Where we go, And I cannotthink of a better way to spend today's
show than with my buddy, mylongtime partner, Hueie Breedlove Millin. How
are you, man, David? What is happening? I think I smell
just hostility. Just it's just kindof everywhere it said said, it's invading
our senses. Yeah, the schnazis serving you well today, There's no

(00:23):
question about that. You know what. Let me just say this that,
first of all, we have alot to get to on the show.
John Wilner coming up at four fromBig ten Media Day. Cavin de Boor
is going to join us. Howabout that for the first time since he
took off for Alabama. Way tobury the lead man, Holy moly,
right at five point twenty this afternoon, first time talking, I believe to

(00:43):
anybody I know for sure radio,he may have done a couple of quick
minutes with the TV station on hisway to Tuscaloosa, but as far as
a long form print radio TV conversation, this is the first one since he
left for Alabama. So we've beenworking on this for a while trying to
get him back on, and wefinally pop today, So he'll join us
at five point twenty, and we'llyou and I'll spend some time discussing this

(01:06):
before he comes on. We'll getWillner's thoughts on this as well at four
o'clock. There's a lot of emotions, which I absolutely love from Husky football
fans on social media regarding the conversationwith Caitlin coming up tonight at five twenty.
So we'll discuss that as the showgoes on. We've got a couple
hours before Caylen jumps on to kindof dive into that. But you mentioned

(01:26):
that there's some anger and hostility andfrustration here in Seattle with this Mariner's baseball
team, and I gotta be honestwith you, man, I was thinking
about this today, and Hugh, you've known me for a long time.
I'm not the kind of guy that'sgonna sit here and write out a take
or write out a monologue, orwrite out or script out anything for the
radio show. I just don't dothat, right. I don't need to.

(01:48):
I've never needed to, and it'sjust not something I do. So
there's many many times where people willask me, Hey, what's the topic
on the show today, And Idon't know. I mean three o'clock.
Whatever flies out of my mouth iswhat we'll discuss. Man. So we
kind of fly by the seat ofour pants on this radio show, and
I would hope that it's served uswell over the years. But my emotions
right now, I'm not angry,I'm not frustrated. This baseball team just

(02:12):
makes me want to cry. Honestly, they they make me want to cry.
They are breaking my heart, iswhat they're doing. And the numbers,
I mean, do we really neednumbers. If we need numbers,
I'll give you numbers, right.I mean, you got a baseball team
that in the last six games, the starting pitching staff, Hugh has a
one point six three ERA and they'reone and five in those six games.

(02:34):
I mean, there's just there's noworld where any of that is acceptable.
There's no world where any of thatis not completely embarrassing. And I guess
that's just the one word that Ijust come back to because I I've been
the guy sitting here you saying thingslike sometimes in this business, I think
we just say things just to saythings, right, Like you have a
cliche or a favorite line that youwere you know kind of you know,

(02:57):
you know, go back to youknow, I'm sure, Like like,
for example, I'm sure these guysare working hard. Right, You've heard
things like that out of my mouthall year long, Dick as well,
I'm sure Julio's working hard. I'msure Mitch Handiger is working hard, and
Mitch Garver's working hard. Well, here's what I'll say about that right now.
How do I know that? Howdo I know these guys are working
hard? Honestly? How do Iknow? How do I know that Mitch
Hanniger is putting in the effort tobe better? How do I know that

(03:21):
Mitch Garver and Luke Rayley and JulioRodriguez and JP Crawford and all these guys,
every single one of them? Howdo I know that? Or am
I just saying things like that?Am I just opening up my mouth and
just seeing what flies out of itwhen I say something like that? How
do I know that these guys aren'tbehind the scenes completely lazy as hell and
putting in no effort whatsoever to getbetter? How do I know? Because

(03:44):
the evidence, your honor, saysthe contrary, The evidence, Hugh says
that you've got a bunch of guysthat are way underperforming their abilities and they're
not getting any better. So howdo I know that they're working hard?
How do I know that they're goinghome and getting sleep. How do I
know that they're putting in the workin the cage. How do I know

(04:05):
that they're watching tape and breaking thisthing down and trying to get better.
I have no idea if they're workinghard behind the scenes, because the numbers
would invite some skepticism in that regardwhen you have all these guys that are
pissing away, and I mean pissingaway maybe the best rotation in team history.

(04:25):
This is a baseball team right now, Hugh, that has the number
one er in Major League Baseball, number one, not just American League,
but of the major leagues, thenumber one opposing batting average, the number
one opposing whip. They are dominantwhen it comes to facing opposing hitters.
And this offense, there's no otherway to describe it, Hugh. They're

(04:49):
embarrassing themselves every night, and they'reletting the pitching staff down. They are
letting down half of the baseball team. I'm sure you've been in NFL locker
rooms where you kind of feel likethe offense is letting down the defense or
vice versa, but nobody wants tosay that publicly because you're a team.

(05:10):
You're fifty four guys and you wantto support each other. But there is
no part of Logan Gilbert or GeorgeKirby or Luis Castillo or Bryce Miller that
can go home and feel like they'regetting the support that they need from this
offense because they are humiliating themselves everysingle night. And you know what,
I don't want to hear another wordabout the ballpark, not one more word

(05:33):
about the ballpark. Because Tea MobilePark may be a hard place to hit,
t Mobile Park is not forcing youinto the most strikeouts in the history
of Major League Baseball, which iswhat the Mariners are on pace to do.
They thought they had a chance tofix that after last year. Now
they're even worse. They're on paceto strike out almost seventy more times than

(05:56):
they did a year ago. Soyes, I think it's totally a pro
right now for fans and media andeven Jerry Depoto and Scott's service. And
they've built this offense into what itis, and I get it they're underperforming,
but it's embarrassing and they're letting thepitching staff down. They are not
earning their paycheck. There is notone hitter except for maybe Cal Rowley and

(06:17):
maybe now Victor Roebliz on this baseballteam that deserves anything, that they're getting
anything. They're just going through themotions. They're just showing up. And
how do I have any idea ifthey're working hard to make this thing happen.
I got no clue who what's goingon behind the scenes. So to
me again, you know, Iknow I'm voicing some frustration right now on

(06:38):
the air. I'm just sad.I am absolutely sad. I'm heartbroken in
this baseball team. Makes me wantto literally cry. When you get to
a point where you are so beyondfrustration, and you are so beyond anger,
whether you're a parent or a spouse, or a boss or an employee,
whatever, whether it's a personal ora professional situation and conundrum that you

(06:59):
find yourself in, and you havefound yourself banging your head against the wall
over and over and over and overand over again, and you were at
your wits end with no answers whatsoever. You want to find a dark place
and you want to go there, and you want to ball your eyes out,
and that's what I'm doing right now. And Chuck is exactly right,
Hugh. And I'm sorry to ramblehere, but Chuck is exactly right in
the in the in the promo thatwe're running. There's plenty of time.

(07:21):
There's nine weeks left in the baseballseason. But this team, they're not
a player away. They're not twoplayers away. There's six or seven players
away from getting this thing done. And so I want to let this thing
play out. I really do,Hugh, until the season comes to an

(07:41):
end. But the unbelievable mountain thatyou have that you have got to climb
in front of you seems to betoday, on this Tuesday afternoon, so
insurmountable that it feels like you're losinghope. And I totally get that.
I've tried to be as positive aspossible. I thought the numbers would bear

(08:03):
out. Eventually, guys like Polanco, Hanneger, Garver, Julio Crawford eventually
would start to produce like their careerssay they can produce. And none of
it's happening. And now the breakingnews that just came down, Julio is
now on the ten day IL withan ankle spring so he's done. JP
Crawford's on the il with a pinkyfinger fracture, and Tyfrance has been let

(08:26):
go. So the fortunes of thisbaseball team, at least for the next
week or so, will fall onguys like Tyler Locklear, Cade Marlowe,
Victor Roblez, Luis Rivas, anda guy in Jorge Polanco who as of
right now apparently is your number threehitter when he probably should be let go
and fired by this baseball team. So, yes, Hugh, when you

(08:48):
throw all that at me, You'veknown me for a long time. I
can be fairly emotional. Sometimes I'mnot afraid to shed a tear. This
team makes me want to cry. They make me want to cry because this
this is an absolute, unbelievable, pathetic waste of talent by this offense.
This should be a World Series contender. We should be talking about putting money

(09:09):
aside for playoff tickets right now,and instead we're sitting here looking at maybe
the end. Scott Service is evenmentioning that as a possibility, which he
did last night for the first time. Last night, Hugh, I saw
a defeated guy who looked at themedia and brought up the idea that this
team is going to be home forthe holidays come October. They are even

(09:31):
being and acting like a defeated frontoffice and a defeated coaching staff. And
if they're acting like that, there'sno excuse for them to be upset at
the fans for acting like that. This is another year, potentially plenty of
time left, plenty of time, but another year where we are all staring
down the barrel of yet another massivedisappointment. And I think everybody needs to

(09:56):
ask what is in it for them? Because I am tired. Hugh,
I'm fifty one years old. You'reolder than me. You've been a fan
of this team just as long asme, All of us. I'm talking
about all the teenagers out there whoare now sixty year old men and fifty
year old women. There's a scenein Field of Dreams where Kevin Costner is

(10:18):
frustrated he builds this stupid stadium andhe's not getting anything back, and he
just asks, what's in it forme? Well, that's what I'm asking,
now, what's in it for us? Because this is what you do
to me, and this is whatyou do to the fan base. What
is in it for us. Isit just about having a team, because
if it isn't, fine, we'lljust have a team and we'll be happy

(10:39):
to have a team. It's valuable. There's only thirty of them in the
world. I get that, it'svery precious to have a team. We
learn that with the Sonics. Idon't want to go through that again at
all. I'd rather be pissed offthan not. But is this what you
want? You want us to justbe happy to have a team, or
do you want us to think bigger? And do you want us to be
a franchise and a fan base thatcan think about winning a World Series championship
one day? Because there's no partof you that's acting like that right now.

(11:01):
And it makes me want to vomit, and it makes me want to
cry. All of this is breakingmy heart, Hue, all of it.
So there you go. That's howI feel. A well, No,
I appreciate that, and I couldfeel the emotion coming on. I
just it's your show. I wantto get a step out of the way.
Let you get that off. Ithink it's wonderful. It's not imbling
at all. I think what wehave here, and you're right, I
was thirteen years old, you know, living in North Seattle, just a

(11:24):
few blocks from the UNFC Washington inyear one, used to go to the
games. My parents were divorced, had on visitations every other week with my
dad. You know. I waslike, Dad, let's go to the
mar Let's go to Mariner games, you know, so we get see Tie
in the bleachers, and and soI was, I was, I'm invested
in this franchise from day one,and I think that what we have is

(11:46):
this incredible conflation, a concoction ofdifferent emotions. I mean, you just
think about this. There's the obvious, the history which you know, most
of the principles and the participants forthis team they really shouldn't bear that burden.
That's not a yoke on them.But it's just reality. It's gonna

(12:07):
happen like the Bengals, you know, Joe Burrow. You know, hey,
we've got this this new you know, the franchise has this albatross around.
Okay, so that's reality. Andthen, as you said, as
you're putting this together, the ideathat you could be dfa dead effing average,

(12:28):
right, but not in a typicalform. Half your damn roster is
elite, like not just win theWorld series, elite, like win the
World Series and ten years later theytalk about once a decade elite. That's
half your damn roster, you know. Or you know, if you obviously
the bullpen, you say, well, there's questions there, but you understand

(12:52):
my point. So so the factthat you could have this dispirit of an
imbalance between the offense and the defense, that's a factor. And then the
other you know, you know, another part of the concoction, the concoction
of frustration is just how you're teased. Anybody who's ever gone to a bar
and you're trying to hustle some chick. If if you haven't crashed and burned,

(13:16):
you either haven't stepped up and goneto the plate or your bread fricking
pit. So everybody's gone through this, and it's like, if you're gonna
get crash and burn, just tellme early on, don't don't play foot
seats with me and tease me allnight and all, you know, like
there is a tease here that there'slike, my god, are they really
tied for the division? Yeah? And so so and then another point of

(13:41):
the frustration, I think there'd beanger if we could direct it at one
singular spot, you know, orone one singular cause of this known phenomenon.
But what's adding to this again, this concoction of frustration and anger,
is that if you had to putme in a debate class and put four

(14:01):
entities in a hat, right onfour entities and a hat, rip them
on little pieces of paper, andI had to reach into your hat and
draw, and I either drew Marinerownership, or the front office from the
potal or Scott's service, or justthe players, I would be perfectly content

(14:26):
reaching in and grabbing any four ofthose because I can think I could make
a hell of an argument total forany of those four, and so to
try. And so that adds tothe frustration, because if you could just
say, look, it's all freakingDepoto, then we could all just kind
of unite and we just say wewouldn't have this conflict. It would just
be it's Depoto, it's Depoto. We all know it's Depoto, right.

(14:48):
But it's frustrating because like you say, wait, what if you're sensible and
you reason it through, the Poto'sgot one hundred million less than our freaking
division rivals to play with so asmargin for is that much tight end?
Service? Stand third? Right?Yep? You know, and then and
then you say, okay, wellis service off the hook? I just

(15:09):
can't believe that all of these guyscome in and and and then they drop
their ops by one hundred, onehundred and fifty two hundred, like some
of these guys are two hundred andfifty points below their their career OPS is.
I just can't believe that they andwe'll talk more in detail. I
talk with Dick about that you can'tyou can't convince me the service is not
part of the problem, of course, and then of course the players that

(15:31):
that that goes without saying that they'renot. Now to your point about are
they doing the work? What's interestingand I'll close with this to let you
back on on the horse here.I always found it interesting in football that
there's this wide array of different skillsets, and you give the fire and

(15:54):
brimstone, the gladiator speech for thenose tackle, because adrenaline is going to
be his ally if you could,if you could inject him with the adrenaline
as if a grizzly was chasing you, You give that to a nose tackle
he's probably gonna have a hell ofa game. But you do that to
a kicker, you're not He's notnecessarily gonna make that forty nine yarder.

(16:17):
Do that to a quarterback or areceiver is gonna drop the ball. So
so you know, a basketball playeris a bunch of adrenaline and want to
gonna help you make that shot.So baseball, you know, I don't
played in high school, but butI do think there's evidence. You know
that that Julio say, hey,if anything, he's overthinking thing. He's
got over over analyzing in the case. So so you you didn't make a

(16:40):
claim, You just asked the question, are they are they putting in the
work? It's possible they're putting inall the work and all it's doing is
just compounding the stress and the anxietyabout what's because that's the unique nature of
baseball, right. Not all athletesare just gonna play better because they want
to play better. Nose tackles areright, but not necessarily baseball players are.

(17:02):
Look my point in saying that isI think that there are some opinions
and takes, if you will, that fans and media have, and people
will roll their eyes at it.I don't think anything is nothing should elicit
that kind of reaction. Nothing withthe way this offense has performed, I
think I think all theories, conspiracies, whatever are on the table with these

(17:23):
guys, because this is just amassive so far to this point, massive
massive, massive failure by everybody.I mean, like tonight's lineup, you
got four guys in Roblists, Lockleyor Vossler and Marlow who at some point
have spent time in triple A,four of them in tonight's game against the
angel This is not a major leaguelineup at all that the Mariners are running

(17:45):
out here, and certainly not onethat should be competing for a division championship.
I mean, you know, theAstros are laughing at these guys with
this offense, and thank god they'repitching staff is taking a step back and
they're not where the Mariners are,and that's why the Mariners are able to
fight this thing. But you know, look, I mean, if I
were to sit down with John andChris Larsen and Service in the POTO,

(18:06):
I just say, what do youwant from us? Honestly, Like,
what do you want from us asfans? Do you want us to sit
here and just be apathetic and notgive a damn and move on. Or
do you want us to speak ourmind and share the passion and have the
emotions come out and continue to bea part of this, for good or
for bad? What do you wantfrom us? Because if you want the

(18:27):
emotions of twenty twenty two and thefans going back, you know what crazy
When Kyle Raley hit that home runto beat the A's to clench the playoff
spot for the first time in twentyone years, then you got to take
this. You can't have both. And there are some fans that only want
one of the other. There aresome fan bases or franchises you that only
want one of the other. Andthat's not how it works here, uh

(18:48):
huh, Not on this show andnot on the station. No way.
You want the good, you gottatake the bad because you'll want the whole
package. And right now the packagethat you're getting is awful. You're getting
the bad, you're getting the emotion, you're getting the anger, you're getting
the frustration, and you're getting thedisappointment. And I think every fan in
this city has an absolute right toshare all of that, because no fan
base in baseball deserves it more thanwe do. None. We're gonna break.

(19:11):
We'll talk more about this little funwith audio, and then John Wilner
at four. Klin de Boor isgonna hop on with us tonight. At
five point twenty we'reanna scuss that comingup with Hugh Millen for Dick Vane on
a Tuesday live from Jimmy's on ninetythree three KJRFM. It's time now for
the Baultpark Rekpard, brought to youby Deer Services AC blowing hot air,
don't fear cold Deer Services dr Servicesdot Net The Ballpark Repard on Sports Radio

(19:37):
ninety three point three kJ r FM. All right, Hugh, a couple
of quick things, do some funwith audio at three forty five. Joh
Wilner at four. The Mariner lineupfor tonight, by the way, is
out. Josh Rojas leading off,Victor robe lesson center, Kyle Rowley behind
the plate. Polanco is now you'recleanup hit or tonight. Luke Railey in

(20:00):
the five hole. Tyler Locklear, who was just called up, will be
at first base. Jason Vossler, who's a thirty year old journeyman player,
will be your DH Dylan Moore andshort and Cade Marlow in right field.
Our buddy Mike Kurno from the TacomaRainiers, by the way, just tweeted
out that the Rainiers number one, three, four, and five hitters are

(20:22):
all in the lineup tonight and haveall been called up within the last twenty
five hours by the Maritors. Sowe'll get your thoughts on where we are
with this baseball team in a second. But the big news, Julio Rodriguez
is on the il now with aankle sprain. Those things tend to linger.
By the way, we'll see JPCrawford I l with a broken finger.

(20:44):
Ty Frantz designated for assignment. Asyou already know, Jonathan Classe sent
down to Triple A, Lockley orMarlow and Revas all called up. Here's
the Skipper Scott's service before today's game. Fun day. Our draft picker in
today, so our first round orand second round picker, and which puts
things in perspective for me. Ithink, and you know what the game's
about and how exciting it is foryoung players get opportunities, and you know

(21:08):
those guys are just starting their journey. I like to joke with them in
my office a little bit to makesure they got their contracts signed. And
they always smile because we know it'sgonna work out well for them and their
families. So but it's good tohave to talk to them and hear a
little bit about their journey and youknow, fill them in on what's ahead
for them a little bit. Sowith that being said, that is in

(21:29):
perspective, and we'll talk about tonight'sgame. So obviously, Logan's going first
time out after an awesome pre AllStar break run. So excited to get
him out there. And you know, I think everybody felt the frustration,
you know, from myself and aroundour players. We talked them after the
game last night, so I haveto wipe that one clean. We have

(21:52):
to play with. We're gonna makesome more adjustments what we're doing, how
we're playing, and I stopped givinggames away and not think that starts to
night. So I'll take any questionsJP, right, Yeah, so JP
does have a hairline fracture on thatright, pinky. You know, end
time is a fracture. It's gonnatake some time to heal, so he's

(22:15):
gonna be out for some time.Don't have a timeline on that one either.
You know, Julio came in todayand not I think the doctor not
really responding as quickly as he hoped. So you know who he's gonna be
an il and he's gonna be outagain. No, don't know how long
it's gonna be. It could be, you know, a quick turnaround in
ten eleven days. It could belonger. We'll see. We'll know more

(22:36):
here in the next few days. There so certainly very disappointing news when you
lose two guys that are so criticaland key to our team, and that
what we can do about it aresome things you cannot control. You can't
control that. We'll have a differentlook to our team, you know,
with some new faces on the rostertoday, they will get opportunity to play,
and we got to get the mostout of them. I do know
we have a pitching staff that's gonnagive us a chance to win a ball

(22:59):
game every night. And hopefully thesethese young guys can help us do a
little bit more offensively, you know, to create some opportunities and see where
that takes us. And for Julia, it's still just a it's an ankle
spring, not a high ankles it'san ankle spring. That's what I've been
told, is that you mentioned doingthings differently with so many different faces and
there. Does that kind of lendto maybe doing things I think it does.

(23:22):
I think it does. Shannon Uh. You know, we've got some
guys that we've seen a little bitbefore. Obviously, Tyler Locklear is back
with us. I thought he playedpretty well when he was with us earlier.
He'll get a more extended look now, Bossler. We don't know a
ton about him, although he's beena very productive MYR League hitter. You
know, we've got Kate Marlowe backwith us, who did some good things

(23:44):
for us in the past. Youknow, some other guys filling in where
they need to. Obviously, Demowill get the bulk at the time at
shortstop. Demo played very good earlyin the year when he was filling in
JP for JP. So again,I don't want those guys to try to
do more than they're capable of doing. Just bring your game, you know,
let's let's get on base, let'screate opportunities for us, and then
you're gonna have to have some timelyhitting. When timely hitting comes, it's

(24:07):
a good thing. It usually worksout well for us. Where it's not
there, we struggled like every otherteam in this What what's you think of
So Vossler, by the way, thirty years old, twenty home runs,
seventy nine ribies, eight eighty threeops. But that's at Triple A.
He's thirty years old. There isa reason why he's thirty in in triple
A. I mean, those numbersdon't mean much at all to me,

(24:29):
especially with a guy trying to hitNOWT at T Mobile Park. So,
but that's who Jason Vossler is.He he's been around, He played for
the Giants, played for the Redsfor a little bit, and now he
is your He's in the lineup tonightas your DH. And look, I
mean, obviously, Hugh JP Crawfordlooks like it's gonna be longer than ten
days. Julio Rodriguez, you can'tsay high ankle sprain without saying dreaded high

(24:49):
ankle sprain. So good news thatit's not a high sprain. But service
doesn't sound like he's going to beback next week with Julio. I mean,
this feels like a pretty dark day, dude, for this baseball team.
I don't know what to do here. I mean, I don't want
to be just the grim reaper onthe air, But my god, the
Mariners pissed away another phenomenal start lastnight by Bryce Miller, and now the

(25:11):
one guy that could potentially carry youis gonna miss at least a week and
a half and likely longer. Sothere's nothing good going on you, nothing
good going on here, pal potentially, But what what has happened this year?
I mean you have to go backto last August to really say,
all right, the potential is fulfilled? I you know, I I mean,
obviously you'd rather have Julio in thelineup, right. You know,

(25:33):
he's bad and and all of hisskill set in his arm you know his
arm, uh, you know hishis lack of arm being in center field
was hurt yesterday. Right, Soso I'm not trying to say that that
I'd rather have somebody else other thanJulia. Oh, that that'd be a
pretty stupid thing to say. Butin reality, you know, what,
are you really losing base only whatyou've seen from him? Yeah, well

(25:55):
you're hitting a You're you're losing aguy who in the last week and a
half was hitting four thirty with atwelve eighty one ops with three home runs,
and he was starting to heat upa little bit. So yeah,
I just think the potential and Iget your point at potential, but you're
more likely to believe that the potentialcan become reality with him than with Victor
Roebliss. And he had that babblethat led to a run, as you
said yesterday, So there's nothing goodabout losing him. There's nothing good about

(26:18):
losing JP, and JP has notbeen playing well. But look, I
mean, the trade deadline is inseven days from now, Powell, all
right, it's next week, andI don't know where Jerry's head is at.
We know where it was at ayear ago. He did not believe
in this team a year ago,and he was wrong. Is he gonna
be wrong again and make the movesthat he thinks helped this team out,

(26:41):
but see them not payoff and giveaway prospects, which I'm fine with,
by the way, Or is hegonna say nope, I'm not going to
allow this pitching staff to pitch anotherweek without at least giving them some support.
So I'm very curious here to seewhat his mindset is next week.
Are you concern because I think thatthe chatter for months has been one percent.

(27:04):
There's no question, unequivocally, unequivocally, the Mariners are buyers right and
now is there's some question about that? I mean I was listening earlier in
advance of me coming on with you. I think it was Greg Bell saying
the Mariners ought to be sellers, right. I don't know that, no
Castillo's I think there's questions about whatthey will do. I know what I

(27:29):
would do. I think you're infirst place. I mean, to me,
it's pretty simple, you're in firstplace. I think if you're in
first place at the deadline, youknow it to your baseball team to try
and go for it. End ofstory. I one hundred percent agree.
But there's got to be a capon everything, right, sure, totally,
Like the Chiefs have a cap onwhat they'll pay Patrick Mahomes, Like
everything has a lid, right. So, so whatever prospect that you think

(27:52):
can provide whatever impact, Uh,you know, it's obviously a seller's market,
right, in part because of thenew playoff rules and and so is
is is it just gonna be acase where Depoto's sitting there going my god,
you know let's just use round numbers. I could acquire this this this

(28:15):
bat, and I think its impact. We'll put it on a ten scale.
Seven. You can quibble with that. You can say eight, you
could say nine, you could saysix. Whatever. Let's just say seven.
He's gonna be a seven. Butbut the cost that it's gonna cat
uh uh uh uh cost me toacquire this seven is just so prohibitive.
I can't do it. Is isthat? Is that possible? Or if

(28:37):
you're Jerry, do you just saytotally possible? My god, I'm just
gonna overpay. I'm gonna pay fora Corolla as if it was a Portia.
I think it's totally possible. Uh. It just comes down to how
much he values these prospects. Forexample, does he see ty France's replacement
in Lockley or and not want togive him up. Does he see Mitch
Handiger's replacement in Kate Marlowe and notwant to give him up? Does he

(28:59):
see Victor as a potential outfielder orDH and not want to give him up
on next year's team? Right?I mean, all of a sudden,
Hugh, this offseason is gonna comewith a lot of holes to fill right.
We were hoping that was not goingto be the case, but it
is the case. They've got fiveor six positions that need to be addressed
over the offseason. Does he thinkhe's got those answers? Now? If

(29:21):
he does, he may not movethese guys. We'll get a break.
John Wilner at four Fun with Audio. Next, he went for Dick on
ninety three three KJRFM. It's nowtime for Safday in Dick's Fun with Audio.
Jimmy g pawn Star, Jimmy, mister daroppolo. Now let's have some
fun with audio. All right,we're back here on a Tuesday afternoon,

(29:41):
Saftian Dick without Dick, you andfor Nick Here and a Tuesday. I'm
live and Jimmy is on first acrossthe street from T Mobile Park. It's
time, Hugh for your favorite segmentof the radio show, but Fun with
Audio slash. Hey did you hearthat? Hey, Hugh, did you
happen to hear that? What's that? Dick? We start in baseball during
yes Today's Yankee Ray's game, Hugh, Tampa Bay's Jose Siri hit a home

(30:03):
run to cut the Yankees lead tofour to one. A series celebrated his
solo shot in the dugout at YankeeStadium. Play by play voice Michael Kay
of the Yankees on the Yes Networktook issue with his behavior. I just
under you lose it, I meancelebary when you win it. Yeah,
man, And I feel like,is Marti gra on that dugout? You're

(30:25):
losing the game. But I askedAaron Boone about it today. He said,
it's a new world. He says, he tries to look away.
Well, the Yankee fans have gotthemselves a new enemy. And every time

(30:47):
he does that nonsense between second andthird they they really boom him. And
I think he enjoys it. Firstof all, I love Michael Kay.
He does a talk show in NewYork, Hugh, and he's also the
voice of the Yankees on TV,and he a lot of times mixes the
two together. As you see rightthere. You've told me for a long
time. I've shared this opinion withyou before. How many road games have

(31:07):
you and I been to? Hell? I remember losing a game, was
it Arizona or Asu? When CharlesFrederick was laughing on the team bus.
Remember that, Yeah, after aloss and how pissed off you and I
got I hate that stuff. Ihate it equally as much. I don't
get it. I don't understand it, Yeah, I don't. I do
understand how an athlete. I don'tunderstand the exchanging of jerseys after a game

(31:32):
nothing right because because that's fine forthe winner, but you're exchanging jerseys.
Some somebody in that exchange is justlost. So I couldn't agree more.
If that's old school, I don'treally care. I don't really I don't
think it is. I think thatI think there's certain values that are just
core human values, and I thinkthat it's it's incumbent on the leadership,
the coaches to reach that, toignite that, to get that sense of

(31:57):
pride about the team and the senseof pride about winning in the sense of
your your your position with in asocial construct, which is a team.
You're not playing golf or tennis orwrestling. Those are individual sports. You're
on a team. It's your job. Tigers are very esteemable, but they're
solo animals. Lions are equally esteemable. They're losing the game, they're social,

(32:20):
they're in a pride. You gottafigure out you got to think like
a lion, not a tiger.I love it? Hey you did ja
happen to hear that? What's that? Dick? We go back to baseball
on Sunday in La Show, HeyO Tani hit a home run that landed
in the parking lot at Dodger Stadium. Oh Tani, right field? Forget
about it? A massive shot.Wow, four hundred and seventy three feet

(32:49):
for show, Hey o Tani, the Dodgers fifth home runt of the night.
That was a shot. So thatwas that was right center if you
saw that or not. But hehit it out of the ballpark, And
it was funny watching the people inthe stands just turning around with their backs
towards home plate, pointing at theparking lot, like, there's the ball,

(33:09):
go get the ball. This guy, he's a monster, dude.
He's the only guy in baseball, honestly, that I would pay to watch
me. He leads the NL onaverage, he leads the NL war ops
on base percentage, slugging actually notobp, but slugging home runs are.
He's a monster and he's not evenpitching yet. What's gonna happen here when

(33:31):
this guy starts to throw again forthe Dodgers believe. I mean, how
often do you hear that number?Four seventy? I mean that's a driver
off the deck, that's right.I mean that is a prodigious number.
And you know, and I don'tknow. Maybe the medical experts could respond
in the text, but I wouldhave to think. I mean his UCLA

(33:52):
is God, dang it my tongue. I cannot say ucl. I cannot
say UCLA. I see, Ijust proved it. What do you want
to know? What do you wantto know? I can't. I can't
say ucl without adding an a.The u c L that he tore right
that prevents him from pitching correct?Does that not hurt him a little when
he hits? I mean just alittle, like I can't? Isn't there

(34:15):
My point is, isn't there roomfor even more when the u CL heels
Yes? I give me. Idon't think it's a bad thing that is
ucl is gonna heal. I wouldthink that would be a potential positive for
him. But it's also yeah, and that's my point. Yeah, yeah,
yeah, Jackson, we got timefor one more or not? Sorry,
we don't all right, We're gonnabreak. John Wilder is gonna join

(34:37):
us next Kaitlin de bores at fivepoint twenty uh well, what's at about
that conversation? Coming up as wellon ninety three three kJ r f M
