(03:20):
here joining me right now, NathanBishop and let's see what's the uh.
Rupe Hints reclines his seat on flightsand talks on a speaker phone in public.
That's our other guests today, alsoknown as Chris Crawford, the bitter
cracking fan today, who's hating onrupe Hints? How are you, Chris?
Well, I'm not great, um, but other than I'm better than
that rude stuff that rupe Hints does. This was told to me. I

(03:44):
wouldn't make this up that would beinsane to do. But I'd be remisced
if I didn't mention just how muchfun it was to watch these cracking over
these last month. Man. That'sthat's what it's all about. And hopefully
we get to see Seattle do somethingsimilar in about four months. I hope.
So only the ninth game seven inSeattle sports history, Wow, that's
it, the seventh previous we're allsonics, and then two for the kracking.

(04:09):
Mariners have never had a seventh gameplayoffs, so it was historic in
a lot of ways. It wasa lot of fun. And uh yeah,
we've we've spent some time talking aboutthat today, but I need you
guys to fill us in on whatthe hell's going on with our baseball team.
And Nathan Bishop, I'll start withyou, sir, because pitching seems
good. Hitting is back and forth. But when you have, you know,
a great pitching staff, good thingsare happening. Yeah. I think

(04:30):
that the thing I wanted to talkabout is everybody knows that well. I
think there were some Chris and Iwere talking before the season started. There
was one publication of note that Ithink had the Mariners ranked at something like
the eighteenth best starting rotation to jointo start the season. I think that
they're exceeding that expectation, and Ijust wanted to give some context for thus
far how they're doing that. Weuse FAR or I do a lot on

(04:50):
this show just because it's a handyand easily trackable metric. Right now,
the Seattle Mariners pitching is leading MajorLeague Baseball in FAR. There's ba a
gap between them and the second placeteam, the Minnesota Twins, as there
is between Minnesota and the tenth placeteam, the New York Yankees. And
I'll just go a little step furtherthan that right now because I did a
little research, because you know,I really care about this show, and

(05:13):
I'm professional, and I really wantthe highest quality information for us and all
our listeners. I went back tothe expansion era and checked expansion eras nineteen
sixty one, so we're talking sixtyplus years of baseball. The highest pitching
far by a team since nineteen sixtyone is the two thousand and seventeen Cleveland

(05:33):
at the time Indians now Guardians thirtypoint four. Right now, the Seattle
Marriers pitching is on pace to producethirty five point two FAR, which is
one hundred and sixteen percent of that. They are on pace to be the
best pitching of the last sixty yearsby a lot. So if that keeps

(05:54):
up, I think that I'm feelingpretty good about where this team is headed.
We will see. Yeah, Imean those are numbers are impressive,
But I've got to talk about mybig, sweet, big dumper. Like,
I don't think we appreciate this guy. I'm very uncomfortable, by the
way. I don't know about you. I'm very uncomfortable at this point.
I'm always uncomfortable. It is whatit is, folks. Look, we

(06:17):
have a borderline star behind the plateand it is not talked about enough.
Look, he got talked about abunch when he hit the one of the
biggest hits in Seattle Mariner history. He don't get me wrong, But like
you, look at what he's doneover the last couple of years, and
he's on pace for about a fourto five win season. Again, Mariners
don't have a whole heck of alot of those behind the plate. And

(06:39):
a switch hitting backstop who isn't gettinga chance to hit a lot from the
right side, to be fair, but to have that and to have a
quality of defender who has been oneof the better throwers in baseball this year
too, in a time where stolenbases are very difficult to stop. We
got to appreciate this guy. Man. We talk a lot about Calna.
Can we talk a lot about Huiowhen we should? And I'm not even

(06:59):
saying cal Ali should be in thatconversation, but he is a foundational piece
and we don't talk about him asa foundational piece enough. I am just
here. It's easy to do afterhe just did something that no one in
Fenway Park has ever done for acatcher, hit home runs from both sides
of the play. It's easy tobe appreciative after that. But we should
appreciate cal rally because he is abig part of what they're going to be

(07:23):
doing for the next few seasons.Jason Varitek was a switch hitter, right,
Yeah, Yeah, he's an amazinghe was a Mariner. Actually wants
people kind of forget that. Ithink no one, no one's forgot,
no one, no one has forgottenNathan. I was just confirming he wasn't
need a switch hitter that played alot of games, a lot more games
at Fenway Park than a big dumperdid along the way. We'll come back

(07:45):
the offensive. Second, I'm gonnago back to the pitching, Chris,
I'll start with you, Nathan jumpin after. What they're doing pitching wise
historically is as Nathan just pointed out, and they're doing without Robbie Ray.
How Man, it's so impressive,Like George Kirby is building into like a
legitimate ace from what I have seen, like even yesterday where he didn't have
his best stuff and he did scattereight hits. He is able to make

(08:09):
key pitches at the top of thezone as well as any pitcher in baseball
right now. Guy with a fortyone to four strikeout to walk ratio,
which is just stupid. But youlook at these guys and it's like forty
one to four, fifty two tonine, fifty four to nine, whatever
the heck. Bryce Miller's is eighteento one. These guys pound the strike

(08:30):
zone and can miss bats doing it, and it's such an impressive thing.
And here's the crazy thing. Thispitching is so impressive. With Marco Gonzalez
having a mediocre season and Logan Gilbert'sbeen kind of hit and miss, there
have been some amazing starts like theperfect game that he took into the seventh
or eighth inning or whatever the heckit was. And then there's been some
starts where he gives up four runsin six innings like this group, and

(08:54):
it's not just like good results. You watch these guys pitch, the process
of watching him, the test ofwatching these guys. These are legitimate top
of the rotation type of arms.As frustrated as we could be about this
offense, oh and we should befrustrated about this offense. You should be
equally excited about this pitching because it'sgoing to keep you in ballgames every single

(09:15):
night. Yeah, And I thinkthe thing. I know that I got
the negative reputation here, but believeit or not, more offseasons than not,
I will have somewhere between one andfive beers in like a cold February
morning, and I'll look at mywife and I'll say, you know what,
I think this is the year theMariners are gonna put it all together.
And she laughs at me and says, you say that every single year,
blah blah blah blah blah. Butwhen I say that, it's because

(09:37):
in the dead of winter you havea vision for how this team will play,
and the pitching is exactly what thatbeer soaked vision in February is come
to life. They're pitching just likethe best case scenario. You think we've
got four aces, Well, that'sexactly what it feels like sometimes through this
rotation with Castio and and I knowMarcos, Marco's being Marco, but honestly

(09:58):
he's just soaking up any As thenumber five starter, they could do way
worse than the back end of thatrotation. This top four, Like Chris
already said it, I don't havethe exact numbers in front of me.
I think the whole top four ofthe rotation is something like a seven to
one strikeout to walk ratio, whichis just obscene. The whole pitching staff
is walking fewer batters per nine thanany team in Major League Baseball. They're
striking out guys and then they Imean the way that they have. If

(10:22):
you told me the Diego Castillo wasin Triple A and Andres Munos had barely
pitched this season, I would tellyou that I think that this bullpen is
in big trouble, and they justkeep bringing in new guys, whether it's
Gabespi or justin Tobo. We've alreadytalked about them. They just come in
and fit in seamlessly, and Ifeel like I'm gushing, but like this
is a theme we've been talking aboutforever. This organization kicks ass at pitching

(10:43):
development, and it's really saving theirbacon because the other half is a generously
a mixed bag. Nathan Bishop,Chris Crawford's money by SI dot Com Mollywop
fifteen, Mollywop fifteen a checkout foryour discount. Well, your reputation for
being negative guys coming to an end. I mean, we live in a
world where the Crack had just playedfourteen playoff games in their second year,

(11:05):
and you started off on molly WapMonday on a Tuesday, by the way,
at two o'clock with a positive thoughton the Barnes's pitching staff. So
I don't know who you are.I'm very, very uncomfortable with. But
well, let let me pipe inand just say that it has taken one
hundred and sixteen percent, sixteen percentbetter than the greatest pitching in the last
sixty years to get them to aresounding twenty one and twenty record to start.

(11:28):
Why is that? Why is thatthere may or may not have been
some issues with how this lineup andpositional group of players has been constructed.
I think you can make a caseif there's some bad luck and some regression.
Company and big dumpers certainly regressed inthe good way yesterday. I agree
with everything Chris said. If youlook at Rally's numbers right now, they're
basically identical to last year. Atthis point, his rates, his wOBA,

(11:50):
everything is just all on track fora repeat. But you've still got
giant holes in this land up inthis roster. It was so funny to
watch them pop for ten runs yesterday, and then you still see somebody like
Colton Wong putting up an over fiveand it's been so long for him now,
And our sample size is not small. And yes, a player like
to Asker Hernandez could just hit sevenhome runs in two weeks or something like

(12:13):
that and totally fix this. Butthere are two to three spots in this
lineup that are going to drag thisoffense down. And you're basically depending on
Jared kill Nick to not come downto earth, cal Rawley to keep up
what he did yesterday, and HuluRodriguez bounced back to just try to carry
them towards respectability, because this thefurther we get into this season, guys,

(12:35):
the more of this past offseason, which we hammered to death, just
looks awful because even a B minusoffseason and this team is probably a world
a legitimate ale contender and World Seriescontender. Chris or should I call you
rupe hands for clients in a seaton flights and talks on speaker phone in
public. What's the biggest concern youwould have with the offense then rupe for

(12:56):
short. By the way, youcan just call me that it's the bottom
of the lineup still, I meanColton Wong if you just calculate it out
and go by he puts up thissame amount of war for the next three
quarters of a season is going tobe like a negative four player, which
is like historically almost unheard of,and it speaks to how bad he's been

(13:20):
on offense and how bad he's beendefensively as well. Yeah, the depth
is not good on this team, folks. You can have the general manager,
assistant general manager, traveling secretary, whoever the heck you want on and
tell me that they were proud ofthe depth of this team if they are,
we just have a strong disagreement onwhat actual depth is. Like Colton

(13:43):
Wong at this point is a badbaseball player, and he's someone I think
you have to look it upgrading. He's been better as of late, but
that's not good enough. Like betterthan one of the worst players in baseball
history, which we's unpaid for atone point, is not good enough.
You have to have some sort ofsemblance at the bottom of the lineup of

(14:03):
quality. I do want to saysomething real quick, because we didn't get
a chance to talk about it.I love the new lineup. I love
what they have done, moving JulioRodriguez into the third spot and Keelnik into
the fourth and vice versa, dependingon what type of pitching they have,
and moving JP Crawford to the topof the lineup, because look, do
I think JP Crawford's gonna keep thisup all the year? I do not.
But is he the best option forthe leadoff spot right now? Oh?

(14:26):
You better believe it. Man.He gets on baits and he has
tough at bats, He fouls offpitches, He gives guys a chance to
see what that pitcher is going tothrow. Like look, yesterday. You
take a look at the offense. They really stunk for the first four innings,
but they got a chance to seewhat HOWK throws and took advantage of
it. And one of the reasonswas because Crawford had not a success at

(14:48):
his first couple of bats, Butyou got a chance to see that stuff
and then they jumped on it.It's a huge thing to have that at
the top of the lineup. Ultimately, Julio, I think is a great
second or first hitter because he's JulioRodriguez and he can do whatever the heck
he wants. But I like thislineup now, and I like the chance
for Julio Rodrigue is to hit withsome traffic on bass as well. Nathan,

(15:09):
you like the line up right now? Sure, it's been better.
I think that it's it's funny andit's amusing that apparently all Major League Baseball
pitchers got together and do like somesort of like first quarter of the year
prank or like, wouldn't it befunny if we took a hitter like JP
Crawford who has a three fifty sevencareer segging percentage and just didn't throw him
strikes for an entire quarter season, since that's basically what's driving his And credit

(15:31):
to JP because he always grinds outat bats, but it's just been hilarious
to watch pitchers not be able tothrow this guy a strike for forty one
games. But it's definitely better.There are fewer holes. It's I don't
know why. I feel like italways takes us a month and a half
to burn through. Uh, youknow the Tommula Stella's in order to like
start trying to actually put together amajor league line up. But the Marriers
are slowly assembling a lineup that Iwould consider to be a passable major league

(15:56):
lineup. It's still not good enough, and I think that it's interesting.
We'll talk about this. I'm suremoving forward they're gonna have to upgrade it.
Chris already said they're going to.And the track record of this,
uh, this front office with acquiringoffense a full stop, not to mention
mid season offense is um It's it'sa mixed bag. Again. If I'm

(16:17):
feeling generous, I guess I'm feelinggenerous today. It's a mixed bag that
they're well Peter Peter Gallant's tweeted todaythat Jerry will upgrade the offense, so
sure, I'm sure he'll try.I like that he threw in that the
Mariners have never won a World Serieslike that has anything to do with Jerry
Depotto acquiring an offensive player. It'salmost like he just threw that in there
because he's a Boston Red Sox fanand isn't happy that they lost ten to

(16:40):
one yesterday. Um, thank him. If we're saying mean things, can
we just say the Mariners have neverwon a seven game series? Did you
guys know that? Yeah? Nevernever never been, not not even just
a game seven. They've never evenwon a game, won a seven game
series anyway, started to distract usfrom the good vibes that we're feeling today.
What would let me uh naf aBishop Chris Cropper bought you BUYO the
simply at simply dot com. Iwat fifteen at checkout. Raise your hand

(17:03):
if you want to go first withthis? What would what would an ideal
lineup be right now for Seattle?Like, what would the ideal lineup be
like a players they currently have ontheir roster? Yes? Yeah, I
mean I agree with what Chris said. Chris already kind of talked about it,
so I guess I'll lead off.I like JP in the first,
I agree with everything he said there. I love Hulo. In the second,

(17:26):
I think that I might look atgetting We haven't talked much about this
ao Hino Suarrez just a spot ortwo lower. It was great seeing him
hit a home run yesterday, buthis power outage this first quarter of the
season is hugely concerning because this isa guy whose entire offensive contribution is that
he hits the ball very far,and he just has not been doing it.
He's kept from being a black holebecause he's been playing a really good

(17:48):
third base this year, which isgreat. It's kind of the old like
late career Kyle Seeker profile right now, which is funny for how how much
a lot of people turned on Kyleby the time he left. But I
think that I want to see Suarezdown a little bit more, just because
he's not hitting the ball as hard. The problem is who do you bring
up there? And I think you'rejust gonna end up doing what they're kind
of doing now, which is relyinga lot on Jared kell Nick and Julio

(18:11):
Rodriguez. I would say I loveseeing Taylor Tremel in the lineup. I
don't want to see AJ Pollock gettingstarts against right handed hitters anymore. That
needs to stop. There's no reason. Just keep Tamella that just keep Tremella
there that anytime they're facing a righthanded hitter. I mean excusing right handed
pitcher. I don't see why aJ. Pollock should be do you do
you agree with that? Chris?I see you not yet absolutely, And

(18:32):
look part most of it is defensively, Like Taylor, Tremell is just a
much better defensive player than AJ Pollock. And look, Trammell is a flawed
offensive player. There's a lot ofswinging miss but I do think he has
more upside in that result. Iwanted to say one thing real quick.
The reason why I like Julio hittingthird and thy France hitting second is ty
France might be the worst based runnerin baseball and might be the slow base

(18:56):
runner in baseball. And if you'regonna have that flip, let's say that
Julio Rodriguez does ground out into afielder's choice. I'd rather have it having
Julio getting out or being on firstbase instead of Tay France being on first
base. Because that can make ahuge difference. The fact that TI like
anytime Julio Rodriguez is actually on base, he can give you a run from

(19:18):
first base. No matter what happens, he can either still two bags or
he can score from first on adouble. Tay France, You've got to
go station to station to station tostation. He is impossibly slow. And
that is the one thing that Idon't like about Juli Tay France hitting after
Julio Rodriguez is the fact that ifthey switch, it is a borderline momentum

(19:38):
changing play. I am glad Idon't have to watch that right now.
If I'm being completely honest with you, all right, I want to add
one more one. I want toadd one more thing to the lineup.
I just I really hope that DylanMoore. It sounds like Dylan Moore is
close to getting back. I reallythat will solve at least part of the
second base problem, because they needDylan Moore is not just a personile defensive
player. If you look at it, that guy gets on bass, he

(20:00):
can walk, and they desperately needsomething better out of the second base position.
And even if it means you're havingto start him against some right handed
hitters. I mean, he cannotbe worse than Colton Wong has been this
first quarter of the season. Andlike Chris said, the numbers for Wong
are a little bit better. Butman, that's mostly just groundballs finding holes,
broken bat bloopers, finding some outfieldgrass. He has not played like

(20:22):
a major League baseball player the firstquarter of this season. All right,
gentlemen, next week because Rupe andcompany have a limited the crack and we
are back to our Molly Wap mondaysas opposed to a Tuesday, back on
the regular schedule, back to allowingfor Dick Fain to take a listen on
his way to work on a Mondayand quote beat his head against the wall,

everything I had today. Did youknow what Colton? You did? All

The NHL. All right, weshould get to text four four five

(24:07):

I got a little bat. Ido miss Anders. I love having
him on the show, but Ido like pushing the muttons. Everyone's coming,
Okay, Okay, people tell meI'd like to push button. I
I was gonna leave that one alone. Leave I can cell phone sometimes.

(24:32):
All right, what do we got? Do you want to start? You
want me to start? I canstart. Go ahead, as I always
love Keith Miller and the two fivethree baseball off season is hot stove,
his hockey season, our hockey offseason. The meat locker. I don't
know what we call that. Bythe way, Jesper Froten just released by
the Cracking today, so oh,it's already happening. It's just already going

(24:56):
on. So yeah, what shallwe call it? I don't know what
it's called? Hockey? Let me, I'll ask some of the nerds I
do stuff with up in Vancouver.I do like the meat locker. That's
fun. Okay, we'll keep thatone in the back pocket. Um,
the two us success for those ofus in the back. What does molly
wap meat? It's based so itstarted. It means you crush a baseball

(25:19):
like you molly wopped it like calRally molly wopped a home run yesterday?
Right, Julio home run in Wherewas the Julio home run? A couple
I guess side of the plate.Yeah, it's it's like you molly wopp
them, like just absolutely cover it, hammer it, smash it, you
know, Bucky Jacobson style back inthe day. Whatever. But yeah,
that's that's a Molly Watt that thatball was Molly wat Do you know where

(25:41):
that originated? I'll have to lookup the entomology of it. But you
know what, reach out to Christand those guys that, oh, yeah,
they're the ones that came up withthe name. So they're probably listening
and they'll probably test they've done theirpart of the show. They're probably we're
done with this. We're good.Yeah, that's what I mean is the
mally yeah that we had. Wehad to come up with a name for

(26:02):
the show when we started decided todo that, after we had them on
for the very first time, wesaid we want to do this more often.
And so once we decided to dothat, and we had to come
up with the name of the show, and yeah, we came up with
molly Wap one days, which sometimesI love it. Sometimes we're on Tuesdays,
so you know what, those guysare flexible and we appreciate it all
right. Two five three. Inreference to the Molly Wap. These guys
are making it sound like hitting andgetting on base are important. I thought

(26:26):
just whipping and everything to drive herhome or was the best? No.
No control the zone, man,Let's control the zone. Control the zone,
another one of my favorites. Fourtwo five. I imagine where we
would be if we had an averageoffense with this historical pitching staff, we'd
be up there close to I'm notgonna say it well. I thought it

(26:49):
was an interesting conversation today with thoseguys. I was kind of waiting to
see where they were going to go. And as I told them when we
were happy when we had them on, I said, like, I need
you guys to help me out becauseI've been like they've just been so like
either we've been covering a cracking homegame or working late at the TV's.
I just haven't watched a ton ofMariners like I usually do, and in

(27:11):
this time of year, I mean, it's just it's kind of usually the
only thing going on, and it'skind of been on the back burner.
So I was like, one ofthese guys are going to be positive or
negative? Where are we going tobeat with this thing? They just want
a series in Detroit and now theywant a first game in Boston. How
we feeling? And it was Iwould say it was a a somewhat encouraging
and positive mollilop. Not one hundredpercent, but somewhat I think critical and

(27:34):
fair, but encouraging. Well,it's part of it is is beating on
something that they've been beating on fora while, which is, you know,
the offense, the lineup. Theyjust haven't liked the lineups since the
offseason. They haven't liked the lineupsin spring and normally today included. When
they don't like the lineup or they'recritical is something they usually have some numbers

(27:57):
to back it up, which theydid. So then you know they the
pitching staff, as they said,is so you just don't want to waste
that kind of pitching, right likeright that the pitching is probably going to
get better when they get Munos offthe d L, assuming that happens.
Hopefully. We kind of jinked him. He's on our show, and then
you know what did we do?I love that kid, We have sus

(28:21):
love him. He's probably not goingto come back. Oh no, no,
Shelby Harris, friend of the Show, not coming back. Oh,
Jefferson, friend of the show notcoming back. Oh wow, I feel
a trend here, Jess. I'mnot asking anyone to come on this show
anymore. We'll never have a gueston again. But yeah, geez,
stay away from this one. Seven. Get Julio on. I think he's
sticking around. We are hot Lava, Marcus and the two h six In

(28:45):
reference to Molly Wapp, it's beenaround for a while. I heard it
first on The Fresh Prince of belAir. What I feel like, I've
watched every episode of that glorious show, and I don't recall here. Did
you watch Blossom afterwards? Was thatthe order? I think it was?
You know what, I only rememberthe order of the TGIF shows. I
think it was. I think itwas Fresh Prince and then Blossom. I

(29:11):
definitely watched Blossom, but I didn'twatch all of them. Yeah, yeah,
I like six. What was Thursday? So it was our Friday Friday
night, Thank goodness, it's Friday. It was um full house family Matters,
step by step, and then therewas a fourth show and they rotated

(29:34):
around but anyone knows. And thenit finished off with like a rousing episode
of Death in Destruction with twenty twentyafterwards. Yeah, it was actually I
remember the triangle noise like it wasa big Triangle Loong the Thursday. So
you guys should have Colton Loong onyour show Asaph. Yeah, it's like,

(29:56):
guess, really, who do youwant to get rid of? And
Jess will schedule that person for aninterview on our show and that person will
then be gone. I am thedeath now four nine five one. Well,
p York Strands coming back, Ithink should be right, yes,
yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, we can take all of her right,
Okay, it's still good. It'sstill good, said, you know,

(30:18):
we're not kidding everybody out of here, but yeah, Colton, Yeah,
don't tell the Mariners. Why butColton Wong. Jamal Adams on the
show says the two and Perfect Strangerswas at the other show, Perfect Strangers
that was on. That was likeearly on, early on, I think
I was really little. People arebeing oh Boy meets Worlds. Yeah,

(30:45):
everybody everybody, Oh my gosh,I want her. But I was like
everyone liked to pan oh. Shewas just the most lovable two five three
in reference to what Um intent toCoupo said earlier. Um in regards to
failure. I don't really like whathe said. I like the spirit of
his quote, but failing is anecessity in order to gain knowledge and grow.

(31:08):
You can't grow throughout life without failing. And I do agree with that
to an extent. But you can'tcall something a failure. Uh, just
because you lose a game. Iunderstand failure makes you stronger and you learn.
I'm sorry, I'm distracted by everybodytexting and they want Jamal Adams on
the show. Oh I like Jamal. I might be maybe I'm in the

(31:32):
minority like people. People are askingfor some of our teammates. I know
I'm not going to rename the nameson the air. Oh, Save by
the Bell was on tg if.I didn't know that. Wait, wasn't
no Save by the Bell is aSaturday morning thing? It was? It
was, yeah xt all, Ohgosh, can we get my wife on

(31:55):
the show? Someone I will notsay who that's from. Uh, let's
see I get the wife on sure? Uh? Yeah, yeah, sad
that. I want to see LeahHexel on her Betty Page hairstyle and giant
microphone. Does she have a BettyPage hairstyle? I don't know who Betty
Pages yeah, but oh yeah, you know what she kind of does.

(32:15):
Um, it's very distinct hairstyle. And I'm never going to criticize someone for
their look. No, but Iwould not say that she's has a dark
kind of vom bangs. Look,I think that's what that was. So
oh okay, yeah, well thatthere you go, and you know the
blunt cut bob thing going on.I yeah, but no, she She
isn't my favorite reporter. I've heardJames says hanging with mister oh yeah,

(32:40):
yeah, that was definitely just teenyears apparently, is what we're doing right
now. So hey, look,I am loving this right now. People
know more about this than they've textedin about baseball or Rockey. Yeah,
a lot of Jesse Winker. Wedon't need to have Jesse Winker on the
show. He's already gone. Whatdo you guys want to come on?

(33:00):
Ye oh wait, don't we havesomething to give away based on where you
are? We do? We do? Indeed? Good call. We've got
two four packshnsaurs? What what dinosaurs? What about dinosaurs? That was the
show that was on TGIF. Okay, you've given me like nine shows and
there's only two hours of tgif Iknow, but it was, like I

(33:21):
said, it was a rotation throughoutmy formative years. Okay, dinosaurs,
that was a that was a goodone. I had a crush on Robbie
and he was a dinosaur. Whatwas the basketball show that Anthony Anderson was
on on Saturday Morning? Is afterSaved by the Bell? Remember that one?
Oh? Was it when the girlwas on the varsity pit team?
Oh my god, like the bestplayer on the team and all that.

(33:43):
Yeah, Yeah, that was thatshow. Oh it was. I watched
it. I just forget the nameof it. Yeah, because it was.
I mean, that was a goodshow too. That was too um
all right, everyone throwing out bothTV suggestions and who we should have on
the show, because every time wehave somebody on, it's pretty much destined
to leave Seattle and stop texting inhosts on this radio station and me,

(34:07):
all right, I'm already on.I'm here, you know. Are you
gonna be on your show? Yeah? I'm gonna be on my show.
For nice. You should be onyour show and then you'll leave. To
four nine four five one is thequestion we're gonna ask to give away two
four packs of tickets for tomorrow's Gamefour. Here's the Showwear Center sealth fidibers
dot com for ticket information. Sanonalthennibersdot com ticket information. But if you
want to go to game four tomorrowfour nine four five one. Two words.

(34:29):
When we give away hockey tickets, really almost anything on this show,
we ask you to text in twowords they ring true. Four nine four
five one. We'll give away notone, but two four packs of tickets
to come to the Showwear Center tomorrowto watch Seattle and Winnipeg Game four of
the WHL Championship Series. Game three. It's to night there art tickets bibble
Saantalthnibers dot com four nine four fiveone. We'll check in with Softy next.

(35:00):
All right, we head down touh beautiful Pierce County just about probably
fifteen twenty twenty minutes from here.I'm at the show where Saturday South the
Mall are getting ready for his showat the Emerald. Queen God, that's
right, yes, that's right.I forgot that you were there and almost
my neck of the woods today.I should have come over and said,
he your golf clubs right up thestreets. Thank god, I can there

(35:23):
and say that you're Dave Mahler andthey'll throw your ass out of there.
They know you, uh, theyknow you well from what I understand,
so they're not going to be bythat stuff. So hey, can I
just say something to you? Surereal quick before we get going? Okay,
not that you would say, no, I have something more important to
say I do. By the way, hang time was the other show we
were talking about, But then goahead, hang what was the context of

(35:45):
that. Chess was going to hershows that she watched and then the Saturday
shows back in the day? Okay, gotcha. By the way, did
you guys ever eat at TGI Fridayas the restaurant? Uh huh when they
had the buttons and all that stuff. I think I ate it. I
think I ate one in an airportwithin the last couple of years. Yeah,
there was one in Kirkland, uh, downtown Kirkland by Peter Kirk Baseball

(36:08):
Stadium by the movie Theater. Yeah, that we would go to all the
time, and I was bummed whenit shut down. Yeah, I just
thought i'd share that way. Iwant to say, there's still one in
the Detroit airport, but yeah, okay, I've been to one recently.
Anyway, continue, I was bummedabout last night, man, bummed out
that the Cracking lost. And I'msitting there watching that entire game with Gina,

(36:29):
which my wife and I have watchedmore hockey games in their entirety in
the last three to four weeks thanwe have in our lives combined, and
that's like ninety three years combined,by the way. Between the two of
us, and when the game isover, we look at each other and
we're like, oh, that kindof sucks. We're bummed out, man,

(36:49):
Like, what are you gonna donow? Am I a hockey fanned?
It? Am I just a Crackingfan? No? I Well,
listen, are you gonna watch anyof the next series? Uh? You
know what? I might be toobummed out? Yeah, Like when the
Seahawks lose in the playoffs the verynext week is kind of a bummer for
me. You're like, you're notinto watching the next because they're not there.
Now. I may watch the RoundDaft for that or the roundaff for

(37:10):
that, but the very next weekthere's always a little bit of residual bummer
going on there, if that makesany sense to you. So, you
know, look Vegas, Dallas,Carolina, at Florida. We'll see,
but Stanley Cup Finals absolutely for sure. Yeah, Dallas and Vegas is going
to be a sensational series, likeit is going to be a sensational series.

(37:34):
It has become. And I thinkthis is we talked about. You
and I talked about this. Iknow Jess and I talked about it going
into the playoffs, Like you getto these things that we're so not used
to having for the last you know, two decades, a seven game series,
and it becomes such a fat andthe best ones are right now,
right, Like all due respect,if you get a seven game series of
baseball, well that's cool and you'reloving it, but it's also you're trying
to fit football into right, it'sOctober, right, and but these ones,

(37:59):
like it's become a fabric of whoand what you are every day for
the last month. Now for sure, I need to be a buy a
TV or at the rink by fiveor six o'clock. And now there's this
big hole, the big gap inthe world, and it's I'll be honest
with you, man. We gotoff the air at three fifty five yesterday
from CPA. I got in acar traffic stunk. Are to stop by
QFC. I'm online, it's takenforever. I'm getting pissed off thinking I'm

(38:22):
gonna miss face off, Like, what the hell is happening to me?
Man? This is crazy. Andthen they heard Jessamin talking on the air
about the buzz around Climate Pledge Arena. You were talking, jess about the
the the buzz, the restaurants, the bars, all that stuff. Yeah,
that's that's the buzz that me andEan remember for Sonic basketball back in
the nineties. That is now back, but it's back for cracking hockey.

(38:43):
So you know, people that werenot around like you were to experience that,
or some of the younger generational peoplethat are seeing this now for the
first time, it's like going backin a freaking time machine. It.
Well, when did Jacob's, Shaughnessy'sand Harry's close, Oh my god,
when I was fifteen years ago.I mean they were Chicagos across the street?

(39:04):
Yeah, all those places. Yeah, because New York vide on the
air when they played the Bulls inthe NBA Finals always would say they should
have named it Seattle during the NBAFinals, which would have been a hell
of an idea. Yeah, thatwhole vibe around the year. I hope
that area. Dave, Honestly,he's the whole thing. Yeah, out

(39:24):
of everything that happened, I mean, the fan base growing, everyone's wearing
crack and gear. There'll be someexcitement when the season starts next year,
some anticipation that absolutely the bar hasbeen raised in terms of what expectations are.
All those things. I really hopethat one of the other. Because
the TV ratings are big, theradio ratings were big, all those things,
All that stuff happened. I hopeone of the residuals is we see

(39:46):
a revitalization of Lower Queenan. Yeah, and I think you're seeing it already.
Yeah, like they're still seeing it. Are still too many empty places
though, you know now, you'reright, But some of that's because of
you know a lot of other reasons, right right, right, right right,
you know what they are, Yeah, most of which only exist in
our city or on the West coast. But I think it is coming back.

(40:06):
I mean, we got all thesegreat shows coming to Climate Pledge Arena.
You know, I went down underneaththe bowels of the arena, the
loading dock for the very first timeyesterday. I had not been there since
they opened up the arena. Icannot believe what I'm seeing down there,
and the average person may not givea damn or see what I'm talking about.
They got eight freaking loading docks. You could bring in eight semi trucks

(40:27):
at one time underneath that arena, and that's part of the reason why you're
seeing all these awesome shows at ClimatePledge and so yeah, for context,
by the way, that's seven moreloading docks in the correct exactly exactly,
Yeah, all right, what doyou got coming up? John Wilner is
gonna join us today, Dave Tomlinsonwill join us today. Brian Schmittzer will
join us today. We'll play alittle pick your puts at five forty five

(40:47):
from the Emerald. Queen will funwith audio. We're gonna talk some NBA,
some NHL, some madinaers were hittingit off from the Emerald Quei Casina
and we're giving away hockey tickets. We gave us a way, Jeffs,
you got a couple of winners.I know you're contacting them right now for
tomorrow's game. Come on down tonightor tomorrow, enjoy the walk a year
at tomorrow right they're playing against Winnipeg. So I have a ray show buddy

(41:07):
taking care of sea by for themild mannered and marginally objectionably in for ness.
