Speaker 1 (00:00):
Coaches don't often do that right where they come out
like he does that a lot.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Absolutely, you know who else did?

Speaker 1 (00:05):
I think Jimmy may have done it too, But twenty
third overall two four seven. They were thirtieth last year
and twenty ninth the year before that. We'll get to
more jedfish cuts if we can. But joining us right
now on the radio program. He's a busy father running
around going crazy tonight with his kids. The national recruiting
coordinator for two four seven sports, our friend Greg Biggins, Greg,

(00:25):
how are you?

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Man?

Speaker 3 (00:27):
Hey, I'm good. Next time you tell Jed, I don't
want to ever hear ESPN quoted again.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Come on, Jed, you just got to rank him higher.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
Man.

Speaker 4 (00:34):
If you if you're ranked him sixteenth, they would have
said two humber seven.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
No, it's whoever rank is highest, is the most, is
obviously the best, right. I know that's right. It is
the players and coaches and all that. I'm all good.
I like Jed alt my job by the Husky. I
was a fan.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
My rankings have him at eighth, so I don't know
why he's not mentioning my rankings, for God's sakes, But
I mean, what do you think, what do you think
about the job he did, you know, and now he's
got depending on who's ranking, you believe eight four stars,
number one player in the state of Washington, number two
out of Arizona, number two out of Oregon. They flipped
a wide receiver from Oklahoma. What do you make of
this class that Jedfish put together?

Speaker 3 (01:11):
Well, it was good, it was good. You know, I
think we had him twenty two. It sounds kind of embarrassed.
I don't even know what the rankings are, kind kind
of like oblivious to it right now. But no, I
like it. You know, obviously the receiver class is very strong.
We love both quarterbacks. Lineman class was good. Obviously losing
Zach was wasn't blow. It's probably a top twenty class
that they held on to him. But you know, overall,

(01:33):
you know, I think I remember back in the day,
you know, when you know dog Man was first coming out.
I went to here Dick Baird, and he talked about
what they looked for back in the Don James and
it was it was speed, need and balance. And I
think this class still that I think, which you don't
want to get up, you don't want to bring in
so many players at one position and then the colect

(01:54):
you know elsewhere. So you want to have a balance,
and I think they do. You know, you see the
corner at the safety, the receivers. We talked about quarterback,
there's not really a hole, you know. Linebacker Rady Sale
stud acl hopefully is going to be good, great football player.
I mentioned the line like, there's no holes in the class,
and they obviously the spe a receiver and dB and uh,

(02:16):
you know, they fill the holes. And I like it
very very very well done.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Well.

Speaker 4 (02:20):
Usually, you know, fans look at all what kind of
skill guys we get. But I think Husky fans are
so in shock of the offensive line performance this year
that they go right to the offensive line and they
see see they see six guys he mentioned Jed Fish
mentioned today averaging six five and three oh nine. But
my question to you is can any of these six
guys play next year for Washington?

Speaker 3 (02:44):
You know, the size for me is overrated. Don't make
a joke when I say that, I'm talking to specifically, lineman.
You got to be able to move right like for me.
At the next level, everybody's big. A lot of guys.
You see them, you know, hour I know, do they
have set? Are they flowing in how they move? You know,
can they get to the second level? Do they have
lateral mobility? If their tackle, can they you know, get

(03:05):
off the ball if you're a guard center. So that's
what you're kind of looking for. I don't know. It's
a good class, right. I think getting John Mills flipping
him from Texas was kind of a big deal. I've
seen Jake Flores since his freshman Ye're probably in an
Orange County kid out here. Both those two guys are
very strong. Peter Langey is a huge kid. I don't

(03:25):
know what they listed to Matt. He's probably closer to
whatever it is. He's probably closer to three eighty. Yeah,
So wow, they kids.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
They got him at three thirty, by the way, three
so they missed my fifty pounds.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
What the hell?

Speaker 3 (03:36):
You know, if they want to say three thirty, god,
blast the cable call him three fifty.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Oh my god.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
But I'm not sure I see let's you know, if
you want to go old school, I'm not sure. I
you know, I see a guy who can come in here,
you know, Olin Kreutz, if you will, a guy's gonna
come in and just be a monster from me. Yeah,
I'm an old timer, right, I'm going to old school
right now. If you see a guy like that, if
you can come in and play right now, hope I
see that guy. But you never know. That's what spring

(04:03):
ball is for, and development's forn we only see with linemen.
It's probably the one position that's hardest to really evaluate because, honestly,
so much about being alignment is tough. I know that
sounds cliche, but you know, when you're two ninety or
in the case you know a Peter three point thirty, Yeah,
you're typically going up against guys that are like two fifty, right,
you can just model these guys. What happens when you

(04:25):
go up gets a guy with like minded size. Do
you tower a little bit or do you kind of
have that little bit of an edge? You kind of
had that nastiness. That's why I love wrestlers. You know,
when we look at the NFL draft and see a
lot of these O line D linemen, especially the interior guys,
and it's the guy Dominic Macon right, all state wrestlers,
those guys that translate because they're tough, they're mean, they

(04:46):
kind of have that little edge that little anger. You
know that you want them to be a little nasty, right,
So I think Making is a guy. I'm gonna say,
you know what, the film, it probably isn't as good
as we haven't rated really, I you know, I think
the probably isn't as high as the ranking. But we
look at the up side of the kid. Wayne moves
his strong hands the resting background. I think he's going to.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
Hit well, you guys have Laygy at three thirty. If
he's three eighty, I've never seen it. I mean, that's
like saying, what is the way I had two four hundred?

Speaker 2 (05:16):
I don't know whatever. I mean, that's just crazy that
they're that far off.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
But what Dick was asking though about you know Greg again,
Greg Biggan's two four seven with us talking about signing
the day over you, Dub, I'm with you, asking pure
freshman like maybe Poky Fee now in year two would
be a guy that we should look at who's on
the roster right now. But what about the portal, because
that's what we need. We need guys to come in
in the portal and start for this football team. So

(05:40):
can you explain to people when we'll start to see
some movement there And how likely is it, Greg that
you think you dubb can hit on some jackpots in
the portal?

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Oh, go hit on the portal. You was in a
really good position to hit on the portal to have,
you know, a strong collective. And honestly, it's not something
that I'm a super we're excited about, but that's kind
of where football recruit is right now. It's not about hey,
you know, who can give me the you know, the
best opportunity to win early education depth, Hey who's going
to pay me the most? And obviously I'm slightly exaggerating,

(06:12):
but when it comes to portal kids I've had, those
are the kids that are maybe a little bit more
balanced in terms of, hey, I want to find a
place that can develop me and why I can go
in and play right now. And typically guys that are
leaving the portal for two reasons. Number one because they
weren't good enough to play where they were at. You
don't really want to get those guys unless they're playing,
you know, for like maybe Bama Ohio State. But there
are it could be guys that maybe they're outperforming where

(06:35):
they're at and they want to kind of move up.
And I think those are the kind of guys you
want to hit on. So if you're you dumb and
you want to get in, you want two immediate starters.
The portals a beautiful thing because number one, you've already
seen these guys play college football. There's no guessing. I
don't I don't care who the number one player in
the country is. You're still guessing. You're still hoping that
he hits you. Just you never know about a high

(06:55):
school kid. I've seen number one overall players never play
a snap in college. You're always guessing. But with portal,
these guys have already played, they've already been successful. You
know what they can do, you know their makeup, you
know their toughness, their skill level, all that. So portal
I expect you go into pool, you get two guys
who can start right now, and you're good to go.

Speaker 4 (07:14):
You alluded to Zadris Rainey Saale a few moments ago,
and Matt Doherty made a point saying he was our
number one priority, and you've got him ranked as a
top ten linebacker in the country. Tell us more about
him and if he's a guy that we could see
yere one.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
You know, I mentioned the ACL and it was un
fortunate because he was playing really, really well. And then
again I mentioned projection another thing that kind of you know,
we see that that shows, you know, why is this
guy getting drafted? What was the high school? What was
about this guy in high school? It's two way snaps.
That's a big thing for linebackers, and Renny Sel really
good running back.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
Right.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
You saw him do it on both sides of the ball.
I think if you're a linebacker, you know, you got
to be an athlete. And I think if you're a
stud linebacker, wide receivers, tight end, you got a different
level of athleticism there. And Rainy Sale is the guy
who go both ways. I like the frame. He's six too,
He's a twitchy two hundred and fifteen pounds. Now do
I think he can play right away? I think he
didn't have the injury. You know, I think he could,

(08:12):
But obviously I'm not a doctor. I don't know the
recovery and how it's going to be for him. But
you know, knee injuries always kind of want to be safe, right,
So do I think he's talented enough to play right now? Yeah?
But do I want, you know, with a knee injury
you never know.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
Hey, Greg, we got like a minute left.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
Greg Biggins two four to seven, the kid they flipped
from Texas, the offensive tackle John Mills tell us about him,
huge kid.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
Sixty six. I think he actually is three twenty three fifteen, mean,
aggressive kid. I like to see him again, maybe a
little bit more athletics. You know, we saw him one time,
and you know, our good buddy Brandon Huffing went out
and saw him one time, and you know he's a
He's a dominant guy at the point of attack. Once
he can engage, he's good to go that thing with

(08:58):
him again. You want to see him just improve as
an athlete, right, just a little bit more fluid and
how he loves a little more dynamic. As you're talking
about a receiver and you say dynamic or explosive, but
now you're talking about alignment. So I love the frame.
I love what he can be. So I think he's
got a chance. I don't know if he's a year
one guy, but I think he's got some upside for sure.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
Got you, Greg, great stuff man. We appreciate you making
time for us.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
And just make a little notation in your phone on
your calendar that when there's Husky recruiting News.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
We're gonna call you right.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
Man, tell me anytime.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
Good talking to you guys all you're the best.
