(00:22):
FC Postmat Show starts now.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
It's a win for the Seattle Sounders today at lumin
Field at Albert Rusnak penalty in the eighty sixth minute wins.
It won nothing for the radh Green. Jonathan Bell had
to get ready for this game, coming into the game
in the fifteenth minute for an injured Yamargomez Andrade. They
keep the clean sheet and Bell is down on the
field with Michelle Wodko.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
Thank you Jackson, Jonathan, congratulations on the win today. A
hard fought match against Dallas. But walk me through the
early on beginning of this match. Fifteenth minute, Yamar goes down.
What is it like to see your teammate go down
and then all of a sudden You're like, Okay, no
warm up, boom, I'm going in.

Speaker 4 (01:00):
You just gotta stay ready, That's honestly, it be ready.
So you don't gotta prepare to get ready. Anything can
happen in these games. And in that moment, I had
to just lock in really and and you know, find
my rhythm in the game as a game developed.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
You guys kicked off a three match homestand now with
the one point or with the three points, excuse me,
with the win over Dallas, what will that do for
the momentum of kind of the week ahead.

Speaker 5 (01:24):
I think it's a good win. You know, we fought.

Speaker 4 (01:26):
They gave it a really hard run, you know, for
all ninety minutes, and you know the thing most important
thing was that we didn't give up. We kept pushing them,
kept pushing them, kept knocking. You know, opportunities came. Eventually
got a PK. We put it away, we held it down.
We got the ones that a wink. So I think
it's a good push, you know, moving into the midweek.
So you know, I think we're all confident now going
forward and we know what we have to do.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
One of two teams in Major League Soccer that is
still undefeated at home? What is it about this season
playing here at Lumen Field in front of these fans.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
Yeah, you know, it speaks valumes. We don't want to
lose in front of our fans. They come out all
the time, they support us, whether it's cool, whether it's rainy,
and you know, we take pride in end. We want
to keep this as a fortress.

Speaker 5 (02:06):
Love it.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
Jonathan, thank you so much. Congratulations on the big three
points in the win today and coming in saving the
day off the bench. We appreciate the time.

Speaker 6 (02:13):
Appreciate it.

Speaker 5 (02:14):
Thank you, Jackson. Back to you, Thanks Michelle.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Jonathan Bell there part of the Sounders defense gets a
clean sheet today in a one to nothing win over
Dallas once again, Albert Rusnak with the penalty in the
eighty sixth minute after a Dallas handball in the eighty
fifth and sometimes it wasn't the prettiest of matches, but boy,
we are not going to remember that, you know, in October.
We're just gonna remember that it was three points here

(02:37):
on a beautiful, beautiful afternoon here at Lumenfield in may Well.
We welcome you in fully to the postgame show, Jackson, Feltz,
Kellen Rowe be viewing guys as we kind of get
things going. Let's just start off with the initial thoughts
after what was a one nothing win today against Dallas Kellen,
it was an exciting match.

Speaker 5 (02:55):
I know what.

Speaker 6 (02:55):
Not many goals happened. Is an exciting match. A little
disappointing in the sense of the finishing. I thought they
could have done a lot better in that sense. We
have some things to work on. Thankfully, they can have
another game here on Wednesday. That's gonna be a fast
recovery and they can kind of get those misses out
their brain. But in the end, like you said, they're
not gonna remember the game, the score, whatever may be,

(03:15):
as long as they got the three points. Coming in
September October, when it really comes down to crunch time,
it's you need to beat these teams that are in
the middle pack or lower end of the of the
standings to continue to move forward, and they did that today.

Speaker 7 (03:27):
Yeah, in a thirty four game season, you're gonna have
to manufacture some wins and find some wins.

Speaker 5 (03:32):
Seattle created a lot of chances.

Speaker 7 (03:34):
Killing's right that it was an exciting game in that regard,
and then how do we end up.

Speaker 5 (03:38):
Getting the win.

Speaker 7 (03:38):
It's a free kick into the box and what seemed
like a pretty benign or inadvertent handball.

Speaker 5 (03:44):
Referee calls it.

Speaker 7 (03:45):
Albert does a great job, is second PK of the year,
tucks it away for.

Speaker 5 (03:49):
A seventh goal, and we'll take the win.

Speaker 7 (03:51):
And now we got a San Diego team that thumped us, right,
so focus on that going forward.

Speaker 5 (03:57):
And this is how we started our last three three games.

Speaker 7 (04:00):
D right when we got the win on the first
of three, and now we win on the first of
this three, So let's keep going.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
By the way. For Albert Rusnak there, that's his twenty
fifth goal for the Seattle Sounders. He now becomes the
second player in Major League Soccer history to have twenty
five goals and twenty five assists with.

Speaker 5 (04:18):
Two different teams.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
He had, of course, he'll be forty one and forty
with Real Salt Lake. He now has twenty five and
way more than twenty five assists here with the Seattle Sounders.
What an excellent start to the year. Continuation of this
year for Albert Rusnak as he scores Seattle's penalty in
the eighty sixth minute to give them a one to
nothing win. Couple quick note Sounder fans, first, that sound

one Mile, one Ball program. We'll take a break here
on the postmatch show. We'll come back and have a good,
I think, discussion over who should be Man of the
match for the Seattle Sounders today. Also we'll get to
our play of the match might not be what you're expecting.
And then of course we'll preview San Diego coming up

(05:15):
here at home on Wednesday. Not happy hour game, it's
now your usual seven thirty. It's a five thirty game
on Wednesday against San Diego here. So we had kind
of brunch with the Sounders today. We're gonna have happy
hour with the Sounders on Wednesday. We'll talk about that
a little bit later on here. Kellen Union, I can't
wait for my outfit.

Speaker 6 (05:33):
I just tell them to say we have brunch here,
and I got my you know, my my como Federal
Way outfit on and then you know you got a
happy hour all. I can't wait to see hour count.
We're going corporate happy hour, We're going fun happy hour.

That's why we always played one nothing win today over
FC Dallas. For your Seattle Sounders today here at lumin Field,
Albert with the penalty kick in the eighty sixth minute
is what won the game for Seattle. It start time
for our Emerald Queen Casino play of the match. Not
gonna be the penalty kick. I think I'm commandeering the
choice for this and I think it's a good one.

(09:14):
Back In the fifty seventh minute, this match was zero zero.
Dallas was gaining confidence. They were getting ready to make
some big changes to give them even more confidence.

Speaker 5 (09:22):
In their attack.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
And it looked like they had an amazing chance in
the fifty seventh minute, but Stephan Fry said no ways,
all the.

Speaker 5 (09:29):
Looking voice, Romero strikes it.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
I want to save by Fry out of nothing, no
pressure on the ball, twenty five yards at Romero.

Speaker 5 (09:38):
Then it scuffed the shot. You almost found the box
in corn. It had to be a really good save
right hand by Stephan freyd great save.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Indeed, the Play of the Match is presented by Emerald
Queen Casino, the betting capitol of the Northwest. I mean
if that if that ball goes in and Fry again
had to dive to his right, kind of came out
of nothing, but keeps him out of the fact if
Dallas takes a one nothing lead with thirty minutes to go,
the sitting seven guys back and basically just saying we're okay,
just killing the game off defensively.

Speaker 6 (10:06):
Well, we talk about the quality that Stephan Fry has
had for now over four hundred games here in Seattle,
and he's been those guys that we almost forget how
good he is because he makes these saves continuously. But
once again Stephen Fry stepping up making sure that he
makes the save when the Sounders need it, and he
made sure it stayed zero zero when he got the
shutout for it.

Speaker 7 (10:25):
I agree with all of that, and he was really
on his players today because that shot, as you heard
Danny Jackson's call, it was uncontested, it was a free shot.
Steph comes up with a huge save. You want your
goalies to make one or two goals. Saving saves hopefully
won a game at least and if needed right and
he did that as well. But then he was all

(10:45):
over his teammates and it was great.

Speaker 5 (10:48):
At the end.

Speaker 7 (10:48):
Reid Baker Whiting went right up to him because he
took a ball that Steph wanted to pick up because
he wanted to kill a little more clock, and it
was cute to see the young twenty year old go
to the wiley old veteran who's almost double.

Speaker 5 (10:59):
His age just kind of say hey, I sorry, Sarah.

Speaker 7 (11:04):
Yeah, but Steph, you know, that's that's why he's got
foreigner games, that's why he's got the captain spand making
the play, but then also really getting after his teammates
on not allowing shots from Dallas at the edge of
the bucks because Jackson, you're right, they would have parked
the bus and that would have been very difficult.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
It would have Indeed, all right, let's move on to
the Toyota man of the match. Albert Rusnak has the penalty.
I know they named Albert Rusnak man of the match
here in the stadium. I'm common during this again, and
you guys can disagree or you can agree with me.
Christian roll Don today for his work in the middle
of the park, specifically his work on second balls, on
getting in the middle of Dallas attacks, on pass it.

(11:41):
Christian Rolldan today was an absolute iron man, a workhorse.
His work defensively and all across the midfield for me,
is why I give him the Man of the match.
Your local Toyota dealers are proud to present tonight's man
of the match. I'm giving it to Christian Roldan fair felt.

Speaker 5 (11:54):
It's fair.

Speaker 6 (11:55):
I think Christian had a really good game. I'm gonna
just real quick, there's an honorary captain for me or
an honorary player of the match. Is the person who
caught Albert roos next jersey and I actually returned it
to him because that would have been a great little souvenir. Right.
The twenty fifth goal just won the game. It's like,
I don't want to I don't want to get that
back to you, but he did. He gave it back
to him, and Albert was able to move on and
play this game. He imagine going down down to ten

(12:17):
men because Albert didn't have a jersey on.

Speaker 7 (12:19):
Well you know, after the game, Albert did run down
there and actually gave the.

Speaker 5 (12:24):
Good Well that's great.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
Really, sorry before you talking about Christian really quick as
the player and is the coach here while we're talking
about that. As the fan, I'm like Alibert. He scores
the penalty in the eighty six. He immediately takes his
jersey off, spins it around, throws it into the stands.
It's it's a yellow card, and I get you want
to celebrate the penalty, but I'm kind of saying it's
an unnecessary yellow player.

Speaker 6 (12:47):
Coach, Look, but it's it's the eighty six. It's been
an eighty seventh that he gets that goal, so there's
not much time left. He hasn't been on foul trouble.
He hasn't been on yellow car trouble. He hasn't been
into those things. What for me, as as a player,
I loved to it, right. It was my celebration as
a kid, was taking my jersey. I'll put it over
my head and run around like an airplane. But you know,
once that got banned or gave him a yellow card,
you had to stop. But for me, this shows the

(13:10):
emotion and the care that he actually has to score
these goals and these big moments and these big games
at home in front of his fans. He is now
saying I am a sounder like that is his emotion
coming out, and it's a positive emotion. Pete, Oh yeah,
good luck, good luck with that.

Speaker 5 (13:26):
Okay, fair enough, let me give you a fair enough
fair enough kid.

Speaker 7 (13:29):
But if Brian Schmetzer let me speak on me, have
a Brian Schmelzer.

Speaker 6 (13:34):
I'll I'll sit down and learn my lesson.

Speaker 5 (13:36):
Blah blah blah blah.

Speaker 6 (13:37):
Tell me tell me a story, grandad.

Speaker 5 (13:39):
Don't do that.

Speaker 7 (13:41):
If I'm Brian Schmetzer, granddad like, and Brian is gonna
take it with a grain of salt. But if he
gets to five and Kellen's right, he's not on yellow card.
He doesn't have a lot of yellow cards. But but
you know, Chew did it last year and then got
a second yellow and was red carded and that did
not go well, right, and so it I'm sure Brian

(14:02):
just says, please don't do that and worries about other things.
But I'll Kellen described it well, the emotion, the energy
and all that.

Speaker 5 (14:10):
But but no, don't do that, don't, okay.

Speaker 7 (14:12):
Because if he does have to sit out a key
game against Lak Sugar, that's problem.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
All right, But you go back to the good the
Christian word.

Speaker 5 (14:20):
Don maned the match fair, foul fair. I thought he
was really good today.

Speaker 7 (14:24):
You know, before the game we said we'd like to
see more diagonal balls because it.

Speaker 5 (14:27):
Unlocks the defense. It shifts the point of attack.

Speaker 7 (14:30):
Christian hit six of them today, which I've never seen
him hit that many, and there was it was contagious
because we end up with about nine where we changed
the point of attack, and I like to see that.
I think we are seeing Christian rol Don get even better.
And that's a tall wid Yeah, yeah, that's a tall
thing to say, but uh, the way he moves the
ball side decide. I mean, I think we saw it

(14:50):
with Ozzie just you know, the game slows down for
you at at some point, and I think, you know,
he had the run with the concussions, and I don't
think we knew how difficult that time was for him
as a player. But I think we're now seeing a
guy who's really confident.

Speaker 5 (15:05):
And by the way, he also stripped and picked off
a lot of balls today as well, so he's a
bit of a destroyer.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
In the middle of part, I might be about to
piss off some Sounder fans, but I'm willing to take
the risk because Christian rold On the best six we've
ever had here.

Speaker 6 (15:17):
Yes, Oh that's an easy one.

Speaker 5 (15:19):
You're everybody loves.

Speaker 6 (15:21):
Here's the thing for me is when when Dallas started
when anyone has been doing it right. When someone breaks
that line in that back you know, when someone's coming
out of our back line, who is the first person
that usually finds a way to slow the play down.
It's Christian Rolldan Yeah, and I will say he's learning
or he's teaching, and you see ovid now to start
doing as well.

Speaker 5 (15:38):
Right.

Speaker 6 (15:38):
The duo of those two has been probably the best
midfield we've had in years, if not ever. But for me,
Christian rolldon broke up plays like you said, he's stripping
balls and he is the first person to slow the
game down, which is what you want from a six. Defensively,
if you can get in front and slow it down
and allow everyone to come back, you are now in positions,
you have your blocks, and it makes it a lot

(15:59):
harder for someone to score. So any transitional moment, Christian's
the first one to be there.

Speaker 5 (16:03):
And that is a good six. With six assists, he
leads the team, yeah, with six assists. So I have
a hard time disagreeing with him.

Speaker 7 (16:11):
Kil and played with him, and I think that gives
you a bit of an edge, and you also.

Speaker 6 (16:17):
You know, but thankfully, thank Christian was on the right
side when I was playing because I allowed me to
be a six or a left back, so mostly the
six my first year. So thank you Christian for not
stealing my job right away. But no, I think, and
against Ozzie, he's just a different player. Yeah, right, Ozzie
was a different player, but he also played a different time.
We talk about in basketball that like you know, Lebron
and Jordan and what it would have happened if it

(16:37):
was older than the nineties. Lebron was in the ninety
or Jordan was in the.

Speaker 5 (16:40):
In the earlies.

Speaker 6 (16:41):
Now it's different, it's definitely different. But Christian I think
has the full package, while Ozzie had, especially in the
attacking piece. I think Christian's got the full package for me.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
You know, it's interesting because the obviously the fan debate
of who are the greatest sounders of all time? I
personally will always have right now, at least steph number
one on that list. For me personally, Nico is probably
a very very close second. But four hundred appearances, you know,
wins US twenty sixteen and all reasoning is side. I mean,
Christian Roldan for me, he's earning his way to number three.

(17:13):
And I mean, right now, being the player that he is.
I mean we once thought, Brian once thought that Christian
was a better player out wide. I think we are
clearly seeing Christian Roldan is best in this position, and
it's because he's grown into this spot. But Christian Roldan
today a deserving man of the match and we're just
seeing his growth continue. As you said, do so aptly

(17:34):
to improve and right now that partnership with him and Obed,
I agree. I think it's the best midfield pairing we've
ever seen in Seattle.

Speaker 7 (17:43):
Well, I do want to add Alan Hudson center midfielder
before your time, probably before you guys were born, Bruce
Rioch center back, Mike England center back for the Sounders,
We've had some tremendous Stevie Buttle was a phenomenal, skillful,
one hundred twenty eight pound guy.

Speaker 5 (18:01):
With great skills.

Speaker 7 (18:02):
So if you're talking MLS ERA and you're talking and
then throw those ones in, there's there's We've been really
lucky to see some phenomenal players.

Speaker 5 (18:12):
Come through this.

Speaker 7 (18:12):
But I do I think Christians getting better, and I
don't think I thought that until just thinking about it today,
and then then you look and six assists and and
plus he's a consummate pro. I mean Alex rolled on.
When I was coaching, he came into our locker room
before the an Oregon State game, I think, and and
it was a spring game, and so Alex talked to

(18:33):
the guys about what it was and he said, I
learned how to be a.

Speaker 5 (18:36):
Pro from my brother.

Speaker 2 (18:37):
Sorry, we went way over that. Mitchell, our board operator
is probably like Jackson, you want to take a break.

Speaker 5 (18:41):
We're way over.

Speaker 2 (18:42):
That was a great conversation. Sorry, Auzzie, but those are
our thoughts and I mean, listen, he just outstanding game

say by ducking or going around a crossing gate isn't
worth risking your life for. So next time you're buy

(21:48):
a track, play it safe. That way we all win.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
A message from sound Transit. Now back to Seattle Sounders
Sucker on Sports Radio ninety three point three kjr FM.

Speaker 2 (22:02):

And that came after a Sounders one nothing win. Here
today at lumen Field, where the sun is out, the

(22:24):
seagulls are picking up the stray food in the seats
and we're all going home happy one nothing winners after
an Albert Rusnak eighty six minute penalty kick. You know
that discussion of the greatest Sounders of all time went
all of those few minutes into the break. And it'll
be a fun conversation that can continue on as a
Steph's career continues in Christian Roldn's career continues. Fun conversation indeed,

(22:45):
But it's time to take a look at what's ahead
for the Seattle Sounders, and that's gonna be Wednesday night.
It's a happy hour game here at lumen Field, not
your normal seven thirty here at Luhman. It's gonna be
a five thirty kickoff, five thirty Robin and Swedish pre
mat show. We'll start at five o'clock. And that's not
gonna be here. It's gonna be over on our sister
station of Sports Radio nine fifty KJR am SO nine

(23:08):
fifty am five o'clock on Wednesdays.

Speaker 5 (23:11):
The pre match show five thirty kickoff. Folks. You can
also watch the.

Speaker 2 (23:14):
Match on MS Season Pass on the Apple TV app
and listen in Spanish language on l Ray thirteen sixty
and count it as Pete mentioned, it's a San Diego
team that beat us three nothing down there in their house.
We're gonna be looking for revenge.

Speaker 6 (23:26):
We're looking for revenge, and you're looking to build on
this performance. Like I said, it was an electric performance.
This was a lot of energy. You saw Ryan Kent
running up and down that line mate making a Booba car,
looked like he still on the plane.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
You called it and I did.

Speaker 6 (23:39):
And then you have Peter Deevega who looked a little
more energetic than normal. And so can you find these
guys feet again and let them run out and run
out and run out? Now, can we find the final product,
you know, Canejezus Ferira, find a way to get actually,
you know, get off the mark here in Seattle and
then find that goal in the back of the net.

Speaker 5 (23:54):
I think it's just a little bit.

Speaker 6 (23:55):
Unlucky at the moment, but we could put him in
front of goal and find the back of the net.
That's gonna be a positive. And obviously it's a very
good San Diego team this year. Can you find a
way to win at home?

Speaker 7 (24:04):
I've been really impressed with San Diego and right now
they're third in the table. So it we're fifth, We've
gone from six to fifth, so it's an opportunity to
climb a little bit, and more than anything for me,
it's redemption. And then it's also it's this three week,
three game in a week deal that Seattle's got a
mint master to really go where they want to go

(24:24):
for the whole year, and this would be I thought
San Diego was exceptional when we played them, the way
they played out of the back, the confidence that they
played out of the back. I mean they were playing,
they were playing balls the goalkeeper along the touch line,
the end line, you know, and to a player that
was standing two yards onto the field. They weren't playing
through the midfield right there, and they got out of trouble.

(24:46):
So that was a very explosive team and we owe
them and that matters.

Speaker 2 (24:50):
Well, we'll see what happens on Wednesday. Once again nine
am will have the game five o'clock Providence, Swedish prematch
show five point thirty kickoff Happy Hour game here on
Wednesday evening. Sounders and SANDYGFC one thing every with our
broadcast tonight. Mitchell blie Back, our technical director in the studio,
Terry Ryan here, our tech here on side Keey Dunning,
Jordan Thompson, our broadcast producers. A great goal today from

(25:13):
