just hang on a second. The moment, at least a
couple of people, the geniuses in the audience, who have
been waiting for a chance to talk to one of
the premier sports talk radeo talents this country has to
offer one of FS one's great football minds. One damn
fine Greek American father and husband. It's our friend Petrose

(01:11):

eight hundred and nine million, or sweet James dot com.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
Were you in the building last night in Staples for
that incredible historic up Come on?

Speaker 3 (01:49):
Yeh, dude, Fernando died. That's a big deal in lam.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Come on, man, I'm gonna get to that.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
Oh you won't. Yes, I started with that bad interview
for him. Bad form?

Speaker 2 (02:00):
How is that bad form?

Speaker 3 (02:02):
I don't know. I just Dick wouldn't do that, I'll
take you. Oh yes he would.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
He's a bigger basketball fan than me, by the way.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
Oh well, look, I wish that I could be like, hey,
this is great, I'm so happy for that. I'm look,
that was great. But this is a completely manufactured BS
thing and it makes me sick that everybody sits there
and jumps on the banana boat with the big schlong

(02:30):
between their legs and acts like this wasn't going to
completely manufactured, staged masquerade and it's not supposed to be that.
It's pro sports that's supposed to be the ultimate meritocracy.
And yeah, I hear all the arguments, Well, the fifty

(02:51):
fifth pick, who cares with it? Well, I do care
if it's a manipulated thing, and a guy's son who
should still be in college playing. He didn't even start
in college. He wasn't even All league in high school,
a first team, and they made him the freaking McDonald's
All America. This whole thing is a crime, and it
has been a I hate to be this way about it.

(03:12):
I know that I'm such a hater. And some people
are like, oh what a moment. Look at him. He
was miked up, and he told him to see the
intern for the Oh god, It's like, these are the
same people that look at the newspaper and believe every
single word that they that they read totally manufactured bs thing,

(03:35):
And they made this decision three or four years ago
that they were going to do this before the kid
ever showed a glimmer of promise. And no one's against
the kid. He doesn't seem like a bad kid, but God,
why this seems like this is much more for Lebron
than it is for the kid. And I just I
don't know. It grossed me out. And then I watched

(03:57):
it and I sent a couple of mean tweets and
they were gaining momentum, and then uh, and then we
got the word that Fernando died. So it's a bit
of an eclipse thank God in Los Angeles. Well, we'll
get to the Fernando. Thank God that Fernando died, but
he was sick, and you know.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
I don't know, I had no idea he was sick,
to be honest with you, But we'll get to that
in a second. But just very private about it. Yeah,
back to the Lebron browny thing for a minute. You know,
I generally agree with you on the whole thing, and
I was actually kind of surprised to see so many
people in media, even some on ESPN like mad Dog,
call him this whole thing out and and not buying it.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
I mean, how is it being received in La do Laker?

Speaker 4 (04:37):
Do a lot of Laker fans feel like you or
they all kind of just getting suckered into.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
This a lot of people feel like I do, yes,
But then you have the lebron sexual types. First of all,
the people on the Laker station lebrono. Yeah. And I
know that I know that the people dealing with this
are miserable because I know, I absolutely know. But that's
kind of the thing. They have to go on air

(05:02):
and put on a brave face, and it's like, look,
I've been doing this a long time. I can't sit
there and act like this is cool and it's fun
and what a wonderful thing, and let's get on to
the next topic. It's embarrassing and thank god that the
mad Dog and some other people are over it. And
I'll tell you why, because it's egregious and it gets

(05:23):
worse and worse, and it's it's a sad state of
affairs when we let, however spectacular of an athlete manipulate
something like this, and then everybody falls in line and
acts like it's the greatest thing ever. What's he gonna
do next? Poop in a bucket Reddit center court. I

(05:45):
might watch that. We'll I'll sit there and applaud. We'll see,
let's see what else this guy can do to make
us celebrate nothing.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
I'd be history. I mean, I don't believe anybody's crapped
on a bucket at.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
Milly Winter's, Shelley Winter's did it and on stage?

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Really?

Speaker 3 (06:03):
Yeah, it's some kind of acting method. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
Oh all right, well, Petros is with us. You mentioned
Fernando Man. I mean, look for guys like us when
you're nine ten years old and you grew up in La,
I did not so anytime the Dodgers played like the
Braves on TBS and Fernando was pitching, it was a
big deal, way before social media. Fernando Mania all that.
You know, millions of Mexican Well it like fans were

(06:27):
inspired by him.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
But what did what did he mean to La? And
what did yesterday mean to you?

Speaker 3 (06:30):
Guys? Remember Lyn Sanity? Yes, ya think of lin Sanity
without Sports Center and all the BS. The player is dominant.
It's not like a fun little story. The player is
an All Star, Gold Glover, silver slugger. When he hits
place first base from a weird little town in village

(06:52):
really in Mexico that's best known for having him be
from there, right, and you know one of twelve kids
fully obscure baseball career. A Dodger's scout came to look
at somebody and he was pitching to that guy. And
then next thing, you know, he was in this vortex
and when he got there, his first eight starts are

(07:14):
just beyond dominant, and that's what it was created, and
it went on for ten years. He settled in to
become a great workhorse pitcher for the Dodgers. And the
history is very interesting. You know, Chavez Revene where Dodger
Stadium is, used to be like sort of like a
Mexican shanty town and it was kind of like al

(07:37):
Vera Street is now all people lived there, but it
also you know, they sold sombreros and knick knacks and
trinkets and stuff like that, and those people were removed
to build Dodger Stadium, and a lot of people have
been removed to build this or that over the years.
In La the Beach Boys House is gone. They built
the one to five over it. But that was a

(07:59):
thing that's everybody's craw and of course was very political
and calls of racism and stuff like that. And Fernando
made it cool for Latinos, not just Mexicans, but El Salvadorians, Guatemalans,
Costa Rica all up and down for them to root

(08:19):
for the Dodgers. And they didn't just root for the Dodgers.
He created the most staunch fan base, the most passionate,
fanatical fan base. The coolest thing about the Dodgers, and
we talk about it all the time, is not that
Rob Lowe's there. Who cares? It's the freaking Mexicans. It's
Latino fan base. Why do you think some rich hedge

(08:42):
fund guy from Newport Beach is drinking a Michalata for gods?
But that's the cool thing, right And Dodger Stadium for
all the jokes this and that about it, you know,
you really get a guy with a face tattoo high
fiving somebody's accountant, and it really bridges the cultural gap
here in La Fernando has a huge part of that.

(09:03):
And you know his personality, how private he was, the
fact that he wouldn't publicly speak English. Ever, he came
back in twenty fifteen to become a naturalized citizen and.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
I didn't know that that he always spokes wow.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
Yeah, I had no idea. Yeah I met him, but
he would just smile at you. But he spoke English,
but but not publicly, right right, It's like the same thing,
by the way, O Tawnie, now, you know, and we
kind of appreciate the guys that try, right, I mean,
they sort of kind they kind of endeared themselves in
a different way. But that's a different topic. Just looking

(09:37):
at the pictures with Fernando with his big old freaking
mullet talking to Ronald Reagan and all this stuff, and
getting all these old guys on that played with him,
like Dusty Baker and such as, Yeah, is interesting. But yeah,
it's a it's a real for what he was nationally,
which is not a Hall of Famer, but a great
baseball pitcher and a guy who had some wonderful moments

(09:58):
out there, and he could be maybe the most important
baseball player in the history of the city other than
Jackie Robinson who started out obviously in Brooklyn. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (10:09):
Well, Petro spabainakus with us courtesyasweet James dot com.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
We got Indiana Saturday.

Speaker 4 (10:15):
By the way, Curtis Rourke, their great quarterback is not
going to play. Indiana is leading the country and scoring,
but their quarterback is out and they got this Tavan
Jackson guy who Ray Jackson's dad. He played at Wazoo
and Ryan Leaf on that ninety seven rose ball team
that almost beat Michigan, by the way, and so this
is his son.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
I played against them too.

Speaker 4 (10:36):
Wow, So how different will this team be without? Because
I'm looking at all these numbers that say Indiana is
awesome and they're awesome on defense too. By the way,
there's no joke on defense either.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
Yeah, now that guy's the real deal. It's like a
Sun Belt All Star team. This Signetti guy, right, and
the Google MEI win was kind of a joke to
start the year, and it's not a joke anymore. This
is the best Indiana football's ever been in my lifetime,
I think, or the most excited people have ever been
about it, right, And usually if that's going on at

(11:07):
a place like that, it's not just because of the quarterback.
It's it's a top to bottom deal. I don't really
I saw them with Rourke when they came out here
and played against UCLA. But I think they're a much
better complete team than Washington is and it could be
a very interesting game. Washington wins this game, you know,
you feel a little bit better about them in the

(11:28):
big ten. Not as good as Oregon feels, of course,
and a lot better than we feel here in La.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
I had to throw that in, didn't you.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
Well, thank god, somebody didn't just buckle to a blue
blood in the Big ten. I mean, we're getting murdered
down here in La.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
How did anybody?

Speaker 4 (11:44):
Okay, I can't speak for Lincoln Riley and Deshaun Foster.
You dub's got fifty new players, jackass. There's no buckling
to anybody. It's circumstanced. Look, yeah, jackass, what your problem is?
How many new players? Is Indiana house?

Speaker 3 (11:59):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (11:59):
That's fun.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
You will be about the same. Yeah, all right, now
they double edged sword? No, they got like thirty okay, yeah,
honestly that everybody's dealing with new people every single year.
It's not a good excuse. Don't use it.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
So you're really honestly?

Speaker 3 (12:12):
Wow?

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Okay, so you really? So you dubs buckling to the
Big ten?

Speaker 3 (12:17):
No? No, you just said it. Well, look, didn't you
lose to Rutgers? Yes, okay, I mean it's it's worse
down here. Miller Moss, you know, at least you beat Michigan.
You know. Miller Moss is doing an interview and they're like, yeah,
you know, people are really down on you guys. And
he's like, well, they keep that same energy, so okay, yeah,

(12:39):
I will. You lost at Minnesota and then you lost
at Maryland. You had a lead up until one minute
left in the game. The best player on USC's team
is clearly on offense. They're running back what he marks.
They threw fifty times and ran twenty in a game
that they had a double did you lead? They don't

(13:02):
want to win. The guy's not really a head coach.
He's proving it. It is a trend of losing that
USC is creating. The first eleven games that Lincoln Riley,
I've repeat this again, the first eleven games that Lincoln
Riley and sc coached, they were ten and one, and
after they lost that one to Utah in the championship game,

(13:25):
Caleb Williams is crying or whatever. Lincoln Riley said, we
will never be this bad again. Rest assured. But the
truth is that's the best they've ever been in the
last eleven games. He's four and seven. And people that
sit here and say, oh, well, you know it's because
Caleb's not there. Caleb was one in five in his

(13:46):
last six starts, which is a crime, by the way, right,
And then the people sit there and say, well, if
they were still on the PAC twelve, we'd be running
the table and get a playoff spot again. Caleb Williams
one in five and the PAC twelve six starts. This
is this is football, abyss and Jen Cohen screwed because

(14:07):
her hands are tied, right because there's a ten year
deal with a seventy million dollar buyout. Yeah, and the
guy that paid the ninety million dollars to get rid
of Clay Helton, who performs it about the same clip
Lincoln Riley does. That guy Rick Caruso only did it
because he was running for mayor and he lost to
a woman with a buzz cut. So USC is you

(14:31):
ever see that movie? I didn't see it because it
looked terrible, But you ever see that movie with George
Clooney and Sandra Bullock where they're like reeling around in space?

Speaker 2 (14:39):
Yeah? Yeah, yeah, yeah, it was pretty bad.

Speaker 3 (14:41):
Oblivion or whatever it's called. Yeah, yeah, that's USC football.
Oh my god.

Speaker 4 (14:47):
Never lose to a gal with a buzz cut ever, ever, ever, ever, man,
there's a buzz cut?

Speaker 3 (14:52):
Like you said, our same to USC football. Yeah, and
you still lost Jesus.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
Losing to a goal. Whatever. Great, fine buzz cut. No,
can't do it never never ever.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (15:02):
Hey, by the way, do you know this?

Speaker 3 (15:04):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (15:04):
I'm looking up that that hell was the name of
that movie. Now it's killing me. Gravity gravity, Yeah, gravity,
it was pretty bad.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (15:12):
Do you know this Dash Bayery kid? He goes to
MATURER Day? What are you laughing at?

Speaker 3 (15:17):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
You don't know him, Dash Bayerley, that's his name. He's
a commit to you dub.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
But he plays for Modern Day Football? What I say? No?

Speaker 2 (15:26):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Maturday, Modern Day whatever?

Speaker 3 (15:29):
Okay whatever? You know nothing about him? What position is?

Speaker 2 (15:31):
He is a quarterback? It putts, Oh is he their starter? Okay? No,
he's the third string guy.

Speaker 3 (15:37):
I don't know. Man moder Day kind of pumps him out, Bro,
Why might I be asking about a third You name
other modern day quarterbacks?

Speaker 2 (15:45):
Todd Marinovich? Right, I believe went there? Lioner? What else?

Speaker 3 (15:49):
Well, just to give your listeners perspective or would you
just rather act like.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
Well, I go ahead.

Speaker 3 (15:59):
Matt Lioner. Modern quarterback Cody Kessler Modern Day No, No,
he's from Bakersfield. He had gauges in his ears. Matt
Barkley modern day quarterback. Pretty good, right, Bryce Young modern
day quarterback?

Speaker 2 (16:13):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (16:13):
Come on, he won a high No, man pressed, Yes,
it's great. Yeah, we got the starting quarterback. He's committed
to play football for Jed.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
The one that was there is last year was Elijah
Brown I think is his name. He's at Stanford. So
be in the modern day quarner modern day Just for
your listeners, softly, because I know you know. The modern
Day Monarchs are the premiere high school football program in America,

(16:41):
probably along with another one that they play against every year,
probably twice a year, called Saint John Bosco. How do
we get their quarterback? Modern day's quarterback? He must like,
he must like the smell of fish. Jedfish is going
to be able to recruit a quarterback, right right, You're
gonna be fine there. It's that's not your issue. I

(17:04):
don't even know what your issue is. You know, you've
got fifty five new players. How can I even judge
the team? See exactly? Glad to wait a couple of years.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
Glad to see you coming around.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
I want to wait a couple of years to see
how this develops.

Speaker 4 (17:16):
God all right, good stuff. Sorry by Fernando. Man, that's
tough news.

Speaker 3 (17:20):
Yeah, well it's hard on the people of the city, right,
you know because a lot of these people are Fernando
fans because their fathers or they themselves, you know, rooted
for the Dodgers during Fernando. I mean, I worked in
the kitchen at my dad's restaurant and when that guy pitched,
good luck getting your musa ka forget it.

Speaker 4 (17:37):
You're right, well you can. You can just think about
that incredible moment between Bronni.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
And lebron last night and bring you some joy.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
So heartwarming. Think about that. Man. Oh, it's so cool
that Griffy and his dad were there because Ken Griffy
Junior and Bronni are similar level athletes.

Speaker 4 (17:54):
Yeah, that was that was embarrassing, totally different. And I
wonder if I wonder somebody was speculating if the Griffies were.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
Paid to be there yesterday.

Speaker 3 (18:04):
Well I'm sure they got a free travel trip.

Speaker 2 (18:06):
Yeah, yeah, no doubt. All right, great stuff.

Speaker 3 (18:09):
Hey, I could just do whatever I want with a minibar, right, yes,
sir Kenny.

Speaker 4 (18:14):
Every hotel room should have a minibar. Those that don't, shame, shame,
it's a thing of the past, like the courtesy wave
just goes away.

Speaker 3 (18:22):
And yet I'm not just putting the oldie forty in
the fridge.

Speaker 4 (18:25):
That's fine by me. Put it in the bathtub for
all I care. All right, man, good stuff. We'll talk
a week. See him, Manu Petros Papadakus with us.

Speaker 2 (18:32):
We're gonna break.

Speaker 4 (18:33):
Kevin Harlan coming up at five right here on ninety
three to three KJRFM.
