Speaker 1 (00:00):
Where where do we start?

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Man, There's a lot of stuff to actually kick around
this afternoon. We are inside the Emerald Quink Casino Sportsbook
until five. It's hot outside, where it's cool inside. The
ac is running, the bar is open, the sportsbooks happen.
Come down, Bet the US Open, Bet the Finals, Bet
the NBA Finals on Wednesday. Thunder getting it done in
game two not a surprise to anybody. I'm telling you, man,

(00:26):
I just got this bad feeling that Game one may
have been as good as it's gonna get for the
Indiana Pacers, Serius.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
Talk, no question about it.

Speaker 4 (00:34):
I mean, I think I think yesterday, actually thought yesterday
was gonna be a bigger blow up than it actually was.
I think if you would have given me the Thunder
minus twenty, I might have taken that as well. But
the problem with Indiana is they've just got out to
such terrible starts, so they spend the entire game trying
to chip away at a fifteen to twenty point deficit.

(00:55):
And it happened late in game number one did not
happen yesterday, but it just kind of stayed. The whole
game was just kind of lived from fifteen to twenty
points down and you can't do that. And hopefully in
game number three they won't start like that because they'll
get the they'll get the fuel from the home crowd.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Well, I agree with what Jackson said Friday that no
lead is safe against Indiana, right, But you also just
can't show up in a bank on that right that, Hey.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
No prod.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
It's like the Mariners.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Typically they'll come out and they suck in April, May
and June, then rely on some unbelievable furious comeback to
either make the playoffs or fall short in September October.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
So yeah, it'd be.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
Nice if they could maybe show up from the first
quarter on Wednesday night in Indiana.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
But I don't know. We were talking about this offt
the year.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
I wasn't planning on bringing this up, but apparently this
is a thing now, And I guess I brought it
up because I saw my old pal.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Joe Fann, Remember the name Joe Fann. You know what
he's doing.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Now, by the way, Well, he was doing a show
in Vegas.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Well he's not doing the show anymore.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
He's out of media altogether except for social media. Okay,
he got married to a hot blonde. I think she's
a blonde, very attractively. He's a good looking guy and
he lives in Vegas. I think he's selling houses now.
So yesterday I noticed this tweet from Joe Fan. It's
actually two days ago.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
Sorry.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
He says, the amount of Julio Rodrigez slander on this
app is insane to me. Are there lightning rod quotes
that I've missed? Dude doesn't beef with anyone, has fun
playing baseball, and seems to handle adversity incredibly well.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
I don't get it, says Joe Fan.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
So I guess my question to you guys to start
off the show is this because Mark James has talked
about this on the air.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
I think we've talked.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
About it a little bit about Julio and what he's
done the last couple of years since he signed the contract.
I mean, Bill Krueger has set on record he thinks
they signed him too soon, right to that deal.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
It was like.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Halfway through his rookie year when they gave him that
new contract. So he's he's, you know, shared his take
on it. Is there an inordinate amount of Julio Rodriga
slander on social media? And if there is, is it unfair?
Is it unjustified? And what is the slander that Joe

(03:00):
Fan is speaking of? You tell me, well, I mean
we hear it from you sometimes.

Speaker 4 (03:05):
I mean because you you talk about the rankings that
Julio has in certain you know, in certain areas, and
you know, right now, I'm looking at a guy with
the sixteenth best war in Major League Baseball because he
does it defensively. And uh, you know, I look at
this baseball team and I see so many more disappointments.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
Before I get to Julio Rodriguez.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
It's like having a having a classroom of you know,
I'm a teacher. I got a classroom of kids, and
twenty of them are getting d's or f's disappointment. And
and then then Julio, Yeah, just tell me, go ahead.
I'm only gonna I can much easier tell you the
guys that are not as big A.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
No, no, no, no, I no. I want you to tell me, honestly, Dick,
I'm not trying to be a smart aster. There's there's
a there's a point to this. There's there's a methodism.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
The figure disappointment.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
I'm asking you, what what positions have you been more disappointed?

Speaker 1 (03:56):
In and and look, just timeout for a second.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
I'm not saying that you're wrong that there's other positions
that are more disappointing. I just want to go over them. Okay,
tell me, tell me what the positions.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
Are, more players.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
I've been more disappointed with every position other than shortstop
and catcher.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
Sure, okay, so Cal Riley and JP Crofts are exceeding. Okay,
so the other positions you mean positions, not.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Players, position door players.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
Well, but that's totally different, because if you're telling me
that you're more disappointed in Hori Polanco, I would say, well,
what did you expect?

Speaker 5 (04:29):
Right?

Speaker 3 (04:29):
Horror expect.

Speaker 4 (04:32):
Entirely Again, I'll go back. I'll go back to the
teacher analogy. If I've got twenty d's and f's, I
got one A plus in my classroom, Okay, and I've
got a couple of guys at BE or B minus,
I'm not gonna worry as much about the BB minus kids,
even though they're like my star pupils. I might say, hey,
you know, let's just bring it up a little bit.
But I mean what I just say it was fifteen

(04:53):
sixteenth and Warren in baseball.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
But here's my point, though you're you're telling me that
you're more disappointed in second base, You're more disappointed third base.
You're more disappointed in first base left and right than
you are in center field.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
Right.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Okay, and you put it that way, that's I totally
agree with that. But look at who they signed. I mean,
they signed Rowdy freakin' Teals. They brought back Hore Polanco,
who was the schnook that started at third base.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
When the year began, it.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
Was Polonko Polanco was your third baseman, and then Dylan
Moore was at second base. Wasn't there some other hack
that was at second base who has already been let go?

Speaker 1 (05:32):
I didn't know who these guys are anymore.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
So my point is, yes, to be more disappointed in
what you're getting production wise from those positions. I absolutely
thousand percent concorder with that entirely. But as Jackson just said,
what your were your expectations? I mean, when when Rowdy
te Lez got signed, we were like, who, who the

(05:54):
hell is this guy? He was a free agent for
six months. Nobody wanted a damn thing to do with him.
Polonco Off the scrap peep, It's gonna be your third
basement at seven and a half Milligan, Dobby. My expectations
for those guys were in the gutter when the year began,
maybe not for the positions, but for the players they
signed to take those spots.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
Apps a freaking lily.

Speaker 6 (06:14):
Next And that's why it's hard to be disappointed into
something that, especially this last I mean, sure we were
over the moon on so much, but after May, it's
just hard to be disappointed when it's just reverting back
to we saw this all coming.

Speaker 7 (06:26):
I said it on Friday and I'll say it again.

Speaker 6 (06:28):
This team is who we thought they were at the
start of the season, and they had an overwhelmingly amazing
April and then a very disappointing May, and we're now
starting to see that these numbers are exactly who they are.

Speaker 7 (06:40):
This is who Horne Polanco is.

Speaker 6 (06:42):
And even you look at Horay Planco's numbers as of
this moment, if you had at the start of the
season said on June ninth, Horree Polanco will do this,
I am signing up for that, because even this is
an improvement overall. Of course, the first two months of
the season off of what we expected, but you look
at the first pace position, you look at second and base,
you look at those other spots. You know, even Randy

(07:02):
a rosarated two. It's what you expected. It's impossible to
be disappointed when it's just the mediocrity.

Speaker 7 (07:10):
That you expected.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Well, I just think this about Julio. He's doing some
really good things. There's no question about that. He's playing
great defense. You mentioned overall his wars, what in baseball
sixteenths or whatever.

Speaker 4 (07:22):
I mean, he's on pace. He's on pace for over
a seven war. That'd be the best war season of
his career.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
Is that?

Speaker 2 (07:27):
Is that in the Is that in Major League? Or
is that in the American League? Okay, so yeah, that's fine.
But the day that they signed him to that contract
and we talked about all of those MVP markers that
he could get to, he's nowhere near any of those
right now.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
That's right, And I don't.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
Think that's slander.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
I mean, if just kind of just discussing what we're
seeing in front of our face is known as slander,
if not going on the air and being you know,
a full on bag dad Bob for somebody is akin
to slander, then I'm sorry, I'm not doing this anymore.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
If that's what people want out of this job.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
Well, they think there's a difference between somebody going on
social media and slamming a guy. He's a bum, he's
a loser, you cut him, heb brings nothing to the table.
And then somebody's saying and I'll defend myself. I guess
for not that they need I need to. But he's
been a disappointment offensively since he signed that cop. I
mean to me, Dick, I would just hope that there's

(08:27):
certain things that we can agree on, and I would
really hope that that is one thing that we can
agree on. Julio Rodriguez is still a player that you
want on your roster. I'm still a guy that a
lot of teams would love to have for twenty million dollars,
which is not a lot of money anymore in Major
League Baseball. Okay, if there's anybody out there who's gonna
sit there and tell you that twenty million is not

(08:48):
a lot of money, it's gonna be me, because I
was the one that was bitching and moaning about not
giving more contracts out like that to guys two or
three years ago, In five or six years from now,
the amount of money Julio's making on that long term
contract is gonna look like peanuts. So I have no
problem with the money Julio's being paid. I just think
to not admit that he's been a little bit of

(09:09):
a downer offensively since he signed that contract.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
I mean, that's that's crazy.

Speaker 4 (09:13):
And I'd say since he signed that contract, because really
I only think he's had one disappointing season, and that
was last year. I will I am fine with his
rookie year six war in his rookie year, thirty two bombs,
one hundred and three RBIs in his second year, then
he signs the contract right then he has a down,
flat out down year last year, But at right now,

(09:34):
where he's at, if he just plays July August in September, sure,
the way he normally plays July, August and September, he's
gonna have like it. But he's done it every year,
even last year when he struggled. I mean, he's got
like eight war thirty home runs, one hundred RBIs square
in the face again, if he just does what he

(09:56):
normally does when it heats up.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
You're talking about what's happening starting tomorrow. I'm talking about
what we've seen so far in the first two months
of the year.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
I've been okay with him this year. Oh yeah, I've
been okay with him. I haven't. I've been okay with him.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
I think he's phenomenal defensively, I'll give you all that.
I think everything you're talking about is absolutely accurate. But
to not admit for me that there's a little bit
to be desired offensively out of him. I think the
Mariners need more out of him, and I think they
also need more out of their front office.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
Hell, you're exactly right.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
I mean to go out and surround I mean, what
where would Julio Rodriguez and Cal Raley b if they
surrounded him with legitimate major league talent at first base,
second base, and third base? And where would they be
if they shit these guys more protection in the lineup?
So that that's part of it here, Dick, there's part
of its question about the mobile.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
I mean, if Julio Rodriguez is playing anywhere else, he
doesn't have close to the numbers that he has.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
But yeah, but I mean that's kind of what it
is though. I mean, he's a Mariner, right like, but.

Speaker 4 (10:55):
We compare him to other hit When you say he's
one hundred and third in ops, you are comparing him
to the other hit plays places where it's a lot
easier to be.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
But that's what his job is. His job is to
hit at t Mobile Park.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
I'm not really in the mood you can do that,
and that's totally fine, and there's logic behind that. I'm
not in the mood to sit around and say, well,
let's lower the expectations because the guy plays at Tmobile Park.
I mean, cal Rawley is a phenomenal hitter on the
road and at home. His power numbers are very similar.
I think if you look him up, you'll find that
out that his power numbers are very similar on the
road and at home. And that I don't even I mean,

(11:29):
look that that's what cal Rawley does. But when Julio
Rodriguez was signed, and again I feel like there's just
a group of Mariner fans out there that just don't
want to hear anything remotely critical of Julia Rodrigaez whatsoever.
And if you are critical and you are acknowledging the
shortcomings offensively of Julio, then it's some kind of slander.

(11:53):
It's just like what happened to us. That's crazy, you know,
I mean, what, what what world do we live in
where we can't even look at a guy who's one
hundred and third no ps forty sixth then bombs fifty
ninth in RBIs not even in the top hundred no
ps in baseball, not even coming close to it, to
reaching any of those markers. The Mariners putting his contract

(12:14):
for the MVP. Not an aircraft carrier right now, offensively,
There's no question about that. Whatever your definition of an
aircraft carrier is, I don't think he's that. He doesn't
come across as a major threat right now at the
plate offensively the way some other players do. I guess
I just thought, and maybe my expectations for him were
out of whack to begin with, Dick, and I think
a lot of people that might be my fault, but

(12:35):
I think I think, well, I think when they signed
him to that massive contract, and when they signed him
to that deal, we thought he was going to be
elite offensive massive.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
When you when you say massive, you mean years, not money.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
Right now, well, the the money for a kid like
that who hadn't proven anything after three or four months
was pretty damn unique. I mean, not even the Padres
did that with Tatis, and the Braves didn't even do
that with Acunya. They waited a little bit longer before those,
before they gave those guys that kind of deal. Not
even a rod got that contract when he was here

(13:08):
in Seattle and they gave him a contract to buy
out arbitration. But I think when you, I think when
you just make that kind of a commitment to somebody,
and again there is a little bit of symbolism for
me that comes along with that, where you're thinking, this
guy is going to be illegal, and God, I wish
we could go back. This is the one thing about
my brain that bothers me. I want to go back,
and I want to be able to tap all of

(13:28):
our heads the day they signed the contract and then
ask you on that day, what did you expect two and.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
A half years later out of Huio Rodriguez.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
And I think if I would have told you Jackson
on that day, this is what's going to happen, I
think you would have been disappointed.

Speaker 6 (13:44):
I think I would have been disappointed too, because simply
because of what we had seen from to that point
when we had signed, I mean, we just didn't have
enough of a sample size, I think to see the
whole picture of Julia Rodoriguez actually is. And now we
kind of see that he's listen, he's in a above
average offensive player. He's a great defender, and that's I listen,

(14:05):
that's fine. I was I don't know if I was
expecting those room for that. Yeah, exactly, like I think,
it's okay. But it's interesting you look at the home
road numbers. I mean, to Dick's point, it's kind of
crazy that for a hundred points op it's exactly, it's
one hundred points in the OPIA, thirty points lower batting
average at home. But here is the glaring thing, the
most glaring thing. Seventeen strikeouts on the road, thirty eight

(14:28):
at home. And that's in roughly the same you know,
only about eight different plate appearances. So we're talking about
more than double the strikeouts at home.

Speaker 7 (14:36):
I mean, gotta figure this thing out.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
I don't know if that.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
Hell ever, is that part of the why you signed
him because you thought he could handle that. I mean,
if you're if you're an elite player, you're an elite player.
And I'm not saying that Julio needs to be hitting
you know, three thirty at T Mobile Park.

Speaker 1 (14:53):
That's not what I'm asking for. But what are his
numbers overall?

Speaker 3 (14:56):
At home? In front?

Speaker 6 (14:57):
Here, he's batting two thirty five. At home, the ops
is six eighty two. Yeah, I mean they get in
thirty eight strikeouts.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
Yeah, I mean it's not good enough.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
I mean he I mean again, if he's gonna be
a Mariner, you know, for life, then in your starting
center fielder, then you need more production at T Mobile Park.
I mean, you want to sign guys that can perform
at this stadium. And it's hard. It's really hard to
hit there, Dick. No one's gonna fight you on that.
That's a thousand percent accurate statement. Absolutely hard to hit there.

(15:26):
But that's what makes some of these players unique and
stars is that they can do it right.

Speaker 3 (15:31):
They can hit at Tiamobile Park.

Speaker 4 (15:32):
I just look at when he signed that contract and
in August late August of twenty twenty two, and what
he did since then, I mean September of twenty twenty two,
he had an ops of one point one point eight nine.

Speaker 3 (15:43):
He absolutely went bonkers.

Speaker 4 (15:45):
And then in twenty twenty three he had thirty home
runs in over one hundred RBIs it.

Speaker 1 (15:50):
Was last year.

Speaker 3 (15:51):
I mean, we're really taught.

Speaker 4 (15:52):
I think we're really talking about one season where Julia
Rodriguez did not hit the ball.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
Well, I'm talking about right now what he's doing today.
I'm not even talking about what he did last year
or the year before, the sophomore season that he had
over all the numbers. I think you're right, you take
that all day until Sunday. I'm talking about right now.
I'm talking about a baseball team that, let's face it,
is having a hard time scoring runs right now, correct,
And my fear is that we're going to morph back

(16:18):
into what we've been the last three or four year,
which is a pitching dominant or hopefully close to pitching
staff that can't score runs and you know, needs to
scratch out every single win that they can because everything's
fricking hard.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
So I don't know. I mean, guys, again, I just.

Speaker 2 (16:36):
If we can't even just acknowledge what's happening in front
of our face, and if you want to paint a
different picture using analytics, then that's fine. You know, go
down the rabbit hole, find numbers that back up an argument,
and do whatever you gotta do, But.

Speaker 3 (16:47):
Not finding random numbers we're finding like war right.

Speaker 1 (16:50):
But but again, are you are you? Are you please?
Are you?

Speaker 2 (16:55):
Are you disappointed with the offensive production that you're getting
from who we are?

Speaker 3 (17:00):
Rod Rigaez? Right now? I would like to see more.

Speaker 4 (17:03):
I would like to be I'll tell you what I
would like from Julio Rigaz.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
I would like to call that thought right because we
got it. There's there's more meat on the Julio bone.
All right, God that sounds weird. Next on ninety three
three kJ R FM.

Speaker 8 (17:15):
On casting live from the R and R Foundation specialist
broad Jast Studio. Now back to Safti and Dig powered
by Emerald Queen Casino, the betting capital of the Northwest,
on Sports Radio ninety three point three kJ r FM.

Speaker 2 (17:30):
All right, back here inside the Emerald Quick Casino Sports.
But come on down bet watch wager win on the
Stanley Cup Finals tonight, NBA Finals on Wednesday.

Speaker 3 (17:39):
What's the money line on that game? Three? Okay, Oh,
I just know what it is for the rest of
the series. What is it for the rest of the series.
That's the series is minus five hundred and plus four. Okay, Well,
let me see what it is. I'm looking here up.

Speaker 2 (17:53):
For give me the Thunder. What's the what's the money
line on Wednesday night? Is there is there a number
out for that for Wednesday? Can you see it there?

Speaker 3 (18:00):
First time? NFL find it all right? Well, I don't know.
Twenty five, Yeah, take the Thunder.

Speaker 1 (18:05):
Take the Thunder, come on.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
I mean, if they don't get it done, you know,
you put twenty five fifty bucks on me you lose it,
you'll be happy because the Pacers won. And if the
Thunder get her done, which they probably will be getting
it done, then you'll make a couple of bucks in
the process.

Speaker 3 (18:18):
So I kind of feel like it's the way I
approach it.

Speaker 4 (18:21):
I kind of feel like if the Pacers are gonna
cover the spread at mine at plus five and a half,
they're gonna win.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
Like, I don't see.

Speaker 4 (18:27):
I don't see the Thunder winning the game by less
than five. I think the Thunder either roll them or
the Pacers win the game. So I take the Pacers
on the money not line, not with the points.

Speaker 2 (18:38):
I don't know, dude, I just think again, either way,
you're a winner. Either the Pacers win or you got
a couple of bucks in your pocket. You you've got
so we've guaranteed some kind of positive in your life.

Speaker 3 (18:49):
Yes, I am. Okay, I am. And and if they lose,
I don't give it.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
Damn you series to win a good chunk either way
if they and you know what, if they don't win it,
I'll be even happy. I will be happy to give
up whatever I put on them to win the NBA Finals,
happy as a clam to do that.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
Trust me.

Speaker 2 (19:05):
Either, there's a lot of money that I would I
would write a check right now to whoever is responsible
for making sure these things happen, to make sure the
Thunder don't win the NBA title.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
And that's an essence what I'd be doing.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
So we got to pull out on Twitter, by the way,
I want to get to this Julio question, finish up
our conversation there. I just tossed it out on social
media here, just kind of getting people's thoughts on Julio
Rodriguez situation.

Speaker 3 (19:32):
Again.

Speaker 2 (19:32):
It's kind of becoming a little bit of a thing
on social media where if you criticize Wholi Rodrigez, you're
a jerk, you're a bad fan, you're a hater, blah
blah blah.

Speaker 3 (19:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (19:41):
I mean, if you've got anything critical to say about
who your Rodrigaez.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
You better keep it to yourself or the mom will
come after you.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
Since signing his contract, has Julio exceeded, met or fallen
short of expectations? The poll just launched its softy kJ
are one point six percent exceeded, somebody voted for exce exceeded.
Thirty two point eight percent say he's met expectations. It's
now thirty four point four and sixty four point five
say he's fallen short of expectations. So what what are

(20:09):
the expectations? What was the question I asked you? Well,
I was gonna go break. If you remember the question
I asked you.

Speaker 3 (20:15):
What what would you like to see from Juliaro? Yes,
that's what I asked you.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
That my memory is kind of fuzzy. Yeah, even seven
minutes later, I would say.

Speaker 4 (20:24):
I would like to feel much more confident when there's
runners on base and two outs that Julio's gonna come
through in those situations. And I just don't feel that confidence.
I feel that confidence when Cala Rally's up there. Hell,
I feel that confidence when JP Crawford's of there. Sure,
I don't feel that when Julio's up there and the
numbers would back it up. I mean right here, Baseball
Reference lay and close six' eighty nine, ops two outs

(20:47):
with runners on in scoring, position five to SEVENTY ops.

Speaker 3 (20:50):
And saying great clutch.

Speaker 2 (20:52):
Hitter guess what we were saying at this time of year,
ago same, thing the same fricking. Thing, well he was
just last played. Better he played better in this sec
and a. Half he played better In august And. September
AND i think those numbers last, year if you look
them up for last, Season, DICK i think they actually
looked pretty good when by the time the year was,
done you, know it's not gonna Be the crazy thing

(21:14):
about those types of numbers is there's not going to
be a boatload of opportunities for. Them so five or
six at bats either, way, right can really greatly influence
what your batting average and what YOUR ops looks like
in situations like.

Speaker 1 (21:30):
That but that was the exact same.

Speaker 2 (21:31):
CONVERSATION i guess that really to, me And i'm glad
that you said it like, that because that is the,
essence in a lot of ways of What i'm getting
at here THAT i think When Julio roriguez was a
rookie and they announced that, deal was it Like july
Or august of twenty two or whatever you're when they
announced that. Deal IF i would have looked at you and, said,
oh by the, way in three years from, now you're

(21:54):
going to be disappointed In Julio rodriguez in the clutch
and that he's not a guy that you can really
lean on to drive and runs when you need. HIM
i think that'd be a. Downer, yes, YEAH i think
saying that would be a. Downer and that's what's. Happening
and that's. OKAY i, mean the guy's twenty four years, Old.
Jackson there's gonna be holes in his. Game he's gonna
grow as a. Player but, again this idea that we

(22:17):
can't even just acknowledge What dick just said without fear
of somebody losing their freaking.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
MIND i, MEAN i don't give a.

Speaker 2 (22:24):
Damn you want to lose your, mind lose your, mind
but the fact that people actually do lose their minds is.

Speaker 6 (22:29):
Crazy as always in, life the truth is somewhere in the.
Middle it's not like, he's you, know absolutely in a
total failure and it's the. Middle truth is the fact
that he is an average to above average, player probably
an average, hitter and that's an okay. Thing it's it's
just it's, okay ladies and, gentlemen that would we say
that is not an aircraft. Carrier, obviously when we contract

(22:51):
was given, AGAIN i say WHAT i said, Before this
sample size was so. Small and the thing for me is,
like if you HAD i Want julia Rodary is AND
i wanted at the moment they signed his, contract AND
i still wanted him to be able to instill fear
in other, teams, right and when.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
Is he's doing?

Speaker 3 (23:08):
That?

Speaker 6 (23:08):
No and that's the, thing, like just make the other
team fear him at the. Plate and if he never
gets to that spot. Again if the where we Saw
julio the highest level is you, know pre signing the,
contract then so be. It but the good news is
that his contract is so, Incentive, leyden it's so built
in you gotta make you to make the money you

(23:29):
got to earn it That i'm kind of okay with
The Julio rodriguez that we have.

Speaker 7 (23:33):
Today, well you can say two.

Speaker 2 (23:35):
Things you can say the contract isn't killing the, team
and you can say that he's not medexpect exactly. RIGHT i,
mean both things can be accurate at the same, time And,
JACKSON i mean to me what you just said there
is also perfect that you want him to be a.

Speaker 1 (23:47):
Threat you want this guy to be a.

Speaker 2 (23:49):
Problem you want this guy to be an issue for
opposing offenses every time he or excuse, me pitching staffs
every time he comes to the, plate and that just
has not been happening consistently enough for. Me does he
have it in A absolutely he's got. IT i, mean,
hell we just hurt over the weekend him talk about
maybe one of the reasons why his mind maybe hasn't
been right because he's got a guy trying to rob,
him For god's, sakes, RIGHT i, mean it's been a

(24:12):
ROUGH i think we got to at least acknowledge the
fact that he's got he's got this issue hanging over his.
Head and maybe now with this cleared, UP i don't,
know IF i felt threatened every, night then someone's gonna
kick down my door and rob my house at gunpoint or.
Whatever my, GOD i totally get. That and you know
he has said that to. Us was it last year
or was it earlier this?

Speaker 3 (24:31):
Year that his last year.

Speaker 2 (24:33):
When he was on the air with us and he, said,
Look i'm still twenty three years. OLD i, mean sooner or,
later that's not going to, be you, know a conversation,
anymore but but it is for.

Speaker 4 (24:41):
NOW i just think part of it is That julio
is our. Guy he has always been our. Guy we
didn't get him from some other. Franchise and he's.

Speaker 3 (24:51):
Just such a good.

Speaker 4 (24:52):
Dude AND i still think And i'm glad fans give
good dudes the benefit of the of, course and so
and that's part of the reasons WHY i Give Julio
rodriguez been for the. Doubt but when you look back
at last, SEASON i, mean it was Really, April may
And june were so. Horrendous it was so much of
an outlier from anything else he's. Done and then the

(25:14):
rest of last, year even WHEN i, say, hey last
year was a bad year For Julio, rodriguez, Right june
was excuse, Me july was an eleven twelve? Ops whatw
Was April may And June's march for eighty Five april,
six twenty, Five may, six eighty, Eight june five seventy
four games parly a six hundred ops at this time last.

Speaker 1 (25:35):
Year how many games of The mariners missed the playoffs
by last.

Speaker 3 (25:38):
Season was it one or? Two? Two oh, yeah he totally.
Was one of the, reasons one of the major, reasons no.

Speaker 2 (25:44):
Question, again when you're the second highest paid player on
a baseball, team and you're the highest paid offensive player
on a baseball, team the expectations are there that you're
going to carry the, team that you're gonna be the best,
hitter you're gonna be the best, player you're gonna be
the guy that everybody looks to in the clutch to
win games for.

Speaker 3 (26:02):
You and like you, mentioned how many hasn't? Happened last
year was twenty.

Speaker 4 (26:05):
Three how many twenty three year olds in baseball are
supposed to be that guy?

Speaker 3 (26:09):
For not? Many not, many not.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
Many and again that's partly that's part of the criticism
of the front, office that you haven't put enough talent
around this guy and to vet everything out of him
that you. Deserve you want him to, perform then give
him some. Help it used to be The mariners haven't
done enough to help out who Your. Rodriguez now it's
The mariners aren't doing enough to help out Col. Ray

(26:33):
it's just it's unbelievable how it's just never. Enough it's never.
Enough so LOOK i mean it's Only june. Ninth they
got four months of baseball left to. Go there's plenty
of time for these guys to get. Hot there's a
couple of things that got to be figured, out you,
know The Ben williamson, future The Cole young, Future Mitch garver's.

Speaker 1 (26:51):
Future how long do you stick With?

Speaker 2 (26:52):
Polanko he played okay a week ago or last, week
but still not where he was In. APRIL i, Mean
april probably is going to be as good as it
that's for. HIM i can't imagine him having a better
month than that as the year goes. By so there
are a lot of other issues to work, out there's
no question about. That we're gonna break a little fun with,
audio and Then Hugh milan Joins Little more four With

(27:12):

florida coming up at five right here From.

That?

Speaker 2 (28:19):
Dick we start in Baseball yankee Manager Aaron, boone brother Of,
bett Joining John Boys Talking yanks podcast last week and
got into it with the Host Jake Story ellie.

Speaker 3 (28:30):
Over what to call the plural version OF.

Speaker 7 (28:33):
Rbi Aaron judge leads the team IN rbi with. Fifty it's,
well m RBIs with RBI's runs baded ends with.

Speaker 3 (28:45):
Fifty, well if you're gonna make that, argument shouldn't it BE? Rsbi? Oh?

Speaker 7 (28:49):
Boy who is?

Speaker 3 (28:51):
Second your baseball? Guy or is?

Speaker 8 (28:55):
One?

Speaker 4 (28:55):
Yeah there are guys the Are riby's, Yeah riby, Steaks, okay.

Speaker 2 (29:03):
Okay Kevin SHOCKING i used to get into this argument
all the. Time he would always, say it's NOT rb,
eyes IT'S RB. I. Okay, well sometimes things just are
the way they are because the opposite way sounds.

Speaker 4 (29:15):
Dumb that's exactly, Okay and they've been that way for
over a hundred. Years and And brett's exactly. Right if
you want to be Tex, Aeron oh, sorry, Brother aaron's exactly.
Right you want to be technical about it should be
OURS B i, then, right, right NOT, RBI i mean
not RB's I, well really.

Speaker 1 (29:33):
What it should be is rsb's eyes runs bad.

Speaker 3 (29:36):
In, yes it's it's.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
SINGULAR i, mean are how many? RBIs the plural version
OF rbi IS RB i that's.

Speaker 3 (29:44):
Story there are a lot of people out there that
that feel the same way as this.

Speaker 2 (29:49):
Dude and there's a lot of people that also think
rbies are dumb and a stupid way to kind of judge,
players and blah blah.

Speaker 3 (29:56):
Blah we kind of, are but we grew up with,
it so they're still to.

Speaker 2 (29:59):
US i, mean you, know getting hits with guys on
basis not a bad.

Speaker 3 (30:02):
Thing, YEAH i mean a pretty good. Thing it's it's.
Important it's just not as relatively important as other. Things,
no it's.

Speaker 2 (30:08):
Not but having how would you like to have a
guy with one hundred and forty five? Rbs case, Closed
end the story with all, right, Hey, dick did you.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
Happen to hear?

Speaker 3 (30:18):
That? Well what's? That? DICK? U? Two three or? Four?
Jackson tell me?

Speaker 1 (30:23):
Two all?

Speaker 2 (30:23):
Right friend of the, Show Former marlins President David. Sampson
we gotta get him on the. Here it's been too.
Long Joined Pablo tory And Dominic foxworth's podcast last. Week
Wasn't Pablo tory the one going out With Bill simmons
all week?

Speaker 1 (30:35):
Long or was that somebody? ELSE i think he?

Speaker 3 (30:37):
Was REMEMBER i remember he had The. JORDANS i thought
he got.

Speaker 1 (30:41):
It, yeah, yeah that was.

Speaker 3 (30:43):
Him it was a huge, deal.

Speaker 2 (30:45):
Joining the their podcast and talked about how far he
went to get votes for public money needed to build
a new stadium when he ran The marlins back in the.

Speaker 9 (30:54):
DAY i don't love the fact THAT i went into
an all black church trying to get votes for the,
stadium AND i stood up there AND i, said CAN
i get?

Speaker 6 (31:01):
It?

Speaker 7 (31:01):
AMEN i don't want, that BUT i.

Speaker 3 (31:04):
DID i didn't know that you did.

Speaker 7 (31:06):
That, OH i gave a whole. Sermon what the fuck does?

Speaker 9 (31:09):
THAT i gave a sermon to a major black church
In miami BECAUSE i needed their support for public money
for the. Ballpark so hold, ON i was the only
white guy in, There, JEWISH i Am, JEWISH i am
white solid.

Speaker 7 (31:26):
Okay so And i'm standing in my.

Speaker 9 (31:28):
SUIT i had the view THAT i had their, attention
and SO i built up to this crescendo AND i
look over at the.

Speaker 7 (31:34):
Bishop his name Was Bishop. Curry THEN i look out
at the. AUDIENCE i look back AND i look at the.
CROWD i, say CAN i get?

Speaker 6 (31:42):
It?

Speaker 9 (31:42):
Amen and THEN i walked out and it was an
awesome side. Note we got all the black commissioner.

Speaker 8 (31:49):
Votes oh so they did, say, oh.

Speaker 3 (31:52):
We got the.

Speaker 7 (31:53):
Amend we got the, post we got it.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
All how do you go to a church and ask
for money and not get? It by the, way, right
he could have gone to a. Synagogue he could have
gone to A buddhist. Temple he could have gone to your.
Church he could have gone To jackson's CHURCH i Guess
jackson's actually or.

Speaker 1 (32:08):
Whatever he could have.

Speaker 3 (32:09):
Gone to any.

Speaker 2 (32:10):
CHURCH i, mean it's like it's like when you go
to somebody and ask for, money like with a little
kid standing next to. You you, know of course they're
gonna say he guilted them into doing.

Speaker 1 (32:19):
It that's what he's basically.

Speaker 3 (32:20):
Admitting he guilted these.

Speaker 2 (32:22):
People in their house of worship into giving him money
for a baseball, stadium when a lot of, them who knows,
what wouldn't even know what the hell he is or
what he's doing.

Speaker 3 (32:31):
There good for him on that.

Speaker 4 (32:35):
GUY i have a great deal of respect that he
even had the guts to do. That whether it was
appropriate is a different, matter but the guts that was.

Speaker 2 (32:44):
Impressive why is it not Appropriate people go to churches
and raise money all the. TIME i, mean don't they
don't they do a past the basket or whatever for
baseball Steam WHAT i usually do it for like the local.
Homeless sure, well, baseball you know players are people.

Speaker 1 (32:59):
Too they need a.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
Place to, stay all.

Speaker 1 (33:03):
Right May, dick did you happen to hear?

Speaker 3 (33:04):
That what's? That? Dick?

Speaker 1 (33:06):
Three or? Four jackson?

Speaker 3 (33:07):
Three?

Speaker 2 (33:08):
Three during the fourth inning of the Last Friday's Giants
braves game In San, francisco a fan from the upper
deck threw a ball out of the field during a
sackfly For. Atlanta here's how the place sounded of THE
Nbc Sports Bay area With John miller And Mike.

Speaker 1 (33:20):
Kruco the bocks will do that.

Speaker 7 (33:23):
Line drive to, Right yazz has got. It he's coming.
In here's the throw. Home it is not a Time.

Speaker 5 (33:30):
And where did the other ball come? From came out
of the upper? Deck some clown through the baseball in the.
FIELD i have never seen.

Speaker 3 (33:41):
THAT i don't.

Speaker 1 (33:43):
KNOW i got a different take on this stuff than
other people.

Speaker 3 (33:45):
Do but.

Speaker 4 (33:46):
Whatever oh it's crazy like the ball like when it
came down you see the. Highlight i'm surprised the catcher
didn't freak out and not know which ball to. Catch
it was like the perfect timing in the perfect. Location
like got, confused yea happening in the field THAT i.

Speaker 2 (34:01):
Understand what gets me, though is when some people come
out and they see things, like whoever that person, was.

Speaker 1 (34:08):
You should be bad for, life cut off his?

Speaker 3 (34:10):
Hands what? Off will you calm? Down?

Speaker 1 (34:13):
Like are you kidding?

Speaker 3 (34:13):
ME i, mean how?

Speaker 2 (34:14):
Come how come we don't have these same conversations about
fans that do stuff during football games versus fans that
do stuff during baseball. Games maybe it just leads into
your hole because baseball players are soft thing compared to
other sports out, there.

Speaker 3 (34:29):
Right football players have helmets.

Speaker 8 (34:31):
On.

Speaker 4 (34:31):
Well but, yeah but, Again i'm not talking about what
if somebody got hit with that baseball from the upper.

Speaker 3 (34:36):
Deck, okay then they got hit with a.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
BASEBALL i, Mean i'm not saying if you got hit
in the, head it'd be, terrible, obviously because bad things could.
Happen but can we just calm down with the, drama,
though is What i'm talking? About you, KNOW i mean
people throw stuff onto a, field you, know they and
they act like somebody's dropping a scud missile on the.

Speaker 1 (34:53):
Pitch so what.

Speaker 4 (34:54):
Should some what should be the punishment for somebody that
throws a baseball during a game from the deck onto
the field kick.

Speaker 2 (35:01):
Him out of the, game give him a five game
ban or, whatever you, know maybe your band for a
week or.

Speaker 4 (35:05):
SOMETHING i don't, know WHATEVER i, mean is that Gonna
is that gonna deter somebody from doing that?

Speaker 3 (35:08):
Again? Probably?

Speaker 2 (35:10):
PROBABLY i, mean just do people really want to keep
getting banned for five games every time they throw a
baseball into his? STATE i, mean it's going at some
point exactly, exactly but it's just going to cause it
to happen.

Speaker 1 (35:21):
More, No, no that's not how people.

Speaker 2 (35:24):
OPERATE i don't think anybody is waking up sitting around, going,
gee how CAN i continue to get into A Major
league baseball game SO i can keep throwing?

Speaker 3 (35:32):
Stuff we. Did we did see the problem last year
in college.

Speaker 4 (35:35):
Football we had the ONE i remember that the game
we had that we had the one game was The tennessee.

Speaker 3 (35:39):
Game people would pissed the.

Speaker 4 (35:40):
Officials they started throwing beer cans onto the, field and
then we saw it again the next week at a different.
Stadium was, like whoa wait a, SECOND i don't think
this happens at the second. Stadium, well if it hadn't
already happened at the first, State.

Speaker 2 (35:50):
Well the teams are getting fine now for stuff like.
That in the Sec but it's.

Speaker 3 (35:54):
A drop on the.

Speaker 1 (35:54):
Bucket it's a.

Speaker 3 (35:55):
Nothing it's a.

Speaker 2 (35:56):
Nothing, fine it's one hundred thousand dollars or whatever it,
is it's. NOTHING i just think, AGAIN i knew that
you'd have that, take AND i knew that we'd. DISAGREE
i JUST i just GET I i laugh at how
people just lose their. Mind, Well I'M i might say,
appropriate like these people should just be banned for, life
and they should be flogged and have their hands, removed

(36:16):
and they should never be allowed to go to a
sporting of it ever as long as they.

Speaker 4 (36:20):
Right but if you were let's see your season ticket,
holder and it happened numerous, times you'd get, kited you'd be,
like can we just stop this?

Speaker 2 (36:27):
Please if it was numerous times with the same, PERSON
i would, say now you're. Done but one time a
guy gets drunk or he does something. STUPID i, Mean
i'll be honest with. You WHEN i was a, Kid
i've thrown stuff onto a field many. Times WHEN i
was a. KID i haven't done it since in my adult,
years But i've thrown stuff onto a field.

Speaker 3 (36:43):
Before.

Speaker 1 (36:44):
ABSOLUTELY i, mean you, know, wow, wow what do you?

Speaker 3 (36:48):
THROW i, MEAN i just don't see a lot of
people back in the. DAY i don't, know is the
dairy gold chocolate.

Speaker 4 (36:52):
MALT i just don't see a lot of people throwing
things on baseball. Fields, yeah Maybe i'm just at the wrong,
game BUT i don't see it.

Speaker 2 (36:59):
Happen but exactly my, point it doesn't happen very often
because people don't normally do. That and when it does,
happen can we just stop with the freaking, dramatics like
these people deserve jail time for crying?

Speaker 3 (37:09):
Out. WELL i think what he did, though, was if
you're the, broadcaster you have to do. That, yeah you have.

Speaker 4 (37:15):
You you almost have to go over the top to
make sure anybody listening doesn't do what it doesn't repeat.

Speaker 2 (37:21):
IT i don't think people need that. REMINDER i think
most people have a brain on their. Head All, right
we're gonna. Break Hu millon joins next on ninety three
to THREE. Kjrfm
