Speaker 1 (00:00):
Live from the R and R Foundation Specialist Broadcast Studio.
Now back to Softie and Dick on your Home for
the Huskies and the Kraken Sports Radio ninety three point
three kJ R FM.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Alright, boys and girls, it's that time of the week.
Every Tuesday, five forty five win, lose, draw, postponement, cancelation,
natural disaster, whatever, we dedicate time to talk about Jackson Feltz,
his favorite thing in the entire world, next to his
wife Risa, his beloved Seattle Sounders, and the head coach
of that team. Somehow, some way agrees to come back

(00:37):
with us every single Tuesday. I have no idea why.
Our friend Brian Schmetzer has returned to the radio program. Coach,
how are you?

Speaker 3 (00:44):
I love coming on the show, Softie, I love look,
I love that little last segment with Hugh. I mean,
tell those other teams to, you know, go go to
go to heck somewhere or something, you know.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
See. Even Brian Schmetzer thinks the new look PAC twelve
should not be highlights the olden days. Let the cougars
and beavers be the story out of the spotlight. Well,
we can talk about the tie in Colorado in a minute.
But I think probably the question that's on the mind
of most Sounder fans his house Jordan Morris doing what's
the status of his his hammyman?

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Yeah, so that was unfortunate. It was late in the game.
We thought he was ready. He had a couple of
good weeks of training. You know, I only played him
thirty minutes a game before.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
And you know, then I.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Went with the same starting group that won the last
game three nothing, and he was kind of you know,
he's kind of irritated with me, but I said, hey,
that team looking pretty good. And he goes out there
in the ninetieth minute he does his hamstring and I'd
love to give you the scoops Offtie. I always loved
giving you a scoop. But you know, MRI came back
a little like fuzzy. It wasn't quite right. So he

(01:52):
had to go get another MRI. We send it over
to England to this soccer MRI specialists, So I'll have
more information for you tomorrow. But he's got to pull
the hamstring and he's certainly not playing against Saint Louis.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Okay, so he's out against Saint Louis. So what do
you what would you say, just kind of ballpark it.
We won't hold you to it, right, but you've seen
injuries like this before. If he's out for at least
Saint Louis, what is maybe the best case and worst
case scenario? You think, well, the best.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
Case he tweaks it a little bit, and it's three weeks,
you know, two to three four weeks, the worst game.
In the worst case, that was the best case, by
the way, right, the worst case, you know, if he
if he really did it again, then you know you're
talking about four to six to seven eight weeks.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
That's yeah, that's right. Brian Jackson here and yeah, I
think I think switching from the gear back to the
Colorado game where it was sad to see Jordan go
down is I think for me, the story of the
Colorado game, at least in the postgame show, was the officiating.
And I know you talk about how like rest have
a hard job, and we can say rest have a
hard job, but both ways, for you guys and against

(03:04):
you guys, Alexis to Silva, the referees seemed to have
quite the influence. You guys probably should have been playing
a man up for the entire second half. I mean
I'm not sure if you can speak to anything, but
it just the story for me of that game was
how it was so deeply affected both ways by the officials.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
Well, I can speak on it. I mean, I just
can't complain, but I can tell you a story. Great,
and the story is. The story is we come out
of half time his kid got a silly yellow card
in the first half, and literally in the first minute
of the second half, he comes way late on a
tackle against Kilani and the ref is jogging over. He's

(03:46):
got his hand in his pocket. He's ready to show
the kid the yellow card because it was clearly a
yellow card foul and that would have meant a red
card and he would have been gone. We would have
been up a goal and up a guy, so that
would have made things, you know, a little easier for us.
But you know, again, control the controllables is one of
my favorite sayings. And you know, maybe he didn't have

(04:08):
a lot of experience or you know, I don't know
that he certainly impacted the game for sure.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
Right.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
Well, look, one of my biggest pet peeves is the
lack of accountability for officials in sports, right, I mean,
it just drives me crazy. How players are forced to
trot out and meet with the media after tough games,
but a lot of sports referees and officials are not.
So if players get suspended for matches for bad behavior

(04:34):
violating rules, why shouldn't a referee get suspended for a
bad game and why shouldn't that be made public?

Speaker 3 (04:39):
Brian, Well, I think in our league, and I look,
I know for a fact that refs have been reassigned
and they've been taken off games and they've kind of
had to go back to referee school when they really
massively screwed up in a game. So there is some
accountability within our league, but I don't think that it's

(05:00):
made public, and like maybe in the way you want it,
or some of the players or I might want it,
But there is some accountability for referees. They have a
grading scale, they have to hit certain metrics. I mean,
that's that's there.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
Well, hopefully Alexis to Silva goes back to referee school
after that game.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
That's awesome, Brian.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
After looking at the tape though, the one to one
draw where you end up coming away with just a point,
what do you take away simply overall being able to
get your seventh point in the last three games.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
Yeah, well we're undefeated in three and that's not a
bad thing. Playing in Colorado at altitude not the easiest
thing in the world. But you know, the disappointing thing
was is we scored the goal right before halftime. It
usually gives you some momentum. We didn't start the second
half off great. I mean, we were okay, but you know,
Iamar sticks his leg out, gives up a silly foul,

(05:56):
and you know, the coaching staff and myself we have
to take some responsibility for that because the guy hit
it under the wall as the wall was jumping. Now,
our standard thing is, you know, you just kind of
get up on your tippy toes. You never jump because
a guy's gonna kick it under you. But you know,
we're gonna play against Messi and Miami a couple of

(06:16):
months from now, and he can take it. I might
lay it down, guy down on the floor like you
see in some of the Champions League games and other
leagues around the world. Just so that we have a
set program that every time there's a set piece, that's
what we're gonna do.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
Well, Brian Spetzer again is with us, so it looks
like at midfield finally getting healthy. So the obvious question
is how you get all these talented guys on the
pitch together. You got to change the three four to
three formation or at least have some hard decisions ahead.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
Do you you think, Well, I've got a lot of
hard decisions to make because I've got a pretty deep
squad now obviously missing Jordan that puts.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
Us back a little bit.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
But yeah, we're gonna tinker with the four two three one.
We're gonna see if that gets an extra player on
the field in an advanced position and there's true competition
for some of those spots.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
Brian, Just about thirty seconds here, really quick. Saint Louis
coming up. You guys lost one nothing on the road
to them. What do you got to do here against
Saint Louis to get the result this time?

Speaker 3 (07:15):
Well, if you remember that game, we lost on a
set piece goal because we gave up a silly foul
and the guy put it in from a little bit
further back. But you know, we got to play good.
We're going to play high energy, we're at home. Put
them under pressure and we'll see if we can come
out with three points.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
Brian great stuff. Go get him and we're talking a
week man. Appreciate it, Pal.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
Thanks coach there.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
I'll be there next week, Softy.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
I know you will.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
I know you will. He loves doing this show. I
think he loves doing this show more than he does
coaching the damn team.
