Friday afternoon.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
Right here on ninety three three KJARFM. Big thanks to
our friends. By the way, you have to bet online.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Check out the website for the most diverse list of
well over one thousand Super Bowl props, including MVP, length
of the game, over one hundred Taylor Swift related props.
I know Dick's a big fan of that, by the way,
So check out the website. Bet online on the web.
But joining us right now courtesy have bet online. Former
NFL defensive end turned broadcast here our friend Sean Merriman. Sean,
(00:46):
how are you pal?
Speaker 4 (00:47):
Hey? What's up man? How's going good? So?
Speaker 2 (00:50):
I gotta first of all ask you, as a former
Buffalo bill man, give me your thoughts on your reaction
when Buffalo got denied on that fourth down by Josh
Allen on Sunday the Drop by Dalton Kincaid. How did
you handle all the emotion, the swing of emotions as
a former Buffalo bill yourself watching that thing?
Speaker 5 (01:12):
It was tough, and not just because of the game,
because I understand what that game and that team means
to the city and for them to get this closed
and it's like the ultra bell letdown, right, you want
it so so bad for those fans out there.
Speaker 4 (01:23):
It's part of the reason why I resigned right out.
Speaker 5 (01:25):
I got there, you know, the middle of the season
on the charges and not re signed because that fan base. Man,
It's something It's something you don't see too often, just
not even in football, just in sports in general. And
you know, what is a football game without the theatrics, right?
I mean you need a you need some level of drama,
and that was definitely drama. I think you got half
the country saying it was the first down, the other
(01:46):
half saying it wasn't.
Speaker 4 (01:48):
You know.
Speaker 5 (01:49):
The rest are our tweakings in the NFL. Can you know,
get the teams back in there because the tailors, I
mean this, it's so much that they're saying. But truth is,
as a former player, you want to make shorter, you know,
you take it, take the game out of the rest hands.
You get taught that by the coaches and everybody, like hey,
let's let's do something. So we don't make so we
don't let the rest make or break this game. So
(02:12):
you hate to see it come down to something like
that because it was a great game, but you got
to you gotta respect the Chiefs and then winning.
Speaker 6 (02:18):
Where's your position on Chiefs fatigue and Chief's hatred? I
mean I get Chiefs fatigue. You know, people want to
see new blood in the in the super Bowl. Not
sure where I get the Chiefs hatred from. I'm trying
to figure out what's hateable about the Chiefs. Maybe you
can help me on that.
Speaker 5 (02:33):
It's the same thing that the Patriots dealt with right
in the early two thousands, mid two thousands, and then
in the twenty.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
Tens when they just won so much. Sometimes people just
show up to see you lose.
Speaker 5 (02:42):
And mister Floyd Mayweather, Muhammad Ali, you know, you see
people winning so much, you see them great at doing something,
you just want to see them lose. I think that
the Chiefs have, you know, kind of approached that line
where people just want to see them lose. And it
doesn't help that. You know, you're watching the games and
officiator seems like it always go their way, and you know,
I hate doing that. I hate pointing at the rest
(03:03):
of all. Look at these guys. Look at these guys.
But I think it, you know, a few different times
over the course of this year, you can't turn his cheek.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
You're saying, man, this is bad.
Speaker 5 (03:10):
This is really really bad, as obvious, and you got
to talk about it at that point, the same thing
Troy Aikman did during the live broadcast. And toy has
never really critics spots that heavily. Officials ever, well, no
doubt about it.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Sean Merriman, by the way, with us courtesy of bet
online dot Net. All these Super Bowl odds props on
the website. Check it out bet online dot Net. And Sean,
I got to ask you just one more about the
AFC Championship. We'll move on to the Super Bowl. But
you know Buffalo, you know with that quarterback sneak with
Josh Allen during the regular season, I think the number
was they were twenty of twenty one, and then they
(03:44):
go two for five on Sunday, and I was surprised.
People keep saying the tush push. There was no tush
push at all. There was no pushing of any tush
during that game whatsoever. H Is that the way they
ran that sneak all year long, because my guy, you
got a chance to get a couple of backs in
the game and help push his ass across the line.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
And Sean McDermott just refused to do that.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
Why yeah, it's.
Speaker 5 (04:09):
Look, you you go back and whether they want to
say it publicly or not, you go back to that
game and it's a couple of plays, that being one
of them that you want to take back if you're
going to do a sneak like that. And don't get
me wrong, Josh Allen is a big boy. He can
run the football, he can.
Speaker 4 (04:22):
Lower his shoulder and do that.
Speaker 5 (04:24):
Well, you want a big guy back there, and you
want to push the hell out of it.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
And because that was the game, that was the.
Speaker 5 (04:29):
Game that ultimately de signed to win, the loss and
everything else, you want to put yourself in the best situation.
So I'm sure they went back and watch the film
and would love to have that back.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
And also too, you know, Josh Allen's been.
Speaker 5 (04:42):
There a few times now and some of those bets
when you get there, you got to remind these young
guys more importantly than anyone else, that got every single
play matters, every single snap matter so you get behind
me and you push like hell because we need these
four or five inches right, and so those things have
to be reiterated over and over against so everybody has
(05:02):
the understanding like this is it.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
If we don't get this, the game is over.
Speaker 6 (05:06):
Sean, I'm gonna take the same tack going to the
Super Bowl that I had to go in the AFC
Championship Game. And I'm I'm just too fearful to bet
against Patrick Mahomes because I figure, if I bet for
Mahomes and they lose, I don't feel dumb. If I
bet against Mahomes and Mahomes wins, I'm gonna feel stupid
and lose my money. So how high should your level
of fear be simply betting against Patrick Mahomes in the
(05:29):
Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (05:31):
It's so hard to bet against him.
Speaker 5 (05:34):
There was actually one play in particular a couple of
Super Bowls go. I don't know if you guys remember,
he walked into I think it was AFC Championship Game
or whatever it was. He had a bad will, He's
on the bath foot or bad ankle or whatever it was,
and it was really his run. It was a run
for about ten or fifteen yards to Iceter game, and
I say, you know what, this guy he was on
a bad will. Everybody knew it. And for him the
(05:54):
ice the game with his legs and that bad will.
I just you can't go against him anymore. You can't
go against that team because no matter how you look
at the stats, nothing some of these games, nothing jumps
off boards, right, passing yards, rushing yards, how they playing
deferent maybe somewhere in the middle of the pack, and
you look at the end of the scoreboard and they won,
and so at that point you just it's hard to
bet against teams like that.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Well, the totals forty nine, which my god, that just
seems like a perfect number for this game. Next Sunday,
I mean, do you see kind of a lower scoring
game or do you see maybe more of a shootout
that maybe people are not expecting On Sunday.
Speaker 5 (06:30):
I think the first the first half is going to
be pretty much a low scoring game. I don't think
they're going to go out and just start throwing points up.
I think that the scoring is really going to happen
the second half of the game. Once they go in,
they started making adjustments and they start to find holes
in both of them. It's almost gonna be like a
chess match, trying to figure each other out the emotional
see how much man they're playing, much zone they're playing,
(06:53):
and really taper off their first half that second half,
those adjustments are going to happen. I think most of
the most of the points are going to come in
that second half.
Speaker 6 (07:00):
Do you have a feel Sean for for the MVP
and do you see any MVP values maybe down the
board a bit.
Speaker 5 (07:08):
Look, we all know who they want to win the
super the MVP, right, we know who they want to win.
An eight quarterback in this game, though, I see that
if you're not going to go with a quarterback, you
gotta go with somebody on the offense side of the ball,
like Xavier Worthy, right, I see him having a big game.
We want to go to the defense side of the game,
you know, as a defensive player. Look at Chris Jones.
I mean Von Miller won MVP some years ago. Other
(07:31):
side of the ball. I think it's gonna be Sae
Kwon Barkley if he was MVP. And I'm gonna throw
this out there, I think I think, you know, Jayla
Carter is going to be a home wreaking. But I'm
Darius Slay with a couple of key interceptions or something
like that. So if you're going to go outside of
the quarterback position, I would go there.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
All right, I love it. Well, Sean Merriman's with us.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
Put your old defensive hat on for a second and
tell me why is it such a pain of the
ass for teams to slow down Saquon Barkley.
Speaker 5 (07:56):
Well, you know, for one, he's a momentum guy, right,
and so he gets better every time he gets a
decent run. He starts to pick up mop minute and
he starts getting to that second and third level very quickly.
Look at sain Kwon Barkley on once he had those
same plays, and watch the energy he brings to the
rest of the teammates, the coaching staff. He energizes it.
This team goals, goes where sa Kwan Barkley goes. And
(08:18):
so once he go out and pop one of these
you know, long thirty or forty yard runs, he gets
up and when he runs to that sideline, he gets
all those guys off of the feet. He goes and
start yelling at the defensive guys and coaches. They go
off of him and so that's why it's hard to
stop him, and you got to make somebody else beat you.
I mean, if I would bring guys up in that
box and if aj Brown scores me, so be it.
Speaker 4 (08:41):
If Smith scores me, so be it.
Speaker 5 (08:43):
If Jalen hurts the side the sash the ball on
the RPO action and start hitting us with ten or
fifteen and tw so be it. One person I will
not let win and lose against his is sain Kwon Barkley.
Speaker 6 (08:53):
Well, how well the chief suited to do that and
slow down Saquon to the point where he's just not
running all over him and at least make Jalen Hurts
make plays on third down.
Speaker 5 (09:03):
Well, I think it's going to be decided what Chris
Jones gonna line up. I think they're gonna move him
on passing downs to a wide five or seven, get
him on the edge one on one matchup. In those
running situations, he's gonna be in that three either right
over the right over to those edge and out of
a little bit outside that three technique when he can
two gaps.
Speaker 4 (09:21):
So and they're going to.
Speaker 5 (09:22):
Try to stay away from us. So they're going to
check the strings and you'll see what's gonna happen a lot.
You know they're gonna try to stay away, double team,
cut off Chris Jones and run the opfic side of him,
because they're not gonna run out of He's just going
to cost too much happen.
Speaker 4 (09:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
Well, by the way, Saquon Barkley, if you include the
postseasons averaging one hundred and twenty nine yards a game,
I mean that's every single week. The guy's going for
a buck thirty. It's amazing what he's done. But Sean
Merriman with us courtesy a bet online. Check out bet
online for the most diverse list of well over one
thousand Super Bowl props. And Sean, you played against Tom
Brady back in the day. The goat talk between Brady
(09:55):
and Mahomes has already begun. I mean it kind of
began a couple of years ago. To be totally honest
with you, But if Mahomes wins this one, he'll be
four and one in the Super Bowl. He'll need three
more in fifteen years to ty Brady. But I gotta
ask you, as a former defender, who would you rather
face Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 4 (10:14):
Well, I don't want if you need one of them.
To be honest, you gotta pick one.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
You gotta pick one.
Speaker 5 (10:20):
But but I'll say this, at the pace now I'm
looking at you know, Tom Brady had a long, lust
year's career at the pace of Patrick Mahomes. I would
rather see Tom because if he wins this, you know,
this third super Bowl back to back, as this three
peat happens, then you at that point, you're starting to
play with house money, right because at that point it's
just it's about momentous about the team just going in
(10:43):
the right direction. And with Tom, you know they he
played us some great teams, but also when he wants
super Bowl, that's those teams wasn't so great. It wasn't
as great as some of the other teams he wants
super Bowls. It's just the fact of Patrick Mahomes finding
ways to win and nothing jumps off the stat sheet.
That's the skin areous parts about this team. When you
look at the end of the game, you know, it's
(11:03):
not like they're thrown for.
Speaker 4 (11:04):
A bunch of yards. They're not rushing for a bunch
of yards.
Speaker 5 (11:06):
The defense in the in the in the middle of
the pack, and you look at that scoreboard and they
won two by touchdown and he's like how how and
so you can't really put a finger on how these
guys winning.
Speaker 4 (11:16):
Uh, they can go out and find ways to win
the bowl game.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
Seawing you the man, great stuff, Enjoy super Sunday and
we'll talk down the road.
