Our non stop coverage joke. Seahawkstraining camp continues from the Virginia Mason Athletics
Center, brought to you by NorthwestHandling Systems and the twenty twenty four Boeing
Classic gauga's fifth through the eleventh. Now Beck to Saftian Dick Gun Sports Radio
ninety three point three KJR FM.All Right, boys and girls, Busy

(00:21):
Tuesday continues. I'm at the ebroQui Casino. Dick is at the vMac
where we are joined now by aguy who I don't know. I think
we got maybe three and a halffour more years to pass Largin and then
he can call it quits if hewants. He's not going anywhere until he
gets past Steve eight thousand yards. You're about fifty one hundred, five thousand

(00:42):
and change Tyler from passing Largin, and we want you to stay until you
break that record. Man, tenthyear in the NFL. Tada Lockett joins
us from the vMac. How areyou, man, man? I'm doing
pretty good. Man Bliss, Well, it is great to hear your voice
when you hear that ten years inthe NFL. That little kid that played
pee wee football back in the dayhigh school football. If I would have

(01:03):
told you one Friday night after ahigh school game, dude, you're gonna
have minimum a ten year career inthe NFL, how would you have thought
about that? I would have smiled, Because first and foremost, it's hard
to get into the league and thenthe average once you get in is about
three to three and a half.So just being able to have that opportunity
to be able to go play,be able to play at a high level,

(01:26):
stay on one team thus far inmy career, I mean, it's
super exciting. How have you beenable to battle father time? Because I
think what two and a half threeyears is the average NFL career And when
you play out there, you looklike you're twenty five, And have you
been able to do that year afterthere? Just the consistency every season.
Oh, I appreciate it, man. I think the biggest thing for me
is just finding different ways to grindin a smart way, not being able

(01:49):
to try to put too much atoll on my body, but just being
able to go out there and knowknowing the ins and outs of what I
need to do to be able toget myself ready and get myself prepared obviously,
you know, come with a lotof faith, and it also comes
with a lot of luck. Youknow, you need things to be able
to just play in your favor attimes. And I think for me,
I've tried to take advantage of everyopportunity that I've been given, whether it

(02:10):
was with special teams or whether itwas a receiver, and just being able
to try to be consistent and resilientand just somebody that people can be able
to depend on. I think it'salso helped me throughout my career. Well,
the depend on part is totally underrated. I mean, I'm knocking on
wood right now. Guys. Idon't know how superstitious you are, Tyler,
but your career with you know, all these games that you played,

(02:35):
You've been playing pretty much every gamesince twenty nineteen. I mean, how
do you do that? Like, what do you do with your routine?
What do you do with your health, your diet to make sure that you're
as ready as possible and as durableas possible. I mean, I think
the biggest thing is I do whateverit takes, whatever it needs to be
done, and be able to takecare of my body, whether sometimes it's
cryo cold tub normatic game ready, scray been such and cups. Wow,

(03:02):
looking at dry needling. I mean, it's not like I do those things
every single day, but that soundslike being Dickett ready for the show.
By the way, that's right exactlywhat I do. I got some massages
going on. But I mean,I think the other biggest thing, too,
man, is when you stay onone team for a very long time,
you got the athletic training staff andthe guys who do a great job

(03:22):
with having the chips in our jerseysand stuff. They get a feel of
who you are as a player,of kind of like getting the understanding of
how much of a load you couldbe able to do out there on a
practice field before something starts to becomenagging. And so they do a great
job being able to take care ofme as well. Well, you've been
here a long time, but youhave been with a lot of different play
callers, a lot of different offenses. And so here we are with Ryan

(03:45):
Grubb as the new offensive coordinator. What kind of sets him apart? What
makes this passing game different than whatyou've seen the last decade here? Well,
I mean I think when I thinkabout Grubs offense, it kind of
reminds me back into the K Statedays when we play Big twin football.
You see a lot of guys beingable to run not so much similar offenses,
but just tempo, being able totake what teams give you, being

(04:08):
able to put teams in a buyingbased off of the coverages that they play
with the alignments and the splits. So I think Grubs is super super smart,
and I think it's showing when we'reout there. We're seeing some routes
that I told one radio group thatyou know, you got to hot route
that on Madden or NCAA just toget that you know scheme, and he
already has that scheme down pack,and I think it's it's I think it's

(04:30):
a really great offense man, becauseyou know, if a team plays the
sticks, you can be able toget explosives behind them. If they played
the explosives, you're able to getto the sticks. So it's not like
everybody's going to the sticks. Soit's not like everybody's going for deep passes.
And so I think it gives youknow, the quarterbacks time to be
able to check people off before theplay even starts based off of the coverages.

(04:53):
So you know, he doesn't haveto spend time trying to read every
single thing going on. He couldbe able to cancel out some of our
routes, which gives him a betterunderstanding of kind of like who he wants
to go to Tyler Lockett with usand Tyler. You guys have your first
preseason game a week from Saturday againstthe Chargers. I don't expect you to
look up or know things like this, so I'll do it for you.

(05:13):
But on certain websites, tickets arethree dollars to get in the door to
watch the game next Saturday, andit's becoming a parent that less and less
teams really care about these games froma starter perspective. You know, Caleb
Williams is not going to play inthe Bear Texan game. I'm trying to
remember the last time you played ina preseason game, but it certainly feels
like we are going towards more regularseason less preseason. As a ten year

(05:38):
now veteran in the NFL, wouldyou be in favor of eighteen, maybe
even twenty games in ditching the preseasonaltogether or do those games still have needed
value? You think? I thinkthose games have much needed value because sometimes
guys might not be practiced players andmore of game players, and so being
able to go out there and beingable to showcase which you can do allows

(06:00):
all thirty two teams, well reallythirty one teams to be able to see
what you could be able to do. There's times where we've played some of
these teams in preseasons and those guysget cut. Example, Nico Thorpe I
remember we played him whenever he waswith the Raiders last preseason game, and
then we ended up signing them, and look how long he played with us
after that. So there's a numerousamount of guys that end up going to

(06:24):
a team that they end up playingin preseason. I think if you take
the preseason out, it really doesa disservice to a lot of guys to
be able to show all the otherteams what they can be able to do,
because there's one team that can onlysee what you can do, and
at that point they could get hitting. You know, a lot of times
people don't talk about how teams canhide the player because they don't want anybody
else to see how great that playeris, because they can save them and

(06:46):
put them on practice squad and thegames, it's very difficult to do that
as long as they take care oftheir bodies. I don't agree more so
with the twenty games. I thinkthat you know, preseason gives a lot
of fans or tunities to come tothe games. There's times where tickets are
too high and kids can't come tothe games, and you know, all
they could do is watch it onTV. But it's getting to the point

(07:09):
where even ordering it on TV isvery, very difficult, And so I
think, you know, even thoughit's three dollars or whatever the case is,
that three dollars is meaningful to peoplethat never had chances to be able
to come. And I mean I'veplayed in almost a preseason game every year.
It's just a couple of plays, but I think, you know,
you get the kinks out the preseason. So I do think it's much needed

(07:30):
and much helpful. I just thinkthere's so much revenue in the regular season
games. When you look at theTVs, you look at the social media,
you look at you know, allthese other apps and stuff that want
to be able to buy on purchaseso we could play on TV. It
just makes it so much more difficultto say, should we keep these preseason
games because you know, for alot of people, it is about money.

(07:55):
Tyler Lockett joining us, Gino's aboutyour vintage. He's been around about
as long as as you have.Is there's still something to be unlocked in
Geno Smith? And if so,what is it? I mean, of
course, I think that, youknow, ever since he got an opportunity
to play, he's been playing ata high level. You know, he's
been Pro Bowl back to back.I think he's been showcasing what he can
do. And I mean people forgetkind of like all the things he had

(08:16):
to go through just to be ableto get to this place. I think,
you know, his story is agreat story that shows people that you
gotta be resilient and you got tobe dedicated and committed to the grind,
and sometimes it does take years tobe able to get your chance and opportunity
because if you sit behind people, sometimes you can waste those years and waste
those practices and waste those moments intimes where you could get better. And

(08:39):
I think he's been getting better eachand every day. I think he's you
know, I think he's taking thisgame to another level. Thus far as
we started workouts, and stuff. He's throwing some really really amazing balls.
You've seen DK catch an amazing touchdownup back there one hand. You got
Bobo yesterday, DK today. SoI mean, I think everybody's kind doing

(09:00):
their part, and we can seethis offense coming alone really good tyl to
lock it with us. We hada chin on the air a few days
ago and asked them about facing thisnew look Ryan Grubb offense, and his
head almost spun off his shoulders,by the way, talking about everything that
you guys are throwing at the defense, what about what you're seeing from the
defensive side. It's a brand newscheme, right, Mike McDonald. People

(09:20):
think he's the best defensive mind walkingplanet Earth. I mean, give us
a take of what you're seeing fromthat side of the ball that looks different
and brand new from last year.I think their defense is really really amazing,
if you ask me, I thinkthe way that they play defense is
very skilled and oriented and very detailed. You put the corners in a position

(09:41):
where they're not really in a bind, but they're able to work together,
and sometimes they pick and choose whetherthey want to funnel things inside or funnel
things outside. The safeties are reallygood at being able to play the defense.
I think the biggest thing is youdon't have to depend on one person
and be great. You have todepend on each and every person and do
their part. More so, andjust being able to communicate. I think
it's hard to run its defense ifyou don't communicate, and so it forces

(10:05):
people to have to, like talk, It forces people to have to be
able to explain what's being able togo on, because if you don't communicate,
then everyone's frustrated. And so Ithink everybody's been doing a great job
so far in camp just being ableto communicate and talk. And when people
learn where their leverages are and wheretheir help is, it makes your job
so much easier as a defender.Hawks wide receiver Tyler Locket joining this final

(10:26):
couple of minutes here you mentioned DKwith the one handed catch. I mean,
I can just hear Seahawk fans everywhere. You gotta target the beast.
It's not like they don't want targetsfor you. They love targets for you,
But it just seems like there's moreto be had with fourteen. How
do we do that in twenty twentyfour? I mean, you know that's

(10:46):
not my job. That's the coach'sjob. I mean, you know,
they pick and choose the players ifthey want to be able to run things
through. And I think the coolthing about our group is that, you
know, if we got to bea decoyed and we'll be a decoy.
You know, if we got tobe able to run the rounds to get
other people open, and we'll dothat. You know, we can't be
a selfish group. And I thinkthat, you know, DK is an

(11:09):
amazing receiver. I do think thatif he's gotten the amount of targets that
a lot of these other players havegotten, that he would get just as
much credit, if not more, because of the type of player that he
is, the type of explosions, explosive if that he has, like all
that different type of stuff. Ijust think that it's you know, it's
just difficult because you know, atone point, we've always been more of
a run first offense. That couldstill be the case. You know,

(11:31):
even as we go into this year, we're still gonna take what teams give
us. But you know, Ithink that he is taking his game to
another level as he enters it too. Year six, And I think that
there is more for you know, him to be able to showcase, and
I think he's showing us each andevery day in camp. Tyler, if
you were in charge, who wouldyou cut and who would you keep?

(11:54):
Kennick. Hey, when the careeris over and you're doing radio, we
can talk about rosters and all thatstuff. For now, you just keep
kicking ass and focus on being thebest receiver you can be, because we
are damn lucky to have you inthis town. Tyler Lockett, great stuff,
good luck this year. We'll talkdown the road, buddy, appreciate
it. You got it, man. Tyler Lockett with us on the radio
