is brought to you by Delta Airlines, proud to donate

players this season through Rave Foundations one Mile one Ball
program and by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Seattle
(00:21):
Sounders FC. The Sounders FC Postmat Show starts now.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
It's a final from Providence Park.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Seattle Sounders and Portland Timbers share the points Tonight a
one to one final from down there as Albert Rusnak
gets a goal in the thirtieth minute, Santiago moreno for
the Portland Timbers just six minutes after nothing in the
second half despite lots of chances, and we do end
one to one and the Sounders finish a three match
(00:50):
road swing over the last eight days with a one
to one to one record, winning at Houston, the loss
at LAFC, and tonight's draw at the Timbers. We welcome
you into the postmatch show Jackson Feltzpete Chance Fry here
for the next half hour or so as we break
down this game. Peter to start with you initial thoughts
on a game that saw lots of chances in the
last forty five minutes, but the score at the half
(01:11):
was the score at the end, one one entertaining game.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
I thought Seattle was the better of the two teams,
but not by a lot. I think we were a
chance just mentioned, and I think we were in there
attacking half creating chances more than they were in our
attacking half. They seemed to be more counter attack ish.
We had decent possession, some good chances. That final product
is what we keep talking about that we didn't quite
(01:35):
get to. And I thought, you know, it was a
good game. I think both teams can walk off the field.
They certainly gave everything they had to it. But I'm
a little disappointed. I thought the subs were great. I
thought when Rothrock came in he gave energy. Especially Georgie
was good coming in Pedro. Pedro had one ball that
I want him to have gone to the right instead
of gone to the left. He could have gone to Rothrock.
(01:57):
All the Portland defense had shifted and they could have
got a goal, you know, like eighty sixth minute, which
could have ice the whole thing. But I think Brian
will be somewhat okay with this. But you know, you know,
you just gave us the stats and we had six
shots on goal to their one. That is telling. I
think that tells the tale. But neither goalie had to
(02:17):
get extended for anything chance. I mean, it wasn't like
they had come out and get big make a one
on one. Neither goalie was really tested.
Speaker 5 (02:24):
Yeah, I would totally agree with everything you just said.
I think Brian's going to be maybe happy to get
the point, but also disappointed to not get the three points.
There were enough good opportunities that if we were a
little bit sharper, we could have gotten better shots on
goal and a little bit quicker play.
Speaker 4 (02:41):
You know.
Speaker 5 (02:41):
We let Portland get tucked in. Yeah, and it was
once they're back there, it's difficult to break a team down.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
They played with five at the back.
Speaker 5 (02:49):
And we did. We didn't really get in behind them
a lot, and we didn't have any real clinical shots
on goal.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
To be honest, there were moments, especially in that second half,
where you know, we can talk about two.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
Of them, and we will in a moment. But to
quickly go.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
Over it, since you reference the stats, Seattle outshot Portland.
It is final here confirmed thirteen to four thirteen shots
for Seattle four for the Timbers on target, Sounders had six,
Portland only had one. We also won in possession with
fifty three. A little bit better packating accuracy overall, I think,
especially in that last twenty minutes, the Sounders had the
(03:21):
foot on the gas and we saw that seventy third minute.
These are a couple of big chances that we've kind
of talked about, and we can kind of go deeper
into these. They're huge chance for Paul Rothrock on the
left side and he just isn't able to put it
in and there's kind of a scrum right in front
of that a left corner of the goal. And then
I think the most glaring one is the eighty ninth
minute where Pedro de Levega picks up a ball and
(03:43):
he has two runners off to his right and his left.
He has Albert off to his left, who he plays,
but he has Paul Rothrock off to his right, who
he doesn't play. He sends the ball to Albert, who's
in a little bit more traffic, but he slides that
ball to the right for Rothrock. Then Paul is one
on one with Maxim Cropo and Cropos probably saying oh crap.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
So you know, we look at those chances.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
But overall, you know, I think I think the question
to be asked here more than just those two plays
which we can talk about, is was this a fair
result considering that Portland also had some good chances throughout
this game.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
I have a tough one bias on that because I
wanted our guys to win.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
It's a good question of if it's a fair result.
Speaker 4 (04:25):
Yeah, if you're if you're unbiased, you might say yeah,
you know, but I think we had the better chances.
Georgie had a very good shot, uh when he got
in and it went to the near post and uh,
Craigle went down and did a good job to block it.
But if it gets off his foot a little bit quicker,
I think I think we created more of the chances.
But you I don't like the thing that we deserved
a goal. You have to earn a goal. You have
(04:46):
to do the job, you have to put it away.
You have to make sure that you know it's no
one deserves anything when in the soccer game, right, you
got to you gotta do it.
Speaker 5 (04:54):
I honestly I think it was fair. It wouldn't have
been fair if we were more clinical and their goalkeeper
was you know, playing off of you know, making a
ton of saves and all that. But no, we didn't.
That didn't happen. Yeah, so I think, yeah.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
That's a good point. You're saying that the great because
because he didn't have to make big saves or it
didn't hit a post, or we didn't get a bit
of luck. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (05:19):
Yeah, even though we had shots, I'm holding out my
hands shots they weren't. We weren't super dangerous.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
And it's close, but too because I mean, let's just
throw out a hypothetical world where Pedro does play Rothrock
in the eighty ninth minute and Krippoe comes up with
an incredible save to keep the ball out of the
back of the net, then we might be saying the otherwise.
But ultimately we didn't make the right pass. There was
a cross where Rothbrock has his head on it was
it Knew who sent that. I think it was New
who sent across in Rothrock has his head on the ball,
(05:46):
but it's just not enough of his head to put
it on on target and just redirects right past him.
So you know, it's just it's one inch here, one
inch there, not the right play here not the right
play there, and ultimately I agree with the chance. I
think it's it's a fair one one result. Still a
lot to break down from this game. An interesting discussion
ahead for the Toyota Man of the Match because I
think there's a lot of different places we could go there.
(06:08):
We'll also, of course get to our play the match.
You can probably guess what that'll be. Oh, take a
couple of quick notes here before we take a break.

to one.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
At Providence Park.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
Great job on the call from Danny Jackson and Brad
Evans Tonight it is Tome for Emerald Queen Casino. Play
of the match the Sounders lone goal tonight came in
the thirty I minuted a.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
Long ball from Christian Roldana.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Really a fantastic ball from rolled On, ends up the
foot of Danny Maczowski. Some good hold up play lays
it off to Albert Rusnak who finds the back of
the net.
Speaker 7 (10:12):
Top.
Speaker 13 (10:12):
He comes Musofski, He's got the run on Miller Bull
holds up top of the box.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
Now is Russnock can support. Kenchos right, strikes it and
his rough snack.
Speaker 7 (10:22):
He guys it in supports of corner and celebrates it
in front of the traveling sound of support.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
Providence Park is.
Speaker 7 (10:32):
Silent, the Sounders fans celebrate one nail Sounders.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
And the Play of the match is presented by Emerald
Queen Casino, the betting capital of the Northwest. It really
did silence the Timber supporters' chance. But I think overall
to talk about that play, it all starts.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
With the ball from Christian rolled on.
Speaker 5 (10:49):
Yeah, it was an amazing pass from Christian. Uh. Danny
makes a good run, holds up play. He kind of
gets held by the defender, falls over the ball a
little bit, but keeps hold of it. Did great and
then gets it off to Albert and Albert does a
great job. Albert knows exactly what he's doing there. He's
cutting inside and he's going to shoot through his legs.
He knows it before he does it, you can see that,
and he guides it in perfectly, just as Danny Jackson said.
Speaker 4 (11:12):
Smart play heads up play. He knew. I once played
indoor with Precki, and Precki would line up a defender
so that the goalkeeper couldn't see the ball, and then
he would roll it as slow as he could across
the goal line just to mess with the goalkeeper. And
Albert used that defender really well, because at first glance,
when I first saw it, I didn't think he hit
(11:32):
it very well, but he did. He hit it pretty well.
But he used the defender and Sermon's legs. Yeah, and
he knew exactly what he was doing, and that's quality.
He's been having a great year for us, and you know,
I like the trailer. Their goal was an Albert Russnet
kind of goal, by the way. It was a late
run marino into the box, and Albert's been doing that.
We didn't see that enough today and we didn't and
(11:54):
we didn't have many cutbacks when you think about that
right from the crosses right, and we saw Kent do
that earlier few games back, the last few games he's
been on. So but yeah, great goal from Albert Rusnak.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
So let's transition the conversation into the Toyota Man of
the match, and obviously there's an obvious one for Albert
Rusnik and and maybe it is him, but I think
there's a lot of other very good candidates. I have
somebody very specific in mind, but I'll start with you, guys,
and a chance, I'll start with you, then, Pete, who
would you nominate for your Toyota man of the match?
Speaker 5 (12:26):
Well, we've mentioned him, and I think that Missovsky did
a really good job of working hard up front holding
the ball, and I thought he had a good game.
If he would have gotten a goal, that would have
been even better, obviously, but I think that he had
a really good game. The other guy that late in
the game got forward, Knew who got some great crosses
(12:47):
in and some good quality crosses, better than than what
we see sometimes, and he really whipped him in with
bend and and with some pace.
Speaker 3 (12:57):
Okay, so we got I heard Mazovsky and here knew, Pete,
give me, give me one or two or three names.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
Well, I thought everybody was pretty good today. I thought,
across the board, the whole team, everybody did their job.
Alex was good, Christian was good a little bit, uh,
but so in this case, because it was even like
that for me and Missofsky was good, but he's got
to score goals, man. That's why we got him on
the field, right. I mean, that's how Chance was a
(13:23):
very good goal scoring. He had to score to you know,
be relevant, to stay in the game and keep going.
I and maybe Chance said it, maybe leave Danny on
a little longer because those topoken guys, those guys are
getting the right spots. They might need it in the
eighty ninth minute. But to answer the question for me,
I'd give it to Albert because he got the goal.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Playing interesting.
Speaker 3 (13:44):
Yeah, I'd like to nominate and at least talk about
the day from Kim Kihy and Frankly Yemar too.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
But I thought that both of our center backs I.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
Thought were very very good to a specific specific moments
where Kim stepped up and said, I'm going to you know,
stretch out and and and put my foot in and
in the way of a of a Portland attack if
they're trying to, you know, play a through ball.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
And I thought he stepped really really well today and made.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
A very a few very very important challenges to keep
Portland attacks from breaking. Overall, I also, you know, a
factor in the fact that he's he's come in and
he's just seamlessly integrated so well into this back line.
And you know, considering he hasn't been here a while,
He's still been playing obviously in the K League. But
I thought today he had a very very good day.
So he was the one name I really wanted to
(14:27):
throw for. I knew he probably you know, weren't going
to give him the award, but I do think that
that he's the name. The secondary name I had is
Danny Mazowski. These I did really like the hold up
play today. He did make some good runs. There were
a number of cases where we saw, all right, if
if you know, if there is a runner for Danny
to play, if they if Hazu's Frera was to make
a run, and we talked about this on the pre
(14:48):
match show. We said, all right, alex is gonna get up.
We need Hayes Who's to tuck in and make a
run of the box and go. And I just didn't
see that enough from Haysus Frerer in the first forty
five minutes. I need to see more of that from Ferreira.
And I feel like a couple of times where Mazoski's
playing that hold of them, and he's putting himself in
this great spot for somebody to lay it off to,
and there just wasn't that person there. Masoski was doing
(15:11):
his job and ultimately he does get the assist on
on the Russnat.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
Goal, which is a which is a very very good goal.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
But it's it's the hold up play, it's the runs,
it's stretching Portland defensively that I think gave Seattle a
bunch of chances. So that's that's what I would say
in that entire conversation. I'm not sure if anybody has
a response to any of that.
Speaker 5 (15:31):
I would like to agree with you on on kim Kihey,
because sometimes you know, we look at their their forwards
and we think, oh, they're not really doing anything. Well,
why aren't they doing it? Exactly because our defenders are
doing playing well. They're stepping up, they're getting in tackles,
they were winning headers, and they were stifling them before
they could do something. So I think that's a great
point with that, and I think Amar is in there
(15:52):
as well. I thought they did a good job in
the center. Actually, Alex and knew who I mean, they
all the back four actually played quite well today.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
Yeah, Alex got a lot of crosses in in the
first half. You knew who got a lot in the
second half, and the wingers weren't the guys getting the
crosses in and maybe they were pulling people wide. Uh,
you know what, kim Key, he has come in and
you're right, it's been seamless. The one thing that he
does do that people should watch is that he will
get stuck in in a tackle in their half and
(16:21):
oftentimes in their defensive third exactly, and that's what you
want from a defender. And honestly, it reminds me of
Dave Gillett and Mike England just a little bit of.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
A maybe a little Wade Weber.
Speaker 4 (16:31):
Oh yeah, yes, very much, a bit of way, but
actually a little more a little a little more elegant
than Wade Weber. Right, because the game has changed and
the and they're going right through somebody isn't appreciated by
the officials as much anymore. But yeah, it's it's one
of those where it's he gets he's silent, he doesn't
stand over anybody, pops right up and goes back.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
To where he's important.
Speaker 4 (16:53):
Time he gets stuck in. He did it with Marino
today and I agree, and it just sends a little
message that I am not afraid to go through. But
he doesn't do it at the edge of the box defensively,
which I'm very pleased about.
Speaker 3 (17:05):
But yeah, all right, well I think you know we're
doing this. I am thrilled that this is happening. Tonight's
Toyota and man of the match is kim kih your
logo Toylet Dealers are proud to present tonight's man of
the match. Just I think a fantastic game to defensively. Obviously,
Portland have the one goal. It's a good goal, but unfortunately,
if you kind of watch the play, I think al
(17:25):
Schuldn keeps him on side on that initial ball. So
I think I would just say that, but I think
that for defending, you know, I wouldn't.
Speaker 2 (17:34):
I wouldn't.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
I wouldn't poke anybody there. Really, I'm trying to find something,
but there's really nothing there. It's a really good goal
and it's well executed. It's very Russknack like, like we mentioned.
So I will just erase what I just said because
I think I think it's just a good goal for Portland.
Speaker 5 (17:48):
I'd like to look at it again though, because I
think right after the play was ending, ohbed is like
raising his hand like.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
Because he thought, yeah. I think that he didn't.
Speaker 5 (17:57):
Fallen asleep for half a second there, and I'd like
to look at it again. But there might be a
little bit of a mistake from a little bit there,
but I don't want to say it for sure, but
that's what I think I saw.
Speaker 2 (18:06):
Well.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
Ultimately, I think it was an overall very good game
by the center Backs. I would just edge it out
for kim Ki Heat just barely. But yeah, Sounders Pearland
Timbers one to one, final down at Providence Park. We'll

Speaker 3 (21:30):
Wrapping up the postmatch show here Sounders and Timbers even
one to one tonight at Providence Park. It as a
final and Sounders end up with this three match road
swing where they went to Houston, then went to LAFC
that went to Portland band of one to one and one,
which pleas for me going into the week.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
If you told me one on one on one.
Speaker 3 (21:50):
On that three match ruds ring, I would have absolutely
taken it four points out of nine on the road. Yeah,
I'm pretty happy with with how this week ended up
going for the Seattle Sounders, considering also no new injuries.
That's that's one of the most important things. Jackson Reagan
hopefully coming back next week for the next match. Jordan
Morris is hopefully on his way back as soon in
(22:10):
the next few weeks. But no new injuries out of
this three match road swing, So that's a that's a
very very big important part of it, especially since there
was a dangerous moment in the second half where Alex
roll Don went up and knocked heads. Yeah, it could
have been really bad, but but roll Don stayed in there.
He was the tough kid and the Sounders needed him
certainly down as they end up getting a one to
(22:31):
one result down there in Portland.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
I will say this season, when the.

Will have Sounders Weekly coming up on Wednesday at seven
pm here on Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM,
and that show and right now are going to be
previewing the new match, which is one week from tonight,
actually one week from this afternoon. Actually, because it's an
afternoon match at lumen Field, we're gonna have a late
morning pregame show. It is a twelve a clock kickoff
(23:14):
against FC Dallas Sounders FC Dallas at lumen Field, Providence, Swedish.
Prematch show will start at eleven thirty am, So I
guess late brunch with the Sounders there on Saturday morning,
twelve o'clock kickoff right here ninety three point three KJRFM.
Speaker 2 (23:31):
You folks.
Speaker 3 (23:31):
You can also watch the match on MLS Season Pass
on the Apple TV app and listen in Spanish language
on l Ray thirteen sixty. It's a Dallas team that,
you know, I think for the Sounders right now, it's
a Dallas team that's still figuring out who they are.
It's a Sounder team that is going to have a
full week off and some interesting questions, you know, coming
off of the rotation this week, Pete of do you
(23:52):
start now for sure? Ryan Kent over, Paul Rothrock, is
Pedro dale Vegan now gonna be the guy on the right.
So is the lineup for the Sounders now kind of
set in where it's you have Russknack in the middle
of Kent and dala Vega, with Mazowski up top, Christian Obed,
Alex Knew in the outsides of Jamar and kim Key,
(24:15):
he Stephen Fryan Gole. Right now, that would scream a
very obvious starting lineup. But maybe it's not that easy
for Brian Schmitzer. But but it seems like we've kind
of seen these three games who the quality players can be.
But maybe Paul Rothrock slides.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
Back in there. I don't know, Well, you know who
your goal is.
Speaker 4 (24:33):
You know you're back four, you know your middle two
with Christian and Obed, you know, Albert and Danny, and
then when Jordan comes back, we'll see how that shakes out.
I imagine that probably gets the nod to Jordan. But
the wingers. I like Ryan Kent. I didn't think he
was as active today. I thought Paul Rothrock really put
himself in some good spots, was creative, and he's got
(24:53):
a grit, you know, And that again I might have
said it. I think, you know, he probably wanted to
start this game, which would be three in a row. Well,
he's young enough and got enough grit and bite to
handle that. But I thought he did enough to be
in consideration over Ferrera over Pedro for starting on the
on the wing. So but that's coach's decision. Yeah, we
(25:14):
know most of them. But the question is the wars.
Speaker 5 (25:17):
Yeah, it is Brian's decision. But if I listen to
this show right now, if I were, if I were
in that group of players, I would feel very I
would feel very good that I had a chance to
take a position. There's still some positions to be taken
interested a seasonally. Well, the wide players, for sure, I mean,
(25:39):
we've got some very exciting players that can play out
right wide.
Speaker 4 (25:42):
We've got you.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
Know, right back, Koloni versus Alex should be I think
that's a battle.
Speaker 5 (25:48):
Yeah maybe, But I mean getting getting I mean the
thing that we were just talking about, and getting forward
and getting goals and getting goals consistently, which is going
to take us up the table and all that kind
of stuff. I think we've got you know, uh, Georgie,
and we've got Rothrock, and we've got Kent.
Speaker 11 (26:04):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (26:08):
You have to produce exactly.
Speaker 5 (26:09):
Well, That's what I'm saying is that everybody has the
opportunity once you start producing. And I can tell you
the person that's healthy and inform is the one that
Brian's going to be playing and starting.
Speaker 4 (26:19):
Yeah, if you're if you're getting your crosses in and
their quality. Yeah for me on the back the right,
Klawanne is I like him, colon Excuse I like him.
I think Alex has he has much more experience than much.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
I'm not saying it's like a fifty to.
Speaker 4 (26:34):
Fifty nice that you have him in case you need it.
Speaker 2 (26:36):
Yeah, Colonie, I think it is just pushing Alex.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
Yes, that's agreed.
Speaker 3 (26:40):
That's that's kind of the point I'm making, Like, just
like I think Georgie is pushing those other guys. I
think all of these are just position battles right now.
But to change, I think you make a really good point,
and I think it goes back to the pregame show
where we talked and it was you know, Ferrera was
my player to watch, and it's like, at some point, buddy,
I know you're getting some assists, but we brought you
into score goals and we haven't gotten the goals yet
from Hasu's Ferrera today, I need to see more runs.
(27:02):
When you talk in with Alex getting up the field,
and running into the box and being gold dangerous, and
I didn't see that enough from Hayesu's Ferrara. And it's
because of that and the lack of goal production that
you listen, I get it the deal to get you
here Seattle two point three million dollars. But right now,
I look at Peter Dale Levega, and I look at
Ryan Kent and what Ryan Kent has been producing over
(27:23):
the last couple weeks, and I say, I don't see
a spot right now for Hayesus Frera in the starting lineup.
Speaker 5 (27:28):
Yeah. I mean, it's difficult, and it's going to change,
and it's going to have its ebbs and flows, is
where how players are playing and everything. But I mean
when we're talking about the wide players now, but Jordan's
going to be coming back pretty soon, and as well
as Musovsky's playing, I would guess because of Jordan's status
and everything, He's going to be coming back and coming
(27:50):
into the starting lineup. The one thing that's exciting though,
if I was the coach, is that I've got two
players that can play that front position that are totally different. Yeah,
they're very different, and so you can play them in
different games, different ways and get two different results out
of them, and they can both be positive.
Speaker 4 (28:10):
Right, So yeah, yeah, get in hopefully you can get
Dave Rosario a little bit of a sniff and get
you know, he did so well with the Defiance team.
So yeah, it's an interesting scenario right now. For here's
the deal. Though, we're fourteen games in. Yeah, there's only
twenty games left. Yeah, I can't when I look and
(28:30):
see halfway there. Yeah, and Vancouver, by the ways on
thirteen games and they are top of the table big time.
But it's starting to get to that point where, like
I said, they know most of the positions and then
and it really does come down to I mean, you
and I played with together and we had a game
where we beat the Santos Earthquakes, but Chris Henderson was
(28:52):
behind me, ahead of me and Brango Le two national
team guys that were off with the national team. And
so the next game, because we you got two goals,
I got an assistant in a goal. Maybe we started
then I came out pretty quick for Chris, right, because
he is you know, Chris Anderson, right. But in other words,
coaches will reward success, That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (29:12):
Well, we'll see who Brian Schmeszer rewards next Saturday against
Dallas once again, noon kickoff eleven thirty pre game right
