(00:54):
match Show starts now.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
Well.
Speaker 4 (00:57):
The good news for the Seattle Sounders is this week
is a new week and they are getting a little
bit healthier Peter de la Vega, Jordan Morris. But the
bad news is we are coming off of a three
to nothing loss in San Diego where we saw two
more minor injuries. So tonight the Rave Green will continue
themselves on the road another road game. They're third straight
(01:18):
as they're in Frisco, Texas to face FC Dallas. So
welcome to the Sounders FC pre match show presented by Providence,
Swedish official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC. And I'll
mention that tonight's match is presented by the Western Washington
Toyota Dealers Jackson Feltz alongside not only the Sounders legend,
the United States men's national team. Like Marcus Hanneman in
(01:39):
your old school jersey, Marcu's good to have you here.
Speaker 5 (01:41):
Yeah, thanks for having me my first one this year.
Speaker 6 (01:44):
I love I love the jersey. By the way, that
is old. What year is that from?
Speaker 5 (01:47):
Uh ninety five? That's tremendous.
Speaker 6 (01:51):
I think that's that's fantas.
Speaker 5 (01:52):
I thought you would like it. I had to wear it.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
I love classic retro soccer gear and the US soccer gear,
especially simply Seattle just came out with some retro US
soccer stuff and anything retro is like, Yes, I love that.
Speaker 6 (02:06):
That's a great look right there.
Speaker 4 (02:08):
All right, we are talking Sounders FC Dallas tonight. There's
a lot to get to, but Marcus, let's just start off,
because this is obviously a team that's had a little
bit of a difficult stretch over the last few and
you know, the last week's three nothing lost that San
Diego wasn't pretty for a lot of reasons. And at
the end of the day, it's a team that has
to kind of come together, get Pedro de la Vega
(02:29):
back this week and and try to improve on a
tough week last week.
Speaker 5 (02:33):
Yeah it was a bad week, but you let goals
in in the first five minutes, right, It's always difficult
those early goals, and then trying to come back, and
you've got a team, a new team, and you know
sometimes you go to those new expansion teams and you think, okay, yeah,
we're going to be fine, and you know, we just
need to play and guess what, they outcompete us. Early goal, right,
and changes changes everything, and now we're chasing it.
Speaker 6 (02:56):
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
And for San Diego, I mean a few years ago,
Saint Louis that great inaugural year for them, and San
Diego is off to another hot start and we'll see
where they end up finishing. But it seems like San
Diego know what they're doing and they have a plan
and they have a way they like to play, and
as Danny Jackson said on the broadcast, they certainly enjoyed
their football last week and that three nothing win. But
for the Sounders, it's coming back tonight. I've mentioned Pedo
(03:19):
dale Vega twice now, so let's quickly dive into the delta.
Starting eleven for the Sounders, Pedro de Levegga is starting.
He's going to be starting in this three four three
in the right pocket underneath Danny Mazowski. Heyes, Whu's frere
in the left pocket under Danny Mazowski. Your center backs
Jackson Reagan in the middle, Jamar Gomez, Androtti and knew
who off to the left, Stephan Frying golf course right
(03:41):
wing back Kolani Coza Rienzi, left wing back Paul Rothrock
and the two in the middle of the park, oh
Beed Vargas and Christian Rule Don and Marcus. For me,
I mean Pedro dle Vega when he was healthy at
you know, five weeks ago before last time, he really
kind of started for us, and he throughout the whole
start of year when he was healthy has looked so
(04:02):
good and it feels like we saw what Pedro Deo
Vega could be when he's on fire, and we hope
that he can be that type of guy for us
again today for sure.
Speaker 5 (04:13):
And you know there's a lot of like muscle strains
and different injuries happening with the Sounders and it's always
it's always crazy when you see that, but you know
he's back, and yeah, he has that explosive speed, the power.
You know, he's got high energy. He's getting in behind
and he's always finds himself in good pockets, right, And
(04:35):
that's what good players do, right. Sometimes it's you know,
you don't have to be that great of a goal scorer.
My first Sounders team, Chance Fry, he was the slowest
person on earth and he would always score because he
knew where to stand. He couldn't even like if you
didn't have anybody in front of you, he couldn't even
score on you from outside the eighteen. But he would
just find ways to score, right, and he'd find that
(04:57):
little pocket. And that's kind of with these good players,
like he'll find that little soft spot and he just
finds the ball.
Speaker 4 (05:03):
Anders I feel like we need to cut up that
on chance playing for him, make sure we have it
for the next time chance on a broadcast.
Speaker 6 (05:10):
But really, I mean, and we've seen it too.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
And andrews Hurst, our producer, to o't bring him in
because you know, he played with Paul Rothrock, you played
under Pete Fewing at Seattle University, you write sounders for
Emerald City Spectrum, and I know you've really liked what
you've seen from Pedro dale Vega so far this year.
Speaker 7 (05:26):
Yeah, it just sucks the timing of his injury because
he was really starting to kind of get going. And
I think it's so important for him, especially the way
he plays, to kind of build chemistry with these guys,
and they need to know where he is on the
pitch and kind of where he likes to pop up,
how he likes to, you know, have the ball played
into him. Pete talks about that all the time. But yeah,
I just think this is a good opportunity for him.
I think he'll be on a minute's count today. We'll
see what kind of ends up happening with how long
(05:47):
he's able to go. But it's a great opportunity for
him to come in and kind of write the ship
for sounders. Could last couple of weeks have not been
very pretty.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
Yeah, I like that you mentioned the minutes count because
we're gonna hear some audio from head coach Brian Schmtzer.
He was on the other KJR station, ninety three point
three FM with myself and Dave Softy Maler last night.
We're going to hear a couple minutes from Brian Schmitzer
later on where he talks about that minute situation and
that I mean, Marcus, you mentioned the injuries and it's
a perfect chance to dive into the Providence speech team
(06:14):
health report. Peter de la Vega off the injury report
with his quad, Jordan Morris also off the injury report
with his hamstring. But good news everybody, Jordan Morris is
on the bench today. He is available for head coach
Brian Schenzer, off the injury report and very clearly kind
of just working back as we want to make sure
Jorde Morris doesn't reaggravate anything, kind of like Pedro de
(06:36):
la Vega was off the injury report last week and
played thirty minutes against San Diego. So we'll see what
Jordan Morris can give today. Still on the report though,
as out of course, we have Paul Ariola with the
knee Alex Chroldn with the quad, Albert Rusnak with an adductor.
There is confidence so that Brian gave gave on KJR
last night that Alex and Albert may be able to
(06:58):
return next weekend and they'll be in training come next Tuesday.
So hopefully not too long for for Alex and Albert.
But while we have Albert out Marcus, we have Hasu's
Ferrera in that left pocket underneath forward and Hasu's Frera.
You know, for all the amazing work that he's done
with Dallas over the years, hasn't gotten into a groove
(07:20):
here with Seattle so far.
Speaker 5 (07:22):
No, it takes a while to build that chemistry, right,
and you know, Dallas, how they play is different than
how we play, and you know, it just it's gonna
take time. And hopefully, you know that that needs to
happen at some stage, right, Hopefully that spark happens tonight.
And you know sometimes when you're playing, you don't need
like to play great, you just need like that lucky
(07:44):
goal to kind of spark things.
Speaker 6 (07:45):
Right, Yeah, break break the damn right.
Speaker 5 (07:48):
Yeah. And you know, like I always joke about, it's
like you just need that forward to like fall over
inside the six and then it hits off his back
and goes in and he gets credit for the goal.
And then next thing you know, he goes on a
five game streak with that, with scoring every game. You know,
that's what we need.
Speaker 4 (08:04):
Well, hopefully Hayesu's can find the back of the net
tonight as he's working up top there with Mazowski and
with Pedro Dalea Vega, Klani Cozerienzi's getting the start tonight. Andrews,
I know that you've been really high on what you've
seen from Kilanie out of the University of Washington, first
round draft pick, and another opportunity with Alex Holdan injured
for Kalani to come in and make impressions.
Speaker 7 (08:24):
Yeah, he makes impacts on the game in the little areas.
I think he does his job defensively and then kind
of gets forward when his team needs to. And in
the absence of Alex Roldan, who gives you that with
outside puts great crosses in, you're gonna need someone to
kind of fill that role, especially if you're gonna stick
with this three four to three formation, which it seems
like they're going to do going forward. So I really
(08:45):
think This is a big game for him to kind
of prove that he can do it at this level.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
Marcus.
Speaker 4 (08:48):
The interesting thing that Andrews mentioned the three four three,
because that's kind of been a new look this year,
and obviously formations, you know, there's numbers, right, they change
and flow. But you wonder what happens today if a
result doesn't go Seattle's way, if Brian Schmitzer does end
up going back to a four two three one that
he's ran for most of his time here.
Speaker 5 (09:08):
Dude, I hate them all. So I'm old school. I
want four four two. It's simple. I got four guys
right in front of me, I got another four guys,
and then I got two guys up there who I
don't count on right as a goalkeeper. That's what I want. Crazy,
This just doesn't even make sense to me. Every time
I've done it, it's never worked. I don't like it.
(09:29):
Four four two Schmitzer.
Speaker 4 (09:32):
I think we'll get on the production call next week
and then walk through exactly what he needs to do.
But hopefully, listen, hopefully they win and then justify as well.
Speaker 6 (09:40):
See, we're just gonna keep it.
Speaker 5 (09:41):
I hope, I'm I hope I'm wrong.
Speaker 6 (09:42):
I k be wrong.
Speaker 5 (09:44):
Well, I haven't been wrong yet, or I was once,
but I thought I was wrong.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
Yeah, Jackson O. Reagan starts in the middle of that
three back line. He had a rough day against San Diego.
Certainly need a better Jackson Reagan out there tonight for
the Sounders.
Speaker 6 (10:02):
To get a result at FC Dallas.
Speaker 4 (10:04):
We were talking to Brian this morning and obviously Luciano Acosta.
You know, if he isn't the best, he's one of
the best players in the field. Tonight the twenty twenty
three MLSMVP and Brian talked about how they need an
established possession today in order to eliminate a Luciano Acosta's
impact because he is such a good player there in
the midfield, number ten for Dallas, and I will be
(10:24):
just to see if new who also stays home. Knew
who kind of got going up the left side and
that led to San Diego goals, so knew who's staying
home could be one of the keys as well in
this one. But on that point of Luciano Acosta, it's
a good chance to take a break and come back
and talk about this FC Dallas team. There are some
faces that we know as facing Western Conference teams. They
(10:45):
also have some new guys here to FC Dallas. As
we are just about a half hour away from kickoff
down in Frisco, Texas. Today's countdown to Kickoff is presented
by Emerald Quinen Casino, the entertainment capital of the Northwest.

Speaker 4 (14:10):
Welcome back to the Providence, Swedish premat show Sounders down
in Frisco, Texas to face FC Dallas. It's a Dallas
team that is pre confidence solid right now. They've kind
of come together in the early part of the season.
Three two and two eleven points, fifth place in the
Western Conference, just three points back of what we team
we talked about last segment, San Diego in second place.
(14:31):
They both scored and given up ten goals through the
first seven games, wins over Houston, RSL, Kansas City. Their
only losses are to Chicago and first place Vancouver as well.
They're playing quite well. They have a new head coach,
Eric Quill, who was named head coach last November after
a year with New Mexico United. Before that assistant coach
with Columbus Crew. Also played many many years in MLS,
(14:54):
including one year with Dallas back in four toh five.
Speaker 6 (14:58):
So this is a Dallas team that the.
Speaker 4 (15:00):
Listen, we were just talking the break and we can
kind of continue that conversation of you have Anderson Julio,
a fast winger, you have patar musa up top, dangerous
forward as well, big bodied, and it's one of those
things where if who if Anderson Julio gets running at you, Marcus,
it definitely screams to make sure that our center backs,
all three of them are on point because we may
(15:22):
need all three back tonight in order to not give
up a goal like we did in San Diego.
Speaker 5 (15:26):
Yeah, and you need cover right when you know you
always have to have cover, So if somebody's dribbling at
a defender, you want somebody who's then covering right. And
with three at the back, you don't always have that
right and you know you look at you know Reagan
and Yamar I think is traditional center backs. Knew who
I think is an attacking left left back for me right,
(15:50):
So imagine if you had you know, Alex rolled in
if we're playing four like our best team right, knew
who Reagan Yamar rolled in, if knew who goes forward
then and then Alex stays right, so you always have
that three and you got cover. Reagan would then be
happy going out and Jamar slides over, Reagan goes and
you leave the far one right.
Speaker 4 (16:09):
The problem is is that right now in this three
center back format, and we saw it against San Diego.
Is knew who a center back will think he is
an attacking left back at moments he gets high up
the field and as we saw against San Diego, he's
at fault for one of the goals and you kind
of look and say and make sure knew who does
stay back because we are going to need him against
what can at times be an offensive team and say
(16:32):
what was very offensive team in San Diego and can
occasionally be ten goals on the year for Dallas as well.
Speaker 7 (16:38):
Yeah, you'd hope that like having the mentality of the
Euro center back and not an outside back, and you
have the wingbacks quote unquote up ahead of you in
Rothrock and now Coosa Rienzi in this formation today gives
you that mentality. Okay, I don't need to provide that
with My job is just to defend, so to simplify
the game. And that's where I think Knew who's at
his best when he's just a straight up defender and
he stays home. But the question is well with whether
(17:00):
he will do that or not figure question that's a
big question because listen, this is a Dallas team. Also,
they're getting the first start.
Speaker 4 (17:10):
From a nineteen year old Brazilian Kayak from Gremio and Brazil,
just just signed here recently. Two appearances so far. He
gets the start because they're dealing with a few injuries
as well. We talked about Seattle's injuries, but for Dallas,
Marco far Fans out with what Dallas lists as multiple
legs injuries. Giovanna Jesus's out with a knee injury, sebastianal
(17:33):
Lejet out with an upper leg injury, Paxton Pommecoll out
with a knee injury as well. They are also a
very injured team, so thus they get the start from
Kayak and should be mentioned as well. Leo Chu. Leo
Chu is available for FC Dallas. He was of course
traded to Dallas in the Heyesus Ferreira deal back in January.
Three games so far, a goal didn't work out here really,
(17:55):
you know, he kind of just kind of fell out
of the squad. But it sort of as one of
those things, Marcus, like a change of scenery has given
Leo Chung new life there.
Speaker 5 (18:04):
Yeah, because he it didn't work out for him here, right,
and you know there are games where he looked super promising.
He was getting in getting crosses in and then games
where you're like cross the ball, across the ball, you're
like what is going on? And he didn't get any
crosses in right. And when I think of an outside
winger attacking winger, I think of like, what are they doing?
(18:25):
Are they and for that you have to provide crosses right.
That's their main statistic that you need to look at
unless they're playing you know, if you're a right footed
player playing on the left side, you're gonna come inside right.
So then but now it's creating space for your left
back when you come inside where you're playing a right
foot on the left, so it creates that space. But
it just didn't quite work out.
Speaker 4 (18:46):
I didn't indeed. But Dallas still has some good pieces.
Speaker 6 (18:49):
He's been good.
Speaker 4 (18:50):
I mentioned Moosa, he and both Luciano Costo leading Dallas
with three goals each. Moosa also has three assists by
the way, so he's a forward who can kind of
do it all. Big bodied are going to be a
tough matchup today for Jackson, Reagan, Jemargomez Andrade to match
that big body there. We'll take a break here on
the premat show. We'll come back with our Sounders FC.
Speaker 3 (19:10):
Players to watch today.
Speaker 4 (19:11):
We'll also hear a little bit from head coach Brian Schmitzer.

Sounders down in Frisco, Texas to face FC Dallas tonight.
Welcome back to the Providence Swedish premat show, Jackson Feltz,
Marcus Hanneman. We're also including our producer today anders Hurst,
because he knows quite a few, probably more than I
do about soccer. For being honest, I wouldn't say I know, Bob,
I can talk you at least played. But let's get
into it before we hear from brun Schmeinster. Let's get
(22:53):
into our players to watch. Marcus, who you looking at
from the delta starting eleven?
Speaker 5 (22:56):
Well, we are talking about, you know, the back three,
so I got to go new Who and you know,
under a little bit of criticism from the last game,
but knew who is that attack? He's got that attack
minded right, so if he does go forward, someone else
has to sit back, right, So I'm sure Rothrock is
on unnoticed. If you see new Who run past, you
get back in the hole, right, But knew Who's my
(23:18):
guy to watch?
Speaker 6 (23:19):
Andrews?
Speaker 7 (23:20):
Speaking on that note, I'm gonna go Paul Rothrock because
I think he's kind of struggled to impact the game
as much as kind of we saw last year with
him in the last few so I want to see
kind of that directness that we saw so often from
him last season. So kind of go, let's get a
goal in an assist today.
Speaker 5 (23:34):
I like that.
Speaker 4 (23:35):
I mean for Rothrock as well, who's been kind of
last year fully offensive players. So it kind of fits
in from weight go both. You guys are talking about
those multiple roles there, we'll see he can do it.
I'm going to Hayesus Ferreira because at some point the
damn's gonna break. I don't know if this is it,
but the way I look at it is. And he
talked midweek and he did admit there will be a
little extra juice flown through him going back to his
(23:57):
old home, and he clearly did not like the way
things ended with FC Dallas. He said it was kind
of just the writing was on the wall. I think
was one of the first things he said. And you know,
there are still some feelings there. And if he can
let that flow through into a good performance and let
that flow through into a goal that finally breaks the
dam I would love that for Heesus Frera because we
(24:18):
certainly need it as he is starting today in the
left pocket underneath Danny Mazowski. All right, let's get to
Brian Schmitzer here. This audio is actually from yesterday he
joined myself and Dave Softy Maler on ninety three point
three KJRFM. We talked about a number of things, including Frera,
including FC Dallas, but here we'll just start where I
asked Brian Schmitzer about the minutes limits that Jordan Morris
(24:41):
and Pedro dla Vega are going to have. Jordan Morris
on the bench, Pedro de Levega in the starting lineup.
What kind of minutes the restrictions are those two guys
going to have.
Speaker 22 (24:49):
Both of them are on minute restrictions, So de la
Vega played thirty minutes. Jordan, this is his first game back,
but you know, he's shown that he's been pretty resilient.
He's had a couple of good training days this week.
You know the minus four, the minus three, the hardest
days of the week. Jordan could tolerate those. So we'll
(25:10):
have to see how it goes. And remember we have
those GPS things in their back. We'll actually know Jordan's
sprint distance and Pedro's sprint distance, and so once they
pick up on those markers, then we'll have to take
them off.
Speaker 6 (25:25):
Brian quick got on Dallas.
Speaker 4 (25:27):
You know Acosta Moosa team that's been pretty good, good
results over the last few weeks.
Speaker 6 (25:33):
What are your thoughts on this Dallas team.
Speaker 22 (25:35):
Yeah, some good results and some not so good results,
but decent team. You mentioned a Coat and Musa, they're
their two biggest players. But the guy who's been surprising
has been Legit. I mean, he's a little older, played
with the Galaxy for a while, but he's having a
you know, kind of a reburse He's He's been really
good for them. They've got sound goalkeeping. I Biaga, the
center back, decent. I've always kind of liked him, so
(25:56):
good team. New coach, you know, you always get that
a little bit of coach bump as well. So it'll
be a.
Speaker 5 (26:02):
Tough match being in Dallas, kind of a homecoming for
Jesus Ferira.
Speaker 23 (26:06):
How do you get more out of this guy?
Speaker 1 (26:08):
And is it possible that the extra motivation for him
is what he kind of needs to maybe break the
dame a little bit here.
Speaker 22 (26:15):
So there's a balance here, because yes, he is super
motivated to play against his former team. You know, it's
a Shane par Paul Ariola did the ACL. I know
he'd be motivated, but then you've got to balance that
with him trying to do too much, too much pressure.
You know, the media wants this story. Oh here's Heyesus' homecoming,
(26:35):
So we're trying to shield him a little bit from
too many you know, press obligations. But Heyesus is ready
to go. You know, he's going to play in that
left pocket where Albert usually plays, and I think he
actually perverts playing there. So I'm hoping for a big
game for him. But look, it is a team sport.
The rest of the team has to help him out.
Speaker 4 (26:55):
We are hoping for a big game from Jesus Ferra.

About eight minutes away from kickoff down in Frisco, Texas.
Sounders FC versus FC Dallas. Today's kind of to Kioff
has been presented by Emerald Queen Casino, the entertainment capital
of the Northwest. Wrapping up the pre match show here,
we'll get to keys the match in a moment. I
won't say that this match here today marks the first
match of the season between Sounders and Dallas, so right now,
(30:59):
this will be the four forty sixth time these two
teams have met overall regular season plus playoffs. That ties
the La Galaxy with the most times most games against
any single opponent since the Sounders came into MLS, So
Dallas La Galaxy, we haven't played anybody more than we've
played those two teams as at forty six times. Now
(31:20):
overall we lead the season series, the overall series twenty one,
eleven and thirteen, so way over on that and we'll
try to make it another win today. The last meeting
should mention was June twenty second of last year at
lumin Field, where we had that amazing three to two
comeback win. We were trailing to nothing entering the seventy
eighth minute and then ended up scoring three in the
(31:43):
final fifteen, including a Jordan Morris game winning goal in
second half stoppage time. So Hopefully we don't make that
as dramatic tonight because that would take another couple of
years off my life. But a win would sure be good.
All right, Marcus, let's get to your keys the match
Sounders at Dalla.
Speaker 6 (32:00):
What are your keys for Seattle?
Speaker 5 (32:01):
Well, the same they were last weekend as against San Diego,
but nobody heard me say this. So today we're gonna
get it. I got it. Don't let them score in
the first five minutes. The first five minutes of the game,
especially away from home, is super critical, like in the
first half, then the last five minutes of the first half, right,
you can't be chasing the game, right, and that's where
we lost the game last week. And you know, if
(32:23):
you ever heard me talk before, I say this every game, right,
the first five minutes are super critical. You state your
importance on the game, how you're going to play, your intensity, everything,
and if you can't do that, it's why the Sounders
weren't able to come back.
Speaker 4 (32:36):
You got to be turned on, right, You got to
be on at all times because if you do, you know,
try to out.
Speaker 6 (32:41):
Okay, we're just you know, working into the game.
Speaker 4 (32:43):
It was a corner kick in the fifth minute and
then you know, Lozano beats you and that's it.
Speaker 6 (32:48):
Game over.
Speaker 4 (32:48):
It's one nothing and that's all they needed. Right, So
you just got to be on all your p's and
q's at every single second because that goal could come
in the first, second, third, fifth minutes.
Speaker 5 (32:58):
Well, especially away from home too, right, because now you're
chasing it, right, it's difficult, and so you've got to
start right well.
Speaker 6 (33:04):
Brian Schpenzer talked about it earlier today.
Speaker 4 (33:06):
This is a team facing FC Dallas where Luciano Acosta,
former MLS MVP, he's in their midfield. He is a dangerous,
dangerous player. Asked him, how do you reduce Luciano Acossa's impact.
Brian said, they have to establish possession today and also
got to keep new Who back because we saw new Who.
We talked about it again. Every single segment he got
(33:27):
forward against San Diego. It burned the Sounders. Let's make
sure we don't get burned today by Musa and Acosta
and some good players for FC Dallas. We'll be back
for the halftime show. We'll hand things off to Danny
Jackson and callan row. They'll have the call Sounders in Frisco, Texas,

Speaker 3 (36:52):
Good evening Sounders Fans from Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas
for this all important early season clash between you Sounders
and FC Dallas. FC Dallas coming to this game with
an overhauled team and coaching staff. Sitting in sixth position
coming into the weekend and unbeaten in their last three games,
Dallas are starting to gel With big offseason signing Lucci
(37:16):
Acosta pul in the strings, Dallas are pushing to jump
into the top four with a win tonight. For Your Sounders,
it's been a long week as they absorb a heavy
three to nor loss in San Diego in their last outing.
Bran Schmetze has been here before, of course, but the
team is going to start feeling the pressure to get
back on the winning trail. A defense which has been
(37:37):
so stout over the past few years is leaking goals
and the team is struggling to find their offensive threat.
But the return of Pedro della Vega, Jordan Morris and
the return of Jesus Ferrera to his old club might
be the tonic the team needs to get over the hump.
I'm Danny Jackson alongside Kellen Rowe here in the booth.
Before we get to Kellen for his initial thoughts, let's
(37:58):
get you the Delta starting at eleven for Your Sounders,
a couple of changes for Brian Schmittzer Stefan fein Gole
saying back three have Jemar Reagan and Nuho klany Co.
Srienzi slides on the right hand side in place of
the injured Alex Roldan. He'll be Rolled, He'll be Christian
Rolldan and Vargas in the middle, Paul Rothbrock on the
left hand side. Jesus Ferrera will sit in the pocket
(38:21):
alongside Pedro Dolavega gaining his start after thirty minutes coming
off the bench last week, and then Danny Mussovski gets
a start up front for Dallas. It's a four to
two three one parsing goal, about four more okd Ibyaga
and Norris Cake and Rimero in the middle of department.
Two Brazilians, Kit gaining his first start in MLS tonight
(38:44):
and As and Julio former RSL Man starts on the
right hand side, Patrickson del Gado on the left, Luciano Acossa,
the five million men coming in from Cincinnati in the
off season, starts at the ten, and then Peta Musa
three goal, three assists starts upfront. So Callum, We're gonna
ask the question simple as this is tonight a must
(39:05):
win for the Sounders.
Speaker 6 (39:06):
Absolutely to start off this next kind of phase. Of
the season after going and going through and not having
a great start, can they similar to this game. Can
they kind of shut down those first five to ten
minutes and get through the rest of this season?
Speaker 25 (39:18):
And this game is gonna be big for them to
get that momentum going.
Speaker 3 (39:20):
All for the Sounders, as Jackson Felts mentioned, have had
success against Dallas over the years, twenty one wins for
the Sounders in regular season play, eleven losses at thirteen
toys And for the Sounders, it's about getting into this
difficult place to play. Eighty degrees right now at kickoff,
he'll drop into the mid seventies throughout the evening. But
(39:42):
the National Soccer Hall of Fame is here in Dallas.
We've certainly built up the area around the stadium. Sounders
are going to welcome and be supportive of that man,
Jesus Ferrera, who's gonna come in tonight and can he
get his first goal for the Sounders. Wouldn't that be
a story to tell if the Sounders could get him
on the board tonight against his old club. Lots of
(40:02):
family and friends, I'm sure in the stands tonight for Jesus,
and let's not forget Paul Ariola, former Dallas man as
well former captain of FC Dallas, such a promising start
to his Sounders' career. He unfortunately tour that acl had
just surgery just a couple of weeks ago and is
now on the men, which is the what all pros
(40:23):
one is get that surgery done now you can start
to focus forward. So Sounders in their new Salish sect
are going to be attacking the goal to our left,
Navy blue shirt, shorts and socks, and then Luciano Acosta
and Dallas get us going there in all white. Tonight
they're attacking the goal to our right. Ball goes along
good Win by Musa finds a Costa, no pressure on
(40:44):
the balls, able to turn right corner of the box,
rolls it out to the Ryan side to more early
cross in headed away by klan In Hohot clear by
rolled on. Sounders on their heels in the first couple
of minutes. Can they get Nick the ball off Ibiaga?
They can't headed forward? He comes Dallas again Sounders. As
Marcus Hanneman said, Kellen, it's all about these first few minutes.
(41:07):
Learnfully mistakes for last week. Can they get going early?
Referee pulls it back for an early free kick. A
little bit Vargas, I think on the deck could have
been an advantage given by the referee. But it's gonna
be a free kick inside the Sounders tech and half
the field.
Speaker 6 (41:19):
Kellen Burke, well, immediately you have Luca Caasa, who's one
of the best players in this league and it was
an MVP just two years ago. He has time and
space on the bar just twenty twenty five yards away.
Someone's got to be able to step to, whether it
be Vargas, Rodan or one of the center backs in
Yamar who ended up getting there later. It's gotta be
a little bit quicker it be. You gotta be on
the front foot. It's a minute in and he's already
having time and space on top of the box.
Speaker 25 (41:39):
It's not what the Silex Sounders want, yep.
Speaker 3 (41:41):
For the Sounders, they need to settle into the game tonight,
third straight away game for the Sounders. It's not been
easy pickings over the last couple of weeks. Of course,
four games, you know, all competitions without win. They really
need it, and there's a man who can maybe add
some life to the offensive threat of the sound As
Dela Vegas. The ball goes down the right hand side,
picked up for the Sounders and Khalan he tries to
(42:03):
cut it in. Of course, his last oouncing as the
starter was against LFC where he got on the board
early in the eleventh minute against ELFC and that five
to two win at home against Lumen and we can
believe it, that's the last time the Sounders have been
on the winning column. But here they go in their
second half of the field. Tries to roll the ball
into Mussovski. Good jacko by Oberd Vargas, clean and insighted.
(42:25):
Ball gets switched from center to the right. Here comes
Dela Vega, first meaningful action. Kenny Wriggle passed the back line.
He does takes your Shodi. Biaga comes across, good early block,
ball goes over the top cornerkick Sounders.
Speaker 6 (42:36):
It's the little things. Olvid Vargas getting in maybe not
the best of his touches in the start, but he
gets in that tackle and who's there. Jesus Ferrera obviously
wanted to make something for his former team, plays a
great ball out wide Page de la Vega do it does,
but he does best go one on one and find
a way in the corner for Seattle Sounders and hopefully
they can take.
Speaker 3 (42:52):
Advantage of and for Dela Viger, it was a good
start to his preseason. Four goals in pre season for
Dela Viga got off the ball a couple of times
in the early CONKERCAF games and Nick come the Sounders
with Ferrera farst side the right. What comes in. It's
hooked into the middle of the park. Hamba looks like attack.
Event is given by the referee. Referee was on the
blind side, didn't quite see it. Rothrock comes back manages
(43:16):
to Nick the ball off Romeiro. A quick throw by
Dallas down the line. He goes by more into the
foot of Julio. Good defending, strong defending by Jackson, just
read the play well. Julio stopped the ball. He was
able to flip it a win and then calmly plays
it in but given away slowly to moose the top
of the box and Kilroe. That's not what Brian Schmittz
(43:39):
is gonna won from his center back.
Speaker 6 (43:40):
Absolutely not. It looked Jackson Macan did a really good job.
There be much faster Julio against him. Got the ball away,
but you got to maybe sure you connect that first pass,
get them out because again on top of the box,
you don't want to give someone, anyone in Dallas that
much time.
Speaker 26 (43:54):
There's rolled on middle of the park.
Speaker 3 (43:56):
It's gonna roll it from center to the far side
the right to young Kilney de la Vega already getting involved.
Be good to get him a run of games. We'll
see what his minute count will be today. Thirty minutes
last week, coming off the bench when the sounds worth
three nil down, I asked Brian Schmitz about that decision.
He said, yeah, we needed to get him some games.
We need to get him some minutes. And the players
(44:18):
now are so regulated in terms of how many minutes
they can play depending on what their readings are during
the course of training. But here comes across the top
of the box, triggles free. Good sliding tackle by Nu,
who picked up in the middle of the party cake
on his first start, rolls it out to a Costa,
tries to find the foot of Julio, gets it back
right corner of the box, clipped in and.
Speaker 26 (44:40):
Headed away by rolled On and then good.
Speaker 3 (44:42):
Clearance by Nu who knocks it off the foot of
the oncoming Dallas defender. Goes out on this near site
for a Sounders throw.
Speaker 6 (44:49):
It looks as if the Seattle Sounders are kind of
just shooting himself in the foot. The first five minutes
of every came at the moment because they've given them
all the way atop of the bar of their own
box three or four times. Now, can they get it
find someone's feet if they need to. Dana Massowski is
good at holding the ball up. Can you find his feet,
his chest a way to kind of break it out
and not get the ball away at that back third.
Speaker 3 (45:07):
It's gonna be a throw for Dallas. On this near side,
they're right with Jack Moore came in from Nashville on
that right hand side. Ball rolls in center the park
to del Gardo to Norris, tries to find the ball
into a Cossa jumps over the ball clear by the Sounders,
but not too far. It's gonna be Delgado again. On
this left hand side, goes out to Norris, comes in
(45:29):
towards the near side of the six yard books. Musa
comes across, clips it over the top. It's gonna be
a Sounders throw in here. In the sixth minute, Toyda
Stadium Sports Radio nine fifty am Sounders nil, Dallas nil.
Speaker 6 (45:45):
It was a great cross and good run from Musa there,
but well done by Jackson Reagan. I'll call that a
half chance, but it is something a little bit of
threat from Dallas already.
Speaker 3 (45:55):
Yep. Dallas come into this game the third least kilometers
run in MLS, so it kind of falls back into
their rhythm of what they've done in years past.
Speaker 26 (46:06):
Absorb some pressure, remember that back in twenty twenty three.
Speaker 3 (46:09):
I think when the sound has played in the MLS playoffs,
they absorb pressure, absorb pressure and then they broke quickly
in the attack and they're trying to feed that verticality
again listening to some of the interviews with the general manager,
that's the reason why they wanted Leo Chew. Can they
get up and down the field a bit more speed?
Anderson Julio of course helps you with that. Patriques and
(46:30):
del Garde on the left hand side helps with that.
And then you've got the maestro in the middle in
a Costa brought in for five million dollars, as we mentioned,
to try and make everything tick.
Speaker 6 (46:40):
You can get the two Ecuadorians with pace on the wings.
They've got Musa who's creating as well as scoring, can
hold the ball up. But of course, like you said,
that little maestro in Acosta who's able to play those
balls in behind.
Speaker 3 (46:51):
There's Musa three assistem his year and knocks it over
the top, but cooked clear by the Sounders and New
good clearance by New just causes some problems on the clearance.
But it's going to be Downash to pick it up.
A good pocket picked boy rolled on and then Dowas
win it again. It's been back and forth so far
in these early minutes of the game. As Ferrera comes back,
(47:11):
clash your bodage, referee just gets to the middle of it.
Speaker 26 (47:13):
It's no need for a yellow card, but he's going.
Speaker 3 (47:15):
To get one, and we'll see it looks like it's
gonna be on cake.
Speaker 26 (47:20):
He's counting in his fingers one, two, three.
Speaker 3 (47:23):
Farra standing above him, stays on the ground saying the
referee does here callen, But it looks like it's a
foul on the Sounders and it's gonna be a new
yellow card, which is not what Kike the debutante wants
in the middle of the park early in this game.
Speaker 6 (47:37):
I mean, it confuses me a little bit We're seven
minutes in, he's talking one, two, three. I'm not even
sure we had three thousand in the game thus far,
So I'm confused about the yellow card. Obviously it goes
in the favor of Seattle Sounders, but you know, it
looks like just an unlucky play. Heyzus stepped in at
a good time and it was I'm a little unfortunate.
So it's a heartfelt I think for me, but you know,
(47:57):
we'll take it.
Speaker 3 (47:58):
Yeah, just looking at the replay there, for I came
in just knit the ball off the foot of Kaiker's
a little late, more clumsy than anything. I'm not sure
it deserved a yellow card.
Speaker 26 (48:06):
But again, it's the referee setting the standard.
Speaker 3 (48:09):
Now, if he's gonna give a yellow card for that, Kellen,
it's gonna have to be consistent, which is going back
to what we always talk.
Speaker 26 (48:14):
About, which is consistency with referees.
Speaker 3 (48:17):
However you're gonna call the game, just be consistent.
Speaker 6 (48:19):
It's so tough because, like I said, we're seven minutes
in here, going on the eighth minute, and you're already
giving a yellow card for something that was, like you said,
clumsy rather than an actual you know, vicious foul, and
so I'm wondering what consistency. Of course, I think I'm
hoping that he then learns his lesson and keeps the
yellow cards on his bat.
Speaker 3 (48:36):
Ball goes along, challenged by Yam up ball bound to
the middle is new who somehow found himself in the
middle of the park from a long clearance. Not sure
again positionally that's why Brian Schmittzer want him, but he
picks it up. Sounders have it this near side the
left with Paul Rothrock, who started to find his feet.
It's bit of a stop start season for him, and
he's getting some starts now that left un side.
Speaker 26 (48:55):
The ball goes down with rolled on, clipped off.
Speaker 3 (48:59):
Stat more quickly into that man down the six yard box,
and he was Denny Mussovski flying in trying to get
in the end of it, couldn't quite make connection. And
here come Dallas in transition with Norris down the left
hid side. Good defend him by Koloney. Athletic kid. Of course,
we know Brian Schmitzer appreciates the athleticism on that right
hand side, and good tracking back by the young men
(49:21):
that we talked about.
Speaker 6 (49:22):
The athleticism and Ali's Goldan has been kind of holding
down that right back spot, but a guy like Kilani
is willing to take and do the work that Alex
had done as well. But going back to that last chance,
it's again a bit about half chance, but you'd love
to see that the Sounders on the front foot there
rolled on. The ball goes out of bounce. He quickly
picks it up and throws it in to Paul Rothrock
who finds a ball in.
Speaker 3 (49:42):
Dannisovski Christian ruled on middle of the park playing alongside
over Vargas.
Speaker 22 (49:47):
Again.
Speaker 26 (49:48):
We know he'd stepped up Alin in the last couple
of weeks.
Speaker 3 (49:52):
But that's like last week Gat san Diego dropping back
next to Obed. Those two made a really good partnership,
and of course with the surging form of Danny Laver,
it's allowed Josh Atensio to go find pastures new just
before the start of the season as he moved to
Colorado in a million and a half dollar deal. As
(50:12):
a Costa rolls it between the legs and just kind
of throws down, but it's thrown down by New no
foul give him by the referee. It comes New down
the left hand side twenty five yards from the end line. Sure, Mantha,
referees pulling it back? Can you make rhyme a reason?
But what that is? I don't think he went out
of bounce. Was he offside?
Speaker 6 (50:31):
I'm you know, I'm literally stratching my head. I'm not
sure if there was an off the ball thing or
what a play here? As we see the replay from
a cost he's obviously just toying around a little bit
and having some fun. But I'm not sure what's going on.
Speaker 3 (50:46):
Eleventh minute Neil nil Sounders Dallas down in Frisco. Nice
warm evening. There's a cost that gets it on the
half turn, that tries to roll in, move so quickly
at top of the box, challenged by Yama Good defending
by the Sounders center back steps forward again, wins the
ball solid as you like back there as the ball
goes down to Missoski as he clatters into Ibiaga, more
(51:07):
of a clash of bodies than any type of foul.
Actually it was er er Gidi, the new signing from
the Netherlands three point one million dollar transfer, playing alongside
MLS vett Ibiaga.
Speaker 6 (51:20):
Once again a Costa finding the ball having some little
bit too much space in my liking and just threading
a great Paul Hindo Musa who just couldn't get it
under his feet. But it's another threatening.
Speaker 3 (51:30):
Pass from a Costa in the Dallas there's Danny Mussoski
came off the bench. It's Sando's a tough ball by
Danny Missovski was right in front of him. He tried
to roll it back I think all the way back
to Jackson Riega, North Seph and Fry. But a few
little questions been asked between the two Sounders players. As
the ball does recochet around, Sounders pick it up middle
(51:50):
of the on the far side the right with Kohlan.
He just wriggles free of Kaike, who's on that yellow
card as a cost of challenges Jack Reagan, good cal'm
play by Jackson Reagan. Fans Mussovski just across the halfway
line this near side the Sounders left finds a ball
into Rothrock just to thread the needle between goalkeeper and
(52:10):
back line. Good play by pass read the danger stepped
out of his six yard box picked it up, but
it was Rothrock trying to find that run of Jesus
Frere early from that left hand side.
Speaker 26 (52:19):
Sounders now backing up defending.
Speaker 3 (52:23):
At the top of their box, which last week Kellen
San Diego played with fire playing out of the back.
It didn't really cost them where The Sounders have certainly
done their homework this week and started to put a
bit more Hyghe pressed, looking to try and force the
game and win the ball further out the field.
Speaker 6 (52:37):
What's also a different team in San Diego's. Tan Diego
is just a quality on the ball and they wanted
to play out. I think their two sixers were really
big in that in that game.
Speaker 25 (52:45):
Well, Dallas doesn't.
Speaker 3 (52:46):
Have that ball down the right hand side Sounders happened
with Kolaney just cuts it across and it just whisks
past that far post. It was a trickling type of
cross shot. Mussovsky couldn't quite get there. It goes over
the end line. It's gonna be a Dallas goal kick
here in the thirteenth minute. Nil nil.
Speaker 26 (53:04):
But the Sounders in transition is starting to find some gaps.
Speaker 6 (53:08):
Well, it's almost a replay of what that Charlotte gold
Perrera and Kilane and look, Kilanie is gonna do the work.
We talked about his athletic kid he's willing to do
the work and he saw him streaking down again. Ferrera
on the ball. Who can play those balls in between
and behind lines? Now it's just that final bit of quality.
Can he play that ball in massofsky? Can you find
a harder run in the box?
Speaker 3 (53:27):
Sounded some high press inside the e gen yard box
or goes into Norris. Good step by Kilaney. It's a
slip by del Gado, I think on the far side. Sounders,
do you pick it up? This on the foot of
Kolan he goes back to Yama has been solid as
Iraq as well. Sounders defense have been very good this year,
but it's been individual errors at times that have cost
(53:49):
the Sounders. They're the and it comes della Vega. Can
the Sounders find some threat in the attacking third towards
the end? Ninety goes goal kick given it was Norris
whos slip to the ground he asked for the gold
kick came off the shins of de la Vega. Gonna
be a goal kick. But Sounders are starting to edge
into that attacking third more Kellen and finding some.
Speaker 26 (54:10):
Pockets of space and finding some threat.
Speaker 6 (54:12):
Well, it's also coming outside the wing side right, it's
coming out the left side with Paul Rothrock kind of
finding away and getting those crosses in early. You have
Kilania and d la Vega streaking down this right side.
I like the fact that they're using therewith and using
their strength.
Speaker 3 (54:24):
Hazus Ferrara pushing in deep as he tries to put pressure.
Sounders do a good job win the ball inside. They're
attacking half for the field. Rothrock throws it in right
front of Brian Schmidt, so on his feet, suited and
booted as ever, looking sharp, looking for that vital three
points today. Can the sound Des started to pull themselves
off the bottom end of the table. It comes Vargas
(54:45):
to Ferrera, all clipped in, say some referee flag on
the far side went up and Prere just inched off
side looking for that ball as Sounders are trying to
build into some possession fifty five percent possessions so far
for this As branisch Metz has mentioned over years past,
that fifty five percent is the level they want to
(55:07):
see this team at in terms of managing possession, managing
the game. Fifty seven percent on average this season, so
the Sounders are sitting just in third spot in MLS
in terms of possession of the ball, and it's Dallas
who are sitting third from bottom in possession of the
ball at forty five percent, So right now it's sitting
exactly how the statistics across the season have been standing
(55:30):
coming into this game.
Speaker 6 (55:32):
Well, you talk about possession, and possession is great, but
there's always got to be something for it, right as
possession with purpose in my opinion, and so can the
Sounders have that possession? Of course, fifty five is great
where you're on the ball, you're not running as much usually,
can you find a way to make it dangerous and
not just keeping the ball on the back Because Dallas
at the moment is very happy and you can see
they're very happy through their season to where they're sitting
in the standards as well.
Speaker 3 (55:52):
Yeah, LAFC of course have done it over years so
successfully where they absorb pressure. Steve Trundle, it doesn't mind
LAFC not having the ball because there's such a threat
going forward and they've obviously proved that consistently over the
last handful of years. Sounders have it. Get here in
the sixteenth minute Neil Neil Frisco, Texas Sounders, Dallas, Dallas
(56:17):
havebit far side the left with Norris and then Ramiro.
Seven starts so far in the season for the Brazilian.
Two Brazilians starting in the middle of the park for Dallas.
The other Brazilian, of course, one we know so well,
Leo Chu, is sitting on the bench. He's been a
starter this season, so show's a little bit disappointment for
Leo not getting to start against his old team. Lots
(56:39):
a build up around his game against his old team
from Leo Chu and of course has his fro again.
The same type of attention, but it comes the sound
as Dela Vega, Dela Vega who his lifting off the
post and a rebound by Massosky back of the goalie
goes fantastic pomp shot from Petro de la Vega from
all of twenty five thirty yards came in off his
(57:02):
left foot, curled it to the far post, ricocheted off
the posts right place, right time. Danny Mussovsky knocks it
into an empty goal and they put the Sounders up
one goal to nil.
Speaker 6 (57:15):
As you look at this, Dala vegot he was thinking, okay,
do I play? Do I play? And when everyone he
wins that on his left foot everyone's going, ah, you
know he a little far out, but man does he
rip this off the post? And Danny Massovski first one too,
and I will say Ovid Vargas is there as well.
You see two Sounders off the post, first reaction. That's
what you want for the Seattle Sanders team who's not
going through a great stretch, and they're the ones that
are on the front foot. And then Danny Massovski finding
(57:37):
a way to find the back of the net. Doesn't
care how it goes in. If it goes in, it's great.
And these goals hopefully will come in streams.
Speaker 3 (57:44):
First goal in MLS for Danny Missovski this year was
a stop start season for him in his first season
with the Sounders in twenty twenty four, but gets a
start tonight. Now is rewardings Bruin, Schmittze and the coaching
staff with a goal. It doesn't matter how it comes,
whether it's a pile driver or.
Speaker 26 (58:04):
A knock into an empty net, they all count the same.
Speaker 3 (58:07):
If Danny Massovski gets the Sounders on the board, it's
been what they've deserved. Sounders have it left corner of
the box. Now can they find a quick fire second
with Paul Rothrock top of the boxes open, tries to
curl the ball just right inches wide of the posts.
He opened his body up with his right foot just
left of center and try to angle it into the
far corner, and it was a whisker away. It's gonna
(58:30):
be a goalkick for Dallas. Sounders lead one nil, but
Kell and Rowe another chance for Oben Vargas from distance.
Speaker 6 (58:35):
You could see the lift of Spirits already. Just a
minute after that first goal, you see Paul Rothbrock finding
a way to go down goal hazus for making darting
runs and obviously the confidence of Ovid Vargas from about
again about twenty twenty five yards out to open his
body up and whip it and just had you know
almost nick that post.
Speaker 3 (58:54):
Sound As high press Dallas trying to build out the back. Referee,
he's gonna pull it back. See what the is.
Speaker 26 (59:05):
His protest from the Dallas midfield.
Speaker 3 (59:09):
If them they're saying that the ball didn't go out
the six yard books, we'll see what the call is.
Is gonna be a reset by pass in the goal.
And that is the first goal.
Speaker 26 (59:18):
The Dallas have conceded this year from outside.
Speaker 3 (59:21):
The box, so sometimes it wasn't quite outside the box,
came off the post. Obviously Danaimisovski was eight yards away,
but it was the ability to hit the shot from
distance from Pedro de la Vega. So two guys coming
to the Sonety line up Kellen have made an immediate
impact in the first twenty minutes.
Speaker 6 (59:38):
Well, my favorite thing is that Petroo Vega is the
one kind of creating because every time he's gotten the
ball this game and I know we're only twenty minutes
in here, he's been effective.
Speaker 25 (59:46):
He's been attacking, he's been going down that wing.
Speaker 6 (59:48):
It's almost like he knows that he's gonna, you know,
have a time limit here, and he's making the most
of it. But for me, it was Dani Missovski being
the first one to react. He's not having the.
Speaker 3 (59:56):
Most He's Julio towards the end line, quick responds by Dallas,
comes off the heels of Jackson Reagan over the end line,
corner kick for Dallas. So for Dallas, can they find
themselves back in the game. We know, Kellen, the first
five minutes after you score a goal always so vital
for both teams, but for the Sounders. Now they're gonna
have to defend this corner kick.
Speaker 6 (01:00:16):
We talked about the first five minutes, in the last
five minutes of each hap, but also after you score it,
and something the Sounders have not done well has actually
locked that down. So as they go into this corner
and make sure it's a little things, where's your guy?
Can you get a hand on them? Can you make
sure that you're in front of the person before they
actually get a hand for help.
Speaker 3 (01:00:30):
Sounders need to defend this corner kick with a cost
or on this near side outswinger with this right foot.
It goes in headed up by Moosa, goes over the
end Line's going to be a goalkick for Sounders and
for Stephen Fry. But your Moosa has been a real
revelation for Dallas coming in last year. It's been a
(01:00:52):
hot start from the number nine for Dallas. Three goals,
three assists on his campaign so far.
Speaker 25 (01:00:58):
We talk about the differences between the two forwards.
Speaker 6 (01:01:01):
Right now, you have Damasowski coming in not scoring many
goals and having a hard time and finding his back
at the back of the net today and you have
a Musso who's just a fire start to his season.
Speaker 3 (01:01:11):
Sound is looking very comfortable with possession. The attacking third
of the field is Arrera, who just rips the ball
to the post. Great bull headed down by Kilaney assistant referees.
Flag goes up very close, so it looked like from
erring he made their run perfectly. It is great ball
by Hazes Ferrera middle of the park, just loops it
over the far side defender and Norris, but it is
(01:01:32):
an off side Dallas have it the foot of Pas
inside his eighteen yard books. But Sound does look comfortent Keill.
It's been much different starts to this game than it
was last.
Speaker 6 (01:01:40):
Week it was and you know, I'm actually gonna put
a lot of pressure out on Hazes Ferrari here because
I like the way he's playing. I like that this
is the perfect position for him. I know he brought
him in almost as a nine winger, but when he
drops in and finds the ball and has time and space,
his ability to make some very good passing, especially behind
the back line like we just saw, it's where he's thriving.
Speaker 3 (01:02:01):
Hews Ferrara spoke to the media this week, talks a
lot about his ability is to run in behind that
teammates need to figure out his game as he does
everybody else, and it's not too it's not fitting the
pressure too much in terms of his lack of goal
scoring capacity. Right now, he's got a number of assists
(01:02:23):
on his campaign, three assists but no goal so far
for the man who really had a storming career with Dallas.
But here comes del Gado, ricocheted shot off that man
for Ara coming back to help defensively, good defending by
Rothrock towards the end line, and there's the referee's flag
goes up and there's a confusion. It's like he's potentially
(01:02:47):
a offside deep and the sound is half the field,
just a yard or so from the end line. Referee
so far, Callen, I'm an inconsistent. I would say a
little confusion in his cause. But for this one, the
sounds will take it.
Speaker 6 (01:03:04):
I like again, sketching my head. I'm not quite sure
what's what happened there. I thought it was a block
shot and everything was okay, But you know, we'll take
this one. The yellow card was a little weird. I
thought the goalkicks can kind of be played as a
normal now, but everything at the moment, it's going towards
the sounds.
Speaker 3 (01:03:22):
Fab de la Vega office chest well just absorbs pressure
by Norris. When's the free kick right in the middle
of the field from the center spot Well. Tonight's match
is presented by the Western Washington Toyota Dealers. Get here
in the twenty fourth minute Dallas nil sound has worn
off the back of a goal from Danny Mussovski rebounded
(01:03:45):
from a ricochet shot off the post by Della Vega,
and this score up is presented by Toyota as Rothrock
has that it's near side the left, good step by More.
It's gonna be a sounder's throw just a couple of
yards away from Brian Schmitzer in his bench, which I
think Brian's gonna be happy with the response of his team.
It was a disappointed locker room at the end of
(01:04:07):
that San Diego game, for sure. Some fireworks hair dryer
treatment from Brian Schmittz. By all accounts, it's kind of
laid laid down the law somewhat for his players. He
can do that. Sometimes he tries to be calm consistent
with his messaging, but sometimes with the type of players
you've got in this locker room as well, sometimes I
(01:04:28):
kick out the backside kell and can can do the work.
And it seems that the Sounders players have reacted.
Speaker 6 (01:04:32):
Well they have. And look, I've been in the locker
room when Brian Smester gets a little bit of his
angry dad's side and he's you know, things are flying around,
things are getting kicked, and you know you're listening to
the words and not so much the vocal of the
words and how high pitched they are.
Speaker 3 (01:04:47):
But oh no, see yellow card from Masoski, just a
silly yellow car and he had the ball. He was
a free kick that was conceded by Yemar deep in
the Dallas half of the field, and Massovski just goes
ahead and kicks it away. And that's just one of
those things that will cause Brian Schmittzer to pull his
hair out.
Speaker 6 (01:05:04):
Well, it's one of those that you know, the rap
is given an early yellow card. You know he's willing
to give it to again to kind of even it out.
You've gotta be smart about it. I know that there's
a foul. Yamar takes the foul, but damis House. You
know that there's gonna happen. Just just be smart. This
is a rap that wants to give cards at the moment,
so just be smart.
Speaker 3 (01:05:21):
Fifty to fifty possessions so far, so Dallas have rebounded
after that goal from the sound as sounds. Now we'll
see what type of game they're play as we get
here in the final twenty minutes of this first half.
Just sticking at the twenty five minute mark, Sounds leading
one goal to nil. He is his concentration playing away
from home. Look warmer than it has been in the
(01:05:42):
Pacific Northwest down in Texas, but certainly nothing like the
sound as a face when they've traveled here in the
summer it can be. I feel like a sauna and
a steam room all put together. But tonight it's gonna
be good on those muscles. Warm up's Kellen, I'm not
as important you're playing these types of weather versus when
it's pouring down with raid and freezing cold.
Speaker 6 (01:06:03):
I'm sweating just watching this, and you kidding me. I look,
when you go to Texas Orlando, many of those four
teams in the summertime, which I've done too many times now,
it's hard to breed out to the warm up and
you're just kind of fighting through everything and you're trying
to find your second third fourth win just in the
first half, you know, flew yourself down after.
Speaker 3 (01:06:20):
That Sounds goal kick. Stephan Fry has been a spectator
most of this game. Is Reagan takes that goal kick
and miscontrolled by new who is now looking at Jackson
blaming him, but he really knew Who's an ability to
control the ball. Gave the ball back to Dallas from
to a thrown Now Scheck Moore has his foot right
hand side on this near side. Is Julio is going
(01:06:42):
to strike it. It's more like a football field goal.
It's get flies over the crossbar. It's going to be
a goalkick for the Sounders, and when you're playing away
from home, you'll take that all day long, just to
calm things down. And then the Sounders Kellen Hath caught
themselves out a few times over the course of last
year and this year from building out the back too much.
(01:07:04):
And we've seen Fry, you know, pick and choose those moments,
when to go along and when to go short. And
it feels like it Sounds have got a good balance
now of when to build and when to put the
foot behind the ball and clear their lines.
Speaker 25 (01:07:14):
There's always going to be a few mistakes. And my
biggest thing for me is when you.
Speaker 6 (01:07:16):
Want to try to play at the back, you've got
to make sure that someone's going to lose the ball.
It just happens. It's a game of soccer, right If
you do lose the ball, who's going to be the
ones to recover? Everyone just needs to not tryang go
win the ball every time, but just come back, get
in front of the ball or get behind the ball,
make sure there's a solid defense there because it's going
to happen. Can you make it happen in the easier
times well?
Speaker 3 (01:07:36):
Sound as FC Soccer is presented by Provident, Swedish official
healthcare partner of Sounders FCS. Get here. In the twenty
eighth minute, sound is leading one nil of the back
of a Mausovsky goal. Ball goes to the foot of
a cost a little bit too easily find in the
pocket with some space. Sounds just switched off for a moment,
and there's one play you need to keep your eye on.
Good feed by Rothrob, good speed by Della Vega, gets crushed.
(01:08:00):
That's gonna be a yellow car by Norris. It felt
like it was a tag team tackle from the combination
of Norris and who a gee day the centiment came across.
Norris gets the yellow card. But good power and pace
by Dela Vega. Look in the replay can look like
as a reasonably clean tackle. More the momentum of Dela
(01:08:23):
Vega went down sold it. Referee gives a yellow card.
Speaker 6 (01:08:28):
I thought Norris did a really good job there. He
actually put in a very good tackle on Dela Vega.
And I think he got a lot of ball there
in Dela Vega obviously, you know, taking his momentum over
his leg. But he could have called the first one.
I rather him called the first one on on Paul Rothrock.
But look, it was easy ball from the Sounders to
get give space time to Acosta. Well played by Paul
(01:08:50):
Rothrock to get out some space, make a good ball
in and payd Dela Vega kind of paying for this
hard tackle.
Speaker 3 (01:08:56):
Full slate of games in MLS today. A couple of
games just to make note off of a Western Conference fans.
Vancouver continue their incredibly strong start to the season. They're
winning four nil at home at the seventieth minute against
Austin and then Salt Lake winning on the road against Nashville,
(01:09:17):
who the Sounders will play back at home next week
at Lumenfield. They've had three straight games on the road
of the Sounders. It's not been an easy group of
road trips in terms of results, a good come from
behind draw against San Jose and then a three toner
lost last week against San Diego. But if the Sounders
(01:09:37):
can rustle up a result here leading one nil, we'll
go back home and they'll feel much better about themselves
that they start to find some form. And there's a
question we asked Brian Schmetz today in that production meeting
was offensively, the stats are there the second in cornet kicks,
first in shots in MLS, but only nineteenth goals. So
(01:10:01):
it's just a factor of those things clicking and the
attacking third. But in terms of build out over sixteen
shots per game, you know the threats there. It's just
a factor of the final touch.
Speaker 6 (01:10:10):
It's the final touch and the quality of that final type.
May we talk about the possession with purpose? Can that
shot have purpose as well? Are we just playing it
in just to play it in every crossing just across
the ball? Can we find someone and actually pick someone
out that way it's more of a dangerous play than
just a half chance.
Speaker 3 (01:10:26):
Jordan Morris on the bench tonight. We'll see if Brian
Schmitzer will introduce him at some point into this game.
But a good couple of weeks back in Pretce, of course,
picked up an injury on the Travels and CCCS Jackson
Wagan goes down rather abruptly. It was a foul on
chat Moore. We're hoping it's something there's a kick to
(01:10:47):
the ankle, more so than any type of muscular injury.
Speaker 26 (01:10:49):
The Sounds have had their third dose of muscle injuries.
Speaker 3 (01:10:52):
I think it was an inadvertent collision between More and Reagan,
who's seen the replay here, just stood on his left
ankle inadvertently, so hopefully more of a knock at a twist.
Speaker 6 (01:11:05):
Yeah, it looked just a little clumsy and it's one
of those that it's gonna hurt, and every time you
passed the ball at that foot, it's you're gonna feel it.
But we've done it too many times now as professionals,
like you've done it as a youth kid, as a
college kid.
Speaker 25 (01:11:15):
Now Jackson has a professional He's going to play through that.
Speaker 3 (01:11:20):
It's gonna be a throne for Jack Moore. Twelve yards
or so from the end line in the corner flag
on this near side the right. Sounds attacking the goal
to our left and their Saley Sea kit introduced this
year to much acclaim. Jack Moore has it downsand all
white attacking the goal to our right. Here's Musa tries
to flick it around the corner. Ball ricochets around. Sounds
(01:11:41):
need to take care of it. Eventually they do. Is
Fry came out pause Momentarily Yemar took no chances. Put
the ball clear over the far sideline. It's gonna be
a Dallas throw in the hands of Norris on that
left hand side. Third year for Nolan Norris getting the
start on the left back spot. I mean eight games
played with six starts, so twenty twenty three and twenty
(01:12:04):
twenty four didn't see much time, but getting more time
now with new coaching staff Eric Quill coming in. As
we mentioned, a whole overhaul of players and directive and coaches.
Dallas have really turned things around in terms of engagement
with the fan base selling out every single game of
(01:12:26):
the last couple of years.
Speaker 26 (01:12:27):
So the club itself is really turning.
Speaker 3 (01:12:30):
Things around off the field. It's the factor. Now can
they find some form on the field. They've had a
good start to MLS. I'm trying to understand now what
that foul is. Kilaney received the ball, got pressure, seemed
to shrug off a Costs who went down to the ground,
rolled it out. We'll see a replay here, Kellen, once
we get it.
Speaker 6 (01:12:49):
I got to enjoy this piece. The game has changed
a little bit since even when I started playing it.
When you played, your hands are there to protect, but
also you know, shield a body if a player gets
hit with your hand because they run into your hand.
I don't believe that is a foul and I'm not
a huge fan of this, but you know, the game
has obviously changed and you got to you gotta be
careful where you're flairing your hands.
Speaker 25 (01:13:11):
But unlucky for Colonie in my opinion, Yeah, it.
Speaker 3 (01:13:14):
Was a good play by Colonie, stepped in well, won
the ball seemed very clean. Fortunately for the Sounders it
was a free kick and they give it away with
dela Vega who chases the ball down looking sharp. We again,
we'll see what de la Vega has in terms of
minutes allowed by the coaching staff and the medical stepper.
Here's Julio chose to not the ball down the line
cleaned up well by Jackson Wig and tracks moose so
well and hit. Sounders now build at the top of
(01:13:35):
their eighteen yard box with roll don in Yama one
touch ball out to the far side to Colonie. Can
he save it? He can? He slips over, recovers, jumps
to his feet, retains the ball. Sounders have possession inside
their eighteen yard box. And as Yemar's experience doesn't take
any chances, you've got a target player and masoftski up
the field, launches it long headed out of bounds by
Dallas on the far side, and it's going to allow
(01:13:56):
the Sounders to step up. So throwing quickly played in
by rolled On and now they're going to maintain possession.
Heym my good switch to the ball from his right
side to the near side the left with Rothrock across
the half way line, just drops the left shoulder, comes
inside lwds the ball square loose on the pass. Not
what Brian Schmitz will like. It's gonna allow now Dallas
(01:14:17):
to break on the counter. Julio plays it far side
the right outside the left to a Costa cuts the ball.
Good pressure by rolled On. Dallas have it towards the
end line, will step over towards the end line. Is
Julio won well by the Sounders as rolled On clips
it down the line as Dela Vega's gonna hold the
ball up, but challenged by Norris, wins the ball. There's
(01:14:39):
Julio again. Now turns, brings it inside to Kayak, drops
the ball to Ramiro out to the far side the
left with Julio and again the sounds say that all
day long. Hooks it tries to find the far right corner,
but finds the right corner of the stand. It's gonna
(01:14:59):
be a kick remains Dallas nil Sounders one thirty fifth minute.
Kellen R.
Speaker 6 (01:15:06):
I think Paul Rothbrock did there, did all the hard stuff,
dropped his shoulder, created a lot of space for himself,
and then you know, kind of took his eye off
the pall there.
Speaker 25 (01:15:13):
And gave an easy one away.
Speaker 6 (01:15:14):
But it allowed Dallas to kind of get some momentum,
get forward and almost catch on a half break. I
would say, Seattle Sounders, but you know, winning the ball
back and allowing someone to shoot. From twenty five to
thirty yards out with no real pressure. I'm okay with it,
especially in the past two times that Julie is trying
to take that shot.
Speaker 3 (01:15:31):
Thirty fifth minute, ten minutes ago of this first half,
we'll see all the referee adds on sound is leading
one nil back of a Mussofsky goal rebounded shot from
a Della Vega twenty five yard pop shot that came
off the post. Fargus gets almost gets his pocket picked
a new takes no chances. It hooks it down the lines,
(01:15:51):
good place for Rothrock to go again of Chatmore goes
down much too easily does the Dallas roy back of
a collision with roth Rock wins the foul. This goes
back to a referee and maybe not knowing the game
as well that.
Speaker 26 (01:16:07):
Players are going to look for. It is that Dela
Vega rolls it in.
Speaker 3 (01:16:11):
Good cut out by ib Argue, with Dela Vega trying
to thread the needle, with Ferrera Mussovski making a running
behind picked up by Dallas the far side, they're left
with Norris.
Speaker 6 (01:16:21):
We talk about players having a little bit of that
game sense, game awareness, you know, we want to see it.
Obviously it's a little bit different. We want to see
it from the referees with.
Speaker 25 (01:16:28):
The coaches as well.
Speaker 3 (01:16:29):
Farira far side the right is able to wriggle free
of pressure, then gives it away that Sounders retrieve possession
with de la Vega. Dallas played out good quick ball
by Kilany finds rolled on to Vargas, back to Dela Vega.
No foult given by the referee on Kilane, vantage given
and then it gets shrugged off the borders Vargas from
(01:16:50):
Nolan Norris musa number nine deep in his own half
of the field trying to find the game has been
quiet in this first half. This ball goes out off
a Sounders shin of Vargas, gonna be a thrown on
the farst side to Dallas.
Speaker 6 (01:17:05):
It's a positive when you have your number the opposite
team's number nine in their own half as well as
their number ten in the cost. They're two playmakers trying
to find the ball in their own half. It's a
testament to Seattle Sounders and the defense that they're playing.
The fact that these players are having to go find
the game rather than the game finding that.
Speaker 3 (01:17:22):
Chat Moore plays it inside to Ramiro, quick one touch
ball into the middle of the park. To del guard
at ball bounces the Colombian Yemos steps in, wins his header,
flicks around the corner by rolled down. Here comes Klonny
farst side the right, striding over the halfway line. He
goes Dela Vega to his right. He finds Rothrock, who
can't find the space, gives up the ball. Good defending
(01:17:44):
mine Norris as he came over to support his center back.
Dallas have it middle apart with Ramiro breaks the line
to Musa rows the ball out to del Gardo. So
diminutive figure of a Costa or five foot five comes
onto his right foot just to flick it around the corner.
Good defending by the sounds. They held the line well
top of their eighteen yard but it finds Musovski finds
(01:18:07):
Rothrock gets clipped by Mussa, coming back to help his
team defensively. Sound as we'll take that, so we edge
towards the end of this first half, Sound is leading
one nill and this score update is presented by Prominent Swedish.
Speaker 6 (01:18:20):
What I love about that last defensive play is Paul
Rothrock before that made a darting run behind the back line,
and who was the one to cover for him in
the back line.
Speaker 25 (01:18:28):
Jesus Ferrera, he.
Speaker 6 (01:18:29):
Made sure to make that sixty yard run to make
if there was a cross, he was gonna be there
to defend, because like that's what you have to do.
If a guy's at a position, someone else has to
fill it.
Speaker 25 (01:18:37):
And that's great work from Hazus Ferrero.
Speaker 3 (01:18:38):
There there's Ferrera again, wins the ball, keeps possession.
Speaker 26 (01:18:42):
Balls clipped over the top, given away.
Speaker 3 (01:18:44):
Norris heads the ball down to Kayek, the Brazilian debutante
today early yellow card hasn't found himself in too much trouble.
Picks it up again down the far side there left
dragged down by Kerlanney. It's gonna be an opportunity for
Dallas to put the ball. It was a couple of
giveaways from the Sounder in the middle of the park
with Vargas and then Roldan trying to knock the ball
(01:19:06):
over the top. But now the Sounders are going to
have to defend this free kick.
Speaker 6 (01:19:12):
There's this crafty, playing smart plague. Kay knew he wasn't
going to get past Glani and he kind of just
throws himself in so Glanny has to fallom in a
dangerous spot. With the guy that could cast her over
the bar.
Speaker 3 (01:19:23):
Costa has it far side there left, just tucked in
from that far touched line, thirty yards or so from
the end line. We know the quality that Acosta has.
Twenty twenty three MVP. With Cincinnati one arm up in
the air, Sounder is defending inside their eighteen yard bocks.
Fry has been somewhat of a spectator in this first half.
(01:19:45):
Sounders have really controlled much of this game, but Dallas
are creeping back into it as they continue to knock
on the door, try to find a response before the
halftime break.
Speaker 26 (01:19:53):
Five minutes to go.
Speaker 3 (01:19:54):
Here more comes in from a Costa he was new
who goes down, immediate whistled by the referee. It feels
how that happens a lot, right. You get this hustle
and bustle inside the eighteen yard box. Kellen defender goes down,
The referee doesn't even think about it, puts the whistle
to his mouth, free kick. Sounders get a chance to
take a breath.
Speaker 6 (01:20:14):
I'd love to see the refs type kind of like
let that play out a little bit and maybe call
it back later on, especially with the var times that
we have at the moment. But for Stephen fry you
talked about, he hasn't had much to do. And these
are the big moments that keepers have. Is you maybe
get one or two saves and a half or even
sometimes in a game. Can you be the ones to
make it? And Stephen Fryar has made a career off
making sure that he makes those saves in the big moments,
(01:20:34):
and he's happy to see that one go over the wall.
Speaker 3 (01:20:36):
Yep, no shots on target so far off the dallas.
Just the one for the sounds. That was the goal
by Mussovski. There comes de la Vega, wriggles free just
right a center, look at to try and maybe you
take another shot?
Speaker 26 (01:20:48):
Got some confidence? Now is his left foot again?
Speaker 3 (01:20:50):
This how he threads it through towards the end line
and goes to Musofski. Can you pick it up? Challenge
by Ebiaga goes over the end line. It's gonna be
a corner kick for the sound is here in Frisco,
Texas five minutes ago, sound is leading one nil.
Speaker 26 (01:21:03):
Can they answer away from this corner kick?
Speaker 6 (01:21:05):
Petre de la Vega once again finding a way to
make something happen. And this is the guy that that
the Seattle Sounder fans and then teams and coaches really
wanted from a guy like Patri Delabega. He fakes a shot,
everyone's kind of watching the ball, watching the ball. He
makes a guy fall and instead of taking that shot,
he is a crafty little ball and a good run
from Masofski. Now, can Masovski find a way instead of
(01:21:25):
just putting the ball in the box and find someone
because he had two guys in the back post, if
you could just give a little bit of a chip,
I think Paul Rothrocks winning that header and that could
be a two zero.
Speaker 3 (01:21:34):
That's the benefit of having that outside player that can
come in. The demand from the coaches. Stuff I know
is to get those outside backs on the weak side
coming in. But the Sounders do have a chance. If
I'm up in the air by Ferrera Fos side the
right outswinger, this right football comes in, Bulls players bodies
down to the ground. No foul given this time by
the referee. Rolthrow just clips it back in, good cushion
(01:21:55):
ball into Massovsky brings it down hook clear by Ebiaga,
challenged by Rothrock wins it off Kayak towards the end
ninety goes. The Brazilian comes back, does a good job
and Shack Moore helps his teammate out slips to the ground.
De la Vegas picks it up. Bill ricochets around, miscontrolled
and cleared by Dallas back line as Dela Vega just
(01:22:15):
cuts by the Brazilian kayak tries to curl it just
over the top. Gonna be a goalkick for Dallas. Remains
one nil, just a few minutes to go here in
this first half. Branch Metz will be satisfied with the
team's performance and certainly their response from last week's poor
three nil loss at San Diego.
Speaker 6 (01:22:34):
And you're seeing it.
Speaker 25 (01:22:35):
The guys are responding with work.
Speaker 6 (01:22:36):
It's not just a little bit of play, a little
bit of quality, but they're working hard as well. You
see Paul Rothrock chasing the ball down in the corner,
d la Vega coming over to the other side and
chasing the ball as well and finding ways for guys
to miss.
Speaker 3 (01:22:47):
Of Coursa has it twenty five yards from the Sounders goal.
Stefan Frey just perched inside his eighteen yard box. Sounders
back line holding just a couple of yards outside the
eighteen yard box, defending Dallas who have the ball in
this nil side the right with Ramiro the Brazilian goes
to the foot of Musa, tries to clip it to
the far side to del Gado, comes out by the sounders.
(01:23:08):
Picked up now by Kayak to the foot of cost
Lord with little clip around the corner back to Moosea
given go inside the echin yarv I was picked up
top of the box by Musa. Costa has it strike
good block by new who ball ricochets out to this
near side the right with Shaq Moore comes back. Look
given go by Ramiro or fell given by the referee.
(01:23:30):
Eventually it's given. We'll see if the assistant referees flag
was the person helping out again a delayed response by
the referee.
Speaker 6 (01:23:41):
We'll look at this. I think it was Paul Rothbark
who just obstructed. It's someone in Dallas, but look it's
it's a rough one. I'm not sure what they're gonna
give here, but for me, it's watching this game the
little bit. It's a quality in the in the continuous
movement of a. Costa is incredible to watch because when
he gets the ball, his eyes are always up, he's
always looking. But once he plays the ball, he's always
(01:24:01):
taken one or two steps either side in finding it again.
And the quality from the Dallas players don't need to
know this and get the ball back to him as
fast as possible and knowing that they're gonna get a
good poll in return it. He's fun to watch.
Speaker 3 (01:24:13):
Sounders happy to defend him. Another free kick now ninety
seconds to go over the forty five. We'll see what
the referee adds on it. Into this first half, sound
is defending just outside their six yard bus line of
blue shirts, line of white shirts. Two men wall in
Kilaney and Ferrera. So Costa and Julia over the ball
(01:24:35):
and this right channel, this near side so frond Fry
crouched inside his six yard box. Julio goes over the ball,
leaves it to a. Costa plays the square top of
the box. There's Moose's strikes him straight off the practus field,
but sounds ready well blocked it. The ball comes back
to chat Moore right on the halfway lines. He clips
it down the line on the right hand side. Brera
picks it up outside the right foot.
Speaker 26 (01:24:56):
He goes hooked forward by de la Vega.
Speaker 3 (01:24:58):
Sounds in transition with just a tough bounce, but he
manages to deal with it well. Find still a vegan
right in front of the sounder's bench and rolled on
plays it square to Ferrara in the middle of the park.
It goes by, rolled on, clipped around by Vargas, finds
the foot of klanning right side, rolls it out to Rothrop,
plays it in a little week on that cross cleared easily.
Speaker 26 (01:25:19):
By Dallas, but picked up well by Yamars.
Speaker 3 (01:25:21):
He hooks clear well. Sound as FC Kids Club is
better than ever now with more membership options. Sammy's squad
offers young fans ages five through twelve, exclusive merchandise experiences
and more. Go to sound as fc dot com slash
Kids Dash Club to join the pod. That's rolled on strike,
good save by pas no pressure on rolled on where's
(01:25:45):
weaker left but good solid strike required a good save
by Pars. It goes over the end line.
Speaker 26 (01:25:51):
It's gonna be a corner kick for the Sounders.
Speaker 3 (01:25:53):
Three minutes about it time, but another chance for the
Sounders to get on the board.
Speaker 6 (01:25:59):
We'll roll down take his space obviously with his off
foot here and his left foot, but it takes great strike.
That was co on top bends and so past. What
an incredible save. But what seems to be working for
the Sounders is taking that shot from the outside. They're
not getting enough pressure of Dallas on Seattle Sounders as
they're you know, taking the ball up the field and well,
once again you see someone kind of Massofski and Rothrock
(01:26:20):
making sure they're the first ones if there is a rebound,
and I love that see that from the Sounders, it's.
Speaker 3 (01:26:24):
All, well, it's not a good site for Dallas. We
see Moosa, the big number nine, on the deck towards
the end line, not quite sure what happened there. He's
already got a cleat off and for their main man
Musa to pick up some type of knock towards the
end of this first half would not be what FC
Dallas need. And it looks like the medical staff for
telling the bench that his night could be over. He
(01:26:47):
looks in some level of distress and you'd hate to
see injuries calumd But for the Sounders, Musa was really
their main threat, certainly coming into this game. Three goals,
three assists on his year. We'll see what changes Dallas
make before this halftime.
Speaker 6 (01:27:02):
Break, especially with the way that he and a casta
can connect and that they are looking for each other,
and they're very dangerous and obviously they're very good quality.
You don't want to see any injuries, like you said,
but for the sounder's sake, this is a bit of
a left that's for sure.
Speaker 3 (01:27:17):
I think just looking at the replay there, I think
he came off the shot of rolled On. He seemed
to stand and rolled On's plant foot, rolled his ankle
it looked like, and hobbled off and now he's off
the field lying on his back. Logan Farrington has already
come on the field, so for Pedro Musa, his night
is over. Logan Farrington, the young player number twenty three,
(01:27:39):
comes on the field. First season last year was with
Dallas coming out of the MLS draft. It's going to
be a corner kick now for Ferrera with his right
foot far side the right clips it in towards the
front corner of the six yard box, headed clear by Dallas,
picked up by Kolane, given away by Kilany, but then
recovered and a good solid challenge by rolled On. Flicks
(01:28:00):
it around the corner to Ferrara, expects to run around
the corner, goes out the far side. Sounders will take
that all day long. As we get here in the
final thirty seconds of added time, we'll see what else
the referee adds on.
Speaker 6 (01:28:13):
And this is the light of final three minutes now
or two minutes, whatever you want to call it. It's
it's about locking it down. You're up one Zerreal, get
into the half upper goal and let's let's regroup in
the second half.
Speaker 3 (01:28:24):
Well, don't leave us a half time. Marcus Henneman with
Jackson Felts will be here to break it all down.
See the sounders can kind of see out the final
minutes of this first half of Jackson Regan just clips
the ball out of bounds, the ball bounce inside his
eighteen yard box. Down, So Dowlla's gonna get one more
chance here. As we passed the three minute mark of
added time, Downa's have it fast side.
Speaker 26 (01:28:44):
The left comes off. We thought came off of.
Speaker 3 (01:28:46):
Costa from Ferrara, but it's gonna be another Dallas throw.
Wherever you're headed, Discout Time wants to get you there safely.
Shot for Tires with Treadwell your personal tire guide at
discout tire dot com, where referee check says watch we'll
see if he has any significant time for the injury
to Moosa. Does Dallas have it on this near side?
(01:29:09):
Brian Schmetzer chatting with his bench. We'll see what changes
Brian makes. Does Dela Vega He's was on the docket
potentially to come off at some point in the near future.
Get the sound As players into the locker room halftime
and have a chat with some of the players who
maybe on a minute's restriction.
Speaker 26 (01:29:27):
There's been a good fresh start from the sound has
con be out of last week.
Speaker 3 (01:29:30):
And there's a referees whistle as Musa is going to
be carried off the field. Round of applause by the
fans as he goes around the field on a stretcher.
So unfortunate pickup of injury by Mooser. And there's the
Sounders player down now it looks like it's Jackson Reagan.
(01:29:52):
Is it something that he picked up just a few
minutes ago. We saw him go down where it was
a ruled ankle. The medical staffa gonna come on and
the referee is looking at his watch. We're way past
the three minute mark, and I think the referee has
any common sense, can just blow his whistle and get
the players into the locker room and let Jackson Reagan
get the attention he needs and call the end of
(01:30:13):
this first half.
Speaker 6 (01:30:14):
I agree. I don't know if he looks like he's
grabbing a little bit of a nry, I won't speculate,
but I mean when he talked about his last play
and it wasn't we talked about a rolled ankle. We
roll our ankles every time.
Speaker 25 (01:30:23):
We walk now because how much we've played.
Speaker 6 (01:30:25):
But he did get a step on it as he
rolls it, so just rolls that little bit farther and
it did. It's hard to recover from something like that,
especially when Jackson Reagan's going up against someone like a
Julio's who's trying to run by him every time. So
hopefully we can get into half and Jackson just needs
a second off and he can come back in the
second half.
Speaker 3 (01:30:43):
Yep, Sound is leading one goal to nil here in Frisco,
Texas Sports Radio nine to fifty KGr AM, where if
you listen to us, thanks for joining us for this
first half. Well, don't go away too long. Jackson and
Marcus way back to provide the analysis needed, tell you
what the Sound need to do in this second half.
Sounds have responded well in the last couple of games.
(01:31:04):
In the second half against San Jose there one nail
down after a real sloppy goal, they conceded, they came
back and it was Rouznak in the eightieth minute the
score that equal lines on a much improved performance. Last week,
there were down three nil at halftime. Game was by
all accounts over, but the Sounders managed to come out
and put a bit of bite into the second half.
(01:31:24):
Didn't concede anything else.
Speaker 26 (01:31:26):
Just looking at a replay here, maybe just.
Speaker 3 (01:31:29):
An overstretch from Jackson Reagan Kellen versus maybe something from
the previous knock.
Speaker 6 (01:31:37):
Yeah, again, we don't want to speculate, but it looks
as if, yeah, that was a bit of an overstretch.
And look, Jackson Raids is a tough guy, so hopefully
he can find a way and it's a simple just
a little tweak, a little a little feeling and he
can help me find his way back on the second half.
But for the Sounder is now going to be down
a man for I don't know, a minute, thirty seconds,
I'm not sure how long it's gonna The ref is
(01:31:57):
going to let it go, just lock it down.
Speaker 25 (01:32:00):
Be safe and smart because your center backs out well.
Speaker 3 (01:32:03):
I think at this point the referee just needs to
blow his whistle. When a couple of players go off
with injury than the Sounders, it won't make any changes.
We'll see what happens with Jackson Reagan. There are some
options on the bench kim kihe back of course with
the Sounders squad sitting on the bench, as is Jonathan Bells,
so a couple of change options for the Sounders. Interesting
to see what they do with that central area because
(01:32:24):
sometimes it's a little easier to switch out the players
to the left and right. It's the central player that's
usually the catalyst for what happens. The ball goes long,
Yemar heads the ball and there's the referees whistle. Finally,
almost seven minutes of added time, so four minutes of
added time over the three. But it sound as we'll
walk into the locker room happy. And it was Musovsky
in the seventeenth minute, a rebound off a great shot
(01:32:47):
from Pedro de la Vega that hit the post and
it was Musovsky right place, right time. And the seventeenth
minute that put the ball in the back of the net.
Call and row your final thoughts.
Speaker 6 (01:32:56):
Look, it's a little bit of confusion and drama and
late ines in this half. The Seattle Sounders go in.
You be happy with the one zero, but find a
way to control these emotions again from out the second half.
That work rate's got to stay, the quality has to
come up a little bit better, and make sure that
the little things are right right.
Speaker 25 (01:33:13):
Can you step to the right person at the right time.
Speaker 6 (01:33:15):
Can you make sure that your defender is next to
you that you need to have in your information.
Speaker 25 (01:33:19):
And then can you find the right ball in the
box to make sure.
Speaker 6 (01:33:22):
That we can kind of defeat this team at.
Speaker 25 (01:33:24):
Two, three, four zero if you can.
Speaker 26 (01:33:26):
But in the games there to be had for sure.
Speaker 3 (01:33:27):
On Brian Schmidtz's halftime talk, today's gonna be a lot
different than it was last week. We'll take a short break,
Jackson Phelts, Marcus Hanneman, we'll be back to break it
all down at halftime here in Frisco, Texas's FC Dallas
nil Sounders one.

(01:36:05):
Now time for the Sounders FC halftime show.
Speaker 4 (01:36:09):
Forty five minutes in the books in Frisco, Texas and
the Sounders leading one nothing. It's a seventeenth minute goal
from Danny Mazowski, the easiest goal Danny Mizoski will have
his entire life. Pedro de levea shot rebounded off the
post to Mazowski and then what we have is tapping
for the one.
Speaker 6 (01:36:27):
Nothing lead in the seventeenth minute.
Speaker 4 (01:36:29):
We welcome in in to the halftime show, Jackson Feltz,
Marcus Hanneman. I will mention that michelob Ultra is ninety
five calories and two point six grams of carbs. It's
only worth it if you enjoy it.
Speaker 3 (01:36:40):
Marcus.
Speaker 4 (01:36:40):
We have a lead right now. There was a couple
injuries there at the end of the game, a great
save by pass for Dallas, but we do hold a
lead after the first forty five.
Speaker 5 (01:36:49):
Yeah, it was a great It was a great first
half for the Sounders for sure. You know, I mean,
I think you're not really giving full credit for that goal.
I mean, Della Vega has a shot from outside, Muzowski
makes a good move to follow it in check for
a rebound, hits off the post. It's bouncing. I've seen
those missed from farther out. I was seven yards out.
(01:37:10):
I've seen them miss from two yards. So I mean
it's a great finish and a goalscorer finish, right You're
going for that opportunity to come off the goalkeeper or anything, right,
and that's when the defenders shut off right because they're
facing away from the goalkeeper. They got to turn around
forward boom straight in.
Speaker 4 (01:37:28):
Great goal to take good awareness there I stand corrected.
But let's talk about that save though, because against most
MLS goalkeepers, Christian Roldan would have made it to nothing
there in what was the forty fifth plus one minute.
I mean that save by marm pause was special and
keeps this match. If if you're Dallas right now, if
we're doing the Dallas halftime show, we're talking about that
(01:37:49):
safe keeping us in the game right now.
Speaker 5 (01:37:50):
Yeah, it was a great save, rolled in you know
from distance as well, lines up great strike and you
know there was room for it to get in, but
that was top corner. You know, he goes goes with
two hands, goes up with the top hand to deflect
it out as a great say.
Speaker 4 (01:38:07):
We saw at the end of the half Jackson Reagan
did go down with what looked like an injury.
Speaker 6 (01:38:11):
So we'll take a break.
Speaker 4 (01:38:12):
We'll come back and talk about two things, the keys
to holding the lead in the second half and then
also what Brian Schpenzer can do with Jackson Reagan perhaps
now hurt. We'll get to both of those in the
next part of the halftime show. I will also mention
that today's match is presented by the Western Washington Toyota Dealers.
More next here in a one nothing Sounder lead here

Leading one nothing at the half. A seventeenth minute goal
from Danny Missowski. As we watched the replay, well, it
was a good goal. The awareness from Missovski, you pick
it up and put it back in there. A good
goal for Danny Mazowski. Sounders up one nothing. I will
mention that this corp hearted audio cast of Major League

(01:42:03):
Jackson Reagan looked like he might have had an injury there.
Speaker 6 (01:42:06):
We don't know if it's going to be an.
Speaker 4 (01:42:08):
Official substitute, could be, but Marcus, the easy switch would
be Jonathan Bell. But is there any other reason why
it wouldn't be Jonathan Bell coming in if Jackson has
to be out?
Speaker 5 (01:42:20):
No, yeah, no, I like that.
Speaker 6 (01:42:24):
That's great fire.
Speaker 3 (01:42:25):
Let's move fight on.
Speaker 5 (01:42:27):
I agree, I don't think so right, you got to
put another center back? And I like him right, he's good, right,
I have total confidence in him. I've seen him play
a whole bunch of times and he's only getting better.
Speaker 4 (01:42:38):
Yeah, No, I think Bell would be the simplest thing.
We're hoping that Reagan's okay. He was down on the
ground for a good two three minute so we'll get
an update on that later. We'll see if he does
start the second half here in just a few minutes.
But key's to the second half. Marcus holding a one
nothing lead, chance to get the first win since what
was it March eighth against LAFC.
Speaker 6 (01:42:57):
How do we hold this thing down?
Speaker 5 (01:42:58):
Well, we were talking about the first five minus in
the game, right, and you know, we get a corner
kick two minutes in what do we do? We play
it short? Right, and literally we went back and we
had to go run back all the way to wear goal.
There was nothing more frustrating than playing a short corner
and nothing comes of it. Right, you got a great
chance to keep them under pressure, in which the Sounders
did a great job in the second half. You know,
(01:43:20):
one nill up. You know, sometimes you get in that
little defense or we're not going to go forward. They
kept going with the pressure right even away from home, right,
we had opportunities. We were kept possession high up in
the field. Excuse me, they were organized today, not letting
Dallas come out of the back easy. We were getting
a lot of winbacks, getting throw ins that where they
couldn't find a pass, ball goes out for a throw
(01:43:41):
and we regain possession again. Sounders did a great job
today of that.
Speaker 4 (01:43:44):
Well, we need to stay disciplined in the second half.
New stay disciplined and if we can get that second
goal that would be just fantastic. Leading one nothing right
now here at the half, Danny Jackson, Callan Rowe will
come back for the second half. I'll mention that Sounders

Welcome back Sounders fans, so Frisco, Texas Toyota Stadium. With
the Sounders facing FC Dallas of the Western Conference, good
solid first half of Brian Schmtz's men. They went to
the halftime locker room one goal up in this game,
off the back of a seventeenth minute strike from Danny Massovski.
Couldn't miss open goal. He was a ricochet shot off
(01:47:35):
the post from dead Pedrodela Vega, who came inside his
left foot, whipped it in, crashed off the post and
it was Danny Massossi. Took the chances all good goalscorers
need to do, took an opportunity, took a risk.
Speaker 26 (01:47:49):
And the rebound fell to his feet and he couldn't
do anything.
Speaker 3 (01:47:51):
More than knock it into the empty net and put
the Sounders up one goal to nil, So we'll see
what Brian Schmetz will do comeing out this second half.
We know that Pegado La Vegas could be on a
minute's count. Jackson Reagan went off just before halftime, picked up, well,
we look like potentially a muscular injury from a stretch
(01:48:12):
clearance And Kelen Rode, you've been at half time with
Brian Schmittzer. But based on what you saw in the
first half, what do you think the tenure of the
tenor of the messaging is from Brian Schmetzer today at halftime.
Speaker 25 (01:48:23):
I think it's about just keep going right.
Speaker 6 (01:48:25):
You have a you have a shutout coming out with
with Stephen Fry who's obviously going to try and make
it as many states as possible.
Speaker 25 (01:48:31):
He's one of those that can can sort out that backline.
Speaker 6 (01:48:33):
Can you just keep going the work rate that you
have going forward, the pressing that is working and finding
you chances in that in that final third. Can you
make sure that you just have everything cleaned up and well,
les we see that the two sabs coming out, but
can these guys step up to the to the level
of play at the moment and keep this game going well?
Speaker 3 (01:48:52):
Two subs coming off coming on the field at halftime
with kin ki He. We explect that to be a
lightful like switch for Jackson Reagan and hopefully nothing too
serious for Jackson. But kim Kihee gets his first minutes
as a Sounder again. Of course, was here twenty nineteen
for the championship game the championship season.
Speaker 26 (01:49:12):
Where the Sounders won that game at Lumen Field.
Speaker 3 (01:49:16):
So convincingly he's going to slide in light for light
switch for Jackson, and then Danny Lager coming off the
bench comes on for looks like Pedro de la Vega.
So the minutes count was on Pedro branch Betz just
making sure that is nursing him back to full health.
Gets a good solid forty five minutes, thirty minutes last week,
good solid forty five today. His shot, of course, allowed
(01:49:41):
Danny Massovski to follow up on the rebound and score
the only goal so far. Tonight, we'll get you the
lineups in just a minute. As a Sounder settle into it,
but labor on for Della Vega light for light switch
as well. We'll see how Delaveaga floats in behind Missovski.
Expect Obed and Christian to continue just stay in the
middle of the back, middle of the midfield, right in
(01:50:03):
front of that back three and Kimki he's sliding into
the central area of the field. So hick on the Sounders.
Can they find a goal? Earlier? Here comes roth Or
left corner of the box, inside the eight and closed
down by Jet Moore. Good challenge by Moore. Rothrock goes down.
Ricochet cushion ball by Koloney, two goalscor Masovski rolls it
back out to Colonie on this near side, they're right
(01:50:23):
ten yards in the end line comes in, Ricochet is
off Nolan Norris over the end line. Early corner kick
for the Sounders here as they lead one goal to
Neil Kelen Rowe Paul Rothrock, you know, a little bit predictable,
knowing that he wants to go inside.
Speaker 6 (01:50:35):
Shack More did a really good job of defending that
and then obviously the ball coming out to Kolonie. We
talked about the quality and that little bit of that
final ball. Can Coloney pick someone out there? He looked
like he just kind of whipped it in to whip
it in, but he saw Ferrera kind of darting in
that run on that backside. Can he find Farrera's head.
Can he find a dragging runner. It's a little bit
of quality. Take your time, pick your head up and
(01:50:55):
find it. It's just the next step for Colonie.
Speaker 3 (01:50:57):
It's gonna be a corner kick for the Sounders. Danny
Leaver's going to take it on this near side the
right aunswringer of his right foot goes to the far side,
headed down by kim Key. He his first touch as
a sound Obed kicked by Yamar from eighteen yards out.
Force pass to have to make the save.
Speaker 6 (01:51:14):
He has more of a clearance than an actual attempt
on goal. But it was well done by Yamart. It's
just to be athletic enough to get his hit leg
up there.
Speaker 3 (01:51:21):
Incredible athleticism by Yamas. Leving know the solid start to
his campaign. Of course, he and Jackson have been right
up there for MLS Defriender of the Year nominations in
the last couple of years. Sounders win it middle of
the park.
Speaker 26 (01:51:35):
We've rolled on to Obed Vargas to be great to hit.
Speaker 3 (01:51:39):
Obed getting a bit more involved in the offensive part
of the field. Rolled On talked a lot about his
role in this season, coming in maybe sitting a little
bit deeper allowed Obed to kind of open up his game.
We know he can got the athleticism to move forward,
but now it's doubts left corner box and Farringtons. He
clips it in, but goold you offend him by Kim
Key solid play and then good experience to knock the
(01:52:03):
ball down the line, just clear as his lines as
Dallas was squeezing in trying to win it off the
Sounder's back line.
Speaker 26 (01:52:09):
It's gonna be Ebaga building.
Speaker 3 (01:52:11):
With no pressure for the back as the sound is
just inside the Dallas half of the field as they build.
Speaker 6 (01:52:16):
Like I think was well done by Keyhi there to
kind of make sure he was good one one defending.
But he was a little bit out of position there
and you can kind of see him. He was over
on the other side, so he had both center backs
on one side of the half. If you cut it down,
it's a little bit too far from men can Stephen
Fry is well done defensively, like can he make sure
that those little things to go the right way?
Speaker 3 (01:52:35):
His pass clear as the lines was a brilliant saved
by pass in that first half off a driving shot
by Christian Roldan so it's gonna be free Kate front offside.
Let's get you the lineup for the Sounds coming on
the second half stepan feign goal, the back three of
Yeah Mark Kinky Hee coming in for Jackson Reagan's we
hear from a report that it's say pulled hamstring for
(01:52:55):
Jackson O Reagan movie on that left hand side, a
midfield four of Lani Coas Riends he rolled on Vargas Rothrock,
Pezus Ferrera, Danny Lever coming on for Petro de la Vega,
and then.
Speaker 26 (01:53:06):
Danny Massovski goalscorer up front.
Speaker 3 (01:53:09):
Sounders Habits a yard or two off the end line,
left side with Rothrock Sounders in their Sally Sea Kid
attacking the goal to our right. Ball swung in by Nuh,
headed clear by Ibiaga, picked up on this near side
by Kilany's's gonna defend him by del Gard. It winds
the ball doesn't go out of bounds. Foot of Ramiro,
Brazilian player playing in the middle of the park alongside
(01:53:31):
Okaykho gets his first start in at Dalla's shirt to
I had two Brazilians alongside each other sitting in front
of the back floor as Saski comes back and just
rolls it all the way back to Stephan Fry. There's
the boy. It was Julio coming in. It just went
under his foot.
Speaker 6 (01:53:49):
Crazy, what a goal can do. You see Massovski working
hard again. Obviously the ball comes out and it's not
a great ball is in the midfield and he runs
thirty forty yards to find a way to make sure.
Speaker 25 (01:53:59):
To cut that pass off.
Speaker 6 (01:54:00):
It's the little things that happen, a little bit of
confidence that gives this guy a willingness to run a
little bit more and I love.
Speaker 3 (01:54:06):
To see it. Let's get you the Dallas lineup passing
goal a back four more Erugide Ibiaga and Norris Kayak
and Rimira in the middle of the park, Anderson, Julio
del Gado and Acosta the attacking three, and then Logan
Farrington coming on up front.
Speaker 26 (01:54:24):
Pick number three in the twenty twenty four MLS draft.
Speaker 3 (01:54:26):
The former Oregon State player so roots in the Pacific Northwest.
He comes on for Moosa, their main man goal scorer,
three goals, three assists on his campaign. He had to
go off right the end of the first half through
an injury, but it come the Sounders all loosen the
ball by Labor finds top of the box with Vargas
gets pulled down. It's going to be a foul Romero
(01:54:48):
on Vargas, and that's exactly what we've been talking about.
Can Vargas get more involved in the attack and third
of the field. This time he wins a free kick
just outside the eighteen yard box and a chance for
the Sounder to try test pass again.
Speaker 6 (01:55:01):
Instead of going to the easy ball and making it
go out wide looking, he takes a player on, finds
a way to be dangerous and finds a way to
get clipped. And now he's gonna pay for that one
a little bit. But he's creating enough. He's finding way
to beat a player. And now he's got a good
free kick chance on top of the box and.
Speaker 26 (01:55:18):
We'll see who we'll have the honor of taking this
free kick.
Speaker 3 (01:55:21):
We know hazes Frere would love to be able to
step up and whip a ball over the wall and
in the back of the net for his first goal
for the Sounders against his old club. That's just remind
everybody that hazes Frera signed in the offseason, big money
signing for the Sounders alongside Paul Ariolo. Of course, unfortunately
picked up the ACL injury. Frere Ahead fifty three goals
(01:55:41):
thirty four assists in one hundred and sixty three games
for Dallas. Came through the youth ranks.
Speaker 26 (01:55:47):
There's nothing different than playing here in Dallas.
Speaker 3 (01:55:50):
But made his move to the Pacific Northwest, and now
it looks like it's gonna be him and his right
foot or new.
Speaker 6 (01:55:55):
Who in his screaming left foot as well.
Speaker 3 (01:55:57):
I mean, if News not a foil, I don't know
what's gonna happen. I don't think it's gonna kid anybody's
new Who sets up.
Speaker 26 (01:56:06):
Well, there's Farrera inside the wall.
Speaker 3 (01:56:08):
I think new Who's gonna scream that he should have
taken it, I'm sure. But Frera does knock it into
the wall and it gets cleared out. Rolled back to
Stephan Fright decked out in a pink outfit. Tonight sounders
in there sailor seek as you mentioned, dark blue shirt,
shorts of soft if I came off the arm of
(01:56:29):
a Costa. The referee eventually does call it was that
a ball kicked away by Julio. Now, if you were consistent,
and I believe Missoski got a yellow card for kicking
the ball away. He doesn't get a yellow card for that,
so again he was another silly kick away by Julio.
There's absolutely no need to do it. It's actually a
free kings in a very similar position as it was
(01:56:49):
when Masoski goes yellow card. But Kel, you explained to
the the listeners how this is consistent from the referee?
Speaker 6 (01:56:56):
Well, I would I wouldn't say it's consistent, but I'll
give the referee a little bit of a break here now.
If it was zero zero, I think he looks at
him a little bit differently. But the fact that he's
wasting his own time Julio in Dallas bean down already.
That is punishment enough. Now inconsistency, we want to see
that yellow card come out. But the fact that you
know you're hearning down one zero and you're kind of
wasting your own time here, I think the ref is
(01:57:17):
I'm hoping that he's thinking that very diplomatic again, so
fahly Rob, Yeah, thank you, all right, Well let's get
here on that.
Speaker 3 (01:57:24):
Yeah, let's get the Sadler's bench. What other options? Bran
Schmittzer has has made two moves. Of course, of kin Key,
he forced through injury from Jackson Reagan and then Pegro
de la Vega was on a minute's count. It came
off for half time. Daniel Labor came on, so Cody Baker,
Jonathan Bell, Jordan Morris, Jo Paolo Andrew Thomas, Read Baker, Whiting,
and then Georgie Munongo. He's got some firepower coming off
(01:57:45):
the bench. If they need it. We'll get switched by
rolled on. It's gonna skip through over the end line.
It's gonna be a goal kick for Dallas here in
the fifty fourth minute, Sounders leads one goal to nil.
Speaker 26 (01:57:56):
Sports Radio nine to fifty.
Speaker 3 (01:57:57):
K AM Toyota Stadium, Fritzco, Texas third away game in
the last three games for the Sounders. Can they find
three points before they come back home next week to
face Nashville of the Eastern Conference. Dallas are good at
bill ball across the halfway line to the foot of
del Gado.
Speaker 26 (01:58:18):
It's marshaled well by Oberd Vargas.
Speaker 3 (01:58:20):
Bull gets the far side, the right to Julio comes
back to Rimiro inside of Farrington tries to find the
on rushing Anderson. Julio Rosel rolls over the end line
and seth and five will take his time for his
free for his goalkick, Dallas continue to trail one goal
(01:58:43):
to nil and this score but it is presented by Toyota.
Speaker 6 (01:58:46):
It looks as if Dallas just hasn't clicked since that,
since Mussa has come off, they haven't really found their
feet again. Can the Seattle sounders make sure that that continues?
Can you find pressure on the ball whenever it has
don't let them get their head done, don't let them
take an extra touch, make sure that they are under
pressure at all times, and don't let them start clicking.
Speaker 3 (01:59:04):
Yep, no shots on goals so far for Dallas, so
Steve and Fry Quinet evening so far. But good thing
is we've got a goalkeeper with a tremendous amount of experience.
He knows that he may be called upon once or
twice in this game. Still he's gonna have to be ready.
We know that he's done that so many times throughout
his career. One hundred and seventeen clean sheets, of course,
(01:59:26):
second in all time MLS. Nick Romondo sitting sky high,
so lots of clean sheets still to gather for Stepan
and Fry to catch up with Ramondo, but sets above
Kevin Hartman and starts to kind of break away from Hartman.
Speaker 6 (01:59:44):
People thought about about that with Wayne Gretzky as well,
and look what happened now, right, He's got the time,
He's got this with the amount of good defenders he
has in front of him. Stephan Fry can play for
longer and longer, and he takes care of his body increpably,
so we're hoping that he can hit that that high
mark in Nick Romona.
Speaker 3 (02:00:02):
Well, it's interesting as well. Jordan Morris obviously surpassed Gral
Rudias for most goals as a sounder at eighty seven.
Now sits on the bench tonight. We'll see if he
gets any action and can add to that. But when
you think about the dynamics of MLS, now you have
these these transfers in a league where players like a
cost have got acquired for five million from Cincinnati to Dallas,
(02:00:22):
n likely the players staying their entire career at one club.
Speaker 26 (02:00:26):
It's got to getting smaller and smaller.
Speaker 3 (02:00:27):
So for a player to come in and potentially be
Jordan Morris, it's going to take some doing.
Speaker 6 (02:00:33):
It's gonna take a lot of scoring balls and hit
a lot of time, that's for sure.
Speaker 3 (02:00:36):
It's gonna take a lot of time. It is a
cost two arms up in the air free kick for Dallas.
He's going to clip it into the fast stick, headed
down across goal and then hook clearby Knew who and
then roth Rock.
Speaker 26 (02:00:48):
Just puts his foot on not back into the box.
Speaker 3 (02:00:50):
Good solid headed by Yama four to the foot.
Speaker 26 (02:00:55):
Of Romero who just clips it in easily collected.
Speaker 3 (02:00:58):
By Stephan Fry. But it's a good free kick by
a Costs have found the back stick headed across goal
and it was new Who's managed to get his left
foot onto it and hook it away. There's just a
reminder for the Sounders that even without Moose of their
main goal scorer, they're a threat. The Sounder is going
to have to now manage a couple of additional attacking
(02:01:21):
options for Dallas. We see the introduction of former Sounders
men Leo Chu of course had Stelly year than Sounder's
just a couple of years ago. He now comes off
the bench. I'm sure he'll be motivated and fired up
to get one over his old team. And then and
(02:01:41):
golden attacking midfield players show comes on the field as well,
so del Gado off the show and we'll see what
type of attacking threat Dallas can bring.
Speaker 6 (02:01:55):
Now, Seattle sounders no what Leo Chu can bring and
whether it was consistent with us or not. You know,
he could be dangerous. Look, you gotta make sure that
if he does beat the first guy, you do have help,
because he has the quality to make things happens. As
he gets his first touch here, I think Leo Chu
is gonna have a little chip on his shoulder and
want to run.
Speaker 3 (02:02:13):
Out show in for Kyek like Filloyd del Gato in
for Chew, and soon Julio shifts on the left, show
on the right hand side. But here come the sound
is down the left hund side ten yards from the
end line in the foot of Rothor drops to the left, shoulder,
comes back to Vargas top of the box, strikes it
off the post. Follow it again and that's Missofskin. That's
off side this time. Wouldn't that be something? It was
(02:02:37):
a shot from Vargas off the post, Masofskin knocked it
into an empty net, but it's offside.
Speaker 6 (02:02:42):
It's quality again from Ovid Vargas finding a way and
Paul Rothrock and dropping his shoulder wanted to come into
that right foot, good touch from Ovid Vargus to set
himself up find that back line and it's I'm close.
It is, it's close enough. But Danny Massowski once again
the first guy on and I love that from him.
He's a good forward to find a way, whether it's
a goal from fifty or goal from five.
Speaker 3 (02:03:04):
I think, if I'm betting man, that's going to get
called back. If Vier takes a look at that, he
might be a yard on. I think it was Nolan
Norris who was dropped back in and I think this
is this pause here and play is gonna give the
a chance to take a look at this. And from
the naked eye, I don't know about you.
Speaker 6 (02:03:22):
It's close. It depends on what angle they're gonna get.
Because it's like I said, like you said about Norris,
out there looks like they're good. I thought they should
have taken a.
Speaker 25 (02:03:30):
Little look at that.
Speaker 3 (02:03:31):
I think that seemed to be pretty black and white
right there that it wasn't on side goal.
Speaker 26 (02:03:36):
Sometimes you question what they do look at and what
they don't look at.
Speaker 3 (02:03:39):
And with the technology they must have, how they don't
even figure it out that they can take a look.
But no goal given Musovski again, perfect number nine role,
right place, right time. Maybe he deserved that as the
ball goes over the top three kick given by the
referee in the middle of the park on Danny Lava
getting on the sixtieth minute.
Speaker 6 (02:04:00):
Love that from Danny Labor. Look, you got to come
up to the speed of the game. If you find
a way. What a better player to go up against
than Acosta to find your speed and he doesn't back down.
He gives him a little bit of a push to
shove and maybe a little bit of a knock to
get himself.
Speaker 3 (02:04:13):
In Dallas nil. Sounders won the score that is presented
by Toyota. Let's get here in thirty minutes to go.
Sounds looking reasonably comfortable, but Dallas have made some moves
now and there.
Speaker 6 (02:04:26):
It was a payback from show as well. So the
two guys that are trying to get up to the
speed of the game giving themselves a foul, making sure
that they're known and they're back and they're up to speed.
Speaker 3 (02:04:33):
Now, Sounds is gonna take their time, kim keyhe you
mentioned we were wondering what Bran Schmitz would do if
Jackson Reagan had to come off.
Speaker 26 (02:04:41):
He was a lightful like switch.
Speaker 3 (02:04:42):
Kim Key, of course, well known to Sounders fans. After
his career at MLS, went back over to Asia very
successful period of time again and then decided to make his.
Speaker 26 (02:04:57):
Move back to MLS twilight of his career.
Speaker 3 (02:05:01):
Is Jack Moore throws down roth Rock, he's asking for
a foul, he'd be Oregus giving Rothrock a little tug.
I'm not sure if he's gonna get anything there and
anything there, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
Speaker 6 (02:05:16):
But maybe at the halfway line, not inside the box,
something like that. It's it's it's strength for strength, and
I used to play with center backs with love that
kind of attack and love that kind of battle, even
inside the box because I know they're not going to
get that call.
Speaker 3 (02:05:31):
It comes down down the right hand side, clips down
the line, Does Jack Moore good cover by kim keyhees
he rolls the ball out on the far side. Took
him a little time to get fully fit. Of course,
off season for him came in not with a preseason
under his belt that the rest of the squad had,
so it took a little time to get kim Key go.
(02:05:53):
Kim Key he going. Of course, the Sounders have had
a stable back line with Yamar knew Who and Jackson,
so Kimki he had to bide his time. Hopefully for Jackson,
there's nothing too serious. He came off at halftime with what.
Speaker 26 (02:06:05):
Is seems like a hamstring injury.
Speaker 3 (02:06:09):
There comes Acrosta through the legs of Kahlany, just fed
him in there and then again through rolled on top
of the box. It goes to Julio with the outside
his foot towards the endline, to Norris who clips it
towards the top of the six. Good defending by knew Who.
I think it was.
Speaker 26 (02:06:26):
Shaq Moore who came flying in.
Speaker 3 (02:06:29):
Referee gives a free kick against Shack Moore on knew Who,
who's slow to get back to his feet. Sounds we'll
take that, but again a bit of confusion from the
Dallas players. There was a good ball.
Speaker 26 (02:06:40):
From Norris, clipped it in with his left foot.
Speaker 3 (02:06:42):
It just seemed like two players attacking each other, but
Chack Moore got called for the foul.
Speaker 6 (02:06:48):
I think it's a good play from both players, right,
I knew Who showing a little bit of strength and
awareness and making sure that ball is clear. Shack Moore
obviously darting in trying to find a way to get
his head on it. I don't think it's much of
a foul. Very referee obviously called it. But that's more
of a play on for me. But I love the
fact that when you do have a guy go down,
that you had a guy like kim Ki he that
(02:07:09):
can come in. They experience the knowledge whether he is
fully fit yet or not. He has the ability to
make sure that everything is organized and find the right
plays to go.
Speaker 22 (02:07:18):
Forward or not.
Speaker 3 (02:07:20):
I think Logan French will be a good opponent for
kim Ky here right like.
Speaker 26 (02:07:24):
Is it Bigger players a little bit less.
Speaker 3 (02:07:27):
Experience than Kiki has the experience on him and sounds
of course preserving this one goal lead here sixty fourth minute,
good step by Yama on that man Farrington who goes
down the line to skip through easily collected by Stepan
Fry as Julio made the run. But tonight's match is
(02:07:47):
presented by the Western Washington Toyota Dealers. Saunders back at
home next week face Nashville, Dallas play Minnesota. So as
parently happens through MLS, it's no easy game when you
look at the there was a question tackle, buy Show
(02:08:09):
the new player on the field. So Kayak went off
for Show. Kay was in the card. Now it's gonna
be an early yellow card on Show. It looks a
big physical presence in the middle of the park.
Speaker 6 (02:08:23):
So the Dallas players are arguing that he got a
lot of the ball there and he did. I think
it's I think the ref is looking at the follow
through as we watched this replay. He got a lot
of the ball, but the follow through had the studs
up high on the shin on Vargas. Look it's it's
it's a tough play for a referee in for players
because he did get all ball and he cleared the ball,
but it's the follow through that with through Vargas.
Speaker 3 (02:08:44):
Of course, with VR, anything that gets put in slow
motion just looks infinitely worse than it does in normal time.
Speaker 6 (02:08:50):
So and it is a painful one that the cleats
of the shin is a painful one and it's it's
not easy. But always we see a costa talking to
the ref and getting a yellow card behind the play there.
Speaker 3 (02:09:02):
Yea referee has been very liberal with his yellow cars.
Tonight it's matching his shirt. If it does feel like
when you set the stage for early yellow cars that
you did against. I think kay with that what we
thought was a bit of an innocuous challenge, more clumsy
than anything. You're setting yourself up for. I wouldn't say failure,
(02:09:24):
but you're certainly setting yourself up to manage the game
in a consistent, appropriate way. If you come in tight
at the very beginning, you're really causing yourself problems as
the game and gets further down the stret down the pike.
Speaker 6 (02:09:37):
You are and as a player, you got to realize
this as well. Can you talk about the savviness of
a player in the game awareness? You know a raf
is going to get in and we watched this tackle again.
It was a rough challenge as you put it in slow motion,
but you know this raff is going to want to
give out cards. Can you get in his ear in
a positive way to make sure that he doesn't know
that you're you know, when you are talking to him
in in a louder voice. Because it is a game,
(02:09:58):
there is emotions. Can you make sure that he knows
it's it's just a one time thing, it's not happening
all the time. Can you find a way to get
in the revs.
Speaker 3 (02:10:04):
Good Side sound is have it top of the books.
With Danny Labor crunching tackle on is it yellow card
for Danny Lava? I feel like there was two players
coming in slightly late by Danny Lava. There's gonna be
another yellow card this time for the Sounders. Man.
Speaker 6 (02:10:23):
I will say for the Sounders, if this game is
going to be stop and start like it is, it's
almost a positive as long as it's not towards their
own box, right, you don't want to get these fouls away.
But if it's stop and start, Dallas isn't getting rhythm either,
and we're already up on zero. We're just defending a
lead and you want to obviously play good soccer and
find ways around it. But if this is going to
be stop and start like it is, it's not going
to be a track meet and that's positive for the Sounders.
Speaker 26 (02:10:44):
Yep, good away game played by the Sounders so far.
Speaker 3 (02:10:48):
Can they find something in transition though, whether the Sounders
are built for that right now? Potentially with Ferrera, can
he find that space and time behind score against his
old team. Sounds just sitting at fourty eight percent and possession,
so they started off strong in the first twenty minutes.
Sitting in the mid fifties, Dallas have slowly worked their
way back into the game. The Costa manages the game
(02:11:10):
quick little ball to Leo Chew downline and goes to Farrington.
Good step by Kim Kihee and this time he clips
it down the line.
Speaker 26 (02:11:17):
Give it away though to A. Costa finds Leo Chew.
Speaker 3 (02:11:21):
To Ramera, who rolls it out to this near side
to Norris right in front of the Saunders bench, back
to Brazilian Ramiro. To A, Costa sounds holding the top
of their eighteen yard box.
Speaker 26 (02:11:33):
Five men lined up along.
Speaker 3 (02:11:35):
The eighteen Boar goes in, comes off Kilaney. He's asking
for the ricochet off his arm, but he did go
off the arm. But it's outside the eighteen yard box,
just left corner. But we know what a Costa can
do with the ball. He's gonna be extremely dangerou from
these situations. As we see a replay client just stretched
out his left arm inadvertent. It's gonna be freaking for Dallas.
(02:11:58):
Dangerous position, very dangers.
Speaker 25 (02:12:00):
Look, it's just in the corner of the box here.
Speaker 6 (02:12:01):
I don't think it's too much of an actual shooting opportunity,
but it's one where you can get you can put
in a dangerous position for Stephan Fry.
Speaker 25 (02:12:08):
Does you come out and punch it or does someone
get a little nick on it?
Speaker 6 (02:12:11):
And so this is a this is a tough one
for Stephan Fry and Seattle Sander's got to make sure
that they're on point and they're in front of their
guy this time. No one has to No one can
get in front of them and just get that little flick,
because again that puts Steven Fry in a tough position.
Speaker 3 (02:12:25):
Sound is leading one goal Chanil here sixty ninth minute.
They have to defend this free kick. Lots of space
for Costa to whip this ball in it. The ball
sits right on the corner of the eighteen yard box,
the left side our side, as were looking at it,
Dallas in their white shirts, white shorts, white sox teching
the goal to our left.
Speaker 6 (02:12:45):
There's a lot of space in that near post. And
I don't enjoy how much how much room there is.
Why there you go, Hazus Ferrera stepping in there.
Speaker 3 (02:12:51):
Yep. Sound is holding just about eleven ten eleven yards
out from their goal.
Speaker 26 (02:12:56):
Lots of space between Stefan.
Speaker 3 (02:12:57):
Fry and his back lines. It's good. The right foot
of a Costa just sets up three or four yards
away from the ball. Now he's stepped in and he's gonna
whip it in looks to try and catch out Stefan
Fryan on the near post, goes up and over the
two man wall. It goes wide. Sounds will take that
all day. It's gonna be goalkick Sounders that they continue
to lead here as we approach the seventy minute mark,
(02:13:19):
one goal to nil.
Speaker 6 (02:13:20):
And Stephan bry praises his wall saying, thank you well done.
Wait to stand your ground. No one ducks, no one,
you know, no one split that wall, and that's the
reason that he went white. Well.
Speaker 3 (02:13:31):
This copyrighting audio casts of Major League Soccer may not
be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the express written consent
of Major League Soccer. Cephan Fryan is gonna push out
his back line. Take this free kick. He's gonna launch
it long. Up goes Danny Missausi heads it down well,
challenged by Labor, hooked up by Ibiyaga, brought down by
(02:13:55):
Norris to a Costa. Good pressed by the Sounders as
they start to work the back line, forcing Dallas to
go back to Paz in the Dallas goal top of
his six yard box, rolls out to Ibiaga's Ferrara pressus
Jack Mordan as anasually turns out of pressure. Rot Or
asked for it. Thought the ball went over the far
(02:14:16):
end line, far sideline, but now a Costa has it
in transition across the halfway line, rolls it out to
Anderson Julio overlap and run by Norris to his left,
goes inside the eaching yard box, who was asking for
a handball. Nothing given by the referee so far. Paul
goes from Labor to the far side the left to
Knew who advanced from his left center back spot. Goes
(02:14:39):
back to roth Or a clips forward. Good play by Paul,
ball inside to Ferrera slasher run by Musofski. There he is.
The ball eludes him from Ferrera and there's Musovski goes down.
Is that a knee? Is that a muscular injury? He
went down inside the box and you don't like to
see any type of injury off the ball. Sounds are
(02:15:00):
asking for some help. Who's way out of position? It
comes kim Ky to step forward, who needs to get back.
There's five men towards the end line as it goes
then it's Farrington managed to save it, came off rolled on,
It's gonna be a corner kick, but again Sounders back
line just a little bit out of position who motioned
(02:15:23):
forward in support of Paul Rothrock. Sounders managed to work
it through as we see another play down on the
date now getting some stretches, looking maybe like a little
cramp in this warm weather. It's been a heavy load
for the Sounders after the first twenty minutes. Is Kilaney
what's getting his first start in a number of weeks
(02:15:45):
in place of Alex rolled on and there's Danny Massosis
in sitting in the other eighteen yard box asking for
some help medical Steff. This is where you know where
you are.
Speaker 26 (02:15:55):
In the pecking ordo which direction does the.
Speaker 3 (02:15:57):
Medical staff go?
Speaker 6 (02:15:59):
I mean, look, there's a to unpack and the last
two minutes of soccer there there's a call for a
handball on christ and Roldan in the box from Dallas.
We go out and there was a foul on show
which would potentially be another yellow card, which could have
been a red card for us. They playe as goes
on and now you have two players in the Seattle
on opposing boxes down on the ground right. There's a
(02:16:20):
lot to unpack here and we're hoping that everyone kind
of goes about it. But referee hasn't taken a look
and I think shows on a hey, no more fouls there,
because that could have been a second yellow and a
red card and would have hopefully seen the game out
for Seattle there.
Speaker 3 (02:16:34):
Missovsky continues to look across at the bench, almost plead
in motion to brun Schmidtz to make the change. I'm
not sure if it was muscular. He's certainly hoppling off
in a level of discomfort as Chris Cornish speaks into
his microphone to the bench giving some instructions.
Speaker 26 (02:16:54):
And based on what we're seeing with Danny Massovski.
Speaker 3 (02:16:56):
Walking over that endline right behind pauses goal, can't see
Danny Massowski making himself back on the field. He's get
here in the seventy third minute sounds our leading one nil,
but Brian Schmetz has got some choices to make in
terms of maybe some in four substitutions.
Speaker 25 (02:17:11):
Well, it looks like he's gonna make too now.
Speaker 6 (02:17:13):
But Danny Masowski doesn't look like that one as a
cramp and it looks like it's gonna hurt a little bit,
more like he can't continue, all right.
Speaker 3 (02:17:19):
So here's a test. So Cody Baker comes on, you'd
think that's a lightful light for killany and then read
Baker Whiting comes on. Is that a potential read on
the left? Paul Rothrock goes up front.
Speaker 6 (02:17:31):
I think it's more. I maybe at Haesus Ferrera up
top and and read Baker or yeah, Readbaker. Whiting maybe
has that second left ten and so Jesus kind of
finds his way forward. But look, your guess is as
good as mine.
Speaker 3 (02:17:48):
We'll see how it plays out. But the first thing
the Sounders and the new entrance to the game have
to do is defend a Dallas corner kick. It's gonna
be the fast side Downa's attacking the goal to our left,
their right hand, so it's gonna go short to show
back to a Costos there whipping in with his left foot,
easily collected by Stephen Fry. Paul Rothorpe just gets in
(02:18:10):
the way protector's goalkeeper.
Speaker 6 (02:18:13):
You talk about Stephen Fry having to come up every
once in a while. It's now been seventy four minutes
and he's had to make us save and he comes
out strong, gets a few knocks on that corner kick,
and that's the that's the goalkeeper you want. Stephen Fryes.
When his name is called, he's there for you.
Speaker 3 (02:18:27):
Yet. Fifteen minutes ago of the ninety Sounders leading one
goal to nil. Here in Frisco, Texas Sports Radio nine
fifty am Kelen Rowe sitting alongside me watching the Sounders
and Candy earn this valuable win. We asked the beginning
of the broadcast, is it a must win for the Sounders?
(02:18:51):
Certainly felt like it, especially after last week's game where
the players discussed it with the media this week, the
incredible disappointment at the end of the game, a bit
of a hair dry treatment from Brian Schmetz, a little
bit more serious in practice, and their approach to this
game for sure, and the need.
Speaker 26 (02:19:09):
To get a result. So far, so good for the Sounders.
Speaker 3 (02:19:11):
A couple of more changes for FC Dallas. It's gonna
be Noel Norris goes up Patrino. The new signing comes
on the field.
Speaker 26 (02:19:23):
It looks looks like a lightful like switch and.
Speaker 3 (02:19:27):
Kolago comes on, Ramiro goes off. If the ball goes
down the line picked up well by pas So Knitzer, bit.
Speaker 26 (02:19:42):
Lang comes on the field attacking.
Speaker 3 (02:19:46):
Threat he is the ball gets not long. Ball's gonna
come through. Cephro and Fry comes out of his box.
Ball wasn't gonna run through, so sef and Fry cleared
his lines up into the night. Sky goes over this
near sign for a throw in.
Speaker 6 (02:19:59):
No need to take a chance there. Well done by
Steven Fry. I get the ball out. You've only got fifteen.
Speaker 3 (02:20:03):
Minutes left, just so we'll see how Eric Quill, new
head coach for Dallas, sets up. All right, now, it
looks like they've got some attacking threat on for some
more defensive title players as a cost of drills.
Speaker 26 (02:20:18):
The ball picked up well by read Baker, Whiting.
Speaker 3 (02:20:22):
Finds Danny Laver rolls it out to this near side,
the right to Paul Rothrock. Ferrera making his running made
a runn He was the wrong choice of cross blocked out.
It's gonna be thrown on this near side, but he
had the space between goalkeeper and back line to thread
that cross. Wasn't able to find that pocket of space.
But here comes Rothrock towards the end line. A week
(02:20:42):
on the cross again looks like maybe a bit fatigued
for Rothrock. The last couple of minutes Sounders to win
it with Cody Baker. Good play by Cody, finds a
furtive rolled down. It comes Danny Laver just wriggles away
from pressure. Paul Rothick went inside. Now he gets it
again on this the assigned to right twenty yards from
the end line. Right channel goes back to Baker to
(02:21:05):
Vargas rest free of Leo Chu. Ball goes in well
to Danny Laver cuts in top of the box, finds
Ferrera ball top of the box to Obert Vargas to
New strikes it. He had read Baker whiting to his left,
decided to go for the shot and ball called by
the referee. Just standing a couple of yards away from Reid.
(02:21:26):
It's not a bad place to give up a foul though.
Deep inside they're attacking half for the field. Thirteen minutes
to go of the ninety Sounders leading one goal to nil.
Branis Schmitz has made his moves.
Speaker 6 (02:21:38):
It's unfortunately they knew who took that shot there, because
I thought the Sounders were playing really well, keeping the ball,
creating some good chances. If they could just find a
way to get the quality of a ball in that
side that box. I thought they were gonna end.
Speaker 25 (02:21:50):
Maybe you get a ball there.
Speaker 3 (02:21:51):
Well, that's a giveaway by Danny Laver as well. Those
are the types of balls it was rolled on. He's
making a run from a central midfield spot. He's got
to be rewarded with a ball to feet. The ball
goes down the line. Now, good play by Cephroan Froy
reads the play well, comes out his eighteen yard books,
clears his lines. No messing around by Stephan Frey. It's
gonna be throwing for Dallas far side. They're right. It
(02:22:14):
goes into the foot of Padrino, goes down the line
towards It costs a good challenge by Knew, who eventually
his remonstrates the referee wins the day. It's gonna be
a goalkick for the Sounders. But good, good insightsive play
by Dallas. But who's Knew who who read the danger?
(02:22:35):
Well made the tackle. It's gonna be a goalkick.
Speaker 6 (02:22:37):
What I love is Kinky. He dove in there, got beat,
but everyone decided to come back in and so instead
when one guy goes out, you have your you have
your cover from your other center backs and even from
from Rebaker Whiting on that left side as well. And
it's it's well done by the Sounders. Can they keep
that going? If one guy steps, if one guy gets beat,
they have to beat three or four more.
Speaker 3 (02:22:56):
It sounds four seven and seven at Dallas all time
and regular season and play fifteen goals, score twenty three
goals again. So last clean sheet was Houston nil nil
at home and seph and Fry earn his one hundred
and eighteenth clean sheet to start approaching the final ten minutes.
(02:23:17):
But your Sounders are back at home, as we mentioned,
to face Nashville SC on Saturday, April nineteenth at four
thirty pm Pacific. WATS the match via the MLS Season
Pass on the Apple TV app unless of ninety three
point three KGr FM and l RA thirteen sixty am.
The Providence, Swedish pre match show starts at four pm.
Spore goes down the line, right side, right corner of
(02:23:39):
the box, whipped in but block well by now now
he's stay home. He's on his bike again.
Speaker 26 (02:23:45):
These are the things that Bryan Schmetz has just and.
Speaker 3 (02:23:48):
He goes in. He's gonna get a yellow card for
absolutely no reason. No he doesn't. Maybe he gets away
with it, but you think again, it's a Monday morning
video replay, a new ten minutes to go.
Speaker 6 (02:24:04):
I mean, like you would think that we're playing in
San Diego last weekend. It's the same play, right, you
think you learn your lesson. I understand that he was
the only one going forward and he had cover in
the back, but you've got to learn the lesson.
Speaker 25 (02:24:17):
It's okay to stay home. You don't have to make
that run.
Speaker 6 (02:24:20):
You are no longer that that left winger that is
bombing down.
Speaker 25 (02:24:23):
You were in a back five. You are a center back.
Speaker 3 (02:24:25):
You are staying defending a one goal lead.
Speaker 6 (02:24:28):
Right away from any clean and a hard place to
play with quality players on the field. Still, I mean
you leave that space and a cost of fills your space.
That is not good for the Seattle Sounders. A little
bit of awareness, a little bit, a little bit of brains,
and I want to see the guys get on new
who there as well, Hey, we need you back here,
not up there.
Speaker 3 (02:24:46):
Yep. And he's got experience made this two hundred and
fiftieth appearance for the Sounders Old comp last week against
San Diego, the highest number of appearances by a sound
As defender and sound As MLS history. As the bull
goes down the line is again just a little bit
of slopping us by Paul Rothrock. Just looks like he's
(02:25:07):
getting some heavy legs back. There's a couple of times
his last couple of minutes he's been caught out with
the ball. Coddy Baker goes in hard. It's going to
be a thrown for the sound is not played by
Cody steps in. We know Cody's got some fire in
his belly. He likes to make a little tackle. Not
a bad player to have out there.
Speaker 6 (02:25:25):
Layout two as well. I love to see it.
Speaker 3 (02:25:30):
As we know when you can be friends off the field,
but certainly when he crossed the field, especially if it's
an old teammate, you want to get one over them
for sures. It comes Danny Lava right corner of the box,
lapping run by Vargas. Poor ball by Danny Leaver, but
gets it back from Vargas and a chance to me
whipping him with his right foot turned away from pressure.
Vargas gets it. Can he drive in towards the end.
Light had the chance again to try and play it in,
(02:25:51):
but no real options for Vargas and then gives the
ball away. Dallas come away with it with a cost
up pressure from the Amar wins the ball. It's the
back of Cody Baker as he was running back to retreat,
so his ball's gonna go back on the deck. It's
gonna be a free kick for Dallas deep in their
half of the field on their left hand side. Costa
(02:26:14):
it's gonna take it. It's gonna come back and support.
Speaker 6 (02:26:18):
There's no killer thought to the to the game at
the moment, and they're kind of just sales. Sounders are
just a little lacks of days ago from my liking.
Speaker 3 (02:26:24):
Ball comes with rath Rock right hand side, strikes it
block well by the Dallas back line. It was a
bit of a scuff shot by Paul. Here comes Padrino
striding over the halfway line far side the right is
Julio just cuts in and then raws it from center
to this near side the left with a Costa approaches
(02:26:45):
the top corner left corner of the eighteen yard box.
His chew comes in floats towards Farrington, good headed by
Reed sees the standing his feet. Jack Moore, the right back,
just needs to hold up his lines. He does ball
Ricochet's off, Nu goes down players, his lines goes over
the end line. He was looking for the foul. The
referee didn't buy it. I feel Keller is a setup back.
(02:27:08):
You may need to stay on your feet in the
eighteen yard box and just clear your lines.
Speaker 6 (02:27:11):
You're in the last ten minutes of a game, eight
minutes of a game, and you're a again, You're a
center back inside your own box and in a hard
place to play. You stay strong, you stand your ground.
You make sure there's there's nothing about that. You don't
wait for the referee who hasn't had the greatest game
to make that goal.
Speaker 3 (02:27:25):
There's a corner gate for Dallas. Whipped him with the
right foot of a Costa headed clear by Cody Baker.
Good play by Cody as he clears his lines. Paginio
gets it. Jesus Frer doing his defensive duties. It was
a good reception for Jesus from the home crowd, appreciating
all the efforts of his time in Dallas. Far side
the left is read Baker whiting with Roth the ball
(02:27:47):
at his foot, just pokes it towards Read Maybe could
have fed him a little further forward. Let the run.
As the ball goes into this near side now right
corner of the box, into Ferrera strikes it saved by pass.
Speaker 6 (02:27:57):
Was at the chance for Ferrera.
Speaker 3 (02:28:00):
Inside the eighteen yard box, struck it reasonably cleanly. There's
a comfortable saving the end by pass. The ball goes
along as it's hooked up by Yama, headed back by
Cody Baker. Good play by Cody. It's been a while
since we've seen Cody out there getting some meaningful minutes.
But he look comfortable there as he headed the ball
back to Frey. But that was a chance inside the
(02:28:22):
eighteen kelen first Jesus.
Speaker 6 (02:28:24):
Ferrara, it was. And look, I think Danny Levit did
a good job of bringing that ball down because Rebaker
riding didn't give him the easiest ball to handle. With
the guy coming Jordan, can he play that one on
the ground so so Daniel Lever can make a decision.
But you know, Hazus Farrah had taken a good touch
finding a way to get it on goal. And I
think there might be a little bit of fatigue on
those legs as well, because it didn't get the power
behind it that he wanted.
Speaker 3 (02:28:44):
Danny Levi has it on this on near side of
the right to Cody Baker, challenged by Leo Chu comes
off chew. It was over right in front of the
Dallas bench. It's going to be a soundest thrower. This
is where the experienced heads have rolled on Ferrera. Fry
Yama News. You mentioned two hundred and fifty games for
the Sounders need to be able to manage this game
time management. As we get in the final five minutes
(02:29:06):
of ninety Sounders leading one goal to nol off the
back of a seventeenth minute goal by Danny Massovski, it
comes rothro through the legs of the Dallas back line.
Ibiaga comes in. He could have found his his freres
making a dart team run inside the six, but it
was the big Dallas center back. Ibiaga came across deflex
(02:29:27):
off the Dallas man over the end line. Sounders will
take it. It's gonna be a corner kick.
Speaker 6 (02:29:32):
Good play, good heads up, well, good run from Paul
Rothbber obviously looking for that final ball to kind of
find Ferrera who is alone in the box. But There's
a reason Ibiaga can play for so long, and he's
a vent in this league because he can put out
those fires like he just did.
Speaker 3 (02:29:45):
Saw some mover on the Sounders bench. Georgia Manunga could
be a lightful light switch for Rothrockers looked a little
fatigued in these final last five minutes. It could be
a burst of energy for the Sounders. I mean, who
wants to face Georgie Munungo. But first thing they've got
to do is a corner Geke Wolverhoo. It's him heady
down off the post, off the line. It was read
Baker waiting, towering head up, came off the posts. Sound
(02:30:10):
is still happen down this Roy head Si it's a
Rothrock probably shrug off. It's gonna be a foul for
the Sounders, is you Gady just pushes over Rothtock just
needs to keep his calm, just walk away sound as
the leading won gold to know, nobody needs to get
a yellow cot. But as you mentioned, some of these
(02:30:30):
kind of delays just breaks the rhythm as Dallas trying
to chase this game.
Speaker 6 (02:30:35):
Kellen, it's good and I think Paul Rothrock, he's obviously
a chippy guy, and he wants to get involved, and
he loves those kind of plays. And I think this
is a smart time for a Paul Rothrock to do
a Paul Rothrock thing and just get in the way
and just just get in an annoying position for other
players and get you know, when you do get pushed
to fall down. He does a good job here. Like
you said, it breaks up the play and it gives them,
(02:30:56):
It frustrates Dallas and gets them off the romentum. It's
a well done heads up veteran move, if you recall.
Speaker 3 (02:31:02):
Let's get some Western Conference results as they come in
tonight Toronto nil, Minnesota nil. Good result on the road
four Minnesota. They continue to have a decent start to
their campaign Vancouver five to one winners over usin in Vancouver.
They certainly keep their strong early season form going Nashville one,
(02:31:22):
Salt Lake one, Colorado one, San Diego nil. And then
here in Frisco, Texas sound As lead one goal to
nil final minutes of the ninety We'll see what the
referee adds on. He added three minutes the end of
the first half. It turned into seven feed A couple
of injuries read Baker White and get nudged over. Easy
call by the referee. Good play by red. Now should start,
(02:31:48):
should see that change potentially for Georgie four.
Speaker 26 (02:31:50):
We expect to see Rothrop potentially go.
Speaker 3 (02:31:52):
Up as we see a quick replay came off the
inside of the post and it was chet right place,
right time, hook the ball away with his left foot.
But it is gonna be Rothrock comes off eighty eight minutes,
so serve by. Rothrock really put himself about. You could
see the leg the miles on his legs in the
last couple of minutes.
Speaker 26 (02:32:13):
But job well done by Paul Rothrock.
Speaker 3 (02:32:16):
And then I got Georgia Minong to come on to
create some panic and challenges and problems for the back
line of Dallas. And if you're a midfield player for
the sound is now you're asking Georgie you get wide,
just feed him the ball. And this all day long.
Speaker 6 (02:32:28):
You're asking to take players on one on one. Yet
do why position?
Speaker 23 (02:32:31):
We don't have.
Speaker 6 (02:32:32):
All that much time, and make sure you're doing your
defensive work. But when we have the ball, you make
sure you take a guy on or two and you're
finding your chances live. We don't need you coming inside.
We don't need that stay wide, Let's find you the
ball and you can create as.
Speaker 9 (02:32:44):
Much as you want.
Speaker 6 (02:32:46):
And for Paul Rothrock, this is the Paul Rothwrock that
fans saw last year. I think he had the work rate,
he had that little bit of a bite, but he
also had the quality to go with it today and
that's what that's what the Sounders need. And he stepped
up today and he didn't show up in the score,
he didn't show up in the assist, but that was
the quality performance for Paul Rothrocket. He can build on this.
You're gonna start saying you're gonna see the reason that
(02:33:07):
he is the starter from last year.
Speaker 26 (02:33:09):
Wait when you can get consistent performances.
Speaker 3 (02:33:11):
And Bran Schmidzer likes nothing more than being consistent, knowing
what you're to get week in week out. You build
your baseline that way. It certainly helps put you on
this team sheet. Here comes that man Georgie on the
right hand side. Farrera is there, ball goes into Ferrera.
Can he find his first goal and just drags it wide.
It wasn't off side. It looked like he just inched
(02:33:31):
off side inside the eighteen yard box. But Frea just
desperate to find that goal, that first goal for the
sound is. It wouldn't be so sweet if you could
find it in front of his home crowd. Dallas spent
so many years here is he's see this replay here, Keller.
Speaker 25 (02:33:46):
He is just a bit offside.
Speaker 6 (02:33:47):
But what I love from Georgie is that he's willing
to look for Ferrera. He knows what one that he's
in a good spot, but two what it means to
Jesus to get this goal. And he's very unselfish there
because everyone knows that Georgie wants to take that guy on.
Speaker 3 (02:33:59):
We'll see what the riff he adds on. We're getting
to the final minute, last minute of the ninety Here
comes Georgie again. Not what Dallas want to see is
they chase him down. Can Georgie drop his head, drop
his shoulder? Getting double teamed here? And unfortunate for Georgie
is easily shaking off the ball as he goes into
the Dallas back line.
Speaker 6 (02:34:19):
That's a little bit of smarts there is. You don't
want to show the ball too much as the referees
hold up six minutes of extra time, but Georgie showed
the ball a little too much there. Can you use
that strength. He's very strong kid. Can you use that
strength hold the ball up and not make sure it's
an easy takeaway.
Speaker 3 (02:34:33):
Sounders have six minutes to hold on here. They lead
one goal to nil, their third straight away game before
they come back home next week to play Nashville. Bron
Schwetzer on his feet, just orchestrating things. Sounders back line
now they're shifted in more to a conventional five at
the back. Just defending Stephan Fry's goal. So Stephen Fry's
(02:34:54):
had not too much to do. Only one shot on
target for Dallas today. It comes Leo Chuo towards the endline.
He goes bull cuts back top of the box. Great
deflection by new right place, right time. It was Anderson
Julio looked all about to knock the ball into the
back of the net and he was New who went
(02:35:15):
down deflected it. Why did the post corner kick for Dallas?
Speaker 6 (02:35:18):
We talked about the danger of Leo Chew and he
was the one that put that ball in. He has pace,
he has the ability to put a good ball inside
and he did. He cut that back just a little
bit away from Kim Kihi and good defending from knew
who in an unfortunate spot that Julio found himself in.
Speaker 3 (02:35:32):
Sounders need to stay strong, new who just needs to
keep calm.
Speaker 6 (02:35:36):
Well done by Yamar here that this is a captain
from Gamar and kim Kihi knew who was talking. He's
talking to the players, he's talking to the ref Hey, guys,
we got about five minutes here. Yamar stepping in front,
making sure that nothing is happening.
Speaker 3 (02:35:47):
Yemo just organizing, helping read Baker Wainsting just get his
mark knew he just needs to take a breath. Defend
this corner kick. Corner is on this left hand side down.
Let's have a chance. We're getting in towards plus four
minutes for this game. Six minutes about it time it
(02:36:08):
sounds have to defend this corner kick.
Speaker 26 (02:36:10):
No, who just needs to maybe step away from me.
Speaker 3 (02:36:14):
Is gonna certainly look for some type of kill engineer
and go down the referees eagle eyes right now, six
yard boxes packed with blue shirts and white shirts. Ball
goes in and easily collected by Fry as he clatters
into the posts. You heard it through the microphone went through.
(02:36:34):
I think he's going to be okay. It's just letting
them know he's okay. But he's going to take his
time getting to his feet.
Speaker 6 (02:36:40):
I mean his goalkeepers diving. I mean it just come on,
just get get on your feet. They make fun of
us for diving. I mean he saw the post there,
It's not like the post moved.
Speaker 26 (02:36:49):
Well, can't give a yellow card to a post.
Speaker 3 (02:36:51):
Referee tried the steps going to put up, push up
his back line. He's going to launch the ball forward.
The Sounders see out these final minutes of the game,
there's Georgie can't quite keep it on this near side.
It's gonna be a Dallas throwing Sounders needed to take
a breath, just be calling these final three minutes or so?
(02:37:12):
Can they earn the three points? Have you a valuable
three points? As you look at the standings right now,
Sounders sitting at six points coming into today's game. Nine
points will jump them least a couple of spots for
right now. They've got a home game next week. So
as much as last week at San Diego was a
(02:37:34):
difficult result to take, it may have just shaken the
Sounders into life because today has been a much improved
performance away from home. As Dallas come again a cost
at left corner of the box. Leo chut to his
left ball flicked around the corner by Patrino. Sounds need
to get their foot behind the ball, clear their lines
they do with rolled.
Speaker 6 (02:37:52):
On this league is wow that you just get your
points away and they're doing that now as they locked
down this last few minutes. If you get your points
away and fight and you'll play well at home this
in this league, that's that's a play up Earth.
Speaker 3 (02:38:06):
All headed clear by Yeamar finds a fit of a
Costa to be everywhere right now, challenged by rolled On,
and then Vargas comes across what they are costed swung
maybe an arm hit Cody Baker. He did earn the foul.
Referee didn't see the afters.
Speaker 6 (02:38:24):
Two minutes.
Speaker 3 (02:38:26):
Two minutes ago, Sounds leading one goal. Channil Scorre update
is presented by Providence Swedish.
Speaker 26 (02:38:31):
Don't leave us at the end of the game.
Speaker 3 (02:38:34):
Jackson felt Marcus Hanneman will be back to break it
all down. Now you see a purple shirt of Pars
inside the box, the big Dallas goalkeeper coming up. This
final ninety seconds free kick for a Costa from their
left channel. It's gonna be his right foot between an
inswinger with his right foot Georgie just ten yards away.
(02:38:55):
Sound is defending inside their eighteen yard box and that
is poor, poor, poor by a Costa not up to
his usual standards. But the Sounders say that all day long.
As the ball goes over the crossbar, it's gonna be
a goal kick for Sounders. Just over a minute to go,
Sounders leading one goal to nil. And Callen, you've been
out there many times as I have. When you see
that ball go over the crossbar, you take a nice
(02:39:18):
big sight relief and you think you maybe just quite
get there over the finish line.
Speaker 6 (02:39:22):
And maybe that luck has just kind of turned our
way a little bit, right, Okay, that's a dangerous position
to be in. A cost A quality player, MVP type
player on the ball and you find a little bit
of luck where it goes over and he doesn't hit it.
Speaker 25 (02:39:33):
Right now, it's that last minute.
Speaker 6 (02:39:35):
You dig deep, you know it's gonna hurt, but you
find a way, and that there is Yamar just clearing
the ball down into the corner, and that's exactly what
you want to see for this last minute.
Speaker 3 (02:39:43):
Yep. Just over thirty seconds to go. At the six
minutes about it time, No real delays to speak about,
other than maybe a bit of argibargie in the eighteen
yard box of that corner kick, we'll see all the
referee adds on to the six is already added. At
the end of the ninety Costa has it. Freer comes
back to help step Sin does roll down, does his
defensive duties, knocks the ball down. Final fifteen seconds of
(02:40:05):
the six Sounders pressing up the field, holding their line.
Now as they drop back in a bank of five,
all goes the Leo Chu Good defend him by Cody Bakers,
rolls the ball down the line. Now George can he
stride forward, wins the foul and you got a thing
that might just be about that. As we take past
the six minute mark, Sounds will take their time, and
(02:40:27):
you'd think, and there's a referees whistle. Well earned, well
deserved three points and win for the Sounders their third
straight away game and a three points for the Sounders
off the back of.
Speaker 26 (02:40:41):
A seventeenth minute goal by Danny.
Speaker 3 (02:40:44):
Massovsky was Pedro de la Vega who took the shot.
It rebounded off the posts. Walks slightness and pushing and
shoving still going after the ninety here as the Sounders
trying to pull themselves away. But kell Roe Branish Mess's
members proud of the performance tonight. A really good solid
away game performance and three points for the team.
Speaker 6 (02:41:05):
Was it was quality performance and I think it was.
It was a team performance. It wasn't one or two
guys that stepped up. Yes, guys had performances. I think
Danna Missowski was good obviously finding the goal, that Pete
de Vega was very good in that first half.
Speaker 25 (02:41:17):
You know, Christian Rodin cutting off a lot of pieces.
Speaker 6 (02:41:19):
But it was a full team performance. Everyone was working hard,
everyone was having a little bit of a quality it was.
It was a group performance and ethinic for me on
the road especially, that's what you need to get points
in this league.
Speaker 3 (02:41:31):
Well, thanks for everyone involved in today's broadcast and his
hearst here in the booth on the board, Keeley Dunning,
Kevin k and Jordan Thompson for all their help and
assistance building up for this game. Of course, to former

Saturday afternoon. But for now we'll take a short break
Jackson Phelps and Marcus Hanneman. We'll be back to break
everything down from toyot to stadium in Frisco, Texas. It
finishes FC Dallas Mill sound.

Speaker 11 (02:42:41):
We all know there're are morning people and not so
mourning people, But now that McDonald's has bagels, the moaning
people demographic might just have to make room for some
new members of the club.

Sounders FC. The Sounders FC Postmat Show starts now.
Speaker 4 (02:45:55):
It is a final from Frisco, Texas. Your Sounders have
their first win and more than a month one nothing
final at FC Dallas. They're gonna come home with all
three points. They end the three match road swing with
the win, and what a win. It was so much
to discuss here over the postgame show. Jackson thoughts Marcus
(02:46:16):
Hannaman here for the next twenty twenty five minutes as
we break this thing down, Marcus, there is a lot
to discuss here. From a one nothing game where the
goal was scored in the seventeenth minute, that was a
crazy second half.
Speaker 6 (02:46:28):
What are your just opening thoughts here?
Speaker 5 (02:46:30):
Well, they needed a way win, right, and how a
win changes everything? Right, you start moving up on the
table and you know it's hard. And then you could
see what it meant to the guys on the field
and after the game and stuff like that. They were
pumped right, and they needed it right. There's a lot
of pressure on them, coaching staff, everybody.
Speaker 4 (02:46:49):
And it certainly was. I think Hayesu's Ferreira, you could
see how badly he wanted to score to night, like
he had a couple good chances and you know one
guy saved one was just right, but he was off anyway,
But he definitely wanted to score. Even him not getting
on the score sheet, it did feel like it does
feel like just watching him play and watching the relief
(02:47:10):
and you know, just seeing his demeanor coming off the
field that the final.
Speaker 6 (02:47:14):
Whistle, he got a lot out of it.
Speaker 4 (02:47:16):
Maybe this is the sort of thing to get the
monkey out of the back, But for a lot of
guys like that, just you can feel sort of like, okay, guys,
let's breathe. There's a big three points. We're back in
this thing. This is Seattle Sounders Soccer.
Speaker 5 (02:47:29):
Yeah. I did tell you during the game that it
is a bit weird seeing him in the Sounders cheers.
You see him, you're like, especially playing against Dallas, You're like, wait,
what's going on here? But he had it. I thought
he had a good game. You know, he was involved
in a lot of the our key plays, putting pressured
on Dallas, you know, good outlet balls. He was in
the right spots. And I mean he's a good player.
Speaker 4 (02:47:51):
He is, and I think that that position fits him
best when he's in that pocket. And when Albert Rusnak
gets healthy, we'll see where he goes. There's gonna be
a lot of common named Pedro. De la Vega got
forty five minutes, Marcus, and in those forty five minutes
dal la Vega, I mean he was energized. His shot
causes the rebound that goes for Danny Mazowski to score
the goal. Day la Vega's sort of like, all right,
(02:48:13):
this is Pedro, and if we can kind of keep
him healthy and get him rolling on this truck.
Speaker 6 (02:48:17):
He's just such a difference maker on the field.
Speaker 5 (02:48:20):
Yeah, he was our best player in the first half
for sure. I mean he was all over the place.
He's involved in everything, and you know, looks good on
the ball. And you know when he took that shot,
I'm like, come on, and then off the post and
I'm like, oh, okay, here we go. I mean, beautiful start.
But you know, I thought I was a little bit
far for him to be shooting, you know, with his
left foot, a little curler and but pinpoint accuracy off
(02:48:42):
the post. You know, that's what it needs.
Speaker 3 (02:48:45):
Well.
Speaker 4 (02:48:45):
Mention that tonight's play to Tonight's Toyota Man of the
Match is Danny Mazowski with that goal, your logo Toyot
Dealers are proud to present Tonight's man of the match.
And there's a lot of I think contenders. He is
the goal scorer, and I'm not going to give him
play the match.
Speaker 3 (02:48:58):
We'll get into that.
Speaker 4 (02:48:59):
In the next segment. I want to save the new
conversation for coming up next. It was interesting that it
surprised the heck out of me as I was kind
of coming back into the room, got a minute and
a half into the second half to see that kim Key.
He was the replacement for Jackson Reagan who's off due
to a right hamstring injury. We'll get an update on
that from Brian Schmitzer post game and then later on
(02:49:21):
in the middle of the week. But it's kim Key
he coming on, and you know, for you know thet
kim Ky, he an older player who's had some good
years in the K League after his couple of years
with the Sounders, did a job next to Yemar.
Speaker 5 (02:49:32):
I thought, yeah, no, he looked good. You know, we
just make assumptions and you know how that goes.
Speaker 4 (02:49:38):
I wasn't gonna mention the yah yeah, because we're both
through the half time kind of like, yeah it's John Bell, Yeah, nope, yeah, okay,
but kim did a good job overall, and you know,
ultimately we see Danny Lava come on the field as well,
and that midfield there. How many times did we see
the Sounders earning possession there, you know, in the final
(02:49:58):
twenty minutes of that game, and it was up Danny
Lava or oh Beed Vargas just having to you know,
wrinkle away their way out of pressure to keep possession
and eat up a lot of minutes down the stretch.
Speaker 5 (02:50:09):
Yeah, Mazowski almost had two goals tonight, that's true. Yeah,
and off the post as well, rebound, and you know
he was called off sides, but I don't think he
was offside. We looked at that. I can't believe they
didn't replay it.
Speaker 4 (02:50:23):
So the way I understand this, and it took me
a long time reading through the rule book about a
year ago actually figuring this out. So on a situation
like that, the VAR official wherever I think in the stadium,
they are looking at that play over and over and over.
And then the VAR official is in the ear of
(02:50:44):
the head official and they can make a recommendation and
they can say no, you need to go look at
this to the head official, but the VR official is
looking at that over and over figuring out, okay, wait,
do you need to look at it? And I guess
whoever the VAR official was, I don't have that on
my notes, said no, you don't need to look at that,
but still I would kind of and then ask the
(02:51:04):
VR official, that's a pretty darn close play. Why don't
you make the recommendation to the head ref to look
at it? And you don't and make sure, like I know,
like ninety percent of the time that the VAR official
recommends go look at that the play gets flipped. I
understand that, but still I'll play that close at least
make the recommendation to get another pair of eyes on.
Speaker 5 (02:51:23):
That, because I think Danny Lava was the one actually
all sides because he was slightly in front and the
linesman can't see that, right because they're both in the
same in line. But the problem with the VAR right
is you have the replay, but it takes way too long, right,
and football doesn't take this long. Like we've been waiting
in the stadium for two or three minutes and they
(02:51:45):
can't figure it out. It's either like clear and concise
and you can figure it out or you can't.
Speaker 4 (02:51:50):
Or just make the recommendation go look at it. Yeah,
and they didn't. I don't understand why you can't just
make the recommendation. Hey, you don't need to change this call.
I'm not telling you to go change call. I'm just saying,
head referee.
Speaker 6 (02:52:02):
Go look at it.
Speaker 5 (02:52:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:52:04):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (02:52:05):
I don't know how the VR officials make that mindset
of do look at it or don't look at it?
Speaker 5 (02:52:12):
But they they but it was against Dallas Dallas away,
so that has something to do with this.
Speaker 4 (02:52:18):
Can we from for a moment as we're as we're
talking about, we'll assume they're not cheaters. I think there
is a breaking news. Actually there's actually breaking news from Frisco, Texas.
The post that Stephan Fry fell into was just given
a yellow card after the match ended.
Speaker 5 (02:52:33):
That could have happened.
Speaker 4 (02:52:34):
It was actually the twenty first yellow card handed out tonight.
Speaker 5 (02:52:37):
There were some against Stephan Fry.
Speaker 3 (02:52:40):
Oh yeah, did Fry also get one?
Speaker 5 (02:52:42):
Yeah? I mean like giving it to him?
Speaker 6 (02:52:44):
So how many yellows can you hand out in a match?
Speaker 5 (02:52:46):
Gees? The ref did not have a great game. There
was some phantom like all the players were looking around
like what that was a foul?
Speaker 6 (02:52:53):
Okay, very very odd game from their officials.
Speaker 4 (02:52:57):
They have a hard have a hard job, as Brian
Schmenzer very politically correct says, each time, they have a
hard job.
Speaker 8 (02:53:03):
It was just.
Speaker 4 (02:53:06):
Made to look a little bit harder tonight. Hey, listen,
we're joking because we're smiling, because we are happy. The
Sounders won one.
Speaker 6 (02:53:14):
Nothing.
Speaker 4 (02:53:14):
It's a Danny Mazoski goal, it's a rebound in the
seventeenth minute.
Speaker 3 (02:53:17):
It's a good goal.
Speaker 6 (02:53:18):
It's a good goal. I never said it wasn't a
good goal.
Speaker 5 (02:53:20):
I know, I was just clarifying for the listeners. The
goal wasn't It wasn't a tap in from a foot.
Speaker 9 (02:53:26):
It was not.
Speaker 3 (02:53:26):
It was a good goal.
Speaker 4 (02:53:27):
It was a good rebound and a good awareness from
Danny Mozoski to put it in the back of the net.

Speaker 4 (02:57:13):
It's been a minute since taking care of Business, which
we play, of course in every victory postgame show for
the Seattle Sounders. Well, Don Anderson, I truly forgot this
song existed, and it's good to hear here have a
jingle version of this.
Speaker 3 (02:57:26):
We do because they're singing jingle bells probably at.
Speaker 4 (02:57:29):
This exact second right now in the locker room. Because
the Sounders have one in Dallas one to nothing, and
I should mention that the Sounders have won today and folks,
you had to win tomorrow. Down to the McDonald's app

Speaker 6 (02:58:10):
Really really good there.
Speaker 5 (02:58:12):
So jingles Bells was from NSL Sounders, like old school
all the way we did it. And the best thing
about it was having a new player in the locker
room who didn't know what was going on. And then
you just watch them as everyone starts singing jingle bells.
Speaker 6 (02:58:25):
It is nodding their head, were like, what is happening?
Speaker 5 (02:58:31):
What kind of team did I come to?
Speaker 4 (02:58:32):
I was thinking, you know, Ryan Kent's not in Dallas, right,
now he was just getting his visa in Vancouver. But
when when Ryan Ken is the first part of that
that video of seeing right, what the hell it's gonna
be a fun one when we see it. All right,
it's time for our Emerald Queen Casino play the match,
which will lead into an entire discussion. I gave Danny
mczowski the Player of the match because I wanted to
(02:58:54):
use this as a kind of a jumping off point
for this discussion.
Speaker 3 (02:58:56):
So listen, this was all.
Speaker 4 (02:58:58):
This was, in all honesty, a very big moment in
this match. Ninety first minute, Dallas is on the sounders
they're pressing. It's Leo Chu earning himself a great spot.
The cross comes into Julio and knew who has an
epic moment in the ninety first minute.
Speaker 3 (02:59:13):
It comes Leo Choo towards the endline. He goes bull
cuts back top of the bo's great deflection by new
right place, right time. It was Anderson. Julio looked all
about to knock the ball into the back of the net.
Speaker 4 (02:59:27):
That was the play of the match presented by Emerald
Queen Casino, the betting capital of Northwest and that ball
was going into the back of the net were it
not for new Who's big block there.
Speaker 6 (02:59:37):
And it's funny.
Speaker 4 (02:59:38):
I think I think Andrews you said it best where
it's it's we see the good of new Who that
moment and another block he had a couple seconds earlier.
But then also he's getting up the field as an
attacker laid in that game. When you're leading one nothing
on the road, you're.
Speaker 7 (02:59:55):
A center back new Who, well, and that's what you're
talking about early in the game. It's like, okay, hopefully
now being part of the back line, right, you're not
as you're not asked to do as much going forward
as an outside back that you know your role now
is to sit back and defend, especially when you're up
one zero, especially when you're away at Dallas and it's
late in the game. Like you would think that would
(03:00:15):
all come naturally, but I guess not.
Speaker 3 (03:00:18):
Marcus.
Speaker 4 (03:00:18):
We talked in a halftime show about discipline for Newho
and it just it wasn't there down the stretch in
the most meaningful minutes.
Speaker 5 (03:00:25):
Yeah, and then you know you're gonna get forward. There's
gonna be times where you have to do that, but
then you know, no interest like in hurrying back. That's
that's the issue, because it's going to happen, right, You're
gonna have to go forward, and then you know knew
who like laid on in the game, there was a
so he's like, oh, I'm out of position. I'm chasing
back with a defender. So he fouls him, right, which
(03:00:47):
is kind of a smart play, right, because then you
get a chance to go back. But you're like, you
got to sprint and get back, right. Yeah, if you
can run for, you can run back, especially as a
center back. I mean that needs to be a dead
sprint back, get in position.
Speaker 4 (03:01:00):
The light jog all the way back was it's concerning,
and I mean the end of the game that they
showed this on the TV broadcast that we were watching.
At the end of the game, Steph's trying to talk
to him, Brian's trying to talk to him, and he's
kind of throwing his hands up as in like I
don't know what. I don't know what he's saying in
that moment, but he clearly there were you know, emotions
where high frustrations were there, and it sort of is
like boy after a one nothing win where you had
(03:01:21):
these blocks and that attitude. I mean, I don't know
as a veteran goalkeeper leader that you were in that
locker room that Stephan Fry is right now in that
locker room. I'm just not sure what you do in
that situation with a guy who clearly it's the good
and the bad and he just doesn't want to listen
in that moment Knew, who sees the red mist a lot, right,
he's just like, you can't, you can't talk to him,
(03:01:42):
you can't tell him anything. And even Fry tries to
grab him, right because you know it's it's after that block,
there's this corner, and then there's some pushing and shoving,
right and you know Knew who takes everything personally right,
and but he's but he's hot headed. But that that's
the player that make that he is right, and it
makes him who he is too, right, that kind of
hot head streak, and so trying to rein that in.
(03:02:04):
But when he's not won't listen to anybody, That's where
the problem comes in. Yeah, I worry about that, but
I mean I would hope that everything gets resolved by now.
I mean, you know, fifteen minutes after the game end,
and I hope everything would be resolved and you know
all as well, but he did come up with a
massive couple of massive defensive plays.
Speaker 5 (03:02:22):
It's just it is y.
Speaker 4 (03:02:24):
I just would love if it was just the discipline
to know, it's one nothing, a few minutes left on
the road, gotta stay back, gotta stay.
Speaker 5 (03:02:33):
Home and keep the clean sheet, get the win, and
you know, if that goes, if something happens in that situation, right,
I mean he's taken the blame.
Speaker 6 (03:02:44):
I mean, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (03:02:46):
It's a tough situation. Yeah, you know, because I would
just love the discipline to be there. But at the
end of the day, listen again, it's sort of a
thing where twenty minutes after the game ends, you hope
everything is resolved in the locker room and he'm down,
and then all of everybody can celebrate accordingly with jingle
bells to bring it all back around. Hey, I think
(03:03:07):
I think you have something to do before we take
a break.

the train to the match, but we want to remind
you to use crosswalks and obey traffic signals near tracks.
Trains are quieter than you expect, travel in both directions
and approach at varying speeds.
Speaker 23 (03:04:59):
That are difficult to judge.
Speaker 14 (03:05:01):
The amount of time you might say by ducking or
going around a crossing gate isn't worth risking your life for.
Speaker 23 (03:05:07):
So next time here buy a track, play it safe.
That way we all win.

You're listening to the home of Sounders fc cle's Sports
Radio nine fifty KJR.
Speaker 4 (03:06:54):
Wrapping up the postmatch show here on Sports Radio nine
tifty KJR AM Sounders winning in Dallas.
Speaker 5 (03:07:00):
Nothing feel give.
Speaker 6 (03:07:01):
It's a mixed bag a little bit, but.
Speaker 4 (03:07:03):
It's overall very happy coming out of a one nothing
win where Danny Mazowski scores in the seventeenth minute. We
saw him come off maybe a slight knock. We saw
Jackson Reagan come off with a right hamstring injury. I
should know more about that soon and going into the week.
But obviously the center back depth is good. Jonathan Bell,
kim Key he you also have Stuart Hawkins at lower level,
(03:07:25):
so you know, if Reagan's out, we got guys as well.
So we'll see about those injury uplis. But as we
look ahead for the Sounders in terms of what's next,
no midweek game. The next game will be one week
from today and it's finally back home at lumen Field.
We're gonna be hosting Nashville SC next Saturday, April twelfth.
It'll be a four to thirty kickoff at Luhman. It'll
(03:07:47):
also be a provident Swedish pre match show of four
o'clock and that's actually gonna be over on the FM
station ninety three point three KJR FM four o'clock pre
match four to thirty kickoff. Folks, you can also watch
the match on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app.
Listen in Spanish language on l RA thirteen sixty. So, Marcus,
we know that it's a maybe for Albert Rusnak and
maybe for olks rolled on. But the way that we
(03:08:09):
saw Pedro Dale Obga play the way that we saw
you know, Jordan Morris has worked back. Didn't see the field,
but we'll see what his availability could be. Uh, this
is a team that you know, confidence should be pretty
darn good coming out of this went on the road.
Speaker 5 (03:08:23):
Yeah, we're we were looking for Morris to get some
minutes tonight, which we're excited for, and we didn't see.
But that's fine. Right. It's hard coming off the bench,
especially if you're not used to it, because you got
to stay warm like the whole time, and it's I
think it's easier starting a game right and then and
then going because now you get the full warm up,
you get yourself into it, and then coming back from injury,
(03:08:45):
if you can't play the whole game, it's like, oh,
how do I how do I feel? How do I
get back into this? So hopefully he can just start
maybe next game and you know, play as much as
he can or whatever.
Speaker 4 (03:08:55):
And yeah, because Pedro was clearly on the forty five
minute limit today, So if Jordan can be on the
same kind of track and you know, get through forty
five minutes against Nashville and then that would be huge,
especially whatever is going on with Missoski. Just giving you
that option is great, but you know, with with Pedro
and that attack on there, Nashville is a good defensive team.
(03:09:16):
We'll see overall how that looks. But it's going to
be great to be home and after such a long
road trip where you're playing road game, road game, road game,
being back in front of your home fans, Marcus is
certainly going to be big for this team.
Speaker 5 (03:09:28):
Yeah, especially after coming home on this win. Right, it's like, okay,
we're back, right, everyone feels that way, The fans are
going to feel that way, and it's not going to
be Oh, I hope we start off well, right, Yeah,
but that was the key to today. They had a
great first five minutes, right.
Speaker 6 (03:09:43):
And they shut them. They shut you know they did
to Dallas.
Speaker 4 (03:09:46):
What I think the plan was in San Diego, which
was just in that first fifteen knowing you might have
to absorber a little bit of pressure on the road,
but just be disciplined in your positioning and make sure
they don't get anything early. And we defensively did a
great job.
Speaker 5 (03:10:00):
Yeah, and then no more short corners.
Speaker 6 (03:10:02):
I'm with that.
Speaker 4 (03:10:03):
Yeah, with hey quickly we have live standings here. We
moved up a few spots eleventh place. Right now we're
only one point back of LAFC, who hold the final
playoff spot right now, they have ten points. There's a
lot of games currently going on, so a lot of
MLS action. We'll talk about on Wednesday's Sounders Weekly seven
or eight pm. Sports Radio ninety three point three KJIR FM,
