Speaker 1 (00:01):
Donald in Trouble Chump Throw intersected for the full time.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Darius Williams.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
This time the Seahawks.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Will go as far as Jason Myer's leg can take him.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Comb sixty one?

Speaker 3 (00:16):
Does he have enough? That is live right in the Rams?

Speaker 4 (00:20):
Hang on.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
All right, the voice of Joe Davis pick thanks to Fox.
The last time the Seahawks and Rams got together, Boy
oh boy to the Rams Dodger bullet and that one
four picks by Sam Garnold and the Hawks were still
a sixty one yardfield goal attempt away from winning the game.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
Didn't get it done, But we'll see what happens tonight.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
We are backing Jimmy's on first across the street from Blomenfield,
joining us right now in the radio show from the
booth across the Streets or the Battle for the West
will commence at five point fifteen, the voice of the Rams.
Our friend JB. Long joining us right now on the
radio show JP. How you doing man?

Speaker 2 (00:59):
Well?

Speaker 5 (00:59):
Normally I could sarcastically say thanks for the invitation, but
you guys actually did text me and invite me over there,
so shame on me for not taking you up on it.
Hope you're having a good time and a good start
to your show.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
I had a vodka soda waiting for you. E didn't
want it, so I just drank it. Yeah, so I
hope you don't mind, by the way, me just popping
that in your honor, by the way, before the the
game starts in five point fifteen to night. But hey,
let's go back to that first one, because I wonder
how much of a feeling JB there is in La that,
Hey man, that performance against the Hawks may have worked
in week one, but outside of four interceptions, it's not

(01:31):
going to work again tonight in Seattle.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
How much do you feel like the Hawks kind.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Of showed the Rams that, hey, we can go out
there and play terrible football on offense and still find
a way to maybe make this a game in the
fourth quarter.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Yeah, no question, I think all that holds up.

Speaker 5 (01:47):
I'm not sure how much that game, even though it
just a few weeks ago, has any bearing on tonight,
because that's just how rematches and divisional games in short
weeks are. But you know, I think at its course,
Seattle has played Los Angeles as well or better than anyone,
certainly in terms of stifling the best offense in the league.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Seattle's got the antidote.

Speaker 5 (02:06):
I think these Seahawks for many years now, but especially lately,
have been built specifically on defense to to throw in
the Rams. And here they are with an opportunity with
three weeks to go to do exactly that.

Speaker 4 (02:17):
So, how have the Rams played since they faced the Seahawks?
Because the Seahawks are four and oh since they faced
La But there's a lot of Seahawks fans.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
Are like, we have played very well over the last month.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
Have the Rams played well in their three to one
stretch since facing Seattle?

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Yes, and no. I'll start on offense.

Speaker 5 (02:32):
They've been nearly immaculate day for a three turnover game
in the rain. Coincidentally, at Carolina on Thanksgiving weekend, Matthew
Stafford through twenty eight straight touchdown passes without a pick,
but unfortunately turned it over three times that day, and
Young and the Panthers did just enough on third and
fourth down to stay on the field and to get
explosive touchdowns and to win that game, the only Rams

(02:54):
loss in this stretch that we're talking about.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Conversy on defense, I would say the Rams.

Speaker 5 (02:58):
Are not doing it much damage. As the last time
Sam Darnold saw them. Now, whether that's unique to their
opponents or it's just endemic in terms of the personnel
and the way they're playing, I think tonight will be
an interesting data point.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
But as much as anything, I think.

Speaker 5 (03:12):
What's concerning for Rams fans about their defense is there
were always questions about whether they have the high end
corners to combat the best passing attacks in this league,
and right now they're just not generating as much pass
rush without games without blitz is.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Just pure win four man.

Speaker 5 (03:29):
Puncture the pocket pass rushes like they were at the
end of last season and in the front half of
this year's schedule.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
Well, JB Long again the voice of the Rams is
with us and JB.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
As you know, Charles Cross not gonna play Seawawk left tackle,
Josh Jones going to go in his spot. But what
about Davonte Adams, What do you think your status is
for tonight? And if he's out, what does that really
mean at five point fifteen tonight for the Rams.

Speaker 5 (03:51):
Yeah, I mean I assume he's not going to go
just because hamstrings are always difficult and it's not his
first occurrence and it's a short week. But I'll gladly
be proven wrong. Maybe it's worth giving him a helmet
just to go out there in the red zone if
nothing else, whether it's to be a decoy or an
actual threat, because he is that potent and he has
unlocked the red zone this year for the Los Angeles Rams.
But if we're saying Devonte doesn't play, I wonder what

(04:14):
the bigger loss is, you know, I think that's maybe
the leading storyline in this game, Like do the Rams
struggle more on offense without the league's leading touchdown pass catcher.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
Or does Jared Verse come to life.

Speaker 5 (04:26):
Against a backup left tackle who hasn't started, you know,
since twenty twenty three for the Houston Texans.

Speaker 4 (04:32):
What's the level of fear that Rams fans have for
Sam donald Because if you look at his last two
games against the Rams, he's been absolutely horrible. But if
you look at all the rest of the games not
against the Rams, I don't know if Rams fans watch
that though. I mean, his passer ratings like one ten
in all those other games. So what's the level respect
and fear they have for Sam Donalds?

Speaker 2 (04:53):
Yeah, I don't know about fear.

Speaker 5 (04:56):
There's definitely a respect, I mean going back to his
days as a Jet like not to get two great Angler.
But the reason why Trevor Lawrence is a Jaguar is
because he came to Sofi Stadium and with a winless
Jets team put one on the Rams, which was stunning
and still I think has aftershocks running through Los Angeles,
but more recently I remember saying this going into our.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Week eleven game.

Speaker 5 (05:16):
I don't know whether what happened between him and the
Rams while he was a Viking last year matters at
all in the context of this game, unless it matters
to him.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
Does that make sense?

Speaker 5 (05:25):
If those thoughts are echoing around his mind, then yeah,
it's definitely relevant.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
But if he's playing.

Speaker 5 (05:30):
Fast, free, clear, confident, then I don't think it really
has any bearing. And again it's no disrespect it's not
even specific to Darnald, But I think what does strike
fear in the hearts of Rams fans is what they
saw Barner do at tight end and certainly what JASN
can do. And I kind of think the X factor
is Shaheed in this game, both in terms of special
teams and while all the eyes are on JSN, he

(05:51):
has the vertical threat and the run after catchability to
really make life difficult for this la secondary.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
So jblong with us, the voice of the Rams, jab
go back to the Davante thing for a second, because
I'm looking at targets behind Davante and Pooka Nakua and
the next best wide receiver target wise, I believe is
Jordan Whittington, who's got twenty four and he's got three
in the last three games for the Rams.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
So how how big?

Speaker 1 (06:18):
Like, for example, the Hawks have Jackson Smith and Jigba,
they got Cooper Cup, they got Rashid Shaheed. Obviously, how
big is the drop in your opinion from Poka Nakua
to whoever that number two guy would be tonight for
the Rams.

Speaker 5 (06:32):
Well, that really cuts to the crux of the matter.
We could do a whole show on this because you
guys are so used and I am too to seeing
Sean mcdoe and the Rams operate in eleven personnel sets,
three receivers and only one tight end. Now the pendulum
has completely swung. They're using three tight ends more than
any team arguably in league history, at least in the
modern era. Now Seattle is built to defend that. No

(06:54):
team in the NFL is better equipped to thwart that
than the Seahawks, and we saw some of that in
week less. But I think right now, if we're saying
Devonte's not going to play, the silver lining is that
he's already playing a career low in terms of snap count.
They're kind of using him in specialty situations and platooning him.
And then also it's more of a three tight end identity,
including former Seahawk Colby Partninson. Anyway, now that being said,

(07:17):
one other kind of you know name that bears mentioning
here is to to Atwell. If you remember in twenty
twenty three Week one when Pooka had his breakout performance,
to to Atwell went for over one hundred and two,
they gave him a ten million dollar come back to
LA contract this offseason. That was before Devonte, that was
before they became a three tight end offense.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
Okay, but he's still a threat.

Speaker 5 (07:38):
He's still one of their fastest players, and he made
an unbelievable catch last week against Detroit. Otherwise MS probably
don't make that that don't win that game. So he's
one to watch if the weather permits tonight.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
JB.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
I don't know if there's been any massive distractions amongst
this list, I'm gonna give you. But in the last
few days, Sean mcvays White has had a baby, the
flight was delayed to seattleker rips the refs, and then
Pooka has to apologize to the Jewish community community for
something he did on YouTube, Like if you put all
those together, is that a distraction that could hurt them tonight?

Speaker 5 (08:14):
Well know, in about six hours. Yeah, you know it's
gonna make. It's gonna make for a narrative arc one
way or another. I don't know which way it's gonna break.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
Yeah, well, jab, I told these guys I'm Jewish and
the Puka thing doesn't bother me at all.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
I don't even know what the hell we're doing here.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to be offended by,
to be totally honest with you, man, so I don't
get any of it. I mean, I know Puka from
his days at you Dub as you do obviously from
his days as a RAM, and he's the last guy
that I would ever expect to be doing something like
that on purpose and pissing people off.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
So I don't know what that means to you. If anything.
I just thought it.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
I'd offer that commentary that it doesn't bother me in
the least. And I'm freaking Jewish for God's sakes, man.
So you know, Puka, you know what kind of guy's
all about.

Speaker 5 (09:01):
Yeah, I don't have much to add to that conversation
of them to say, I know, I was an idiot
at twenty four, I was an idiot at thirty four,
and I'll be an idiot at forty four and a.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
Lot of.

Speaker 5 (09:11):
I'm gonna keep making mistakes, and all asked for is
grace and forgetting us and the opportunity to do the
next right thing.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
Yeah, no doubt, no doubt.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
Howout, how about Matt Stafford tonight with the wind, the rain.
You think of Matt Stafford, you think of ford Field,
you think of so far, you think of.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
Comfortable playing conditions.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
Does the confidence level you think from the RAMS nation
change at all if this weather gets really nasty tonight?

Speaker 2 (09:36):
It could.

Speaker 5 (09:37):
I think that's true of any quarterback though. I mean
the one that you face just a couple of days
ago is forty four years old and off the couch.
This guy's the MVD front runner, right, So there's a
big difference no matter how you slice it. And I
think what the Rams have to offer to is really
the NFL's best rushing attack. I think it's been twenty
three games since the Seahawks allowed a one hundred yard
rush or the Rams at two backs, who could do

(09:57):
that here tonight.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
I'm not predicting that they will.

Speaker 5 (09:59):
I'm just and there's a world out there where Sean
McVay opt to just mash the Seahawks stubbornly with his
running game, and if they do go down that pathway,
the way that the Rams have been doing it has
been effective, It's been thorough, it's been convincing. It's been
the best it's been since the Todd early years here
with the Los Angeles Rams.

Speaker 4 (10:18):
On the flip side, how aggressive do you think Clint
Kubiak will be and how aggressive do you think he
should be? You mentioned the corner issues. Should Clint Kubiak
bombs away tonight on the Rams.

Speaker 5 (10:32):
You know, I was watching your game Sunday on the
bike this morning, just kind of the Jim burningson calories
in some hours, and I was reminded that there was
no DeForest Buckner in that game. There's no sauce Gardner
in that game, They're down arguably their best pass rusher
and their two best corners, and it didn't seem like
he had any interest in attacking downfield in that game. Now,
that may have been in part by design not to

(10:53):
make the critical mistake that would allow a Philip Rivers
lead Colts offense to come in here and get one
against you. And if that's the case, totally understand and
I can hardly fault him for that.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
But again, that's between Sam Donald and his ears and
his coordinator.

Speaker 5 (11:07):
Like, I'm curious to see how much confidence in them
and whenever on as kind of like you guys did
about Sam Donald and what it looks like from the
La lens, I was kind of bended back on the
Seattle audience, like the twelves are telling me everything I
need to know. Right, I'm watching your fans react to him,
and I'm watching your fans see a super Bowl caliber roster,
but have some real doubts about whether or not he's

(11:29):
the guy who can get.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
Them all the way to Santa Clara.

Speaker 1 (11:31):
Yeah, are you surprised at all? JB at the year
Cooper Cups having in Seattle?

Speaker 2 (11:38):
How would you characterize it?

Speaker 3 (11:39):
First of all, slightly disappointing, underwhelming.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
I thought if he was healthy the entire year, which
he's been for the most part, I thought he'd be
a little more productive. My biggest concern, I honestly JB
when they got him, wasn't talent, it was just availability.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
And he's played thirteen games.

Speaker 5 (11:58):
Yeah, then I guess the way I would answer it
back to you is I'm pleasantly surprised and encouraged and
happy for him that the game count has been there.
But if the numbers have been underwhelming, then it might
just be a reflection of where he is on the
career arc. And I think, you know, as difficult as
that rap, you know, reality is to embrace for all
of us who are fighting father time like that definitely

(12:20):
played into why he is a Seahawks, So I can't
be that surprised if that answers the question.

Speaker 4 (12:25):
Jab final, thanks for met We appreciate you coming on
special teams. I mean the Rams have been ranked low
and special teams all year. Seattle's been number one EPA
for play in special teams. What has been the special
team's achilles heel, specifically for.

Speaker 5 (12:39):
LA, Well, that's why you guys, are a smart show
and I enjoy joining you guys because who would be
surprised if this game comes down to the kicking game,
because that's how these games typically go, because that's how
Week eleven win.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
As you guys played us.

Speaker 5 (12:50):
Into this segment right with a miss sixty one yarder.
Seahawks won a game on Sunday without a touchdown because
of what Myers was able to do, including at the gun.
And that's why I think Shaheed is kind of the
X factor, not just because of the threat that he
postes as a receiver, but the opportunity to either get
them points or to get them in position to get
points in the kick return game. My guess is the
Rams won't even mess with him, even though they have

(13:13):
been able to put some balls down in the landing zone.
They'll just boot it out to the back of the
end zone and take their chances.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
Against Sam Darnold.

Speaker 5 (13:19):
But I'll give it the la stot of the kicking
game too, which is Harris and Nevis aka the sticker kicker.
I call him the three technique because he looks like
a defensive tackle, but he puts up threes. All that
to say, the last time these two teams got together.
He had never attempted an NFL field goal. Now he's
been really good back filling joshuaccarty in that role. But

(13:39):
you've got one of the league best who happened to
miss a game winning opportunity the last time these teams
got together, and someone who's never been a part of
this rivalry in a meaningful road to pass.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
If be like tonight, well, I can argue the last
time these two teams met, JB. The MVP was Ethan
Evans with that punt in the fourth quarter. I mean
that and some bad plock management by the Hawks on
that last drive have been the difference between a sixty
one yard field goal attempt and maybe a fifty yard
field goal attempt. So we'll see what happens tonight. Man, Hey, listen,
great stuff. Appreciate you doing this. Tell DeMarco, we said, alow,

(14:11):
and we'll talk soon.

Speaker 3 (14:11):
Man. Appreciate it, Buds.

Speaker 5 (14:13):
All right, good to catch up with you guys. Say
another Buckus soda for me afterwards.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
Just in case you know what.

Speaker 1 (14:18):
I've had three since you've been on the air. Man
in your honor, JB.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
