Speaker 1 (00:00):
Andersy four again. We got Julio Rodriguez coming up in
a second. Yeah, the presser, he's not joining us one
on one. Yes, no, from the presser yesterday. But we
pulled the kind of the best of Julio out yesterday.
Get to that in a second. Two things. One, it's
Funston Day here on Thursday. So fantasy football questions four nine,
four to five to one. They're already rolling in. We'll
take your calls at two o'clock. So you guys all know,

(00:22):
you all know the drill in that regard. I want
to get this out as well today and I'll mention
this again as the show goes on. But here's the thing.
We started the Mayor of Maple Valley Open and Mayor IPA,
the Mayor charities for to benefit Jlnsky's Hope, Avery Huffman
DIPG Foundation, Jordan Morri's Foundation. Planning starts basically in January

(00:42):
and February golf tournaments in July. Beer got released mid August, Andrews,
you were there for that day, A great day at Georgetown,
A ton of fun, great beer, great IPA. It sold
out faster than it ever has except for the COVID year.
Of twenty twenty. What we did though, we held two
kegs back. We had one keg that we tapped on
Monday at the Queen Ane Beer Hall before the Crack

(01:03):
and preseason game. That's gone, and we had one other
keg full keg that we always have our last keg party.
This will be the third year we've done this at
in Bibe Taproom in Maple Valley right off on one
sixty nine. If you're anywhere in the South End, we'll
tap that at five o'clock tonight. We got some great
stuff to give away courtesy of my friends at simply

(01:23):
Seattle simply Seattle dot com. Also some Georgetown swag, some
Mayor stuff. We're selling Mayor trucker hats as well. We
have Really it's just a fun, fun party. That's tonight
starting at five o'clock. We'll have the football game on.
We'll have the baseball game on at in Vibe Taproom.
They've got a Smash Burger truck outside, which is awesome
if you like smash Burgers. The burger truck is there,

(01:46):
so we're gonna start that at five. That is our
last last keg period. End of story. You can't get
the Mayor Ipa again until next August, but we did
have one. I found out the hardy. Apparently the FCC
frowns upon certain things. No, not not talk show hosts

(02:06):
late at night. They don't really care about that, contrary
to popular belief, but they do frown upon if I
was to say, auction a six barrel, which is like
forty two pints, like the small skinny cakes, if you
were to auction one of those off on air, they
don't like that. So we had an extra six barrel
that they saved for me to do that, and I said,
I can't do that because the FCC doesn't allow that

(02:29):
to happen. They get upset about that, and then they
call Purple Sheet and CrossFit GM here, Mark and everybody,
and there's fines and then they you know, things like that.
So instead of doing that, here's what we're doing. George,
I said, just take it and put it in growlers.
So as of right now at the brewery, at this moment,

(02:50):
we have a limited supply of growlers of may Or
Ipa left. When they leave the brewery and nothing, you
can't get a beer. They don't. They didn't tap it.
It's just they'd fill growlers. That's it. That's it. Pick
up a growler today at Georgetown. They are on sale now.
Head in there. Limited supply, very limited supply. But get
your growlers there at Georgetown today. We've rained that final

(03:11):
one and we also have the final final CAG event
tonight at Imbibe in Maple Valley. And then I can
take a deep breath and we can write some nice
checks and do some good work for Lensky's Hope, Bavery, Huffman,
DIPG and the Jordan Morris Foundation. All right, let's get
to Julio Rodriguez, by the way. Cool to see him
at the Mariner game last night. There were a cracking game. Sorry,

(03:33):
the Mariners were at the cracking game last night. They
had at least two suits filled with players. Awesome. Naylor's there.
He actually smiled really crazy. That's the biggest story of
the night. I thought so too, Josh Naylor smiling ladies
and gentlemen. They were having fun last night. Julio on
the zambone cruising around the ice of the second intermission,

(03:55):
He's waving and having fun. Somebody looked at him and go,
how could you not love that guy? Kevin Mather, how
could you not love this guy? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Right?

Speaker 1 (04:03):
Who will just smile it here? I am places going nuts.
It was really a preseason hockey is like preseason football.
Get it over with. Yeah, but that was a highlight
last night. That was really cool to see Wholio. Well,
Julio spoke to the media yesterday and we pulled the
best out. We thought some interesting stuff from him. Getting
ready for the playoff series against either Cleveland or Detroit
again Detroit leading one nothing right now top of four,

(04:24):
right and just top of four leading one nothing. Julio
Rodriguez was asked by Ryan Dimish how this team is
different than the last playoff team three years ago.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
Though this team, maybe compared to the team in twenty
twenty two.

Speaker 4 (04:37):
Is better equipped to handle this kind of pitching. You know,
the other team was younger, wasn't as deep.

Speaker 5 (04:42):
This team's got older guys in the lineup, like you,
guys can handle the elite level pitching.

Speaker 6 (04:48):
I just feel like we're better. You know, we're better
overall than over twenty two. And like you said, you know,
experience also plays into it too. There's a lot of
the same faces, but Plow who ut grown over the
past a few years and I think we're going up
be more prepared.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Just what did you learn about playing in the postseason,
like the intensity of it all?

Speaker 4 (05:09):
You know you're a rookie at that time.

Speaker 6 (05:10):
I mean what did you learn.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
From it that you think would be a better ahead,
better quick this time?

Speaker 6 (05:16):
Oh, just experience yourself, you know, how would you experience
it like you gonna like you know, mo, the vibe
and everything, and also that that's the best base that
we do play is a phone base with to play
so all, I'm definitely looking forward to Dan to backing.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
So Dan talked about your guys' identities, talked about it
all the year. Is that something you have to lean
even more into going to the playoffs? Not feeling like
you need to be bigger or do more just at
the end of the day.

Speaker 6 (05:39):
But yourself, I'll say yeah, a hundred percent, because you know,
we're we're we're in this position for who would where
throughout the whole you know, season, So I feel like
changing changing that would be like kind of stepping away
from who we are. So I feel like as a
team that that would be the best teams just kind

(06:00):
of staying within ourselves and play play to our strength
because that's all I got us here in the first place.
What are those near business class couple of years? Was
the impact of that plus another before? I feel like
just you know, I feel like miss was stronger, you know,
miss of wanting more because you know, obviously, like I

(06:22):
came here in my rookie year, we made the post
season the right way, but and then missing missing a
few of them. I feel like Midos hungrier as a
team and kind of like Todd us more about ourselves
and like, I think someone needed to do one continue
to get better, to be able to be in this
bottle of game right now.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
Kuil Rodriguez in his uh previous playoff experience, which was
five games, uh two seventeen, average, three fifty seven, on
base percentage four thirty five, slugging seven ninety two ops.
I'd take that right now. Say you no home runs,
two RBIs, one stolen base, did walk three times so
we got on a base, struck out seven times though

(06:58):
in twenty three at bats he was a kid, yeah,
and you know so he's looking for his first postseason
home run. Did have a couple of RBIs. Now, I
think some of those numbers are skewed because the entire
team didn't score in the final game, the fifth game
that went eighteen innings, so everyone was like, oho for nine,
you know, right in that particular game. In fact, what

(07:20):
was he he was oh for He was one for
seven in that last game. So I exaggerated a little bit.
He's won for seven, But yeah, I mean that that
last game kind of exaggerated a lot of stats. You know,
there is something that tells me that this guy is
going to have a playoff. And what I mean by
that is he's this is where he become. Like cal

(07:42):
became a star this year with sixty home runs and
the home run Derby and everything that cal Raley did, right,
Cal became a star. Cal became, at least for baseball fans,
a household name across the country. Julio's on the verge
of that, but he's not quite there. I agree. They
had one Sunday baseball game all year, and I think
when we talk about nationally televised games in baseball, that's

(08:05):
the only one that matters. If we're being honest, I'm sorry, Apple,
you and Roku don't matter at all. So ed one
nationally televised game. Julio on the National stage. I'm excited
to see what he is. Bring the joy that you
bring to the field, bring the enthusiasm, and bring the field.
Bring that gold glove caliber defense to the stage at

(08:26):
center stage. I'm going to be stunned if I look
at the line after this playoff and I don't see
under home runs three or four RBIs ten to eleven
plus couple three more stolen bases, etc. I think he's
going to be a star. I'm just nothing to base
that on other than I just think it's time. I
think it's time we see him become a star outside

(08:49):
of Seattle and share the joy of Julio Rodriguez that
we get to see every day. Share that joy with
the rest of the country. The captivating personality that he has,
Share that with everybody. The no fly zone stuff and
all that. Let's go huh, let's get get going. You know,
Randy throwing up a free throw at third base after

(09:09):
a home run. Let's let's share all of that. Nailor
being pissed off at the world every time he steps
on the diamond, Let's share that with the world. Just
stoic doesn't change his no expression whatsoever, No just be cows.
Just go out and hit bombs. Do your sad all right,
We'll take a break. Come back, Eno Seras from the Athletic,
who I believe is pretty bullish on the Mariners' chances
in the postseason. He will join us. Coming up next,

(09:34):
It's time for our weekly visit with Eno. Sarah's of
the Athletic. The best baseball insight you'll get from a
nerd with big league hair. He likes pics of grips,
food and beer well, always dreaming up the next big
baseball stat Brought to you by Georgetown Brewing Tabrew open
seven days a week from ten to eight pm. Makers
of Mannis Paleo Bode, He's up by Pa and the

(09:57):
new domestic style Lagger Tavern Beer. Your place to go
for local taste e craft beer. Now with Ian here Zeno.

Speaker 7 (10:05):
You know.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
Sarah's joins us courtesy our friends at Georgetown Brewing. We
told you the top of the hour tonight is the
final keg of mayor Ipa being tapped. It is the
final final. There will be nothing after tonight, and trust
me it'll get drained tonight at in Bibe Taphouse in
Maple Valley. All the proceeds going to a Lynsky's Hope,
which helps advocate for mental health awareness through a number
of things across the country for student athletes. Very important

(10:28):
topic for me and many others. Lynsky's Hope also to
Jordan Morris Foundation, which goes to support young people with
Type one diabetes, and Avery Huffman DIPG Foundation to help
fight a horrific form of pediatric brain cancer. Every single
dollar from every pint, growler or crowler that you get
today at Imbibe Taphouse goes to those three charities along

(10:48):
with our golf term we have. Final event is tonight
five o'clock will tap that courtesy at Georgetown Beer. They
donate everything. They donate everything, and I can't thank those
guys enough, as well as bringing you know Sarah's every
week as well on the program. One final thing on
that growlers available a limited supply as we've had a
few growlers poured at the brewery at Georgetown Brewings, so

(11:10):
you can go pick those up today. They will last
probably for a couple hours, maybe by the end of
the day. I'm sure they'll last till the end of
the day, but go down there and pick those up again.
All the money goes to charities. Hi, EEno, how are you.
I'm on my way, I go. I'm telling you, it's
fantastic beer. It's a medal. Somehow, it somehow wanted a medal.
And I say that because I'm somehow involved in it.
I had nothing to do with the recipe or anything,

(11:31):
because that's chemistry stuff and I'm too dumb for that.
But our bruer, mad Ed Matt Edwards put together an
award winning beer and it all goes to a great cause.
And go pick it up at the brewerytay or come
by and see us tonight ed and vibe all right,
I'll score update Detroit Cleveland tied at one winner to
the Alds against the Seattle Mariners in the American League

(11:51):
Division Series starting at some point on Saturday time to
be determined. Eno, who does Seattle want to win? If
you're a Mariner fan, who are you rooting for in
this game?

Speaker 7 (12:02):
Cleveland? The Cleveland offense was one of the worst ten
in the big leagues this year, and I think you
want that. I think you want to face that. You know,
usually teams don't make it to the postseason with the
twenty fourth best offense. Right, it's even worse than that
the twenty eighth best offense.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
Oh god, yeah, how's their pitching staff though? Does it
balance out there somehow?

Speaker 4 (12:28):
There?

Speaker 7 (12:28):
It is, It is pretty good, but you know, they
lost the annual Class A this year. So the bullpen
they have Kate Smith and a couple of other guys,
but you know, it's it's not the same vaunted bullpen
they've had in the past. And yes, they've developed guys
like Shane Bieber and Corey Klueber, and you know they've

(12:48):
been considered a pitching factor in the past. And Gavin
Williams and Tanner Biby are pretty good. But you know,
Seattle can match them in the pitching staff department.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
If it is Detroit. What would Seattle be seeing If
it's the Detroit Tigers. It for what two thirds of
the season at least record wise, with the best team
in the American League and then just kind of fell
apart at the end.

Speaker 7 (13:12):
Well, for one, just maybe the ace in mag League
baseball right now, Tyres Scoogle is probably the best pitcher
in baseball right now, and he was sitting ninety nine
with a ninety two mile an hour slider in his
last game against the Guardians, So just an awful, awful
left handed starting pitcher matchup for anybody. That part is

(13:37):
going to be the tough part. The offense is something
that you can pitch too normally. If you just look
at the names, it's Riley Green, Spencer, Torkolsen, guys that
strike out and it's not a great line up top
to bottom. The thing that they do, and the Guardians
have kind of done this in the past, is they
just do their best to have a platoon advantage in

(13:59):
every at that they do their best to run by
the numbers. They call it pitching chaos, but they also
do hitting chaos where they have a lot of hitters
that are interchangeable and can play many different positions and
alrighty lefty. So the annoying thing about facing the Tigers
is you are facing all twenty six men. It's not

(14:20):
something where you can focus on a couple of guys
and figure out how to beat them. It's more about
beating them with execution in every moment because they're going
to try and put the numbers in their direction every time.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
Yeah, we were just watching this game. I mean the
Tigers have threatened every inning I think so far, They've
just got the one run to show it. They've had
some runners in scoring positions, strikeouts have been an issue
and a couple of pop ups too, so they've had
opportunities to take a little bit of a lead and
they haven't done that in the deciding game three, I'm
going to get to postseason success or failures versus regular season.

(14:55):
You wrote a great article in The Athletic, and I
thought it was really interesting because concept or topic we've
talked about a little bit here on this station as
it relates to Saint Aaron Judge or Cal Rawley and
guys like that. We went through Julio's numbers and his
very brief one postseason appearance. Same with Cal. We'll do
that in a second as you're handicapping this thing. And
I want to get to the NLDS too, because Phillies Dodgers.

(15:16):
For someone like me who's a little bit older, I'm
I'm looking to say, hey, is this is Mike Schmidt playing?
Is it? Is it that Phillies team and we got
the old school Dodgers? What have you got? It's been
a while since they saw each other. But before I
get to that, how does eno Sarah see the Mariner
shaping up for this postseason.

Speaker 7 (15:31):
I mean, I have I have them through this next
series at the very least, and I could see them.
I think that it's set up for them to go
to the CS and have a great matchup, you know,
the Jays or the Yankees. I think it's who they'll see.
And you know, it's just really hard to look at

(15:54):
my crystal ball and and tell you you know, what's
going to happen. Then they do have the pitching and
the hitting, you know, things that have been been that
are predictive in the postseason, you know, and these are
very very small predictive quality. Like it's really hard to
predict the postseason. But making more contact is good. That's

(16:15):
not great for the Mariners, but having a good lineup
is good. And this is one of their best lineups.
So I think this is they could go to the
World Series for sure, and they could even win at all.
But you know, I'm more sure about them getting to
the ALCS than I am about what happens to Yet.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
We lean on you heavily for pitching and your your
acumen and your ability and your expertise in that world
of baseball. The Mariners that we look at with this
pitching staff. Now WU is still up for debate. Have
we seen anything Andrews today? I know Dan Wilson spoke,
Is he say anything about Brian Willie's throwing BP today?
BP today? So I mean we won't see him, I'm

(16:54):
sure this weekend, but maybe next week in a game
three or four. We assume it'll probably be so order
of Castile and Logan Gilbert, maybe Gilbert first, Castillo second,
Eno strong starting pitching. Maybe the numbers weren't there this
year for Seattle, but how far can that take a
team in a playoff series.

Speaker 7 (17:14):
Yeah, it's it's big, But you know, what's happened in
trend wise across baseball is that, you know, not only
have relievers gotten to the point where they're pitching almost
fifty percent of regular season inning, but sometimes in the
postseason we've had postseasons where relievers are pitching more than
fifty percent of the postseason as dude to rest days,
off days, there is no tomorrow type of managing for

(17:38):
you know, and then there's also just you know, taking
guys from the rotation, putting them in the bullpen. So
you know, best case scenario, who is healthy and Bryce
Miller becomes a real wildcard because then he's a reliever
and he can be the bridge to the late game relievers.
And I think in short stints some of the issues

(17:58):
he's had with com and go away, because I think
you'll throw harder, and I think, you know, he'll be
he'll be great in two or three anth since then
he has that history as a reliever, as a converted
reliever as well. So you know, I think I think
that they've got what it takes. The WU thing is interesting,
but if Bryce Miller has to start Game three, you
know they could they can push the Woo decision out

(18:19):
a little bit further. I think that, you know, that
becomes a little bit again more important than to see
us in the American League.

Speaker 1 (18:26):
Yeah, so you know Sarah showing chrisy of George s Elberings.
So really, when we handicap these things and we look
at bullpens, it's a little bit different. You're not looking
at necessarily a regular season bullpen. You're looking at a
regular season bullpen and whoever they may add to that bullpen,
correct like, because no team's going to use flash starters.

Speaker 7 (18:44):
It's really most obvious with the Dodgers because they they
had a terrible bullpen. Everyone said, this is a really
terrible bullpen. They're screwed. Well, they just took Roki Sasaki,
who's supposed to be a big starter for them. He's
now throwing one hundred, you know, with the ninety two
hour splitter and looks like he's their closer. They were
talking about using Tyler Glass now in relief, and she

(19:05):
and one of their pitching prospects that was the starter
all year in relief. So you know, that's that's what
a lot of teams, and we've seen it with the
Diamondbacks and the Rangers and the Nationals in years past.
The Nationals had that year where they had Corbyn, Schuzer
and Strasburg and Corbyn was like a reliever for them,
you know, he just kept coming in as a lefty reliever.

(19:26):
So you know, that's definitely what makes it so hard. Also,
you know, you look at these year long bullten numbers
and they include relievers that are now hurt. Now the
miners not didn't make the postseason roster or made the
postseason roster and may not throw a pitch, you know,
because they really hone in on who are your best

(19:48):
three arms in the bullpen three four. The only people,
the only team in baseball that really can say we
have six in the bullten. We trust the Padres and
that's why I have the I'm going pretty far, but
I'm nervous about that pick.

Speaker 1 (20:02):
Yeah, I'm well. I mean we get to a game
three and three of the four series. I mean that's
a anything can happen. As the old cliche says, you know,
serious joinings. All right. I thought this was an interesting
We've had this conversation on air a couple of times.
You wrote about it. The regular season, guys that are
MVP candidates, guys that are cy young candidates. Sometimes it
doesn't translate to the postseason. Aaron Judge's numbers have dropped

(20:27):
off historically in his postseason appearances. We went through Julio's
not that he was a true MVP candidate, but Julio
didn't have a great postseason. Is five games? Cal Rowley's
five games certainly don't reflect what he did this year,
but it was three years ago. What did you find
out when you're kind of putting pouring through this that
kind of gives you the thought that maybe sometimes those
numbers don't always translate to the postseason.

Speaker 7 (20:50):
Well, I just thought of one I didn't put in
the piece, which is I'm kicking myself now. But you know,
here's here's the thing that is really interesting. If you
look at just where hitters do damage, and you look
at the bottom, you know, twenty five percent of the league,
and then the middle fifty and the top twenty five,
you you just separate them that way. One of the
things that really stands out is that the top twenty

(21:12):
five percent, the best hitters in the league do their
most damage middle middle. I mean, it's dull, but that's
the separator. It's not that they do better damage all over.
It's that they destroy things that are in the strike zone,
and the bottom twenty five percent are slapping the ball
around in the strike zone, you know. And so if

(21:33):
you think about it that way, you're like, okay, well,
let's take all the worst relievers off of the roster.
Let's take the four and five starter and make them
relievers so they throw harder. And let's basically take all
the worst teams in baseball and take them out of it.
And what you see is the average postseason fastball is

(21:54):
a mile an hour faster, but not only a mile
and hour fast, but has an each more ride. So
you know you're facing better pitching in the postseason. So
that is part of it, that you go from maybe
beating up on, you know, worse pitching and then you
get into the postseason you're facing better pitching. That's some
part of it, but it's not all of it, because

(22:16):
we have Hall of famers like Joe DiMaggio and Mike
Schmidt who are below average hitters in the postseason and
I'm not calling them unclutch, and I'm not gonna say
that those guys just accumulated numbers against bad pitchers, and
you know, when they faced good pitchers, they were bad.
So I think a lot of it also is, Yes,

(22:37):
if you add up all the cy young guys and
all the MVP guys, you get like four hundred innings
and you know, you know, fifteen hundred played appearances, and
it sounds like, well, that's a big sample and they
were all worse. But it's a collection of little samples.
It's not one guy throwing four hundred postseason innings or
one guy. And this is what I hear a lot
of times too, was like, oh so much better in

(23:00):
the first spott the lineup. You know, when you add
up all his other spots in the lineup, he's not
as good. Well, those are just collections of little games
here and there. They're not. Actually you didn't say, hey,
how does Julio's Let's have you bat first for a
whole season, and then next year we'll have you back
third for a whole season, and then we'll combine those,
we'll compare those two. They don't. It's not how that works,

(23:23):
you know. So when people add up samples, they sometimes
will add up a lot of little samples and say, oh,
this is a big sample, but it's actually just a
lot of little samples. And in the end, I think
it's the unsatisfying answers. It's just luck. I think that,
you know, there's a little bit of it's harder. But
you know, I was here when they said very Bonds
is terrible in the postseason and he can never do it,

(23:44):
and then he single handedly led them to the two
thousand and two postseason with homers and homers and homers.
So you know, I think you just need to keep
giving guys chances. If they've had a chance in the postseason,
haven't been good. Just give him another chance, give them
a chance. Judge is going to break through event.

Speaker 1 (24:01):
Yeah, I mean just the I would encourage people read
the story that you know, road Alert's in the MLB
tap at the Athletic. I mean, these are the below
average hitters who listed in the postseason are basically Hall
of Famous Vladimir Guerrero Senior, Craig Bigio, Jackie Robinson he
was good at baseball. Mike piozso you know he's pretty
good at baseball. Joe Joe Morgan got the what when

(24:22):
you put Joe Morgan there, I'm old. I remember the
big red machine. I was just I would have just
figured he would have been hitting three fifty in the postseason.
Wade Boggs, Joe Demagio, Gil Hodges. Yeah, I mean there's
a small sample size. I do like what you said.
I mean, you're a numbers guy and you study this
stuff intently. There is a little bit of luck, right,
and there is a little bit of a small sample,
and yeah, that's what it is. Sometimes it's it's I

(24:42):
mean we're talking about right now, three game series. I
mean we could see the Padres, who a lot of
people love getting knocked out today. We could see the Yankees,
who people think are a favorite, getting knocked out today.
That could certainly happen along the way. One team that
didn't get knocked out would be the Dodgers. We touched
on them a second ago, Philly's Dodgers. I'm gonna ask
you the sports radio question. You're gonna say, I don't
want to ever come on with you in again because

(25:03):
this is like too cliche and what are you doing?
I'm I'm much better than that, but I'm gonna ask
you anyway, is the alds between those two teams for
the alcs nlcs NLCS Yes, sorry, I.

Speaker 7 (25:16):
Mean I think that's yeah, those are the two best teams.
And what I think is really interesting too is that
they seem like they were built to fight each other.
I was doing like a blow by blow rotation bullpen
defense power and in each case their strengths and their
weaknesses sort of line up with each other. Like their bullpen.
The Phillips bullpen is not the best, but they went

(25:37):
and got John Dura and from the from the Twins,
and in some similar way, the Dodgers, you know, figured
out with Roki Sutaki might be their closer. They piece
it together. You know, their rotations are both great, they
both have great power hitters. Then neither one of them
is the best defensive team in baseball, but they're they're
above average. You know, these these teams are built to

(25:58):
fight each other. And and I think it's a shame
that it's a five game series because I actually think
those are the two teams that are best teams in baseball. Now.
I know the Brewers have the best record in Major
League Baseball, and they're a really good team. But there's
some aspect of what the Brewers do that accumulates over
a regular season that I don't think is necessarily amazing.

(26:20):
For the postseason. They do things like run a lot,
play really good defense. These are things that win you
little games on the margin. But in the postseason, I
do think there's a little bit if I found a
little of effect of like stars matter, your top guys matter.
You're matching up ace against a second against second. You
know it's not you know, it's not a thing where

(26:40):
you can you know, win on the margins as much
as you know your top performers need to perform, and
when they have Otani, you know that's a big deal.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
You know, tell people about the podcast because at this
time of the year, I don't think Marriner fans can
get enough baseball, which is really fun for us because
it doesn't happen all that often, or at least it
hasn't happened all that often in the pass. Hopefully this
becomes a regular occurrence. So where can where can they
find you?

Speaker 7 (27:03):
We're at rates and barrels, and we're daily and we're
always having fun over there right now, but sometimes during
the regular season where you do some fantasy, but right
now it's all all about the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (27:14):
And again for us, this is fun. I want to
make this like a regular thing every year. It'd be
kind of cool. We're enjoying it. I'll let you get
back to watching Detroit Cleveland. They're still tied bottom of
the fifth inning, one to one.

Speaker 7 (27:24):
EMA.

Speaker 1 (27:25):
We'll talk to you next week. By the time we
do so, we'll either be looking at a game five
for the Mariners in the Alds or they'll be moving on.
I'm not going to talk about what the other option
would be. Thanks buddy, Thanks a lot. Theres brought to
buy our good friends at Georgetown Brewing. Will day Break
come back a little Daily power Play.

Speaker 2 (27:43):
Next Balkin shoots on it all GOLDI plucks and they start.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
It's Crosby Stop. This is the Daily power Play Deep

(28:13):
have a new open for that at some point. Hey,
even there's one guy to text all the time. Two,
I'm fascinated before he gets a hockey by the fact
that the lefty on the mound for the Cleveland Guardians
is my former producer, Sabrowski. That's cool. The Red Baron's
out there, that's funny. Go get him, Josh, say your

(28:34):
brother Eric out there. He's about eight hundred pounds heavier
than the Red Baron was. That's not the Red Baron
after he was at Georgetown? Should you he was there?
He was at Georgetown for the brewery for a beer release.
I should introduce new producer, old producer. Yeah yeah, anyway,
Daily power Play Holding the crack of nine three point
three k ter FM. We open up the regular season

(28:56):
a week from today against the Duckies Vanaheim. The final
preseason game was last night. Thank god. Did you have
to work that? Did you have to work that? Last night.
I don't know it was so bad. Yes, I did
have thought that was a bad game. Preseason anything is awful,
we get excited. I'm starting to side more and more

(29:17):
with Softy, I really am. And that just pains me
to say it, but I am. I'm starting to side
with Softy preseason NFL preseason spring training is the worst,
I'll be honest with you, unless you're sitting in the
sunshine in Arizona while it's forty degrees here. Spring training
in baseball is awful. Yes, a bunch of guys wearing
number eighty nine, like, come on see. I'm a little

(29:38):
partial to that over preseason hockey and football because you
get to see some prospects he maybe not would be
able to see. But none of those guys are going
to play here.

Speaker 6 (29:46):
Like.

Speaker 1 (29:46):
The thing with baseball that I really don't like is
that you know your roster going in. Yeah, you're just
all it is. Spring training is about one thing. Pitchers
getting their arms loose ready to go for the season,
some hitters trying to get some timing. It's a maybe
NHL is the same way, goalies getting their timing down,
getting to work in Joey got lots of work in
last night. He was great, he's good. The Vets just

(30:08):
going through the motions and last night, if they're playing,
if they're playing well, they have to play two games minimum. Okay,
I don't know if that'll be the case next ye
because there's only four games next year. It goes from
six or eight to unless there's an injury, correct, right, yeah,
but there's enough guys it won't matter. The power plays
eleven combined last night, the entire first period of special teams.

(30:29):
It's almost as if the two coaches went to the
officials and said, hey, call everything so we can work
on special teams. I'm I kind of Askedline Lambert that
post game. I kind of like that. I kind of
asked him that, and he's like, he didn't say no anyway, Yeah,
it was it was we're done, we move on. The highlight, honestly,
was the Mariners at the in the CPA filling up

(30:51):
a couple of suites, having some fun, letting awesome steam,
Julio riding and Zamboni around place. Went nuts when they
were introduced too. I honestly believe the biggest year might
have been for Naylor because you could see him he's
easy to recognize, like, like some guy's like, I think
that's Matt Brash was wearing his like Mariners hockey jersey.
He's worn a yeah, wearing he was wearing a jersey.

(31:11):
I'm pretty sure it was the Marrior's one. Yeah, because
the new the third one. Yeah, the like we're like,
I think that's Kirby. I think that's Brash. You know,
it's hard guys. Some guys are I know that's Huio
on this His cruis are around having fun Yeah, and
Nayler you know, like I said, he smiled. I thought
that was the biggest news of the night. He wasn't
ready to kill somebody. Wow, really having funny is correct?

(31:34):
Kicking back, you know, a few beers. I think he
grew up an Edmonton fan, is what I heard. He's
from Ontario. He's from Ontario. Here's the thing. You'd have
to be Josh Naylor and have the stones to grow
up in Ontario and be a fan of a team
from Western Canada. That is a very joshing. It's like, yeah,
and who's gonna tell him no, screw Toronto. Yeah, he
was like that's probably what it was.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (31:57):
Yeah, Ben was telling me that last night here he
grew up in oilers. I mean it's not awesome, but
it's yeah whatever, Cracking made just a couple moves today.
They still have a lot more roster moves to make,
but they sent down Ben Meyers and Mitchell Stevens. You're going, okay,
I don't care. I'm just putting the news out there.
Waiting for Berkeley. Berkeley looked okay last night, took three
minor penalties, but Berkeley Catton it has to be on

(32:18):
this team. I'm sure he's going to be on this
team at least start. Matty. Beniar's looks so much better
and more comfortable with him on his line. So we'll see,
all right at your daily power play again one week
for the night opening night at Climate Pledgery. And the
best thing about that, no matters game that night. It's
either a travel day or getting ready for the next day.
For there's no third options. There's no third option. There

(32:39):
is no third option. So basically it's it's just getting
ready for the next one. Okay, we're good.

Speaker 7 (32:44):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (32:44):
Brandon Funston is standing by two O six two eight
six nine five nine five two O six two eight
six nine five nine five phone lines are filling up.
Two O six two eight six, nine, five, nine to five.
Get your questions in for Funston. We'll take the text.
We'll take questions on the phones. Coming up next. Hi, Brandon,

(33:05):
how are you?

Speaker 5 (33:06):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (33:07):
Can I steal robs Thunder and say I hate this game?

Speaker 2 (33:10):
Well, I'm with you.

Speaker 1 (33:12):
I'm with you as well, buddy. It has been a
it's been a struggle this year. What's going on? Well,
all the injuries.

Speaker 4 (33:18):
Injuries have just been brutal. Yeah, I mean there's been
some people not performing up to expectations for sure, but
injuries have been brutal. I mean I I personally was
somebody who got stung by that Jalen Warren thing last
week where didn't really clock that he was supposed to
be out and then he warms up in Ireland and
is declared out and he was in two of my

(33:39):
lineups at six thirty in the morning when I hadn't.
I kind of forgot that they were kicking off that early.
Somehow escaped me. I think there was a there was
a husky game involved, and I was that was not
in my normal focus.

Speaker 1 (33:54):
Oh oh man.

Speaker 6 (33:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (33:56):
So anyways, it's.

Speaker 1 (33:57):
Been a been a struggle. Bus year. Our even our
our esteemed fantasy expert has his days. I feel well,
I'll but all the quarterback injuries, all the wide receiver injuries,
I mean, skill guys hurt all over the places. So
that's why we have you here, sir, to answer those questions.
This is how messed up this is. I'm gonna tell
you how messed up it is. Right now. We don't

(34:19):
even have our normal order today. That's how people are
calling in. There's desperation in the air. We also had
someone that wasn't just closest to the pin. They nailed
it at one o'clock exactly today on the text line
at four nine, four to five one for your question.
So without further ado, we drop down, not one spot,
not two spot. Yes, our own version of Jalen Milroe.

(34:40):
We're down to the third string. And you know what
that means. Rob and Bury and hello, are you lead
us off today?

Speaker 7 (34:48):
Rob? And start and look for baby.

Speaker 1 (34:55):
That just makes a lot of sense, doesn't it. It's
just all struggling, and Rob's ca and taking names and
he's still calling in. What do you got for us? Buddy?
We're taking all the names.

Speaker 8 (35:05):
Here we go, I mean two of three, please h
Chan firing Williams and NTA.

Speaker 4 (35:13):
Yeah, let's see Antien Kyraen Williams. I have back to
actually not quite back to back. I have at T
I love weirdly the KC matchup has been pretty good
for running backs this year. I love the way Etien
has been looking. Jacksonville's actually been blocking really well opening opportunities.
So I'm gonna go ETN And I have a Chan
number two this week against Caroline. I think he's just

(35:34):
I mean, I think he could push ten catches with
Tyreek kell out just and it's the matchup's great, So
I just think there's a lot of way a Chan
can really help you this week.

Speaker 1 (35:42):
All right, Rob, and again thanks for calling in. And
that just explains everything right there, does it?

Speaker 6 (35:47):
Not?

Speaker 1 (35:47):
One line open two O six two eight six ninety
five ninety five Kyn Williams. We don't like Kyvin Williams
against the Niners tonight.

Speaker 4 (35:53):
Well, I got him at like twelve or thirteen.

Speaker 1 (35:56):
It's not like I don't like him.

Speaker 4 (35:58):
Rob's just got some really good options like how like.

Speaker 1 (36:01):
How the how? I mean, I'm just trying to figure
that one out to be honest with you, Like that,
but that might sum up the year, all the injuries,
everything else. All right, I think he's here with us.
Let's let's get him on without further Ado online three today,
A little bit tardy, but better late than never. Hi,
Mike and Evans, how are you?

Speaker 7 (36:18):
Hi?

Speaker 9 (36:18):
Ann? Hi Brandon?

Speaker 1 (36:19):
What's going on? Buddy?

Speaker 4 (36:21):
You're in the cal Raly spots today. Don't feel bad?

Speaker 10 (36:23):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (36:23):
Yeah, number two in the order. That's fine.

Speaker 9 (36:26):
Oh that's pressure man, Okay, uh full PPR. Need just
one of these following four guys Portland Sudden, Ashton, Johnty Quinn,
Shawn Junkins or Javonte Williams and thanks as always for
doing this.

Speaker 1 (36:46):
Man, that's good and you need how many?

Speaker 4 (36:48):
Mike?

Speaker 9 (36:49):
Just one?

Speaker 4 (36:50):
Just one? I'm gonna go with I'm gonna go with
Jent Over Jack kNs. I like all those guys, I
mean I have them all ranked high. But game. He
had a good week last week and the matchup doesn't
set up too bad for him this week.

Speaker 1 (37:05):
All right, Ashton genty it is two six two six
ninety ninety five. Let's go stay in Bury and Chris
and Bury and you're up next. What's up?

Speaker 7 (37:11):
Chris? Good afternoon, gentlemen. Happy football Thursday.

Speaker 1 (37:16):
Happy football Thursday. Let's go, bud. What do we got?

Speaker 5 (37:20):
Full point PPR. I need a flex And don't laugh
at this because I wasn't sure if I should play
him or not. We've got deMercado, Derrick Henry, DeVonta Smith,
or Jake Ferguson in that flex spop want.

Speaker 4 (37:35):
To Smith and Jake Ferguson, Well not not deemer Cotto
over Derrick Henry. And you know what, I'm gonna go with.
Jake Ferguson's got a ton of targets. I'm gonna go
with him over DeVonta Smith. You can't trust that passing
game right now, So give me Henry and Jake Ferguson
and Demercato is not the direct replacement for Trey Benson.

(37:55):
Sounds like Michael Carter probably is going to come in
off the practice squad and be the early down guy
and Dean McCarter will stick with his passing game role.

Speaker 1 (38:02):
Oh there you go, good stuff. There, that's a that's
an interesting concept. Okay, that's uh. You know, I was
just thinking how disappointing I got more phone calls, but
just Derek Henry's killing people isn't he this year?

Speaker 9 (38:14):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (38:15):
Yeah, absolutely, you know it's he's had some big runs.
He's had some fumbles though, be very interesting this week.
You know, Lamar Jackson helps running backs out. I think
they've had the backfield's average over five yards of carry
with Lamar Jackson at C and center. But with Cooper Rush,
it's gonna be you know, there's gonna be some stacked boxes.
Cooper Rush does not throw the ball downfield, so it's

(38:36):
gonna be just a very very stacked box this week.
Even still, I take Henry over de Mercado.

Speaker 1 (38:42):
All right, two six sixty five ninety five. Here we go,
Derek and Sultan. What do you got Derek? What's up?

Speaker 7 (38:48):
Guys?

Speaker 8 (38:49):
I got a trade question for you. Since the last
one worked out so well, you told me to told
me to trade away Tyreek Hill, so let's let's do
it again.

Speaker 11 (38:57):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (38:58):
But yes, yeah, exactly.

Speaker 7 (39:02):
So I'm wondering if I should trade away brock Bauers
for Javonte Williams and Hunter Henry. I need a running back.

Speaker 4 (39:11):
Yeah that's great. And actually, you know, and I was
just going to go back to Mike's question. He had
Javonte Williams or Gent and I actually am looking at
my rank because I have Williams just ahead of just
ahead of Gent and part of that has to do
with Miles Sanders. It's not completely healthy. The Jets haven't
been great. So Javonte Williams has been really good. The

(39:32):
dvance metrics back it up. He's involved in the passing game.
I don't think that's going away. So brock Bowers, we
haven't really seen last year's brock Bowers really kind of
come into play a whole lot with Gino yet and
so yeah, So, I mean, Henry's kind of been been
a nice connection for Drake May. So you get Henry
as a replacement, plus you get a big upgrade at

(39:53):
running back. I think that's a decent deal.

Speaker 1 (39:55):
All right, there you go. Yeah, Gino Smith still ruining
life in Seattle. You know he's not playing here anymore.
Work that's mine. Well done. There, We stay in Sultan,
Stephen and Sultan. What do you got? Steven?

Speaker 7 (40:05):
Not much missed you guys.

Speaker 8 (40:07):
So I have two quick questions. One is not ge
Harris Worth even keep it on? I r anymore in Dynasty?
And two I need one flex Tetario McMillan, Marvin Harrison, Diggs,
Andrews or Juwan Johnson and things like always guys, I
missed you.

Speaker 4 (40:22):
Thank you, Stevens Anderson, Juwan Johnson. I'll see is it
tat or Marvin Harrison gonna look at Yeah? I have
tet a little bit higher than Marvin Harrison. He we
the way I would go there. My answer on Naji
Harris is like if if not nause on your ir spot,
then who I mean, you might as well use it?
So if you are, I mean the bigger question would

(40:44):
be like if you if you removed him, you have
someone to put there, I mean, might as well use it? Right?

Speaker 11 (40:50):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (40:50):
Absolutely? Greg and Graham? What's up?

Speaker 10 (40:52):
Greg?

Speaker 4 (40:53):
Hey?

Speaker 11 (40:54):
How you guys?

Speaker 2 (40:54):
Doing good? Buddy?

Speaker 7 (40:55):
What do you got?

Speaker 11 (40:57):
I got a trade question in hal TPR Would you
trade Davante jeez? I'm blanking okay, Trey McBride for quin
Shawn Jenkins.

Speaker 4 (41:11):
Man, Uh, I mean it's the number one tight end
and is sending Quincheawn Judkins. The only thing that I
would say that normally, I would say if Judkins wasn't
facing a potential suspension of two to four games, that'd
probably keep riding Jenkins.

Speaker 1 (41:26):
And he's looked really good.

Speaker 4 (41:27):
He's actually looked like like he might be the best
running back in the class. But with that hanging over
his head, you know, it's like, I guess you can
if you have a need for tight end really bad
and you have some running backs to play with, I
think it's okay. But man, who has a bunch of
running backs to play with?

Speaker 1 (41:45):
Nobody? The answer is nobody. Nobody has that. Let's see,
we'll bang through these real quick. Jordan and Tacoma. Hey, Jordan, mom, Man,
how are you guys? Good buddy? What's up?

Speaker 2 (41:56):
What do you got?

Speaker 5 (41:57):
All right?

Speaker 7 (41:58):
So I need two of the four full GPR.

Speaker 8 (42:02):
I got Ladd McConkie, Marvin Harrison, Michael Carter, and Ramande Stevenson.

Speaker 7 (42:11):
Thanks guys, thank you.

Speaker 4 (42:14):
Yeah, let's go with uh, you know I'm gonna go
with Marvin Harrison for sure. Gosh, let's let's go with
Ladd McConkie. It's not a great matchup. But I just
don't know about throwing Michael Carter out there right away first,
right off the practice squad, and they can give him
a full load. We'll see, but I I'd rather I'd

(42:36):
rather roll the dice on ma Coonkee.

Speaker 1 (42:37):
Beautiful Stephen Shoreline. Your next up? What's up?

Speaker 7 (42:39):
Steve?

Speaker 2 (42:41):
Okay?

Speaker 7 (42:41):
I need one out of the three for flex. JK.
Dobbins at Philly McConkie home against Washington, Pittman home against
the Raiders.

Speaker 4 (42:51):
The Dobbins and Pittman just want to watch out on Pittman.
I just saw he popped up on the injury report
today with a hamstring issue. I don't know if it's
serious or not, but if he ends up playing, I
want Pittman. If not, then you know your choice is
made for you.

Speaker 1 (43:06):
All right, last phone call before we go to the text.
Daniel in Lake Forest Park, Hey, you got Anyboddy? Hey?

Speaker 8 (43:14):
I got Jamar Chase and I gotta get rid of him.

Speaker 7 (43:16):
Can I get a running back for him?

Speaker 1 (43:18):
And if so, who you can try?

Speaker 4 (43:21):
You know he's averaged over in PPR. I think it's
something like twenty three points a game in his career
with Burrow and like eleven point two with Browning. So
he goes from wide receiver one to it's probably somewhere
in the wide receiver two range now for the rest
of season. So you should get something commensurate to that

(43:41):
value at the running back position. I mean it's it's
probably not crazy to say, you know, I'm just looking
at the guys here. I mean, if you could get
a Travis Etn or a quin Shawn Judkins or a
Cam Scatabo. I mean, that's really kind of where you're
at when you're talking about running backs.

Speaker 1 (43:58):
You gotta get twenty plus points, is what you're talking
talking about, even even as bad as Browning spin.

Speaker 4 (44:02):
Yeah, I mean, even go Javonte Williams for Jamar Chase.
I don't think that's terrible. We just talked about a
deal for Javonte.

Speaker 1 (44:08):
We'll get them. Throw that out there, all right, Let's
get to some text four nine four five one. That
is the undrafted unrestricted free agent text line Andrews, I'm
gonna start at the very early. You'll start at the
very end, and we'll get as many in as we can.
And I mentioned this, and I'm very proud of our listeners.
Jamie from Allen bang on right off the get go

(44:32):
one hundred percent accurate one o'clock exactly, not one second after,
not one second before. Jamie and Allen closest to the pin,
got a damn hole in one start golf or Herbert,
thank you.

Speaker 4 (44:48):
Uh matchup favors golf this weekend Cincinnati. I'm definitely starting golf,
using in my top five at the quarterback position.

Speaker 1 (44:55):
Andrew from Pualla really really tardy one second after one o'clock.
Dak Prescott or Jayden Daniels.

Speaker 4 (45:05):
I'm going jad and Daniels. It looks like he's going
to play. If he plays, he's my number two quarterback
this week. Don't think Pretscott's a bad play, but I
want Jaden Daniels rushing floor.

Speaker 1 (45:15):
Four to two five. Also just absolutely tardy at one
second after Herbert or Goff. Yeah, I just know we
just did that. Sorry about that GoF full point PPR
Mconkey or Rashad White.

Speaker 4 (45:28):
Honestly, I mean the Seahawks give up a lot of
receptions to running backs. Rashad White. We're probably gonna get
the bulk of the carriers with Bucky Irving likely to
be out, so give me Rashad White.

Speaker 1 (45:38):
We're still one second after this is remarkable injuries and
bye weeks, cy Oh yeah, we're feeling your brother standard scoring.
Keon Coleman or Troy Franklin.

Speaker 4 (45:48):
I like, I like the matchup for Keon Coleman. I
like his advanced metrics a little bit. So give me
Keon Coleman.

Speaker 1 (45:53):
Half point PPR. Need one wide receiver in one flex,
Jamison Poward, Dowbtell dig so needs two of those digs.

Speaker 4 (46:03):
Give me Jameson Williams and Stefan Diggs.

Speaker 1 (46:05):
We are still one second after the hour. It's remarkable
full PPR Trede Tucker or Wandale Robinson. That's from Ryan
and Scottsdale.

Speaker 4 (46:12):
Yeah, let's just go ahead and go with Wandale Robinson
maybe getting like eight catches of about five yards apiece.

Speaker 1 (46:18):
That adds up in PPR. I think this is a record.
Still one second after standard scoring Sutton or Flowers.

Speaker 4 (46:27):
I have Sutton two spots ahead of Flowers. Both of
them are in my top fifteen.

Speaker 1 (46:31):
There's people right now listening and they're saying I had
to be like right at the top of the hour. Yeah,
I'm still one second after I haven't finished it. Let's see,
we've got Marcus, our buddy. Marcus also hit the one
second Mark Horton or DeMarcus Robinson PPR.

Speaker 4 (46:48):
Horton, Oh, Tory Horton or DeMarcus.

Speaker 1 (46:50):
Yeah, all his receivers are hurt on a buy.

Speaker 4 (46:53):
Yeah, give me a starter. DeMarcus Robinson and Kendrick Bourne
are starting for the forty nine Ers. Who knew that,
like every offensive skill position starter for the Niners would
be out except for at CMC. I mean, it's just crazy.
That's the kind of outside down world we're in. But
DeMarcus is a starter. I'd rather have the number two
than the number three.

Speaker 1 (47:12):
I'm gonna try to get the two seconds after the
hot because that's what we're starting right now before I
go to Andrews the top of the ar need one.
Jacoby Myers, AJ Brown, Brian Thomas Junior.

Speaker 4 (47:20):
Uh, just need one?

Speaker 6 (47:21):
I like.

Speaker 4 (47:23):
I'm just looking AJ Brown slightly ahead of Brian Thomas Jr.

Speaker 1 (47:27):
Let's see need one please full PPR Sterling Shepard, Travis Hunter,
Deontay Thornton, Darius Slayton or Kendrick Bourne. Need one.

Speaker 4 (47:35):
Let's go with Kendrick Bourne. I actually think he's good
for five or six catches this week.

Speaker 1 (47:39):
Stafford or Jayden Daniels at quarterback? Should I trust Daniels
coming off injury against the Chargers on the road.

Speaker 4 (47:45):
Yes, that Chargers matchup for quarterbacks hasn't been terrible. I
actually have it graded out as a pretty decent matchup
for Jade and Daniels. So James Daniels at back. I'm
making the Jade and Daniels decision every week of the year.

Speaker 1 (47:58):
Half point PPR. Stafford or Baker Mayfield.

Speaker 4 (48:01):
Stafford and Mayfield's not that healthy. He's gonna play, but
he's been dealing with He's got a couple of little
injuries that have sort of slowed his role this week.

Speaker 1 (48:08):
Love that for fact fiction exactly half point PPR. Need
two for flex DeMarco de Marcado, Pollard, Agbuka Kirk need
two half point PPR. Let's go with it.

Speaker 4 (48:20):
Let's just go with volume with Pollard and definitely definitely
Igbuca even though Seahawks defense man one of the best
in the league.

Speaker 1 (48:26):
But I'll still take a Buca. I can't go any
further Anders because I mean, I'm only at three seconds
after the hour, and you got again some of the
latest ones to come in, so fire away. Well, we
did get a text from Ricky and Tacoma. He says,
it's two fifteen. I know I'm late, but I tried
to call the regular phone and it's been busy since
one fit. It's been crazy it's been a crazy week man,
with injuries and bye weeks. It's been this has been

(48:47):
our like. Our volume is higher than ever before, he
texted in his question standard scoring. I got three players,
and I need the best one for my flex spot.
Wandale Robinson, Travis Kelcey or Era Elik Iomaner.

Speaker 4 (49:00):
Let's go with Travis Kelsey in the standard league. The
touchdown potential upside, I think is what I would lean
towards there.

Speaker 1 (49:06):
All right, half point PPR Traveon Henderson or Michael Carter.

Speaker 4 (49:11):
Yeah, I like, uh, I like the matchup for Traveon Henderson.
It's the highest over under four game score on the
board at fifteen and a half between the Bills and
the Patriots.

Speaker 1 (49:20):
So give me Travion all right, half point PPR. Pachecko
or de Mercado.

Speaker 4 (49:25):
Chucka hasn't been great, but he's still the lead guy there.
Give me Pacheck, o cause.

Speaker 1 (49:32):
Co or Sharboney.

Speaker 6 (49:36):
Let's go.

Speaker 4 (49:36):
Let's go with Sharboney, Like, oh my.

Speaker 2 (49:39):
God, give up.

Speaker 1 (49:45):
Trade question. We love trades. Would you give away Dereck Henry,
Ann McLaurin for ETN and Marvin Harrison Junior?

Speaker 4 (49:54):
I would not, No, I mean, Lamar is gonna be
back before too long, and Henry could be a monster
down the stret Still, I don't think he's hit the
career cliff at this point yet.

Speaker 7 (50:03):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (50:04):
Blake Korham or R J Harvey full PPRJ.

Speaker 4 (50:08):
Harvey had sort of this breakout game last week, and
I expect him to continue to be heavily involved going forward.

Speaker 1 (50:14):
Got jsn is one of my receivers. Need one more
Nico Collins, Quentin Johnson, Xavier Worthy or Jordan Addison.

Speaker 4 (50:23):
Let's go with I'm gonna go with Nico Collins. Baltimore's
defense hasn't been as vaunted as they've been in the past,
so give me Nico. Quentin Johnson would be a close second.

Speaker 1 (50:32):
And then a secondary question on the same text, Should
it Douneza be starting the rest of the year after
this bye week? Yeah, I gets a ton.

Speaker 4 (50:39):
I mean he's the number one target for Kaylen Williams
getting a lot of work in the in the red zone.

Speaker 7 (50:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (50:45):
Absolutely is as good as it gets right now. Two
five to three, Dearest Funds is as good as a gets.

Speaker 1 (50:50):
I should Yeah, he is?

Speaker 6 (50:51):
He is.

Speaker 1 (50:51):
DearS Funston, is Cuba gonna start if not. Should I
move Dobbins up from my flex and start Khalil Shakir? Also?
Is Baker a good start this week?

Speaker 4 (51:02):
I don't think Baker is a good start. Seattle's been
It's been pretty tough on quarterbacks. Cuba is hanging in
the balance, got a calf injury. I love the matchup.
I had to downgrade him though. Honestly, if he gets
out and you could, you could filling him in with
Rico Dado, that would be the move. Who was who
are the people he was asking about?

Speaker 1 (51:19):
Should I move up Dobbins and my flex and start
Khalil Shakir?

Speaker 4 (51:23):
I mean that's fine, It's it's uh, you know, it's
a decent matchup for that.

Speaker 1 (51:27):
But, like I mean exactly, this season sucks. It's the
worst ever. I'm owing for a guy. Everyone's awful, everyone's
gonna buy, everyone's hurt.

Speaker 4 (51:43):
This sucks.

Speaker 2 (51:44):
We need the reset.

Speaker 1 (51:45):
But like, if you play, if you play like a
survivor pool, you know, and everyone's four weeks, just start
over again? Can we just start over again? She sucks?
That's the worst.

Speaker 2 (51:56):
God. I hate you.

Speaker 1 (51:58):
I hate you, brocked out, really hate you. Gino. You're
on it on my team, and I hate you, Like,
does he not know that brock Bowers is on his team?
Let's straight with him.

Speaker 4 (52:07):
Hey, Pete, Pete at some of this blame too, all right, like,
but think about it. It's all the Seattle narratives have
just moved down to last they have.

Speaker 1 (52:16):
It's it's so true. But here's the thing you've got. Oh,
I know, I saw Jamal dancing on the side of
my I'm like not playing, think he's doing something. It's
like raw raw, But like brock Bowers should be Gino's guy,
and he's checked down Gino. Now he's right there. Eighty nine.
He wears eighty nine. Man, It's just like all those.

Speaker 4 (52:33):
Years when we thought Jimmy Graham should be our guys.

Speaker 6 (52:35):
Why you guys?

Speaker 1 (52:37):
Just Pete hates tight ends and Gino hates the more.
Lamar is soft, Derrick Henry is old. And let's just
go through the list. Marvin Harrison Junior's overrated. Marvin Harrison
Junior sucks unless he's playing the fourth four against Reek
Walling exactly. Screw fantasy anyway, It's unofficial start of the weekend.

(53:01):
Here's fund stay, let's go, and Ricky to call it
couldn't even call in today. We were so bad. Mike
was late. Too many questions, too many things going on.
All right, Funston, what do you got I people didn't
get their questions answered.

Speaker 2 (53:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (53:11):
If you're not ready to check out on fantasy football, yeah,
please come for the Athletic check this out. We're still
doing stuff to get you ready for Sunday. Rankings updated
every day, a bunch of advice and stuff like that.

Speaker 1 (53:22):
The Discord.

Speaker 4 (53:23):
I met one b man gave me a shout out today.
He says he listens to the show and it was
happy that I had mentioned Discord. The Athletic Discord is
out there for fantasy as well.

Speaker 1 (53:35):
Oh I love it, man, Thank you. Fund stay. This
is fun no matter what. Every week we love it.
It kicks off the weekend. We'll talk to you next week.
By the way, there is an early game this week again. People,
right right, If you're getting your if you're getting hammered,
funds to watching Malie Washington and Maryland kick the crap
out of the Huskies and make sure you're up early
in case you need to change things. All right, fella,

(53:56):
that's that's my fantasy advice for you, all right, that's
bredon function for the Athletic Go check it out the
Athletic dot Com. Their fantasy side is fantastic. We'll come
back check the text. Andrews has a pick today for
a Factor fiction coming up.

Speaker 2 (54:14):
From the R and R.

Speaker 10 (54:15):
Foundation Specialist broadcast studio. Now back to Ian Fernez powered
by Seapple's closest sports book, Snow call Me Casino and
Hotel on Sports Radio ninety three point three kJ R FM.

Speaker 1 (54:35):
All right, moments away from Factor Fiction, A couple of
reminders for you. Tomorrow is a football Friday sponsored by
Tito's Time Made Vodka, but but a lot of baseball tomorrow.
Detroit leading Cleveland now six to one. So it is,
and we're in the top of the eighth inning, so
six outs away from Cleveland moving or getting eliminated in

(54:56):
Detroit being here on Saturday for Game one of the
a l DS. Now, we won't know what time that
game is until later on today. Five o'clock Yankees, Red
Sox deciding Game three, Red Sox win one awight game,
Yankees win five thirty eight game or five aweight game

(55:17):
the five O fiveweight. Yeah, so five o'clock, five o'clock
if the Yankees win one o'clock. If the Red Sox
win later on today again, that's a five o'clock first
pitch in New York today. But Detroit leading Cleveland six
to one, so I think it's almost a foregone conclusion.
We will see the Tigers here coming up on Saturday.

(55:40):
They erupted for four runs in the seventh inning. I
think it was yes, yeah, they were just got it
got ugly, ugly in a hurry, and we didn't want that,
by the way, we did not as Joe Shihan said
he would pick if it was the Mariners in the Guardian,
he picked the Mariners in two and it's the best

(56:01):
of five. Do the math, and pretty quickly when we
asked who we should be rooting for, before you even
finished the question, Eno said, Cleveland.

Speaker 7 (56:08):
Cleveland.

Speaker 1 (56:09):
That ain't happening. Cleveland is in trouble. Eight nine to
one up for the Guardians in the bottom of the eighth.
As we go there, all right, let's get to it.

Speaker 2 (56:18):
Where's that to go?

Speaker 3 (56:19):
Glad you're with us, it's your shot at our weekly
thousand bucks and the ten thousand dollars grand prize. It's
Factor fiction, probably presented by Lucky Eagle Casino and Hotel
where every Day Feels Lucky. Factor Fiction is on Sports
Radio ninety three point three KJR FM.

Speaker 1 (56:41):
Factor Fiction is indeed brought to you by our good
friends of the Lucky Eagle Casino and Hotel where every
Day Feels Lucky. We give away a thousand dollars every week,
ten thousand dollars grand prize at the end. Most correct
pick is ten thousand, But all you have to do
is get one correct pick during the week and you
are automatically entered to win one thousand dollars weekly prize.
Some people have won with just one correct pick, others
have had a handful of picks in there more chances

(57:03):
to win. It's pretty simple. The more chances that you have,
the better chance you have to win. You listen for
the pick which is coming up in a second. If
you agree, you'll text Fact the four nine four to
five one. If you disagree, your text Fiction to four
nine four or five one. For today's pick, we go
to mister Anderson Hurst. So my last two successful picks

(57:23):
have been and really the only successful picks on this show. Yeah,
I don't want to, you know, do that, but you
know it's true. It is true have been Homer picks.
So I'm gonna stick with what's been working for me lately.
I'm gonna go Seahawks minus three at home versus the
Tampa Bay Buccaneers. We just heard about some banged up
Baker Mayfield stuff from Brandon Funston. I just believe in

(57:46):
the Seahawks team more than anything else. I think they've
exercised the home demons, so to speak. It was pretty
dang loud against New Orleans. I just and it's not
just Baker may Field that's been injured. On the Tampa side.
They got banged up O line, there's Mike Emans is out.
There's a lot of a lot of big question marks.

(58:07):
They've been a good team so far, a good story.
But I just I really believe in what the Seahawks
are doing right now. Nicki min Warri seems like he's
gonna play, which is great. The Sam Donold's been one
of the best quarterbacks in the league. I expect that
to continue. I just think the Seahawks win by more
than three points against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. So Seahawks
minus three at home versus Tampa Homer pick Homer pick

(58:31):
I love it. Seahawks minus three minus three. Well, first
of all, this should be home field advantage again, yes,
like this should be that again, Like we should see
a home field advantage for Seattle. It's Tampa. They're not traveling.
Plus see, Okay, I know everyone loves the Creamsico jerseys.
It's the battle of the nineteen seventy six jerseys, helmets

(58:54):
and helmets and everything, the entire kit. As they say,
ours are so much better. Oh, the wrap around, wrap
around Seahawks logo is awesome on the helmet. Yes, the
Seahawks posts some stuff on so social media. Eric Kennedy
is putting it over there, putting it over there. Yeah, Uk,
and those guys doing that, it's awesome. It's really cool. Yeah.
And anyone who thinks that the Creamsickles are better than

(59:14):
the Seahawks throwbacks can just so. I'm not saying I'm
making the pick because of the jerseys, but you know
it's add something to it. Plus Wellether the secretary in
the office for the March Madness or what. Plus, like
Downtown's gonna be hoping this weekend. Man, it's gonna be
hop Listen it even like the murders playing next door.
One hundred thousand plus people in the Soto area. Everything

(59:36):
going on it. The vibe is gonna tell us that
this is going to be awesome and you need to
be there. Yeah, you fired up and ready to go.
A couple of things real quick again. Pick is Seahawks
minus three at home versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
Fact four nine four five one. If you hate the
Seahawks and you're not a real twelve, then you text

(01:00:00):
fiction to four nine four or five to one. But
if you want to win one thousand dollars or have
a chance to win a thousand dollars, you'll text fact
right now because you believe and Mike McDonald and the
Seahawks Fact four nine four or five to one disagree.
Fiction four nine four to five one one thousand dollars.
The line just a quick thought. If you are wanting
to do something this weekend, want to go to the game,

(01:00:22):
but you can't take us for the Mariners or a
scene expensive wise, Seahawks are sold out. Don't want to
go to the secondary market if you just want to go.
Queen Anne Beer Hall, my good friends Juice and Gary
and those guys. That place will be massively crazy this weekend,
especially on Sunday with the NFL and the Mariners. So
go check out the Queen Anne Beer Hall, Moss Bay Hall,
and Kirkland, or take your chances and go down to

(01:00:45):
the Occidental. I would just say go to the Occidental
if you're going to the games, that's the place to go.
And if it's brand new Occidental Hall. It's located right
at the basically the north end of Northwest corner of Lumenfield,
right across there. It's kind of like that triangle brick building. Awesome.
They just opened up about a month and a half ago.
It is sensational. Go check that place out before the game.

(01:01:07):
A lot of places will be jammed. Jimmy's will be crazy,
Chuck and Bucker doing postgame shows there after the Mariners game,
so you can go check that out as well, But
get your butt down to the Ox or Queen Anne
Beer Hall or the Moss Bay Hall if you're on
the East side as well. I just want to say
two five, three, can't wait for you Homers to eat
Crow and Scooble shoves it down your throats on Sunday
and Baker has some magic for the sea pigeons. Listen, man,

(01:01:30):
you beat you Yeah, well that's what you want to happen. Well,
not every you know, just because he's got a two
five to three area code doesn't mean he's necessarily from here.
Would love the background on your fandom there, Seriously, I'm
just curious. Yeah, seriously, he's just a Seattle hater. I
guess you know who's not the opposite of that guy
who David Malwer. Ah, he's gonna join us coming up next,

(01:02:00):
all right, real quick, once again a reminder final Mayor
ip A Keg tonight and Vibe tap Room, Maple Valley
off one sixty nine. We're gonna tap it at five o'clock.
All the money goes right to Kolinski's Hope, Avery Hup
and DIPG and the Jordan Morris Foundation join us out
there a bunch of stuff to give away thanks to
simply seeat I'll hope to see a lot of folks
out there. The last couple of years, we've drained that

(01:02:21):
thing in about two two and a half hours. Expect
to do the same tonight. We'll be watching the Niners
in the Rams and the Yankees and the Red Sox.
In addition to that, there are a limited number of
growlers available and this will be it at the brewery today.
They should be gone by later tonight. But go down
if you can see how do you want to pick
on up? Go pick it up the brewery. Softy joins us.
Right now from the five to twenty bar and grill.
We have an update, ye score updates. Yes, the Guardians

(01:02:45):
have got a couple back six to three, A right,
our score six to score here.

Speaker 12 (01:02:50):
You find yourself with a massive rooting interest in this series.
By the way, By the way, we do have to
do some real quick. If you're gonna update the scoreboard,
we have to do it properly.

Speaker 1 (01:02:58):
Okay, there we go. There we go. Update on the
score six to three, our score.

Speaker 2 (01:03:03):
You find yourself with a massive rooting interest in this series.

Speaker 1 (01:03:05):
I do because of the following on Tuesday, our guy
Joe Sheen said, if it's the Guardians, the Mariners will
win in two and it's a five game series, and
and and how did how did you know Sarah's just
then finish the question about question for and he said Cleveland,
Because I said, you know Sarah, you're an expert on baseball.
Who should Mariner fans Cleveland? So yes, I have now

(01:03:29):
a rooting interest, and so yes.

Speaker 12 (01:03:30):
I think Cleveland too. Uh, it's kind of six to
one half dozen to me. Yeah, slight lean towards the Guardians.
I slightly prefer to play them. I mean, there's a
couple of things about me as a baseball fan this
time of the year. And now I'm going back to
when I was twenty seven, twenty eight years old in
two thousand and one and two thousand and you know,
ninety five, when I was twenty two, that you start
to kind of worry about unreasonable things that you shouldn't

(01:03:52):
worry about, right, Like.

Speaker 2 (01:03:53):
People keep seeing me, well are you cubled twice? Well
that's what freaks me out.

Speaker 12 (01:03:58):
That we've already beaten him twice and doing it again
and maybe a fourth time if you face them twice
in the AODS scares the piss out of me. This
was supposed to be a Tiger baseball team that was
supposed to be pretty good this year. Yeah, made the
playoffs a year ago and at one point I had
like a ninety game lead in the Al Central. So
you know which team's going to show up the team
that choked like a dog and almost missed the playoffs.

(01:04:20):
So the team that got you know, got out to
a massive lead on everybody. So I tend to dwell
on the negative this time of the year. Maybe it's
just a Mariner baseball fan of me. I don't know
about you guys.

Speaker 1 (01:04:30):
Well, I mean, you've got forty nine years of history
for that, so that does make sense. I know what
you're really rooting for, You're you're you're rooting for.

Speaker 12 (01:04:39):
It would be the Yankees, right, yes, because I want
to see a game on Saturday night.

Speaker 1 (01:04:43):
You don't want you don't want to have to be
dividing your time between Husky football. You guys will be
a Tom's watch bar and a Mariner baseball game at
the exact same time as you get already to do
a Husky post game show.

Speaker 12 (01:04:55):
Honestly, it's not even about who's listening who's not listening, because.

Speaker 2 (01:04:58):
I don't really care. It's about me and which games
I get to watch and go to.

Speaker 12 (01:05:02):
And I was tell Dick Off the air, I've been
to a Marinon playoff game in twenty four years because
I was working the Husky Arizona game for that eighteen
inning marathon with the Astros. I was at Husky Stadium,
remember looking up at halftime seeing Mitch Hanniger on third
base and the ninth inning, thinking I can say whatever.

Speaker 2 (01:05:16):
I want right now.

Speaker 12 (01:05:17):
Nobody would nobody would hear, and I can violate every
FCC rule, nobody would care.

Speaker 1 (01:05:21):
And Mitch, Mitch garrun third or third you probably stranded. Yeah,
you're probably thinking, Hey, I gotta go to the game.
I gotta go to the game tomorrow right exactly, And
that didn't happen.

Speaker 12 (01:05:30):
I want to go to a game on Saturday night.
What I need, though, is I need to find a
way to get from Lower Queen Anne to t Mobile
Park at five o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday evening
before game one of the Alds and two hours before
a Sounder Timber game.

Speaker 1 (01:05:46):
Let's see tay for me. Well, take out a mortgage,
a second mortgage for Parker.

Speaker 12 (01:05:50):
And drone I can fly. Is there a drone big
enough to carry an adult human?

Speaker 1 (01:05:55):
So I'm not sure? Maybe is there a helicopter around?
Is air forced you next to Komo's Air Force still there?
They can drop you off, you know, like a glider
or something. Is that they still do that stuff. How
the actually I think about that, now, how the hell
would you do that? How the hell would you get
down there?

Speaker 12 (01:06:10):
I well, I'd probably just go down ninety nine. I
guess I don't know the tunnel. I have no idea.
First avenue and park where I'm well, I park at
Jimmies first of all, because we're lucky, right.

Speaker 1 (01:06:21):
That's parking, is the actually, actually you might want to
check on that.

Speaker 2 (01:06:25):
I already have.

Speaker 12 (01:06:26):
Parking is the least of my concerns, all right, concerns
are fighting traffic. I might be better off taking a
ferry to like Alcai and then just going around or
swimming across across Elliott Bay.

Speaker 1 (01:06:38):
If they have a passenger ferry. Yeah, absolutely, that'd be
a good call.

Speaker 2 (01:06:41):
That's a hell of an idea. But nobody start that up.

Speaker 1 (01:06:43):
No, but now you just gave it out. Come pick
my ass up. Now you just gave it out.

Speaker 12 (01:06:47):
Now we're going to say, with the old vivers captain's table,
three forty five milliont avenue and drive my ass tembile
park man.

Speaker 2 (01:06:55):
So that's the kind of stuff I'm thinking about.

Speaker 1 (01:06:57):
I know, Well, you're rooting hard, hard heart for the
for the Yanchees tonight, so good luck for that. All right,
what are you coming up today?

Speaker 12 (01:07:04):
Well, Rick new Heisl will join us at three twenty today.
We're gonna hear from Luke Raley as well from the
scrimmage down there at t Mobile Park.

Speaker 2 (01:07:12):
Dan Wilson Brian wu have both spoken. We'll hear from them.

Speaker 12 (01:07:16):
Mike Holmgrim will join us at four o'clock as well,
and then we got Niners rams coming up at five pm.
So a lot to get you, plus said Dick and
I are gonna kick this around. Let me ask you
real quick, thirty seconds or less. If the Mariners lose
in the first round, no matter what happens the rest
of the way. For example, is this year already a
success in your book?

Speaker 6 (01:07:35):
No?

Speaker 1 (01:07:35):
Okay? Bet if they lose in the first round, yes,
well exectively the second round, but yeah.

Speaker 12 (01:07:41):
Yes, if they're bounced by Tuesday, let's say whatever Wednesday,
I'm gonna say.

Speaker 2 (01:07:46):
No, not a success. Okay, all right, we'll talk about it.

Speaker 1 (01:07:48):
But I'm that guy. Well, I've got it with you though, Okay,
see it all right?

Speaker 4 (01:07:52):
For the mild mannered and marginally objectionable the Inverness, this
is paddle day, saying so long everyone,

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
