hey Jackson,
did you hear that. What's that, Dick.
Speaker 1 (27:07):
Well, we'll get to more of Inside the NBA on
TNT audio later today because we got some great stuff
to play for you with Chuck and Kenny and all
the rest of those guys. But first, Inside the NBA
host Ernie Johnson was awarding Pacers head coach and former
Sonics color commentator. By the way, yes, indeed really I
worked with them over at the Sonics Rick Carlisle with
the Eastern Conference Championship trophy. When Rick grabbed the microphone
(27:31):
from Ernie and said this.
Speaker 3 (27:33):
Rick, congratulations, good luck in the NBA finals.
Speaker 9 (27:36):
Ernie, I just want to say congratulations to TNT on
a fabulous, unbelievable run that's coming to an end. We're
all very sad about that, but you're a man of
great pass Congrats.
Speaker 3 (27:52):
Thank you so much. Rick, I appreciate you. Thank you.
It's a cool night, no question about it. Carlisle is
a great guy. It was so he Jackson.
Speaker 1 (28:00):
We went from the George carl like everything's high strung, yeah,
you know, to Paul Westfall like the most chill persona
maybe of any coach I've ever seen of a major organization.
And Rick Carlisle doing color commentary with Case, and he
was just like Rick super chill, Paul Westfall super chill.
Speaker 3 (28:19):
So we just went from we went from up here
with carl to just like way down here with Paul
and Rick Carlisle. But it was a totally different vibe.
It was a very comfortable vibe to go into the
Fortado Center to cover practices. Right, all those seems really chilling.
I just I love it.
Speaker 2 (28:34):
Also, Ernie Johnson had like the like, Okay, listen, he's
gonna try to take the microphone.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
Something could go bad.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
Who cares, Let's let him do it, Yes, exactly, Well, yeah,
he fought him taking the microphone a couple of different times,
and finally Rick just grabbed it from him.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
Hey, Jackson, hear that. Oh we got some sad news.
Speaker 1 (28:51):
John Brancus, creator and host of the six time Emmy
Award winning show Sports Science, passed away yesterday at the
age of fifty four after battling depression. Let's go back
to twenty twelve, and Brincus allowed himself to get trucked
by who is Josh Jacobs now Brandon Jacobs, Brandon Jacob,
Brandon Jacobs in order to see the science behind how
(29:11):
hard the Giants running back hits players.
Speaker 10 (29:13):
Brandon Jacobs as sixty four two sixty four is the
biggest running back in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (29:21):
But how much force does he generate when breaking a tackle?
Speaker 10 (29:26):
To find out how hard Brandon hits, I'm gonna let
him plow me over at shot force. I'll be outfitted
with an accelerometer which will measure the force Brandon delivers
when he hits me.
Speaker 3 (29:39):
Okay you ready, John three two one.
Speaker 10 (29:43):
Go oh, our censor show that Brandon ran over me
with nearly twenty five hundred pounds of force.
Speaker 3 (29:54):
On bottom line at running back, Brandon Jacob's.
Speaker 10 (29:57):
Size and speed, He's a combination in the NFL has
never seen first sports science on ESPN.
Speaker 3 (30:05):
I'm John Brinkers.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
Well rest in peace, John Brancas. There is no way
that you would have gotten me to do that. Oh,
stand in front of a freight train like Brandon Jacobs.
Speaker 3 (30:15):
Just insane behavior.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
I mean, like for me, like I maybe it was
just because when I was a kid, when sports science
was doing its thing from like six through twenty twelve,
I want to say, and like I love it too,
just the really interesting stuff, the analytical things and you know,
more of an actual science behind the hits and stuff. Yep,
rest in peace, John Bracers. Brilliant and illustrated sports in
(30:41):
a way that I did.
Speaker 3 (30:43):
Yes, very very unique show. Hey, Jack, didn't you hear this?
What's that? Dick?
Speaker 2 (30:47):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (30:47):
This is a good one.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
You know. The Oregon Ducts baseball teams ranked twelve in
the country, Jackson, They are absolutely supposed to just roll, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
Roll people in advance to the to the College World Series.
Well they're not twelve anymore.
Speaker 1 (31:01):
They were in the Eugene Regional Jackson, which means I
believe they were playing at home.
Speaker 3 (31:06):
They were.
Speaker 1 (31:08):
They had an elimination game against you, not Michigan, not Florida,
not Tennessee.
Speaker 3 (31:15):
Good old cal Poly from Sam Louis Obispo. Let's go
cal Poly.
Speaker 1 (31:19):
Yeah, I got a lot of friends on the cal
Poly swim team. The Ducks were at home, heavy favorites.
Here was the ESPN final call, Jack.
Speaker 8 (31:27):
Torres trying to finish it off for the Mustangs.
Speaker 3 (31:30):
Hey, does the cal Poly Mustangs finish it off? As
Jake Torres drives out the side in.
Speaker 5 (31:41):
The night.
Speaker 8 (31:43):
And cal Poly gets to hang around in Oregon, the
home team in this regional and the top seed. The
number twelve national seed is eliminated.
Speaker 2 (31:56):
We know what the zero stands for, right, No, boy,
do they have any baseball? I don't want to say
that it stands for their baseball. Now I know Oregon
State has a national championship. I do not know if
I don't think Oregon Oregon baseball, and see if they've
ever done anything at.
Speaker 3 (32:14):
All, OSU Baseball want to probably fifteen issues. Here we go.
Speaker 2 (32:18):
They have one College World Series appearance in nineteen fifty four.
They've won the regional three times, including last year, and
in twenty twenty three. They've made the NCAA tournament. It
looks like about ten to eleven times. They've won the
conference tournament one time. But Dick, I do not see
(32:39):
a single national championship. Put those hands up, Jackson. Let's
see the logo stands for just like it doesn't.
Speaker 1 (32:46):
Football and Gentlemen's exactly right. The Beeves actually have three.
I didn't realize that I've had the Beams had won.
The Beeves got three national they've always produced. Really, Jacoby
Ellsbury right was from there.
Speaker 2 (32:58):
It was a.
Speaker 3 (32:58):
Maori of the years. So absolutely all right, we got
one more what's hey, Jackson? You hear that? What's that? Dick?
On Saturday Mets broadcast.
Speaker 1 (33:05):
I love the Mets broadcast on Sportsnet and New York
Gary Cone and Keith Hernandez are just awesome. Gary Cohen
did a sponsor read for the ed drug blue Chew
and It confused Keith Hernandez by blue Shoe chew it and.
Speaker 3 (33:20):
Do It added by your local Tri State area AUDI dealers.
What did you mean by that? I just read the
copy here.
Speaker 11 (33:31):
I try to give it a good read, Try and
give the advertiser everything that they paid for. Keith and
love It's somebody else's problem. I mean I didn't read
it well. Did you always your your channel God pro.
Speaker 3 (33:46):
Chew it and do It?
Speaker 2 (33:47):
I mean, yeah, boy, that's that was a complicated ad read.
He really had to execute that with all of his uh,
with all of his skill.
Speaker 3 (33:54):
Oh man, we couldn't go a day without Hugh breed
Love Millan. Even though he's not technically co hosting with
us today, we will chat with him for the next
forty five minutes next on ninety three point three KJFM
